El objetivo del presente trabajo es ayudar a lograr aprendizajes significativos y mejor comprensión por parte de los estudiantes que cursan Cinética Química y Principios de Diseño de Reactores en carreras del área de química. Se presenta una estrategia didáctica empleando el solver de Excel para la solución analítica de un sistema de ecuaciones generadas para la determinar el tamaño óptimo de reactores CSTR que operan en serie de manera isotérmica e isobárica. El procedimiento involucra conocer la conversión intermedia lograda por cada reactor para determinar del volumen óptimo de cada unidad, el cual es descrito por el método de la maximización del área de rectángulos sobre la curva de Levenspiel la cual es extrapolable a “n” unidades de reactores, a diferencia del método gráfico, que es iterativo y solamente práctico hasta tres unidades

Con el objetivo de mejorar la enseñanza aprendizaje de la tabla periódica en estudiantes con discapacidad visual para la inclusión educativa, se presentan dos estudios de caso con estudiantes del nivel medio superior. En el primer estudio de caso las clases se realizaron en línea y en el segundo caso la clase fue presencial. Se utilizaron materiales con formato accesible para explicar el tema de tabla periódica y sus propiedades. Para las actividades, se utilizaron maquetas de la tabla periódica con texturas y código Braille. Finalmente, se realizó una evaluación guiada. La evaluación cuantitativa indicó que las estudiantes lograron reconocer, comprender y aplicar la composición de la tabla periódica, así como sus propiedades como radio atómico, electronegatividad y potencial de ionización. En ambas experiencias las estudiantes se asombraron al tocar las tablas y sus comentarios al respecto fueron muy positivos. Por los resultados obtenidos y los comentarios de las estudiantes esta estrategia resultó exitosa en ambos casos y puede ser aplicada en estudiantes con discapacidad visual para contribuir a la inclusión educativa.

This paper explains what the PBL consists of, exposes the role of the teacher and the student in this methodology, and discusses the convenience of using pictograms to determine the convenience of raising in the PBL, problems, or cases. Based on our teaching experience, a taxonomy is proposed to facilitate an awareness of these differences and help teachers choose a problem-based learning method more appropriate for their students. Also, a PBL planning process is presented for an experimental activity and its process evaluation.

It is imperative that a profound transformation be carried out in the traditional way in which we teach science subjects, so it is necessary that the role of student change from being a mere recipient of information to being the main player in the construction of his knowledge. One of the strategies to achieve this is to make use of ICT, within which are educational simulators, as a support resource to facilitate the teaching-learning processes taught in the classroom. The didactic strategy developed in this work was carried out with the PhET (https://phet.colorado.edu) simulator was used to improve the teaching of the Law of Conservation of the Matter and its relationship with chemical reactions. To evaluate the learning acquired by students, the Hake factor was determined. In terms of the implementation of this didactic strategy, students demonstrated greater recognition, understanding, and appropriation of the knowledge gained about the importance of this law in chemical reactions. This teaching strategy is useful for higher middle-level schools that do not have a school science lab.

Techniques are needed to train students in "writing to learn"., whose main goal is to "learn to write". This work aims to exemplify how writing can be a teaching learning technique in an example in Chemistry to develop a correct understanding of the preparation of molar solutions in the laboratory. It is essential that this is carried out in the classroom in a way that develops the reflective, analytical and cognitive skills of students. All this within an environment with safety measures at work.

Coffee grounds are an organic waste consisting of the ground, roasted and processed grain for the extraction of coffee, being of great volume the waste obtained, which, if not treated and preserved for a long time, emanates unpleasant aromas and becomes an optimal means for the proliferation of flies, and other pests. Activated carbon has the characteristic of being a material that has a large surface area, because of this, it is used in adsorption, which refers to the retention of atoms, ions, and molecules on its surface. In this paper, the production of activated carbon is presented by means of the physicochemical activation of coffee waste by calcining at 900 &deg, C and subsequent activation with sulfuric acid, as well as the Box&ndash, Behnken design of three factors for chromium (III) adsorption optimization. It is determined that the optimal conditions for performing the adsorption are pH = 3 and a contact time of 140 min. According to the analysis of variance for the experimental design, it is determined that the initial chromium formation is not significant for the adsorption process. Under the optimal adsorb conditions of 96%, an application is given to the erasure of coffee for the production of activated carbon, which serves as the adsorbent agent applied to the removal of chromium (III) aqueous. The area of activated carbon obtained is 13657.89 &plusmn, 251.09 m2/g determined by the acetic acid adsorption isotherm method.

A problem-based online learning (PBe-L) teaching sequence was designed for calculating the shelf life (expiration date) of an on-site solution of refrigerated drug as part of activities of a Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry course of Pharmacy major at FES Cuautitlan UNAM in Mexico. The teacher presents students the problem, a group collaborative activity is carried out to search for information in PBL cycles. Students are then shown a virtual experiment that includes experimental results. Another group collaborative activity is carried out for the search of information, for the procedural analysis of the results. Applying knowledge and understanding of the topics of chemical kinetics, temperature effect on the rate of chemical reactions and drug degradation reactions, etc., students solve the problem. Hake's factor was determined for the conceptual gain. A Likert-type satisfaction survey was conducted and compared to the results of a group that was applied to the PBL strategy in person. At the end of the sequence students achieved recognition, comprehension and application learnings and conceptual gain was high. Allowing an integration of its cognitive framework of kinetics topics.

With the aim of improving the teaching and learning of chemistry functional groups, a didactic strategy was designed based on real-life situations. This strategy was used at the high school level, in the subject of “Chemistry II.” One group of students was taught functional groups using interactive board software through different dynamics (experimental group), and another group was taught traditionally (control group). Learning was evaluated through a series of questions, exercise solving, and scientific problems. Results indicate that the group of students in which the interactive board software was used achieved higher learning levels in comparison to the control group, which was traditionally taught.

ResumenLa radioactividad es más conocida por sus efectos nocivos, por el estallido de las bombas atómicas en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero también tiene funciones beneficiosas para el cuidado de la salud, ya que sirve tanto para el diagnóstico temprano de enfermedades como para su tratamiento. En este trabajo se presenta, desde una perspectiva de educación química, los conceptos fundamentales de la tomografía por emisión de positrones (PET). Asimismo, se explica el proceso de producción de radiofármacos para PET, en particular 18F. También, se discuten diversos tipos de radiofármacos utilizados para diagnóstico de enfermedades oncológicas, neurológicas y cardíacas. El uso y aplicaciones clínicas de este método de imagen es ya una realidad en México desde el año 2005. Se espera que estudiantes y profesores del área de ciencias químico-biológicas logren una mejor comprensión y un panorama de los alcances y aplicaciones que puede tener esta técnica.AbstractThe radioactivity is more known for adverse effects by the explosion of atomic bombs in World War II, but also has features beneficial to health care since it serves for the early diagnosis of diseases to your treatment. This paper presents, from a perspective of chemical education, the fundamental concepts of the Emission of Positron Tomography (PET). Also explains the process of production of radiopharmaceuticals for PET, in particular 18F. Also, different types of radiopharmaceuticals used for diagnosis of oncological, neurological and cardiac diseases are discussed. The use and clinical applications of this method of Imaging is already a reality in Mexico since 2005. It is expected students and teachers of the area chemical biological sciences achieve a better understanding and an overview of the scope and applications that this technique can have.

ResumenSe presenta una métrica integral que permite evaluar el acercamiento verde de un experimento dado, lo anterior a partir de su respectivo diagrama de flujo; en este se integran tanto el tratamiento y la disposición de los residuos, además de considerar los riesgos para la salud, el ambiente y la seguridad utilizando los pictogramas y rombos de seguridad de reactivos, sustancias auxiliares, productos y residuos. También se muestra una carta de 13 colores (del rojo al verde) en los sistemas RGB y CMYK que indican el número de principios de la química verde que cumple cada experimento, y que se utilizan como color de fondo en los componentes del diagrama.AbstractIn this paper a comprehensive metric that allows the assess to the greenness of the experiments from the flowchart is presented. The corresponding diagram integrates the treatment and disposal of waste, in addition are considered risks to health, the environment and security using pictograms and safety of reactive rhombuses, auxiliary substances, products and wastes. A letter from 13 colors (from red to green) is also shown in RGB and CMYK systems indicating the number of principles of green chemistry that meets each experiment, and which are used as background color in the diagram components.

This paper aims to show how convenient and necessary is to promote tutorship in the domain of chemical education. It stands out tutorship role in the perspective of a comprehensive education, not only in the cognitive aspect, but in all of it's dimensions. Some reflections on the problems and challenges for their appropriate implementation are also presented. Based in our educational experience in the chemical area, actions, activities and suggestions are presented in order to consolidate tutor's action.ResumenEste trabajo pretende mostrar qué tan conveniente y necesario es promover la tutoría en el ámbito de la educación química. Se destaca el papel de la tutoría desde la perspectiva de una educación integral, no solo en el aspecto cognitivo, sino en todas sus dimensiones. También se presentan algunas reflexiones sobre los problemas y retos para su apropiada implantación. Basándonos en nuestra experiencia docente en el área de química, se presentan acciones, actividades y sugerencias para consolidar la acción del tutor.

El proposito de este trabajo es presentar algunos aspectos relevantes de la formacion basada en competencias para la formacion de nivel profesional. Los paises latinoamericanos deben estar preparados para tal efecto, para ello los docentes de la region deben comprender los principios bajo los cuales se esta gestando este nuevo modelo centrado en competencias, rompiendo paradigmas y beneficiando con ello la construccion del propio conocimiento por parte del estudiante, que le permitira no solo resolver ejercicios tipo, sino tener competencias (conocimientos, habilidades, actitudes y valores) para cualquier momento en el cual se tenga que enfrentar a la solucion de situaciones reales.

En los cursos de cinética química de licenciatura, se estudia la rapidez de las reacciones químicas, así como los efectos de temperatura en la rapidez de reacción, a través de ejercicios que utilizan métodos matemáticos como integración de ecuaciones de rapidez y funciones que se ajustan mediante regresión lineal. Con estos ejercicios, los alumnos desarrollan el tratamiento matemático de los datos sin lograr aprendizajes significativos. Es por ello, que surge la necesidad de crear ejercicios como “verdaderos problemas”, que tengan que ver con su vida cotidiana, esto es, aplicar el Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas (ABP). Se presenta el problema ¿Cuánto tiempo (en horas) se conserva la leche pasteurizada a temperatura ambiente?, a estudiantes de Fisicoquímica V (Cinética Química), de la carrera de Química de la FES Cuautitlán UNAM. A partir del cuestionamiento, surgieron una serie de preguntas, respuestas y acciones por parte de los estudiantes y del profesor. Con el modelo de primer orden, la ecuación de Arrhenius y el tratamiento matemático adecuado los estudiantes determinaron el número de horas en que se conserva la leche a temperatura ambiente. Los resultados mostraron que después de aplicar el ABP, los estudiantes comprendieron el efecto de la temperatura en la rapidez de la reacción. Esta estrategia, permitió estudiar el efecto de la temperatura en la rapidez de una reacción de una forma didáctica para lograr aprendizajes significativos, por lo que puede ser utilizado en los cursos de cinética química con el fin de incrementar el rendimiento académico.

Tonsil Actisil FF, a commercial bentonitic clay, promotes the formation of a series of electrophilic-aromatic-substitution products from para-methoxybenzyl acetate in carbon disulfide. The molecules obtained correspond to linear isomeric dimers, trimers, tetramers and a pentamer, according to their spectroscopic data. A clear indication of the title mechanistic pathway for the oligomerization growth was obtained from the analysis of a set of computational-chemistry calculations using the density-functional-theory level B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p). The corresponding conclusions were based on the computed dipole moments, the HOMO/LUMO distributions, and a natural-populations analysis of the studied molecules.

Se describe la caracterización mediante técnicas espectroscópicas de una montmorillonita natural colectada en Cuencamé, Durango. La composición de las capas tetraédricas y octaédricas fue analizada por Resonancia Magnética Nuclear (RMN) de ángulo mágico para los núcleos de 29Si y 27Al. Las propiedades superficiales de la arcilla se cuantificaron utilizando técnicas de adsorción-desorción de nitrógeno y mediante la aplicación de los métodos de Brunahuer-Emmett-Teller (BET) y Barrett-Joyner- Halenda (BJH). Los resultados indican que la arcilla analizada es una montmorillonita sódica con una capa molecular de agua adsorbida entre sus láminas, cuyos átomos de Si en la estructura de filosilicato Q3 presentan diferente composición Si-nAl (n = 0, 1 y 2). El 3.3% de los átomos de Al correspondientes a la estructura se encuentran sustituyendo a los de Si en la capa. La presencia de los iones paramagnéticos Fe+3 y Mn+2 en la montmorillonita fue determinada por resonancia paramagnética electrónica (RPE), después de ser tratada con HCl y CF3SO3H. Adicionalmente, se discuten los resultados adquiridos por las técnicas de absorción atómica, microscopía de barrido electrónico, infrarrojo y análisis térmico gravimétrico

La Ingeniería Química y la Química Industrial son profesiones en las cuales los fundamentos de ciencia son aplicados al diseño de procesos químicos. Durante sus estudios los estudiantes de estas carreras aprenden las bases de Matemáticas, Química y Física para aplicarlas en un amplio intervalo de conceptos de Ingeniería. En este trabajo se revisan conceptos fisicoquímicos básicos como evaporación, condensación y presión de vapor, los cuales son aplicados en Ingeniería Química. Hay evidencia (Cros, Chastrette y Fayol, 1998) que los estudiantes a menudo se esfuerzan por aprender Química y muchos de ellos no comprenden correctamente los conceptos fundamentales teniendo serias implicaciones en la enseñanza aprendizaje de tópicos de mayor nivel (Nakhleh, 1992).

The synthesis of benzyl chlorides, cyclic derivatives cyclotriveratrylene and cyclotripiperotrylene were carried out in using the HCl/dioxane system as a catalyst. The reaction proceeded with high selectivity and is sensitive to the number of alkyl and methoxy substituent on the aromatic ring.
