Abstract Early spring cold spells can lead to leaf chlorosis during the rice seedling greening process. However, the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying the rice greening process under low-temperature conditions remain unknown. In this study, comparative transcriptome and morphophysiological analyses were performed to investigate the mechanisms mediating the responses of the Koshihikari (Kos) and Kasalath (Kas) rice cultivars to chilling stress. According to their growth-related traits, electrolyte leakage, and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, Kos was more tolerant to low-temperature stress than Kas. Moreover, chloroplast morphology was more normal (e.g., oval) in Kos than in Kas at 17 °C. The comparative transcriptome analysis revealed 610 up-regulated differentially expressed genes that were common to all four comparisons. Furthermore, carotenoid biosynthesis was identified as a critical pathway for the Kos response to chilling stress. The genes in the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway were expressed at higher levels in Kos than in Kas at 17 °C, which was in accordance with the higher leaf carotenoid content in Kos than in Kas. The lycopene β-cyclase and lycopene ε-cyclase activities increased more in Kos than in Kas. Additionally, the increases in the violaxanthin de-epoxidase and carotenoid hydroxylase activities in Kos seedlings resulted in the accumulation of zeaxanthin and lutein and mitigated the effects of chilling stress on chloroplasts. These findings have clarified the molecular mechanisms underlying the chilling tolerance of rice seedlings during the greening process.

Seedling mode plays a crucial role in the rice production process, as it significantly affects the growth and development of seedlings. Among the various seedling modes, the seedling tray overlapping for seed emergence mode (STOSE mode) has been demonstrated to be effective in enhancing seedling quality. However, the impact of this mode on the germination and growth of seeds with varying plumpness remains uncertain. To investigate the effect of the STOSE mode on seedling emergence characteristics, growth uniformity, and nutrient uptake of seeds with varying plumpness levels, we conducted a study using super early rice Zhongzao 39 (ZZ39) as the test material. The seeds were categorized into three groups: plumped, mixed, and unplumped. The results indicated that the STOSE mode significantly improved the seedling rate for all types of seeds in comparison to the seedling tray nonoverlapping for seed emergence mode (TSR mode). Notably, the unplumped seeds exhibited the most pronounced enhancement effect. The soluble sugar content of the seeds increased significantly after 2 days of sowing under the STOSE mode, whereas the starch content exhibited a significant decrease. Furthermore, the STOSE mode outperformed the TSR mode in several aspects including seedling growth uniformity, aboveground dry matter mass, root traits, and nutrient uptake. Overall, the STOSE mode not only promoted the germination and growth of plumped and mixed seeds but also had a more pronounced impact on unplumped seeds.

As front-line workers on construction projects, construction workers have always had the highest accident rate among workers in various industries, a statistic that significantly impacts society. In this study, the 2–4 Model was used to identify 14 influencing factors affecting workers’ unsafe behaviors, and a safety management index for construction workers was established. The fuzzy decision-making laboratory analysis method (Fuzzy-DEMATEL) and the interpretative structural model (ISM) were used to analyze the hierarchical structure, internal relations, and key influencing factors behind the unsafe behaviors in question, and the 14 factors affecting them were divided into five dimensions, including the technological environment, insufficient safety knowledge, and the corporate safety culture. The three most direct influencing factors (comprising eight key nodes in the constructed hierarchy) were found to be poor safety awareness, the violation of operating procedures, and skill errors. Therefore, the main paths toward reducing the level of unsafe behavior among construction workers include making changes in process equipment, addressing skill-related errors, ensuring adherence to operating procedures, improving safety awareness, and enhancing safety knowledge. In this study, we identify and classify the factors influencing unsafe behaviors by construction workers and propose scientific interventions with which to prevent the continued occurrence of safety hazards among them.

The adversarial risk of a machine learning model has been widely studied. Most previous studies assume that the data lie in the whole ambient space. We propose to take a new angle and take the manifold assumption into consideration. Assuming data lie in a manifold, we investigate two new types of adversarial risk, the normal adversarial risk due to perturbation along normal direction and the in-manifold adversarial risk due to perturbation within the manifold. We prove that the classic adversarial risk can be bounded from both sides using the normal and in-manifold adversarial risks. We also show a surprisingly pessimistic case that the standard adversarial risk can be non-zero even when both normal and in-manifold adversarial risks are zero. We finalize the study with empirical studies supporting our theoretical results. Our results suggest the possibility of improving the robustness of a classifier without sacrificing model accuracy, by only focusing on the normal adversarial risk.

Penthiopyrad (PO), a succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide, poses a potential risk to fish. Here, we investigated the adverse effects of PO on endocrine regulation and reproductive capacity in zebrafish during a 21-d sublethal exposure to PO concentrations ranging from 0.02 to 2.00 mg/L. Following exposure to PO (0.20 and 2.00 mg/L), female-specific effects including follicle necrosis, structural disturbance of the yolk follicle, fusion of cortical follicles appeared in ovarian tissue of adult females, which led to a significant reduction in fertility. Correspondingly, 0.20 and 2.00 mg/L PO led to a marked reduction in the GSI values of females, and 2.00 mg/L PO caused a 31% decline in the proportion of perinucleolar oocytes (PCO) in oocytes. In addition, testosterone (T) level was obviously suppressed and 17β-estradiol (E2) level was increased in females after exposure to 2.00 mg/L PO. Male zebrafish treated with 0.20 and 2.00 mg/L of PO exhibited significant interstitial enlargement, edema in the testes, and reduced diameter of seminiferous tubules, along with a thinner basement membrane. The effects of PO on males were associated with significant increase in E2 level, suggesting that PO has an estrogenic effect on male fish. Greater E2 levels in serum were further supported by increased transcription levels of genes linked to the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad-liver (HPGL) axis. Notably, transcription levels of cyp19a, er2b, era, and cyp19b was remarkably increased, exhibiting a clear link with variations in E2 levels. Overall, the present study demonstrates that PO induces reproductive impairment in zebrafish by promoting steroidogenesis.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are widely used in the field of emotion recognition since it is resistant to camouflage and contains abundant physiological information. However, EEG signals are non-stationary and have low signal-noise-ratio, making it more difficult to decode in comparison with data modalities such as facial expression and text. In this paper, we propose a model termed semi-supervised regression with adaptive graph learning (SRAGL) for cross-session EEG emotion recognition, which has two merits. On one hand, the emotional label information of unlabeled samples is jointly estimated with the other model variables by a semi-supervised regression in SRAGL. On the other hand, SRAGL adaptively learns a graph to depict the connections among EEG data samples which further facilitates the emotional label estimation process. From the experimental results on the SEED-IV data set, we have the following insights. 1) SRAGL achieves superior performance compared to some state-of-the-art algorithms. To be specific, the average accuracies are 78.18%, 80.55%, and 81.90% in the three cross-session emotion recognition tasks. 2) As the iteration number increases, SRAGL converges quickly and optimizes the emotion metric of EEG samples gradually, leading to a reliable similarity matrix finally. 3) Based on the learned regression projection matrix, we obtain the contribution of each EEG feature, which enables us to automatically identify critical frequency bands and brain regions in emotion recognition.

Abstract Background Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive heterogeneous hematological malignancy with remarkably heterogeneous outcomes. This study aimed to identify potential biomarkers for AML risk stratification via analysis of gene expression profiles. Methods RNA sequencing data from 167 adult AML patients in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database were obtained for overall survival (OS) analysis, and 52 bone marrow (BM) samples from our clinical center were used for validation. Additionally, siRNA was used to investigate the role of prognostic genes in the apoptosis and proliferation of AML cells. Results Co‐expression of 103 long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and mRNAs in the red module that were positively correlated with European Leukemia Network (ELN) risk stratification and age was identified by weighted gene co‐expression network analysis (WGCNA). After screening by uni‐ and multivariate Cox regression, Kaplan–Meier survival, and protein–protein interaction analysis, four genes including the lncRNA LOC541471, GDAP1, SOD1, and STK25 were incorporated into calculating a risk score from coefficients of the multivariate Cox regression model. Notably, GDAP1 expression was the greatest contributor to OS among the four genes. Interestingly, the risk score, ELN risk stratification, and age were independent prognostic factors for AML patients, and a nomogram model constructed with these factors could illustrate and personalize the 1‐, 3‐, and 5‐year OS rates of AML patients. The calibration and time‐dependent receiver operating characteristic curves (ROCs) suggested that the nomogram had a good predictive performance. Furthermore, new risk stratification was developed for AML patients based on the nomogram model. Importantly, knockdown of LOC541471, GDPA1, SOD1, or STK25 promoted apoptosis and inhibited the proliferation of THP‐1 cells compared to controls. Conclusions High expression of LOC541471, GDAP1, SOD1, and STK25 may be biomarkers for risk stratification of AML patients, which may provide novel insight into evaluating prognosis, monitoring progression, and designing combinational targeted therapies.

Abstract Diabetic wounds have imposed a significant burden on both patients and society with prolonged healing processes hindered by dysfunctional skin repair cells. Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), as the important media for intercellular communications, show promising therapeutic potential in treating diabetic wounds by restoring cellular functions. However, low yields and limited bio‐function of sEVs greatly challenge their large‐scale clinical use. Here, we briefly overview the biogenesis and cellular uptake of sEVs, emphasize current advances in improving the yields of sEVs and optimizing the function of sEVs with engineering approaches, and summarize the applications of engineered sEVs in diabetic wound treatment. Furthermore, the undissolved issues during the clinical transformation of engineered sEVs are also discussed. This critical review aims to provide meaningful guidance for future applications of engineered sEVs in the management of diabetic wounds.

Objective T cell dysfunction is a common characteristic of patients with myeloid leukemia and is closely related to clinical efficacy and prognosis. In order to clarify the mechanisms leading to the T cell dysfunction, we characterized the gene expression profile of T cells from chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) patients by microarray analysis and investigated the related regulating pathway.Methods We employed gene expression profiling, bioinformatics and real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) to detect genes differentially expressed in CML patients versus healthy donors.Results There were 1704 genes differentially expressed between CD3+ T cells from CML patients and healthy donors, including 868 up-regulated genes and 836 down-regulated genes, which mostly related to T cell functional pathways. In particular, lower expression of NFATC1, a member of the TCR signaling pathway, was detected in CD3+ T cells from CML patients. We further found that the expression of IRF4 and BACH2, transcription factors that potentially regulate NFATC1, in CD3+ T cells from CML patients was significantly lower than that in healthy donors.Conclusion We for the first time observed the altered gene expression profiles of CD3+ T cells from CML patients, and the results suggested that IRF4, BACH2 and NFATC1 may be involved in regulating T cell dysfunction in CML patients in the form of a transcriptional regulatory network. These findings may provide potential targets for tyrosine kinase inhibitors in combination with other targeted immunotherapies .

Abstract Wet adhesion has widespread applications in the fields of wearable electronics, medical devices and intelligent robots. In nature, many organisms have evolved with unique wet adhesion properties to adapt to complex habitats and climb in wet environments without falling. Tree frogs, as crawling masters in tropical rain forests, are representative of wet adhesion and give novel inspirations to design artificial wet adhesive materials by mimicking their specialised hexagonal structures and/or mucus composition. In this review, we first overview the research progress of tree frog toe pads from the perspective of toe pad structure and adhesion mechanism. Then, wet adhesive materials inspired by tree frog toe pads are systematically summarised from (i) the typical polymers, (ii) the preparation approaches, (iii) the adhesion test methods and (iv) the typical artificial adhesion surfaces. Third, various applications of bioinspired wet adhesive surfaces are highlighted. Finally, we present future challenges and opportunities to develop tree frog‐inspired wet adhesive materials.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors of the urinary system. The incidence of prostate cancer is high in the elderly male patients, which seriously threatens the life and health. In recent years, immunotherapy to activate anti-cancer host immune cells to kill tumors has become a new area of research for the treatment of prostate cancer. As an important component of immunotherapy, cancer vaccines have a unique position in the precise treatment of malignant tumors. There are many types of prostate cancer vaccines, including monocyte vaccines, dendritic cell vaccines, viral vaccines, peptide vaccines, and DNA/mRNA vaccines, etc. As the most important cancer vaccine based on monocytes, it is the only prostate cancer therapeutic vaccine approved by the US Food and Drug Administration at present, which plays an extremely important role in the immunotherapy of prostate cancer. However, due to its own limitations, SipuleucelT has not been widely adopted. Currently, the complexity of immunotherapy and the specificity of prostate cancer mean that other prostate cancer vaccines have not shown expected clinical benefits in large randomized phase II and III trials, and further in-depth studies are still needed.

Abstract T cell immunotherapy remains an attractive approach for cancer immunotherapy. T cell immunotherapy mainly employs chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)- and T cell receptor (TCR)-engineered T cells. CAR-T cell therapy has been an essential breakthrough in treating hematological malignancies. TCR-T cells can recognize antigens expressed both on cell surfaces and in intracellular compartments. Although TCR-T cells have not been approved for clinical application, a number of clinical trials have been performed, particularly for solid tumors. In this article, we summarized current TCR-T cell advances and their potential advantages for solid tumor immunotherapy.

Background: Cerebral resuscitation is one of the main therapeutic aims in the treatment of cardiac arrest (CA) patients who experience a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). However, the therapeutic effects of current treatments are not ideal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of neurological function of acupuncture combined with conventional cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitationthe (CPCR) for patients after ROSC. Methods: Seven electronic databases and other related websites were searched to identify studies on acupuncture combined with conventional CPCR for patients after ROSC. R software was used to conduct a meta-analysis, and the outcomes that could not be pooled were analyzed using a descriptive analysis. Results: Seven RCTs involving 411 participants who had experienced ROSC were eligible for inclusion. The main acupoints were Neiguan (PC6), Shuigou (DU26), Baihui (DU20), Yongquan (KI1), and Sanyinjiao (SP6). Compared to conventional CPCR, acupuncture combined with conventional CPCR led to significantly higher Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores on day 3 (mean difference (MD)=0.89, 95% CI: 0.43, 1.35, I2 = 0%), day 5 (MD = 1.21, 95% CI: 0.27, 2.15; I2 = 0%), and day 7 (MD = 1.92, 95% CI: 1.35, 2.50; I2 = 0%). Conclusion: Acupuncture-assisted conventional CPCR may have a potential role in improving neurological function in CA patients after ROSC, but the certainty of evidence is very low and more high-quality studies are required. Excessive biuret in fertilizer causes leaf albinism in direct-seeded rice fields. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the underlying physiology and molecular mechanisms of leaf chlorosis via biuret using morphophysiological and transcriptome analyses. The induction of biuret in albino rice leaves was examined in a net-growing cultivation bed. Some key morphophysiological indices were measured including biuret content, blade ultrastructure, chlorophyll content, and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters. Candidate genes in the chlorotic leaves under biuret stress were also excavated using transcriptome analysis. Furthermore, physiological and biochemical analyses of the changes in enzyme activities and intermediate metabolite contents in relation to the phenotypic changes in the leaves were carried out. The chlorotic leaves of rice seedlings showed higher biuret accumulation, and the leaves suffered severe damage with higher malondialdehyde contents and low chlorophyll contents. Abnormal chloroplast ultrastructures and thylakoid membrane structure loss were observed in chlorotic leaves under biuret exposure. The related genes involved in the chloroplast development, photosynthesis (including antenna proteins), and carbon fixation pathways were significantly downregulated, which suggests that photosynthesis was destroyed in the chlorotic leaves of rice seedlings. Biuret disturbed the photosynthetic system in chloroplast thylakoid membranes by inhibiting chloroplast development, thereby promoting the formation of the chlorotic leaf phenotype in rice seedlings. Our results promote the understanding of the molecular mechanism of rice in response to biuret toxicity.

Background: This study aims to summarize the available evidence and guideline/consensus recommendations for acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods: A scoping review was performed. Eight electronic databases and other related websites were searched. All studies related to acupuncture and moxibustion for COVID-19 were considered. Descriptive analysis was applied to analyze the all included studies and guideline recommendations. Results: We ultimately included 131 eligible studies. The main topics of the included studies were the treatment (82.4%) and prevention (38.9%) of COVID-19. The most included studies were literature reviews (65, 49.6%), protocols of systematic reviews (20, 15.3%), and guidelines and consensuses (18, 13.7%). The 18 (13.7%) COVID-19 guidelines and consensuses included 47 recommendations on acupuncture and moxibustion, which focused on the treatment (21/47, 44.7%), rehabilitation (17/47, 36.2%) and prevention (6, 12.8%) of COVID-19 patients. Zusanli (ST36), Feishu (BL13), Guanyuan (RN4) were recommended mostly for the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention respectively. Conclusions: Acupuncture and moxibustion are effective in the treatment of COVID-19 patients to some extent. However, more high-quality of clinical trials still needed to determine the feasibility of acupuncture and moxibustion in COVID-19 patients to better guide clinical practice. Abstract We studied the effects of leaf surface characteristics on canopy droplet behaviour using two rice cultivars with similar leaf shapes but significantly different leaf surface characteristics: Jia58 (glabrous rice; smooth leaf surface and no burrs) and Yongyou12 (hairy-leaved rice; rough leaf surface covered with burrs). The plants were subjected to spray tests with different spray pressures and nozzle apertures. The results showed that the deposition amount per unit leaf area was significantly higher in the Yongyou12 canopy than in the Jia58 canopy. The diameter, volume median diameter, number median diameter, and coverage of droplets were significantly higher in Yongyou12 than in Jia58, while the coverage density of droplets was significantly lower. The proportion of small droplets of Jia58 is higher than that of Yongyou12. Thus, a larger amount of large-sized droplets could retain on the leaf surface of hairy-leaved rice, and a larger number of small-sized droplets were retained on the leaf surface of glabrous rice. Smaller pressure and larger flow nozzle were conducive to the retention of the Jia58, while Yongyou12 required larger pressure and larger flow nozzles. Ultrastructural analyses revealed that the leaf surface of glabrous rice had no trichomes and more wax than hairy-leaved rice, and the critical surface tension was lower, resulting in the retention of mainly small droplets on its leaf surface and a lower deposition amount. Therefore, in order to increase the deposition of pesticide droplets on the leaf surface in production, glabrous rice should choose nozzles with smaller spray pressure and large flow rate.

Background: Low grade of sterile inflammation plays detrimental roles in the progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Sappanone A (SA), a kind of homoisoflavanone isolated from the heartwood of Caesalpinia sappan, exerts anti-inflammatory effects in acute kidney injury. However, whether SA has beneficial effects on diabetic kidney disease remains further exploration.Methods and Results: In the present study, uninephrectomized male mice were treated with Streptozotocin (STZ, 50 mg/kg) for five consecutive days to induce diabetes. Next, the diabetic mice were administered orally with SA (10, 20, or 30 mg/kg) or vehicle once per day. Our results showed that STZ treatment significantly enhanced damage in the kidney, as indicated by an increased ratio of kidney weight/body weight, elevated serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN), as well as increased 24-h urinary protein excretion, whereas SA-treated mice exhibited a markedly amelioration in these kidney damages. Furthermore, SA attenuated the pathological changes, alleviated fibrotic molecules transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and Collagen-IV (Col-IV) production, decreased inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) expression in STZ-treated mice. Similarly, in glomerular mesangial cells, SA pretreatment decreased high glucose (HG)-induced proliferation, inflammatory cytokines excretion, and fibrotic molecules expression. Mechanistically, SA decreased the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and restored the expression of total NF-κB inhibitor alpha (IκBα) both in vivo and in vitro.Conclusion: Our data suggest that SA may prevent diabetes-induced kidney inflammation and fibrosis by inhibiting the NF-κB pathway. Hence, SA can be potential and specific therapeutic value in DKD.

The rapid development of new roots in transplanted rice (Oryza sativa L.) is crucial for shortening the returning green time of seedlings and accelerating tillering. Root regeneration plays an important role in enabling seedlings to resume normal growth and produce effective spikes after root injury. This study aimed to investigate the dynamic changes in new root production and the growth of seedlings of different varieties after root cutting in addition to the key physiological factors. We utilized hydroponics to set up four different time treatments to observe the occurrence of root systems in various rice seedling varieties after root cutting; we also measured related physiological indexes to further analyze the results. This study found that changes in aboveground nutrient, energy, and hormone levels in seedlings are critical for the growth of new roots after cutting. A morphological analysis showed that the root germination force of Zhongzao 39 (ZZ39) was stronger than Jiazao 311 (JZ311) before shearing and weaker after shearing. Physiological and biochemical analyses revealed that both ZZ39 and JZ311 experienced a decrease in their aboveground nitrogen and phosphorus content after root cutting. Soluble sugar content and starch content were found to decrease to their lowest levels after two days of root shearing. Furthermore, both varieties showed a significant increase in aboveground indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) content after two days of root shearing, and the IAA content in new roots was also higher. The results indicate that higher levels of hormones in seedlings with cut roots can enhance the transportation of nutrients and carbohydrates from the stems and leaves to the roots, leading to improved growth and the production of new roots. Additionally, the accumulation of IAA in damaged roots can also positively impact this process. This study found significant differences in the regeneration of rice seedling roots after cutting depending on the variety. We identified key physiological characteristics that affect new root generation, which provides a scientific basis for identifying strong root regeneration varieties and developing cultivation measures to promote new root growth in rice.

Machine transplanting technology of biodegradable films has solved the problems of the higher cost of artificial film and the serious environmental pollution of polyethylene film residue. Previous studies have shown the positive impact of mulching on mitigating global warming potential. However, the mechanisms underlying the association between greenhouse gas emissions and the bacterial community structure in paddy field soil with biodegradable film mulching (BM) still remain limited. In this study, greenhouse gas emissions and the associated bacterial community in non-mulching, biodegradable mulching in a paddy field in Eastern China were analyzed over the 2019 and 2020 rice growing seasons. Rice mulching cultivation significantly inhibited CH4 emissions from a rice paddy, mainly due to the significant reduction in methane emission peaks. Film mulching significantly increased the diversity of the bacterial community as revealed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The relative abundance of methanogens was decreased, while the relative abundance of methanotrophs was increased in the paddy soil due to the BM treatment, with the change pattern basically consistent with CH4 emissions. The N2O emissions during the growth period showed a pronounced downward trend. However, the total abundance of bacteria involved in nitrification and denitrification was higher under BM. Mulching cultivation improved the soil nutrient availability and significantly increased the yield by 5.0%. BM inhibited the greenhouse gas emission intensity (GHGI) of the paddy field by 46.9%. Film mechanical transplanting could promote yield increases and significantly mediate the warming potential (GWP) of greenhouse gases in the paddy fields of the Middle-Lower Yangtze Area. The rational use of film mechanical transplanting would play a role in carbon neutrality in paddy fields. This study provided a theoretical basis for paddy field emission reduction and sustainable agricultural development.

Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is an effective model in converting data into non-negative coefficient representation whose discriminative ability is usually enhanced to be used for diverse pattern recognition tasks. In NMF-based clustering, we often need to perform K-means on the learned coefficient as postprocessing step to get the final cluster assignments. This breaks the connection between the feature learning and recognition stages. In this paper, we propose to learn the non-negative coefficient matrix based on which we jointly perform fuzzy clustering, by viewing that each column of the dictionary matrix as a concept of each cluster. As a result, we formulate a new fuzzy clustering model, termed Joint Non-negative and Fuzzy Coding with Graph regularization (G-JNFC), and design an effective optimization method to solve it under the alternating direction optimization framework. Besides the convergence and computational complexity analysis on G-JNFC, we conduct extensive experiments on both synthetic and representative benchmark data sets. The results show that the proposed G-JNFC model is effective in data clustering.

Reverse engineering is a powerful tool for duplicating real objects from data acquired by tracking systems, industrial X-ray computed tomography (CT), laser scanners, and image captures. This work proposed a novel method using the three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction and 3D printing to duplicate a mechanical key based on only one single naturally-captured photograph. A reverse engineering system of the mechanical key was self-developed which includes functions of projective transformation, curve extraction, point clouds generation, and 3D geometry reconstruction. The database technology was introduced into the image-based 3D reconstruction process for the first time to store basic dimensional information of key blanks, which provided supplementary information during the 3D key reconstruction process. Five different types of duplicated keys verified the effectiveness of the proposed method. The maximum geometric deviation was less than 0.39 mm. The duplicating time cost was 5 minutes for 3D geometry reconstruction and 18.3 minutes for 3D printing.

Abstract Determination of the optimal fertilization method is crucial to maximize nitrogen use efficiency and yield of different rice cultivars. Side-deep fertilization with controlled-release nitrogen, in conjunction with machine transplanting and subsequent topdressing, was applied to Indica–japonica hybrid rice ‘Yongyou1540’ (YY1540) and indica hybrid rice ‘Tianyouhuazhan’ (TYHZ). Four nitrogen treatments were applied in 2018 and 2019: traditional nitrogen application with quick-release nitrogen (T1), single-dose deep fertilization at transplanting with 100% controlled-release nitrogen (T2), and deep fertilization of 70% controlled-release nitrogen and topdressing of 30% quick nitrogen at tillering (T3), or at panicle initiation (T4). Side-deep fertilization reduced the fertilizer application frequency without causing yield loss, T4 enhanced the yield of YY1540 by increasing the number of productive tillers and number of spikelets per panicle compared with T1, T2 and T3. The yield of TYHZ showed no significant difference among treatments. The T4 treatment decreased the number of tillers at the tilling peak stage and increased the percentage productive tillers and number of differentiated spikelets. Compared with the other treatments, T4 increased dry matter accumulation and leaf area index during panicle initiation and grain ripening, and contributed to enhanced nitrogen uptake and nitrogen utilization in YY1540. On average, nitrogen uptake and utilization in YY1540 were highest in T4, but no significant differences among treatments were observed in TYHZ. Dry matter accumulation and nitrogen uptake from panicle initiation to heading of YY1540 were correlated with number of spikelets per panicle, but no significant correlations were observed for TYHZ. Supplementary topdressing with quick-release nitrogen at the panicle initiation stage was required to increase yield of indica–japonica hybrid rice, whereas single-dose deep fertilization with controlled-release nitrogen is satisfactory for the indica hybrid cultivar.

Abstract Background Due to the diversity of rice varieties and cropping systems in China, the limitation of seeding density and seedling quality makes it hard to improve machine-transplanted efficiency. Previous studies have shown that indica and japonica varieties varied in machine transplanting efficiency and optimal seeding density. In this study, a RIL population derived from ‘9311’ and ‘Nipponbare’ were performed to explore the seedling traits variations and the genetic mechanism under three seeding densities. Results The parents and RIL population exhibited similar trends as the seeding density increased, including seedling height and first leaf sheath length increases, shoot dry weight and root dry weight decreases. Among the 37 QTLs for six traits detected under the three seeding densities, 12 QTLs were detected in both three seeding densities. Five QTL hotspots identified clustered within genomic regions on chromosomes 1, 2, 4, 6 and 11. Specific QTLs such as qRDW 1.1 and qFLSL 5.1 were detected under low and high seeding densities, respectively. Detailed analysis the QTL regions identified under specific seeding densities revealed several candidate genes involved in phytohormones signals and abiotic stress responses. Whole-genome additive effects showed that ‘9311’ contributed more loci enhancing trait performances than ‘Nipponbare’, indicating ‘9311’ was more sensitive to the seeding density than ‘Nipponbare’. The prevalence of negative epistasis effects indicated that the complementary two-locus homozygotes may not have marginal advantages over the means of the two parental genotypes. Conclusions Our results revealed the differences between indica rice and japonica rice seedling traits in response to seeding density. Several QTL hotspots involved in different traits and specific QTLs (such as qRDW 1.1 and qFLSL 5.1 ) in diverse seeding densities had been detected. Genome-wide additive and two-locus epistasis suggested a dynamic of the genetic control underlying different seeding densities. It was concluded that novel QTLs, additive and epistasis effects under specific seeding density would provide adequate information for rice seedling improvement during machine transplanting.

Background: Acute infectious diseases constitute the most prevalent public health emergency (PHE) in China. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has long been used in the treatment of acute infections, but the overall evidence of its benefit and harm has not been comprehensively and systematically evaluated.Methods: We searched CBM, CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed, Cochrane Library, embase and preprint platforms to retrieve systematic reviews (SRs) on CHM for acute infectious. Participants with COVID-19, SARS, H1N1, tuberculosis, bacillary dysentery, mumps, herpangina, hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD), and other acute infectious diseases were included. Interventional group consisting of patients treated with CHM combined with Western medicine or CHM alone. The AMSTAR 2 tool was used to assess the methodological quality of the retrieved studies. Information on interventions, control measures and outcomes of the included studies was extracted, and meta-analyses were qualitatively synthesized.Results: A total of 51 SRs and meta-analyses were eligible for this overview, including 19 for COVID-19, 11 for hand-foot-and-mouth disease, 8 for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), 4 for tuberculosis, 3 for mumps, 2 for bacillary dysentery, 2 for H1N1 influenza and 2 for herpangina. Six systematic reviews were of high quality, all of which were on the use of CHM for COVID-19; 24 were of moderate quality; 10 were of low quality; and 11 were of very low quality. CHM appeared to have potential benefits in improving clinical symptoms and signs for most infections with an acceptable safety profile, and the clinical evidence of the benefits of CHM for acute respiratory infections such as COVID-19, SARS and H1N1 seems more sufficient than that for other acute infections.Conclusion: Overall, CHM, both decoction and Chinese patent medicine, used alone or in combination with conventional medicine may offer potential benefits to relieving symptoms of people with acute respiratory infections. Full reporting of disease typing, staging, and severity, and intervention details is further required for a better evidence translation to the responses for PHE. Future CHM research should focus mainly on the specific aspects of respiratory infections such as its single use for mild infections, and the adjunct administration for sever infections, and individual CHM prescriptions for well-selected outcomes should be prioritized.

Herein, we characterize the landscape and prognostic significance of the T cell receptor (TCR) repertoire of early-stage non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) for patients with an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation. β Chain TCR sequencing was used to characterize the TCR repertoires of paraffin-preserved pretreatment tumor and tumor-adjacent tissues from 57 and 44 patients with stage II/III NSCLC with an EGFR mutation treated with gefitinib or chemotherapy in the ADJUVANT-CTONG 1104 trial. The TCR diversity was significantly decreased in patients with an EGFR mutation, and patients with high TCR diversity had a favorable overall survival (OS). A total of 10 TCR Vβ-Jβ rearrangements were significantly associated with OS. Patients with a higher frequency of Vβ5-6Jβ2-1, Vβ20-1Jβ2-1, Vβ24-1Jβ2-1, and Vβ29-1Jβ2-7 had significantly longer OS. Weighted combinations of the 4 TCRs were significantly associated with OS and disease-free survival (DFS) of patients, which could further stratify the high and low TCR diversity groups. Importantly, Vβ5-6Jβ2-1, Vβ20-1Jβ2-1, and Vβ24-1Jβ2-1 had a significant relationship with gefitinib treatment, while Vβ29-1Jβ2-7 was associated with chemotherapy. Four TCR Vβ-Jβ rearrangements related to favorable OS and DFS for adjuvant gefitinib and chemotherapy in patients with an EGFR mutation with stage II/III NSCLC; this may provide a novel perspective for the adjuvant setting for resectable NSCLC.

The impairment in endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) functions results in dysregulation of vascular homeostasis and dysfunction of the endothelium under diabetic conditions. Improving EPC function has been considered as a promising strategy for ameliorating diabetic vascular complications. Liraglutide has been widely used as a therapeutic agent for diabetes. However, the effects and mechanisms of liraglutide on EPC dysfunction remain unclear. The capability of liraglutide in promoting blood perfusion and angiogenesis under diabetic conditions was evaluated in the hind limb ischemia model of diabetic mice. The effect of liraglutide on the angiogenic function of EPC was evaluated by cell scratch recovery assay, tube formation assay, and nitric oxide production. RNA sequencing was performed to assess the underlying mechanisms. Liraglutide enhanced blood perfusion and angiogenesis in the ischemic hindlimb of db/db mice and streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetic mice. Additionally, liraglutide improved tube formation, cell migration, and nitric oxide production of high glucose (HG)-treated EPC. Assessment of liraglutide target pathways revealed a network of genes involved in antioxidant activity. Further mechanism study showed that liraglutide decreased the production of reactive oxygen species and increased the activity of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). Nrf2 deficiency attenuated the beneficial effects of liraglutide on improving EPC function and promoting ischemic angiogenesis under diabetic conditions. Moreover, liraglutide activates Nrf2 through an AKT/GSK3β/Fyn pathway, and inhibiting this pathway abolished liraglutide-induced Nrf2 activation and EPC function improvement. Overall, these results suggest that Liraglutide represents therapeutic potential in promoting EPC function and ameliorating ischemic angiogenesis under diabetic conditions, and these beneficial effects relied on Nrf2 activation.

Despite the great success of immune-checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment for multiple cancers, evidence for the clinical use of ICIs in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains inadequate. Further exploration of the causes of immune evasion in the bone marrow (BM) environment, the primary leukemia site, and peripheral blood (PB) and understanding how T cells are affected by AML induction chemotherapy or the influence of age may help to select patients who may benefit from ICI treatment. In this study, we comprehensively compared the distribution of PD-1 and TIGIT, two of the most well-studied IC proteins, in PB and BM T cells from AML patients at the stages of initial diagnosis, complete remission (CR), and relapse-refractory (R/R) disease after chemotherapy. Our results show that PD-1 was generally expressed higher in PB and BM T cells from de novo (DN) and R/R patients, while it was partially recovered in CR patients. The expression of TIGIT was increased in the BM of CD8+ T cells from DN and R/R patients, but it did not recover with CR. In addition, according to age correlation analysis, we found that elderly AML patients possess an even higher percentage of PD-1 and TIGIT single-positive CD8+ T cells in PB and BM, which indicate greater impairment of T cell function in elderly patients. In addition, we found that both DN and R/R patients accumulate a higher frequency of PD-1+ and TIGIT+ CD8+ T cells in BM than in corresponding PB, indicating that a more immunosuppressive microenvironment in leukemia BM may promote disease progression. Collectively, our study may help guide the combined use of anti-PD-1 and anti-TIGIT antibodies for treating elderly AML patients and pave the way for the exploration of strategies for reviving the immunosuppressive BM microenvironment to improve the survival of AML patients.

Due to rainfall, closed weeding of paddy fields and other reasons, submergence stress often occurs during the germination and emergence stages of direct-seeded rice (Oryza sativa L.), which leads to intensified anaerobic respiration, accelerated consumption of stored nutrients, difficulty in germination of rice seeds, uneven emergence of seedlings and varying yields. Recent advances in the understanding of phytohormone interaction and the regulation of signaling pathways in crops have increased the feasibility of modulating responses to phytohormones in crop plants to enhance adaptation to environmental changes. In this review, we summarize recent advances and progress in the understanding of the regulation of phytohormone signaling pathways and their interactions with diverse internal and external signaling cues under submergence. We also discuss how these physiological modulations of phytohormones and their abundant signaling crosstalk can be applied to enhance the submergence tolerance of direct-seeded rice during germination through the manipulation of seedling morphogenesis and the fine-tuning of stress responses. Finally, we discuss how complex phytohormone signaling pathways could regulate the metabolism of stored nutrients, anaerobic respiration and energy supply in submerged direct-seeded rice seeds, thereby improving their submergence tolerance. This review hopes to provide a basis for studies of the tolerance mechanisms of submerged direct-seeded rice and the promotion of the simplified direct-seeded rice cultivation model.

Defect inspection using imaging-processing techniques, which detects and classifies manufacturing defects, plays a significant role in the quality control of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors in the semiconductor industry. However, high-precision classification and location are still challenging because the defect images that can be obtained are small and the scale of the different defects on the picture of the defect is different. Therefore, a simple, flexible, and efficient convolutional neural network (CNN) called accurate-detection CNN (ADCNN) to inspect MEMS pressure-sensor-chip packaging is proposed in this paper. The ADCNN is based on the faster region-based CNN, which improved the performance of the network by adding random-data augmentation and defect classifiers. Specifically, the ADCNN achieved a mean average precision of 92.39% and the defect classifier achieved a mean accuracy of 97.2%.

Ordinary chondrites are the most common type of chondrites. As a non-destructive, rapid, and semi-quantitative technology, Raman spectroscopy is widely used in geoscience. This paper presents the results of a Raman spectroscopic study that we conducted for 16 ordinary chondrites with different chemical groups and variable degrees of shock metamorphism. We found that: (1) the relationship between the Fe composition of olivine and pyroxene and the characteristic peaks of the Raman spectrum established by predecessors cannot be refined to the range of meteorites, the shock on meteorites also affects the Raman spectral characteristics of minerals and (2) the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the shocked minerals (including high-pressure minerals) in meteorites increases in the Raman spectrum, however, no clear numerical relationship with pressure was found. Based on these data, we assess that the feasibility of Raman spectroscopy for the classification of chemical group and shock metamorphism in ordinary chondrites is not well established.

Abstract T cells are fundamental effector cells against viruses and cancers that can be divided into different subsets based on their long-term immune protection and immediate immune response effects. The percentage and absolute number of these subsets change with ageing, which leads to a reduced immune response in older individuals. Stem cell memory T cells (TSCM) represent a small population of memory T cells with enhanced proliferation and differentiation properties that are endowed with high potential for maintaining T cell homeostasis. However, whether these cells change with ageing and gender remains unknown. Here, we assayed the distribution of TSCM and other T cell subsets in peripheral blood from 92 healthy subjects (44 females and 48 males) ranging from 3 to 88 years old by flow cytometry. We found that CD4+ and CD8+ TSCM in the circulation have relatively stable frequencies, and the absolute number of CD8+ TSCM decreased with age; however, the ratio of TSCM to the CD4+ or CD8+ naïve population increased with age. Unlike the obvious changes in other T cell subsets with age and gender, the stable level of TSCM in peripheral blood may support their capacity for sustaining long-term immunological memory, while their importance may increase together with ageing.

Abstract We previously identified a TCR Vβ21 T cell clone which was specific to CML patients, and demonstrated that TCR Vα13/β21 gene-modified CD3+ T cells had specific cytotoxicity for HLA-A11+ K562 cells. However, it remains unclear which antigen is specifically recognized by the TCR Vβ21 T cell clone. In this study, CD3+ T cells from healthy donor peripheral blood were stimulated with the WT1 peptide or mixed BCR-ABL peptides in the presence or absence of IL-2 and IL-7. The distribution of the TCR Vβ repertoire was analyzed after different stimulations. We found that the mixed BCR-ABL peptides induced clonally expanded Vβ7–9-Dβ2-Jβ2–7 T cells while the Wilms Tumor 1 peptide induced clonally expanded Vβ11–2-Dβ1-Jβ1–1 T cells by high-throughput TCRβ sequencing and GeneScan. Interestingly, the sequence and CDR3 motif of Vβ11–2 T cell clone are similar to the TCR Vβ21 (a different TCR V region naming system) T cell clone that we previously found in CML patients. Thus, our findings suggest that the TCR Vβ21 T cell clone found in CML patients might be a T cell clone that specifically recognizes WT1.

Global warming has caused frequent occurrence of heat stress at the flowering stage of single-season rice in the Yangtze River region of China, which results in declines of spikelet fertility and yield in rice. Rice flowering stage is the most sensitive period to high temperatures, and therefore, the key for heat stress happening is the flowering stage coinciding with high temperature, which causes spikelet fertility decreasing in heat-sensitive varieties, and is the major factor for heat injury differences among various rice planting regions. With the development of rice breeding, temperature indexes for heat stress has been converted from daily maximum temperature of 35 °C to 38 °C with the stress duration of more than 3 d. During the flowering stage, anther dehiscence inhibition and low pollen shedding onto the stigma are two main reasons for spikelet fertility reduction under high temperatures. At panicle initiation stage, high temperatures aggravate spikelet degeneration, and destroy floral organ development. Various types of rice varieties coexist in production, and indica-japonica hybrid rice demonstrates the highest heat resistance in general, followed by indica and japonica rice varieties. In production, avoiding high temperature is the main strategy of preventing heat stress, and planting suitable cultivars and adjustment of sowing date are the most effective measures. Irrigation is an effective real-time cultivation measure to decline the canopy temperature during the rice flowering stage. We suggested that further study should be focused on exploring heat injury differences among different rice variety types, and innovating rice-planting methods according to planting system changes in rice planting regions with extreme heat stress. Meanwhile, high temperature monitor and warning systems should be improved to achieve optimal heat stress management efficiencies. Abstract At present, refractory and relapse are major issues for leukemia therapy and a major cause of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant failure. Over the last decade, many studies have demonstrated that adoptive cancer antigen-specific T cell therapy is an effective option for leukemia therapy. Recently, T cell immunotherapy studies have mainly focused on chimeric antigen receptor- and T cell receptor-engineered T cells. Clinical trials involving chimeric antigen receptor-engineered T cells have been a major breakthrough and became a novel therapy for leukemia. As another potential therapy for leukemia, clinical application of TCR-engineered T cells remains in its infancy. This article presents a review of the current status of anti-leukemia immunotherapy using leukemia antigen-specific TCR-engineered T cells.

A serious acidification trend currently affects paddy soil and soil phosphorus (P) availability has declined in rice production. This study investigated the effect of rice-straw biochar on P availability and the adaptability of rice roots in acidified soil. Rice was grown in rhizoboxes, allowing for the precise sampling of rhizosphere and bulk soil for the sequential extraction of P fractions. Biochar may provide a liming effect and strong nutrient adsorption, leading to soil improvement. The results confirmed that biochar application significantly improved plant growth and P accumulation in shoots by 29% and 75%, respectively. However, the application of washed biochar and equivalent lime only increased shoot biomass and P accumulation by 13.4% and 11.2%, and by 42% and 38%, respectively. Compared with the control, applying biochar increased the plant-available P component contents in rhizosphere and bulk soil. Biochar affected the chemical balance among the different P fractions, increased aluminum-bound phosphate (Al-P) pool, calcium-bound phosphate (Ca-P) pool and decreased the occluded phosphate pool in acidic paddy soil. Biochar amendment significantly improved root growth of and increased the citrate exudation from roots under low P supply, accompanied by the enhanced expression of the anion-transporter-related OsFRDL4 gene and the OsPT1 phosphate transporter. The results showed that biochar application in degraded acidic soils could improve rice potential for P acquisition to increase available P component and maintain high citrate exudation.

Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a crucial element of the cardiac endocrine function that promotes natriuresis, diuresis, and vasodilation, thereby protecting normal blood pressure and cardiac function. Corin is a type II transmembrane serine protease that is highly expressed in the heart, where it converts the ANP precursor to mature ANP. Corin deficiency prevents ANP activation and causes hypertension and heart disease. In addition to the heart, corin is expressed in other tissues, including those of the kidney, skin, and uterus, where corin-mediated ANP production and signaling act locally to promote sodium excretion and vascular remodeling. These results indicate that corin and ANP function in many tissues via endocrine and autocrine mechanisms. In heart failure patients, impaired natriuretic peptide processing is a common pathological mechanism that contributes to sodium and body fluid retention. In this review, we discuss most recent findings regarding the role of corin in non-cardiac tissues, including the kidney and skin, in regulating sodium homeostasis and body fluid excretion. Moreover, we describe the molecular mechanisms underlying corin and ANP function in supporting orderly cellular events in uterine spiral artery remodeling. Finally, we assess the potential of corin-based approaches to enhance natriuretic peptide production and activity as a treatment of heart failure.

Selective protein distribution on distinct plasma membranes is important for epithelial cell function. To date, how proteins are directed to specific epithelial cell surface is not fully understood. Here we report a conserved DSSDE motif in LDL-receptor (LDLR) modules of corin (a transmembrane serine protease) and CD320 (a receptor for vitamin B12 uptake), which regulates apical membrane targeting in renal epithelial cells. Altering this motif prevents specific apical corin and CD320 expression in polarized Madin–Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells. Mechanistic studies indicate that this DSSDE motif participates in a Rab11a-dependent mechanism that specifies apical sorting. In MDCK cells, inhibition of Rab11a, but not Rab11b, expression leads to corin and CD320 expression on both apical and basolateral membranes. Together, our results reveal a novel molecular recognition mechanism that regulates LDLR module-containing proteins in their specific apical expression in polarized renal epithelial cells.

Heat stress inhibits rice panicle development and reduces the spikelet number per panicle. This study investigated the mechanism involved in heat-induced damage to panicle development and spikelet formation in rice cultivars that differ in heat tolerance. Transcriptome data from developing panicles grown at 40 °C or 32 °C were compared for two rice cultivars: heat-tolerant Huanghuazhan and heat-susceptible IR36. Of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 4,070 heat stress-responsive genes were identified, including 1,688 heat-resistant-cultivar-related genes (RHR), 707 heat-susceptible-cultivar-related genes (SHR), and 1,675 common heat stress-responsive genes (CHR). A Gene Ontology (GO) analysis showed that the DEGs in the RHR category were significantly enriched in 54 gene ontology terms, some of which improved heat tolerance, including those in the WRKY, HD-ZIP, ERF, and MADS transcription factor families. A Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis showed that the DEGs in the RHR and SHR categories were enriched in 15 and 11 significant metabolic pathways, respectively. Improved signal transduction capabilities of endogenous hormones under high temperature seemed to promote heat tolerance, while impaired starch and sucrose metabolism under high temperature might have inhibited young panicle development. Our transcriptome analysis provides insights into the different molecular mechanisms of heat stress tolerance in developing rice.

Mitochondrial dynamics is essential for the maintenance of cell homeostasis. Previous studies have shown that porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) infection decreases the mitochondrial membrane potential and causes the elevation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which may ultimately lead to mitochondrial apoptosis. However, whether PCV2 induce mitophagy remains unknown. Here we show that PCV2-induced mitophagy in PK-15 cells via Drp1 phosphorylation and PINK1/Parkin activation. PCV2 infection enhanced the phosphorylation of Drp1 and its subsequent translocation to mitochondria. PCV2-induced Drp1 phosphorylation could be suppressed by specific CDK1 inhibitor RO-3306, suggesting CDK1 as its possible upstream molecule. PCV2 infection increased the amount of ROS, up-regulated PINK1 expression, and stimulated recruitment of Parkin to mitochondria. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) markedly decreased PCV2-induced ROS, down-regulated Drp1 phosphorylation, and lessened PINK1 expression and mitochondrial accumulation of Parkin. Inhibition of Drp1 by mitochondrial division inhibitor-1 Mdivi-1 or RNA silencing not only resulted in the reduction of ROS and PINK1, improved mitochondrial mass and mitochondrial membrane potential, and decreased mitochondrial translocation of Parkin, but also led to reduced apoptotic responses. Together, our study shows that ROS induction due to PCV2 infection is responsible for the activation of Drp1 and the subsequent mitophagic and mitochondrial apoptotic responses.

Submergence stress is a limiting factor for rice growing in rainfed lowland areas of the world. It is known that the phytohormone gibberellin (GA) has negative effects on submergence tolerance in rice, while its inhibitor paclobutrazol (PB) does the opposite. However, the physiological and molecular basis underlying the GA- and PB-regulated submergence response remains largely unknown. In this study, we reveal that PB could significantly enhance rice seedling survival by retaining a higher level of chlorophyll content and alcohol dehydrogenase activity, and decelerating the consumption of non-structure carbohydrate when compared with the control and GA-treated samples. Further transcriptomic analysis identified 3936 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) among the GA- and PB-treated samples and control, which are extensively involved in the submergence and other abiotic stress responses, phytohormone biosynthesis and signaling, photosynthesis, and nutrient metabolism. The results suggested that PB enhances rice survival under submergence through maintaining the photosynthesis capacity and reducing nutrient metabolism. Taken together, the current study provided new insight into the mechanism of phytohormone-regulated submergence response in rice.

The hydropyran ring adopts an envelope conformation, with the O-bound methylene C atom as the flap. In the crystal, weak aromatic π–π stacking is observed [centroid–centroid separation = 3.848 (2) Å].
