This study investigates the effects of forest aging on ectomycorrhizal (EcM) fungal community and foraging behavior and their interactions with plant–soil attributes. We explored EcM fungal communities and hyphal exploration types via rDNA sequencing and investigated their associations with plant–soil traits by comparing younger (~120 years) and older (~250 years) temperate forest stands in Northeast China. The results revealed increases in the EcM fungal richness and abundance with forest aging, paralleled by plant–soil feedback shifting from explorative to conservative nutrient use strategies. In the younger stands, Tomentella species were prevalent and showed positive correlations with nutrient availability in both the soil and leaves, alongside rapid increases in woody productivity. However, the older stands were marked by the dominance of the genera Inocybe, Hymenogaster, and Otidea which were significantly and positively correlated with soil nutrient contents and plant structural attributes such as the community-weighted mean height and standing biomass. Notably, the ratios of longer-to-shorter distance EcM fungal exploration types tended to decrease along with forest aging. Our findings underscore the integral role of EcM fungi in the aging processes of temperate forests, highlighting the EcM symbiont-mediated mechanisms adapting to nutrient scarcity and promoting sustainability in plant–soil consortia. Purpose: This study assessed the alignment between Korean medical schools’ mission statements (MSs) and Korean Doctor’s Role (KDR) domains, considering school characteristics. Methods: We analyzed the South Korean medical school’s MS characteristics using a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative analysis preprocessed MS text data to identify concept words, while qualitative content analysis categorized information into predefined KDR domains and extracted themes from other parts. Results: At the KDR domain level, “social accountability” was the most frequent, followed by “education and research” and “patient care,” while “professionalism” had the least frequency. At the competency level, the most frequent domains were “involvement in public and global health initiatives,” while “self-regulation based on professional leadership” and “professionalism and self-management” were not present. Conclusion: The study found that the majority of MSs had a homogeneous pattern and included traditional themes. Medical schools should evaluate and incorporate missing elements in their MSs to reflect the institution’s own purpose and current societal needs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

OBJECTIVE: β-Cell dysfunction and insulin resistance magnify the risk of kidney injury in type 2 diabetes. The relationship between these factors and intraglomerular hemodynamics and kidney oxygen availability in youth with type 2 diabetes remains incompletely explored. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Fifty youth with type 2 diabetes (mean age ± SD 16 ± 2 years; diabetes duration 2.3 ± 1.8 years; 60% female; median HbA1c 6.4% [25th, 75th percentiles 5.9, 7.6%]; BMI 36.4 ± 7.4 kg/m2; urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio [UACR] 10.3 [5.9, 58.0] mg/g) 21 control participants with obesity (OCs; age 16 ± 2 years; 29% female; BMI 37.6 ± 7.4 kg/m2), and 20 control participants in the normal weight category (NWCs; age 17 ± 3 years; 70% female; BMI 22.5 ± 3.6 kg/m2) underwent iohexol and p-aminohippurate clearance to assess glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and renal plasma flow, kidney MRI for oxygenation, hyperglycemic clamp for insulin secretion (acute C-peptide response to glucose [ACPRg]) and disposition index (DI; ×103 mg/kg lean/min), and DXA for body composition. RESULTS: Youth with type 2 diabetes exhibited lower DI (0.6 [0.0, 1.6] vs. 3.8 [2.4, 4.5] × 103 mg/kg lean/min; P < 0.0001) and ACPRg (0.6 [0.3, 1.4] vs. 5.3 [4.3, 6.9] nmol/L; P < 0.001) and higher UACR (10.3 [5.9, 58.0] vs. 5.3 [3.4, 14.3] mg/g; P = 0.003) and intraglomerular pressure (77.8 ± 11.5 vs. 64.8 ± 5.0 mmHg; P < 0.001) compared with OCs. Youth with type 2 diabetes and OCs had higher GFR and kidney oxygen availability (relative hyperoxia) than NWCs. DI was associated inversely with intraglomerular pressure and kidney hyperoxia. CONCLUSIONS: Youth with type 2 diabetes demonstrated severe β-cell dysfunction that was associated with intraglomerular hypertension and kidney hyperoxia. Many studies have sought to overcome the two main limitations of the average method of ISO 9869-1—its long test duration and low accuracy. These studies reported that the reliability of the results is dependent on the temperature differences. This consensus was based on the results of studies that measured a few cases with specific temperature differences, and the convergence criteria utilized for the representative thermal transmittance (U-value) were rarely examined. This study analyzed the influence of the average temperature difference and test duration on the convergence characteristics and accuracy of U-value estimation using the average method. Data from a north-facing exterior wall with a theoretical U-value of 0.145 W/m2·K were measured between June 2022 and May 2023. The influences of different measurement conditions were analyzed for cases divided based on four measurement periods and 11 average air temperature differences. The findings show that an accurate U-value can be obtained from 7 days' worth of measurement data with an average temperature difference of 10 °C or higher and that the improvement in accuracy is minimal under stricter conditions. To achieve a convergence probability of over 90% for temperature differences of 10 °C or greater, the second and third criteria required measurement periods of 7 and 15 days respectively. Canine-mammary-gland tumors (CMTs) are prevalent in female dogs, with approximately 50% of them being malignant and often presenting as inoperable owing to their size or metastasis. Owing to poor outcomes, effective alternatives to conventional chemotherapy for humans are necessary. Two estrogen receptors, estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and estrogen receptor beta (ERβ), which act in opposition to each other, are involved, and CMT growth involves ERα through the phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3K)/AKT pathway. In this study, we aimed to identify the synergistic anti-cancer effects of ERB-041, an ERβ agonist, and genistein, an isoflavonoid from soybeans known to have ERβ-specific pseudo-estrogenic actions, on CMT-U27 and CF41.Mg CMT cell lines. ERB-041 and genistein synergistically inhibited cell proliferation and increased the number of annexin V-positive cells in both cell lines. Furthermore, we observed a synergistic increase in the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and cleaved caspase-3 expression. Additionally, cell-cycle arrest occurred through the synergistic regulation of cyclin D1 and cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4). We also found a synergistic decrease in the expression of ERα, and the expression of proteins involved in the PI3K/AKT pathway, including p-PI3K, phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), AKT, and mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR). In conclusion, ERB-041 and genistein exhibited a synergistic anticancer effect on CMTs, suggesting that cotreatment with ERB-041 and genistein is a promising treatment for CMTs. In this study, the inductor optimization design is performed by applying the Pareto optimization technique. As environmental problems emerge, the electric vehicle market is expanding, and accordingly, volume reduction and high efficiency of the onboard charger (OBC) are required. An OBC consists of a PFC stage and a DC/DC stage. The inductor is a major component in a converter and affects the volume and efficiency of the entire converter system. However, reducing the volume of the inductor leads to an increase in loss due to an increase in the change in flux density. Therefore, it is important to derive a suitable design for the target between the two parameters in the trade-off of loss and volume. This paper introduces the optimal design algorithm for boosting inductors of PFC converters in terms of volume and loss. Volume and loss are difficult to compare with each other, making it difficult to set weights. Therefore, Pareto optimization was applied which can be selected according to the needs and purposes of the decision-maker, without weighting as an optimization method. Through a series of procedures of applying Pareto optimization to the inductor design, several optimal inductor designs can be derived. At this time, the optimal designs become a set of designs in which the loss does not decrease without an increase in volume, or the volume does not decrease without an increase in loss. A designer can select a design with an appropriate volume and loss that meets the purpose of the design or preference. Therefore, through the proposed method, the inductor can be flexibly designed according to the target of the application. The proposed algorithm is applied to the interleaved totem-pole bridgeless boost PFC converter, to review its effectiveness. As a result, several inductor designs are derived in the search space, and various optimal designs are visualized through the Pareto Frontier. This facilitates comparative analysis of various inductor designs and helps designers select reasonable inductors. Pinus koraiensis, an economically and ecologically vital five-needle pine species, was surveyed for female and male strobilus production variation among 52 clones over five years in a seed orchard in Gangwon province of South Korea. We estimated heritability, effective population size and gene diversity, calculated maleness index, and drew parental balance curves for the strobilus production annually. Results demonstrated marked variation in female and male strobilus production among clones and years, particularly in male strobilus production. The maleness indices indicated a considerable deviation from sexual balance. Parental balance curves revealed that the top 20% of the most fertile clones contributed significantly to the total strobilus production. High heritability values underscored the substantial genetic influence on strobilus production. The gene diversity of orchard parents (GDp) was set as one (GDp = 1) considering panmictic situations, and then loss of gene diversity in the female gametes (GDf) was relatively estimated to be ranged from 0.096 (loss = 1 − GDf = 1 − 0.904, 9.6% in 2017) to 0.017 (= 1 − 0.983, 1.7% in 2020). Hypodontia, i.e., missing one or more teeth, is a relatively common human disease; however, oligodontia, i.e., missing six or more teeth, excluding the third molars, is a rare congenital disorder. Many genes have been shown to cause oligodontia in non-syndromic or syndromic conditions. In this study, we identified two novel PAX9 mutations in two non-syndromic oligodontia families. A mutational analysis identified a silent mutation (NM_006194.4: c.771G>A, p.(Gln257=)) in family 1 and a frameshift mutation caused by a single nucleotide duplication (c.637dup, p.(Asp213Glyfs*104)) in family 2. A minigene splicing assay revealed that the silent mutation resulted in aberrant pre-mRNA splicing instead of normal splicing. The altered splicing products are ones with an exon 4 deletion or using a cryptic 5' splicing site in exon 4. Mutational effects were further investigated using protein expression, luciferase activity assay and immunolocalization. We believe this study will not only expand the mutational spectrum of PAX9 mutations in oligodontia but also strengthen the diagnostic power related to the identified silent mutation. The Kir4.1 channel, an inwardly rectifying potassium ion (K+) channel, is located in the hair cells of the organ of Corti as well as the intermediate cells of the stria vascularis. The Kir4.1 channel has a crucial role in the generation of endolymphatic potential and maintenance of the resting membrane potential. However, the role and functions of the Kir4.1 channel in the progenitor remain undescribed. To observe the role of Kir4.1 in the progenitor treated with the one-shot ototoxic drugs (kanamycin and furosemide), we set the proper condition in culturing Immortomouse-derived HEI-OC1 cells to express the potassium-related channels well. And also, that was reproduced in mice experiments to show the important role of Kir4.1 in the survival of hair cells after treating the ototoxicity drugs. In our results, when kanamycin and furosemide drugs were cotreated with HEI-OC1 cells, the Kir4.1 channel did not change, but the expression levels of the NKCC1 cotransporter and KCNQ4 channel are decreased. This shows that inward and outward channels were blocked by the two drugs (kanamycin and furosemide). However, noteworthy here is that the expression level of Kir4.1 channel increased when kanamycin was treated alone. This shows that Kir4.1, an inwardly rectifying potassium channel, acts as an outward channel in place of the corresponding channel when the KCNQ4 channel, an outward channel, is blocked. These results suggest that the Kir4.1 channel has a role in maintaining K+ homeostasis in supporting cells, with K+ concentration compensator when the NKCC1 cotransporter and Kv7.4 (KCNQ4) channels are deficient. High-density lipoprotein (HDL) therapy has demonstrated beneficial effects in acute stroke and acute myocardial infarction models by reducing infarct size. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of reconstituted HDL (rHDL) on neointimal hyperplasia and elucidated its underlying mechanism using a balloon injury rat model. Our finding revealed a significant 37% reduction in the intima to media ratio in the arteries treated with 80 mg/kg rHDL compared to those subjected to injury alone (p < 0.05), indicating a specific inhibition of neointimal hyperplasia. In vivo analysis further supported the positive effects of rHDL by demonstrating a reduction in smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation and an increase in endothelial cell (EC) proliferation. Additionally, rHDL treatment led to decreased infiltration of leukocytes and downregulated the expression of matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9) in the neointimal area. Notably, rHDL administration resulted in decreased expression of VCAM1 and HIF1α, alongside increased expression of heme oxygenase 1 (HO1) and heat shock protein 27 (HSP27). Overexpression of HSP27 and HO1 effectively inhibited SMC proliferation. Moreover, rHDL-mediated suppression of injury-induced HIF1α coincided with upregulation of HSP27. Interestingly, HSP27 and HO1 had varying effects on the expression of chemokine receptors and rHDL did not exert significant effect on chemokine receptor expression in THP1 cells. These findings underscore the distinct roles of HSP27 and HO1 as potential regulatory factors in the progression of restenosis. Collectively, our study demonstrates that rHDL exerts a potent anti-neointimal hyperplasia effect by reducing leukocytes infiltration and SMC proliferation while promoting EC proliferation. Budgerigar fledgling disease (BFD) is a contagious disease caused by avian polyomavirus (APV) in psittacine birds and causes high mortality rates. Here, eight APV-positive cases were confirmed from dead parrots or parrot tissue samples by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Full-length genome sequencing showed high nucleotide identity (98.84–100%) between the APV strains. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that two genogroups were cocirculating in South Korea. The nucleotide sequences of five strains, collected from different parrot species, were identical; however, pathological lesions were observed in only two parrots, both aged 2 months. Pathology included necrotic spots in the liver, subcutaneous haemorrhage, hepatomegaly, ascites, intranuclear inclusion bodies, hepatocyte karyomegaly, hepatic necrosis, and bile duct proliferation. This suggests that the pathogenicity of APV might be host age-dependent regardless of the host species. This study improves our understanding of APV pathogenicity and provides a more detailed genetic characterization of APV strains. The industrial potential of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has extended beyond its traditional use in fermentation to various applications, including recombinant protein production. Herein, comparative genomics was performed with three industrial S. cerevisiae strains and revealed a heterozygous diploid genome for the 98‐5 and KSD‐YC strains (exploited for rice wine fermentation) and a haploid genome for strain Y2805 (used for recombinant protein production). Phylogenomic analysis indicated that Y2805 was closely associated with the reference strain S288C, whereas KSD‐YC and 98‐5 were grouped with Asian and European wine strains, respectively. Particularly, a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in FDC1, involved in the biosynthesis of 4‐vinylguaiacol (4‐VG, a phenolic compound with a clove‐like aroma), was found in KSD‐YC, consistent with its lack of 4‐VG production. Phenotype microarray (PM) analysis showed that KSD‐YC and 98‐5 displayed broader substrate utilization than S288C and Y2805. The SNPs detected by genome comparison were mapped to the genes responsible for the observed phenotypic differences. In addition, detailed information on the structural organization of Y2805 selection markers was validated by Sanger sequencing. Integrated genomics and PM analysis elucidated the evolutionary history and genetic diversity of industrial S. cerevisiae strains, providing a platform to improve fermentation processes and genetic manipulation. Bifunctional catalysts based on noble metals have achieved practical‐level performances in round‐trip energy conversion systems. However, the required amount of noble metals should be substantially reduced via a new catalyst design that can pursue the synergy of the constituent materials' intrinsic properties and architectural maneuver over reactant/product transport. In this study, cross‐stacked Ir and Pt nanowires resolved the bottlenecks of two reactions essential for the hydrogen‐based energy system: i) hydrogen spillover phenomenon between Pt and Ir nanowires to expedite the hydrogen oxidation reaction and ii) spacing Ir nanowires sufficiently to enhance the mass transport of the oxygen evolution reaction. Simultaneously accommodating the different strategies within the single catalyst layer, a new horizon to design a bifunctional electrode is proposed with the high performance of polymer electrolyte membrane unitized regenerative fuel cells: 47% of round‐trip efficiency at 0.5 A cm−2 with total noble metal loading < 0.3 mg cm−2. Objectives: The presented systematic review explores the empirical studies regarding environmental design strategies that support adaptive behaviors while improving problem behaviors of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Background: People with IDD perceive and interact with their environment differently from people without disabilities. Design research has not always considered these differences, and environmental design solutions are not commonly found. Methods: The review process followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocols. The study reports the findings from the systematic review of 32 peer-reviewed studies published in EBSCO, ERIC, ProQuest, PsycINFO, MEDLINE CINAHL, Consumer Health Complete (EBSCOhost), and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection between 1990 and 2020. In addition, quality assessment tools appraised the study's quality. Results: The review identified 26 design strategies. Five themes qualitatively organized these environmental attributes: coherence, affordance, control, stimulation, and restoration. Conclusion: The evidence indicates that adequately designed physical environments can support the adaptive behaviors of people with IDD while alleviating behavioral problems. Accurate and rapid in situ measurements of the thermal resistance (R-value) of building envelopes are necessary for assessing planned performance and identifying appropriate retrofitting strategies. Although there are several approaches for in situ R-value estimation, the average method of ISO 9869-1 based on the heat flow meter method is the most widely used. However, discrepancies between theoretical and in situ R-values are frequently reported in many studies that employ this method. This study aimed to investigate the cause of this discrepancy in estimating in situ R-values of highly insulated building walls using the average method of ISO 9869-1 by conducting long-term experiments. This study was made possible due to a specially constructed test wall wherein more sensors were installed than are required by the ISO 9869-1 standard. The findings showed that discrepancies between heat fluxes on the internal surface and heat passing through the wall is the main cause of the error in in situ R-value estimation. Measurement results from winter showed that deviation from the theoretical R-value was 9.12% for the average method and 0.6% for the extended average method, determined by additionally using the temperature and heat flux inside the wall. Introduction: This study aimed to assess the role of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence level monitoring for identifying reservoirs of the outbreak pathogen during two consecutive outbreaks caused by Enterococcus faecium and Staphylococcus capitis at a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The secondary aim was to evaluate the long-term sustainability of the infection control measures employed one year after the final intervention measures. Methods: Two outbreaks occurred during a 53-day period in two disconnected subunits, A and B, that share the same attending physicians. ATP bioluminescence level monitoring, environmental cultures, and hand cultures from healthcare workers (HCW) in the NICU were performed. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) typing was carried out to investigate the phylogenetic relatedness of the isolated strains. Results: Four cases of E. faecium sepsis (patients A-8, A-7, A-9, B-8) and three cases of S. capitis sepsis (patients A-16, A-2, B-8) were diagnosed in six preterm infants over a span of 53 days. ATP levels remained high on keyboard 1 of the main station (2076 relative light unit [RLU]/100 cm2) and the keyboard of bed A-9 (4886 RLU/100 cm2). By guidance with the ATP results, environmental cultures showed that E. faecium isolated from the patients and from the main station's keyboard 1 were genotypically indistinguishable. Two different S. capitis strains caused sepsis in three patients. A total 77.8% (n = 7/9) of S. capitis cultured from HCW's hands were genotypically indistinguishable to the strains isolated from A-2 and A-16. The remaining 22.2% (n = 2/9) were genotypically indistinguishable to patient B-8. Three interventions to decrease the risk of bacterial transmission were applied, with the final intervention including a switch of all keyboards and mice in NICU-A and B to disinfectable ones. Post-intervention prospective monitoring up to one year showed a decrease in blood culture positivity (P = 0.0019) and catheter-related blood stream infection rate (P = 0.016) before and after intervention. Conclusion: ATP monitoring is an effective tool in identifying difficult to disinfect areas in NICUs. Non-medical devices may serve as reservoirs of pathogens causing nosocomial outbreaks, and HCWs' hands contribute to bacterial transmission in NICUs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: People experienced various stress and psychological responses to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to examine the changes in emergency medical services (EMSs) utilization by self-harm patients in early pandemic and the impacts of physical distancing measures on the EMSs utilization by self-harm patients. Methods: Data for all patients presenting to emergency departments (EDs) after self-harm injuries including self-poisoning were collected from the National ED Information System (NEDIS). Characteristics of patients in two study regions (urban versus rural) were compared. Weekly and annual ED visit rates after self-harm (VRSH) per 100,000 population were calculated. Mobile phone mobility index (MPMI) was calculated by dividing a region's aggregated mobile phone mobility by mid-year population. Joinpoint regression analysis was conducted to assess changes in 2020 over pre-pandemic years. Test for presence of joinpoint at the end of 2019 was performed. A cross-correlation function was used to estimate the maximal morphological similarity and lag time between changes in MPMI and VRSH. Results: In 2020, in early phases of the pandemic, there was a moderate decline in self-harm-related ED visits to 30,797 from a continuously increasing trend seen in previous years. However, proportions of young people (50.1%) and females (62.3%) increased over previous years. VRSHs among women and young people aged 15–34 years showed higher levels in 2020 than in previous five years. There was a significant decrease in the proportion of patients transported directly from the scene. In addition, there was a polarization of mental state upon ED arrival from alert and unresponsive. The median correlation coefficient between MPMI values and VRSH values was 0.601 (interquartile range [IQR]: 0.539–0.619) in urban regions and 0.531 (IQR: 0.454–0.595) in rural regions, showing no statistically significant difference between the two. Conclusion: Physical distancing measures adopted to prevent the spread of transmittable diseases following the pandemic had the effect of decreasing ED visits due to self-harm. When the pandemic has ended, and daily life has been restored, it will be particularly important to pay attention to the increased numbers of self-harm patients expected to visit EDs compared to during the pandemic. This study aims to investigate the association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) using a population-based cohort study. We used data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service–Health Screening Cohort. Participants were selected based on diagnosis and treatment codes, and CKD participants were 1:4 matched with control participants. Covariates, including demographic and lifestyle factors, and comorbidities were considered in the analysis. We calculated the incidence rate and hazards ratio of SSNHL. A total of 16,713 CKD participants and 66,852 matched controls were enrolled. The CKD group had a higher incidence rate of SSNHL compared to the control group at 2.16 and 1.74 per 1000 person-years, respectively. The CKD group exhibited a higher risk for SSNHL compared to the control group with adjusted HR 1.21. In the subgroup analysis, the presence of cardiovascular risk factors was associated with a diminished effect of CKD on the risk of developing SSNHL. This study provides strong evidence of an association between CKD per se and an increased risk of SSNHL even after adjusting for various demographic and comorbidity factors. Scutellaria baicalensis has long been used in Asian traditional medicine to prevent and treat suppurative dermatitis, allergic diseases, inflammation, hyperlipemia, and arteriosclerosis. Oroxylin A is a flavone present in Scutellaria baicalensis. Because the root extracts of Scutellaria baicalensis have been shown to have anti-dermatitis effects, the authors investigated the effects of oroxylin A on chemically induced atopic dermatitis (AD) in an in vivo AD model induced by 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) in BALB/c mice. CDNB-induced skin hypertrophy and accumulation of mast cells in the epidermis and dermis were significantly decreased by oroxylin A. Soft actuators that execute diverse motions have recently been proposed to improve the usability of soft robots. Nature-inspired actuators, in particular, are emerging as a means of accomplishing efficient motions based on the flexibility of natural creatures. In this research, we present an actuator capable of executing multi-degree-of-freedom motions that mimics the movement of an elephant's trunk. Shape memory alloys (SMAs) that actively react to external stimuli were integrated into actuators constructed of soft polymers to imitate the flexible body and muscles of an elephant's trunk. The amount of electrical current provided to each SMA was adjusted for each channel to achieve the curving motion of the elephant's trunk, and the deformation characteristics were observed by varying the quantity of current supplied to each SMA. It was feasible to stably lift and lower a cup filled with water by using the operation of wrapping and lifting objects, as well as effectively performing the lifting task of surrounding household items of varying weights and forms. The designed actuator is a soft gripper that incorporates a flexible polymer and an SMA to imitate the flexible and efficient gripping action of an elephant trunk, and its fundamental technology is expected to be used as a safety-enhancing gripper that requires environmental adaptation. In recent years, many researchers have aimed to construct robotic soft grippers that can handle fragile or unusually shaped objects without causing damage. This study proposes a smart textile-composite actuator and its application to a soft robotic gripper. An active fiber and an inactive fiber are combined together using knitting techniques to manufacture a textile actuator. The active fiber is a shape memory alloy (SMA) that is wire-wrapped with conventional fibers, and the inactive fiber is a knitting yarn. A knitted textile structure is flexible, with an excellent structure retention ability and high compliance, which is suitable for developing soft grippers. A driving source of the actuator is the SMA wire, which deforms under heating due to the shape memory effect. Through experiments, the course-to-wale ratio, the number of bundling SMA wires, and the driving current value needed to achieve the maximum deformation of the actuator were investigated. Three actuators were stitched together to make up each finger of the gripper, and layer placement research was completed to find the fingers' suitable bending angle for object grasping. Finally, the gripping performance was evaluated through a test of grasping various object shapes, which demonstrated that the gripper could successfully lift flat/spherical/uniquely shaped objects. Flower shape is a key trait of ornamental and commercial importance in breeding programs for chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.). Understanding the genetic basis of the phenotypic variation seen in inflorescence-related traits will contribute to genetic improvement and to the development of new varieties. In this study, we investigated the genetic determinants of inflorescence traits using an F1 segregating population derived from a cross between two cultivars with different inflorescence types, 'Puma White' (anemone-shaped inflorescence) and 'Dancer' (single-type inflorescence). Genotyping-by-sequencing identified 26,847 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) between 182 F1 progenies and their parents. A genome-wide association study highlighted 17 SNPs mapping to 15 GBS-tags as being significantly associated with three inflorescence traits: flower type, number of ray florets, and disk flower diameter. No single SNP was associated with flower diameter. These SNP-harboring sequences defined ten candidate genes associated with inflorescence traits. We explored the transcript levels for nine of these in flower buds, disk florets and ray florets using publicly available genome and transcriptome data. Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), an intercellular lipid mediator, is increased in the bronchoalveolar fluids of patients with asthma after allergen exposure. LPA administration exaggerates allergic responses, and the type 2 LPA receptor (LPA2) has been reported as a therapeutic target for asthma. However, results with LPA2 agonist and antagonist along with LPA2 gene deficient mice have been controversial and contradictory. We compared the effects of LPA2 antagonist (H2L5186303) and agonist (GRI977143) in a single experimental protocol of ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic asthma by treating drugs before antigen sensitization or challenge. H2L5186303 showed strong suppressive efficacy when administered before OVA sensitization and challenge, such as suppression of airway hyper responsiveness, inflammatory cytokine levels, mucin production, and eosinophil numbers. However, GRI977143 showed significant suppression when administered before an OVA challenge. Increases in eosinophil and lymphocyte counts in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, Th2 cytokine levels, inflammatory scores, and mucin production were differentially ameliorated by the two drugs. The results demonstrate the multiple roles of LPA2 in asthmatic responses. We suggest that the development of LPA2 antagonists would achieve better therapeutic efficacy against asthma than agonists. A one-pot, three-component difunctionalization of quinones with indoles and arylamines has been developed to synthesize indole functionalized p -iminoquinones derivatives. The approach employed AgOAc as the catalyst in the presence of 3-chlorophenylboronic acid, giving a series of indole functionalized p -iminoquinones derivatives in moderate to good yields. High doses of ionizing radiation can cause cardiovascular diseases (CVDs); however, the effects of <100 mGy radiation on CVD remain underreported. Endothelial cells (ECs) play major roles in cardiovascular health and disease, and their function is reduced by stimuli such as chronic disease, metabolic disorders, and smoking. However, whether exposure to low-dose radiation results in the disruption of similar molecular mechanisms in ECs under diabetic and non-diabetic states remains largely unknown; we aimed to address this gap in knowledge through the molecular and functional characterization of primary human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) derived from patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D-HAECs) and normal HAECs in response to low-dose radiation. To address these limitations, we performed RNA sequencing on HAECs and T2D-HAECs following exposure to 100 mGy of ionizing radiation and examined the transcriptome changes associated with the low-dose radiation. Compared with that in the non-irradiation group, low-dose irradiation induced 243 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) (133 down-regulated and 110 up-regulated) in HAECs and 378 DEGs (195 down-regulated and 183 up-regulated) in T2D-HAECs. We also discovered a significant association between the DEGs and the interferon (IFN)-I signaling pathway, which is associated with CVD by Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, protein–protein network analysis, and module analysis. This study investigated the potential utilization of glass microfiber filters (GMFs) reinforced with hetero polyacid (12-phosphotungstic acid, H 3 PW 12 O 40 ; PWA) in hydrogen fuel cells. Nano-sized PWA powders were confirmed through XRD and Raman spectra. Several analytical techniques confirmed the preservation of the Keggin structure of PWA following the absorption (interfacial contact) procedure using the dip-coating wetness method with water as the solvent. Proton conductivity under wet conditions exhibited a proportional increase with temperature. The research comprehensively explored the impact of the PWA membrane on microstructure, physicochemical properties, proton conductivity, and fuel cell performance. It was observed that the incorporation of Pd-decorated PWA enhances membrane mechanical strength, improves durability, and prevents membrane reduction from water contact, addressing PWA's high water solubility. Hydrogen fuel cells were constructed using both a pristine PWA membrane and a double-layered membrane (PWA/Pd). The PWA/Pd membrane demonstrated superior hydrogen fuel cell performance, achieving a higher maximum power density (MPD) of 16 mW cm−2 at a current density of 50 mA cm−2, compared to pristine PWA (1.03 mW cm−2) under identical conditions at 40 °C. Tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV) is an emerging pathogen that cause severe yellow leaf disorder syndrome in tomato plants. In this study, we aimed to generate a recombinant ToCV tagged with green fluorescent protein (GFP) to enable real-time monitoring of viral infection in living plants. Transformation of the full-length cDNA construct of ToCV RNA1 into Escherichia coli resulted in instability issues, which were successfully overcome by inserting a plant intron into RNA1. Subsequently, a GFP tag was engineered into a cDNA construct of ToCV RNA2. The resulting recombinant ToCV-GFP could systemically infect Nicotiana benthamiana plants, and GFP expression was observed along the major veins. Utilizing ToCV-GFP, we also showed that ToCV engages in antagonistic relationships with two different tomato-infecting viruses in mixed infections in N. benthamiana. Thioredoxin (Trx) is a central component of the redox control system that maintains the redox homeostasis critical for organism survival. Owing to its central role in survival, Trx is a prospective target for novel antimicrobial agents. Herein, we report a 1.45 Å high-resolution structure of Trx1 of Acinetobacter baumannii (abTrx1), an antibiotic-resistant pathogenic superbug. Although abTrx1 exhibited the canonical Trx fold, which consists of a four-stranded β-sheet surrounded by four α-helices, structural differences were detected in the loop forming the C-X-X-C redox center and the C-terminal. The unique CAPC sequence of the C-X-X-C motif in the abTrx1 redox center was characterized by mutagenesis. Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a condition caused by drugs that leads to abnormal hepatic function. Hepatotoxicity caused by DILI has been shown to be due to cellular stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, cell necrosis and apoptosis and many types of hepatotoxicity, such as phospholipidosis, steatosis and hepatitis, commonly share intracellular molecular mechanisms. Metabolomics can be useful for mechanism-based toxicity evaluations and has been recently utilized as a scientific technique that can effectively predict the risk factors for chemical substances. To evaluate the key events in hepatotoxicity associated with lysosomal phospholipase A2 (LPLA2) inhibition by cationic amphiphilic drugs (CADs), LPLA2 inhibition assays and phospholipid accumulation assays were performed in HepG2 cells. Additionally, to suggest the integrative molecular mechanisms of hepatotoxicity by CADs, we profiled intracellular metabolites. Cell-based metabolomics was performed using an UPLC-Orbitrap-MS instrument equipped with heated electrospray ionization in positive and negative ion modes. As a result, CADs such as amiodarone, fluoxetine, chlorpromazine and tamoxifen significantly inhibited LPLA2 and accumulated phospholipids. In metabolomics, a total of 17 significant metabolites were identified, and the changed metabolite types were as follows: nucleotide sugars, conjugated bile acids, branched-chain amino acids, polyamine biosynthesis, and long-chain fatty acid and glycerophospholipid metabolism. Tianeptine tablets are currently marketed to be designed for immediate-release tablets. The tianeptine has a short half-life, making it difficult to design for sustained-release tablets and achieve bioequivalence with the tianeptine immediate-release tablet (Stablon®). We established the in vitro–in vivo correlation (IVIVC) of three formulations of tianeptine sustained-release tablets according to their granule size. To evaluate sustained drug release, in vitro tests were performed in pH 1.2 media for 24 h. In vivo pharmacokinetic analysis was performed following oral administration of reference drug and test drug to beagle dogs. The dissolution profile revealed delayed release as the size of the granules increased. The dissolution results were confirmed in pharmacokinetic analysis, showing that the half-life was delayed as granule size increased. The final formulation and reference drug showed an equivalent area under the curve (AUC). Through this, IVIVC was established according to the size of the tianeptine sodium granules, which is the purpose of this study, and was used to predict in vivo pharmacokinetics from the formulation composition. The quenching sensitivity of an Al–Zn–Mg–Cu alloy containing trace amounts of Sc and Zr is studied by interrupted quenching experiments. Electrical conductivity of the quenched samples and the hardness of the samples subjected to one-stage and two-stage aging, are measured to construct the time–temperature–transformation (TTT) curves and the time–temperature–property (TTP) curves. It is revealed that the quenching sensitivity of the alloy is mainly influenced by the precipitation of coarse η phases during slow quenching, which preferentially nucleate and grow at grain boundaries and at the Al3(Sc, Zr) dispersoids that are incoherent with the matrix. The quenching sensitivity increases with the size and quantity of the coarse η phases. The nose temperature is 290 °C for both TTT and TTP curves, where the phase transformation rate is the fastest and the quenching sensitivity is the highest. Compared to one-stage aged samples, two-stage aged samples exhibit lower quench sensitivity due to the reduced transformation rate from η′ phases to η phases after slow quenching. The quenching sensitive temperatures range from 206 to 358 °C for the one-stage aged samples and from 213 to 352 °C for the two-stage aged samples. Early life stress (ELS) has been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. We examined whether ELS was associated with autonomic function and stress reactivity among individuals with coronary heart disease (CHD). We included patients with stable CHD from two parallel studies, the Mental Stress Ischemia Prognosis Study (MIPS) and the Myocardial Infarction and Mental Stress Study 2 (MIMS2), and assessed ELS using the Early Trauma Inventory–Self‐Report–Short Form. Participants underwent a laboratory‐based mental stress task while undergoing ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring. We used multivariate linear regression models to estimate the associations between ELS and heart rate variability (HRV; low frequency [LF], high frequency [HF], and LF and HF [LH] ratio). The analytic sample included 405 MIPS and 284 MIMS2 participants. Most participants endorsed at least one experience of ELS (92.2%). Although we did not observe associations between ELS and HRV outcomes in the overall sample, ELS was associated with lower LH ratio HRV during recovery in the posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) subgroup, ELS x PTSD interaction, p =.041. In the MIMS2 subgroup, ELS was associated with lower resting period LF HRV, B̂$ \widehat{B} $ = −0.16 ln ms2; 95% CI [−0.31, −0.02]. Exposure to physical trauma was associated with decreased HF HRV overall reactivity only among participants with high to moderate depressive symptoms, B̂$ \widehat{B} $ = −0.52 ln ms2 vs. B̂$ \widehat{B} $ = 0.01 ln ms2, p =.013. • Shear wave elastography (SWE) and high-definition (HD) color provide useful supportive information for the evaluation of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). • SWE discriminated CTS severity, and detected CTS patients with normal nerve conduction study results. • 50.12-kPa for median nerve (MN) stiffness at the wrist and 1.91 for the MN stiffness ratio are cutoff values for CTS diagnosis. The diagnostic values of measuring median nerve (MN) stiffness and vascularity with shear wave elastography (SWE) and high-definition (HD) color were investigated in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Seventy patients (123 wrists) with CTS and thirty-five healthy volunteers (70 wrists) were enrolled. Based on nerve conduction studies (NCS), the patients were subdivided into NCS-negative, mild-to-moderate, and severe CTS groups. MN and abductor pollicis brevis (APB) SWE and MN HD color were performed on a longitudinal plane. The mild-to-moderate and severe CTS groups showed increased MN stiffness at the wrist and MN stiffness ratio (wrist-to forearm) compared with the control (p < 0.001). The NCS-negative CTS group showed increased MN stiffness at the wrist (p = 0.022) and MN stiffness ratio (p = 0.032) compared with the control. The severe CTS group showed increased MN stiffness at the wrist compared with the mild-to-moderate CTS group (p = 0.034). The cutoff-values in diagnosing NCS-confirmed CTS were 50.12 kPa for MN stiffness at the wrist, 1.91 for MN stiffness ratio, and grade 1 for HD color. SWE and HD color are good supportive tools in diagnosing and assessing severity in CTS. SWE and HD color demonstrated that MN in CTS was associated with increased stiffness and hypervascularity. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) promotes an anti-inflammatory process by inducing the development of M2 macrophages. We investigated whether modulating STAT6 activity in macrophages using AS1517499, the specific STAT6 inhibitor, affects the restoration of homeostasis after an inflammatory insult by regulating PPARγ expression and activity. Administration of AS1517499 suppressed the enhanced STAT6 phosphorylation and nuclear translocation observed in peritoneal macrophages after zymosan injection. In addition, AS1517499 delayed resolution of acute inflammation as evidenced by enhanced secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, reduced secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines in PLF and supernatants from peritoneal macrophages, and exaggerated neutrophil numbers and total protein levels in PLF. We demonstrate temporal increases in annexin A1 (AnxA1) protein and mRNA levels in peritoneal lavage fluid (PLF), peritoneal macrophages, and spleen in a murine model of zymosan-induced acute peritonitis. In vitro priming of mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM) and peritoneal macrophages with AnxA1 induced STAT6 activation with enhanced PPARγ expression and activity. Using AS1517499, we demonstrate that inhibition of STAT6 activation delayed recovery of PPARγ expression and activity, as well as impaired efferocytosis. S6K1 serves as an important signaling regulator of cell proliferation and growth in the mTOR signaling pathway. Excessive activation of the mTOR/S6K1 signaling pathway promotes abnormal cell growth and survival, thereby resulting in tumorigenesis. The roles of S6K1 in protein synthesis and metabolism are well known, but an additional role of S6K1 as a gene transcription regulator has not been much understood. Here, we demonstrated that S6K1 is dynamically distributed in the cytoplasm and nuclei of human cervical cancer cells. S6K1 nuclear localization was serum dependent and serum deprivation or rapamycin treatment inhibited S6K1 Thr389 phosphorylation and, thereby, S6K1 was retained in the cytoplasm. Furthermore, we found that endogenous S6K1 interacted with CREB in the cervical cancer cells. Additionally, S6K1 upregulated the CRE-driven promoter luciferase activity. The proto-oncogene c- JUN , which has several CREs, was attenuated in the S6K1 knockdown cervical cancer cells. The binding of CREB/S6K1 to the c- JUN promoter, altered by serum restimulation, was associated with active epigenetic markers. In HeLa cell, 891 promoter regions, to which S6K1 directly binds, were detected. To compare the effect of intervention providing home modifications and assistive devices based on MOHO theory with home exercise on people with disability in time use, competence and values of occupational performance and activity limitations. Participants were 20 people with disabilities due to deficits in central nervous system. Eleven people in the experimental group partook in environmental modifications and assistive device intervention and nine people in the control partook in home exercise programmes. A total of eight sessions were progressed, one pre-test, six sessions of interventions and one post-test. Occupational Questionnaire (OQ) was used to evaluate one's time use. Occupational Self Assessment (OSA) was used to test the competence and values of one's everyday occupational performance. Activity Limitations Measure (ACTIVLIM) was used to assess the activity limitation of one's functional ability. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to analyse the comparison of the pre-post of time use, competence and values of occupational performance, and activity limitations. Mann–Whitney U was used to compare between both groups. Among the four occupational areas of OQ, the participation time in ADL significantly increased and rest significantly decreased in the experimental group (p<.05). The competence of occupational performance also increased in the experimental group whereas the values of occupational performance increased in the control group (p<.05). The activity limitation significantly decreased in control group (p<.05) but not in the experimental group. Using the interaction between human and environment for environmental modification increased the time use in occupational participation and competence to perform occupation in people with disability. By applying MOHO theory to evaluate and modify one's home environment and activity performance, we could comprehend the life style of clients and suggest opportunities to actively participate in ADLs. We investigated the effects of N -(2,5-dichlorophenyl)-4-(furan-2-yl)-2-methyl-5-oxo-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline-3-carboxamide (AR420626), an FFA3 agonist, in in vivo models of chemically induced allergic asthma and eczema in BALB/c mice. Administration of AR420626 decreased the number of immune cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and skin. AR420626 suppressed inflammatory cytokine expression in the lung and skin tissues. Histological examination revealed that AR420626 suppressed inflammation in the lungs and skin. Purpose: First-year students can form a preconception based on life experiences before entering college and identifying learners’ existing characteristics can be useful foundation data for curriculum development. This study examines what preconceptions freshman students had about medicine before entering medical school. Methods: A total of 110 first-year students were asked about what preconceptions they had about “medicine”. A total of 1,124 data were used in the content analysis method. Results: The results were extracted into 5, and 12 twelve categories. On the theme of “scientific discipline”, the knowledge students had about general health was based on scant expertise and little evidence. Students perceived medicine as Western and scientific, considering Korean traditional medicine as unscientific. Students believed that “medical practice” should be a “disease treatment” and “patient-centered” approach rather than a “social responsibility”. In “the role of the doctor”, students were concerned about the doctor's being financially stable on the positive side, and about the high-intensity workload on the negative side. In “medical education”, students believed that studying medicine would be “hard and difficult” because of the “importance of memorizing” and “extensive study load”. In “specialty stereotype”, students had biases that were mostly concentrated on “psychiatry” and “surgery” Conclusion: Perception of “medicine” has been revealed to a varied range of themes, but some have been inaccurate or unrealistic. These prejudices and groundless beliefs have a gap with the learning outcomes that students should achieve in the curriculum, and these preconceptions seem to have been influenced by South Korea’s unique cultural context. An atom-economical and environmentally benign approach for the synthesis of 3-indolylquinones was achieved successfully via direct oxidative C–C coupling of quinones / hydroquinones with indoles using (NH4)2 S2 O8 in dichloroethane at 80 °C. The efficiency of this catalytic approach was established by a broad scope of substrates involving quinones and hydroquinones to give high yields (61–93%) of 3-indolylquinones. The present protocol is simple, practical, and show good functional group tolerance. In addition, the obtained 3-indolylnaphthoquinones were conducted to further transformation to synthesize 2-amino-3-indolylnaphthoquinone and polycyclic N -heterocycles, respectively. Objective: To determine the percentage of pharmacies in Hidalgo County, Texas, with unrestricted over-the-counter access to levonorgestrel emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs). Unrestricted over-the-counter access means product is available directly to consumer on store shelf, in-stock the day of data collection, and with no security barriers present (such as locked cabinet or individual locked product container), and to compare this access to that of other reproductive health items.Study Design: We conducted in-person secret shopper surveys from October 2018 to March 2019, recording in-stock over-the-counter availability of levonorgestrel ECPs, security barriers, and price. We collected the same information for condom multipacks, ovulation prediction test kits, and pregnancy tests.Results: Out of the 76 pharmacies surveyed, 31 (40.8%) sold levonorgestrel ECPs over-the-counter, 23 (30.3%) had product in-stock over-the-counter and two (2.6%) had unrestricted over-the-counter access. Other reproductive health items such as condom multipacks, ovulation prediction test kits and pregnancy tests had unrestricted over-the-counter access in at least 33 (43.4%, p < 0.01) pharmacies. Of the chain pharmacies, 30 (73.2%) sold levonorgestrel ECPs over-the-counter with and without security barriers, while only one (2.9%) of the 35 independent pharmacies sold levonorgestrel ECPs over-the-counter with security barriers (p < 0.001).Conclusions: While previous research has noted high prevalence of levonorgestrel ECP availability in pharmacies, potential purchasers of over-the-counter levonorgestrel ECPs encounter access barriers not associated with other reproductive health products. These additional access barriers to levonorgestrel ECPs may increase consumer discomfort, decrease privacy, and delay access.Implications: Advocacy efforts may be needed to promote unrestricted access to over-the-counter emergency contraceptives on par with other reproductive health items. Thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) is a central component in the thioredoxin system by involving in catalyzing the reduction of thioredoxin, which is critical for organism survival. Because this system is essential, it is a promising target for novel antimicrobial agents. Herein, we solved the 1.9 Å high‐resolution structure of TrxR from Acinetobacter baumannii Thioredoxin reductase (AbTrxR), which is a Gram‐negative, pathogenic bacterium and a drug‐resistant superbug. AbTrxR was cofactor‐free and formed a dimer in solution. AbTrxR contained a longer dimerization loop2 and a shorter β7‐β8 connecting loop than other TrxRs. AbTrxR cofactor‐free form exhibited a flavin‐oxidizing (FO) conformation, whose NADPH domain was located close to the dimeric interface. Purpose: This study aims to analyze pre-clerkship medical students’ learning strategies and perceptions in online classes during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Methods: To develop the survey items, 20 pre-clerkship students were interviewed about their learning experiences in the first semester of 2020. A total of 425 pre-clerkship students have participated in the survey, which comprised four parts (general experience, learning strategies, important features, and overall satisfaction). Results: Before classes began, students generally had “neutral expectations” about online classes (2.90 out of 5). At the end of the semester, overall satisfaction with the curriculum was moderate (3.04 out of 5). Premedical students reported lower scores in “daily study hours” and “regular lifestyle” and higher scores in “experience of playing recorded lectures solely for an attendance check” (p<0.001). In addition, first-year premedical students not only showed significantly lower utilization of learning strategies compared to other grades (p<0.001). Conclusion: Although pre-clerkship students mostly shared similar perceptions and behaviors in their learning regardless of grade level, some characteristics were either more prominent in premedical students on the whole or limited to first-year premedical students. This article presents a dc-link capacitor lifetime improvement method for three-level photovoltaic hybrid active neutral-point clamped inverters in full modulation index range. The capacitors are one of the components with vulnerable reliability in a power conversion system. The dc-link capacitor current ripples lead to temperature rise and wear-out failure of the capacitors. The accumulated thermo-mechanical damages from the temperature rise reduce the capacitor lifetime and reliability of the system. The proposed modulation method suppresses effectively the dc-link capacitor current ripple to improve the capacitor lifetime. In this article, the proposed method is discussed via a comparison with conventional space-vector pulsewidth modulation in full modulation index range. The modulation index range is divided into two regions, namely medium-vector modulation and hybrid modulation region. The capacitor lifetime is evaluated by the capacitor lifetime model according to the modulation methods and modulation regions. The population dynamics of Stenothoe valida Dana, 1852 were studied at Cheongsapo beach of Busan, Republic of Korea, from March 2019 to March 2020. Sampling was conducted once a month at low tide during spring tides. Specimens were grouped by the cephalic length at 0.025 mm intervals, and classified into four categories: females, ovigerous females, males and juveniles. The sex ratio, defined as females : total males + females, exceeded 0.5 during most of the study period. Brood size was significantly coupled with ovigerous female size. Two to four cohorts appeared at each study period. New cohorts occurred at almost every sampling except in the samples Jun-2, and Nov-2. Life span was estimated at 1-2 months. The juvenile ratio, the ratio of ovigerous females, and the recruitment rate estimated by FiSAT were commonly high in summer and winter. The life history of S. valida was not coupled with water temperature, but had a strong seasonal pattern. Résumé: La dynamique de population de Stenothoe valida Dana, 1852 a été étudiée sur la plage de Cheongsapo, Busan, Corée du Sud, de mars 2019 à mars 2020. L'échantillonnage a été effectué mensuellement, à marée basse au cours des marées de vives eaux. Les spécimens ont été groupés par leur longueur céphalothoracique avec des intervalles de 0,025 mm, et classés en 4 catégories : femelles, femelles ovigères, mâles et juvéniles. Le sex-ratio défini comme femelles/total males + femelles est au dessus de 0,5 pendant la plupart de la période étudiée. La taille de la portée a été significativement couplée avec la taille des femelles ovigères. Deux à quatre cohortes sont apparues à chaque période étudiée. De nouvelles cohortes apparaissent dans presque chaque récolte sauf celles des 2 juin et 2 novembre. La durée de vie est estimée à 1-2 mois. Le ratio de juvéniles, le ratio de femelles ovigères et le taux de recrutement, estimé par FiSAT a été communément élevé en été et en hiver. The emergence of the disease entity of glucocorticoid-responsive systemic immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related pancreatobiliary disease has generated substantial attention among the international gastroenterology society. IgG4-related pancreatobiliary disease includes type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) and IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis (IgG4-SC). The typical manifestations of IgG4-related pancreatobiliary disease are cholestatic liver dysfunction, obstructive jaundice, and weight loss, although it may present with no clinical symptoms. Since it mimics tumors on imaging, AIP/IgG4-SC may often be misdiagnosed as pancreatic or biliary cancer. The endoscopic armamentarium for the diagnosis of IgG4-related pancreatobiliary disease includes endoscopic ultrasonography, intraductal ultrasonography, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, and cholangioscopy. The role of endoscopic tissue acquisition is two-fold in the diagnosis of IgG4-related pancreatobiliary disease: exclusion of cancer and procurement of histopathological proof for diagnosis of AIP/IgG4-SC, which can also be achieved by adding the immunohistochemistry for IgG4. Our review article addresses the role of various endoscopic examinations in diagnosing IgG4-related pancreatobiliary disease, focusing on the differentiation of this condition from pancreatobiliary malingnancies. This paper proposes a new base material, a mixture of alcohol and water, for liquid scintillators. To date, there are no previous R&D studies for particle detectors with alcohol. In this study, 2-ethoxyethanol, which has a higher density than ethanol, was used to make an equivalent substance to the human body, namely, the skin or epidermis. This paper describes the brief synthesizing process of the alcohol-based liquid scintillator that was investigated and presents some of the feasible results. As one of its applications, a range (beam-path-length) measurement using an electron beam in medical physics is also described. Then, Monte Carlo simulation was performed for comparison with several other measurement results in medical physics. One of the intriguing results is that liquid scintillator component analysis can be performed through the pixel information stored in a mobile digital camera. Through the emission spectra of light, the component of the wavelength converting substances dissolved in the liquid scintillator can be known in the visible region without opening the sealed liquid scintillator. In the near future, the new alcohol-based liquid scintillator currently developed could be used for particle detector or medical imaging applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Display omitted] • Multiplex PCR using portable PCR device can detect P. carotovorum subsp. brasiliense and E. coli O157:H7 without interference. • Multiple amplicons were visualized using antigen-attached dual LFA strip. • The method can detect up to 102 CFU/g in six agricultural products, which is a risk of bacterial soft-rot and food-borne disease in 1 h. A portable multiplex polymerase chain reaction (mPCR)-dual LFA system was developed for the simultaneous detection of P. carotovorum subsp. brasiliense and E. coli O157:H7 in fresh agricultural products. The field applicability of the system was improved using a portable PCR device and dual LFA strip, enabling rapid and sufficiently sensitive results to be obtained within 60 min. The mPCR-LFA method was validated for each bacterial pure culture and six agricultural products, with successful detection of both bacteria up to 102 CFU/g, a sufficiently sensitive level for ensuring the safety of all fresh agricultural products. This study focuses on investigating the doping effect of molybdenum oxide (MoO X) on a p-type organic dinaphtho[2,3-b:2′,3′-f]thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (DNTT) thin-film transistor (TFT) and its implications for various electronic applications. Specifically, we examined the influence of the doping position of MoO X on the transistor performance. When MoO X was doped between the electrode and the semiconductor (ME-OTFT), it facilitated charge injection by reducing the surface roughness. Consequently, the on-current and mobility of the ME-OTFT slightly increased compared to the undoped device. Additionally, when MoO X was fully covered on the ME-OTFT (MF-OTFT), it caused hole accumulation at the interface between DNTT and MoO X , forming a top channel. As a result, the off-current significantly increased, leading to an on-off ratio of 8.74 A/A, indicating the operation in depletion mode. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrated p-type unipolar inverters using the MF-OTFT as a pull-down device and the DNTT TFT as a pull-up device. Specifically, we implemented a zero-V GS connection inverter and a diode connection inverter with a maximum voltage gain of 22.06 V/V. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the effects of MoO X doping and its potential for enhancing device performance in unipolar circuits applications.
