Sepsis is a public health problem worldwide. This study investigated the mechanism of miR-107 on sepsis-induced myocardial injury. Sepsis rat models were established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), and the cell model was established using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cardiomyocytes. Cardiac function indexes of rats were measured using echocardiography. Pathological changes in the rat myocardium were observed using histological staining. Expression of miR-107 in the serum of rats and in cardiomyocytes was detected after the treatment with miR-107 mimic and/or pcDNA3.1-PTEN, followed by assessment of cell cycle, proliferation, and apoptosis. Binding sites of miR-107 and PTEN were predicted. PTEN, PI3K, p-PI3K, AKT, and p-AKT levels in LPS-induced cardiomyocytes were measured. miR-107 was significantly downregulated in the serum of CLP rats and LPS-induced cardiomyocytes. miR-107 overexpression remarkably improved cardiac function and histological changes, decreased inflammatory factors, and alleviated the sepsis-induced myocardial injury in rats. In LPS-induced cardiomyocytes, miR-107 overexpression increased cardiomyocyte proliferation, inhibited apoptosis, and enhanced the proportion of cardiomyocytes arrested in S and G2/M phases. miR-107 targeted PTEN. PTEN overexpression partially reversed the inhibition of miR-107 mimic on cardiomyocyte apoptosis. miR-107 overexpression activated the PI3K/AKT pathway by inhibiting PTEN. To conclude, miR-107 activates the PI3K/AKT pathway by inhibiting PTEN, thus attenuating sepsis-induced myocardial injury and LPS-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a novel series-shunt hybrid active power filter based on fundamental magnetic potential self-balance is reported. It consists of three parts: a passive power filter, a voltage-source pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) converter and a series zero magnetic flux current transformer. The zero magnetic flux current transformer locating in series between the power supply and nonlinear loads presents low reactance to fundamental and high impedance to the harmonics automatically. And the harmonic voltage dropped on the zero magnetic flux current transformer can be detected in real time. The voltage-source PWM converter is controlled as a harmonic voltage source. Wherein, it is connected to the passive filters in series through an isolated transformer. Therefore the flow-in harmonic current will be less than before. The configuration, working principle and performance analysis of the designed hybrid active power filter are determined. The validity of the theory and excellent compensation characteristics are proved by an experimental prototype. The current distortion factor is decreased from 20.46% to 2.67% by using this hybrid active power filter. PbO2 nanoparticles were prepared using a simple hydrothermal method with β-PbO as precursor and ammonium peroxydisulfate as oxidant. During the hydrothermal condition with ammonium peroxydisulfate, the formed hydroxyl radical has played a key role in the oxidation of β-PbO to PbO2. The size of as-prepared PbO2 nanoparticles was in the range of 25–50 nm. Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was successfully prepared by the simple reduction reaction of graphene oxide by sodium borohydride and the obtained RGO was then incorporated into the PbO2 nanoparticles. The surface of ITO electrode was modified with the as-prepared PbO2/RGO nanocomposite. The constructed PbO2/RGO/ITO electrode was subsequently applied for the catalytic degradation of cationic red X-GRL which was an azo dye in wastewater. The effects of reaction time, applied current density, and initial concentration of dye on the color removal and COD removal were thoroughly investigated. All results demonstrated that the degradation performance of the electrode modified with PbO2/RGO nanocomposite was extremely excellent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel kind of ZnO based N-doped reduced graphene oxide (N-rGO-ZnO) porous nanomaterial was successfully synthesized by a two-step method. CO 2 and N 2 adsorption–desorption measurements and pore size analysis of N-doped reduced graphene oxide (N-rGO) and N-rGO-ZnO have been investigated and compared. What's more, the adsorption isotherms of N-rGO-ZnO material were measured at different temperatures, and it exhibited a large CO 2 adsorption ability of 3.55 mmol/g at 298 K and 1 atm. The impressive CO 2 adsorption selectivity over N 2 has also been calculated and determined to be 35.84 by a slope method, which indicates the potential application to separate CO 2 from flue gases.
