Abstract

This study investigates the effects of foreign direct investments on Labor productivity and analyzes the relation between capital efficiency and labor productivity using dummy variables regression model. This investigation includes foreign-, local-, and state-owned firms. In order to measure the impact of capital on total labor productivity, KL variable is employed in the model. Having found that KL is statistically significant, the analyze shows a positive spillover of foreign capital on labor productivity.

2. Early results of stroke-like supratentorial tumors surgical treatment

Abstract

Objective – to study early results of surgical treatment in 176 patients with supratentorial tumors (ST) with a stroke-like course. Materials and methods. The results of surgical treatment of 176 patients with stroke-like tumors were studied. They were treated at the urgent neurosurgery clinic of the Kyiv Emergency Hospital during the period from 2008 to 2015. The age of the patients was 20-70 years, the average age was (53.7 ± 13.4) years. There were 104 (59.1 %) men, 72 (40.9 %) women. Intracerebral tumors were diagnosed in 156 (88.6 %) cases, metastasis was observed in 35 (19.9%), 20 (11.4 %) patients have extracranial tumors Patients were divided into two groups depending on cerebrovascular accident: the group I – 103 patients had hemorrhagic type of cerebrovascular accident, the group II – 73 patients had ischemic type of cerebrovascular accident. In early postoperative period, CT and/or MRI was performed in all cases to detect postoperative complications and evaluate the radicality of surgical resection. An ophthalmologic review before and after surgery was performed. Results. Total resection was achieved in 68 (38.6 %) patients, near total – in 82 (46.6 %), subtotal – in 26 (14.8 %). All 176 patients had less than 70 points of Karnovsky scale before surgery, after treatment the number of this patients decreased to 36 (20.5 %) patients. Improvement of quality life was noted in regression of neurological deficits, restoration of functional disorders, high degree of social adaptation. Conclusions. The main criteria of successful surgical treatment of tumors with stroke-like course. is the survival of patients with radical surgical resection and satisfactory quality of life in the postoperative period. Factors that influence the removal of the tumors with stroke-like course are size of the lesion, its localization, and the histological characteristics of the tumors. Therapeutic tactics in patients with tumors with stroke-like course should be based on an individual approach. Adequate surgical removal of the tumors and hematomas evacuation improve the quality of life in most patients (79.5 %).

Abstract

In this work investigation of the influence of the polymeric cord of used tires composition on the course of the catalytic pyrolysis presents. It was found that with the collaborative catalytic pyrolysis of rubber and cord in a weight ratio of 1:1 the flow rate of the process and the mass fraction of volatile products are increased, which affects the increase of the efficiency and the decrease of the power consumption of the process. While studying co-pyrolysis process of polymeric cord and biomass it was revealed that the use of iron subgroup metal chlorides as a catalyst allowed decreasing the apparent activation energy in 30 kJs/mol compared to a non-catalytic process. The application of chlorides of iron subgroup metals can lead to the increase in the yield (up to 25 %) of gaseous products with high calorific value.

Abstract

The gases produced by fast pyrolysis method can be used as an alternative to fossil fuels. In order to use gaseous products of flash pyrolysis of carbon-containing biomass wastes effectively there is required its purification from resins. One of the promising ways of such purification is thermocatalytic conversion of tars with the production of volatile hydrocarbons. In current work thermocatalytic treatment of tar-containing gases obtained via biomass waste flash pyrolysis was studied. It was found that the use of zeolite catalysts on the base of iron subgroup metals leads to the decrease of tars content in the gaseous product of biomass fast pyrolysis as well as to the increase in ?1-?4 hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbon monoxide (II) concentration.

Abstract

In the present paper we report on the results of the process of heavy and residual hydrocarbons thermocatalytic processing with metals chlorides KCl, NaCl, MgCl2, AlCl3, FeCl2, FeCl3, ZnCl2, CoCl2 and NiCl2. The pyrolysis process was carried out with an experimental pyrolysis set-up in a temperature range from 450 to 650 °?. The experimental pyrolysis set-up consists of a metal fixed-bed reactor heated with the electric furnace. The study of the kinetics of the oil sludge pyrolysis process was carried out using the thermoscales TG 209 F1 (NETZSCH) with different heating rate (1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 °?/min). The oil-containing waste samples with the amount of crude oil 20 %wt. without a catalyst and with 5 %wt. CoCl2 were used for the analysis.

Abstract

The article aims to reveal the main features of the Bolshevik project to build the Kingdom of Reason in the USSR, associated with the radical reformatting of the relationship between the rational and irrational in the establishment of the socialist society. Theoretical sources include the works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, linking the construction of a new communist society to the demystification of social relations and the elimination of alienation and reification; the writings of Vladimir Lenin and other prominent figures of the Soviet state, devoted to the organization of planned economy and the widespread implementation of rational management methods; and the works of the outstanding educator Anton Makarenko, aimed at developing and implementing the idea of educating a new Soviet person. The article posits Bolshevism (Leninism) as the Russian version of socialist transformation, inheriting its fundamental ideas from the French Enlightenment, including the concept of the Kingdom of Reason, manifested in the system of rationally organized planning, accounting, and control. However, in practice, the development of this system, taken to its extreme forms, gave rise to a number of utopian projects that became embodiments of irrational thinking. Thus, the original idea to build the Kingdom of Reason underwent a transformation into its opposite. Nevertheless, the authors of the article believe that the Soviet model of a rationally organized social structure can be considered, if not fully realized, then overall a fairly successful project of building the Kingdom of Reason in a socialist state and methodologically correct sociopedagogical system for shaping a new person.

Abstract

The inherent contradictions of the modern world order prompt researchers to seek interpretations for some of their manifestations beyond traditional discourses. The article proposes to examine the concept of international integration through the lens of the conformity discourse, since it is possible to describe such a complex process of today’s integration of sovereign states only within the interdisciplinary approach. The theory of axiological ontologism plays a crucial role in unfolding the conformity discourse within the realm of the sociology of international relations. Guided by this theory, researchers have the opportunity to transpose the concept of conformity from social psychology into the subject area of the sociology of international relations. This transposition leads to a shift in the semantics of the concept: conformity might be interpreted as the inclination of a nation state to reshape its values and change a behavioral strategy on the world stage under the pressure of the “international community”. However, it is essential to take into account that different theories of international relations make it possible to appeal to various conformity discourses. According to the author, the normative conformity aligns more with neorealism, since this theory considers actors of world politics to be engaged in integration processes based on the political environment, without being prone to sacrificing their interests for the sake of symbolic “unity”. The discourse of informational conformity is advisable to be developed from the standpoint of neoliberalism, which regards actors of world politics as assimilating values of the “international community” and accepting them through repetitive integrational practices.

Abstract

The aim of the work was to study the effect of electrolysis on the process of anaerobic digestion in the example of poultry manure with an inoculum of activated sludge from a municipal wastewater treatment plant. The set aim was achieved by solving the following tasks: microcopy of anaerobic activated sludge during the digestion of poultry manure under the influence of electrolysis treatment; studying the dynamics of biogas yield and its component composition under electrolysis treatment; studying the change in pH values and redox potential (ORP) in experiments with a combination of a bioreactor with electrolysis treatment and without treatment. Evaluation of the effect of stimulating the metabolic activity of microorganisms during treatment in the bioreactor-electrolyser was the most significant result. In addition, improved biodegradability of complex organic components of poultry manure was substantiated. Thus, methane yield on the 28th day was 640.5 ml from the total volume of 1525 ml of biogas, and under conventional conditions, methane yield was 33.4 ml from 50 ml of total volume. The decrease of H2S content in biogas under the influence of electrolysis was determined. A low ORP value of - 495 mV was achieved in the control experiment (without electrolysis treatment). ORP gradually increased in the bioreactor-electrolyser at all stages of digestion and reached -53 mV on day 28. pH stabilized at a neutral level. The positive effect of combining anaerobic digestion with electrolysis on the intensification of biogas production with a large volume of methane has been experimentally confirmed.

The isotherm of adsorption was quantitatively reproduced on the basis of VOM theory. The detailed mechanism of trietilamin adsorption in ZSМ-5 zeolite from zero filling to saturation was discovered.

13. Structural myocardial catastrophe under the influence of chronic neurogenic pain due to development of B16 melanoma in female mice

Abstract

Topicality. Most of the inhabitants on the planet have directly experienced certain manifestations of pain, and in the case of chronic pain sensations, some significant changes may occur not only in the psycho-emotional sphere of a human individual, but also some functional alterations in the life maintenance systems. There are two global problems of medicine which are associated with oncology and cardiovascular pathology, and, taking into account the prevalence of pain symptoms of various etiologies, a pathological triangle is formed, each side of which affects the overall configuration thereof. There is a need to understand these pathological relationships in order to determine the real possibilities of breaking them and correcting such common complex life situations. Any attempt to create a concept and visually verify the real pathological changes in the heart, when modeling a combination of chronic neurogenic pain and a malignant process, is relevant that is the aim of this research work. We targeted the morphological picture of the heart in female mice with chronic neurogenic pain (CNP) and the growth of B16 melanoma and found a rather tough scenario of unfolded events. Materials and methods. We used female mice of the C57BL/6 line with a normal genotype. Chronic neurogenic pain (CNP) was produced by bilateral ligation of the sciatic nerve. Against that background, all animals were subcutaneously transplanted with melanoma B16/F10. After decapitation, the isolated heart preparations were carried out according to the stages of morphological preparation for staining sections with hematoxylin-eosin, followed by morphological examination of the structure with the Leica DM LS2 microscope furnished with an Olympus optical.C-5050 Zoom video camera and Morfotest software. Photographing was conducted with magnifications x10, x40, x100. Results. A pronounced pro-oncogenic effect of pain stimulation of the neurogenic nature was revealed, which consisted in an earlier manifestation of the tumor growth, large-scale metastasizing even to atypical target organs, and the formation of a pre-terminal state at an earlier time. At the same time, morphological correlates of prolonged damage to the heart at the level of the valves and the ventricular wall were determined, the key elements of which were ischemia, total longitudinal splitting of muscle fiber bundles, blood filling of large vessels, hemorrhages, deep cell dystrophy of cardiomyocytes, myolysis, macrofocal necrosis (myomalacia), an accumulation of necrotic masses, fibrosis and eosinophilic infiltration. Visualization of the nuclei of cardiomyocytes indirectly indicated the switch of the death program to the non-apoptotic pathway, i.e. necrosis as a result from the “tumor-caused” depletion of the energy reserves of cardiomyocytes. Conclusion. The simulated hypertrophied manifestations of myocardial catastrophe in the experiment expand the concept of a prolonged infarction and provide a basis for predicting and preventing a negative course of events in difficult patients with persistent pain syndromes and comorbid pathology against the background of the development of a malignant process.

Abstract

The paper considers implementation of the technology-enhanced learning to ensure education quality in tertiary institutions of Kazakhstan. Globalization processes, internationalization of higher education, modern tendencies and social demand require essential reforms in education quality assurance, implementation of new technologies and stakeholder engagement in designing academic programs, discussion of the learning outcomes and competences of the future professionals being trained in a particular university. All stakeholders, consumers of education services are involved nowadays in the discussion, development and monitoring of the quality assurance policy, academic programs, education process, program assessment and management. The reforms implemented within the framework of the Bologna process ensure the quality of education, lay the basis for the development of the higher education system and promote the idea of a university's fundamental responsibility for quality assurance which presupposes its commitment to continuously maintain and upgrade the required quality standards. Thus, the university system of internal quality assurance (IQA) can be considered as a set of didactic, technological, technical, methodological and informational support aimed at maintaining the quality of higher education (both as a result and as a process) at a level not lower than the established norms, requirements and standards. The factors affecting the operational reliability of primary measuring transducers (PMT) developed on the basis of ferromagnetic current transducers with adjustable range (FMCT RD) are highlighted. An assessment and analysis of the system of basic quantitative indicators of reliability for each of the proposed three current converters, which differ in the principles of operation and the number of assembly units, is made. A maintenance and repair strategy is indicated, combined with the use of methods and tools of a modern diagnostic system that ensures the reliability of these converters, using a combination of three groups of stages: during design, during their operation and repair.

Abstract

The structure and activity of novel combined ruthenium-containing catalysts based on hypercrosslinked polystyrene modified with Fe3O4 and SiO2 were studied. The modification of the polymeric support surface aimed at imparting new properties to the catalysts is a prospective approach for the development of highly efficient catalytic systems involved in various processes. The synthesized samples are characterized by a high specific surface area and a high catalytic activity in the liquid-phase Fischer—Tropsch synthesis providing a yield of liquid hydrocarbons C6-C12 up to 82%.

During the exposure for 14 days at a temperature of 67 °С swelling ratio in water is 200 % and 47 % in 10 % aqueous solution of sodium chloride.

36. Possible Periodic Spot Activity of the New W UMa-type Variable GSC 3599-2569

Abstract

We present the results of long-term photometry (2009-2021) of the new W UMa-type star GSC 3599-2569 discovered in 2013 at the Kourovka Observatory. We have found a change in the period of this eclipsing system. Based on more extensive observational data, the previously detected cyclical change in the brightness of the system, not associated with eclipses and caused by spot activity on the surface of the components, was confirmed. The length of this period has been specified. 11 new times of minima of GSC~3599-2569 are presented., Представлены результаты долговременного фотометрического мониторинга новой переменной звезды GSC 3599-2569 типа W UMa, открытой в 2013 году в Коуровской обсерватории. На основе большого объема новых наблюдательных данных было обнаружено изменение периода этой затменной системы. Получено подтверждение обнаруженной ранее цикличности изменения блеска звезды, не связанной с явлениями затмений и вызванной пятенной активностью на поверхностях компонентов. Найдено уточненное значение периода этих изменений Получено 11 новых значений моментов минимумов GSC 3599-2569.

Abstract

The study of baryon excitation spectra provides insight into the inner structure of baryons. So far, most of the world-wide efforts have been directed towards $N^*$ and $\Delta$ spectroscopy. Nevertheless, the study of the double and triple strange baryon spectrum provides independent information to the $N^*$ and $\Delta$ spectra. The future antiproton experiment PANDA will provide direct access to final states containing a $\bar{\Xi}\Xi$ pair, for which production cross sections up to $\mu$b are expected in $\bar{p}p$ reactions. With a luminosity of $L=10^{31}\,cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ in the first phase of the experiment, the expected cross sections correspond to a production rate of $\sim 10^6$ events$/$day. With a nearly $4\pi$ detector acceptance, PANDA will thus be a hyperon factory. In this study, reactions of the type $\bar{p}p\rightarrow \bar{\Xi}^+ \Xi^{*-}$ as well as $\bar{p}p\rightarrow \bar{\Xi}^{*+} \Xi^{-}$ with various decay modes are investigated. For the exclusive reconstruction of the signal events a full decay tree fit is used, resulting in reconstruction efficiencies between $3\,\%$ and $5\,\%$. Abstract

A hydrothermal method is reported for synthesizing high-quality, ultralong, large-scale, single-crystalline Sb(sub 2)S(sub 3) by directly reacting SbCl(sub 3) and Na(sub 2)S(sub 2)O(sub 3) solutions. It is suggested that Sb(sub 2)S(sub 3) nanoribbons can be very promising for applications in solar energy and photoelectronic applications.
