This study investigated teachers' views of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The sample consisted of 30 teachers recruited from different cities of Turkey using criteria sampling. Phenomenology was the research method of choice. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview form and analyzed using content analysis. Participants use MOOCs because they are free of charge and have good content and high quality. MOOCs help them learn science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, gain professional knowledge, and develop skills, and positive attitudes and values. Most participants are interested in integrating MOOCs in their classes; however, they face various problems during MOOCs, such as loss of motivation and Internet connection issues. It is recommended that MOOCs be designed in such a way that they increase participants' motivation and allow for feedback.

Günümüzde artık artan önemi ve hayatımızın her alanına girmesi ile sürekli gündemimizde olan teknoloji, yeni teknoloji kullanımı ve teknolojilere aşina olma mecburiyeti çalışanlar açısından bir stres etkeni oluşturmaktadır. Özellikle yüksek ve hızla değişen teknoloji kullanan havacılık sektöründe teknolojik stres etkeni kendini daha fazla göstermektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı ise havacılık sektörü çalışanlarının teknostres seviyelerinin onların karar verme stillerine olan etkisini belirlemek ve bu etkide işletmeler ve çalışanlar için büyük önem arz eden duygusal zeka ve iş güvencesizliği algısının düzenleyici etkilerini araştırmaktır. Bu doğrultuda araştırma evreni Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren havacılık işletmelerindeki teknik personeller olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında 402 anket geçerli sayılmış ve veri analizine dahil edilmiştir. İlgili hipotezlere ve araştırma sorularına ilişkin gerekli testler ve analizler SPSS 25. programı kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan regresyon analizleri neticesinde teknolojik stresin rasyonel, sezgisel, kaçıngan ve ani karar verme ile istatistiki olarak anlamlı ilişkide olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Her bir karar verme stili ile ayrı ayrı duygusal zeka ve iş güvencesizliği algısının moderatör etkilerine bakmak için hiyerarşik regresyon analizleri yapılmış ve duygusal zeka ve iş güvencesizliği algısının ve alt boyutlarının teknostres ile karar verme stilleri ilişkisinde anlamlı moderatör rolleri olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Son olarak teknostresin boyutlarının beş karar verme stili üzerindeki etkilerini görmek için çoklu regresyon analizleri yapılmış ve tekno istila boyutu hariç diğer tüm teknostres boyutlarının en az bir karar verme stili ile istatistiki olarak anlamlı ilişkide olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Especially in the aviation sector, which uses high and rapidly changing technology, the technological stress factor manifests itself more. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of technostress levels of aviation sector employees on their decision-making styles and to investigate the regulatory effects of emotional intelligence and job insecurity perception, which are of great importance for businesses and employees. In line with this research universe it was identified as technical personnel in aviation companies operating in Turkey. Within the scope of the research, 402 questionnaires were deemed valid and included in the data analysis. Necessary tests and analyzes regarding the relevant hypotheses and research questions were carried out using the SPSS 25 program. As a result of the regression analysis, it was determined that technological stress is in a statistically significant relationship with rational, intuitive, avoidant and sudden decision making. Hierarchical regression analyzes were conducted to look at the moderator effects of emotional intelligence and job insecurity perception separately with each decision-making style, and it was determined that emotional intelligence and job insecurity perception and its sub-dimensions have significant moderator roles in the relationship between technostress and decision-making styles. Finally, multiple regression analyzes were conducted to see the effects of technostress dimensions on five decision-making styles, and it was revealed that all other technostress dimensions were statistically significantly associated with at least one decision-making style, except for the techno-invasion dimension. In the study, suggestions were made for changes in employee decision-making behavior styles as the effects of technostress, and the effects of techno-stress levels of employees on decision-making styles for businesses and organizations and their relationship with perceptions of emotional intelligence and job insecurity were also tried to be explained with aviation industry dynamics and theoretical literature.

The aim of this study is to adapt the Teacher Efficacy and Attitudes Toward STEM Scale into Turkish. The Turkish version was adapted to 570 science teachers drawn from varied experiences and science disciplines. Firstly, the Turkish STEM scale was validated through translation and back-translation procedures. Secondly, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to examine its construct validity. The results confirmed that the Turkish STEM scale possessed the same seven-factor structure in its original version and showed good model fit indexes. The Cronbach alpha co-efficients were ranged from 0.88 to 0.96. To sum up, this study showed that the Turkish version of the STEM scale had a good validity and reliability for measuring science teachers' efficacy and attitudes towards STEM. © 2018 Journal of Turkish Science Education.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının STEM eğitiminde biyomimikri uygulamalarına ilişkin görüşlerini tespit etmektir. Çalışma 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz döneminde bir devlet üniversitesinin eğitim fakültesi fen bilgisi öğretmenliği 3. sınıfta öğrenim görmekte 17 öğretmen adayı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması desenlerinden bütüncül tek durum deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen nitel veri aracı olarak “STEM Eğitiminde Biyomimikri Görüşme Formu” kullanılmıştır. Nitel veriler içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Veri analizleri sonucunda, STEM eğitiminde biyomimikri uygulamalarına yönelik öğretmen adaylarının olumlu görüşe sahip oldukları, bu uygulamaları derslerinde kullanmayı düşündükleri tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, bu uygulamaların öğretmen adaylarının bilişsel ve psiko-motor birçok özelliğini geliştirdiği de görülmektedir. Öğretmen adaylarının doğa ve teknolojiye karşı bakış açılarında değişiklerde meydana gelmiştir. Ancak öğretmen adayları mühendislik dizayn süreçleri ve bilimsel süreç becerilerini de karıştırdığı da anlaşılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, STEM eğitiminde biyomimikri uygulamaları ilköğretim, ortaokul, lise ve üniversite düzeylerinde uygulanarak etkilerine bakılabilir. The purpose of this study was to determine the opinions of the pre-service science teachers about the biomimicry practices in STEM education. The study was carried out with 17 pre-service teachers studying in the third year of science teaching department in faculty of education at a state university during the fall term of 2017 – 2018 academic year. The holistic single case design, one of the case study designs among the qualitative research methods, was used for this study. In the study, “Biomimicry in STEM Education Interview Form” generated by the researcher was implemented as a qualitative data instrument. The qualitative data were analysed by using the content analysis method. As a result of the data analysis, it is concluded that the preservice teachers have positive opinions on biomimicry practices in STEM education and that they think about applying these practices in their own courses. In addition, it can be observed that these practices improve the cognitive and psycho-motor skills of the pre-service teachers. There have been changes in the perspectives of the pre-service teachers on nature and technology. However, it is also seen that the pre-service teachers confuse the engineering design processes and the scientific process skills. Within this context, their effects of the biomimicry practices in STEM education can be examined by applying them in the levels of primary, secondary, high school, and university.

anemon In this study, it was purposed to determinewhether the opinions of the preservice pre-school teachers on the nature ofscience differentiate according to their grade of education in which theystudy. In the direction of this purpose, the sample of the study composed of164 pre-school preservice teachers studying in the department of pre-schooleducation of a university located in Eastern Anatolia Region. The study wasdesigned in survey model from the descriptive research methods and was cross-sectionallycarried out. Therefore, it was studied with the preservice teachers at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. 128 of the preserviceteachers are female, and the rest 36 is male. The most general result acquiredform the research is that there is no significant change in the opinions ofpreservice teachers on the nature of science as the grade of educationprogresses. Considering that the pre-school period is a critical andfundamental period for the development of children, it has been recommended toadd course/courses related to the nature of science and teaching science intothe undergraduate program of pre-school education. Bu amaç doğrultusundaaraştırmanın örneklemini Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’ndeki bir üniversitenin okulöncesi eğitimi anabilim dalında öğrenim gören 164 okul öncesi öğretmen adayıoluşturmaktadır. Çalışma betimsel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modelindetasarlanmış olup, enlemsel olarak yürütülmüştür. Bu sebeple 1, 2, 3 ve 4. sınıföğretmen adayıyla çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen en genel sonuç; sınıf seviyesi ilerledikçe öğretmenadaylarının bilimin doğasına yönelik görüşlerinde anlamlı değişiklikler meydanagelmediği şeklindedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Fen Bilimleri öğretim programına entegre edilmiş STEM uygulamalarının kız öğrencilerin STEM’e yönelik tutumları ile mühendis ve mühendisliğe yönelik görüşlerine etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Muş ilinde yer alan bir İmam Hatip Kız Ortaokulu’nda öğrenim gören 87 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel ve nicel araştırma yöntemlerin birlikte yer aldığı karma yöntem kullanılmıştır. Nicel boyutta ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada nicel veri toplama aracı olarak “STEM Tutum Ölçeği (STÖ)”, nitel veri toplama aracı olarak “Mühendislik Bilgi Formu (MBF)” kullanılmıştır. Veri analizleri sonucunda STEM uygulamalarının kız öğrencilerin STEM’e yönelik tutumlarını geliştirmede etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca uygulamalar öncesi mühendisliğin erkeklere yönelik bir meslek olduğu görüşüne sahip olan öğrencilerin bazılarının, uygulamalar sonrası kadınların da mühendis olabileceği yönünde görüşe sahip olmaya başladıkları tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte STEM uygulamalarının kızların mühendislik-matematik-fen arasında daha fazla ilişki kurmalarına yardımcı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, STEM uygulamalarına öğretim programlarına daha fazla yer verilmesi ve kız öğrencilerle daha fazla STEM çalışmalarının yapılması önerilmiştir. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of STEM practices integrated with the science curriculum on female students’ attitudes towards STEM and their opinions on engineer and engineering. The study group is composed of 87 students who are studying at an Imam Hatip Girls Highschool that is located in Muş city. A mixed method including qualitative and quantitative research methods was used in the study. Quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used in the quantitative dimension. “STEM Attitude Scale (SAS)" was used as the quantitative data collection tool and "Engineering Information Form (EIF)" was used as the qualitative data collection tool. Data analysis has shown that STEM practice is effective in improving girl students’ attitudes towards STEM. It was also found that some of the students who had an opinion that engineering was a profession for men before the practices had started to have an opinion that after the practices, women might also be engineers. In addition, it was determined that STEM practices helped girl students to establish more connections between engineering, mathematics and science. In the light of these results, it is suggested that more importance should be given in STEM practices in curriculums and more STEM studies should be applied on girl students.

anemon The aim of this study is to examine the solving skills for themathematical modelling activities of the pre-service science teachers in termsof modelling process. Case study among the qualitative research methods hasbeen applied for this purpose. The study has been carried out with 20pre-service science teachers, and the purposive sampling has been implementedin determining the participants. “To jump or not to jump” and “Balancednutrition of dairy cattle” activities developed by Erbaş et al. (2016) havebeen used as the data collection instrument. The obtained data have beenanalyzed through the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the analysis, ithas been determined that the pre-service teachers have had difficulty in allthe steps of mathematical modelling. It is necessary to relate mathematics toother disciplines and to cooperate with the teachers in other disciplines sothat mathematical modelling is applied at the desired level. Therefore, mathematical modelling activities can be included not only in mathematicscourses but also in other courses related to mathematics, and theinterdisciplinary studies can be conducted by starting from the primary school. Bu çalışmada mevsimler konusunun fiziksel modeller ve sanal gerçeklik programlarıyla öğretilmesinin öğretmen adaylarının paylaşılan modellerine etkisini araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda 3 farklı fiziksel model geliştirilmiş olup, 3 farklı sanal gerçeklik programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 100 Fen Bilimleri öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri açık uçlu soru formu kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Veriler uygulamalar öncesi, uygulamalar sonrası ve uygulamalardan uzun süre sonra (kalıcılık) olmak üzere üç kere alınmış olup içerik analizi tekniği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analizler soru-soru analiz ve tüm sorulara verilen cevapları birlikte değerlendiren bütüncül analiz şeklinde olmak üzere iki aşamada yapılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda mevsimler konusunun öğretiminde her iki yönteminde etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Fakat gerçekleşen öğrenmelerin kalıcılığını sağlamada fiziksel modellerle yapılan öğretimin daha başarılı olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca bütüncül analizler sonrası fiziksel modellerle yapılan öğretimin öğrencileri bilimsel modele yönlendirirken, sanal gerçeklik programlarıyla yapılan öğretimin ise sentez modele yönlendirdiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlardan yola çıkarak astronomi öğretiminde fiziksel modellerin kullanımının ve üretiminin yaygınlaştırılması önerilmiştir. Son olarak mevsimler konusunun öğretiminde dikkat edilmesi gereken durumlar belirtilmiştir The objective of this study is to examine the effects of teaching the subject of seasons through physical models and virtual reality programs on the expressed models of pre-service teachers. For this purpose, 3 different physical models were developed and 3 different virtual reality programs were used. The study group consists of 100 pre-service science teachers. In this study, case study method was used as qualitative research methods. The data were obtained by using open-ended question form. The data were collected three times as pre-instruction, post-instruction and long time after instruction (permanence) and the content was analyzed by using content analysis technique. The analyses were conducted in two stages as question by question analysis and integrated analysis which assesses the answers given to all of the questions together. At the end of the analyses, both methods were found to be useful in the teaching of seasons. However, teaching by using physical models was found to be more successful in providing the permanence of learning. In addition, after integrated analyses, it was concluded that teaching with physical models directed students to scientific model, while teaching with virtual reality programs directed students to synthesis model. Based on these results, suggestions were made to extend the use and production of physical models in astronomy teaching. Araştırma, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz dönemi boyunca bir üniversitenin eğitim fakültesi, STEM Eğitim laboratuvarında verilen Fen ve Teknoloji dersi kapsamında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmaya eğitim fakültesi fen bilgisi öğretmenliği anabilim dalında öğrenim gören 24 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Araştırma nicel bir çalışma olup, araştırma deneysel desenlerden tek gruplu ön test-son test modeline göre gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde bağımlı ve bağımsız gruplar için t-testi, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular ışığında, STEM uygulamalarının öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğası inançları ve yapılandırmacı yaklaşım üzerine olumlu etkisi olduğu istatistiki olarak bulunmuştur. Ancak bilimsel araştırmaya yönelik tutumları üzerine anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Kısacası, STEM uygulamalarının öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğası inançları ile yapılandırmacı yaklaşım üzerine olumlu etkisinin olduğu söylenebilir. The research has been conducted during the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year within the scope of the Science and Technology course which have been given at the STEM Training Laboratory of faculty of education in a university. Twenty four pre-service teachers who have attended to department of science education of the faculty of education have taken part in this study. The study is a quantitative study and the research has been conducted according to a single group pretestposttest model from experimental design. For the analysis of the data, t-test, arithmetic mean, standard deviation have been used for dependent and independent groups. The findings which have been obtained in the light of the research, it has been statistically found that the STEM practices have a positive effect on the pre-service teachers' beliefs on nature of science and the constructivist approach. However, it has been found that there is no significant difference on attitudes towards scientific research. In short, it can be said that STEM practices have a positive effect on the pre-service teachers’ beliefs on nature of science and constructivist approach. Thereon, suggestions about STEM education have been made for pre-service teachers, teachers and academicians
