Depending on the PV power, load power, and battery status, the system may operate in different modes. The control loop may have to switch between operating modes. In practice, it is difficult to implement control loop switching because the transition and dynamic process are difficult to control. As a result, this paper presents a generalized mode control method that avoids loop switching across modes. First, system structure and topology are introduced. The operating conditions for both grid-connected and off-grid modes are then divided into six sub-cases. Furthermore, the control architecture, control loop, and reference transition for various scenarios are described. In this study, analysis of the chemical constituents and bioactivities of the unpolar fractions [petroleum ether (PE) and chloroform (C)] of fruits and leaves of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. were carried out, as well as the bioactivities of the main compounds nootkatone and valencene. From PE and C fractions of the fruits, and PE fraction of the leaves, 95.80%, 59.30%, and 82.11% of the chemical constituents respectively were identified by GC-MS. Among these identified compounds, nootkatone was the main compound in all of three fractions, while valencene was the second main compound in the PE fractions of the fruits and leaves. The bioactivities results showed that all of the fractions and the major compound nootkatone showed tyrosinase inhibitory, as well as inhibitory effect on NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. While valencene only presented inhibitory activity on NO production in RAW264.7 cells. The critical genes involved in nootkatone biosynthesis in A. oxyphylla were identified from the public transcriptome datasets, and protein sequences were preliminarily analyzed. Our studies develop the usage of the unpolar fractions of A. oxyphylla, especially its leaves as the waste during its production, and meanwhile provide the gene resources for nootkatone biosynthesis. In order to achieve efficient utilization of solar energy resources, this study combines the trans-critical organic Rankine cycle (ORC) power cycle (TORC) with the trans-critical CO2 refrigeration cycle (TCO2). Additionally, a comprehensive three-level index decision evaluation system is developed based on system safety and environmental protection, thermodynamics, and techno-economic performance. The evaluation focuses on typical medium- and high-temperature solar energy applications and considers six organic working gases. The evaluation results demonstrate that the R600 + CO2 solution outperformed the others. This solution achieved a maximum net output power (Pnet) of 1531.31 kW and 2306.43 kW, a maximum coefficient of performance (COP) of 3.16, a predicted payback period of 2.651 years and 2.033 years, and a benefit–investment ratio of 4.533 and 5.773. The use of electric vehicles (EVs) for household uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), particularly in rural areas, can greatly improve household power reliability. However, because EVs are mobile, the evaluation of backup capacity for EV-UPS systems is completely different when compared to traditional UPSs. As a result, the focus of this paper is on the evaluation and improvement of backup capacity for EV-UPS systems. The architectures for EV-UPS systems are presented first. The methodology for calculating backup capacity for EV-UPS systems is then presented, followed by four detailed cases based on different grid failure times. Furthermore, the impact of system operating parameters on backup capacity, such as different load power, EV mobility pattern parameters, and grid outage durations, is investigated. The results of backup capacity in cases of different operating parameters are detailed using an EV mobility model. An improved strategy for increasing backup capacity is proposed, in which more backup energy can be released during a power outage. Meanwhile, the next trip requirement is unaffected. The backup capacity with the improved strategy is then calculated and compared to the results with the traditional strategy. Finally, a 5 kW EV-UPS experimental platform is constructed, and the experimental results are presented to validate the proposed method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a new topology of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) by using a Z-source inverter, where a symmetrical LC network is employed to couple the main power circuit of an inverter to a battery bank. With this new topology, the proposed UPS can maintain the desired ac output voltage at the significant voltage drop of the battery bank with high efficiency, low harmonics, fast response, and good steady-state performance in comparison with traditional UPSs. The simulation and experimental results of a 3-kW UPS with the new topology confirm its validity. Index Terms--Dual loops, shoot-through, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Z-source inverter.

Introduction: Recently, increasing evidence has shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical roles in tumor progression and development. However, the expression pattern and biological function of lncRNA HULC (highly upregulated in liver cancer) in prostate cancer (PCa) remain largely unclear.Material and Methods: The expression of lncRNA HULC in 53 paired PCa tissues and cell lines was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The χ2 test was used to explore the association of lncRNA HULC expression with clinicopathologic features. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to detect the association between HULC expression and overall survival of PCa patients. Furthermore, the function of HULC in cell growth and metastasis was detected in PCa cells.Results: Our data showed that HULC expression was upregulated in PCa tissues and cell lines compared to adjacent non-tumor tissues and the normal prostate cell line RWPE-1 (p < 0.05). High HULC expression was positively associated with advanced clinicopathologic features and poor overall survival (OS) for PCa patients (p < 0.05). HULC inhibition suppressed PCa cell growth and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo (p < 0.05). Furthermore, HULC knockdown reduced N-cadherin and vimentin expression and increased E-cadherin expression in PCa cells (p < 0.05).Conclusions: Our data suggested that lncRNA HULC might play oncogenic roles in PCa progression, which provided a novel therapeutic strategy for PCa patients. Purpose: Accumulating evidence indicates that micro (mi)RNAs play a critical role in carcinogenesis and cancer progression; however, their role in the tumorigenesis of gastric adenocarcinoma remains unclear so the present study investigated this in gastric cancer (GC) tissues and cell lines.Methods: Human GC specimens (n = 57) and patient-paired non-cancerous specimens were obtained from patients at the First Affiliated Hospital, Henan University of Science and Technology. The AGS and GC9811 gastric cancer cell lines were also used. Expression levels of miR-216b and HDAC8 were examined by quantitative real-time PCR and the expression of HDAC8 was also examined by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry assay. The cell cycle progression was determined by FACS. MiR-216b inhibitor, mimics, and siRNA-HDAC8 transfections were performed to study the loss and gain of function.Results: We reported a significantly decreased expression of miR-216b in GC clinical specimens compared with paired non-cancerous tissues. We also observed a significant down-regulation of miR-216b expression in GC cell lines AGS and GC9811 (p < 0.0001). The introduction of miR-216b suppressed GC cell proliferation and cell cycle progression by targeting HDAC8, an oncogene shown to promote malignant tumor development with a potential miR-216b binding site in its 3' untranslated region. HDAC8 expression was shown to be significantly increased in AGS and GC9811 cell lines (p < 0.0001) and GC tissues compared with controls. Moreover, HDAC8 inhibition suppressed cell cycle progression compared with control groups (22 % ± 1.6 % vs 34 % ± 2.1), indicating that HDAC8 may function as an oncogene in the development of GC. Furthermore, HDAC8 expression was negatively correlated (p < 0.0001), while miR-216b expression was positively correlated with the clinical outcome of GC patients (p < 0.0001).Discussion: Our data suggest that miR-216b functions as a tumor suppressor in human GC by, at least partially, targeting HDAC8.
