Abstract Background It is proposed a new running suture technique called Needle Adjustment Free (NAF) technique, or PAN suture. The efficiency and the safety were evaluated in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Methods This new running suture technique avoids the Needle Adjustment method used in traditional techniques. The development of efficient and low-cost wastewater treatment processes remains an important challenge. A microaerobic up-flow oxidation ditch (UOD) with micro-electrolysis by waterfall aeration was designed for treating real municipal wastewater. The effects of influential factors such as up-flow rate, waterfall height, reflux ratio, number of stages and iron dosing on pollutant removal were fully investigated, and the optimum conditions were obtained. The elimination efficiencies of chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N), total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) reached up to 84.33 ± 2.48%, 99.91 ± 0.09%, 93.63 ± 0.60% and 89.27 ± 1.40%, respectively, while the effluent concentrations of COD, NH4+-N, TN and TP were 20.67 ± 2.85, 0.02 ± 0.02, 1.39 ± 0.09 and 0.27 ± 0.02 mg l−1, respectively. Phosphorous removal was achieved by iron–carbon micro-electrolysis to form an insoluble ferric phosphate precipitate. The microbial community structure indicated that carbon and nitrogen were removed via multiple mechanisms, possibly including nitrification, partial nitrification, denitrification and anammox in the UOD.

A modified rate equation model was presented to theoretically investigate the nonlinear dynamics of solitary two-state quantum dot lasers (TSQDLs) under optical feedback. The simulated results showed that, for a TSQDL biased at a relatively high current, the ground-state (GS) and excited-state (ES) lasing of the TSQDL can be stimulated simultaneously. After introducing optical feedback, both GS lasing and ES lasing can exhibit rich nonlinear dynamic states including steady state (S), period one (P1), period two (P2), multi-period (MP), and chaotic (C) state under different feedback strength and phase offset, respectively, and the dynamic states for the two lasing types are always identical. Furthermore, the influences of the linewidth enhancement factor (LEF) on the nonlinear dynamical state distribution of TSQDLs in the parameter space of feedback strength and phase offset were also analyzed. For a TSQDL with a larger LEF, much more dynamical states can be observed, and the parameter regions for two lasing types operating at chaotic state are widened after introducing optical feedback.

In this paper, a stray current sensor based on an all-side cylindrical spiral fiber is proposed. The configuration of stray current sensor is illustrated first. The Jones matrix of sensor head is derived based on the geometric rotation effect. The output representation of stray current sensor is also obtained. Moreover, the effect of the characteristic parameters of sensor head on the output error is evaluated. On these bases, the genetic algorithm is applied to optimize these characteristic parameters in the range of the temperature-induced linear birefringence from 0° to 1000°. The optimization results include the following: For the vertical side, the length of cylindrical rod and the number of curve spirals are 1024 mm and 35, respectively; for the horizontal side, these two parameters are 876 mm and 28, respectively. The temperature experiments are conducted to test the performance of the stray current sensor with reference to that without cylindrical spiral fiber, and the test results indicate that the measurement error of the proposed stray current sensor is not larger than 0.4%, which can be suited for the stray current measurement in an urban rail transit system.

In this article, we have examined the motility-related effects of weak power frequency magnetic fields (MFs) on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-sensitive motility mechanism, including the F-actin cytoskeleton, growth of invasive protrusions and the levels of signal molecules in human amniotic epithelial (FL) cells. Without extracellular EGF stimulation, the field stimulated a large growth of new protrusions, especially filopodia and lamellipodia, an increased population of vinculin-associated focal adhesions. And, an obvious reduction of stress fiber content in cell centers was found, corresponding to larger cell surface areas and decreased efficiency of actin assembly of FL cells in vitro, which was associated with a decrease in overall F-actin content and special distributions. These effects were also associated with changes in protein content or distribution patterns of the EGFR downstream motility-related signaling molecules. All of these effects are similar to those following epidermal growth factor (EGF) stimulation of the cells and are time dependent. These results suggest that power frequency MF exposure acutely affects the migration/motility-related actin cytoskeleton reorganization that is regulated by the EGFR-cytoskeleton signaling pathway. Therefore, upon the MF exposure, cells are likely altered to be ready to transfer into a state of migration in response to the stimuli.

The 1,2-benzothiazolone ring system is approximately planar [maximum deviation = 0.0142 (s.u.?) Å] and forms a dihedral angle of 79.19 (5)° with the benzene ring. The crystal structure is characterized by antiparallel π–π stacking along the c axis, with centroid–centroid distances as short as 3.866 (1) Å. In the crystal, C—H...O hydrogen bonds connect the molecules across the stacks into ribbons in the a-axis direction.

In the title compound, C17H14O5S, the coumarin ring system is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.034 (2) Å from the mean plane. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the coumarin ring system is 56.11 (6)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by C—H...O hydrogen bonding, which forms a three-dimensional framework.

In the title compound, C9H7NO3S, the benzoisothiazolone ring system is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.013 (2) Å. In the crystal, molecules are linked via O—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [010]. In addition, weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds are present.

The benzoisothiazolone ring system is almost planar with a mean deviation of 0.041 (1) Å. In the crystal, molecules are linked by weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds.

The title compound, C10H9NO3S, was synthesized by the reaction of benzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one with ethyl carbonochloridate in toluol. The benzisothiazolone ring system is approximately planar, with a maximum deviation from the mean plane of 0.020 (1) Å for the N atom.

The title compound, C11H11NO3S, was synthesized by the reaction of benzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one with propyl carbonochloridate in toluene. The benzoisothiazolone ring system is approximately planar with a maximum deviation from the mean plane of 0.0226 (14) Å for the N atom. Weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonding occurs in the crystal structure.
