1. Exogenous melatonin alleviates nicosulfuron toxicity by regulating the growth, photosynthetic capacity, and antioxidative defense of sweet corn seedlings

Abstract: Improper use of nicosulfuron (NSF) may induce harmful effects on plants during weed control. Melatonin (MT) regulates photosynthetic and physiological processes in plants. This study aimed to explore the effects of MT on alleviating NSF toxicity by measuring the growth parameters, photosynthetic capacity, and antioxidative responses in sweet corn seedlings. Compared to NSF alone, exogenous MT increased chlorophyll content, transpiration rate, net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and maximum efficiency of PSⅡ photochemistry, while reduced malondialdehyde, hydrogen peroxide, superoxide anion radical, and proline contents. Moreover, MT also increased the activity of ascorbate peroxidase and the expression levels of ZmAPX1, ZmAPX2, ZmALS1, and ZmCYP81A9. The inhibition of p-chlorophenylalanine inhibited the positive effects of MT on photosynthetic and physiological indexes. The results indicated that pretreatment with MT might effectively mitigate NSF toxicity in sweet corn seedlings.

2. Multi-scale-phases coherent precipitation improve the comprehensive performance of heat-resistant Cu alloys

Abstract: High-temperature destabilization of the strengthening phase and the generation of discontinuous precipitation at grain boundaries are mutual problem in current high-temperature alloys, especially in the novel Cu-based high-temperature alloys. In the present work, multicomponent composition design is utilized to inhibit discontinuous precipitation and improve the stability of the γ′ phase by strong enthalpic interactions between elements, while introducing coherent precipitated phases other than the γ′ phase into the alloy to simultaneously enhance the heat resistance of the alloy. The Cu85.71Ni10.72-xAl3.57Mx (M = Ti, Nb and V) alloys designed are multi-scale-phases coherent precipitation-strengthened copper alloys, as shown by systematic electron diffraction and HRTEM analysis. In-situ analysis of high temperature hardness and electrical resistivity showed that the softening rate of hardness and the rising rate of electrical resistivity decreased significantly after adding M during the heating process. The calculation results by Thermo-calc also confirmed that the addition of M delayed the re-dissolution of the γ′ phase to improve its thermal stability, and introduced additional coherent precipitated phases which remains a strengthening effect after the re-dissolution of the γ′ phase at high temperature. The enhanced stability of γ′ phase originates from the strong enthalpic interaction between elements and is also related to the promotion of precipitation of Al and reduction of vacancies and antisites in γ′ phase by adding M. In summary, multi-scale-phases coherent precipitation strengthening is an effective way to enhance the comprehensive performance of novel Cu-based high-temperature alloys, and also provides a new perspective for the development of heat-resistant alloys with excellent performance.

3. Compositional interpretation of high elasticity Cu–Ni–Sn alloys using cluster-plus-glue-atom model

Abstract: The D022 or L12-γ′ phase strengthened Cu–Ni–Sn alloys possesses a characteristic microstructure, exhibiting the distribution of precipitated phase with smaller size on a spinodal decomposition structure, which leads to that the composition of the precipitated phase and Cu matrix cannot be precisely measured and restriction of the accurate compositional design of the alloys. The present work initials to introduce the cluster-plus-glue-atom model for compositional interpretation of the industrial Cu–Ni–Sn alloys, and then optimizing the cluster formula according to the measured composition of the relevant precipitated phases. Moreover, the solid solution content of Ni or the precipitation content of Sn are calculated based on the optimized cluster formula, and establishing the relationship between the alloy composition and properties. It indicates that the strength mainly relays on the precipitation content of Sn while the conductivity depends on the solid solution content of Ni, which is also suitable for the Cu–Ni–Sn–Zn (Co) alloys or Cu–Ni–Al alloys with similar characteristics. Additionally, the ratio of strength/resistivity increases in the alloys as the increasing Sn content under the premise of close to 3 of Ni/Sn (or (Ni + Co)/Sn) atomic ratio, but the discontinuous precipitation is easily to generate. Therefore, the improved properties of the alloys cannot be attained via the reducing ratio of Ni/Sn (or (Ni + Co)/Sn) atomic ratio solely. Based on the above, this work provides theoretical support and application methods for the compositional design and performance prediction of coherent D022 or L12-γ′ phase strengthened alloys.

Abstract: Using 16 energy points of e+e− annihilation data collected in the vicinity of the J/ψ resonance with the BESIII detector and with a total integrated luminosity of around 100pb−1, we study the relative phase between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes of J/ψ decays. The relative phase between J/ψ electromagnetic decay and the continuum process (e+e− annihilation without the J/ψ resonance) is confirmed to be zero by studying the cross section lineshape of μ+μ− production. The relative phase between J/ψ strong and electromagnetic decays is then measured to be (84.9±3.6)∘ or (−84.7±3.1)∘ for the 2(π+π−)π0 final state by investigating the interference pattern between the J/ψ decay and the continuum process. This is the first measurement of the relative phase between J/ψ strong and electromagnetic decays into a multihadron final state using the lineshape of the production cross section. We also study the production lineshape of the multihadron final state ηπ+π− with η→π+π−π0, which provides additional information about the phase between the J/ψ electromagnetic decay amplitude and the continuum process. Additionally, the branching fraction of J/ψ→2(π+π−)π0 is measured to be (4.73±0.44)% or (4.85±0.45)%, and the branching fraction of J/ψ→ηπ+π− is measured to be (3.78±0.68)×10−4. Both of them are consistent with the world average values. The quoted uncertainties include both statistical and systematic uncertainties, which are mainly caused by the low statistics. 5. The N and P genes facilitate pathogenicity of the rabies virus G gene

Abstract: To explore the effects of different gene combinations on the pathogenicity of the rabies virus (RABV), six chimeric RABV mutants, rRC-HL(G), rRC-HL(NG), rRC-HL(PG), rRC-HL(NP), rRC-HL(NM) and rRC-HL(NPG), were constructed using a reverse genetic technique based on an avirulent parental rRC-HL strain and a virulent parental GX074 isolate. These mutants were intracerebrally inoculated into adult mice. The results indicated that 102 ffu and 106 ffu of rRC-HL(G), rRC-HL(NG), rRC-HL(PG) and rRC-HL(NPG) were 100% lethal. In the case of intramuscular viral infection, none of the mice inoculated with 102 ffu of any of the RABV mutants, including GX074, died; at 106 ffu, rRC-HL(G) was lethal in 2/5 cases, rRC-HL(NG) was lethal in 1/5 cases and rRC-HL(PG) was lethal for 2/5 mice. The rRC-HL(NPG) mutant was fatal for 3/5 mice, as was the parental GX074. Furthermore, the LD50 values of the chimeric RABV mutants were measured, with the results showing that the LD50 values of both rRC-HL(NG) and rRC-HL(PG) were lower than that of rRC-HL(G), but higher than that of rRC-HL(NPG). Thus, the action of N + G, or P + G, or N + P + G gene combinations may be more pronounced than that of the G gene alone. Body weight changes and the clinical symptoms of the tested mice were consistent with pathogenicity. These data indicate that the N and P genes are involved in and facilitate the pathogenicity of the RABV G gene. These experiments provide further evidence that multi-gene cooperation is responsible for the virulence of RABV.

Abstract: We report a study of the e+e−→D+D−π+π− process using e+e− collision data samples with an integrated luminosity of 2.5fb−1 at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to 4.60GeV, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The D1(2420)+ is observed in the D+π+π− mass spectrum. The mass and width of the D1(2420)+ are measured to be (2427.2±1.0stat.±1.2syst.)MeV/c2 and (23.2±2.3stat.±2.3syst.)MeV, respectively. In addition, the Born cross sections of the e+e−→D1(2420)+D−+c.c.→D+D−π+π− and e+e−→ψ(3770)π+π−→D+D−π+π− processes are measured as a function of the center-of-mass energy.

Abstract: Using a data sample of e+e− collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.773GeV, we search for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D0→π0π0π0, π0π0η, π0ηη and ηηη using the double tag method. The absolute branching fractions are measured to be B(D0→π0π0π0)=(2.0±0.4±0.3)×10−4, B(D0→π0π0η)=(3.8±1.1±0.7)×10−4 and B(D0→π0ηη)=(7.3±1.6±1.5)×10−4 with the statistical significances of 4.8σ, 3.8σ and 5.5σ, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. No significant signal of D0→ηηη is found, and the upper limit on its decay branching fraction is set to be B(D0→ηηη)

Abstract: Using a data set of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a center-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform a search for an extra U(1) gauge boson, also denoted as a dark photon. We examine the initial state radiation reactions e+e−→e+e−γISR and e+e−→μ+μ−γISR for this search, where the dark photon would appear as an enhancement in the invariant mass distribution of the leptonic pairs. We observe no obvious enhancement in the mass range between 1.5 and 3.4 GeV/c2 and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the mixing strength of the dark photon and the Standard Model photon. We obtain a competitive limit in the tested mass range.

Abstract: Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at six center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.600 GeV, we observe the processes e+e−→ϕϕω and e+e−→ϕϕϕ. The Born cross sections are measured and the ratio of the cross sections σ(e+e−→ϕϕω)/σ(e+e−→ϕϕϕ) is estimated to be 1.75±0.22±0.19 averaged over six energy points, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The results represent first measurements of these interactions.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the decay Λc+→Σ−π+π+π0, based on data obtained in e+e− annihilations with an integrated luminosity of 567 pb−1 at s=4.6 GeV. The data were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The absolute branching fraction B(Λc+→Σ−π+π+π0) is determined to be (2.11±0.33(stat.)±0.14(syst.))%. In addition, an improved measurement of B(Λ+c→Σ−π+π+) is determined as (1.81±0.17(stat.)±0.09(syst.))%.

Abstract: Based on e+e− annihilation data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at 13 center-of-mass energies from 4.008 to 4.600 GeV, measurements of the Born cross section of e+e−→pp¯π0 are performed. No significant resonant structure is observed in the measured energy dependence of the cross section. The upper limit on the Born cross section of e+e−→Y(4260)→pp¯π0 at the 90% C.L. is determined to be 0.01 pb. The upper limit on the ratio of the branching fractions B(Y(4260)→pp¯π0)B(Y(4260)→π+π−J/ψ) at the 90% C.L. is determined to be 0.02%. Keywords: Hadrons, Cross section measurements, Y(4260)

Abstract: We study the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to the final states Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 and Ξ0Ξ¯0 based on a single baryon tag method using data samples of (1310.6±7.0)×106 J/ψ and (447.9±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decays to Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 are observed for the first time. The measured branching fractions of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to Ξ0Ξ¯0 are in good agreement with, and much more precise than, the previously published results. The angular parameters for these decays are also measured for the first time. The measured angular decay parameter for J/ψ→Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0, α=−0.64±0.03±0.10, is found to be negative, different to the other decay processes in this measurement. In addition, the “12% rule” and isospin symmetry in the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to ΞΞ¯ and Σ(1385)Σ¯(1385) are tested.

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the absolute branching fraction for Λc+→Λμ+νμ. This measurement is based on a sample of e+e− annihilation data produced at a center-of-mass energy s=4.6 GeV, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb−1. The branching fraction is determined to be B(Λc+→Λμ+νμ)=(3.49±0.46(stat)±0.27(syst))%. In addition, we calculate the ratio B(Λc+→Λμ+νμ)/B(Λc+→Λe+νe) to be 0.96±0.16(stat)±0.04(syst).

Abstract: By analyzing 2.93fb−1 of data taken at the ψ(3770) resonance peak with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fractions for the hadronic decays D+→KS0KS0K+, D+→KS0KS0π+, D0→KS0KS0 and D0→KS0KS0KS0. They are determined to be B(D+→KS0KS0K+)=(2.54±0.05stat.±0.12sys.)×10−3, B(D+→KS0KS0π+)=(2.70±0.05stat.±0.12sys.)×10−3, B(D0→KS0KS0)=(1.67±0.11stat.±0.11sys.)×10−4 and B(D0→KS0KS0KS0)=(7.21±0.33stat.±0.44sys.)×10−4, where the second one is measured for the first time and the others are measured with significantly improved precision over the previous measurements.

Abstract: The four decay modes D0→ϕπ0, D0→ϕη, D+→ϕπ+, and D+→ϕK+ are studied by using a data sample taken at the centre-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1. The branching fractions of the first three decay modes are measured to be B(D0→ϕπ0)=(1.168±0.028±0.028)×10−3, B(D0→ϕη)=(1.81±0.46±0.06)×10−4, and B(D+→ϕπ+)=(5.70±0.05±0.13)×10−3, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. In addition, the upper limit of the branching fraction for D+→ϕK+ is given to be 2.1×10−5 at the 90% confidence level. The ratio of B(D0→ϕπ0) to B(D+→ϕπ+) is calculated to be (20.49±0.50±0.45)%, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction based on isospin symmetry between these two decay modes. 16. Cu–Ni–Sn–Si alloys designed by cluster-plus-glue-atom model

Abstract: Segregation in the solidification process and discontinuous precipitation during aging cause the service and processing performance of Cu–Ni–Sn alloys deteriorating severely. In this work, Si is added as a fourth element for the design of Cu80Ni15Sn5−xSix (x = 0, 0.625, 1.25, 1.875, 2.5) series alloys using cluster-plus-glue-atom model to solve these issues from the point of composition design. The results suggest that the introduction of Si leads to the disappearance of the lamellar structure formed in the as-cast alloys while also inhibiting discontinuous precipitation during aging. The solidus–liquidus temperature range is reduced with the addition of Si, and this strategy is most effective when the Si is in the solution state. With increasing Si content, the high-temperature conductive stability of the alloys is improved. Moreover, the hardness and conductivity of the Cu80Ni15Sn5 alloy designed by cluster-plus-glue-atom model are improved compared with those of C72900 (Cu78.96Ni16.65Sn4.39) commercial alloy, and the properties of Cu80Ni15Sn4.375Si0.625 alloy are basically equivalent to those of C72900 alloy. These findings indicate that alloys with excellent synthetic properties can be produced as long as the content and existential state of Si are reasonably controlled. 17. Salt response of photosynthetic electron transport system in wheat cultivars with contrasting tolerance

Abstract: Soil salinity significantly decreases the photosynthetic efficiency and plant growth in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). However, sensitivity of the photosynthetic electron transport system of wheat in relation with salt stress is unclear. Two wheat cultivars with contrasting salt tolerance were exposed to soil salinity, and the physiological responses and performance of photosynthetic electron system were investigated. The depressed photosynthetic carbon assimilation was mainly caused by stomatal closure and lower photosynthetic electron transport efficiency. Under salt stress, the salt-resistant cv. YN19 had higher efficiency in photosynthetic electron transport, hence maintaining higher photosynthetic rate under salt stress, compared with the salt-sensitive cv. JM22. In addition, the parameters derived from fast chlorophyll a fluorescence induction curve, i.e. the quantum yield for electron transport (φEo) and the probability that an electron moves futher than QA (ψEo), can be used as indicators for rapid screening of wheat cultivars tolerant to soil salinity.

Abstract: Using a data set of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the process e+e−→J/ψγ→μ+μ−γ and determine the product of the branching fraction and the electronic width Bμμ⋅Γee=(333.4±2.5stat±4.4sys) eV. Using the earlier-published BESIII result for Bμμ=(5.973±0.007stat±0.037sys)%, we derive the J/ψ electronic width Γee=(5.58±0.05stat±0.08sys) keV.

Abstract: We extract the e+e−→π+π− cross section in the energy range between 600 and 900 MeV, exploiting the method of initial state radiation. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider is used. The cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 0.9%. We extract the pion form factor |Fπ|2 as well as the contribution of the measured cross section to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to (g−2)μ. We find this value to be aμππ,LO(600–900MeV)=(368.2±2.5stat±3.3sys)⋅10−10, which is between the corresponding values using the BaBar or KLOE data.

Abstract: By analyzing a data set of 2.92 fb−1 of e+e− collision data taken at s=3.773 GeV and 106.41×106 ψ(3686) decays taken at s=3.686 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the branching fraction and the partial decay width for ψ(3770)→γχc0 to be B(ψ(3770)→γχc0)=(6.88±0.28±0.67)×10−3 and Γ[ψ(3770)→γχc0]=(187±8±19) keV, respectively. These are the most precise measurements to date.

Abstract: We study Ds+ decays to final states involving the η′ with a 482 pb−1 data sample collected at s=4.009 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We measure the branching fractions B(Ds+→η′X)=(8.8±1.8±0.5)% and B(Ds+→η′ρ+)=(5.8±1.4±0.4)% where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, we estimate an upper limit on the non-resonant branching ratio B(Ds+→η′π+π0)

Abstract: Using the data sets taken at center-of-mass energies above 4 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we search for the reaction e+e−→γISRX(3872)→γISRπ+π−J/ψ via the Initial State Radiation technique. The production of a resonance with quantum numbers JPC=1++ such as the X(3872) via single photon e+e− annihilation is forbidden, but is allowed by a next-to-leading order box diagram. We do not observe a significant signal of X(3872), and therefore give an upper limit for the electronic width times the branching fraction ΓeeX(3872)B(X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ)

Abstract: We report a measurement of the parameter yCP in D0–D¯0 oscillations performed by taking advantage of quantum coherence between pairs of D0D¯0 mesons produced in e+e− annihilations near threshold. In this work, doubly-tagged D0D¯0 events, where one D decays to a CP eigenstate and the other D decays in a semileptonic mode, are reconstructed using a data sample of 2.92 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of s=3.773 GeV. We obtain yCP=(−2.0±1.3±0.7)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result is compatible with the current world average. 24. Effect of hydrogen peroxide on seedling growth and antioxidants in two wheat cultivars

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate seed germination, seedling growth, and antioxidative responses in two wheat cultivars, Ningchun and Xihan, exposed to different H2O2 concentrations. Ningchun exhibited higher germination rate but lower root and shoot growth than Xihan when exposed to H2O2 treatment. Assays using fluorescent dye H2DCFDA and propidium iodide showed a significantly enhanced H2O2 content and a cell elongation inhibition in H2O2-treated roots. The malondialdehyde content was elevated with increasing exogenous H2O2 concentration. Moreover, treatments of seedlings with H2O2 scavenger, catalase (CAT), and antioxidant, butylated hydroxytoluene, partly abolished H2O2-induced negative effect on root growth. In both untreated and H2O2-treated leaves, SOD activity in Ningchun was higher than that in Xihan, but POD and APX activities in Ningchun were lower than those in Xihan, leading to elevated H2O2 level in Ningchun leaves but decreased H2O2 content in Xihan ones under H2O2 treatment.

Abstract: A microbiological survey was performed on ten brined jellyfish products, sampled in Italy from Chinese food markets. In general, the microbiological conditions were good and respected the standards contemplated in the regulations CE 2073/2005 e 1441/2007. The presence of inhibiting substances and the absence of aerobic mesophilic bacteria in two samples suggest a treatment to preserve the product.

Abstract: The heat resistance of copper alloys is desirable to improve while it services at high temperature as electrically and thermally conductive components. In present paper, the strengthening pattern of nickel-based superalloys is expected to be applied in copper alloys. Here the Cu50Ni37.5M12.5 (M = Al, Cr, Mo) alloys were prepared by vacuum arc melting and heat-treated in the corresponding conditions to obtain three different kinds of typical microstructure. The room temperature (RT) properties (hardness and resistivity) and high temperature properties (melting point, softening temperature and variable temperature resistivity) of the three alloys are contrasted and analyzed in detail. The Cu50Ni37.5Al12.5 alloy strengthened through the γ′ phase coherent precipitation shows the best conductivity and highest hardness (5.47 %IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) and 310.1 HV). The splitting of the γ′ phase is contributing to hardening at high aging temperature. The resistivity-temperature behavior of the three alloys shows that the resistivity with rising temperature consists of the ideal lattice resistivity and the resistivity increment due to the defects. The Cu50Ni37.5Al12.5 alloy has the smallest room temperature resistivity and its resistivity maintains the lowest during the whole heating process (RT-1077K). Therefore, the coherent precipitated γ′ phase is expected to improve the heat resistance of the copper alloys while maintaining its electrical conductivity.

Abstract: Cu Ni Cr alloys have a typical spinodal decomposition structure. However, a systematic investigation of the correlation between the mismatch of the two decomposition phases, Cu-rich (γ1) and Ni-rich (γ2), and the γ2 morphology is lacking. In this study, the microstructure evolution of Cux[Ni3Cr1] (x = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 12) alloys was investigated over a wide composition range. The results show that mismatch significantly affects the shape of the γ2 precipitates. The γ2 phase is cubic when the mismatch degree (η) is in the range 0.62%–0.75% and lath-shaped when η is in the range 1.08%–1.35%. With increasing Cu content, the proportion of the lath-shaped γ2 phase decreases and that of the cubic γ2 phase continuously increases. Cubic precipitates enhance the alloy strength, while lath-shaped precipitates show better corrosion resistance owing to their high packing density. Therefore, an appropriate x can be chosen according to the actual service conditions. In addition, the Cr state affects the microstructure and performance of the alloys. Cr in the solid solution state promotes spinodal decomposition, while a large amount of Cr-rich precipitates at the grain boundaries has a negative effect on the mechanical performance.

Abstract: Enthalpic interaction between the elements determines the stability of the local structures in the alloy system. Multicomponent synergistic effect is expected to improve the thermal stability and the relevant properties by regulating the enthalpic interaction. In this work, the composition of Cu-Ni-Sn alloys is explained by introducing the cluster-plus-glue-atom mode, and the strong and weak enthalpic interaction elements Si and Zn, respectively, are chosen for multi-componentization of Cu-Ni-Sn alloys. The results demonstrate that the synergistic effect of Zn and Si improves the stability of both the Cu matrix and D022 or L12-γ′ phase, inhibits the discontinuous precipitation effectively and gains a notable higher strength-over-resistivity ratio (HR / ρR) than the Cu-15Ni-8Sn (wt. %) (C72900) alloy. After adding Si and Zn, the reinforcing enthalpic interaction between the elements is the crucial factor for the stability enhancement of the alloys, and it is embodied by two aspects: (a) the reducing elastic strain energy in the solution treated alloys; (b) the more homogeneous surface potential and the higher work function in the age treated alloys. Additionally, Compared with the Cu80Ni15Sn5 alloy that based on the ideal cluster formula, the Cu79.68Ni15.63Sn4.69 alloy, based on the modified cluster formula: {[Cu-CuxNi12-x]Cu3}a{[Sn-NiyCu12-y]Sn3}16-a, possesses a preferable thermal stability whatever solution treated or age treated state, and exhibits a decreasing amount of discontinuous precipitation although has a slightly lower HR / ρR, which is beneficial to the improvement of the workability of the alloys. The modified cluster formula is more suitable for the compositional design of Cu-Ni-Sn alloys. The work provides an effective theoretical and experimental basis for the composition design of high stability Cu-Ni-Sn alloys.

Abstract: Using a data sample of 448.1 × 10 6 ψ ( 3686 ) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report the first observation of the electromagnetic Dalitz decay ψ ( 3686 ) → η ′ e + e − , with significances of 7.0σ and 6.3σ when reconstructing the η ′ meson via its decay modes η ′ → γ π + π − and η ′ → π + π − η ( η → γ γ ), respectively. The weighted average branching fraction is determined to be B ( ψ ( 3686 ) → η ′ e + e − ) = ( 1.90 ± 0.25 ± 0.11 ) × 10 − 6 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract: Coherent cuboidal precipitation of γ′ (Ni3Al) phases can significantly improve the high temperature properties of Cu–Ni–Al alloys, in which, substantial γ′ phases and a suitable lattice misfit degree between γ (Cu matrix) and γ′ phase (δγ-γ′) is necessary. However, the re-dissolution and grain boundary discontinuous precipitation would induce the degradation of heating resistance in the alloys with higher Cu content. Herein introducing Si with strong elemental interaction to resolve this issue. In this research, series of Cu85.71Ni10.72-x Al3.57Six (x = 0, 0.45, 0.89, 1.34 and 1.79) alloys are designed and prepared, and the effect of Si addition on microstructure, properties at room or high temperature are investigated. The results demonstrate that Si with completely solution state has an effect on the promoting of γ′ precipitation and suppression of the discontinuous precipitation. Meanwhile, Si addition regulates the δγ-γ′, transforming the shape of γ′ phases from spherical to cuboidal and delaying the re-dissolution of γ′ phase and improving the stability of matrix. First-principles calculations and work function results indicate that Gibbs free energy ΔG of γ′ phase decreases as well as exhibiting a more negative cohesive energy Eb for a suitable Si addition, which enables the alloys to be more stable and homogeneous. Si exhibits a good optimization effect for Cu–Ni–Al–Si alloy, which leads to excellent high temperature properties that can be extended to alloys with higher Cu content by Si addition. Therefore, multi-componentization is an efficient way to improve the properties of Cu–Ni–Al alloys, and an appropriate match in elemental interaction is crucial. The research provides theoretical and experimental basis for the development of heat-resistant Cu alloy with good comprehensive properties.

Abstract: Various types of ultrasound transducers have been developed and widely used in biomedical science and industrial testing applications. However, conventional ultrasound transducer is incapable for broad bandwidth ultrasound which provides high spatial resolution imaging. In addition, conventional ultrasound transducers are PZT transducers, which means that these transducers suffer from electromagnetic interference (EMI) in electronically harsh environments. In this study, a Laser induced ultrasonic transducer (LIUT) based on optoacoustic effect is proposed to demonstrate its capability for medical imaging of a gel phantoms. First, the multi-physical field coupling method of electromagnetic-solid-ultrasonic field is deduced, and the ultrasonic field characteristic of LIUT is simulated. And then the LIUT was fabrication by coating the carbon black(CB)-polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based polymer composite on the substrate. The characteristics of sound field are verified by experiment and simulation. The amplitude and -6 dB frequency bandwidth of the generated ultrasound were measured to be 2.5MPa and 8MHz, respectively. Finaly, the presented LIUT was applied for magneto-acousto-electrical tomography (MAET) based on ultrasound excitation.

Abstract: Using the new derivatives of fractional order, alluded to the Atangana-Baleanu (AB) derivative and Caputo-Fabrizio (CF) derivative, three fractional diffusion models are proposed to describe radionuclide anomalous transport in geological repository systems. The analytical solutions of the Atangana-Baleanu fractional diffusion (ABFD) models and Caputo-Fabrizio fractional diffusion (CFFD) model in the context of instantaneous and constant concentration source are presented. The mean square displacements (MSDs) for the ABFD and CFFD models in terms of instantaneous source are investigated. Based on the fitting analysis of experimental data of radionuclide diffusion, parameters related to the ABFD and CFFD models are determined. The good agreement between the theoretical and experimental results indicates that the proposed fractional diffusion models are more effective and flexible to characterize the radionuclide anomalous migration. Furthermore, the comparison of the proposed ABFD and CFFD models is also discussed.

Abstract: Coherent precipitation of cuboidal γ' phase is an efficient strategy to improve high temperature properties in nickel-based alloys. The present work aims to introduce this strengthening mechanism into copper alloys to solve the issue of deficient heat resistance. The results shown that a series of cuboidal γ' coherent precipitation-strengthened Cu100-y(Ni3/4Al1/4)y alloys were obtained in the (Ni+Al) content range of 20 at. % to 50 at. %. These alloys are shown to exhibit excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, high melting point, and a softening temperature of 1273K or more than 1273K. Their hardness and yield strength increased with the rise of temperature, ascribing to splitting of γ′ phase. AFM surface current mode and three-dimensional reconstruction of microstructure was performed to determine that γ phases remain conductive body in Cu100-y(Ni3/4Al1/4)y alloys, and meanwhile temperature-dependent resistivity was characterized and discussed, which showed the improvement of resistivity thermal stability attributing to coherent precipitation of γ' phase. Comparing to other Cu commercial alloys, cuboidal γ' phase coherent precipitation-strengthened alloys possess a great potential under high-temperature loads and service environments. In further researches, continued efforts will be required in the multi-component design of Cu100-y(Ni3/4Al1/4)y alloys to improve the comprehensive performance.

Abstract: Damage and failure of ceramic coatings bonded on alloy substrates was studied by observing crack evolution in the coating systems under in situ three-point bending tests with corresponding load-displacement curves. A damage and catastrophic failure model on the ceramic coatings was proposed based on our experimental results and the Taylor expansion of the controlling variable. The results indicate that the damage increases with increasing stress and obeys the power-law characteristics with the power exponent of 0.5, and the damage is 1 as the stress reaches the critical point corresponding to the failure of the coating systems. The damage rate increases rapidly when the stress is near the failure point and shows a power law singularity of -0.5. The experimental results of thin, thick, nanostructured, and conventional micrometer-scale microstructured coatings are all in agreement with the predictions based on the model. Abstract: In order to solve the segregation and discontinuous precipitation of Cu–Ni–Sn alloys and explore the influence mechanism of solid soluble microelements on the microstructure and properties. Herein, based on the cluster-plus-glue-atom model, Zn or Co, with different solubilities in Cu, was selected as the fourth element in the way of replacing a small portion of Sn for the composition design of Cu–Ni–Sn–Zn (Co) series alloys. The solid solution forms and positions of Zn and Co solutes were revealed according to EPMA composition analysis and variation of the lattice parameter of the Cu matrix in solution treated alloys, and form atomic site occupation point of view, the influence of Zn or Co on solidus-liquidus temperature range were discussed. Furthermore, phase transformation and resistivity thermal stability with temperature rising were investigated and discussed utilizing results of variable temperature resistance. These results show that Zn solutes dissolve in the form of clusters, resulting in a strong solid solution strengthening, existing less effect on conductivity, and increasing comprehensive properties after long-term aging, which indicates that Zn can be a good candidate for the multi-component design of Cu–Ni–Sn alloys. These findings may offer new insights on composition optimization of Cu–Ni–Sn alloy.

Abstract: A destructive earthquake occurred in Northeast Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on May 25th, 1568 AD, causing many casualties, severe damage to property, and significant disruption to livelihoods. This earthquake has been chosen as a plausible basis for calculating a seismic scenario for the modern city of Weinan, and its surrounding urban areas. Previous studies agreed in assigning a magnitude 6 ¾ to the earthquake but yielded differing epicentral locations and isoseismal intensity maps. We combine textual research on historical earthquake reports with field investigations to reduce the uncertainties, and to place constraints on the ground shaking that would be experienced if such an earthquake were to recur. We show that the counties of Jingyang, Gaoling, and Xianning were the worst hit by the earthquake, with the townships of Yongle, Huijun, Pisha, and Fengzheng (present-day Gaozhuang and Zhangbu township), likely being in the mesoseismal area of this earthquake. Reinterpretation of the historical texts, combined with field observations, indicates that the epicenter of the earthquake was at about 34°28′N and 108°59′E, with an epicentral intensity of Ⅸ+ and an estimated magnitude of 7. The isoseismal contours have major axes-oriented WNW-ESE, in contrast to the more NS alignment inferred from the earlier study of the historical documents. The isoseismal of intensity VIII+encloses, and has its major axis parallel to, the active Weinan-Jingyang fault, which we infer to be the fault that slipped in the May 25th, 1568 earthquake.

Abstract: The Weinan-Jingyang fault is one of the southern boundary faults of the Gushi secondary depression of the Weihe Basin, China. Geophysical exploration work and field geological surveys have demonstrated that this fault system has a length of approximately 105 km, and extends at least 5 km into the subsurface, with a northerly dip that shallows with depth. Under the influence of long-term displacement on the fault zone, the strata on the north side of the fault within the fault zone dip to the south, and the subsidence centre of the Gushi depression has migrated continuously southward. The Cenozoic activity of the Weinan-Jingyang fault has resulted in a significant dislocation between Paleozoic and Cenozoic strata on either side of the fault. This fault has been active during the Quaternary, especially the late Quaternary, in some places offsetting strata formed during the Ming Dynasty(1368–1644 CE), suggesting that this fault can reliably be regarded being active during Holocene time. Comprehensive re-examination of historical earthquake records, combined with field studies, confirm that the Weinan-Jingyang fault is likely the fault that slipped during a magnitude ~7 earthquake in northeast Xi'an, China in 1568 CE. That earthquake is here re-named the Shaanxi Gaoling Earthquake.

Abstract: Physics letters / B B 781, 368 - 375 (2018). doi:10.1016/j.physletb.2018.04.017, Using a data sample of $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 $fb^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}= 3.773~GeV$,we search for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^{0}\to\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}$, $\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\eta$, $\pi^{0}\eta\eta$ and $\eta\eta\eta$ using the double tag method. The absolute branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}) = (2.0 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.3)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\eta) = (3.8 \pm 1.1 \pm 0.7)\times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to\pi^{0}\eta\eta) = (7.3 \pm 1.6 \pm 1.5)\times 10^{-4}$ with the statistical significances of $4.8\sigma$, $3.8\sigma$ and $5.5\sigma$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. No significant signal of $D^{0}\to\eta\eta\eta$ is found, and the upper limit on its decay branching fraction is set to be $\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to\eta\eta\eta) < 1.3 \times 10^{-4}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level., Published by North-Holland Publ., Amsterdam
