1. Capacity optimization and flexibility enhancement of photovoltaic- battery-pumped hybrid storage system

Abstract

Pumped hydro storage (PHS) is the most mature storage technology with the largest installed capacity. However, its power regulation rate is slow, and its adjustment flexibility is relatively lacking. Electrochemical storage, which is currently the fastest developing storage equipment, provides capability of flexible power regulation. A photovoltaic-battery-pumped hybrid energy storage system is constructed in this paper. The goal is to improve the flexibility of PHS by utilizling the complementary characteristics of different storage facilities. The power regulation capability of the unit based on the power oscillation interval description of pumped storage is described, and further defines the flexibility of PHS according to the regulation of single unit and the unit-commitmen of multiple units. Considering the flexibility enhancing constraints and the demand to improve the operational lifespan of PHS, a capacity optimization strategy for the battery in hybrid energy storage system is established. A case study is conducted using a PHS in Shandong province as an example. The findings reveal that configuring an electrochemical energy storage system with a rated power equal to 10% of the PHS capacity can improve the flexibility of the storage system by about 40%, and reduce generation start-up times by 14%. However, under the current electricity pricing structure, the peak-valley price gap needs to surplus 0.5 yuan per kW·h for the electrochemical storage facility to become profitable.

Abstract

Underground gas storage plays an important role in the strategic reserve, peak shaving and stable supply of natural gas. Due to the complex geological conditions in China, very limited sites are available for the construction of gas storage. Thus, it is a good choice to build gas storage in the abandoned coal mine with rich resources. For this purpose, it is particularly important to establish an evaluation method for abandoned coal mine type gas storage. Hence, the factors affecting the conversion of abandoned coal mines into gas storage were summarized and analyzed based on the research results of gas storage site selection at home and abroad from the five aspects of hydrogeology, caprock tightness, geologic structure, influencing factors of abandoned coal mine, and other safe and economic factors. Then, a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model based on hierarchical analysis was established and a comprehensive evaluation table of storage sites was prepared to evaluate the sites of abandoned coal mines. Besides, the evaluation model was applied to the site evaluation of a coal mine in Shaanxi. The evaluation results show that the coal mine is at an excellent grade and has the potential to be transformed into gas storage. Generally, the evaluation method has certain guiding implications for China to develop abandoned coal mine type gas storage.

Abstract

Visible Light Communication (VLC) has become an effective underwater communication technology due to its advantages such as fast transmission speed and strong confidentiality. When light propagates underwater, it is prone to scattering, resulting in a decrease in the energy of light propagation with the increase of transmission distance. Therefore, improving the responsiveness of the receiving end is the key technology to achieve underwater VLC. This article first designs a new holographic waveguide focusing system for the front end of the detector, which can effectively improve the signal-to-noise ratio of underwater detectors. Then, we construct a low-cost antimony sulfide thin film detector with weak light detection capability. Based on the built VLC system, the experimental results show that the dark current of the receiver detector is only 10-7 A/cm2, with a 3 dB bandwidth of 220 kHz, a response of 0.2 A/W, and an external quantum efficiency of over 70% in the blue green light band. Therefore, the new antimony sulfide thin film detector combined with a holographic waveguide focusing system can achieve weak light detection of visible light, making it a very effective underwater visible light receiving system.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of Antarctic krill oil on zebrafish model of depression. Methods: The zebrafish (Danio rerio) model of depression was induced by 40 mg/L reserpine, and five groups, i.e., blank control group, model group, fluoxetine group, low-dose krill oil group and high-dose krill oil group were investigated and compared, buy using new tank test (NTT) and light dark box test (LDB). The central nervous system serotonin (5-HT), dopamine (DA), monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) Interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and systemic cortisol (COR) levels of the five groups were analyzed. Results: Reserpine 40 mg/L caused depressive behavior in zebrafish, while the addition of prawn oil reduced the this behavior, by increasing the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters including 5-HT and DA in the brain and decreasing the levels of MAO-A, IL-6 and TNF-α proinflammatory factors and systemic COR levels. Conclusion: Antarctic krill oil can improve the depression of zebrafish by reducing neuroinflammation and regulating neuroendocrine.

In order to promote green development in the Lancang-Mekong region, this research focuses on typical industrial parks in Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. It analyzes the primary conditions of energy system construction, the structure of energy consumption, energy demand, and carbon emission trends in these parks. By considering local policies, development plans, and energy transition goals, the study assesses the development needs of energy consumption in the parks. It proposes differentiated schemes for constructing low-carbon energy systems in industrial parks, aiming to serve as a reference and guidance for the low-carbon energy transformation of typical industrial parks in the Lancang-Mekong region.

Abstract

In this paper, the digital image based triaxial shear test, computed tomography (CT) scanning test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) test were employed to investigate triaxial shear behavior and microstructure evolution of basalt fiber reinforced loess subjected to drying−wetting cycles. The results show that the shear failure mode of soil samples with relatively higher basalt fiber content changes from overall bulging failure to shear band failure with the increase in the number of drying−wetting cycles, while the shear failure mode exhibits an opposite trend with the increase in the fiber content at the early stage of drying−wetting process. Neither drying−wetting cycle nor fiber content has obvious effect on the type and characteristics of stress−strain curves, and both of them present strain-hardening behavior. The deviatoric stress at failure decreases with the increasing number of drying−wetting cycles; however, the attenuation rate gradually decreases. The deviatoric stress at failure first increases and then decreases with the increasing fiber content, showing a parabolic variation, and the optimal fiber content is 0.6%. A similar trend is observed between the ME value of CT scanning and the deviatoric stress at failure. Drying−wetting action induces cracking and loosening around the soil-fiber interface, thus weakening the fiber reinforcement effect. However, compared with unreinforced loess, fiber reinforced loess demonstrates strong overall stability in its microstructure. The macroscopic and microscopic damage variables reflecting the drying−wetting induced deterioration of loess samples were finally established, which shows a consistent variation trend.

Abstract

The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) on Cu catalyst holds great promise for converting CO2 into valuable multicarbon (C2+) compounds, but still suffers poor selectivity due to the sluggish kinetics of forming carbon–carbon (C–C) bonds. Here we reported a perovskite oxide-derived Cu catalyst with abundant grain boundaries for efficient C–C coupling. These grain boundaries are readily created from the structural reconstruction induced by CO2-assisted La leaching. Using this defective catalyst, we achieved a maximum C2+ Faradaic efficiency of 80.3% with partial current density over 400 mA cm−2 in neutral electrolyte in a flow-cell electrolyzer. By combining the structural and spectroscopic investigations, we uncovered that the in-situ generated defective sites trapped by grain boundaries enable favorable CO adsorption and thus promote C–C coupling kinetics for C2+ products formation. This work showcases the great potential of perovskite materials for efficient production of valuable multicarbon compounds via CO2RR electrochemistry.

Abstract

In order to further promote the interconnection development and construction of the power grids between the Lancang-Mekong countries and Southern China region and facilitate multilateral energy interaction, an assessment mechanism of the power balance and power trade potential between the two areas under long-term operation simulation is proposed. The mechanism first analyzes the energy supply structure, energy use forms, cross-border transmission capacity, and multi-area power trade potential of the power grids of the Lancang-Mekong countries and Southern China. Secondly, a power and electricity optimization model considering the long-period operation characteristics of generating units and regional interconnection transmission constraints is constructed, which can optimize the solution of a typical time-series operation scenario of 8760 h a year and improve the accuracy of regional power trade potential analysis. The results show that the Lancang-Mekong countries and the southern region of China have a significant potential for power trading, and the construction of a unified power trading market is vital for promoting the optimal allocation of power resources, achieving power balance, increasing the proportion of energy consumption, and reducing the cost of electricity consumption.

In this compelling study, we delve into the intricate relationship between the Equation of State (EoS) that encompasses a ``QGP-like'' phase transition and the directed flow ($v_1$) of protons and $\Lambda$ particles, specifically at beam energies under 10 GeV. Utilizing the sophisticated Multi-Phase Transport (AMPT-HC) model, our analysis not only resonates with the STAR experimental data but also reveals striking dips in the directed flow strength for both types of particles as the collision energy is ramped up. Abstract

Recent research arXiv:2410.15027 has explored the use of diffusion transformers (DiTs) for task-agnostic image generation by simply concatenating attention tokens across images. However, despite substantial computational resources, the fidelity of the generated images remains suboptimal. In this study, we reevaluate and streamline this framework by hypothesizing that text-to-image DiTs inherently possess in-context generation capabilities, requiring only minimal tuning to activate them. Through diverse task experiments, we qualitatively demonstrate that existing text-to-image DiTs can effectively perform in-context generation without any tuning. Building on this insight, we propose a remarkably simple pipeline to leverage the in-context abilities of DiTs: (1) concatenate images instead of tokens, (2) perform joint captioning of multiple images, and (3) apply task-specific LoRA tuning using small datasets (e.g., 20~100 samples) instead of full-parameter tuning with large datasets. We name our models In-Context LoRA (IC-LoRA). This approach requires no modifications to the original DiT models, only changes to the training data. Remarkably, our pipeline generates high-fidelity image sets that better adhere to prompts. While task-specific in terms of tuning data, our framework remains task-agnostic in architecture and pipeline, offering a powerful tool for the community and providing valuable insights for further research on product-level task-agnostic generation systems. 14. Group Diffusion Transformers are Unsupervised Multitask Learners

Abstract

While large language models (LLMs) have revolutionized natural language processing with their task-agnostic capabilities, visual generation tasks such as image translation, style transfer, and character customization still rely heavily on supervised, task-specific datasets. In this work, we introduce Group Diffusion Transformers (GDTs), a novel framework that unifies diverse visual generation tasks by redefining them as a group generation problem. In this approach, a set of related images is generated simultaneously, optionally conditioned on a subset of the group. GDTs build upon diffusion transformers with minimal architectural modifications by concatenating self-attention tokens across images. This allows the model to implicitly capture cross-image relationships (e.g., identities, styles, layouts, surroundings, and color schemes) through caption-based correlations. Our design enables scalable, unsupervised, and task-agnostic pretraining using extensive collections of image groups sourced from multimodal internet articles, image galleries, and video frames. We evaluate GDTs on a comprehensive benchmark featuring over 200 instructions across 30 distinct visual generation tasks, including picture book creation, font design, style transfer, sketching, colorization, drawing sequence generation, and character customization. Our models achieve competitive zero-shot performance without any additional fine-tuning or gradient updates. Furthermore, ablation studies confirm the effectiveness of key components such as data scaling, group size, and model design. These results demonstrate the potential of GDTs as scalable, general-purpose visual generation systems.

15. Coevolutionary game dynamics with localized environmental resource feedback

Abstract

Dynamic environments shape diverse dynamics in evolutionary game systems. We introduce spatial heterogeneity of resources into the Prisoner's Dilemma Game model to explore the co-evolution of individuals' strategies and environmental resources. The adequacy of resources significantly affects the survival competitiveness of surrounding individuals. Feedback between individuals' strategies and the resources they can use leads to the dynamic of the "oscillatory tragedy of the commons". Our findings indicate that when the influence of individuals' strategies on the update rate of resources is significantly high, individuals can form sustained spatial clustered patterns. These sustained patterns can directly trigger a transition in the system from the persistent periodic oscillating state to an equilibrium state. These findings align with observed phenomena in real ecosystems, where organisms organize their spatial structures to maintain system stability. We discuss critical phenomena in detail, demonstrating that the aforementioned phase transition is robust across various system parameters including: the strength of cooperators in restoring the environment, the initial distributions of cooperators, and noise.

Accurate load forecasting is crucial for maintaining the power balance between generators and consumers,particularly with the increasing integration of renewable energy sources, which introduce significant intermittent volatility. With the advancement of data-driven methods, machine learning and deep learning models have become the predominant approaches for load forecasting tasks. In recent years, pre-trained large language models (LLMs) have achieved significant progress, demonstrating superior performance across various fields. This paper proposes a load forecasting method based on LLMs, offering not only precise predictive capabilities but also broad and flexible applicability. Additionally, a data modeling method is introduced to effectively transform load sequence data into natural language suitable for LLM training. Furthermore, a data enhancement strategy is designed to mitigate the impact of LLM hallucinations on forecasting results. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated using two real-world datasets. Abstract

BACKGROUND There are abundant rare earth elements in Hetian jade. The accurate determination of the content of rare earth elements is of great significance for revealing the source of ore-forming materials, the nature of ore-forming fluids and the genesis of the deposit. OBJECTIVES To compare the different acid systems in microware digestion and investigate the elimination test of polyatomic interferences, so as to develop a method for the determination of REE in Hetian jade by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) with microwave digestion. METHODS After comparing the efficiency of HNO3-HF acid dissolution and Li2B4O7-LiBO2 fusion, the Hetian jade samples were digested by HNO3-HF. Fifteen rare earth elements were determined by ICP-MS. 103Rh and 49In are used as internal isotopes to complement matrix effect and correct sensitivity drift, in order to reduce matrix effect. RESULTS The detection limits of the method were 0.0008-0.0091μg/L, whereas the recoveries were 101.0%-120.0%. The relative standard deviation was 0.55%-1.83%(n=11). CONCLUSIONS This method uses less acid and has a low blank value. It is applied to the analysis of Hetian jade in different regions. The distribution pattern of rare earth elements is characterized by right-inclined light rare earth enrichment, which provides constraints on the genesis of the jade deposit.

Abstract

To solve the problem that traditional trajectory prediction methods cannot meet the requirements of high-precision, multi-dimensional and real-time prediction, a 4D trajectory prediction model based on the backpropagation (BP) neural network was studied. First, the hierarchical clustering algorithm and the k-means clustering algorithm were adopted to analyze the total flight time. Then, cubic spline interpolation was used to interpolate the flight position to extract the main trajectory feature. The 4D trajectory prediction model was based on the BP neural network. It was trained by Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast trajectory from Qingdao to Beijing and used to predict the flight trajectory at future moments. In this paper, the model is evaluated by the common measurement index such as maximum absolute error, mean absolute error and root mean square error. It also gives an analysis and comparison of the predicted over-point time, the predicted over-point altitude, the actual over-point time and the actual over-point altitude. The results indicate that the predicted 4D trajectory is close to the real flight data, and the time error at the crossing point is no more than 1 min and the altitude error at the crossing point is no more than 50 m, which is of high accuracy.

Abstract

Using the bamboo charcoal(BC) material as the template, the metallic chemical compound MoSi2 as the absorption catalyst, the MoSi2/BC porous composite materials were fabricated by the embedded solid reaction sintering method. The components, microstructure and dielectric constant of the MoSi2/BC composite material were detected by XRD, SEM and vector network analyzer respectively. The results show that in the argon protective atmosphere(Ar), at the sintering temperature of 1450℃, the phase composition of MoSi2/BC composite material primarily consists of MoSi2, SiC and amorphous carbon. In the pores of the bamboo charcoal, the SiC whiskers(SiCW) are distributed in an irregular way with different size and length, furthermore to form an intersecting network except MoSi2 particles. The existence of SiCW can significantly improve the wave absorption ability. At the range of 8.2-12.4GHz, after mixed with epoxy resin, the reflection losses of the composites of MoSi2/BC are gradually decreased with the increase of MoSi2/BC content. With the increase of sample thickness at the MoSi2/BC 50%(mass fraction) content, the minimum absorption peak of reflection loss is moving to the low frequency. The composites' lowest reflection loss is -13dB at 11.87GHz, and the reflection bandwidth value below -10dB is around 1.0GHz.This ind-icates that the MoSi2/BC composites possess perfect microwave absorbing performance.

Abstract

Basalt fiber(BF) was modified with chitosan to investigate the influence of the surface modification on biofilm attachment properties. The surface functional groups, composition and morphology were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, the hydrophi-licity of BF was analyzed by contact angle measurement and the biofilm attachment properties were discussed via the microorganism immobilization tests. The results show that the surface-modified basalt fiber (MBF) can be successfully prepared by physical coating method. The surface roughness of MBF is 209.04nm, and the contact angle of MBF is 66.62°. Moreover, the biomass attached on MBF surface is significantly increased and the biofilm is relatively dense and homogeneous. The micro-organism immobilization rate is increased from (129.27±1.23)% to (179.92±2.63)%, thus illustr-ating that surface modification of basalt fiber can significantly improve biofilm attachment properties.

Abstract

We explore the bound neutrons decay into invisible particles (e.g., $n\rightarrow 3 \nu$ or $nn \rightarrow 2 \nu$) in the JUNO liquid scintillator detector. The invisible decay includes two decay modes: $ n \rightarrow { inv} $ and $ nn \rightarrow { inv} $. The invisible decays of $s$-shell neutrons in $^{12}{\rm C}$ will leave a highly excited residual nucleus. Subsequently, some de-excitation modes of the excited residual nuclei can produce a time- and space-correlated triple coincidence signal in the JUNO detector. Based on a full Monte Carlo simulation informed with the latest available data, we estimate all backgrounds, including inverse beta decay events of the reactor antineutrino $\bar{\nu}_e$, natural radioactivity, cosmogenic isotopes and neutral current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos. Pulse shape discrimination and multivariate analysis techniques are employed to further suppress backgrounds. With two years of exposure, JUNO is expected to give an order of magnitude improvement compared to the current best limits. After 10 years of data taking, the JUNO expected sensitivities at a 90% confidence level are $\tau/B( n \rightarrow { inv} ) > 5.0 \times 10^{31} \, {\rm yr}$ and $\tau/B( nn \rightarrow { inv} ) > 1.4 \times 10^{32} \, {\rm yr}$., Comment: 28 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables

Abstract

This work presents FlashFace, a practical tool with which users can easily personalize their own photos on the fly by providing one or a few reference face images and a text prompt. Our approach is distinguishable from existing human photo customization methods by higher-fidelity identity preservation and better instruction following, benefiting from two subtle designs. First, we encode the face identity into a series of feature maps instead of one image token as in prior arts, allowing the model to retain more details of the reference faces (e.g., scars, tattoos, and face shape ). Second, we introduce a disentangled integration strategy to balance the text and image guidance during the text-to-image generation process, alleviating the conflict between the reference faces and the text prompts (e.g., personalizing an adult into a "child" or an "elder"). Abstract

Compared with the rigid hand rehabilitation robot, the soft hand rehabilitation robot has the advantages of good flexibility, which is of great significance to its research. In order to make the soft hand rehabilitation robot have the advantages of high stiffness and simple manufacturing process, a nested structure is proposed for finger soft actuator in this paper. The nested structure consists of outer restraint structure and inner core structure. The inner core structure can realize deformation under the action of air pressure. The outer restraint structure can improve bending efficiency by restraining deformation in non-functional direction of inner core structure. On this basis, the processing technology of nested structure is designed, and the effect of structural parameters on performance is analyzed. In order to illustrate the advantages of nested structure, the performance of nested structure and fiber-constrained structure is compared by simulation, which includes bending angle, gripping force and expansion amount (by measuring the deformation of the cross section). The simulation results show the advantages of the nested structure. A prototype of the soft hand rehabilitation robot is developed with nested structure as finger soft actuator, and the experimental results prove the feasibility of design. The results of this study provide a reference for the structure design of soft hand rehabilitation robot.

Robotic-assisted laparoscopy with the use of carbon dioxide (CO2) for insufflation is rapidly adopted procedure for gynecological surgery. Insufflation of the abdomen with CO2can potentially cause complications such as hypercarbia, subcutaneous emphysema (SE), pneumothorax, and pneumomediastinum. The incidence of SE ranges from 0.43% to 77%. Numerous potential mechanisms were proposed for the development of these complications. Several authors speculated that the surgical time, surgical ports, age, and peritoneal insufflation pressures are related to the development of these complications. These potentially lethal complications must be diagnosed and managed promptly. Abstract

In this paper, we present an improved analysis of the top-quark pair production via the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to \gamma^{*}\to t\bar{t}$ near the threshold region up to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) QCD corrections. Near the threshold region, the top-quark velocity $v$ tends to zero, leading to Coulomb singularity. To achieve a reasonable prediction in the threshold region, we reconstruct the analytical expression for the Coulomb-terms up to N$^{3}$LO accuracy by using the PSLQ algorithm, whose numerical values agree well with the previous N$^3$LO-level calculations. It is found that the N$^{3}$LO series still has sizable renormalization scale dependence, and to improve the precision of the series, we apply the Principle of Maximum Conformality to eliminate such scale dependence. After that, the Coulomb part is resummed into a Sommerfeld-Gamow-Sakharov factor, which finally leads to a much more reasonable behavior near the threshold region., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

The precision and predictive power of perturbative QCD (pQCD) prediction depends on both a precise, convergent fixed-order series and a reliable way of estimating the contributions of unknown higher-order (UHO) terms. It has been shown that by applying the Principal of Maximum Conformality (PMC), which applies the renormalization group equation recursively to set the effective magnitude of $\alpha_s$ of the process, the remaining conformal coefficients will be well matched with the corresponding $\alpha_s$ at each orders, leading to a scheme-and-scale invariant and convergent perturbative series. Thus different from conventional scheme-and-scale dependent fixed-order series, the PMC series will provide a more reliable platform for estimating UHO contributions. In this paper, by using the total decay width $\Gamma(H\to\gamma\gamma)$ which has been calculated up to N$^4$LO QCD corrections, we derive its PMC series by using the PMC single-scale setting approach and estimate its unknown N$^5$LO contributions by using the Bayesian analysis. The Bayesian-based approach estimates the magnitude of the UHO contributions based on an optimized analysis of probability density distribution, and the predicted UHO contribution becomes more accurate when more loop terms have been known to tame the probability density function. Using the top-quark pole mass $M_t$=172.69 GeV and the Higgs mass $M_H$=125.25 GeV as inputs, we obtain $\Gamma(H\to\gamma\gamma) =9.56504~{\rm keV}$ and the estimated N$^5$LO contribution to the total decay width is $\Delta\Gamma_H=\pm1.65\times10^{-4}~{\rm keV}$ for the smallest credible interval of $95.5\%$ degree-of-belief., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures

Abstract

A simple, rapid and sensitive liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of periplocymarin in human blood and urine was developed. The digoxin-d3 was used as an internal standard. Periplocymarin and digoxin-d3 (IS) were processed with ethyl acetate by liquid-liquid extraction. The chromatographic separation was performed on a Shim-pack XR-ODSIII C18 column with a 7 min gradient elution using methanol-ammonium formate (5 mmol/L) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min (65:35, v/v). The detection was performed on a triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer using positive-ion mode electrospray ionization in selected reaction monitoring mode. The periplocymarin was well separated from the internal standard. Two calibration curves were linear within the concentration range 0.01-1 μg/mL. The limit of detection and quantification of blood and urine samples were both estimated at 0.005 and 0.01 μg/mL. The interday and intraday precisions, accuracy, and recovery were assessed to verify this method. The results showed that the method was suitable for the determination of periplocymarin in forensic toxicological analysis and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract

The core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is considered one of the most energetic astrophysical events in the universe. The early and prompt detection of neutrinos before (pre-SN) and during the supernova (SN) burst presents a unique opportunity for multi-messenger observations of CCSN events. In this study, we describe the monitoring concept and present the sensitivity of the system to pre-SN and SN neutrinos at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector currently under construction in South China. The real-time monitoring system is designed to ensure both prompt alert speed and comprehensive coverage of progenitor stars. It incorporates prompt monitors on the electronic board as well as online monitors at the data acquisition stage. Assuming a false alert rate of 1 per year, this monitoring system exhibits sensitivity to pre-SN neutrinos up to a distance of approximately 1.6 (0.9) kiloparsecs and SN neutrinos up to about 370 (360) kiloparsecs for a progenitor mass of 30 solar masses, considering both normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. The pointing ability of the CCSN is evaluated by analyzing the accumulated event anisotropy of inverse beta decay interactions from pre-SN or SN neutrinos. The production of doubly strange hyperon $\Xi^-$ and trebly strange hyperon $\Omega^-$ in relativistic Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 4.2 GeV is explored based on a relativistic transport model that is interweaved with hadronic mean-field potentials for heavy-ion collisions. Upon comparison, it appears that relative to the double strangeness observable $\Xi^-$, the yield and collective flows of the triple strange $\Omega^-$ exhibit a higher sensitivity to the equation of state (EoS) of dense matter. Abstract

The effective management of stochastic characteristics of renewable power generations is vital for ensuring the stable and secure operation of power systems. This paper addresses the task of optimizing the chance-constrained voltage-stability-constrained optimal power flow (CC-VSC-OPF) problem, which is hindered by the implicit voltage stability index and intractable chance constraints Leveraging a neural network (NN)-based surrogate model, the stability constraint is explicitly formulated and directly integrated into the model. To perform uncertainty propagation without relying on presumptions or complicated transformations, an advanced data-driven method known as adaptive polynomial chaos expansion (APCE) is developed. To extend the scalability of the proposed algorithm, a partial least squares (PLS)-NN framework is designed, which enables the establishment of a parsimonious surrogate model and efficient computation of large-scale Hessian matrices. In addition, a dimensionally decomposed APCE (DD-APCE) is proposed to alleviate the "curse of dimensionality" by restricting the interaction order among random variables. Finally, the above techniques are merged into an iterative scheme to update the operation point. Simulation results reveal the cost-effective performances of the proposed method in several test systems.

Abstract

We discuss JUNO sensitivity to the annihilation of MeV dark matter in the galactic halo via detecting inverse beta decay reactions of electron anti-neutrinos resulting from the annihilation. We study possible backgrounds to the signature, including the reactor neutrinos, diffuse supernova neutrino background, charged- and neutral-current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos, backgrounds from muon-induced fast neutrons and cosmogenic isotopes. A fiducial volume cut, as well as the pulse shape discrimination and the muon veto are applied to suppress the above backgrounds. It is shown that JUNO sensitivity to the thermally averaged dark matter annihilation rate in 10 years of exposure would be significantly better than the present-day best limit set by Super-Kamiokande and would be comparable to that expected by Hyper-Kamiokande., Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures, matches the publised version
