Pointing movements can serve instrumental goals (‘pointing to press a button’) or communicative goals (‘pointing to indicate to someone which button to press’). Previous work has shown that communicative pointing follows different trajectories, and has different end points than instrumental pointing movements, depending on the addressee’s spatial location. This suggests that motor control processes are affected by communicative intentions, but the nature of this interface remains unknown. Using optimal feedback control theory, we construct a model of instrumental pointing, and explore how this model can be adjusted to reproduce the dependency between communicative trajectories and addressees’ locations. Our results show that the variations in end points cannot account for those trajectories. Instead, the kinematic data are best explained by ‘perspective taking’ on the part of the communicator, i.e., communicative pointing movements seem to be planned in a frame of reference that is adjusted to the addressee’s point of view.

Verbale zwischenmenschliche Kommunikation, die sich auf emotionale Zustände bezieht, ist ein fundamentaler Bestandteil sowohl alltäglicher als auch klinischer Interaktion. Mithilfe verschiedener theoretischer Ansätze wie dem Emotionsregulationsmodell nach Gross et al. (1998), dessen Erweiterung nach Moyal et al. (2013) und neurobiologischen Befunden schlägt die vorliegende Arbeit vor, das bewusste Erkennen eigener Emotionen sowie die Intensität des Erlebens von Emotionen als Mediatoren zwischen Emotionswortschatz und Emotionsregulation zu nutzen. Zur Überprüfung dieser Hypothesen kamen Korrelations- und Mediationsanalysen zur Anwendung. Sie zeigten eine vollständige Mediation durch das Konstrukt Erkennen eigener Emotionen bezüglich des Zusammenhangs zwischen Emotionswortschatz und Emotionsregulation. Das serielle Mediationsmodell von Emotionswortschatz, Erkennen eigener Emotionen, Erleben negativer Emotionen und Emotionsregulation konnte ebenfalls bestätigt werden. Dabei ergaben sich jedoch in Bezug auf positive Emotionen keine konsistenten Ergebnisse. Zudem schränken Limitationen wie die Zusammensetzung der Stichprobe und die Auswahl einzelner Messinstrumente die Verallgemeinerbarkeit der Resultate ein. Weiterführende Studien sollten vor allem die inkonsistenten Ergebnisse in Bezug auf positive Emotionen weiter untersuchen., The interpersonal communication in relation to emotional states is a fundamental component of everyday life as well as clinical interaction. Via theoretical models, such as the emotion regulation modell (Gross et al. 1998), it’s extension by Moyal et al. (2013) and basic neurobiological frameworks, both emotion recognition and the intensity of emotional experience were introduced as mediators between emotion vocabulary and emotion regulation. Korrelation analyses and mediation analyses were used in the present study. Results showed a complete mediation for the construct emotion recognition mediating the relationship between emotion vocabulary and emotion regulation. The serial mediation model of emotion vocabulary, emotion recognition, negative emotional experience and emotion regulation has been confirmed. The Data showed inconsistent results regarding positiv emotions. Limitations, such as sample composition and some poor measures might have negative effects on generaliseability.
