This study aimed to determine the efficacy of lactic acid bacteria probiotics containing Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactococcus lactis on nutrient consumption and egg weight of Japanese quail. A total of 120 females Japanese quails comprised four treatments and six replications. T0, T1, T2, and T3 treatment groups were administered L. acidophilus and L. lactis with concentrations of 0, 1, 2, and 3 mL/liter of drinking water. Consumption data were collected weekly, and egg weight data were collected daily during treatment. The data obtained were then analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with the Duncan multiple range test (p < 0.05). The results of this study showed that probiotics in drinking water reported significant differences (p < 0.05) compared between treatments (T1, T2, and T3) to reduce nutrient intake of organic matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and increase egg weight of quail. It can be concluded that the combination of L. acidophilus and L. lactis can reduce nutrient consumption but can increase the egg weight of Japanese quail.

Cellulase enzymes are widely used in the food, beverage, animal feed, textile, and paper industries. The high cost of producing enzymes and low enzyme activity provides opportunities for using chemicals, and efforts are needed to produce cellulase enzymes economically through media optimization. This research aims to find alternative media that make it possible to produce cellulase enzymes with high activity. This research created a control media (M0) using pro-analysis chemicals and CMC as a carbon source. Three types of cellulolytic bacterial growth media were also created, consisting of technical chemicals, rice straw as a substrate, and different protein sources. M1: alternative media using urea as a protein source; M2: alternative media using powdered milk as a protein source; and M3: alternative media using chicken liver as a protein source. A total of 1% of cellulolytic bacteria (Actinobacillus sp.) was grown in each media and then incubated at 40°C for 33 hours at a speed of 140 rpm, and the production curve and cellulase enzyme activity were measured at every 3-hour interval. The results showed that the highest cellulase enzyme production was achieved at 24 hours using alternative media with powdered milk (M2) as a protein source. The cellulase enzyme activity produced was 2.9612 µ/ml.

Salmonellosis, caused by Salmonella species, is one of the most common foodborne illnesses worldwide with an estimated 93.8 million cases and about 155,00 fatalities. In both industrialized and developing nations, Salmonellosis has been reported to be one of the most prevalent foodborne zoonoses and is linked with arrays of illness syndromes such as acute and chronic enteritis, and septicaemia. The two major and most common Salmonella species implicated in both warm-blooded and cold-blooded animals are Salmonella bongori and Salmonella enterica. To date, more than 2400 S. enterica serovars which affect both humans and animals have been identified. Salmonella is further classified into serotypes based on three primary antigenic determinants: somatic (O), flagella (H), and capsular (K). The capacity of nearly all Salmonella species to infect, multiply, and survive in human host cells with the aid of their pathogenic and virulence arsenals makes them deadly and important public health pathogens. Primarily, food-producing animals such as poultry, swine, cattle, and their products have been identified as important sources of salmonellosis. Additionally, raw fruits and vegetables are among other food types that have been linked to the spread of Salmonella spp. Based on the clinical manifestation of human salmonellosis, Salmonella strains can be categorized as either non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) and typhoidal Salmonella. The detection of aseptically collected Salmonella in necropsies, environmental samples, feedstuffs, rectal swabs, and food products serves as the basis for diagnosis. In developing nations, typhoid fever due to Salmonella Typhi typically results in the death of 5% to 30% of those affected. The World Health Organization (WHO) calculated that there are between 16 and 17 million typhoid cases worldwide each year, with scaring 600,000 deaths as a result. The contagiousness of a Salmonella outbreak depends on the bacterial strain, serovar, growth environment, and host susceptibility. Risk factors for Salmonella infection include a variety of foods; for example, contaminated chicken, beef and pork. Globally, there is a growing incidence and emergence of life-threatening clinical cases, especially due to multidrug-resistant (MDR) Salmonella spp, including strains exhibiting resistance to important antimicrobials such as beta-lactams, fluoroquinolones, and third generation cephalosporins. In extreme cases, especially in situations involving very difficult-to-treat strains, death usually results. The severity of the infections resulting from Salmonella pathogens is dependent on the serovar type, host susceptibility, the type of bacterial strains, and growth environment. This review therefore aims to detail the nomenclature, etiology, history, pathogenesis, reservoir, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, epidemiology, transmission, risk factors, antimicrobial resistance, public health importance, economic impact, treatment, and control of salmonellosis. Background: Curry leaf (Murraya koenigii) is a frequently used medicinal plant. The M. koenigii plant is a type of spice in the Rutaceae family. Curry leaf ethanol extract contains flavonoid compounds. Quercetin is a flavonol compound, a flavonoid derivative that has a 3-hydroxyflavone skeleton. There is a need to analyze the quercetin level in curry leaves utilizing high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Methods: This research was conducted from August to October 2023. A total of 500 g of powdered curry leaves were placed in a maceration vessel. The liquid ethanol extract was mixed with the first re-maceration filtration product. Qualitative analysis was performed by comparing the retention time of the sample solution chromatogram with the reference standard solution of quercetin under identical HPLC conditions. Results: The quantity of curry leave ethanol extract was 52.613 g. Analysis of the curry leaf extract samples revealed that sample 1 had a quercetin level of 0.080 mg/g, while sample 2 had a quercetin level of 0.079 mg/g. The final analysis of the curry leaf ethanol extract samples showed an average quercetin level of 0.03%. Background and Aim: Probiotics can be used as an alternative to antibiotic growth promoters because antibiotics are prohibited worldwide. This study investigated the potential combination of probiotics and acidifiers to improve feed intake, productive performance, egg mass, and egg yolk chemical composition of late-laying quail for the health of humans who consume quail products. Materials and Methods: One hundred laying quails were divided into 4 × 5 treatments, with each group consisting of five replications. The adaptation period was 2 weeks, and the treatment was continued for 4 weeks. Probiotics and acidifiers were added to drinking water and incorporated into the diet. Feed and water were provided ad libitum. Treatment duration (1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks) and additional feed treatment (control, probiotic 2% + 0.5% acidifier, probiotic 2% + 1% acidifier, probiotic 4% + 0.5% acidifier, and probiotic 4% + 1% acidifier, respectively). Results: Significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed in feed intake, quail day production, feed efficiency, egg mass in laying quails, and the chemical composition of egg yolk with probiotics and acidifiers in late-laying quails. Conclusion: The combination of probiotics and acidifiers can improve feed intake, production performance, egg mass, and egg yolk chemical composition in late-laying quails.

New antimicrobial materials have drawn research and development attention due to antimicrobial resistance. Antimicrobial resistance is expected to pose a significant challenge to life in the future. This review comprehensively elucidates the potential of Myrmecodia spp. as an antibacterial agent by systematically selecting and reviewing the majority of relevant studies published in the past 10 years and retrieved from Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and related books. Myrmecodia spp. is a non-parasitic plant that grows as an epiphyte. These essential nutrients for the body, including flavonoids, alkaloids, polyphenols, tannins, and saponins, are found within plants. Myrmecodia spp.’s compound functions as an antibacterial agent. This review synthesizes information from multiple sources detailing Myrmecodia spp.’s antibacterial capacity through various testing methods.

This study detected the presence of Brucella sp. antibodies in Sapera goats in Siliragung sub-district, Banyuwangi District using serological tests. The screening test used in this study was the Rose Bengal Test (RBT). Brucellosis causes goats to experience abortion and disruptive of reproduction system. The method used in this research is purposive sampling method using the criteria of sapera goats that have never been vaccinated. Using the blood serum of Sapera goats taken at the Siliragung subdistrict farm, Banyuwangi. The results of the study did not show any samples that were considered positive for Brucellosis in the Rose Bengal Test. In this study, no Brucella sp. antibodies were found in Sapera goats in Siliragung sub-district, Banyuwangi District.

This study was conducted to investigate the protective effects of Apis dorsata honey on the histopathological changes of the kidney in mice exposed to monosodium glutamate. This study used 25 male mice as the experimental animal which were divided into five groups with five replication, respectively i.e. (C-) was administered basal diet, (C+) was administered 4 mg/g BW MSG, (T1) was administered A. dorsata honey of 53.82 mg/20g BW followed by MSG 4 mg/g BW, (T2) was administered A. dorsata honey of 107.64 mg/20g BW followed by MSG 4 mg/g BW, and (T3) was administered A. dorsata honey of 161.46 g/20g BW followed by MSG 4 mg/g BW. All treatments were carried out orally for 52 days. This study was observed tubular epithelial hydropic degeneration, epithelial necrosis, and glomerular necrosis. Data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney test. As a result, for the epithelial and glomerular necrosis variables, the T3 group showed significant results when compared with C+, T1, and T2 groups. Moreover, T3 was not significantly different from the C- group. It can be concluded that A. dorsata honey in T3 group could protect mice kidneys from the damaging effect of MSG.

Background: Mycoplasma synoviae is an important poultry pathogen causing heavy economic losses Worldwide. Subclinical persistence of this pathogen is the major issue to control its prevalence. Aim: This study aimed to determine the molecular and cross immunogenicity of Mycoplasma synoviae among broiler in five Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Methods: This study was conducted by collecting 434 specimen samples from 40 broiler farms and desi poultry in five districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Specimen samples from the broiler birds (n=150), broiler farm environment (n= 264) and desi poultry birds (n=20) were aseptically collected and serially passaged in Modified Frey's broth. The homologous and heterologous antibody reactions were studied in rabbits. Prior to inoculation into rabbits the MS isolates were inactivated by formalin and adjuvanted with Montanide. Results: The overall turbidity prevalence in Frey's broth was observed as 109/434 (25.11%) samples and these turbidity positive samples were shifted on Frey's agar. After the appearance of classic fried egg colonies, the Biochemical confirmation was supported by production of Catalase and Phosphatase, reduction of Tetrazolium, Film and spot Assay and fermentation of Glucose for specie differentiation in avian mycoplasma. The MS prevalence percentage was recorded as 2% (9/434) through biochemical tests. The PCR results showed 0.5% MS prevalence with two field isolates (named as MS-1 and MS-2). Both MS-1 and MS-2 field isolates showed similar value (42.2) of homologous GMT titers. While the heterologous GMT for MS-1 serum against MS-2 isolate was lower (27.9) as compared to MS-2 serum against MS1 isolate (38.9). No titer was detected in control group (Group-III). Conclusion: In conclusion the results indicated the existence of MS in broiler birds and high homologous titers recorded between fields isolates which is a perpetual menace to poultry. Background and Aim: Antibiotics that increase growth have long been employed as a component of chicken growth. Long-term, unchecked usage may lead to microbial imbalance, resistance, and immune system suppression. Probiotics are a suitable and secure feed additive that may be provided as a solution. The objective of this research was to ascertain the effects of dietary multistrain probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium spp., and Lactobacillus plantarum) on the morphology (length and weight) of reproductive organs and productivity performance of laying hens during the early stage of laying. Materials and Methods: One hundred ISA Brown commercial layer chicks of the same body weight (BW) that were 5 days old were divided into five treatments, each with four replicates and four chicks in each duplicate. There were five different dietary interventions: (T1) 100% base feed; (T2) base feed with 2.5 g of antibiotic growth promoter/kg feed; (T3) base feed plus probiotics; (T4) base feed at 1 mL/kg with probiotics; and (T5) base feed with probiotics, 3 mL/kg feed, 5 mL/kg of feed. The parameters observed were performance, internal and exterior egg quality, and the morphology (length and weight) of laying hens’ reproductive organs. Results: Probiotic supplementation (L. acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, and L. plantarum) significantly affected the BW, feed intake, egg weight, yolk index, albumin index, Haugh unit, egg height, egg width, and morphology (length and weight) of laying hens’ reproductive organs compared to the control group (basic feed). In addition, there was no discernible difference between treatment groups in theeggshell weight and thickness variables across all treatment groups. Conclusion: When laying hens were between 17 and 21 weeks old, during the early laying period, microbiota inoculum supplements (L. acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, and L. plantarum) increased growth, the quality of the internal and external layers’ eggs, and the morphology of the laying hens’ reproductive organs.

The purpose of this study was a strategy in designing the establishment of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Animal Health Centers (UPTD Puskeswan) in order to optimize animal health services in Mamuju Regency. This study used an exploratory method using a survey. The sampling technique in this study used questionnaires, documentation and interviews. There were 10 samples of respondents from animal health workers and 100 samples of service users. Data analysis in this study used SWOT analysis. The appropriate strategy to support animal health services is a rapid growth strategy with alternative strategies: (1) strength-opportunity (SO) to improve service quality, service quantity and support the operational needs of officers in carrying out activities; (2) strength-threat (ST) implementing service SOP for animal health officers so that services are more efficient and systematic; (3) weakness-opportunity (WO) socialization of services to facilitate information to the public; and (4) weakness-threat (WT) making long-term planning to improve work ethic and understanding of drug use by veterinary officers.

This study aimed to determine the effect of Bifidobacterium sp. and Guazuma ulmifolia leaf extract on Japanese quail egg production, including egg mass, haugh unit (HU), and egg yolk colour. A total of 96 quails were in the early stages of production, which were randomized into four treatments and six replications. The treatments were (T0) without Bifidobacterium sp. and G. ulmifolia leaf extract, (T1) 0.2% Bifidobacterium sp., (T2) 0.2% G. ulmifolia leaf extract, and (T3) 0.2% Bifidobacterium sp. + 0.2% G. ulmifolia leaf extract. Egg mass data was collected in the third and fourth week of the treatment period, while the HU data and egg yolk colour were carried out on the last week of the treatment period. The treatment groups showed significant differences in egg mass. Groups T2 and T3 showed significant differences in egg yolk colour. The combination of feed additives can increase the value of HU but not significantly (p>0.05). In conclusion, the combination of 0.2% Bifidobacterium sp. and 0.2% G. ulmifolia leaf extract in drinking water can produce the highest egg quality.

Pote goats are kept by the rural community in Bangkalan Regency, Madura Island, Indonesia. Estrus symptoms in goats are usually unclear, causing low fertility. This study aimed to determine the intracervical artificial insemination at early and mid-estrus on the Pote does. The 24 the does were randomly divided into two groups and estrous synchronization with PGF2α of 200 µg intramuscularly, twice injections with 11 days intervals. The T1 groups of estrus the Pote does were inseminated at early estrus (0-12 hours). Meanwhile, T2 groups of estrus the Pote does were inseminated at mid-estrus (12-24 hours after signs of estrus appeared. The insemination conducted artificially using post-thawed Boer semen. The observed variables were non-return rate at day 21 post-insemination (NRR21), and pregnancy rate (PR) based on abdominal palpation diagnosis. The result showed that post-thawed Boer buck was qualified (sperm motility more than 40%) for artificial insemination. All of the Pote does were estrus after twice PGF2α intramuscular injection with 11 days intervals. The onset of estrus was 48-72 hours after the second injection PGF2α. The NRR21 and PR ranged from 66.66-100% and 37.50-66.66%, respectively. The NRR21 and PR of the T2 group were higher than those of the T1 group. It could be concluded that intracervical artificial insemination on Pote the does at mid-estrus were more effective, resulting in higher NRR21 and PR than those at early estrus.

Background and Aim: Antimicrobial resistance, especially antibiotic resistance, is one of the most severe public health challenges. Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria avoid and fight the mechanism of action of antibiotic drugs. This study aimed to determine the resistance of Escherichia coli from the milk of Ettawa crossbreed dairy goat at Blitar Regency, East Java, Indonesia, with the antibiotics streptomycin, sulfonamides, and trimethoprim. Materials and Methods: A total of 34 milk samples of Ettawa crossbreed dairy goats were used in this study. The initial stages of this research included tests of the physical properties, isolation, and identification of E. coli. Then, the E. coli isolates were tested for antibiotic resistance using the Kirby–Bauer method. Results: The results showed that all samples were positive for E. coli. The physical properties of milk, namely, color, odor, flavor, and consistency, were normal. The results of the alcohol test showed normal acidity, and the specific gravity of goat milk met the criteria, with an average specific gravity of 1.0295 g/mL. The results of the antibiotic resistance test showed that 4 (12%) samples were resistant to streptomycin, 5 (15%) to sulfonamide, and 3% to trimethoprim. Conclusion: The prevalence of E. coli from Ettawa crossbreed dairy goats in Blitar Regency, East Java, Indonesia, was 100%. Furthermore, this E. coli isolate exhibited resistance to antibiotics streptomycin, sulfonamides, and trimethoprim. The use of antibiotics in the dairy goat industry in Indonesia should be controlled to prevent the spread of resistant E. coli from animals to humans through the food chain and prevent the emergence of multidrug-resistant E. coli.

This study aimed to determine the analysis of super native chicken farm business with Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot supplementation on feed on the production performance of super native chickens, including feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. This study used 50 super male native chickens aged 4 weeks and adapted for 1 week then randomized into five treatments, including P0 (basal feed without BSF maggot), P1 (basal feed + 2.5% BSF maggot), P2 (basal feed + 5% BSF maggot), P3 (basal feed + 7.5% BSF maggot), and P4 (basal feed + 10% BSF maggot). Statistical data analysis was processed using One Way ANOVA and followed by post hoc Duncan. The results showed that the level of feed consumption was high in treatment P4, the highest body weight gain was in P4, the lowest feed conversion was in P1. Contribution margin analysis (CM) was used to determine the benefits of the treatment in this study. 2.5% BSF (P1) maggot supplementation is recommended to increase profits.

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of combination probiotics and Moringa oleifera (M. oleifera) extract in nutrient consumption of ducks. This study used 48 Peking ducks. The concentration of probiotic was 1.2 x 108 CFU/ml. The treatments of this research were P0 (control), P1 (4 ml probiotics), P2 (4 ml M. oleifera extract) and P3 (2 ml probiotics + 2 ml M. oleifera extract). The data were statistically analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that feed consumption of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and nitrogen free extract were no significant difference (p>0.05) between all treatments. It can be concluded that the addition of combination probiotics and M. oleifera extract can be used to maintain nutrient consumption and safe for health ducks.

This study aims to determined the effects of using nano-meniran (Phyllanthus niruri) extract on the feed economic value and income over feed costs of broiler chicken farms. This research method was an observational study with a sample of one-day-old Cobb strain broiler chicken at PT. Haraka Kitri Endah. A total of 79.600 day-old-chicken were divided into 4 groups of treatments and eight replications, each group of treatments consisted of 19.900 day-old-chicken. However, continuous and long-term antibiotics can cause resistance, suppress the immune system, and accumulate toxic residue. To overcome these problems, feed additives that are safe for livestock and health for humans are needed, including probiotics. Therefore, the study aimed to determine the effect of probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus lactis, and Bifidobacterium spp.) and Moringa oleifera extract on performance (body weight gain, body weight, feed intake, feed efficiency, and feed conversion ratio [FCR]), carcass yield (carcass weight and percentage of carcass) and mortality of Peking duck. Materials and Methods: This study used 48 Peking ducks, divided into four treatments and six replications. Each replication consisted of two ducks. The treatments were as follows: T0=control, T1=4 mL containing 1.2×108 CFU/mL of probiotic in drinking water, T2=4 mL containing M. oleifera extract in drinking water, and T3=2 mL containing 1.2×108 CFU/mL of probiotic in drinking water+2 mL containing M. oleifera extract in drinking water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding the concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil to the quail formula feed. This research is an experimental study using the factorial method. This experiment used 96 quail (Cortunix cortunix japonica), which were randomized into 6 treatments with 4 replications. Quails were divided into 6 groups and treated with different concentrations of turmeric flour and fish oil in each feed formula. The effects of different formula feeds were observed on changes in egg production and organoleptic changes. Egg production data were taken every day from week 3 to week 4 during the treatment period. The data taken is called Quail Day Production (QDP%). The organoleptic data of eggs were taken at the 3rd week of treatment and the preference test was carried out by 40 panelists on the aroma, taste and level of preference of quail eggs after being boiled. The addition of 0.3% turmeric flour significantly affected egg production but its combination with fish oil did not affect egg production. The combination of the concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil does not change the aroma of the eggs, but changes the taste of the eggs.

This study aims to examine the effect of giving Bacillus subtilis probiotics in laying hens on improving the quality of internal and external eggs with differences in shelf life. A total of 60 laying hens were divided into 4 treatment groups, namely P0 as a control that was not given probiotic B. Subtilis, P1 feed was added 0.005 grams B. Subtilis, P2 feed with added 0.01 grams B. Subtilis, P3 feed added 0.02 grams B. Subtilis then the eggs produced are stored for 1 day, 5 days and 10 days. The results of this study indicate that the administration of B. Subtilis probiotics with a concentration of 0.02 grams affects the increase in egg weight, egg yolk index value and HU values. The addition of B. Subtilis probiotics to racial feed can improve egg quality.

The aim of this research was to observe the influence of palm kernel meal and ß-Mannanase on laying hens. Laying hens up to 2500 birds were reared in opened-house cage fed with commercial feed substituted with palm kernel meal and ß-Mannanase. All hens were divided into five groups in an order P0 as control group, groups without enzyme which are P1 with 7% palm kernel meal and P2 with 14% palm kernel meal, groups with ß-Mannanase which are P3 7% palm kernel meal and P4 with 14% palm kernel meal. The observed variables are feed intake, feed cost, egg weight, egg mass, feed conversion ratio, hen day production, and mortality rate. The results indicated that threr are no significant difference from all variables. The percentage of palm kernel meal for 14% with ß-Mannanase cannot give any influence on laying hens productivity.

Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) is an alternative protein source for livestock. This research aimed to know the effectiveness of BSFL for commercial feed substitution, related to production, productivity, and profitability in quail farm. This study used 80 quails which divided into 4 groups and each group consist of 20 quails. The treatments contained BSFL substitution with different composition, control group (P0) was given 100% commercial feed, (P1) was given a 5% BSFL substitution, (P2) was given a 10% BSFL substitution and (P3) was given a 20% BSFL substitution. Contribution margin (CM) analysis was used to determine the yields of the groups in this study. Results showed that the highest feed consumption rate is in P3, production (egg in total and weight), productivity and yields in P3 is the highest, although there's no difference between P0, P2 and P3 based on the analysis MANOVA. BSFL substitution at 20% is recommended to the farmers to increase profits.

Aim: This study aimed to determine the use of probiotics Bifidobacterium spp. and Lactobacillus casei as alternative antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) to improve growth performance and business analysis. Materials and Methods: This study used a completely randomized factorial design. The first factor was the time of administration (1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks) and the second was the use of probiotics (control without probiotics; 0.1% AGP and 0.5% Bifidobacterium spp. + 0.25% L. casei). One hundred and eighty laying hens (Lohmann strain), of 30 weeks old, were divided into 12 treatment groups, composed of five replicates, each consisting of three laying hens. Results: The results showed that using 0.5% Bifidobacterium spp. + 0.25% L. casei in weeks 1 and 2 showed the lowest feed intake (FI) (112.11-112.19 g/day), the highest egg weight (60.28 g) in the 1st week, the lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) (2.21-2.23), and highest feed efficiency (44.75-45.25%) for 3-4 weeks, and the highest hen-day production (86.66-86.90%) for 3-4 weeks and the most profitable business analysis (IDR. 30,353). Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be concluded that the addition of 0.5% Bifidobacterium spp. + 25% L. casei probiotics can be used as a substitute for AGP; it can reduce the FI and FCR, increasing egg weight, feed efficiency, and hen-day production, as well as illustrating the results of the most profitable business analysis.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggantian tepung biji bunga matahari (Helianthus annuus L.) di pakan komersial dengan konsentrasi tertentu pada kinerja ayam pedaging. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain acak lengkap. Sampel terdiri dari 20 ekor ayam broiler dibagi secara acak menjadi 5 kelompok. Perlakuan adalah P1, P2, P3, dan P4 masing-masing CP511 pakan komersial yang mengandung tepung biji bunga matahari 25%, 30%, 35%, dan 40% serta kontrol tanpa substitusi P0 tepung biji bunga matahari. Variabel yang digunakan adalah konsumsi pakan, bobot akhir dan konversi pakan kemudian hasilnya dianalisis dengan Analisis Varians. Hasil yang diperoleh rata-rata nilai konsumsi pakan P0 adalah 79,76 gram, P1 adalah 77,90 gram, P2 adalah 77,35 gram, P3 adalah 77,98 gram, P4 adalah 77,58 gram. Hasil nilai rata-rata berat akhir 1545,5 gram yaitu P0, P1 adalah 1296,5 gram, P2 1325,75 gram, P3 1256 gram, P4 1203 gram. Hasil yang diperoleh dari nilai rata-rata konversi pakan adalah P0 1,37, P1 1,69, P2 1,61, P3 1,71, P4 1,88. Berdasarkan hasil dapat disimpulkan bahwa substitusi tepung biji bunga matahari dalam diet komersial tidak meningkatkan asupan pakan, berat badan dan dapat meningkatkan konversi pakan.

The study was undertaken to know the economic analysis in broilers fed probiotic containing Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus rhamnosus supplementation in lieu of antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) to feed conversion ratio (FCR) and body weight (BW). The treatments were T0: control, T1: 0.01 g AGP/kg feed, T2: 0.05 g/ kg feed, T3: 0.1 g/ kg feed, T4: 0.025 g probiotic/litre drinking water; T5: 0.05 g probiotic/liter drinking water. Data analysis was carried out using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method, business analysis was held out by XLSTAT then analyzing descriptively. The results indicated that there was a significant difference among the treatments. Probiotic administration of T2, T3, T4 and T5 could increase broiler's body weight and improve feed conversion ratio. The higher production performance and most profitable economic analysis was obtained with the addition of 0.025 g probiotic/litre (T4), which had the best results in a Break Even Point and Return Cost Ratio. It could be concluded that supplementation of 0.025 g probiotic/litre drinking water indicates the improve growth performance and profits in broiler.

The global chicken population continues to grow, and its contribution to food security increases, making it increasingly important to produce chicken meat that is safe for human and health. This study aims to prove Pediococcus pentosaceus ABY 118 to modulation of ChIFN-γ and ChIL-10 in chickens infected with E. tenella oocysts. This study used 100 of day-old chickens (DOC), randomly divided into 5 treatments; each treatment consists of 20 chickens. Aim: The purpose of this study was to know the genetic and biochemical identification of isolated lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from Balinese bovine (Bos sondaicus) intestinal waste, acidity, and ox bile salts and to inhibit the growth pathogen of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and the potential of those isolated to improve nutrient value of wheat pollard as animal feed ingredient by fermentation process. Materials and Methods: This research was divided into three stages. The first stage, isolated LAB were obtained from the bovine intestines at a slaughterhouse in Indonesia. Small intestinal samples were collected from 10 healthy Balinese beef cattle (B. sondaicus). The isolated LAB were identified by VITEK 2, polymerase chain reaction, and 16S rDNA. The basic local alignment search tool (BLAST) was performed to determine the phylogenetic tree. The second stage, the LAB were screened for their tolerance at pH 2, 3, and 4; bile salt, and antagonistic to enteric pathogen. In the third stage, to determine the potency of this isolate to increase nutrient content of wheat pollard by facultative anaerobe fermentation for 3 and 5 days. Results: The result of the first stage showed that the isolate could be identified as Lactobacillus casei WPL 315. The result of the second stage showed that the isolate tolerance to low pH (pH 2, pH 3, and pH4) for 90 min and 24 h, and this isolate had viability tolerance in 0.3% bile salt. The isolate can inhibit S. aureus and E. coli. The result of the third stage by proximate analysis showed that crude protein increased by 23.08% after fermentation, while crude fiber decreased by 61.24% on the level 0.5% L. casei subsp. WPL 315 in the 3-day fermentation. Conclusion: Based on the results, it showed that L. casei WPL 315 derived from indigenous intestinal Balinese beef cattle (B. sondaicus) has tolerant characteristic on acidity and ox bile salts, has antagonistic effect against E. coli and S. aureus, and has the ability to increase crude protein and decrease crude fiber content of wheat pollard. It would be interesting to determine whether the strain has a probiotic candidate.

This study aimed to identified cellulolytic inoculant code WPL 214 isolated from bovine rumen fluid waste of Ongole Cross Breed of Surabaya Slaughter house. A single colony of isolates celulolytic grown on 5 mL of liquid media Luria Bertani (LB) consist of 1 % NaCl , 1% tripton , 0.5 % yeast extract, containing1 % carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) at temperature 37°C, using a shaker of incubator during 16-18 hours. That isolate determined by 16S DNA gen analysis using High Fidelity Platinum Taq DNA Polymerase with primer forward PB36 5’-AGR GTT TGA TCM TGG CTC AG-3’ and primer reverse PB38 5’-GMT ACCTTG TTA CGA CTT-3’ for PCR. Nucleotide sequence of 16S DNA fragment was determined through the sequencing method. The result was then compared with GenBank database to recognize the type of the sample bacteria. Simpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan hasil urutan nukleotida genom 16S DNA serta pohon filogeni, maka isolat selulolitik tersebut diidentifikasi sebagai Enterobacter cloacae WPL 214.

The firstsampling was done at 0thhour and continued until OD values †showed a clear decline. Optical density wasmeasured with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wave length ë 600 nm. Growth curve was obtained from theresult of absorbance measurement on the time. Abstract Feed is an element that really support the activities of aquaculture, there for the feed that is available must be adequate and meet the needs of the fish. Efforts to reduce feed costs, some farmers use alternative feed ingredients as a substitute for feed ingredients. Peanut leaves in the form of flour can be used as fish feed in pellet form. Peanut is potential biological resources to be used as feed to the waste produce sufficient forage nutritional value. Peanut leaves nutrition consist of, the dry matter 96,2754%, 29,7397% crude fiber, 17,2475% crude protein (Unit Inspection Services Consulting and Training of Faculty of Veterinary Medical Laboratory Airlangga University, 2014).This research been used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with five treatments and four replications. The treatment used were control (P0), the provision of Enterobacter cloacae WPL 111 5% (P1), 10% (P2), 15% (P3) and 20% (P4) with each repeated four times. Parameters observed were content of crude protein and crude fiber after fermentation for seven days in anaerob facultative. Data about the contain of crude protein and crude fiber obtained from this studied were analyzed with analysis of variants to determine the effect of treatment. Different between treatments were tested with Duncan;s multiple range test (DMRT). These results indicate that administration Enterobacter cloacae WPL 111 10% gave significant effect of the increase in crude protein content in the fermented leaves peanut and administration Enterobacter cloacae WPL 111 5% gave significant effect of the decrease in crude fiber content in the fermented leaves peanut. The suggested dosage to reduce the content of crude fiber and increase the crude protein content in the fermented leaves peanut is 10%.

Setelah dilakukan fermentasi selama 7 hari, dilakukan analisis proksimat. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya diuji dengan analisis variansi, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. High Pathogenecity Avian Influenza (HPAI) viruses have high virulence and can frequently causesudden death on birds. The aims of this research was to know the role of Spirulina to a number ofmonocytes and lymphocytes in the blood of chickens which infected with the H5N1 virus. This researchconsisted of three levels of treatment in which each level given Spirulina 0%, 10%, 20% in the fresh wateralgae as drinking water. Each treatment consisted of seven replicates, and the treatment was done sincethe chickens at age 19 until 44 days ( for 25 days). Artificial infection of the chickens with the virus waschallenged by using AI (H5N1) 104 EID 50 (A/Ck/Indonesia/BL/03) with route to the respiratory tract (nosedrops) 0,1 mL starting on day 19. The results showed that there were a significant difference (p 0.05) was observed in basophils.

Abstract Tilapia is a freshwater fish species are widely cultivated in Indonesia. Tilapia production continues to grow every year, the average increase in the number of experienced production tilapia reaches 22.24% in the 2010-2011 range. Tilapia production in 2011 reached 567.449 tons and was second aquaculture production by major commodity after seaweed. This study aimed to determining differences in extract ether digestibility, organic matter, and energy on feed derived from different factories in tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) using surgery techniques. The research design is using completely randomized design. The variables were measured extract ether digestibility, organic matter, and energy in tilapia feed. Analysis of the data processed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine differences in treatment given. If there is a difference then followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test with a significance level of 5%. Based on the findings that there were no significant differences (p>0.05) in extract ether , organic matter, and energy digestibility of the feed value of tilapia. The results stated that the feed treatments A, B and C efficiently digested by tilapia.

Abstract The growth of betutu classified slow, so do efforts in order that growth of betutu which protected optimal by choosing the exact food combination. This research is purpose to know the growth fingerlings of betutu. This research using complete random program giving 3 repeated by the way of treating P1 (food 100% pelet), P2 (food 100% Daphnia spp.), P3 (food 100% Tubifex sp.), P4 (food 100% Anadara granosa), P5 (food combination 50% pelet and 50% Daphnia spp.), P6 (food combination 50% pelet and 50% Tubifex sp.), P7 (food combination 50% Anadara granosa and 50% Daphnia spp.), P8 (food combination 50% Anadara granosa and 50% Tubifex sp.). Main test parameter checked on this research is growth (accretion weight), growth rate, specific growth rate, and absolute body length growth, while supporting test parameter is water quality. Data of growth analysis using ANAVA (varian analysis) and if there is the influence the way of treating so continued with Test of Multiple Gap Duncan by trusty degree 95%. The result of research show the growth (accretion weight), growth rate, specific growth rate and the best absolute body length growth on the way of treating P6 which not different with the way of treating P3 and P8.

This research aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Moringa oleifera Lam. leaf extract on the growth of P. pentosaceus, L.acidophilus and L. plantarum during starter period on nutrient intake, body weight gain, FCR and feed efficiency in broiler chicken. Methods: This study consisted of three sub studies:(1) Screening test for phytochemical compounds. The flavonoid test was conducted by Bate Smith-Metcalf and Wilstatter method. The Tannin test with Denis’ reagent. The saponin test was performed by the Forth method. Triterpenoid tests were performed by the Liebermann-Bouchard method and the alkaloids test was conducted by the method of Mayer, Bouchardat and Wagner. (2) evaluation of level M.oleifera extract, where each test tube was added with 1 mL of each isolate and incubated at 37°C. The growth of probiotic bacteria was calculated by using the TPC. (3) evaluation of probiotics and M. oleifera in vivo to prove growth performance. All results were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) then followed by the Duncan test. Results: (1)The phytochemical screening test of M. Oleifera extract showed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids and alkaloids; (2) in vitro evaluation of M. oleifera extract could increased the growth of bacteria probiotic (p M. oleifera extract could improve growth performance. The result of body weight, body weight gain, FCR and feed efficiency signifcantly differed (p0.05) on nutrient intake. Methods: This study consisted of three sub studies: (1) Screening test for phytochemical compounds; (2) evaluation of several doses of Moringa extract (0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% ). At the end of treatment, each colony was measured using the total plate count; (3) evaluation of probiotics and M. oleifera in vivo to prove growth performance on starter-phase broiler chicken. All results were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) then followed by the Duncan test.
