-
Weiner, Lawrence H.
- Abstract
Kindergarten age children were screened at pre-registration through extensive diagnostic procedures for placement in a class designed for normal children with developmental delays staffed by a Special Education teacher and language therapist. Instruction was prescriptive and individualized. Of the twelve children who were high risk failures at the onset, eight improved to low risk failures at the conclusion with statistical significance. It was concluded that Special Education is valuable for non-handicapped children with developmental learning problems. (Author)

12. Project STRETCH: Strategies for Training Regular Educators to Teach Children with Handicaps. Final Report, FY 1977-78.
- Author
-
Metropolitan Cooperative Educational Service Agency, Atlanta, GA. and Weiner, Lawrence R.
- Abstract
The final report discusses achievements of Project STRETCH (Strategies for Training Regular Educators to Teach Children with Handicaps), designed to develop 20 one-half hour videotape cassettes and manuals on the needs of mild to moderately handicapped students and methods of maintaining them in the regular classroom. Topics for the videotapes were identified by representative public school teacher groups and university personnel as essential in meeting the teaching responsibility of providing good instruction for all students, with emphasis on handicapped students only where the handicapping condition necessitated an instructional difference for maximum potential development. Topics included were mainstreaming, grouping, learning styles, simulation, assessment, learning centers, peer tutoring, behavior modification, and parent counseling. National and statewide dissemination activities are described. The bulk of the document is composed of six appendixes, including course evaluations, project correspondence, and descriptions of STRETCH workshops. (CL)

This publication focuses on the manifold activities at the Kunsthof Zürich, an exceptional outdoor exhibition space. Established in 1993, following an initiative by today's Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the Kunsthof Zurich has, over the past twenty years, hosted exhibitions and art projects undertaken by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists as well as by art students. It has been used for site-specific works, as a production and discursive site, and as a point of departure for other projects. This book gathers in a single volume all the art projects and exhibitions realised at the Kunsthof Zürich between 1993 and 2013. The extensive body of materials and documents provides not only an in-depth insight into the broad spectrum of artwork undertaken in situ, but also into the various shapes that the Kunsthof has assumed and chosen to present itself as an exhibition institution in the course of time: sketches, concept papers and notes, letters, faxes, e-mails, press releases, invitation cards, brochures, exhibition photographs, and newspaper articles. These items have amassed in analog or digital form in the Kunsthof archive, and they tell a multifaceted story of the site's history. In this volume, a page is devoted to each project, followed by selected, hitherto unpublished archival material. Some of the works realised at the Kunsthof Zürich include sound motion or moving images, or were audio- and video-recorded. These sound and visual documents are available at www.editionfink.ch/kunsthof., + ID: 586224 + Serientitel: Schriftenreihe des Instituts für Gegenwartskunst

- Abstract
Hardcover book compiling texts by 28 artists invited to respond to the statement "The next Documenta should be curated by an artist." In his introduction, editor Hoffmann recounts how the idea grew out of a discussion with artist Carsten Höller, and that the project provocatively explores artists' relations to the profession of curating, rather than critiquing previous Documenta exhibitions. The artists' writings are approached from a wide range of perspectives, from critical reflections to fantastical/radical ideas to elaborately conceived proposals. Also includes a selection of texts–including heated debates–contributed by e-mail during an Open Forum between July 2003 and February 2004. 3 bibl. ref

- Abstract
Providing a re-examination of what Osborne identifies as a major turning point in contemporary art, this monograph takes a chronological and stylistic look at conceptual art from its “pre-history” (1950-1960) to contemporary practices that use conceptual strategies. Osborne surveys the development of the movement in relation to the social, cultural and political contexts within which it evolved. With extended captions, key works are compiled according to ten themes that also serve to present a collection of critical texts, artists’ statements, interviews and commentaries. Includes biographical notes on artists (6 p.) and authors (2 p.), a bibliography (2 p.) and an onomastic index (4 p.) Circa 150 bibl. ref.

- Abstract
This catalogue documents a major exhibition of contemporary sculpture held every ten years in Münster. Grasskamp's analysis of art and the city focuses on sculptural interventions in public space. Works by Oldenburg, Beuys, Asher, Serra, Judd and Haacke are discussed in relation to narrative space, architectural facade, performance, politics and site-specificity. Daniel Buren focuses on the differences between art in the museum and out in the street. Artist's statements. 85 bibl. ref.

ART ,ARTS ,ARTISTS - Abstract
This article considers the views of several artists on art making. John Goodyear said that his recent work relates most to his earliest work done in the 1950s. He worked in a series, which change abruptly for unknown reasons. The things within each series looks very much alike. Making works which consist of more than one part is a trait that continued up to now. A motivation for his work is the realization that so much is hidden in this world. Not only should he try to find out what is hidden, but also he could provide in the work something similar to the life experience. On the other hand, Nancy Grossman shared that the greatest interest in his life has been art. He keeps going back to it again and again for his excitement and sustenance. It is his own way of understanding existence, himself and other people. And it is the only thing he ever really wanted to do. Ellen Lanyon related that her works evolve through a stream of consciousness which suggests the narrative and embellishes the combinations. Old friends, both animate and inanimate, reappear, not as a premeditated scenario but rather as a spontaneous theatric. Transformations, prestidigitation and the anthropomorphic universe are all constant players in the drama that unfolds. Motifs do seem to be cyclic but she does not question their reappearance.

- Abstract
A document derived from the lecture series "Art and Society," in which the history and future of public space management in Vancouver are related to the problematics of public art. Several texts struggle to identify who and what is "public," addressing architecture, democracy, multiculturalism, the monument, intervention, and the homeless population. With reprinted excerpts from texts by Wodiczko. Brief biographical notes on the eight contributors. 28 bibl. ref.
