Rough surface structures filled with CW coating and grafted with the PDMS polymers were used to design the plant-based composite CW&PDMS coating that exhibit satisfactory antifouling properties and mechanically durable. The biofouling adhering to underwater facilities has a negative impact on the environment, energy, and economic development. However, conventional anti-adhesion organic silicon and organic fluorine materials often have poor adhesion properties and mechanical stability when combined with substrates. This work presents a novel strategy for preparing composite antifouling coatings that low surface energy plant-based carnauba wax (CW) covering through rough substrates and chemically bond with flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) oligomers or polymers. The CW coating adheres strongly to the substrate owing to the mobility of the liquated CW, which flows into the micro-nano structure of the substrate and solidifies on the solid surface. The polymerization reaction of (PDMS) oligomers compounded the coating, thereby creating a composite coating with superior lubricating and antifouling properties. This distinctive bonding process imbued the coating with exceptional characteristics, including remarkable mechanical stability in destructive tests as well as an impressive ability to repel fouling, such as protein attachment, bacterial adhesion, diatom deposition, and biofilm formation. This work systematically investigated the impact of the composition and structure of composite materials on their mechanical stability and resistance to fouling, and developed high-performance antifouling coatings in the real world. The ITER project is one of the largest international cooperative scientific projects in the world, aiming to verify the feasibility of magnetic confinement controlled nuclear fusion technology and provide a technical basis for the subsequent construction of fusion energy power stations. The success or failure of ITER will greatly affect the commercialization process of fusion energy. The probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) was a powerful means to evaluate the risk and reliability of nuclear facility and achieved great success in safety assessment of fission power plants. Based on this, the PSA progress for ITER was proposed in this paper. And the in-vessel leakage accident was investigated to verify the effectiveness of proposed method. The result shows the maximum possible radiological consequences of ITER in-vessel leakage accident of ITER is 1.6E−3 mSv, and the frequencies of this consequence is 1.63E−8/year. The reason of this consequence was also discussed in this paper. Those result could provide some valuable reference for radiation risk assessment and safety supervision of fusion commercial reactor in the nuclear future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hierarchical self-assembled CuO hollow microspheres with superior photocatalytic performance are synthesized via a simple hydrothermal process in the presence of cationic surfactants (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB). The structure, morphology, and optical absorption performance of CuO samples prepared with different surfactants including CTAB, nonionic surfactant (polyvinylpyrrolidone, PVP) and anionic surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS) are characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectra. Moreover, the photocatalytic performances of the CuO samples are evaluated by the photo-degradation of a simulative contaminant methylene blue. The XRD patterns and FESEM images demonstrate that the category of surfactants have effects on the phase structure and morphology of CuO. Compared with bulk CuO (1.20 eV at room temperature), the band gap of CuO microspheres prepared with different surfactants including CTAB, PVP and SDS are measured at 2.16 eV, 2.29 eV, 2.44 eV, respectively, which exhibits a blue shift in the UV-vis spectra. The synthesized hierarchical self-assembled CuO hollow microspheres reveal commendable photocatalytic activity, in which the photo-degradation rate could rise to 94.1%. Copper oxide (CuO), as a multifunctional inorganic material, has a wide application in various fields such as printing and dyeing, room-temperature desulfurizing technology, ceramic, medicine and catalytic reaction. In this paper, pure CuO nanostructures and M (M: Mn, Cd, Zn)-doped CuO nanostructures were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method. The morphology, structure and optical properties of obtained products were fully investigated by FESEM, XRD, UV-Vis. Besides, the photocatalytic property was also characterized by photodecomposition test. On the basis of characterization results, doped ions had an effect on the morphology and structure of CuO nanostructures. The optical properties of CuO nanostructures were affected obviously with doping ions. The M-doped CuO nanostructures exhibited excellent photocatalytic property. And photo-degradation rate can reach to 91.08 % with the Cd-doped CuO nanostructures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mn-doped CuO nanosheets were prepared through a hydrothermal method to enhance their photocatalytic property. The structural and morphological features were monitored by using X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). UV-vis absorption spectra showed the enhance absorption performance both in UV and visible light region. The band gaps were also calculate and the minimum value was 1.25 eV. The photocatalytic activity was investigated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB), which indicated that the photoactivity of samples depended on the amount of Mn2+ incorporated into the CuO lattice. The improved performance of photocatalysts can be attributed to enhanced light absorption and lower electron-hole recombination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
