Abstract: The DØ experiment enjoyed a very successful data-collection run at the Fermilab Tevatron collider between 1992 and 1996. Since then, the detector has been upgraded to take advantage of improvements to the Tevatron and to enhance its physics capabilities. We describe the new elements of the detector, including the silicon microstrip tracker, central fiber tracker, solenoidal magnet, preshower detectors, forward muon detector, and forward proton detector. The uranium/liquid-argon calorimeters and central muon detector, remaining from Run I, are discussed briefly. We also present the associated electronics, triggering, and data acquisition systems, along with the design and implementation of software specific to DØ. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2005-10-07 We have performed a search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with bottom quarks in ppÂ collisions, using 260pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The cross sections for these processes are enhanced in many extensions of the standard model (SM), such as in its minimal supersymmetric extension at large tanâ□¡Î. The results of our analysis agree with expectations from the SM, and we use our measurements to set upper limits on the production of neutral Higgs bosons in the mass range of 90 to 150 GeV. © 2005 The American Physical Society. Abstract: A partial-wave analysis of the reaction π − p → η η π − p at 18 GeV/c has been performed on a data sample of approximately 4000 events obtained by Brookhaven experiment E852. The J P C = 0 − + π ( 1800 ) state is observed in the a 0 ( 980 ) η and f 0 ( 1500 ) π decay modes. It has a mass of 1876 ± 18 ± 16 MeV / c 2 and a width of 221 ± 26 ± 38 MeV / c 2 . The J P C = 2 − + π 2 ( 1880 ) meson is observed decaying through a 2 ( 1320 ) η . It has a mass of 1929 ± 24 ± 18 MeV / c 2 and a width of 323 ± 87 ± 43 MeV / c 2 . Both states are potential candidates for non-exotic hybrid mesons.

Abstract: The exclusive reaction π − p → η π 0 n , η → π + π − π 0 at 18 GeV / c has been studied with a partial wave analysis on a sample of 23 492 η π 0 n events from BNL experiment E852. A mass-dependent fit is consistent with a resonant hypothesis for the P + wave, thus providing evidence for a neutral exotic meson with J P C = 1 − + , a mass of 1257 ± 20 ± 25 MeV / c 2 , and a width of 354 ± 64 ± 60 MeV / c 2 . New interpretations of the meson exotics in neutral η π 0 system observed in E852 and Crystal Barrel experiments are discussed.

Abstract: We present the measurement of R = B(t -> Wb)/B(t -> Wq) in pp collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, using 230 pb(-1) of data collected by the DO experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We fit simultaneously R and the number (N-tt) of selected top quark pairs (tt), to the number of identified b-quark jets in events with one electron or one muon, three or more jets, and high transverse energy imbalance. To improve sensitivity, kinematical properties of events with no identified b-quark jets are included in the fit. We measure R = 1.03(-0.17)(0.19) (stat + syst), in good agreement with the standard model. We set lower limits of R > 0.61 and vertical bar V-tb vertical bar > 0.78 at 95% confidence level.

Abstract: The results of a search for squarks and gluinos using data from p p ¯ collisions recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are reported. The topologies analyzed consist of acoplanar-jet and multijet events with large missing transverse energy. No evidence for the production of squarks or gluinos was found in a data sample of 310 pb−1. Lower limits of 325 and 241 GeV were derived at the 95% C.L. on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tan β = 3 , A 0 = 0 , and μ 0 .

Abstract: We report on a search for the pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks (LQ_2) in ppbar collisions at the center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 294 +- 19 pb^-1 recorded with the D0 detector. No evidence for a leptoquark signal in the LQ_2 LQ_2 -> muq muq channel has been observed, and upper bounds on the product of cross section times branching fraction were set. This yields lower mass limits of m(LQ_2) > 247 GeV for beta = Br(LQ_2->muq) = 1 and m(LQ_2) > 182 GeV for beta = 1/2. Combining these limits with previous D0 results, the lower limits on the mass of a second generation scalar leptoquark are m(LQ_2) > 251 GeV and m(LQ_2) > 204 GeV for beta = 1 and beta = 1/2, respectively.

Abstract: We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in the s-channel and t-channel using neural networks for signal-background separation. We have analyzed 230 pb(-1) of data collected with the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and find no evidence for a single top quark signal. The resulting 95% confidence level upper limits on the single top quark production cross sections are 6.4 pb in the s-channel and 5.0 ph in the t-channel. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: New measurements of peripheral meson production are presented. The data confirm the existence of exotic mesons at 1.4 and 1.6 GeV/c2. The latter state dominates the eta'pi- decay spectrum. The data on eta pi+pi-pi- decay show large strength in several exotic (Jpc = 1- +) waves as well.

Abstract: A partial-wave analysis of the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ at $18\mathrm{GeV}/c$ has been performed on a data sample of 250 000 events obtained by Brookhaven experiment E852. The expected ${J}^{\mathrm{PC}}{\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1}^{++}{a}_{1}(1260)$, ${2}^{++}{a}_{2}(1320)$, and ${2}^{\ensuremath{-}+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}_{2}(1670)$ resonant states are clearly observed. The exotic ${J}^{\mathrm{PC}}{\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1}^{\ensuremath{-}+}$ wave produced in the natural parity exchange processes shows distinct resonancelike phase motion at about $1.6\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ in the $\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}$ channel. A mass-dependent fit results in a resonance mass of $1593\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{8}_{\ensuremath{-}47}^{+29}\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$ and a width of $168\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{20}_{\ensuremath{-}12}^{+150}\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$.

Abstract: We report the observation of the Ξ c ∗+ state decaying into Ξc0π+ with Ξ c 0 →Λ K 0 π + π − or ΛK−π+π+π−. We have observed 47±11 candidate events for the Ξ c ∗+ state and measured its mass to be 177.1±0.5±1.1 MeV/ c 2 above the Ξc0 mass. We have also measured the Ξc0 mass to be 2470.0±2.8±2.6 MeV/ c 2 .

Abstract: New measurements of the lifetime and mass of the Ξ c + are presented. The Ξ c + has been reconstructed through the two decay channels Ξ − π + π + and Σ + K − π + . The data were accumulated by the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687. The lifetime is measured to be 0.34 +0.07 −0.05 (stat.)±0.02 (syst.) ps while the mass is measured to be 2465.8±1.9 (stat.)±2.5 (syst.) MeV/c 2 .

Abstract: The {eta}{pi}{sup {minus}} system has been studied in the reaction {pi}{sup {minus}}p{r_arrow}{eta}{pi}{sup {minus}}p at 18 GeV/c. A large asymmetry in the angular distribution is observed indicating interference between L-even and L-odd partial waves. The a{sub 2}(1320) is observed in the J{sup PC}=2{sup ++} wave, as is a broad enhancement between 1.2 and 1.6 GeV/c{sup 2} in the 1{sup {minus}+} wave. The observed phase difference between these waves shows that there is phase motion in addition to that due to a{sub 2}(1320) decay. The data can be fitted by interference between the a{sub 2}(1320) and an exotic 1{sup {minus}+} resonance with M=(1370{plus_minus}16{sup +50}{sub {minus}30}) MeV/c{sup 2} and {Gamma}=(385{plus_minus}40 {sup +65}{sub {minus}105}) MeV/c{sup 2} . {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}

Abstract: Charged hadronic five-body decays of D + and D s + mesons have been studied in the E687 photoproduction experiment at Fermilab. We report the first compelling evidence of the decay mode D + , D s + → π − π − β + π + π + and the measurements of the decays D + → K − π − π + π + π + , D s + → K − K + π − π + π + and D s + → φπ − π + π + . An analysis of the D + → K − π − π + π + π + resonance structure is also presented.

Abstract: We report on the results of a search for fourteen flavor changing neutral current, lepton number violating, or lepton family number violating decays of the charmed meson D + in the large charm sample recorded by the Fermilab photoproduction experiment E687. No evidence is seen for these rare and standard-model-forbidden decays, of the form D + → h ± l ∓ l + (with h = π , K and l = e , μ ); we determine 90% confidence level upper limits on their absolute branching fractions in the range (9–20) × 10 −5 .

Abstract: A 3045 element lead glass calorimeter and an associated fast trigger processor have been constructed, tested and implemented in BNL experiment E852 in conjunction with the multi-particle spectrometer (MPS). Approximately, 10 9 all-neutral and neutral plus charged triggers were recorded with this apparatus during data runs in 1994 and 1995. This paper reports on the construction, testing and performance of this lead glass calorimeter and the associated trigger processor.

Abstract: Results for the Cabibbo suppressed semileptonic decays D 0 → π − e + ν and D 0 → π − μ + ν (charge conjugates are implied) are reported by Fermilab photoproduction experiment E687. We find 45.4 ± 13.3 events in the electron mode and 45.6 ± 11.8 in the muon mode. The relative branching ratio BR (D 0 →π − l + v) BR (D 0 →K − l + v) for the combined sample is measured to be 0.101 ± 0.020 (stat.) ± 0.003 (syst.) 14 .

Abstract: We report measurements of charm particle production asymmetries from the Fermilab photoproduction experiment E687. An asymmetry in the rate of production of charm versus anticharm particles is expected to arise primarily from fragmentation effects. We observe statistically significant asymmetries in the photoproduction of D+, D ∗+ and D0 mesons and find small (but statistically weak) asymmetries in the production of the Ds+ meson and the Λc+ baryon. Our inclusive photoproduction asymmetries are compared to predictions from nonperturbative models of charm quark fragmentation.

Abstract: We report on the study of charm baryons decaying to Λ c + : Λ c ★+ (2625) → Λ c + π + π − , Λ c ★+ (2593) → Λ c + π + π − , Σ c 0 → Λ c + π − and Σ c ++ → Λ c + π + . We present a confirmation of the state Λ c ∗+ (2593) and determine its mass difference to be M ( Λ c ★+ (2593)) − M ( Λ c + ) = 309.2 ± 0.7 ± 0.3 MeV/ c 2 . We determine the lower limit on the resonant branching ratio to be BR (Λ c ★+ (2593) → Σ c π ± Λ c ★+ (2593) → Λ c + π + π − ) > 0.51 (90% c.l.). We also measure the mass differences M ( Σ c 0 ) − M ( Λ c + ) = 166.6±0.5±0.6 MeV/ c 2 and M ( Σ c ++ ) − M ( Λ c + ) = 167.6±0.6±0.6 MeV/ c 2 . Finally, we measure the relative photoproduction cross sections for Λ c ★+ and Σ c with respect to the (inclusive) photoproduction cross section for Λ c + .

Abstract: The design, construction, and performance of a 198-element CsI detector built for Brookhaven experiment E852 is described. Design considerations for the array included such factors as rate, magnetic field, sensitivity and acceptance. Signals were obtained with a photodiode/preamplifier combination using PIN photodiodes. Data were taken over the course of two runs during the summers of 1993 and 1994. A calibration procedure using halo muons is described. The gain, energy resolution, and position resolution of the detector are discussed. Finally, the ability of the detector to be used as a low energy photon veto is illustrated using the data.

Abstract: Fermilab high-energy photoproduction experiment E687 provides a high statistics sample of the decay mode D + → K ∗0 μ + ν (charge conjugates are implied). Our analysis yields a branching ratio of Γ (D + → K ∗0 μ + ν) Γ (D + → K − π + π + ) = 0.56±0.04±0.06 . The ratios of the form factors governing the decay are measured to be R ν = 1.74 ±0.27±0.28 and R 2 = 0.78±0.18±0.10, implying a polarization of Γ l Γ t = 1.20±0.13 ±0.13 for the electron decay. Finally, we report new limits on the decay modes D + → K − π + μ + ν (nonresonent) and D + → K ∗0 π 0 μ + ν .

Abstract: We report the results of a search for the doubly Cabibbo suppressed decays D+ → K+K−K+ and D+ → ΦK+, and the singly Cabibbo suppressed decays Ds+ → K+K−K+ and Ds+ → ΦK+. Our measurements are all consistent with zero branching ratio, and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the relative D+ branching ratios: BR(ΦK + ) BR(Φπ + ) , BR(K + K − K + ) BR(Φπ + ) and BR(K + K − K + ) BR(K − π + π + ) , and the relative Ds+ branching ratios: BR(ΦK + ) BR(Φπ + ) and BR(K + K − K + ) BR(Φπ + ) . The data were accumulated by the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687.

Abstract: We present the first measurement of the lifetime of the Ω c 0 baryon. The data were collected in the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687. The measured lifetime is τ = 86−20+27(stat.) ± 28(syst.) fr. Thus the Ω c 0 has one of the shorter lifetimes among the weakly decaying singly charmed baryons.

Abstract: Amplitude analyses of the D+ and Ds+ → K+K−π+ Dalitz plots are presented using data collected by the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687. Our data are fit to a model consisting of a sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes for the intermediate two-body resonant decay modes. We extract decay fractions and relative phases. These results are used to infer new branching ratios for D+ → K+K−π+ inclusive as well as the Φπ+ and K ∗ (892) 0 K + channels.

Abstract: A scintillation detector meeting specific physics requirements and geometrical constraints is described. It operates with high efficiency inside a 1 T magnet in an intense charged particle beam of up to 3 × 106 particles/s. It uses a unique light collection system combining air space, wavelength shifter disc and conventional lucite light guides. The detector is used in a veto mode to identify interactions that produce an all-neutral final state. The details of the counter's design, construction and performance are described.

Abstract: The branching ratios of D 0 → K 0 K 0 and D0 → Ks0Ks0Ks0 relative to D 0 → K 0 π + π − are reported. The data were accumulated in the 1990–1991 fixed target running period of the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687. Γ (D 0 → K 0 K 0 )/Γ (D 0 → K 0 π + π − is measured to be 0.039±0.013±0.013 and Γ (D 0 →K s 0 K s 0 K s 0 )/Γ (D 0 → K 0 π + π − ) is measured to be 0.035±0.012±0.006. We also measure Γ (D 0 → K 0 π + π − /Γ (D 0 → K − π + ) to be 1.61±0.10±0.15.

Abstract: We report the results of a search for [ital CP]-violating decay rate asymmetries ([ital A][sub [ital CP]]) in the charm decay modes [ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][ital K][sup +][pi][sup +], [ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital [bar K]][sup *0][ital K][sup +], [ital D][sup +][r arrow][phi][pi][sup +], and [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup +][ital K][sup [minus]]. Our measurements are all consistent with zero asymmetry: [ital A][sub [ital CP]]([ital KK][pi])=[minus]0.031[plus minus]0.068, [ital A][sub [ital CP]]([ital K][sup *][ital K])=[minus]0.12[plus minus]0.13, [ital A][sub [ital CP]]([phi][pi])=0.066[plus minus]0.086, and [ital A][sub [ital CP]]([ital KK])=0.024[plus minus]0.084. The data were accumulated by the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687.

Abstract: An experiment has been performed with the Fermilab 30-inch bubble chamber and Downstream Particle Identifier to study inclusive charged pion production in the high energy interactions of π±,K +,p and $$\bar p$$ with thin foils of magnesium, silver and gold. The laboratory rapidity and transverse momentum distributions are presented separately for π+ and π− production. Comparisons are made with data from hadron-proton interactions and theA dependence of the cross sections in the different kinematic regions is discussed. We investigate the dependence of the cross sections on the number of observed protons ejected from the nucleus. By using our π− A data from two different beam energies, we study the energy dependence of these spectra. Comparisons are made with the VENUS string model Monte Carlo.

Abstract: Analysis of three D → Kππ Dalitz plots is presented using data collected by the Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687. Our data are fit to a model consisting of a sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes for the intermediate two-body resonant decay modes and a constant term for the nonresonant contribution. We extract branching fractions and relative phases and compare them to the results obtained in other experiments. Although this model qualitatively reproduces many features of our data, statistically significant discrepancies are observed in some of our fits.

Abstract: The fermilab high-energy photoproduction experiment E687 provides a sample of approximately 90 events of the decay mode D+s→ φμ+ ν. The ratios of the form factors governing the decay are measured to be Rv=1.8±0.9±0.2 and R2= 1.1±0.8±0.1, implying a polarization of Г 1 /Г t = 1.0±0.5±0.1 for the electron decay, consistent with our measurement of the form factor for the decay D + → K ∗0 μ + ν .

Abstract: We report the first observation (103±17 events) of the decay Λ+c → Σ−π+π+ and the charge conjugate. A measurement of the relative branching ratio Г (Λ + c → Σ − π + π + )/Г (Λ + c → Σ + π + π + π − = 0.53±0.15 (stat) ± 0.07 (sys) is also presented.

Abstract: We report precise measurements of the D 0 and D + meson lifetimes by the E687 Collaboration at Fermilab. The measurements have been made using 16000 fully reconstructed decays of the D 0 into the K − π + and K − π + π − π + final states and 9000 decays of the D + into the K − π + π + final state. The lifetimes of the D 0 and D + mesons are measured to be 0.413±0.004±0.003 ps and 1.048±0.015±01011 ps respectively.

Abstract: An observation of an excited ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+\mathrm{*}}$ baryon decaying to ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, with ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{pK}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$, is presented. We reconstruct 39.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}8.7${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+\mathrm{*}}$ baryons with a mass of 340.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.3 MeV/${\mathit{c}}^{2}$ above the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$ mass. The upper limit on the resonant branching ratio is B(${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+\mathrm{*}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{\mathit{c}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$)/B(${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+\mathrm{*}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$ ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$)36% at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the relative branching ratio of two Cabibbo-suppressed decay modes: D 0 → π − π + and D 0 → K − K + . The data were accumulated in the 1990–1991 fixed target run of Fermilab high energy photoproduction experiment E687. The branching ratios of these modes relative to the Cabibbo-allowed decay D 0 → K − π + are also presented. The relative branching ratios are measured to be Γ ( D 0 → KK )/ Γ ( D 0 → ππ ) = 2.53 ± 0.46 ± 0.19, Γ ( D 0 → KK )/ Γ ( D 0 → Kπ ) = 0.109 ± 0.007 ± 0.009, and Γ ( D 0 → ππ )/ Γ ( D 0 → Kπ ) = 0.043 ± 0.007 ± 0.003.

Abstract: The ratio of the cross section for $p\bar{p}$ interactions producing a $Z$ boson and at least one $b$ quark jet to the inclusive $Z+{\rm jet}$ cross section is measured using $4.2\ {\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $p\bar{p}$ collisions collected with the \dzero\ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV. The $Z\rightarrow\ell^+\ell^-$ candidate events with at least one $b$ jet are discriminated from $Z+$ charm and light jet(s) events by a novel technique that exploits the properties of the tracks associated to the jet. The measured ratio is $0.0193\pm0.0027$ for events having a jet with transverse momentum $\pt > 20 \GeV$ and pseudorapidity $|\eta| \leq 2.5$, which is the most precise to date and is consistent with theoretical predictions.

Abstract: We report evidence for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay of the charm baryon Λ c + into the final state pK − K + . The analysis is performed on data collected by high energy photoproduction experiment E687 during the 1990–1991 Fermilab fixed target run. The branching ratio of the decay Λ c + → pK − K + relative to the non-suppressed Λ c + → pK − π + is measured to be BR( pK − K + / pK − π + ) = 0.096 ± 0.029 ± 0.010. The upper limit of the decay into po relative to the inclusive pK − K + decay is measured to be BR( po / pK − K +

Abstract: We report a measurement of the semimuonic decay D0→K−μ+ν from data taken during the 1987–1988 fixed target run at Fermilab by the E687 Collaboration. We obtain Γ(D0→K−μ+ν)/Γ(D0→K−π+)=0.82±0.13±0.13 and use this result to calculate Γ(D 0 →K ∗− μ + ν)/Γ(D 0 →K − μ + ν)=0.59±0.10±0.13 .

Abstract: A precise measurement of the [ital D][sub [ital s]][sup [plus minus]] meson lifetime is reported. The data were accumulated by the high energy photoproduction experiment E687 at Fermilab in the 1990--1991 fixed target run. The measurement has been done using 900 fully reconstructed [ital D][sub [ital s]][sup [plus minus]][r arrow][phi][pi][sup [plus minus]] decays. The lifetime of the [ital D][sub [ital s]][sup [plus minus]] meson is measured to be 0.475[plus minus]0.020[plus minus]0.007 ps.

Abstract: Fermilab high-energy photoproduction experiment E687 measures a branching ratio of Γ ( D S + → φμ + ν ) / Γ ( D S + → φμ + ) = 0.58 ± 0.17 (stat) ± 0.07 (sys). This branching ratio is combined with theoretical inputs to obtain a new measurement of the D S + absolute branching ratio of Γ ( D S + → φμ + ) / Γ ( D S + → all) = 0.031 ± 0.009 (stat 0.005 (sys) ± 0.004 (theoretical).

Abstract: Trackers based on scintillating-fiber technology are being considered by the Solenoidal Detector Collaboration at SSC and the DO collaboration at Fermilab. Some 600 fibers in the Fermilab Tevatron CO area were irradiated, thereby obtaining a hadronic irradiation at realistic rates. Four-meter-long samples of ten Bicron polystyrene-based fibre types, maintained in air, dry nitrogen, argon, and vacuum atmospheres within stainless-steel tubes, were irradiated for seven weeks at various distances from the accelerator beam pipes. Maximum doses, measured by thermoluminescence detectors, were about 80 krad. Fiber properties, particularly light yield and attenuation length, were measured over a one-year period. A description of the work together with the results is presented. At the doses achieved, corresponding to a few years of actual fiber-tracking detector operation, little degradation was observed. Recovery after several days' exposure to air was noted. Properties of unirradiated samples kept in darkness show no changes after one year. >
