The article examines the impact of dialogue meetings on victims and offenders. It offers information on the participating victim-offender mediation (VOM) and victim-offender dialogue (VOD) programs in Texas and Ohio. It stresses the importance of considering the time lapse between the crime and the VOD as well as the participants' reasons to meet. It notes that the strong report of positive impact on the lives of both the family members and the offenders of dialogue meetings suggests that such encounters may be appropriate and fruitful for both parties.

The article presents a study on the increasing number of jurisdictions that spread victims of severe violence in the U.S. The study is conducted with the programs that mediate dialogue participants in the context of severely violent crime in the first two U.S. states in Texas and Ohio. The author uses studies from 5 countries, including the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain, to draw conclusions on different forms of restorative justice conferencing, such as victim offender mediation and family group conferencing. These are assessed based on satisfaction, fairness, restitution, diversion, recidivism, and costs. Meta-analysis is addressed, as are ongoing issues within restorative justice conferencing.

A context for understanding, selecting, and creating experiential techniques in family therapy is offered. Following a brief discussion of the definition and scope of experiential techniques, the theory behind family therapy goals and strategies and the functioning of experiential techniques in family therapy are explored.
