Potlatch é o título do boletim de informação da Internacional Letrista, que circulou, a partir de Paris, seu centro de produção, entre 1954 e 1957. A I.L., tendo se formado enquanto ruptura de uma vanguarda artística (o letrismo de Isidore Isou), propõe em seu pequeno veículo práticas, formulações teóricas e críticas que darão mais tarde base à organização da Internacional Situacionista. Este artigo faz a análise deste material, buscando compreender a originalidade de seu posicionamento crítico em relação à arte, ao espaço urbano e a vida cotidiana, bem como do conteúdo político de suas ações e experimentações, direcionadas, antes de tudo, a explorar as possibilidades de superação das relações sociais de produção capitalistas.

Aims To investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of an invasive and Hp65-producing strain Lactococcus lactis NCDO2118 FnBPA+ (pXYCYT:Hsp65) in acute 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis in mice as an innovative therapeutic strategy against Crohn's disease (CD). Methods and results The pXYCYT:Hsp65 plasmid was transformed into the L. lactis NCDO2118 FnBPA+ strain, resulting in the L. lactis NCDO2118 FnBPA+ (pXYCYT:Hsp65) strain. Then, the functionality of the strain was evaluated in vitro for Hsp65 production by Western blotting and for invasion into Caco-2 cells. The results demonstrated that the strain was able to produce Hsp65 and efficiently invade eukaryotic cells. Subsequently, in vivo, the anti-inflammatory capacity of the recombinant strain was evaluated in colitis induced with TNBS in BALB/c mice. Oral administration of the recombinant strain was able to attenuated the severity of colitis by mainly reducing IL-12 and IL-17 levels and increasing IL-10 and secretory immunoglobulin A levels. Conclusions The L. lactis NCDO2118 FnBPA+ (pXYCYT:Hsp65) strain contributed to a reduction in inflammatory damage in experimental CD. Significance and impact of the study This study, which used L. lactis for the production and delivery of Hsp65, has scientific relevance because it shows the efficacy of this new strategy based on therapeutic protein delivery into mammalian enterocytes.

Sampling protocols for detecting Salmonella on poultry differ among various countries. In the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service dictates that whole broiler carcasses should be rinsed with 400 ml of 1% buffered peptone water, whereas in the European Union 25-g samples composed of neck skin from three carcasses are evaluated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a whole carcass rinse (WCR) and a neck skin excision (NS) procedure for Salmonella and Escherichia coli isolation from the same broiler carcass. In this study, Lactococcus lactis was engineered to express mutated internalin A on its surface and to secrete large amounts of listeriolysin O (LLO) in order to improve its potential as a vehicle for DNA vaccination. Western blotting experiments demonstrated that the bacterium expressed LLO in both the cytoplasmic and extracellular compartments, with higher quantities found in the culture supernatants. A hemolytic assay showed that the recombinant strain secreted 250 ng active LLO/mg total protein. We describe a patient who was evaluated because of delayed development. The patient had microcephaly and cafe-au-lait spots and the facial features included upward slanting of the palpebral fissures, short nasal bridge and a highly arched palate. In addition the external ears had bilateral over folded helices, there was clinodactyly of the fourth and fifth fingers and multiple cafe-au-lait spots on the back, buttocks and thighs. Chromosomal analysis of peripheral blood showed 46,XY,-r(12)(p13.3q24.33)[73]/45,XY,-12[8]/47,XY,r(12)(p13.3q24.33),+r(12)(p13.3q24.33)[2]. This is the eighth case of a patient with a ring chromosome 12 to be reported so far. The similarity of our patient to those previously described suggests that the ring chromosome 12 syndrome can be delineated as a distinct entity with characteristic clinical features.
