Potential trace elements pollution in cities poses a threat to the environment and human health. Bio-availability affects toxicity levels of potential trace elementss on organisms. This study focused on exploring the relationship between soil, plant, and atmospheric dust pollution in Urumqi, a typical city in western China. It aims to help reduce pollution and protect residents' health. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) potential trace elementss like Cr, Pb, As, and Ni are more prevalent in atmospheric dust and soil than in plants. Chromium was in the first group, Cadmium and Mercury were in the second, and Plumb, Arsenic, and Nickel were in the third. Atmospheric dust and soil exhibit a significantly higher heavy metal content than plants. For example, The atmospheric dust summary Chromium content was up to 88 mg/kg. 2) Soil, atmospheric dust, and plants have the highest amount of residual form. Residual form had the highest percentage average of 53.3%, whereas Organic matter bound form had the lowest percentage of just 7.7%. The plants contained less residual heavy metal than the soil and atmospheric dust. 3) The correlation coefficient between the carbonated form content of Cd of soil and atmospheric dust is 0.95, which is closely related. Other potential trace elements show similar correlations in their bio-available contents in soil, plants, and atmospheric dust. This study suggests that in urban area, the focus should be on converting potential trace elements into residual form instead of increasing plants' absorption of potential trace elements. NOVELTY STATEMENT: The current research in China primarily examines heavy metal pollution in the atmosphere, soil, and plants individually. Although there is significant international research on heavy metal bio-availability in the environment, few studies have focused on the presence of heavy metals in soil, vegetation, and atmospheric dust. Therefore, this study focused on Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, a typical oasis city in the arid region. To understand the bio-availability and morphological characteristics of heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, As, Ni) in the soil-plant-atmosphere of its urban expressway. This study aims to establish a theoretical basis for understanding the pollution hazards caused by heavy metals in oasis cities. Urumqi is located in the arid region of northwestern China, known for being one of the most delicate ecological environments and an area susceptible to climate change. The urbanization of Urumqi has progressed rapidly, yet there is a lack of research on the urbanization effect (UE) in Urumqi in terms of the regional climate. This study investigates the UE of Urumqi (urban built-up area) on the regional thermal environment and its mechanisms for the first time, based on the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model (combined with the Urban Canopy Model, UCM) simulation data of 10 consecutive years (2012–2021). The results show that the UE on surface temperature (Ts) and air temperature at 2 m (T2m) is strong (weak) during the night (daytime) in all seasons, and the UE on these is largest (smallest) in spring (winter). In addition, the maximum UE on both Ts and T2m is present over southern Urumqi in winter, whereas the maximum UE is identified over the northern Urumqi in other seasons. The maximum UE on Ts occurred in northwestern Urumqi at 18 LST (Local Standard Time, i.e., UTC+6) in autumn (reaching 5.2 °C), and the maximum UE on T2m occurred in northern Urumqi at 4 LST in summer (reaching 2.6 °C). Urbanization showed a weak cooling effect during daytime in summer and winter, reflecting the unique characteristics of the UE in arid regions, which are different from those in humid regions. The maximum cooling of Ts occurred in northern Urumqi at 11 LST in summer (reaching −0.4 °C), while that of T2m occurred at 10 LST in northern and northwestern Urumqi in winter (reaching −0.25 °C), and the cooling effect lasted for a longer period of time in summer than in winter. The UE of Urumqi causes the increase of Ts mainly through the influence of net short-wave radiation and geothermal flux and causes the increase of T2m through the influence of sensible heat flux and net long-wave radiation. The UE on the land surface energy balance in Urumqi can be used to explain the seasonal variation and spatial differences of the UEs on the regional thermal environment and the underlying mechanism. The concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, O3 and NO2 in Urumqi People's Park were monitored by mobile monitoring in July and October 2023, and the temporal and spatial changes of pollutant concentrations in urban parks and their influencing factors were analyzed. The results show that park can effectively reduce PM and NO2 concentration, increase O3 concentration. PM concentration in the park was higher in the morning than the noon. O3 and NO2 concentration is lower in the morning than the noon. The concentration within the park was lower than that outside the park. The mitigative effect of pollutants in the park was better in summer than in autumn. The concentration of PM in the park showed a high value aggregation, and PM2.5 and PM10 showed the same spatial distribution in the high value cluster, and the pollution of both showed homology in summer. O3 and NO2 concentrations tend to accumulate at low value cluster. Pollutants are affected by the local environment. PM2.5 concentration is greatly affected by wind speed and distance from water, O3 concentration is greatly affected by temperature and average distance from road. The closer to the road, the higher the concentration of NO2. Attention should be paid to the landscape design of the buffer zone of 30–50 m with the high pollution area. This study can provide reference for park planning and design.

Dry and hot Foehn wind weather often occurs in Urumqi, China, due to its canyon terrain. This directly impacts the lives and health of local people. Using surface meteorological variables (including the hourly wind, temperature, humidity, and pressure) measured in situ at the Urumqi Meteorological Station and ERA5 reanalysis from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts in the past 15 years (2008–2022), the characteristics of Foehn wind and their relationship with EI Niño and extreme high-temperature events in Urumqi are analyzed. The results show that the annual distributions of Foehn wind present a fluctuating pattern, and the highest frequency occurred in 2015. Compared to the summer (July) and winter (February) seasons, Foehn wind occurs most frequently in spring (March, April, May) and autumn (September, October, and November). Daily variations in Foehn wind occur most frequently from 9:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. In particular, high levels are found at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in April and May. In 2011, 2012, and 2014, the average wind speed of FW exceeded 6 m/s, and the lowest average wind speed was 3.8 m/s in 2021. The temperature and relative humidity changes (ΔT and ΔRH) caused by Foehn wind are the most significant in winter and when Foehn wind begins to occur. The high-temperature hours related to Foehn wind weather in Urumqi represented 25% of the total in the past 15 years. During the EI Niño period, the amount of Foehn wind in Urumqi significantly increased; The correlation coefficient beteewn slide anomaly of Foehn days and the Oceanic Niño Index is as high as 0.71. This study aims to analyze the drug resistance spectrum, genetic diversity, and transmission dynamics to provide a basis for the prevention and control of drug-resistant (DR) tuberculosis (TB) epidemics. Methods: This retrospective study is based on routine national drug resistance surveillance. The demographic, epidemiological, and clinical information on DR-TB patients from 2016 to 2021 was collected and used for phenotypic drug susceptibility testing and whole-genome sequencing. Results: It was indicated that L2.2.1 was the dominant lineage in Urumqi. The drug resistance spectrum in Urumqi was narrow, which means more drug combinations can be used for clinical treatment. Furthermore, mutations identification of drug-resistance gene katG, rpoB, embA/B, rrs, rpsL, eis, gyrA/B, folC and tryA are important for clinical drug use. However, mutations in cross-resistance genes rrs have limited guidance for clinical selection of KM, CPM and AK. Moreover, there is an increased risk of cluster transmission of DR-TB, and the difference in clustering rate among L2, L3, and L4 was not statistically significant (χ2 = 2.6410, p = 0.2670). Conclusion: In the Urumqi, DR-TB has a complex prevalence state, a narrow drug resistance spectrum, and a high clustering rate and burden of drug resistance. In order to better understand the thermal comfort of urban parks and provide empirical reference for urban green space optimization design, 5 days' field monitoring was conducted in People's Park in Urumqi, an oasis city in an arid region of China. Combined with GIS spatial interpolation, correlation analysis, and regression analysis, the spatial and temporal distribution of thermal comfort (HI and WBGT) of urban parks was discussed. The results showed the following. (1) The thermal comfort in the morning was generally higher than that in the afternoon, and the thermal comfort near the water body and lush vegetation in the park was higher, while the thermal comfort on the road was lower, especially on Hotan Street and Binhenan Road, which were far away from the park. Therefore, it is recommended that nearby residents exercise outdoors in the morning as much as possible and in the park, and in the afternoon, keep to the park and its vicinity and try to sit quietly or walk slowly, avoiding the less comfortable areas, such as Hotan Road and Binhenan Road. (2) Due to dense vegetation and lack of infrastructure construction, the thermal comfort area does not have the conditions for crowd gathering. Therefore, it is recommended that the park improve the infrastructure of relevant areas. (3) Through the analysis of the significant influence of explanatory variables on the explained variables, it shows that the ventilation effect in the park is insufficient. Therefore, it is recommended to appropriately increase the number of trees, water bodies, and wind channels to promote ventilation in the park so as to improve the thermal comfort of the park. These findings provide a theoretical basis and technical reference for optimizing the thermal comfort of urban green space and establishing a healthier and more comfortable living environment for urban residents. The exposure of Artemisia pollen in the air to humans causes adverse allergenic effects on the respiratory system. However, the relationship between Artemisia pollen counts and meteorological and air quality factors in the arid and semiarid cities of northwest China has not attracted significant attention. Here, we observed the seasonal pollen counts of Artemisia, as well as the main meteorological variables (temperature/T, relative humidity/RH, and wind speed/WS, and ambient air quality factors (PM2.5, PM10, and CO2). This was conducted from May to September 2021 at three sampling sites in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The results showed that Artemisia pollen counts gradually increased from May (121 grains/1000 mm2) to August (563 grains/1000 mm2) and decreased till the end of the sampling period in September (247 grains/1000 mm2). Increases in urban temperature affect the urban ecological environment and human health and well-being. In urban morphology, building characteristics are important factors affecting the land surface temperature (LST). Contemporary research focuses mainly on the effects of land use, urban tissue configuration, and street networks on the LST, and the effects of building characteristics on the LST need to be further understood. The mean LST and the urban morphology indicators of a single grid were calculated via a remote sensing inversion and a spatial analysis, and a geographically weighted regression (GWR) model was established to explore the influence of the building coverage ratio (BCR), mean building height (BH_mean), floor area ratio (FAR), and mean sky view factor (SVF_mean) on the LST. The results show that the correlations between the urban morphology indicators and the LST at a scale of 100~500 m are of different degrees, and the correlations are more significant at a scale of 200 m. Therefore, the optimal spatial scale for studying the influence of urban morphology indicators on the LST is 200 m. The fitting effect of the GWR model is significantly better than that of the ordinary least squares (OLS) method, and the effects of each indicator on the thermal environment have spatial non-stationarity. The BCR, BH_mean, FAR, and SVF_mean differ in their ability to raise and lower the temperature in different spatial zones, and the order of influence is as follows: BCR > SVF_mean > FAR > BH_mean. Urumqi City, located in the northwest of China, is a city with a high indoor radon concentration in a nationwide indoor radon survey in China. This study focuses on the assessment of the indoor radon level and its distribution in this city. Indoor radon measurement using RAD7 and solid nuclear track detector (SSNTD), soil gas radon measured by RAD7, and the determination of the specific activity of uranium and radium in soil samples by a high pure germanium spectrometer were performed from 2021 to 2023. The results reveal a wide range of indoor radon concentrations in Urumqi, with anomalies above 400 Bq/m3 in some dwellings. The arithmetical and geometric mean values of indoor radon concentration are 80 ± 77 Bq/m3 and 58 Bq/m3, respectively. The geometric mean value of radon measured by SSNTD is 101 Bq/m3. The distribution of areas with a high indoor radon concentration is spatially consistent with deep and large active faults or overlapping and intersection zones of multiple groups of faults. Abstract Background Sleep disorders refer to physiological and psychological states that cause adverse consequences due to the inability to fall asleep or poor sleep quality. The prevalence of sleep disorders varies greatly in different countries and regions due to different causes. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of sleep disorders among preschool children in Urumqi city, China. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with stratified random cluster sampling. Children aged 3–6 years old in one kindergarten randomly selected from each of the 8 districts of Urumqi from March to July 2022, and their parents were surveyed with a sleep quality questionnaire. Results The prevalence of sleep disorders among preschool children in Urumqi was 14.29% (191/1336), and the prevalence of different symptoms was 42.81% for limb movements, 19.61% for snoring, 18.11% for bruxism, 16.39% for sleep talking, 12.57% for sweating, 11.60% for nocturnal awakening, 8.46% for nightmares, 6.89% for bed wetting, 3.74% for apnea, and 3.29% for sleepwalking. The difference in ozone (O3) concentration between stations in the urban and southern mountainous areas of Urumqi was explored based on mathematical statistics and comparative analysis of pollutant concentrations. Besides, potential source contribution function (PSCF) analysis and concentration weighted trajectory (CWT) analysis were performed to identify the potential sources of PM2.5 and O3. The results showed that the daily and monthly mean O3 concentrations in the urban area of Urumqi showed a bimodal variation from October 2017 to August 2018, and the O3 concentration had obvious seasonal characteristics, with the highest in July (120.57 μg/m3) and the lowest in January (22.38 μg/m3). The overall variation of O3 concentration in the mountainous area in the southern suburb of Urumqi was not significant (56.69–84.06 μg/m3), and the O3 concentration was slightly higher in summer than in other seasons. The daily O3 concentration in the urban area showed a unimodal variation in all seasons, and the daily variation was the smallest in winter and the largest in summer. However, the daily variation in the mountainous area was not significant. The O3 concentration in the urban area showed a significant negative weekend effect in winter and a positive weekend effect in spring and summer. However, the O3 concentration only showed a significant positive weekend effect in the mountainous area in summer. The PSCF and CWT analysis results of urban O3 concentration showed that Urumqi, Shihezi, and Wusu were the main O3 source areas. To investigate the effect of fertilization on Pb content in vegetables, pepper was planted in L1645 (the 5 influencing factors are fertilizers (N, P, K), organic fertilizers (sheep manure) and Pb2+; the 4 levels are blank, low, medium and high; a total of 16 treatments) pot orthogonal experiment. The effects of fertilizers on the growth and Pb content in various parts of pepper under Pb stress were analyzed. The results showed that: (1) The Pb content in pepper fruit ranged from 0.011 mg·kg−1 to 0.085 mg·kg−1, which did not exceed the limit value (0.1 mg·kg−1) in the National Standard for Food Safety-Limit of Contaminants in Food (GB2762-2017); (2) The effect order of fertilization on pepper fruit weight was P2O5 > sheep manure > N > K2O; The horizontal combination of factors that promoted the maximum fruit weight of pepper was N (0.15 g·kg−1), P2O5 (0.225 g·kg−1), K2O (0.15 g·kg−1) and sheep manure (9 g·kg−1); (3) The order of fertilizer effects on Pb content in pepper fruit was Pb2+ > K2O > N = sheep manure > P2O5; the factor level combination that resulted in the maximum Pb content in pepper fruits was N (0.15 g·kg−1), P2O5 (0 g·kg−1), K2O (0.45 g·kg−1), sheep manure (6 g·kg−1) and Pb2+ (350 mg·kg−1); (4) Based on the soil fertility characteristics of Urumqi, the recommended optimal fertilizer application rate was: high phosphorus fertilizer P2O5 (495 kg·hm−2), low-level potassium fertilizer K2O (330 kg·hm−2), medium-level nitrogen fertilizer N (660 kg·hm−2) (or low-level nitrogen fertilizer N (330 kg·hm−2) + high-level organic manure sheep manure (19,800 kg·hm−2), which can achieve high yield while ensuring that the Pb content in the fruits does not exceed the standard. AIM: To investigate the differences of myopia and ocular biological parameters of primary and middle school students in Urumqi.METHODS: A cross-sectional survey. A total of 2 495 primary and middle school students aged 7 to 18 from 4 schools in Urumqi were selected by judgemental sampling from September 2021 to November 2021 for relevant eye examination. The differences of ocular biological parameters and refractive status of students of different ages, genders and nationalities were compared, and the correlation between spherical equivalent(SE)and ocular biological parameters was analyzed.RESULTS: The detection rate of poor vision among the students was 80.36%, the detection rate of myopia was 55.91%, and the detection rate of astigmatism was 42.96%, among which the detection rate of low myopia was 63.80%, the detection rate of moderate myopia was 27.60%, and the detection rate of high myopia was 8.60%. Many factors affect the prevalence of sleep disorders in preschool children, but it is necessary to focus on the ability to adapt to new environments, psychological problems, and the impact of family education on sleep disorders. As a key node city of the "Silk Road Economic Belt" Urumqi has been listed as one of the ten most polluted cities in the world, posing a serious threat to the urban environment and residents' health. This study analyzed the air quality before and during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic and its potential health effects based on the data of PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, CO, and O3_8h levels from 10 air quality monitoring stations in Urumqi from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2021. As per the results, the concentrations of the air pollutants PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, CO, and O3_8h in Urumqi from 2017 to 2021 showed a cyclical trend, and the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures could effectively reduce the concentration(ρ) of air pollutants. The mean value of ρ(PM2.5) decreased from 2017 to 2021, whereas ρ(O3_8h) showed a waveform change trend (increased in 2017–2018, decreased in 2018–2020, and increased after 2020). Meanwhile, the maximum annual average values of ρ(PM2.5) and ρ(O3_8h) for the six monitoring stations during 2017–2021 occurred at sites S2 (74.37 µg m−3) and S6 (91.80 µg m−3), respectively; rapid industrialization had a greater impact on PM2.5 and O3_8h concentrations compared to commercial and residential areas. In addition, the air quality index data series can characterize the fluctuation trend of PM2.5. The high pollution levels (Class IV and V) of the air pollutants PM2.5 and O3_8h in Urumqi have been decreasing annually, and good days can account for 80–95% of the total number of days in the year, indicating that the number of days with a potential threat to residents' health is gradually decreasing. Therefore, it is recommended that nearby residents exercise outdoors in the morning as much as possible and in the park, and in the afternoon, keep to the park and its vicinity and try to sit quietly or walk slowly, avoiding the less comfortable areas, such as Hotan Road and Binhenan Road. (2) Due to dense vegetation and lack of infrastructure construction, the thermal comfort area does not have the conditions for crowd gathering. Therefore, it is recommended that the park improve the infrastructure of relevant areas. (3) Through the analysis of the significant influence of explanatory variables on the explained variables, it shows that the ventilation effect in the park is insufficient. Therefore, it is recommended to appropriately increase the number of trees, water bodies, and wind channels to promote ventilation in the park so as to improve the thermal comfort of the park. These findings provide a theoretical basis and technical reference for optimizing the thermal comfort of urban green space and establishing a healthier and more comfortable living environment for urban residents.

[Objective] The heavy metal pollution of expressway roadside greening tree species in Urumqi was studied, and the restoration potential of different tree species was evaluated, and the urban expressway environment was preliminarily evaluated, which provided scientific basis for the healthy management of greening tree species and the optimization of urban road greening scheme in Urumqi. [Method] Samples were digested by HNO3-HClO4 (4∶1) digestion method.The samples were digested by HF-HClO4 (1∶1) digestion method.The contents of heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni) in various parts of greening trees were determined by ICP-OES, and the enrichment ability of the study area was comprehensively evaluated by the membership function method. [Result] The concentrations of Zn and Cd among the four greening tree species were the highest and the lowest.Heavy metal elements were mainly distributed in bark and root, but the concentrations in leaf were low.The enrichment coefficient of each part was bark ＞ root ＞ branch ＞ leaf, among which the enrichment coefficients of Cu in bark and root of Fraxinus rhynchophylla were 1.897 and 1.068, respectively, showing high enrichment characteristics.The transport coefficients of Cr, Cu and Pb in North American Begonia were higher than those of other tree species.Ulmus pumila L.had the strongest transport capacity for Zn, while Populus alba var.pyramidalis had the strongest transport capacity for Cd.The rhizosphere soil of North American Begonia was slightly polluted, the rhizosphere soil of U.pumila L.and F.rhynchophylla was moderately polluted, the rhizosphere soil of P.alba var.pyramidalis was heavily polluted.All the six heavy metals showed different degrees of pollution, and their contents were higher than the background values, Cd was the most polluted.And the variation coefficients of Pb and Cd were 11.44% and 12.50%, respectively, which indicated that the distribution of Pb and Cd in the whole study area was quite different. [Conclusion] There are obvious differences in the distribution of heavy metals in green tree species and different parts.North American Begonia had the strongest comprehensive enrichment ability, so it can be used as the preferred tree species for remediation of heavy metal pollution in soil in the study area.On the whole, the heavy metals in the roadside soil were moderately polluted (P=2.20) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Park visits are beneficial for people's physical and psychological health, as well as for the development of social relationships. This study investigated the degree of recovery of physical, psychological, and social aspects of residents in different types of parks and the influence of socio-demographic factors, personal factors, residential space attributes, and park characteristics on park visitation. The results show that tourists visiting urban parks have higher physiological and social recovery than those visiting suburban parks and that there are significant differences. Physical exercise, rest and relaxation, and spending time with family and children were the three most prevalent factors influencing park visits, while time constraints were the most important reason why residents failed to use parks. Socio demographics, residential spatial attributes, individual variables, and park characteristics explained 13.6%, 16.7%, 4.6%, and 2.9% of the total variance in park visit frequency, respectively. Residential green space, age, children under age seven, time spent in residential green space, willingness to spend time in nature, greenery, maintenance, and amenities were positively associated with park use. Income, education, home price, and distance from home to the park were negatively associated with park use. These findings have implications for park management and for future research. Urumqi City, located in the northwest of China, is a city with a high indoor radon concentration in a nationwide indoor radon survey in China. This study focuses on the assessment of the indoor radon level and its distribution in this city. Indoor radon measurement using RAD7 and solid nuclear track detector (SSNTD), soil gas radon measured by RAD7, and the determination of the specific activity of uranium and radium in soil samples by a high pure germanium spectrometer were performed from 2021 to 2023. The results reveal a wide range of indoor radon concentrations in Urumqi, with anomalies above 400 Bq/m3 in some dwellings. The arithmetical and geometric mean values of indoor radon concentration are 80 ± 77 Bq/m3 and 58 Bq/m3, respectively. The geometric mean value of radon measured by SSNTD is 101 Bq/m3. The distribution of areas with a high indoor radon concentration is spatially consistent with deep and large active faults or overlapping and intersection zones of multiple groups of faults. It is recommended to conduct a more comprehensive investigation and research into the elevated radon potential and radioactivity associated with building materials.

Automatic determination of quantitative parameters describing the pattern of urban expansion is extremely important for urban planning, urban management and civic resource configuration. Though the widely adopted LEI (landscape expansion index) has exhibited the potential to capture the evolution of urban landscape patterns using multi-temporal remote sensing data, erroneous determination still exists, especially for patches with special shapes due to the limited consideration of spatial relationships among patches. In this paper, we improve the identification of urban landscape expansion patterns with an enhancement of the topological relationship. We propose MCI (Mean patch Compactness Index) and AWCI (Area-Weighted Compactness Index) in terms of the moment of inertia shape index. The effectiveness of the improved approach in identifying types of expansion patches is theoretically demonstrated with a series of designed experiments. Further, we apply the proposed approaches to the analysis of urban expansion features and dynamics of urban compactness over Urumqi at various 5-year stages using available SUBAD-China data from 1990–2015. The results achieved by the theoretical experiments and case application show our approach effectively suppressed the effects induced by shapes of patches and buffer or envelope box parameters for the accurate identification of patch type. Moreover, the modified MCI and AWCI exhibited an improved potential in capturing the landscape scale compactness of urban dynamics. The investigated 25-year urban expansion of Urumqi is dominated by edge-expansion patches and supplemented by outlying growth, with opposite trends of increasing and decreasing, with a gradual decrease in landscape fragmentation. Our examination using the proposed MCI and AWCI indicates Urumqi was growing more compact in latter 15-year period compared with the first 10 years studied, with the primary urban patches tending to be compacted earlier than the entire urban setting. The historical transformation trajectories based on remote sensing data show a significant construction land gain—from 1.06% in 1990 to 6.96% in 2015—due to 289.16 km2 of recently established construction, accompanied by fast expansion northward, less dynamic expansion southward, and earlier extension in the westward direction than eastward. Global climate change is becoming increasingly crucial. With the continuous strengthening of environmental supervision and governance in China, the haze （O 3 ） weather mainly caused by PM 2.5 pollution has gradually improved, while the emissions of invisible ozone pollutants have been increasing annually. In particular, the problem of near-ground ozone pollution is more crucial, which poses a severe threat to urban production, life, and health of people. To gain a deeper understanding of the pollution characteristics of ozone, this study was conducted based on ozone monitoring, ground meteorological, and global data assimilation system （GDAS） meteorological data from January 2020 to February 2023 in Tianshan District, Urumqi City, to explore the characteristics of ozone mass concentration changes and potential source areas in Urumqi City at different time scales using the cluster analysis of the backward trajectory model （HYSPLIT） and trajectory （Tianshan District） and the concentration weight trajectory analyses （CWT）. The results showed that： ① The maximum 8-hour O 3 （O 3-8h ） mass concentration in Tianshan District of Urumqi City had been increasing yearly from 2020 to 2022 and had obvious seasonal variation characteristics, with summer （110.33 μg·m -3 ） &gt; spring （87.67 μg·m -3 ） &gt; autumn （64.33 μg·m -3 ） &gt; winter （39.67 μg·m -3 ）. ② The temperature, relative humidity, and air pressure of each season had a significant impact on O 3-8h mass concentration, with correlation coefficients r of 0.871,-0.752, and 0.644 （ P &lt; 0.01）, respectively. The annual wind speed variation was relatively low, which was a secondary meteorological factor and had no significant impact on ozone mass concentration. ③ The HYSPLIT clustering analysis results showed that overseas long-distance transportation had less impact on the O 3-8h mass concentration in Tianshan District, Urumqi City. The CWT results indicated that ozone pollution sources were mainly concentrated in the northern area of Urumqi in Xinjiang and the high-value areas in summer [O 3-8h mass concentration &gt; 70 μg·m -3 ] mainly appeared in areas with higher temperatures in Urumqi, Changji, Altay, and Tacheng. ④ Especially in autumn, the pollutants emitted by local anthropogenic activities had a great influence. To summarize, spatiotemporal concentration changes were observed in ozone pollution in Urumqi and the prevention and control of urban ozone pollution in Urumqi requires strengthening the emission of ozone precursors while considering implementing coordinated emission reduction measures for surrounding areas.

The difference in ozone (O3) concentration between stations in the urban and southern mountainous areas of Urumqi was explored based on mathematical statistics and comparative analysis of pollutant concentrations. Besides, potential source contribution function (PSCF) analysis and concentration weighted trajectory (CWT) analysis were performed to identify the potential sources of PM2.5 and O3. The results showed that the daily and monthly mean O3 concentrations in the urban area of Urumqi showed a bimodal variation from October 2017 to August 2018, and the O3 concentration had obvious seasonal characteristics, with the highest in July (120.57 μg/m3) and the lowest in January (22.38 μg/m3). The overall variation of O3 concentration in the mountainous area in the southern suburb of Urumqi was not significant (56.69–84.06 μg/m3), and the O3 concentration was slightly higher in summer than in other seasons. The daily O3 concentration in the urban area showed a unimodal variation in all seasons, and the daily variation was the smallest in winter and the largest in summer. However, the daily variation in the mountainous area was not significant. The O3 concentration in the urban area showed a significant negative weekend effect in winter and a positive weekend effect in spring and summer. However, the O3 concentration only showed a significant positive weekend effect in the mountainous area in summer. The PSCF and CWT analysis results of urban O3 concentration showed that Urumqi, Shihezi, and Wusu were the main O3 source areas. In addition, some areas bordering Kazakhstan in Xinjiang, China were also important source areas.

To investigate the effect of fertilization on Pb content in vegetables, pepper was planted in L1645 (the 5 influencing factors are fertilizers (N, P, K), organic fertilizers (sheep manure) and Pb2+; the 4 levels are blank, low, medium and high; a total of 16 treatments) pot orthogonal experiment. The effects of fertilizers on the growth and Pb content in various parts of pepper under Pb stress were analyzed. The results showed that: (1) The Pb content in pepper fruit ranged from 0.011 mg·kg−1 to 0.085 mg·kg−1, which did not exceed the limit value (0.1 mg·kg−1) in the National Standard for Food Safety-Limit of Contaminants in Food (GB2762-2017); (2) The effect order of fertilization on pepper fruit weight was P2O5 > sheep manure > N > K2O; The horizontal combination of factors that promoted the maximum fruit weight of pepper was N (0.15 g·kg−1), P2O5 (0.225 g·kg−1), K2O (0.15 g·kg−1) and sheep manure (9 g·kg−1); (3) The order of fertilizer effects on Pb content in pepper fruit was Pb2+ > K2O > N = sheep manure > P2O5; the factor level combination that resulted in the maximum Pb content in pepper fruits was N (0.15 g·kg−1), P2O5 (0 g·kg−1), K2O (0.45 g·kg−1), sheep manure (6 g·kg−1) and Pb2+ (350 mg·kg−1); (4) Based on the soil fertility characteristics of Urumqi, the recommended optimal fertilizer application rate was: high phosphorus fertilizer P2O5 (495 kg·hm−2), low-level potassium fertilizer K2O (330 kg·hm−2), medium-level nitrogen fertilizer N (660 kg·hm−2) (or low-level nitrogen fertilizer N (330 kg·hm−2) + high-level organic manure sheep manure (19,800 kg·hm−2), which can achieve high yield while ensuring that the Pb content in the fruits does not exceed the standard. Strengthening control of effective and reasonable fertilization methods in Urumqi agricultural land is helpful to reduce the Pb content in vegetables.

As an important node city of "The Belt and Road" strategy, Urumqi has a non-negligible impact on the ecological environment in the process of rapid development. It is of great significance to understand the coupling and coordination between urbanization and the ecological environment for regional sustainable development. However, previous studies on the coupling coordination degree (CCD) model of urbanization and ecological environment are limited, and they ignore the endogenous relationship between the two. Therefore, this study aims to introduce an econometric model, the panel vector autoregression model (PVAR), to further explore the relationship between them and the influencing mechanism. Firstly, urbanization and ecological environment were evaluated objectively by the comprehensive nighttime light index (CNLI) and remote sensing ecological index (RSEI), respectively. Then, the coupling coordination degree of urbanization and the ecological environment were evaluated comprehensively by a typical coupling coordination degree model. Finally, the PVAR model is used to analyze the interaction between the two systems and the mechanism of action. The results showed that: (1) in the recent 25 years, the mean value of RSEI in Urumqi decreased gradually, and the overall ecological environment deteriorated, but the differences among districts and counties were still significant; (2) the urbanization level of Urumqi is on the rise, while UC, DBC(B), and MD have the highest increase in CNLI although they are at a low level; and (3) in the interactive relationship between urbanization and the ecological environment, the development of Urumqi's ecological environment is mainly affected by its development inertia, and the development of urbanization is limited by the ecological environment. This study fills the gap in the study of the interaction mechanism between urbanization and the ecological environment and provides a new perspective for the study of sustainable urban development worldwide. From the two aspects of land quantity and spatial distribution, this article studies the existing problems and ideas for optimizing the supply of medical and health (M&H) land for municipal units to promote an equal supply of urban public services. Method: The existing problems were explored with the help of the kernel density, the spatial gravity model and the buffer zone analysis method, and the key optimization areas of M&H land under the trends of population flow were explored by constructing a suitability evaluation system for the natural, social and ecological elements. Results: The total amount of M&H land in the study area was lower than the standard. The characteristics of land supply that support hospitals and primary medical care are different, which makes it difficult for the population in different regions to obtain services from the two types of medical facilities. The supply of both types of land has room for improvement. Conclusion: The effect of public M&H supply is greatly affected by the factors of land supply, which directly causes the problem of uneven medical services in different regions.
