Abstract

A recent study conducted at Xinjiang Medical University in Urumqi, People's Republic of China, focused on the application value of low-risk human papillomavirus (lrHPV) testing in cervical cancer prevention and treatment in low- and middle-resource areas. The study found that lrHPV positivity significantly increases the risk of high-risk HPV (hrHPV) co-infection, particularly under multiple infections, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive HPV screening in these areas. The research highlights the critical role of different screening settings in cervical cancer prevention and offers insights into optimizing vaccination strategies for effective prevention and treatment in low- and middle-resource areas.
