International audience; Kidney transplant survival is shortened by chronic rejection and side effects of standard immunosuppressive drugs. Cell-based immunotherapy with tolerogenic dendritic cells has long been recognized as a promising approach to reduce general immunosuppression. Published trials report the safety and the absence of therapy-related adverse reactions in patients treated with tolerogenic dendritic cells suffering from several inflammatory diseases. Here, we present the first phase I clinical trial results using human autologous tolerogenic dendritic cells (ATDC) in kidney transplantation. Eight patients received ATDC the day before transplantation in conjunction with standard steroids, mycophenolate mofetil and tacrolimus immunosuppression with an option to taper mycophenolate mofetil. ATDC preparations were manufactured in a Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant facility and fulfilled cell count, viability, purity and identity criteria for release. A control group of nine patients received the same standard immunosuppression, except basiliximab induction replaced ATDC therapy and mycophenolate tapering was not allowed. During the three-year follow-up, no deaths occurred and there was 100% graft survival. No significant increase of adverse events was associated with ATDC infusion. Episodes of rejection were observed in two patients from the ATDC group and one patient from the control group. However, all rejections were successfully treated by glucocorticoids. Mycophenolate was successfully reduced/stopped in five patients from the ATDC group, allowing tacrolimus monotherapy for two of them. Regarding immune monitoring, reduced CD8 T cell activation markers and increased Foxp3 expression were observed in the ATDC group. Thus, our results demonstrate ATDC administration safety in kidney-transplant recipients.

In this paper, we study a paratransit application in which children are transported every day from their homes to their special schools or medical-social establishments. To optimize this transportation system, the establishments collaborate to propose a joint transportation plan. We propose a new algorithm to jointly build vehicle routes that visit several establishments and simultaneously set the establishments’ opening hours. This algorithm combines a large neighborhood search, the resolution of a route-based model, and the progressive shrinkage of the planning window. It is applied to a real case from the area of Lyon in France, including 34 schools and 575 heterogeneous users served by a heterogeneous fleet of reconfigurable vehicles. On average, we show that in addition to the 10% of saving that can be expected by sharing vehicle routes between schools, 7% of additional savings can be achieved by school bell adjustment. This cost saving also decreases average user ride times and the number of vehicles required, creating longer routes that are more attractive for driver services. International audience; This paper presents the construction of a Knowledge Graph (KG) of Educational Resources (ER), where RDF reification is essential. The ERs are described based on the subjects they cover considering their relevance. RDF reification is used to incorporate this subject’s relevance. Multiple reification models with distinct syntax and performance implications for storage and query processing exist. This study aims to experimentally compare four statement-based reification models with four triplestores to determine the most pertinent choice for our KG. We built four versions of the KG. Each version has a distinct reification model, namely standard reification, singleton properties, named graphs, and RDF-star, which were obtained using RML mappings. Each of the four triplestores (Virtuoso, Jena, Oxigraph, and GraphDB) was setup four times (except for Virtuoso, which does not support RDF-star), and seven different SPARQL queries were experimentally evaluated. This study shows that standard reification and named graphs lead to good performance. It also shows that, in the particular context of the used KG, Virtuoso outperforms Jena, GraphDB, and Oxigraph in most queries. The recent specification of RDF-star and SPARQL-star sheds light on statement-level annotations. The empirical study reported in this paper contributes to the efforts towards the efficient usage of RDF reification. In addition, this paper shares the pipeline of the KG con- struction using standard semantic web technologies.

Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is a rare disease characterized by a complex allergic inflam-matory reaction of airways against Aspergillus affecting patients with chronic respiratory diseases (asthma, cystic fibrosis). Exacerbation is often the way to diagnose ABPA and marks its evolution by its recurrent char-acter leading to cortico-requirement or long-term antifungal treatment. Early diagnosis allows treatment of ABPA at an initial stage, preventing recurrence of exacerbations and long-term complications, mainly repre-sented by bronchiectasis. This review of the literature aims to present the current state of the art in terms of diagnosis and treatment of ABPA from a multidisciplinary perspective. As there is no clinical, biological nor radiological specific sign, diagnostic criteria are regularly revised. They are mainly based on the elevation of total and specific IgE against Aspergillus fumigatus and the presence of suggestive CT abnormalities such as mucoid impaction and consolidations. ABPA management includes eviction of mold and pharmacological therapy. Exacerbations are treated in first line with a moderate dose of oral corticosteroids. Azole antifungal agents represent an alternative for the treatment of exacerbations and are the preferential strategy to reduce the future risk of exacerbations and for corticosteroids sparing. Asthma biologics may be of interest; how-ever, their place remains to be determined. Avoiding complications of ABPA while limiting the side effects of systemic drugs remains a major challenge of ABPA management. International audience; Energy autonomous sensors are attracting increasing attention because they have potential to provide monitoring for long-time and continuous measurement in many application areas such as transport and health. Energy harvesting can guarantee energy autonomy also called energy neutrality over long period of time if adequate power management strategies are implemented in sensors. As most of them have to execute multiple time critical tasks which access to shared resources in mutual exclusion, classical scheduling strategies should be revisited to provide efficient energy aware solutions. The ED-H scheduler was proved optimal to guarantee energy neutrality of uniprocessor real-time energy harvesting systems when all the tasks are assumedindependent. In this paper, we propose to refine it and we introduce a new scheduling scheme, namely ED-H/DPCP which is adapted to DPCP, the well-known Dynamic Priority Ceiling Protocol to support resource access control. The paper provides the schedulability analysis attached to ED-H/DPCP. We also discuss the implementation and we present integration of ED-H/DPCP within a cobotic application.

International audience; The invention and approval of innovative anticancer therapies in the last decade have revolutionized oncology treatment. Radiotherapy is one of the three traditional pillars in oncology treatment with surgery and systemic therapies. Some standard-of-care combinations of chemoradiotherapy widened the therapeutic window of radiation, while some other chemotherapies such as gemcitabine caused unacceptable toxicities when combined with radiation in lung cancers. Fast-paced progress are specially focused on immunotherapies, targeted-therapies, anti-angiogenic treatment, DNA repair inhibitors, hormonotherapy and cell cycle inhibitors. New anticancer therapeutic arsenals provided new possibilities of combined oncological treatments. The interactions of the radiotherapy with other systemic treatments, such as non-anticancer immunomodulatory/immunosuppressive medications are sometimes overlooked even though they could offer a real therapeutic benefit. In this review, we summarize the new opportunities and the risks of historical and novel combined therapies with radiation: non-anticancer immunomodulatory/immunosuppressive drugs, systemic reoxygenation, new therapies such as nanoparticles and SMAC mimetics. Key biological mechanisms, pre-clinical and available clinical data will be provided to demonstrate the promising opportunities in the years to come.

International audience; When adopting high-order finite-volume schemes based on MUSCL reconstruction techniques to approximate the weak solutions of hyperbolic systems with source terms, the preservation of the steady states turns out to be very challenging. Indeed, the designed reconstruction must preserve the steady states under consideration in order to get the required well-balancedness property. A priori, to capture such a steady state, one needs to solve some strongly nonlinear equations. Here, in order to preserve the required well-balancedness property to be satisfied by finite volume methods, we design a very easy correction. This correction can be applied to any scheme of order greater than or equal to 2, such as a MUSCL-type scheme, and ensures that this scheme exactly preserves the steady solutions. The main discrepancy with usual techniques lies in never having to invert the nonlinear function governing the steady solutions. Moreover, for under-determined steady solutions, several nonlinear functions must be considered simultaneously. Since the derived correction only considers the evaluation of the governing nonlinear functions, we are able to deal with under-determined stationary systems. Several numerical experiments illustrate the relevance of the proposed well-balanced correction.

International audience; Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a hypercalcemic hormone acting on kidneys, bone and intestine. PTH promotes calcium release from the bone, renal calcium reabsorption and phosphate excretion, and conversion of 25-hydroxyvitamin D to 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-3. Hyperparathyroidism consists in PTH elevation, which may be adapted (secondary hyperparathyroidism) or non-adapted to calcemia levels (primary hyperparathyroidism, familial hypercalcemia/hypocalciuria, tertiary hyperparathyroidism). Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHP) features hypercalcemia and elevated or inappropriate PTH elevation. PHP may be revealed by biological abnormalities such as hypercalcemia and can be accompanied by renal complications (hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, nephrocalcinosis) and/or osteoporosis. However, it can also be normocalcemic and calcium loading will be necessary to diagnosis it. The differential diagnosis of PHP is familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia (FHH), a dominant autosomal disease implicating a calcium sensing receptor-inactivating mutation. It impairs parathyroid cell sensitivity to calcemia elevation and thus induces excessive PTH stimulation, leading to hypercalcemia. Secondary HP (SHP) consists in PTH elevation secondary to a stimulus that needs to be corrected. 25 OHvitD deficiency, kidney failure, renal hypercalciuria, malabsorption and some drugs can induce SHP. Tertiary HP (THP) consists in autonomous PTH secretion by the parathyroid glands after prolonged stimulation under SHP, of whatever cause. This parathyroid autonomy results from the polyclonal hyperplasia observed in SHP progressing toward monoclonal nodular proliferation, leading to nodular hyperplasia or parathyroid adenoma (or, exceptionally, carcinoma), with reduced expression of CaSR and vitamin D receptor. In patients under dialysis, the frontier between SHP and THP is a matter of debate. This review will focus on the pathophysiology of calcium, diagnosis, and management of hyperparathyroidism.

International audience; Midazolam is a benzodiazepine frequently used for sedation in patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This drug is primarily metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) isoenzymes. Several studies have suggested that inflammation, frequently observed in these patients, could modulate CYP3A activity. The objective of this work was to study the impact of inflammation on midazolam pharmacokinetics in patients with COVID-19. Forty-eight patients hospitalized in the ICU for COVID-19 and treated with midazolam administered by continuous infusion were included in this study. Midazolam and α-hydroxymidazolam concentrations were measured and patient data, including the use of CYP3A inhibitors, were collected. Total and unbound concentrations of midazolam and α-hydroxymidazolam were measured in plasma using a validated liquid-chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry method. Inflammatory condition was evaluated by C-reactive protein (CRP) level measurement. Both drug concentrations and CRP measurements were performed on 354 plasma samples. CRP elevation was significantly associated with the α-hydroxymidazolam/midazolam plasma ratio decrease, whether for the unbound fraction or for the total fraction. Conversely, inflammation was not associated with protein binding modifications. Logically, α-hydroxymidazolam/midazolam plasma ratio was significantly reduced when patients were treated with CYP3A inhibitors. In this study, we showed that inflammation probably reduces the metabolism of midazolam by CYP3A. These results suggest that molecules with narrow therapeutic margins and metabolized by CYP3A should be administrated with care in case of massive inflammatory situations.

In this paper, we study the Landau equation under the Navier-Stokes scaling in the torus for hard and moderately soft potentials. More precisely, we investigate the Cauchy theory in a perturbative framework and establish some new short time regularization estimates for our rescaled nonlinear Landau equation. These estimates are quantified in time and optimal, indeed, we obtain the instantaneous expected anisotropic gain of regularity (see [53] for the corresponding hypoelliptic estimates on the linearized Landau collision operator). Moreover, the estimates giving the gain of regularity in the velocity variable are uniform in the Knudsen number. Intertwining these new estimates on the Landau equation with estimates on the Navier-Stokes-Fourier system, we are then able to obtain a result of strong convergence towards this fluid system.

This paper discusses interdisciplinary collaborative practices based on the AdA project (meaning “Affektrhetoriken des Audiovisuellen” https://projectada.github.io/) in which institutionally situated research groups from computational sciences and film studies developed approaches for the analysis of the temporal dynamics of audiovisual expressivity by bringing together a theoretically informed methodology of film analysis and computational video analysis and semantic video annotation. In an earlier publication, we already presented how co-building a Digital Humanities tool could be seen as instrumental genesis. In it we concentrated on the iterative development of a visualisation framework to highlight the need for a common language and for the consideration of time needed for collaboration.We would like to pursue the reflection on the instrumental genesis (Rabardel, 1995) of collaboration tools along the time dimension. We saw that every step of tool development for such qualitative and exploratory research requires time: may it be for tool sketching, development, testing, or documenting its usage for manual annotation.

International audience; In biological systems, the joints are actuated antagonistically by muscles that can be moved coherently to achieve the desired displacement and co-activated with appropriate forces to increase the joint stiffness. Taking inspiration from this, there is an interest to develop bio-inspired robots that are suitable for both low-stiffness and high-stiffness tasks. Mechanisms actuated by antagonist cables can be a reasonable approximation of biological joints. A study on the antiparallelogram mechanism showed that the antagonistic forces (> 0) have a positive influence on its stiffness, similar to the biological joints. In this work, more general symmetric four-bar mechanisms with crossed/regular limbs, larger/smaller top and base bars are investigated for this property. Totally, six different types of mechanisms were identified and the limits of movement were determined in each case. Inside these limits, it was found through numerical simulations that the cable forces have a positive (resp. negative) influence on the stiffness of the mechanism when its limbs are crossed (resp. regular). This shows that the symmetric fourbar mechanisms with crossed limbs are suitable for building bio-inspired joints/robots, while their counterparts cannot serve this purpose. Among these, the anti-parallelogram mechanism offers the largest orientation range of ] − π, π[ for the top bar w.r.t. its base and is thus the best choice.

International audience; Le projet d’aménagement des Jardins de la cathédrale au Mans a entraîné la mise en place de deux diagnostics archéologiques successifs réalisés début 2015 et à l’automne 2016, en amont des travaux sur les 2 800 m² d'emprise. Cette intervention fait suite à la fouille menée en 2014 au niveau de la place du Jet d'eau sur les parcelles attenantes à l'emprise. L'ensemble des opérations prescrites par le service régional de l'archéologie et réalisées par l'Inrap sont intrinsèquement liées ; elles permettent de renouveler grandement nos connaissances de la topographie historique de la ville. Le principal axe de recherche correspond à l'axe 9 de la programmation nationale de la recherche archéologique, en effet les travaux contribuent à mieux documenter le phénomène urbain.

Bosch processing is an etching technique extensively used in the semiconductor industry towards the obtention of deep aspect ratio features which are necessary for MEMS and TSV applications [1,2]. The process consists in the repetition of an isotropic etching step using SF6 plasma followed by a C4F8 plasma step to passivate the trench sidewalls in order to achieve anisotropic profiles [2,3]. Although other techniques can be used towards deep silicon etching, such as standard cryoetching and the STiGer process, Bosch process offers less constraints as it is performed at ambient temperature and is very robust [1]. However, the main difficulty of this process is the gradual accumulation of fluorocarbonated species on the reactor sidewalls which leads to process deviations. Subsequently, different solutions have been developed to increase process stability and reduce the occurrence of reactor cleanings such as the development of heater liners on the reactor edges to heat the sidewalls above the condensation temperature of the fluorocarbonated polymers formed during passivation steps [4]. In comparison, cryogenic processes present the advantage of enhanced process stability as the reactive species mainly interact with the cooled substrate due to its cryogenic temperature. However, there is no significant study which attests of the impact of performing Bosch process at cryogenic temperatures and the impact of temperature in general on the etching profiles.In this research study, a given set of Bosch process parameters were performed at different temperatures to evaluate the evolution of the etching profile. It will be shown that Bosch process is effectively temperature dependent and that the necessary C4F8 passivating gas flow can be significantly reduced at cryogenic temperatures towards the obtention of anisotropic profiles (Fig. 1).Figure 1: Comparison of two etching profiles obtained with the same Bosch process parameters at different temperatures (Fig 1.a: T = -100°C and Fig 1.b: T = +20°C).Furthermore, a slight increase of the etch rate is observed at lower temperatures although it strengthens aspect ratio dependent etching (ARDE). A comprehensive study on the influence of temperature on the formation and properties of the flurorocarbonated passivation layer will be shown. Consequently, additional tests will be presented to evaluate whether the reduction of the necessary C4F8 gas flow at lower temperatures effectively results in the extension of process stability.The study was carried out using a cryogenic ICP reactor equipped with an in-situ ellipsometer. The tests were performed on Si coupons with a 1 μm surface SiO2 hard-mask layer. The hard-mask pattern consisted of trenches from 2 to 10 μm wide. These coupons were sticked on SiO2 4” carrier wafers using a specific thermal glue used for cryogenic process tests.This research project is supported by the CERTeM 2020 platform, which provides most of the equipment and funded by the European Union (FEDER fund) as well as the French National Research Agency (ANR PSICRYO fund).References 1. Deep learning approaches have allowed for a great leap in the performances of visual saliency models. However, the lack of annotated data remains the main challenge for visual saliency prediction. In this paper, we leverage image inpainting methods to synthesize augmented images, which is done by completing the weakly-salient areas, and propose a Visual Saliency guided Generative Adversarial Network (VSGAN) that contains a dual encoder to extract multiscale features and a generator equipped with visual saliency guided modulation to synthesize high fidelity and diversity results. Extensive experimental results show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods for image inpainting on visual saliency datasets, and demonstrate the effectiveness of VSGAN for visual saliency data augmentation both quantitatively and qualitatively. Quality of Experience (QoE) in video streaming scenarios is significantly affected by the viewing environment and display device. Understanding and measuring the impact of these settings on QoE can help develop viewing environment-aware metrics and improve the efficiency of video streaming services. In this ongoing work, we conducted a subjective study in both laboratory and home settings using the same content and design to measure QoE in Degradation Category Rating (DCR). We first analyzed subject inconsistency and confidence intervals of the Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) between the two settings. We then used statistical models such as ANOVA and t-test to analyze the differences in subjective tests on video quality between the two viewing environments. Additionally, we employed the Eliminated-By-Aspects (EBA) model to quantify the influence of different settings on the measured QoE. We conclude with several research questions that could be further explored to better understand the impact of the viewing environment on QoE.

International audience; The ANR SO-DRIIHM project (October 2020 - March 2024) has two main objectives, firstly to promote open science within the multidisciplinary DRIIHM community, and secondly to co-design an ergonomic "open science gateway" platform. This presentation provides an overview of the tasks carried out for each work package:- WP1: a survey on data sharing practices, the support of OHM pilot projects (data management plans, data deposits, data paper...) and the search tool for open science resources called ORRSO. We have also contributed to the data policy roadmap for CNRS-INEE infrastructures.- WP2: identify services (search data and publications, deposit data through our platform, make FAIR data as possible, draft a data paper...), set up an IT team with additional funding and carry out IT developments, involve volunteer researchers and the data steward support team in codesigning the future platform.

International audience; Sound matching algorithms seek to approximate a target waveform by parametric audio synthesis. Deep neural networks have achieved promising results in matching sustained harmonic tones. However, the task is more challenging when targets are nonstationary and inharmonic, e.g., percussion. We attribute this problem to the inadequacy of loss function. On one hand, mean square error in the parametric domain, known as "P-loss", is simple and fast but fails to accommodate the differing perceptual significance of each parameter. On the other hand, mean square error in the spectrotemporal domain, known as "spectral loss", is perceptually motivated and serves in differentiable digital signal processing (DDSP). Yet, spectral loss is a poor predictor of pitch intervals and its gradient may be computationally expensive; hence a slow convergence. Against this conundrum, we present Perceptual-Neural-Physical loss (PNP). PNP is the optimal quadratic approximation of spectral loss while being as fast as P-loss during training. We instantiate PNP with physical modeling synthesis as decoder and joint time-frequency scattering transform (JTFS) as spectral representation. We demonstrate its potential on matching synthetic drum sounds in comparison with other loss functions.

This paper discusses stiffness and antagonistic actuation in light-weight cable-driven bio-inspired manipulators suitable for safe interactions. Manipulators under study are built upon arranging in series several tensegrity joints, called “modules.” A comparative study of several modules revealed that the X module, in contrast to modules based on pivots, allows one to increase joint stiffness by increasing antagonistic input forces like during muscle coactivation. For a planar manipulator with N modules, antagonistic actuation schemes with 2N and N + 1 cables are proposed and compared. It is shown that the N + 1 cable actuation scheme allows controlling both the manipulator configuration and joint stiffness satisfactorily. As compared with a manipulator with 2N active cables, one on each side of each module, higher forces are required to achieve the manipulator configuration. However, the N + 1 cable actuation scheme is a reasonable solution that allows reducing the moving masses and cost.

International audience; Instrumental genesis through interdisciplinary collaboration-reflections on the emergence of a visualisation framework for video annotation data XML This paper presents, discusses and reflects on the development of a visualization framework for the analysis of the temporal dynamics of audiovisual expressivity. The main focus lies on the instrumental genesis process (Rabardel 1995; Longchamp 2012)-a concept trying to express and analyze the co-evolution of instruments and the practices they make possible-underlying this development. It is described through the collaboration and communication processes between computer science scholars and humanities scholars in finding new ways of visualizing complex datasets for exploration and presentation in the realm of film-studies research. It draws on the outcome and concrete usage of the visualizations in publications and presentations of a research group, the AdAproject, that investigates the audiovisual rhetorics of affect in audiovisual media on the financial crisis (2007-). These film analyses are based on theoretical assumptions on the process of film-viewing, the relation of the viewer's perception and the temporally unfolding audiovisual images, and a methodical approach that draws on 'steps' in the research process such as segmentation, description and qualification, called eMAEX (Kappelhoff et al. 2011-2016) to reconstruct these experiential figurations (Bakels et al. 2020a, 2020b). The main focus of this paper is the process of iterative development of visualizations as interactive interfaces generated with the open-source software Advene, that were an integral part of the research process. In this regard, the timeline visualization is not only of interest for visual argumentation in (digital) humanities publications, but also for the creation of annotations as well as the exploration of this data. In the first part of the paper we describe this interdisciplinary collaboration as instrumental genesis on a general level-as an evolving and iterative process. In the second part we focus on the specific challenge of designing a visualization framework for the temporal dynamics of audiovisual aesthetics. Lastly we zoom out by reflecting on experiences and insights that might be of interest for the wider digital humanities community.

Controversial reports have suggested that SARS-CoV E and 3a proteins may be viroporins that conduct currents through the plasma membrane of the infected cells. If true, these proteins would represent accessible targets for the development of new antiviral drugs by using high-throughput patch-clamp techniques. Here we aimed at better characterizing the cell responses induced by E or 3a protein with a particular focus on the ion conductances measured at the cell surface. First, we show that expression of SARS-CoV-2 E or 3a protein in CHO cells gives rise to cells with newly-acquired round shape, tending to detach from the Petri dish. This suggests that cell death is induced upon expression of E or 3a protein. We confirmed this hypothesis by using flow cytometry, in agreement with earlier reports on other cell types. In adhering cells expressing E or 3a protein, whole-cell currents were in fact not different from the control condition indicating that E and 3a proteins are not plasma membrane viroporins. In contrast, recording currents on detached cells uncovered outwardly-rectifying currents, much larger than those observed in control. The current characteristics are reminiscent of what was previously observed in cells expressing SARS-CoV-1 E or 3a proteins. Herein, we illustrate for the first time that carbenoxolone blocks these outward currents suggesting that they are conducted by pannexin channels, mostly likely activated by cell morphology change and/or cell death. Alongside we also demonstrate that truncation of the C-terminal PDZ binding motifs reduces the proportion of dying cells but does not prevent pannexin currents suggesting distinct pathways for cell death and pannexin currents induced by E and 3a proteins. We conclude that SARS-CoV-2 E and 3a proteins are not acting as viroporins expressed at the plasma membrane.Author SummaryA viroporin (or viral porin) is a class of proteins that is encoded by a virus genome. It is named porin because its biological role is to conduct ions through a pore that it created in a lipid membrane such as the one surrounding a human cell. if such viroporin is present at the external membrane of a human cell infected by a virus, it can be an easy target of an antiviral agent which thus does not have to enter the cell to be active. One example of viroporin is the flu M2 protein that is the target of amantadine, an antiviral agent used against flu. In previous studies, two proteins of SARS-CoV viruses, named E protein and 3a protein, have been suggested to be viroporins at the surface of infected human cells, potentially opening a new research avenue against SARS. Here we demonstrate that both proteins are not viroporins at the external membrane but they rather trigger changes in the cell shape and promote cell death. They only indirectly induce the activity of a porin that is encoded by the cell genome, named pannexin.

It is very well known that the fraction of energy in a hadron collision going into electromagnetic particles (electrons and photons, including those from decays) has a large impact on the number of muons produced in air shower cascades. Recent measurements at the LHC confirm features that can be linked to a mixture of different underlying particle production mechanisms such as a collective statistical hadronization (core) in addition to the expected string fragmentation (corona). Since the two mechanisms have a different electromagnetic energy fraction, we present a possible connection between statistical hadronization in hadron collisions and muon production in air showers. Using a novel approach, we demonstrate that the core-corona effect as observed at the LHC could be part of the solution for the lack of muon production in simulations of high energy cosmic rays. To probe this hypothesis, we study hadronization in high energy hadron collisions using calorimetric information over a large range of pseudorapidity in combination with the multiplicity of central tracks. As an experimental observable, we propose the production of energy in electromagnetic particles versus hadrons, as a function of pseudorapidity and central charged particle multiplicity.

International audience; Au fur et à mesure du développement des différentes architectures de cellules photovoltaïques, la passivation du silicium s’est révélée être une amélioration clé des performances[1]. Dans les années 2010, l’évolution des recherches amène les dispositifs constitués de couches minces. On observe alors une diminution des efficacités avec la diminution des épaisseurs (< 200 microns)[1]. Les rapports surface sur volume pour du silicium cristallin sont désormais tels que les recombinaisons des porteurs de charge en surface avant et arrière deviennent limitantes avec une forte diminution des durées de vie des porteurs. Après avoir fait un tour d’horizon des matériaux étudiés et utilisés pour la passivation du silicium, on présentera les diverses propriétés du nitrure d’aluminium. L’AlN est en effet un excellent candidat. Son gap indirect implique d’une part des recombinaisons radiatives très rares. D’autre part, sa conductivité thermique proche de celle du cuivre pourrait favoriser les évacuations de chaleur. Il faut rappeler que l’échauffement des dispositifs est un facteur important de dégradation des performances. Non seulement les fortes températures dégradent les efficacités solaires des modules mais elles détériorent aussi les caractéristiques des éléments polymères des dispositifs[2]. Pour tenter d’y remédier, les matériaux d’encapsulation (dits ‘’packaging’’) doivent ainsi être capables d’évacuer au plus vite la chaleur. Lors de l’exposé, plusieurs variétés de microstructures AlN/AlNO accessibles grâce à la pulvérisation cathodique magnétron seront présentées [3]. International audience; La notion d’environnement nocturne émerge à la suite de la requalification de la lumière artificielle nocturne en pollution lumineuse. Elle entend caractériser les systèmes humains et non humains fonctionnellement liés à l’obscurité. Contrairement à la notion de pollution lumineuse, elle oblige à penser conjointement les multiples enjeux du couple lumière artificielle/obscurité. En l’inscrivant dans le cadre d’analyse des systèmes socio-écologiques, nous faisons de l’environnement nocturne un objet de recherche à part entière apte à structurer une interdisciplinarité entre sciences de la nature et sciences humaines et sociales. C’est sur le territoire réunionnais que nous mettons cet objet relationnel à l’épreuve du monde réel, dans une démarche transdisciplinaire menée avec une multiplicité d’acteurs autour des enjeux d’aménagement que soulève la volonté de préservation holistique de la ressource obscurité. Du savoir à l’action, de la construction d’un objet de recherche à l’installation d’un dispositif collaboratif dédié à la production de connaissances scientifiques situées sur l’environnement nocturne et à l’accompagnement des acteurs locaux dans leurs démarches de préservation et de valorisation de l’obscurité, il s’agira bien sûr de rendre compte et discuter d’un processus de recherche hybride qui puise sa vitalité dans une interdisciplinarité radicale. Mais il s’agira également de témoigner de certaines difficultés que des différences de conceptions et de pratiques professionnelles peuvent poser dans la symétrisation des relations entre scientifiques et non scientifiques, entre chercheurs et autres acteurs sociaux.

Thus, one of the technologies using combustion structures and containers of particular types, namely tunnel kilns and punnet containers, which had never been really characterized, will be analyzed with regard to its geographical distribution and a more detailed understanding of its chronology.; Les données acquises depuis plus de 20 ans sur la production protohistorique de sel dans l’Ouest de la France offrent aujourd’hui l’opportunité d’une nouvelle réflexion sur les différentes technologies mises en œuvre, parallèlement ou successivement. Ainsi, l’une des technologies mettant en œuvre des structures de combustion et des moules de types particuliers, à savoir des fours couloir ou fours à pont et des barquettes, qui n’avait jamais été réellement caractérisée, sera analysée au regard de sa distribution géographique et d’une appréhension plus fine de sa chronologie.

Au terme de deux années de travail, le GT « Controverses » a souhaité souligner premièrement la responsabilité de l’Institut Mines-Télécom dans la formation de futurs ingénieurs et managers qui seront confrontés dans le cadre de leurs activités professionnelles à l’expression d’arguments (pas seulement les leurs) et à la prise de décision dans des situations qui pourront être plus ou moins controversées. Deuxièmement, dans un contexte ou la décision évolue vers des situations de plus en plus controversées. La guerre en Ukraine et ses conséquences en sont un exemple, tout autant que la transition écologique, sociale et sociétale. Les choix managériaux et technologiques sont pris dans des enjeux plus larges, « controversés ». Il est donc primordial de travailler sur le développement de compétences spécifiques dans le curricula des étudiants afin de sortir de situations scolaires souvent trop bornées et dans lesquelles les controverses sont réputées ne pas exister d’une part et d’autre part il est nécessaire de comprendre les situations controversées afin de mettre en place des dispositifs permettant d’y faire face.Ce guide qui se veut avant tout opérationnelle et pratique, identifie les enjeux principaux d’une pédagogie par et pour les controverses, afin d’offrir à l’enseignant·e- chercheur·e intéressé·e un ensemble de repères solides pour se lancer, répondre aux attentes des apprenant·e·s ou améliorer son cours ; bref, mettre le pied à l’étrier.Ainsi cette publication précise ce qu’est une situation controversée, les compétences requises ou travaillées dans ce genre de situation ou encore en quoi cela pose des défis spécifiques à l’enseignant·e, en termes de posture.

International audience; Survival analysis of DLBCL patients requires the interpretation of PET images characterised by multiple small lesions. Current machine-learning approaches addressing similar problems consider as input the cropped image of a single lesion or the whole volume. In this paper, we incorporate the information of all lesions by modeling their joint survival analysis with a graph learning approach. We propose a compact graph representation of the segmented lesions enriched by radiomics features and edge weights. The representation is fed to a graph attention network to predict the 2-year Progression-Free Survival of a DLBCL patient, formalised as a graph classification problem. Experimental results on a clinical prospective database with 583 patients show that our method improves over three baseline fusion approaches.

International audience; La charpente en chêne de Notre-Dame de Paris est réputée indemne de toute attaque d'insectes xylophages, hormis un épisode de traitement curatif en 2018 par une entreprise privée. Pourtant, aucune étude spécifique n'a encore été réalisée à ce jour pour déterminer s'il y a eu ou non une infestation de la charpente par les ravageurs du bois (insectes et champignons) pour les périodes plus anciennes et son impact sur l'ensemble de la structure.Ainsi, dans le cadre du programme CASIMODO (coord. A. Dufraisse, MNHM, AASPE UMR7209), une étude anthraco-entomologique est en cours de réalisation dont l'objectif principal est de chercher et de caractériser ces agents biologiques dans les bois carbonisés de la charpente pour en évaluer l'état sanitaire général au moment de l'incendie.Il existe près de 600 espèces d'insectes xylophages ayant chacun une biologie qui lui est propre : privilégiant les arbres dépérissants ; attaque du cambium, aubier et/ou duramen ; préférence pour les troncs, branches ou souches, feuillus, résineux ou les deux ; spécialisé sur des bois en phase de stockage ou placés dans le bâti avec une teneur élevée ou au contraire faible en humidité... C'est de nombreuses perspectives d'interprétations qui sont possibles. Ainsi, les bois carbonisés de Notre-Dame préserve les vestiges de pratiques et de gestes des sociétés médiévales et modernes. Cela concerne notamment la protection et l'entretient du bois d'œuvre mais peut-être aussi des indices de choix et de gestion de la matière première : arbres choisis sains ou non, durée de stockage avant le travail et la confection de la charpente...L'identification des insectes xylophages s'effectue à partir de l'observation des traces que les larves laissent dans le bois : les galeries et la vermoulure (déjections de la larve). Grâce à la création récente de normes et de référentiels, basées sur la morphométrie et l'aspect macro- et microscopique des pellètes fécales, la caractérisation d'espèce ou de genres de ravageurs permettent de :- mesurer l'état sanitaire du bois et l'impact des ravageurs sur les propriétés mécaniques de la pièce puis de la charpente entière- d'évaluer le moment de l'infestation du bois (arbre sur pied, stockage, en place dans l'architecture) voire, sa durée (nombre de génération d'insecte et durée du cycle évolutif)- et potentiellement d'en déterminer l'origine (zone d'humidité, d'infiltration).Et au contraire, si le bois ne présente pas de trace : est-ce que le bois est sain ? Y-a-t-il eu diverses campagnes de protections de la charpente au cours de son fonctionnement ?Située à l'interface des sciences de l'homme et de la société et des sciences biologiques, cette approche interdisciplinaire reste inédite pour la période médiévale. En lien avec les archéologues du bâti spécialistes des charpentes et les dendrochronologues, la recontextualisation des pièces de bois tant spatialement que chronologiquement affinera les interprétations anthraco-entomologiques.

International audience; Narrow-band imaging (NBI) bronchoscopy offers enhanced visualization of microvascular structures in the lung’s epithelium (airway walls). Recent studies suggest that such vessels are helpful in predicting the invasiveness of bronchial lesions. In particular, Shibuya characterized pathological features of lesions and studied their relationship with specific histological stages of lung cancer. We propose a method for identifying these vascular patterns using a small expert-labeled dataset. Our approach is based on a few-shot learning method using a Siamese network to learn and distinguish pathological features of the bronchial vasculature. We achieved better intra-class clustering and inter-class separation in the embedding space compared to a baseline CNN classifier. Further, a 25% increase in the overall accuracy was obtained during testing.

International audience; This paper considers the problem of maximizing an expectation function over a finite set, or finite-arm bandit problem. We first propose a naive stochastic bandit algorithm for obtaining a probably approximately correct (PAC) solution to this discrete optimization problem in relative precision, that is a solution which solves the optimization problem up to a relative error smaller than a prescribed tolerance, with high probability. We also propose an adaptive stochastic bandit algorithm which provides a PAC-solution with the same guarantees. The adaptive algorithm outperforms the mean complexity of the naive algorithm in terms of number of generated samples and is particularly well suited for applications with high sampling cost.

International audience; Thymic epithelial tumors are rare neoplastic proliferations of thymic epithelial cells. The aggressiveness of these malignancies increases as higher is the histologic subtype, being thymic carcinoma the most aggressive subtype, with a greater tendency to metastatic spread. In metastatic setting, there is no standard treatment after progression on platinum-based chemotherapy. In this scenario, monotherapy treatment either with lenvatinib, a multi-tyrosine kinase inhibitor with antiangiogenic properties, or pembrolizumab, an immune-checkpoint inhibitor, has reported clinical activity. Potential combination of both agents may have synergistic activity as reported in other cancer types. PECATI trial is a single-arm, investigator-initiated phase II study aiming to assess the activity and safety of the combination of lenvatinib and pembrolizumab in 43 patients with advanced B3-thymoma or thymic carcinoma who progressed on or after at least one previous line of platinum-based chemotherapy. The primary endpoint of the trial is 5-month progression-free survival rate and the secondary endpoints include overall response rate, duration of response, and overall survival.

International audience; The integration of entomology into xylological analysis is a new but increasingly common approach taken by heritage conservation scientists. Archaeology, however, has yet to embrace its full potential. Here, for the first time, entomology is integrated into the xylological analysis of waterlogged timber from the harbour site of a Roman port town in Reze Saint-Lupien, France. Xylophagous insects were characterised based on the traces they had left in the timber, i.e. galleries and larval pellets. Their identification, sometimes to species level, provided clues about the nature and condition of the timber that had been used to build the harbour, and helped determine when the wood had been colonised, i.e. within the living standing tree, during storage as timber, during construction work or when part of the final structure. Combined with archaeological data, the xylological and entomological analyses have enhanced our understanding of the harbour's construction history and provided valuable insights into the timber choices made by the Roman construction workers.

In this paper, we aim to account for the distribution and interpretation of a novel class of free choice items in Romanian, which we refer to as additive free choice items (ADD-FCIs). We show that the internal composition of ADD-FCIs, as well as their distribution, differs from that attested for other free choice paradigms discussed in the literature. Morphologically, ADD-FCIs are a more complex variant of regular universal FCIs, by virtue of an additional morpheme. This morpheme plays an additive role when it functions as a stand-alone particle, and we propose that its role is similarly additive when it functions as an infix in ADD-FCIs. Couched in an exhaustification framework, we put forward a novel compositional account that can derive the interpretation of these ADD-FCIs. As for their distribution, these elements are only found in the presence of the conditional mood, as well as unconditional structures. We show how our analysis, coupled with the Viability Constraint used to explain the distribution of regular FCIs, can also account for their restricted distribution. In doing so, we further show how the pattern we investigate opens new perspectives regarding the licensing of free choice items in unconditionals.

International audience; Background: Fatigue is commonly reported by patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but the determinants of IBD-related fatigue have yet to be determined.Aims: To identify the factors associated with fatigue in a large population of patients with IBD.Patients and methods: Fatigue and nine other IBD-related disability dimensions were assessed in a cohort of 1704 consecutive patients with IBD using the IBD-disk questionnaire in a cross-sectional survey of 42 French and Belgian centers. Fatigue and severe fatigue were defined as energy subscores >5 and >7, respectively. Determinants of fatigue were assessed using univariate and multivariate analyses (odds ratios (ORs) are provided with 95% confidence intervals).Results: The prevalence rates of fatigue and severe fatigue were 54.1% and 37.1%, respectively. Both fatigue and severe fatigue were significantly higher in patients with active disease than in patients with inactive disease (64.9% vs. 44.7% and 47.4% vs. 28.6%, respectively; p40 years (OR=0.71 [0.54-0.93]), female sex (OR=1.48 [1.13-1.93]), IBD-related sick leave (OR=1.61 (1.19-2.16]), and joint pain (OR=1.60 [1.17-2.18]), abdominal pain (OR=1.78 [1.29-2.45]), regulating defecation (OR=1.67 [1.20-2.32]), education and work (OR=1.96 [1.40-2.75]), body image (OR=1.38 [1.02-1.86]), sleep (OR=3.60 [2.66-4.88]) and emotions (OR=3.60 [2.66-4.88]) subscores > 5.Conclusion: Determinants of fatigue are not restricted to IBD-related factors but also include social factors, sleep, and emotional disturbances, thus supporting a holistic approach to IBD patient care.

International audience; The article proposes an analysis of the implicit ideas that characterize secondary school geography, using the case of metropolization. The analysis is based on a corpus of students' notebooks, textbooks and the program for the sixth grade of secondary school. It revealed, on the one hand, implicit knowledge for the students concerning the division of knowledge and the ways of doing things in the discipline, and on the other hand, a tacit agreement between the students and the teachers concerning the point of view on the world and the position of knowledge constructed. The theme of metropolization makes it possible to uncover an implicit norm of national framing of disciplinary knowledge in high school, in contradiction with the multi-situated approaches of a scientific geography where the production of knowledge has become globalized.; L’article propose une analyse des implicites qui caractérisent la géographie du secondaire à partir du cas de la métropolisation. L'analyse s’appuie sur un corpus de cahiers d’élèves, de manuels et sur le programme de la classe de première. Elle amène à distinguer d’une part, des implicites pour les élèves concernant le découpage des savoirs et les façons de faire dans la discipline, et d’autre part, un accord tacite concernant les élèves et les enseignants à propos du point de vue sur le monde et de la position de savoir construite. Le thème de la métropolisation permet de mettre au jour une norme implicite de cadrage national du savoir disciplinaire en lycée, en porte-à-faux avec les approches multisituées d’une géographie scientifique où la production de savoir s’est mondialisée.

We hypothesised that early calorie and protein restriction improved outcomes in these patients, compared with standard calorie and protein targets.MethodsThe pragmatic, randomised, controlled, multicentre, open-label, parallel-group NUTRIREA-3 trial was performed in 61 French intensive care units (ICUs). Adults (≥18 years) receiving invasive mechanical ventilation and vasopressor support for shock were randomly assigned to early nutrition (started within 24 h after intubation) with either low or standard calorie and protein targets (6 kcal/kg per day and 0·2–0·4 g/kg per day protein vs 25 kcal/kg per day and 1·0–1·3 g/kg per day protein) during the first 7 ICU days. The two primary endpoints were time to readiness for ICU discharge and day 90 all-cause mortality. Key secondary outcomes included secondary infections, gastrointestinal events, and liver dysfunction. The trial is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03573739, and is completed.FindingsOf 3044 patients randomly assigned between July 5, 2018, and 8 Dec 8, 2020, eight withdrew consent to participation. By day 90, 628 (41·3%) of 1521 patients in the low group and 648 (42·8%) of 1515 patients in the standard group had died (absolute difference –1·5%, 95% CI –5·0 to 2·0; p=0·41). Median time to readiness for ICU discharge was 8·0 days (IQR 5·0–14·0) in the low group and 9·0 days (5·0–17·0) in the standard group (hazard ratio [HR] 1·12, 95% CI 1·02 to 1·22; p=0·015). Proportions of patients with secondary infections did not differ between the groups (HR 0·85, 0·71 to 1·01; p=0·06). International audience; Intermittent computing is an emerging paradigm for systems without batteries and powered by intermittent energy sources. This paradigm promises a more energy-efficient design of computing systems. It seems particularly well suited to the field of connected sensors that form the first level of the Internet of Things. This application domain requires a reactive computing model. The definition of an intermittent and reactive model is a problem that has not yet been fully explored in the literature. In this paper, we focus on the modeling and analysis of intermittent reactive systems. We first introduce an extension of Time Petri Nets with cost to model the different dimensions of the system: concurrency, real time, energy consumption and reward representing the gains generated by the system when it has succeeded in carrying out certain actions. We then aim to synthesize optimal runs of the model that achieve the highest possible reward under a given cost (energy) constraint. We propose a symbolic algorithm for constrained-cost state space computation and prove its termination. We then present algorithms for the synthesis of the optimal traces from an exhaustive or partial state space exploration. We finally illustrate the cost-optimal traces synthesis on a case study and show how that can be used online for joint management of computing time and energy.

In this work we continue to investigate well-posedness for stable driven McKean-Vlasov SDEs with distributional interaction kernel following the approach introduced in [8]. We specifically focus on the impact of the Besov smoothness of the initial condition and quantify how it affects the corresponding density estimates for the SDE. In particular, we manage to attain some critical thresholds allowing to revisit/address in a stable noise setting some concrete physical and biological models.

The R-Min robot is an intrinsically safe parallel manipulator dedicated to pick-and-place operations. The proposed architecture is based on a five-bar mechanism, with additional passive joints in order to obtain a planar seven-bar mechanism with two degrees of underactuation, allowing the robot to reconfigure in case of a collision. A preload bar is added between the base and the end-effector to constrain the additional degrees-of-freedom. This article presents an analysis of the workspace and of the safety performances of the R-Min robot, and it compares them with those of the five-bar mechanism, in order to evaluate the benefits of introducing underactuation in a parallel architecture to obtain intrinsically safer robots. The geometrico-static model of the R-Min robot is formulated as an optimization problem. The direct and inverse kinemato-static models are derived from the geometrico-static model and they allow to express the singularity conditions of the R-Min robot. An analysis of the singularity loci is carried out among the robot’s workspace. A controller based on the dynamic model is proposed and experimentally validated on a prototype of the R-Min robot. Finally, the safety performances of the R-Min robot are evaluated experimentally and they are compared with that of an equivalent five-bar mechanism, using the maximum impact force as a safety criteria in accordance with recent international standards.
