New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 10 m depth, by Dean Tully on 5 July 2011; a specimen observed south of Nemto Island, New Hanover, 1–12 m depth, St. T 24, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Marquesas and Tuamotu islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and Lord Howe Island. Found on sand and rubble, in coastal coral reefs and lagoons, 0–25 m depth.
