Abstract

Amblyglyphidodon leucogaster (Bleeker 1847) —Whitebelly damselfish Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 1 and 4 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District; another specimen photographed at St. KVG 17 on the Bismarck Sea side of northern Kavieng District by Serge Andréfouët on 18 Aug. 2014, and at St. KVG25 (off southeastern New Hanover) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Cocos-Keeling Islands (eastern Indian Ocean) east to Marshall Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in lagoons, passes and slopes of seaward coral reefs, usually on dead gorgonian branches, 5–45 m depth.
