This Internship Report aims to portray the four months of curricular internship carried out at the UZINA Advertising Agency, in the period between August 30, 2021 and January 14, 2022. Throughout the report, the path and performance of the student as Junior Art Director will be described, as well as the various projects and challenges in which she had the opportunity to participate, as part of the Creative Team. The object of study of the research focuses on the functions that she performed throughout the internship, from her integration into the Creative Department of the Agency. In particular, the problem associated with the way in which the Art Direction answers to Creative Briefings is highlighted. The motivation to approach this subject is centred on clarifying the role that the Art Direction plays in the advertising context, in order to demystify all the daily procedures that it goes through when answering to Creative Briefings. From a better understanding of the area of action of Design and Advertising in a professional context, it is also intended to clarify potential students interested in entering this field. Having said this, the approach and methodologies applied are defined, on the one hand, in the research and literary approach on the theoretical contents inherent to the problematic and, on the other hand, in a detailed analysis of two practical cases developed for the brands IKEA and FREE NOW.

During the past decade, society has become increasingly aware of the dimension of environmental damage done over the years, and therefore demanding that corporations finally assume their part in the solution. The integration of sustainability into corporate strategy has evolved significantly, and nowadays, is seen not only as a requirement but as a key factor to achieving superior competitive advantage. One industry that has stood out for its destructive and extensive impact is the textile industry. The progress has been noticeable, but slow, and insufficient when compared to the scale of the problem. Therefore, considering the many challenges this integration can have, and the considerable importance of the textile sector in the Portuguese economy, this investigation has two main purposes. The first consists of understanding the enablers and drivers, as well as the limitations of the implementation of environmental sustainability into corporate strategy and operational structure. Secondly, how companies can benefit and even thrive through this process, aligned with the premise of the Shared Value Principle. To achieve this investigative purpose, a case study form was adopted, and in the end, a final framework was elaborated, that allows to objectively and pragmatically identify key success factors of this integration, the ongoing limitations, and the contribution it can have in the strategy and positioning of Portuguese textile companies in the European context.

Ceftriaxone sodium is a widely used antimicrobial, which is only available as a lyophilized powder. The presence of methods for evaluating the quality of this product is very important and helps to ensure its effectiveness, in addition to contributing to the fight against bacterial resistance. Therefore, a clean and sustainable high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method has been developed for evaluating ceftriaxone stability in pharmaceutical product. A Zorbax SB C18 (150 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm) column was maintained at 25°C; the mobile phase consisted of purified water acidified with 0.2% orthophosphoric acid and ethanol (87: 13, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.9 mL min−1. The detection wavelength was set at 260 nm. The method was linear over a concentration range of 20–120 μg mL−1, precise with relative standard deviations <2%, robust in the event of minor changes to the original method conditions, accurate with recovery between 98% and 102% and specific to degradation products. The retention time for ceftriaxone sodium was ~4.6 minutes. This work shows an ecologically correct option by HPLC method for the evaluation of ceftriaxone sodium in pharmaceutical product, as well as its stability, which addresses the requirements of the current green and sustainable analytical chemistry. In mixedwood boreal forests of western Canada, stands classified as 'pure deciduous' by forest inventories sometimes contain a few large white spruce (Picea glauca (Moench) Voss) trees among or emerging from the canopy. These trees are important as regeneration seed sources and for habitat structure. Neither their abundance nor the characteristics of stands in which they occur have previously been quantified. Of 275 'pure aspen' stands in northeastern Alberta, 19.6% contained at least one such spruce detectable in an aerial photograph. These trees were found in stands across the range of sampled canopy heights, densities, age classes, and stand sizes and were often present in the interior of stands, not just on the perimeter. The frequency of 3 ha cells containing at least one spruce was related to (i) stand shape and size, (ii) amount of mature white spruce in adjacent forest, (iii) canopy height, (iv) stand age, and (v) stand density. We conclude that such trees are relatively abundant and widely distributed within the boreal mixedwood forests of Alberta. There is presently no provision to maintain this landscape element within managed forests. More information is needed to determine if or how they should be considered in forest management planning. Background: Ceftriaxone sodium, an antimicrobial used in parenteral form, does not have a microbiological method by turbidimetry described in the literature. For drugs from antimicrobial class, the existence of a microbiological method for assessing their potency is essential. Not only are the results from the physical-chemical methods enough, but microbiological analyzes are also necessary. Objective and Methods: Thus, this paper reports the development and validation of an efficient, accurate, reproducible, fast, and low-cost microbiological assay by turbidimetry to quantify ceftriaxone sodium in powder for injection. Water was used as the diluent to prepare the ceftriaxone solutions. BHI broth as used as culture media for the growth of the S. aureus ATCC 6538 at 9%. Results: The method was linear in the range of 100–196 mg/mL, selective against the sample adjuvants and the forced degradation test, precise (intraday RSD 4.53%, interday RSD 3.85% and between analysts tcalculated 0.14<2.23 tcritical), accurate with recovery of 100.33% and robust against minor changes in the volume of culture medium used, wavelength, incubation time, and inoculum concentration. Conclusions and Highlights: The turbidimetric method developed in this paper is a convenient and valuable alternative to the routine quality control of ceftriaxone sodium in powder for injection, since it allows a reliable quantification and can be used to complement the physical-chemical analysis. It acts to prevent the synthesis of the bacterial wall, being highly stable to most β-lactamases. It is the drug of choice for the treatment of gonococcal infections; it is also indicated in the treatment of meningitis, among other infections. There are few studies in the literature regarding the development and validation of analytical methods for the quantification of ceftriaxone sodium, aiming at environmentally-friendly solvents, analyst safety, less analysis time and cost, feasibility and easy method execution. Based on these needs, the aim of the work was to develop and validate quantitative physicochemical methods for the analysis of ceftriaxone sodium in powder solution for injection through the techniques of high-performance liquid chromatography and infrared spectroscopy, also the potency of the drug was determined by the microbiological method by turbidimetry, all proposed methods are indicative of stability. The method by infrared spectrophotometry was carried out with potassium bromide pellets with a total mass of 150 mg in the concentration range of 0.40 to 1.20 mg/pellet were prepared, the content found was 94.18% and accuracy of 100.44%. The high-performance liquid chromatography was validated using mobile phase constituted by water and orthophosphoric acid in the concentration of 0.20% and ethanol 87:13 (v/v), in the linear range evaluated from 20.00 to 120.00 μg/mL, the drug had a mean retention time of 4.40 minutes with UV detection at wavelength 260 nm, the content found was 98.11% and the accuracy of 99.53%. The microbiological method by turbidimetry was validated in the concentration range of 100.00 to 196.00 μg/mL, using Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 - IAL 2082 as microorganism, BHI broth and water as diluent; which presented potency of 98.94% and accuracy of 100.33%. A study of the stability of the diluents by high-performance liquid chromatography and microbiological methods was also carried out, this way it was possible to evaluate the stability of the drug after its reconstitution. All validated methods have met all the requirements according to ICH and FDA guidelines and Brazilian legislation, RE 899 and RDC 166 and presented advantages when compared to the methods presented in the literature because they have low generation of residues in the environment, low use of toxic reagents and reduced analysis time. The proposed methods did not present significant statistical difference, demonstrating equivalence for the quantification of ceftriaxone sodium in the powder for injectable solution. 40300005

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is considered a public health problem. The initial treatment consists of improving the lifestyle and making changes in the diet. When these changes are not enough, the use of medication becomes necessary. The metformin aims to reduce the hepatic production of glucose and is the preferred treatment for type 2. The objective is to survey the characteristics and properties of metformin, as well as hold a discussion on the existing analytical methods to green chemistry and their impacts for both the operator and the environment. For the survey, data searches were conducted by scientific papers in the literature as well as in official compendium. The characteristics and properties are shown, also, methods using liquid chromatography techniques, titration, absorption spectrophotometry in the ultraviolet and the infrared region. Most of the methods presented are not green chemistry oriented. It is necessary the awareness of everyone involved in the optimization of the methods applied through the implementation of green chemistry to determine the metformin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents the first black spruce, balsam fir and larch tree ring width chronologies from Labrador. It uses a multi-species perspective to study the radial growth response of alpine treeline species in the Mealy Mountains to local and regional climate variables using bootstrapped correlation analysis. The radial growth response of black and white spruce trees is positively sensitive to growing season air temperatures and sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the vicinity of the Grand Banks. Moisture originating from warm SSTs in the adjacent Labrador Sea appears to affect moisture-sensitive white spruce and balsam fir trees negatively in the Mealy Mountains. Comparative analysis of 4 tree-ring time series indicates that periods of larch sawfly outbreaks have occurred in the Mealy Mountains and that these events exert a significant amount of influence on the radial growth of larch trees in the Mealy Mountains. These inferred periods of insect infestations coincide with others reported in Quebec. Growing season (June-September) temperature is reconstructed for the Mealy Mountains using merged spruce tree ring width chronologies (1847-2004). The reconstruction is in accordance with other reconstructions at regional and hemispheric scales. The sensitivity of spruce trees to local temperature and precipitation is unstable throughout the period of instrumental record due to moisture effects. Further, spruce trees in the Mealy Mountains show evidence of divergence from air temperatures over the last several decades. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Ceftriaxone sodium is a widely used antimicrobial, which is only available as a lyophilized powder. The presence of methods for evaluating the quality of this product is very important and helps to ensure its effectiveness, in addition to contributing to the fight against bacterial resistance. Therefore, a clean and sustainable high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method has been developed for evaluating ceftriaxone stability in pharmaceutical product. A Zorbax SB C18 (150 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm) column was maintained at 25°C; the mobile phase consisted of purified water acidified with 0.2% orthophosphoric acid and ethanol (87: 13, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.9 mL min-1. The detection wavelength was set at 260 nm. The method was linear over a concentration range of 20-120 μg mL-1, precise with relative standard deviations <2%, robust in the event of minor changes to the original method conditions, accurate with recovery between 98% and 102% and specific to degradation products. The retention time for ceftriaxone sodium was ~4.6 minutes. This work shows an ecologically correct option by HPLC method for the evaluation of ceftriaxone sodium in pharmaceutical product, as well as its stability, which addresses the requirements of the current green and sustainable analytical chemistry., (© The Author(s) 2021. - Abstract
Topical therapy is the first choice for the treatment of mild to moderate acne and all-trans retinoic acid is one of the most used drugs. The combination of retinoids and antimicrobials is an innovative approach for acne therapy. Recently, lauric acid, a saturated fatty acid, has shown strong antimicrobial activity against Propionibacterium acnes. However, topical application of retinoic acid is followed by high incidence of side-effects, including erythema and irritation. Solid lipid nanoparticles represent an alternative to overcome these side-effects. This work aims to develop solid lipid nanoparticles loaded with retinoic acid and lauric acid and evaluate their antibacterial activity. The influence of lipophilic stearylamine on the characteristics of solid lipid nanoparticles was investigated. Solid lipid nanoparticles were characterized for size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction. The in vitro inhibitory activity of retinoic acid-lauric acid-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles was evaluated against Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. High encapsulation efficiency was obtained at initial time (94 ± 7% and 100 ± 4% for retinoic acid and lauric acid, respectively) and it was demonstrated that lauric acid-loaded-solid lipid nanoparticles provided the incorporation of retinoic acid. However, the presence of stearylamine is necessary to ensure stability of encapsulation. Moreover, retinoic acid-lauric acid-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles showed growth inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis, Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus, representing an interesting alternative for the topical therapy of acne vulgaris.
