vol. 70 no. 5, Sorority parties continue as rush draws to a close: Alpha Chi Omega gives independent women a look at a "Heaven Party" in Florida Southern sorority houses. The "stars" didn't hold up, as nature prevailed and the rains brought screams and laughter from the open-air patio. (p.1) -- MME. ROSELLE (p.1) -- Miss Alpha Omicron Pi (Judy Freed) is crowned Miss Rose Pageant of '56 in a party given for the independent women. The theme of the party depicted the annual crowning of "Miss America." (p.1). TRESCA (p.2). A United Nations Day gesture: Two members of the International Club of Florida Southern College, Pablo Gomez of Cuba and Jeannette Maysoon Liong of Indonesia (at right, present a United Nations flag to Lakeland's City Commission on UN day. Others, from left: Mayo, Mac Cunningham, Commissioners W. Y. Wooten, S. Scott Kelly, and Dr. James West. (p.5). MAINES (p.6). Volleyball match play: Action at the net: Sigma Alpha Epsilon A (foreground) defeated Theta Chi, 15 to 13, in this League II game. (p.7). Early in the week Kenneth Hair turned out this sketch in approximately two hours.
