Abstract

vol. 70 no. 3
The campaign comes to FSC: Bob Skinner, president of the Florida Southern College Political Union, presents a certificate for achievement in public welfare to California's Gov. Goodwin Knight during the governor's visit to the campus. At right, Mrs. Knight. (p.1) / Photo by Paul Wille -- Off the drawing board, coming into reality: the Music Building: A visualization of the $500,000 Music Building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, for which ground will be broken next week. (p.1). A grant comes to FSC: President Spivey presents a check for $1,000 to Dr. Boris Sokoloff, director of Florida Southern's A. P. Cooke Memorial Cancer Laboratory. The check, from the Leukemia Society of New York, represents the grant from the society to the laboratory for a research project in Leukemia. (p.3). Fashions beside the waterdome: "Fashion Firsts For Campus Life," a showing of smart new campus wear for men and women, drew hundreds of students and members of the faculty to the waterdome. In this bridal group, left to right, are Mrs. I. G. Vann, Miss Sally Roberts, Miss Virginia Kennedy, Mrs. Imogene Wright, Miss Judith Freed, Jim Tipton, Mrs. Ethel Haley, and Miss Juanita Walden. The show, produced by Maas Brothers was sponsored by Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. (p.4) / Photo by Paul Wille -- Smith (p.4). Headwork for cage players: Varsity coach Thomas Greene (center) and Freshman coach Bill Woods (at right) discuss, with three candidates for the basketball team, a play to be used by Southern this season. The three aspirants, from left to right, are: Neil Ditrick, Dale Collins, and Hank Barlowe. (p.7).
The campaign comes to FSC: Bob Skinner, president of the Florida Southern College Political Union, presents a certificate for achievement in public welfare to California's Gov.
