In order to scientifically and accurately calculate the water surface evaporation in the central Yunnan region， based on the monthly meteorological data from Yuxi Meteorological Station near the 'Three Lakes' basin in Central Yunnan from 2014 to 2021， the effectiveness of the FAO PPP-17 Penman formula in calculating water evaporation in this area and the error sources is analyzed through comparative analysis and correlation analysis.On this basis， aiming at the sources of calculation errors and the characteristics of seasonal changes， the water surface reflectance and the solar radiation parameters in the Penman formula are dynamically modified with the season changes using Morton empirical formula and other methods.Furthermore， based on the principle of heat balance， a new estimation model of water surface heat flux was derived by using error inverse derivation.The water surface heat flux term is added to the FAO PPP-17 Penman formula to correct the heat balance of the water surface.The results showed that： （1） The water evaporation calculated by the FAO PPP-17 Penman formula in the study area was generally overestimated， with a mean relative error of +15.2%.The error has seasonal characteristics of small in winter and large in summer， and periodic variation characteristics which is similar to a sine curve.The calculation error mainly stems from the inappropriate value of solar short-wave radiation parameters in the formula and the neglect of the influence of water surface heat flux， resulting in an imbalance in the heat budget.（2） After dynamically improving the parameters of the FAO PPP-17 Penman formula and adding the water surface heat flux to it， the calculation accuracy is significantly improved.Compared to the unrevised version， the accuracy with relative errors within ± 5%， ± 10%， and ± 20% increased by 40.6%， 42.7%， and 32.3%， respectively.The results of off-site tests show that the optimized Penman equation exhibits high fitting accuracy in the ‘Three Lakes’ basin of central Yunnan， and the model's accuracy with relative errors within ±10% is over 75%.（3） This study developed a nonlinear estimation model for water surface heat flux， which can reasonably simulate the nonlinear response of water storage heat to seasonal variations and water surface radiation intensity.Furthermore， the model has demonstrated satisfactory results in evaporation calculations within the "Three Lakes" region.

Abstract Aims The present study aims to develop a nano-delivery system that encapsulates berberine (BBR) into PLGA-based nanoparticles (BPL-NPs), to treat ulcerative colitis (UC). Furthermore, the therapeutic efficacy and molecular targeting mechanisms of BPL-NPs in the management of UC are thoroughly examined. Methods Emulsion solvent-driven methods were used to self-assemble BBR and PLGA into nanoparticles, resulting in the development of the nano-delivery system (BPL-NPs). The therapeutic effectiveness of BPL-NPs was evaluated using a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced model of ulcerative colitis in mice and a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced model of inflammation in THP-1 macrophages. The interaction between Mφs and NCM-460 cells was investigated using a co-culture system. The molecular targeting ability of BPL-NPs in the treatment of UC was validated through in vitro as well as in vivo experiments. Results The BPL-NPs demonstrated a particle size of 184 ± 22.4 nm, enhanced dispersibility in deionized water, and a notable encapsulation efficiency of 31.1 ± 0.2%. The use of BPL-NPs clearly improved the clinical symptoms and pathological changes associated with UC in mice while also ensuring minimal toxicity. In addition, BPL-NPs improved intestinal epithelial cell apoptosis and enhanced the function of the intestinal barrier by inhibiting M1 Mφs infiltration and IL-6 signaling pathway in mice with UC. Furthermore, the BPL-NPs were found to selectively target the IL-6/IL-6R axis during the M1 Mφs-induced apoptosis of NCM460 cells. Conclusion The BPL-NPs were confirmed to harbor anti-inflammatory effects both in vitro and in vivo, along with enhanced water solubility and bioactivity. In addition, the precise targeting of the IL-6/IL-6R axis was confirmed as the mechanism by which the BPL-NPs exerted therapeutic effects in UC, as demonstrated in both in vitro as well as in vivo studies. Abstract Background Robotic computer-assisted implant surgery (r-CAIS) is a revolutionary innovation in oral implantation; however, the clinical feasibility of r-CAIS for immediate implant placement (IIP) in posterior teeth has not been verified. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of r-CAIS for IIP in posterior tooth regions. Methods Patients with posterior teeth to be extracted and indicated to undergo r-CAIS were evaluated. The patients had positioning markers installed in the oral cavity and underwent cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Subsequently, minimally invasive tooth extractions were performed, and an individualised surgical plan was generated in the robotic software. After marker registration, implantation surgery was performed by the robotic arm under the supervision and assistance of the surgeons. Finally, the deviations between the planned and placed implants were evaluated based on preoperative and postoperative CBCT data. Results A total of 12 patients were evaluated. No adverse events occurred during the surgery. The mean global coronal, global apical, and angular deviations were 0.46 ± 0.15 mm (95%CI:0.36 to 0.56 mm), 0.46 ± 0.14 mm (95%CI:0.37 to 0.54 mm), and 1.05 ± 0.55° (0.69 to 1.40°), respectively. Conclusions Under the limited conditions of this study, the r-CAIS exhibited high accuracy in posterior teeth IIP surgery. Further multicentre randomised controlled studies are required to confirm the feasibility of this technology.

Abstract Severe friction on wheel/rail contact interface in the process of a train emergency braking can cause significant thermal and mechanical phenomena. Obvious friction heat and serious material damage will appear on the contact surface. In this article, the variation law of temperature and surface damage during a wheel sliding contact process are investigated. To achieve the research objective, a three-dimensional (3D) thermo-mechanical coupling contact finite element model (FEM) is established, and the temperature-dependent material parameters are used. The FEM is adopted to analyze the temperature distribution law on the contact surface. At the same time, a sliding contact testing machine is used to study the damage of materials in the contact area during the sliding contact. The study results indicate, the highest temperature of wheel and rail material is respectively 1014 ℃ and 461.8 ℃ during sliding contact. High temperatures are located at the subsurface and surface areas of contact region. When the distance to contact surface exceeds 1.4 mm, the temperature changes slightly. The types of damage on wheel surface are grooves and material peeling, while the flaky spalling, corrosive pitting, adhesion and grooves appear on the rail surface. Meanwhile, many cracks can be found on the contact surface, which is a major factor leading to material damage. The research results of this article are of great significance for understanding the thermal and mechanical damage of wheel/rail materials.

Abstract Background Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is considered the gold standard for diagnosing portal hypertension (PHT). Laparoscopic splenectomy plus esophagogastric devascularization (LSED) is an important surgery for treating PHT. However, the variation trend of HVPG after surgery is not clear. Moreover, whether HVPG can provide precise prognostic information for patients undergoing surgery remains to be further studied. This study aimed to investigate the independent prognostic value of HVPG in LSED. Methods From January 2016 to March 2023, 135 patients with PHT underwent LSED at our hospital were retrospectively evaluated. We analyzed the correlations between clinical indicators and history of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). Among them, 57 patients remeasured postoperative HVPG. We further investigated the postoperative alterations of HVPG and correlative factors, as well as the relationship between the HVPG and postoperative UGIB. Results In this study, we found that 94 patients with preoperative UGIB (16.27 ± 5.73 mmHg) had a higher baseline HVPG than the other 41 patients without (14.02 ± 5.90 mmHg) (p = 0.04). The mean postoperative HVPG significantly decreased (-3.57 ± 8.09 mmHg, p = 0.001) compared to the baseline, and 66% of patients (38/57) experienced a decreased HVPG-response after surgery. The baseline HVPG and preoperative CTP class B were associated with the decreased HVPG-response (p20% from baseline exhibited better recurrent hemorrhage-free survival rates than those without (log-rank, p = 0.013). Conclusion We found that LSED led to a significantly decreased HVPG, and patients with postoperative HVPG decreased >20% obtained better UGIB-free survival benefits than those without.

1D/2D g-C3N5/g-C3N4 heterojunction photocatalysts were prepared by a direct thermal polymerization method using melamine and 3-amino-1，2，4-triazole as raw materials. The crystal form， chemical composition， morphology and photoelectric chemical properties of the photocatalytic materials were characterized by XRD， XPS， SEM. Photocatalytic activity of 1D/2D g-C3N5/g-C3N4 heterojunction photocatalyst was studied using methyl orange（MO）as target pollutant and 500 W xenon lamp as visible light source. The active substances of the system were studied by active substance capture experiment and ESR characterization. The results show that the disordered stacking of one-dimensional g-C3N5 nanorods and two-dimensional g-C3N4 nanosheets increases the number of active sites. The formation of Z-scheme heterojunction between g-C3N5 and g-C3N4 improves the absorption intensity and spectral range of visible light， and inhibits the recombination of photoelectrons and holes. The superposition of π-π * conjugated systems similar to g-C3N5 and g-C3N4 reduces the mass transfer resistance of charge transfer and improves its photocatalytic activity. Under visible light irradiation for 30 min， 20 mg of 1D/2D g-C3N5/g-C3N4 photocatalytic material almost completely degraded 50 mL of 10 mg/L MO solution， and the apparent rate constant is 0.14836 min-1. After 5 cycles， the photocatalytic degradation rate of 1D/2D g-C3N5/g-C3N4 photocatalytic material for MO is 92.2%， indicating its good stability. The capture experiment of active substances and ESR characterization show that the main active substances in the photocatalytic degradation of MO system by g-C3N5/g-C3N4 photocatalyst are •O2- and h+， and the photocatalytic degradation of MO was a complex bond breaking and oxidation process.

Abstract By analyzing e + e − annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb −1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, the first observation of the semileptonic decays D 0 → K S 0 π − π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^0\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^{-}{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ and D + → K S 0 π + π − e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ is reported. In the hypothesis that all events correspond to K 1(1270) decays, the branching fractions are measured to be B D 0 → K 1 1270 − → K S 0 π − π 0 e + ν e = 1.69 − 0.46 + 0.53 ± 0.15 × 10 − 4 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^0\to {K}_1{(1270)}^{-}\left(\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^{-}{\pi}^0\right){e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left({1.69}_{-0.46}^{+0.53}\pm 0.15\right)\times {10}^{-4} $$ and B D + → K ¯ 1 1270 0 → K S 0 π + π − e + ν e = 1.47 − 0.40 + 0.45 ± 0.14 × 10 − 4 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}_1{(1270)}^0\left(\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right){e}^{+}{\nu}^e\right)=\left({1.47}_{-0.40}^{+0.45}\pm 0.14\right)\times {10}^{-4} $$ with statistical significance of 5.4σ and 5.6σ, respectively. Abstract Interpreting the clinical significance of putative splice-altering variants outside canonical splice sites remains difficult without time-intensive experimental studies. To address this, we introduce Parallel Splice Effect Sequencing (ParSE-seq), a multiplexed assay to quantify variant effects on RNA splicing. We first apply this technique to study hundreds of variants in the arrhythmia-associated gene SCN5A. Variants are studied in ‘minigene’ plasmids with molecular barcodes to allow pooled variant effect quantification. We perform experiments in two cell types, including disease-relevant induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs). The assay strongly separates known control variants from ClinVar, enabling quantitative calibration of the ParSE-seq assay. Using these evidence strengths and experimental data, we reclassify 29 of 34 variants with conflicting interpretations and 11 of 42 variants of uncertain significance. In addition to intronic variants, we show that many synonymous and missense variants disrupted RNA splicing. Two splice-altering variants in the assay also disrupt splicing and sodium current when introduced into iPSC-CMs by CRISPR-Cas9 editing. ParSE-seq provides high-throughput experimental data for RNA-splicing to support precision medicine efforts and can be readily adopted to study other loss-of-function genotype-phenotype relationships.

Abstract Background Older adults are vulnerable to social isolation due to declining physical and cognitive function, decreased interpersonal interactions, and reduced outdoor activities after retirement. This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model to assess the risk of social isolation among older adults in China. Methods Using data from the 2011 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). The study cohort was randomly divided into training and validation groups in a 70:30 ratio. We used least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis with tenfold cross-validation to identify optimal predictive factors and examined the correlates of social isolation using logistic regression. A nomogram was constructed for the predictive model, and its accuracy was assessed using calibration curves. The predictive performance of the model was assessed using area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results From the 2011 CHARLS database, 4,747 older adults were included in the final analysis, of whom 1,654 (34.8%) experienced social isolation. Multifactorial logistic regression identified educational level, marital status, gender, physical activity, physical self -maintenance ability, and number of children as predictive factors for social isolation. The predictive model achieved an AUC of 0.739 (95%CI = 0.722–0.756) in the training set and 0.708 (95%CI = 0.681–0.735) in the validation set. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test yielded P values of 0.111 and 0.324, respectively (both P > 0.05), indicating significant agreement between the nomogram and observed outcomes. The nomogram showed excellent predictive ability according to ROC and DCA. Conclusions The predictive model developed to assess the risk of social isolation in the Chinese older adults shows promising utility for early screening and intervention by clinical healthcare professionals.

Objective To explore the predictive factors of ICU-acquired weakness in critically ill elderly patients and to investigate their predictive value in clinical diagnosis. Methods An observational cohort study was conducted on patients admitted to the department of critical care medicine at Beijing Fu xing Hospital Capital Medical University, from June 2017 to October 2018. Muscle strength was assessed using the medical research council score on the day the patients regained consciousness. Based on the clinical muscle strength assessment results, patients were divided into the experimental group (muscle strength score < 48 scores) and the control group (≥48 scores) . Relevant factors for both groups were collected and compared. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to assess the independent risk factors for ICU-acquired weakness in critically ill elderly patients. The predictive value of each indicator for ICU-acquired weakness on elderly patients was evaluated using ROC curves. Results A total of 62 awake elderly critically ill patients were collected. Among them, 30 patients diagnosed with ICU-acquired weakness (prevalence rate of 48.39% ) were designated as the experimental group, and 32 patients without ICU-acquired weakness were designated as the control group. Significant differences were found between the two groups in terms of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE) Ⅱ scores, sequential organ failure assessment scores, duration of systemic inflammatory response syndrome, duration of sepsis, septic shock, duration of shock, multiple organ dysfunction and its duration, use of norepinephrine and its duration, duration of mechanical ventilation, use of neuromuscular blocking agents and their duration, hypocalcemia, and electrolyte disturbances (P < 0.05) . Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that APACHE Ⅱ score and duration of norepinephrine use were independent risk factors for ICU-acquired weakness in elderly critically ill patients (P < 0.05) . The ROC curve suggested that the optimal predictive performance was achieved when norepinephrine was used for more than 3 days and the APACHE Ⅱ score was greater than 20 points. Conclusion In elderly critically ill patients, APACHE Ⅱ score and duration of norepinephrine use are independent risk factors and good predictive indicators for ICU-acquired weakness.

Abstract Background Recently, the C3-epimer of 25-hydroxyvitamin D [C3-epi-25(OH)D] has become a topic of interest among 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] metabolites. Although it can lead to an overestimation of vitamin D storage, its relationship with disease occurrence remains controversial, possibly related to the great extent of tracking of 25(OH)D by C3-epi-25(OH)D over time. This study aimed to investigate the differential performance of C3-epi-25(OH)D3 and its percentage [%C3-epi-25(OH)D3] with respect to 20 common paediatric diseases. Methods This study involved 805 healthy children and adolescents and 2962 patients with common paediatric diseases. We investigated sex, age, and seasonal differences in C3-epi-25(OH)D3 and %C3-epi-25(OH)D3 levels; their variations on 20 common paediatric diseases; and their degree of correlation with 25(OH)D3 levels and various diseases. Results Among the healthy underage participants, C3-epi-25(OH)D3 and %C3-epi-25(OH)D3 changed similarly, with no sex differences. Abstract Background Our previous genome‑wide association studies (GWAS) have suggested rs912304 in 14q12 as a suggestive risk variant for type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, the association between this risk region and T1D subgroups and related clinical risk features, the underlying causal functional variant(s), putative candidate gene(s), and related mechanisms are yet to be elucidated. Methods We assessed the association between variant rs912304 and T1D, as well as islet autoimmunity and islet function, stratified by the diagnosed age of 12. We used epigenome bioinformatics analyses, dual luciferase reporter assays, and expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analyses to prioritize the most likely functional variant and potential causal gene. We also performed functional experiments to evaluate the role of the causal gene on islet function and its related mechanisms. The effects of Nb and Ni contents on the precipitation of the Ni16Nb6Si7-G phase and the resulting hardening behavior in Fe–20Cr ferritic alloys were systematically investigated using micro-hardness, electron microscopy, and atom probe techniques. The results demonstrate that an optimal Nb content of ∼0.75 wt. % promotes the precipitation of the Ni16Nb6Si7-G phase, leading to a maximum micro-hardness of approximately 430 H V when aged at 560 °C for 24 h. Excess Nb content (>0.75 wt. %) introduces the Fe2Nb-Laves phase at grain boundaries and within the grains, which competes with the G-phase for precipitation. Conversely, an increase in Ni content effectively raises the dissolution temperature of the Ni16Nb6Si7-G phase to approximately 850 °C. The austenite phase begins to form when the Ni content exceeds 4 wt. %. Finally, the strengthening effect of the Ni16Nb6Si7-G phase and its underlying competition precipitation with the Fe2Nb-Laves phase as well as the possible benefit of inducing austenite phase was discussed in the context of developing 20Cr ferritic alloys with high strength and good ductility. These findings provide valuable insights into the influence of Nb and Ni contents on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of the newly developed 20Cr alloy, which may be helpful in guiding the design of high performance ferritic alloys by optimizing composition and heat treatment processes.

In this study, a dense WS2 coating was deposited via high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) after solving the glow discharge problem, and it was compared with WS2 coating deposited via radio frequency (RF) sputtering. The latter showed a columnar growth, with a loose and porous microstructure. The columnar crystal growth of the former was inhibited, resulting in a more compact coating structure and a more uniform, flatter and smoother surface. Therefore, the structure and tribological properties of WS2 coating prepared via HiPIMS were investigated under different loads and frictional frequencies. Under low loads (up to 15 N), the coefficient of friction (COF) decreased with polishing wear mechanism. Under a high load of 20 N, the COF rapidly increased, the wear rate was the highest, and the wear mechanism changed from polishing to abrasive wear. At low frequencies (5 and 10 Hz), the coating had a low and stable COF, good wear resistance and the wear mechanism was abrasive wear. At high frequencies (≥15 Hz), the COF and wear rates rapidly increased and the wear mechanism changed from abrasive to adhesive wear and plastic fracture. However, the friction and wear rates were similar across different wear mechanisms.

Background The AQP4-AS1/miR-4476-ALOX15 regulatory axis was discovered in previous studies. We aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of the ferroptosis-related regulator ALOX15 by AQP4-AS1 and miR-4476 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and find new targets for clinical treatment.

Abstract Innate immune activation is critical for initiating hepatic inflammation during nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) progression. However, the mechanisms by which immunoregulatory molecules recognize lipogenic, fibrotic, and inflammatory signals remain unclear. Here, we show that high-fat diet (HFD)-induced oxidative stress activates Foxo1, YAP, and Notch1 signaling in hepatic macrophages. Macrophage Foxo1 deficiency (Foxo1M-KO) ameliorated hepatic inflammation, steatosis, and fibrosis, with reduced STING, TBK1, and NF-κB activation in HFD-challenged livers. However, Foxo1 and YAP double knockout (Foxo1/YAPM-DKO) or Foxo1 and Notch1 double knockout (Foxo1/Notch1M-DKO) promoted STING function and exacerbated HFD-induced liver injury. Interestingly, Foxo1M-KO strongly reduced TGF-β1 release from palmitic acid (PA)- and oleic acid (OA)-stimulated Kupffer cells and decreased Col1α1, CCL2, and Timp1 expression but increased MMP1 expression in primary hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) after coculture with Kupffer cells. Notably, PA and OA challenge in Kupffer cells augmented LIMD1 and LATS1 colocalization and interaction, which induced YAP nuclear translocation. Foxo1M-KO activated PGC-1α and increased nuclear YAP activity, modulating mitochondrial biogenesis. Using chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) coupled with massively parallel sequencing (ChIP-Seq) and in situ RNA hybridization, we found that NICD colocalizes with YAP and targets Mb21d1 (cGAS), while YAP functions as a novel coactivator of the NICD, which is crucial for reprogramming STING function in NASH progression. These findings highlight the importance of the macrophage Foxo1–YAP–Notch1 axis as a key molecular regulator that controls lipid metabolism, inflammation, and innate immunity in NASH.

In response to the challenges posed by frequent, widespread, long-lasting, large-scale, severe, and difficult-to-control debris flows in strong earthquake areas, this study, based on the results of the National Key R&D Program, investigates dozens of typical mega debris flow gullies in these regions. Through test verification and demonstration engineering application, the characteristics of typical debris flow ditches and their prevention and control engineering effects were studied, leading to the construction of a comprehensive technical system for the prevention and control of mega debris flows in strong earthquake areas. A key technical system for exploration, design, prevention, and control of mega debris flows in strong earthquake areas was formed. The exploration and design system introduced new technologies for identifying earthquake-induced fracturing sources and novel approaches for determining blocking coefficients based on existing exploration technologies. According to the morphology of debris flow valleys in seismic areas, debris flows are classified as narrow and steep or wide and gentle. The key technology system for prevention and control was established to comprehensively discuss and practice key technologies for preventing and controlling debris flows in different valley morphologies. Considering the characteristics of debris flow valleys in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of both narrow and steep or wide and gentle debris flow valleys, a combination of various comprehensive prevention and control measures was proposed. This led to the establishment of a hierarchical control system for major debris flows in seismic areas, from controlling the source to the process and ultimately mitigating disasters. This system not only provides technical support for comprehensive prevention and control of debris flows in seismic areas but also serves as a reference for comprehensive prevention and control of debris flows in non-seismic areas.

Abstract This paper proposes a predictive power control strategy for the three‐phase, six‐switch Vienna rectifier without grid voltage sensors to reduce the hardware cost and complexity of a high‐power PWM rectifier system. Firstly, an algorithm for calculating the AC‐side voltage in the αβ coordinate system is derived according to the operating principle of the Vienna rectifier, and a voltage observer is constructed by combining a second‐order low‐pass filter to estimate the grid voltage. Secondly, a soft start method is designed to solve the problem that the rectifier is prone to inrush current when it is started. Furthermore, the control method of grid voltage sensorless is combined with predictive power control with good dynamic characteristics and simple parameter settings to form the control strategy proposed in this paper. Finally, simulation analysis and experimental verification are carried out on the proposed control strategy. Simulation and experimental results show that the grid voltage estimation has high accuracy, a good surge current suppression effect, unit power factor operation, low input current harmonic content, and good dynamic and steady‐state performance. Therefore, the correctness and effectiveness of the strategy proposed in this paper are verified.

Abstract Background Rye (Secale cereale L.) is the most widely used related species in wheat genetic breeding, and the introduction of its chromosome fragments into the wheat genome through distant hybridization is essential for enriching the genetic diversity of wheat. Rapid and accurate detection of rye chromatin in the wheat genome is important for distant hybridization. Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are widely distributed in the genome, and SSRs of different species often exhibit species-specific characteristics. Results In this study, genome-wide SSRs in rye were identified, and their characteristics were outlined. A total of 997,027 SSRs were selected, with a density of 115.97 SSRs/Mb on average. There was no significant difference in the number of SSRs on each chromosome. The number of SSRs on 2R was the highest (15.29%), and the number of SSRs on 1R was the lowest (13.02%). The number of SSRs on each chromosome is significantly correlated with chromosome length. The types of SSR motifs were abundant, and each type of SSR was distributed on 7 chromosomes of rye. The numbers of mononucleotide simple sequence repeats (MNRs), dinucleotide simple sequence repeats (DNRs), and trinucleotide simple sequence repeats (TNRs) were the greatest, accounting for 46.90%, 18.37%, and 22.64% of the total number, respectively. Among the MNRs, the number of G/C repeats and the number of 10 bp motifs were the greatest, accounting for 26.24% and 31.32% of the MNRs, respectively. Based on the SSR sequences, a total of 657 pairs of primers were designed. The PCR results showed that 119 pairs of these primers were rye-specific and could effectively detect rye chromatin in the wheat genome. Moreover, 86 pairs of the primers could also detect one or more specific rye chromosomes. Conclusion These results lay a foundation for both genomic evolution studies of rye and molecular breeding in wheat.

Abstract The existence of striations, and scratches in Abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting surface necessitates an exploration of these features for enhancing the cutting accuracy of AWJ machining. This article investigates surface roughness and micro-scratch morphology characteristics on brass cutting surfaces. According to the variation law of surface roughness values, the cutting section can be divided into three regions: the initial region, smooth region, and rough region. Numerous micron-scale scratches were observed in the cutting section. The scratch length, width, and depth values all show an increasing trend as the cutting depth increases, with the scratch length experiencing the greatest growth and variability. The influence of position and traverse speed on scratch size was studied using variance analysis. Furthermore, the length and width of the scratches on the cutting surface are significantly influenced by their position, accounting for 89.19% and 81.13%, respectively. Traverse speed had a minor effect on scratch length and width, accounting for 0.01% and 2.64% respectively. The depth of the scratches is influenced by their position on the cutting surface at a rate of 41.12%, while traverse speed had an impact of 38.10%. Finally, a mathematical method based on standard scores was proposed to assess the quality of the cutting section based on micro-scratch dimension.

Abstract Nanocrystalline metallic materials have the merit of high strength but usually suffer from poor ductility and rapid grain coarsening, limiting their practical application. Here, we introduce a core-shell nanostructure in a multicomponent alloy to address these challenges simultaneously, achieving a high tensile strength of 2.65 GPa, a large uniform elongation of 17%, and a high thermal stability of 1173 K. Our strategy relies on an ordered superlattice structure that excels in dislocation accumulation, encased by a ≈3 nm disordered face-centered-cubic nanolayer acting as dislocation sources. The ordered superlattice with high anti-phase boundary energy retards dislocation motions, promoting their interaction and storage within the nanograins. The disordered interfacial nanolayer promotes dislocation emission and effectively accommodates the plastic strain at grain boundaries, preventing intergranular cracking. Consequently, the order-disorder core-shell nanostructure exhibits enhanced work-hardening capability and large ductility. Moreover, such core-shell nanostructure exhibits high coarsening resistance at elevated temperatures, enabling it high thermal stability. Such a design strategy holds promise for developing high-performance materials.

To elucidate the development patterns and influencing factors of natural fractures in deep-buried tight oil reservoirs, a comprehensive evaluation was conducted using a large amount of core samples, thin section, physical property data, imaging and conventional logging, water injection pressure testing and other data. The focus was on the tight oil reservoirs within the Ⅱ-Ⅵ oil layers of the third member of the Paleogene Hetaoyuan Formation in the southeastern An'peng area of the Biyang Depression, Nanxiang Basin. These oil formations, deposited in fan-delta front environment, are characterized by a high content of rock debris, indicating proximal deposition. A strong positive correlation between reservoir porosity and permeability was observed. Among the various sandstone lithologies, fractures predominantly developed in fine sandstone, followed by siltstone, while gravelly sandstone generally lacked fractures. High-angle and vertical fractures were predominant, constituting 87.8% of the total, while low-angle oblique and horizontal fractures accounted for 7.3% and 4.9%, respectively. The main controlling factors for fracture development in these tight reservoirs included lithology, depositional microfacies, and local structures. Thin and fine-grained single or composite sand bodies typically had more deve-loped fractures, particularly in front channel, channel flank, mouth bar, and outer edge of distal bars. Conversely, fractures were less developed in sheet sands or delta front microfacies. Moreover, fractures primarily formed at structural inflection points, predominantly at the tops and wings of forward structures and were primarily oriented along the WE and NE directions, followed by the NW direction. These fractures predominantly formed during the Neogene depression period (late Himalayan). Fractures significantly influence water channeling in tight oil reservoirs, necessitating enhanced dynamic and static monitoring of the degree, extent, and orientation of fracture development.

Abstract Background Malnutrition is common in patients with chronic cardiovascular disease and is associated with significantly higher all-cause mortality. Approximately one-third of patients with heart failure are malnourished. However, the relationship between malnutrition and idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) remains unclear. This study aimed to clarify the prognostic value of malnutrition in patients with IPAH. Methods A total of 432 consecutive participants with IPAH were included in this study between March 2013 and August 2021. Three common malnutrition assessment tools, including the geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI), prognostic nutritional index (PNI), and controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score, were used to evaluate the nutritional status of patients with IPAH. The relationships between the malnutrition tools and long-term adverse outcomes were determined using restricted cubic splines and multivariate Cox regression models. Results During a mean follow-up of 3.1 years, 158 participants experienced clinical worsening or all-cause death. Abstract With a sample of (10087 ± 44) × 106 J/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, we analyze the decays η′ → π + π − l + l − (l = e, μ) via the process J/ψ → γη′. The branching fractions are measured to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − e + e − ) = (2.45 ± 0.02(stat.) ± 0.08(syst.)) × 10 −3 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − μ + μ − ) = (2.16 ± 0.12(stat.) ± 0.06(syst.)) × 10 −5, and the ratio is B η ′ → π + π − e + e − B η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 113.4 ± 0.9 stat . ± 3.7 syst . $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)}=113.4\pm 0.9\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 3.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ . Background/Aims: Low educational attainment is a well-established risk factor for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in developed areas. However, the association between educational attainment and the risk of NAFLD is less clear in China. Methods: A cross-sectional study including over 200,000 Chinese adults across mainland China was conducted. Information on education level and lifestyle factors were obtained through standard questionnaires, while NAFLD and advanced fibrosis were diagnosed using validated formulas. Outcomes included the risk of NAFLD in the general population and high probability of fibrosis among patients with NAFLD. Logistic regression analysis was employed to estimate the risk of NAFLD and fibrosis across education levels. A causal mediation model was used to explore the potential mediators. Results: Comparing with those receiving primary school education, the multi-adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for NAFLD were 1.28 (1.16 to 1.41) for men and 0.94 (0.89 to 0.99) for women with college education after accounting for body mass index. When considering waist circumference, the odds ratios (95% CIs) were 0.94 (0.86 to 1.04) for men and 0.88 (0.80 to 0.97) for women, respectively. The proportions mediated by general and central obesity were 51.00% and 68.04% for men, while for women the proportions were 48.58% and 32.58%, respectively. Furthermore, NAFLD patients with lower educational attainment showed an incremental increased risk of advanced fibrosis in both genders. Conclusion : s: In China, a low education level was associated with a higher risk of prevalent NAFLD in women, as well as high probability of fibrosis in both genders.

Abstract We measured the Born cross sections for the process e + e − → ωη′ at 22 center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We observed a resonant structure with a statistical significance of 9.6σ. A Breit-Wigner fit determines its mass to be M R = (2153 ± 30 ± 31) MeV/c 2 and its width to be Γ R = (167 ± 77 ± 7) MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract Pile is a common foundation on the slope, which poses a serious threat to the construction and operation if the slope deformation and causes landslide. In this study, a model device of pile foundation on landslide was independently developed by relative displacement loading between pile and soil to explore the influence of landslide deformation on pile and analysis the soil failure rule and the deformation characteristics of pile in different stages of landslide deformation, a few model tests were completed including the relative displacement between soil and pile from 1 to 17 cm, and the pile diameter and the modulus of slide bed were also considered. The results indicated that: the evolution process of landslide deformation with pile foundation on could be divided into four stages including soil compaction, cracks growth, yield stage, and failure stage; ratios of the maximum soil pressure and bending moment growth from the soil compaction stage to the cracks growth stage to the total growth in these four stages are both exceeding 60%; the soil pressure increases with the increase of pile diameter and sliding bed modulus. Therefore, it is best to effectively monitor and control the landslide in the initial soil compression stage that in soil compaction stage and methods such as increasing pile foundations or reinforcing the sliding bed can be used for protection.

Global warming is causing glaciers to retreat and glacial lakes to expand in the Himalayas, which amplifies the risk of glacial lake outburst debris flows (GLODFs) and poses a significant threat to downstream lives and infrastructures. However, the complex interplay between GLODF occurrences and associated indicators, coupled with the lack of a comprehensive susceptibility indicator system that considers the entire GLODF process, presents a substantial challenge in assessing GLODF susceptibility in the Himalayas. This study proposes a process-driven GLODF susceptibility assessment indicator system responding to climate change that considers the complete process of GLODF formation, incorporating relevant parameters about upstream, themselves, and downstream of glacial lakes. Furthermore, to mitigate subjective factors associated with traditional evaluation methods, we developed three novel hybrid machine-learning models by integrating classic machine-learning algorithms with the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) to delineate the distribution of GLODF susceptibility in the Himalayas. All the hybrid models effectively predicted the GLODFs occurrence, with the WOA-SVC model demonstrating the highest prediction accuracy. Approximately 34% of the catchments exhibit high and very high susceptibility levels, primarily concentrated along the north and south sides of the Himalayan ridge, particularly in the eastern and central Himalayas. Indicators capturing the physical formation process of hazards, such as topographic potential (highest relative importance value of 40%), can precisely identify GLODF. A total of 128 catchments pose potential transboundary threats, with 24 classified as having a very high susceptibility level and 25 as having a high susceptibility level. Notably, the border region between China and Nepal is a prominent hotspot for transboundary threats of GLODF. These findings can provide valuable clues for disaster prevention, mitigation, and cross-border coordination in the Himalayas.

Abstract Our main objective was to use machine learning methods to identify significant structural factors associated with pain severity in knee osteoarthritis patients. Additionally, we assessed the potential of various classes of imaging data using machine learning techniques to gauge knee pain severity. The data of semi-quantitative assessments of knee radiographs, semi-quantitative assessments of knee magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and MRI images from 567 individuals in the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI) were utilized to train a series of machine learning models. Models were constructed using five machine learning methods: random forests (RF), support vector machines (SVM), logistic regression (LR), decision tree (DT), and Bayesian (Bayes). Employing tenfold cross-validation, we selected the best-performing models based on the area under the curve (AUC). The study results indicate no significant difference in performance among models using different imaging data. Subsequently, we employed a convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract features from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and class activation mapping (CAM) was utilized to generate saliency maps, highlighting regions associated with knee pain severity. A radiologist reviewed the images, identifying specific lesions colocalized with the CAM. The review of 421 knees revealed that effusion/synovitis (30.9%) and cartilage loss (30.6%) were the most frequent abnormalities associated with pain severity. Our study suggests cartilage loss and synovitis/effusion lesions as significant structural factors affecting pain severity in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Furthermore, our study highlights the potential of machine learning for assessing knee pain severity using radiographs.

Abstract To investigate the significant deformation of the surrounding rock within the dynamic pressure zone of the gateroad, this study utilized the tailgate of the 1506 longwall face in Anyang Coal Mine as the engineering context. A combined approach of field measurement and numerical analysis was employed to explore the deformation and failure mechanisms of the surrounding rock under dynamic pressure. The findings indicate that before the exploitation of the 1506 longwall face, there was a notable reduction in stress across the floor and immediate roof, with minimal stress concentration observed in the coal pillar and the entity rib side. The plastic zone surrounding the tailgate was limited, suggesting a high degree of stability in the entry's surrounding rock. However, during the extraction of the 1506 longwall face, the tailgate, extending 60 m ahead of the working face, was subjected to dynamic pressure, leading to a marked increase in stress within the floor, coal pillar, and immediate roof. Stress concentration was more pronounced on the entity rib side than on the pillar rib side. This resulted in significant fissuring and severe deformation of the entry's surrounding rock. The primary failure mechanism involved damage to both the roof and floor corners, with the severity of damage escalating alongside the stress in the surrounding rock. This culminated in the failure of roof corner bolts and anchor cables, thereby compromising the stability of the entry within the dynamic pressure zone.

Abstract A large number of tectonically mixed rock belts and complex tectonic zones are distributed in the southwestern part of China. In these areas, high geostress and tectonic stresses have caused some underground rock layers to be crushed and broken, eventually forming crushed rock zones. Which may undergo creep deformation under long-term loads. The manuscript is based on a typical crushed rock in the southwestern China. Firstly, the factors affecting creep deformation were analysed, and the response law of each influencing factor to rock creep is demonstrated. Then, the theory of uncorroborated measures and hierarchical analysis were used to systematically correlate the factors influencing creep. Thereby, a creep level qualitative evaluating model of crushed rock is established. Finally, this model was used to qualitatively evaluate the creep level of the crushed rock in the study area. It is concluded that the creep level qualitative evaluating of this crushed rock is rated as Class II, which is characterised by a low creep level and small creep deformations (0–10 mm). The research results can provide a reference for the creep analysis of crushed rock and provide a basis for the safe construction of engineering slopes.

Abstract Background Depressive symptoms and sarcopenia, often observed among middle-aged and elderly individuals, are significant health concerns in China, particularly given the country’s rapidly aging population. Depressive symptoms, characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and loss of interest, can significantly impact quality of life. Little is known about the underlying pathway connecting these two conditions. Methods The data for this study were derived from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). Depressive symptoms were evaluated using the Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CSED) scale. Logistic regression analyses were employed to investigate the association between depressive symptoms, activities of daily living (ADL) disability, and sarcopenia, while adjusting for potential confounding factors. The selection of predictor variables, including social activity, chronic diseases, demographic factors, and lifestyle habits, was based on their known associations with mental health, physical functioning and sarcopenia. These variables were included to ensure a comprehensive adjustment for potential confounding factors and to provide a more accurate estimation of the relationship between depressive symptoms and sarcopenia. Additionally, mediation analysis was conducted to assess the mediating role of ADL disability in the relationship between depressive symptoms and sarcopenia. Results A comprehensive study was conducted on a total of 8,238 participants aged 45 years and older, comprising 3,358 men and 4,880 women. In order to screen for meat tenderization treatment methods targeting a large number of eliminated laying hens in poultry farms, the ultrasound combined with calcium chloride and biological enzyme methods were used to tenderize chicken breast meat. The shear force was chosen as the key indicator, and the optimal ultrasound parameters were selected. The texture, water retention, protein distribution, total thiol and amino acid contents as well as the microstructure changes were mainly analyzed. Abstract Radiotherapy (RT), including external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and radionuclide therapy (RNT), realizes physical killing of local tumors and activates systemic anti-tumor immunity. However, these effects need to be further strengthened and the difference between EBRT and RNT should be discovered. Herein, bacterial outer membrane (OM) was biomineralized with manganese oxide (MnO2) to obtain OM@MnO2-PEG nanoparticles for enhanced radio-immunotherapy via amplifying EBRT/RNT-induced immunogenic cell death (ICD) and cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) activation. OM@MnO2-PEG can react with H2O2 and then gradually produce O2, Mn2+ and OM fragments in the tumor microenvironment. The relieved tumor hypoxia improves the radio-sensitivity of tumor cells, resulting in enhanced ICD and DNA damage. Mn2+ together with the DNA fragments in the cytoplasm activate the cGAS-STING pathway, further exhibiting a positive role in various aspects of innate immunity and adaptive immunity. Besides, OM fragments promote tumor antigen presentation and anti-tumor macrophages polarization. More importantly, our study reveals that OM@MnO2-PEG-mediated RNT triggers much stronger cGAS-STING pathway-involved immunotherapy than that of EBRT, owing to the duration difference of RT. Therefore, this study develops a powerful sensitizer of radio-immunotherapy and uncovers some differences between EBRT and RNT in the activation of cGAS-STING pathway-related anti-tumor immunity. Abstract Aims Cardiac hypertrophy, an adaptive response of the heart to stress overload, is closely associated with heart failure and sudden cardiac death. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of chlorogenic acid (CGA) on cardiac hypertrophy and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Methods and results To simulate cardiac hypertrophy, myocardial cells were exposed to isoproterenol (ISO, 10 μM). A rat model of ISO‐induced cardiac hypertrophy was also established. The expression levels of cardiac hypertrophy markers, endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) markers, and apoptosis markers were measured using quantitative reverse transcription PCR and western blotting. The apoptosis level, size of myocardial cells, and heart tissue pathological changes were determined by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick‐end labelling staining, immunofluorescence staining, haematoxylin and eosin staining, and Masson's staining. We found that CGA treatment decreased the size of ISO‐treated H9c2 cells. Moreover, CGA inhibited ISO‐induced up‐regulation of cardiac hypertrophy markers (atrial natriuretic peptide, brain natriuretic peptide, and β‐myosin heavy chain), ERS markers (C/EBP homologous protein, glucose regulatory protein 78, and protein kinase R‐like endoplasmic reticulum kinase), and apoptosis markers (bax and cleaved caspase‐12/9/3) but increased the expression of anti‐apoptosis marker bcl‐2 in a dose‐dependent way (0, 10, 50, and 100 μM). Summary: Background: The PHILA study suggests that pyrotinib, trastuzumab, and docetaxel significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) compared with placebo, trastuzumab, and docetaxel in patients with untreated HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate the synergistic mechanisms of pyrotinib plus trastuzumab and provide further insights for the PHILA trial. Methods: The in vitro activity of combination treatments was assessed through cell biological and biochemical experiments. The in vivo efficacy was evaluated in cell-derived xenografts, a TUBO tumour model, and one clinical case. Next-generation sequencing was performed on circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) from patients in the PHILA trial. Findings: The combination of pyrotinib and trastuzumab more effectively inhibited cell growth than pyrotinib or trastuzumab alone in models of HER2-dependent breast cancer. It potentiated membrane HER2 ubiquitination and downregulation, which resulted in a comprehensive blockade of the HER2 signalling pathway. The pyrotinib-altered membrane HER2 levels had no significant effect on trastuzumab-mediated antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). We further validated the synergistic mechanisms in TUBO tumours and one clinical case, rather than models of HCC1954 cells harbouring the PIK3CA H1047R mutation. Similarly, in our centre cohort of the PHILA study, patients with genetic alterations in the HER2 signalling cascade had significantly shorter median PFS than individuals with the wild-type pathway. Interpretation: Our findings underscore the robust synergy between pyrotinib and trastuzumab in overcoming HER2 dependency and provide a rationale for pyrotinib, trastuzumab, and docetaxel as one of the optimal choices for patients with untreated HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, who are dependent on the HER2 signalling cascade. IntroductionPituitary carcinoma (PC) is an extremely rare tumor of the adenohypophysis, which manifests as craniospinal dissemination and/or systemic metastasis. The diagnosis of PC is particularly difficult, as the clinical diagnosis only can be made after the metastasis is found. Owing to the complex diagnostic process and less effective treatments, the clinical prognosis of PC is usually very poor. Hence, it is of great significance to illustrate the diagnosis and treatment course of PC.MethodsIn this case report, we described a 48-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with pituitary adenoma (PA) initially and then was diagnosed with PC eventually after spinal cord metastasis was found, and we illustrated the treatment course as well. Furthermore, we summarized all the published case reports until now and provided a comprehensive review of the diagnosis, treatment, prediction, and clinical outcome of PC.Results and ConclusionsWe found that most PC patients had adrenocorticotropic hormone/prolactin (ACTH/PRL)-secreting tumors, Ki-67 ≥ 10%, and P53 positivity, which may have the potential to predict the transformation from PA to PC; surgery excision combined with temozolomide (TMZ) and radiotherapy is helpful to prolong the survival of PC patients.

Abstract Background Currently, there is still a lack of valuable neuroimaging markers to assess the clinical severity of stroke patients with small artery occlusion (SAO). Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is a quantitative processing method for neuroradiological diagnostics. Gray matter (GM) volume changes in stroke patients are also proved to be associated with neurological deficits. This study aims to explore the predictive value of QSM and GM volume in neurological deficits of patients with SAO. Methods As neurological deficits, the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) was used. Sixty‐six SAO participants within 24 h of first onset were enrolled and divided into mild and moderate groups based on NIHSS. QSM values of infarct area and GM volume were calculated from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. Two‐sample t‐tests were used to compare differences in QSM value and GM volume between the two groups, and the diagnostic efficacy of the combination of QSM value and GM volume was evaluated. Results The results revealed both the QSM value and GM volume within the infarct area of the moderate group were lower compared to the mild group. Moderate group exhibited lower GM volume in some specific gyrus compared with mild group in the case of voxel‐wise GM volume on whole‐brain voxel level. The support vector machine (SVM) classifier's analysis showed a high power for the combination of QSM value, GM volume within the infarct area, and voxel‐wise GM volume. Conclusion Our research first reported the combination of QSM value, GM volume within the infarct area, and voxel‐wise GM volume could be used to predict neurological impairment of patients with SAO, which provides new insights for further understanding the SAO stroke.

IntroductionZanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim is an economically significant crop in Asia, but large-scale cultivation is often threatened by frequent diseases, leading to significant yield declines. Deep learning-based methods for crop disease recognition have emerged as a vital research area in agriculture.MethodsThis paper presents a novel model, LT-DeepLab, for the semantic segmentation of leaf spot (folium macula), rust, frost damage (gelu damnum), and diseased leaves and trunks in complex field environments. The proposed model enhances DeepLabV3+ with an innovative Fission Depth Separable with CRCC Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling module, which reduces the structural parameters of Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling module and improves cross-scale extraction capability. Incorporating Criss-Cross Attention with the Convolutional Block Attention Module provides a complementary boost to channel feature extraction. Additionally, deformable convolution enhances low-dimensional features, and a Fully Convolutional Network auxiliary header is integrated to optimize the network and enhance model accuracy without increasing parameter count.ResultsLT-DeepLab improves the mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) by 3.59%, the mean Pixel Accuracy (mPA) by 2.16%, and the Overall Accuracy (OA) by 0.94% compared to the baseline DeepLabV3+. It also reduces computational demands by 11.11% and decreases the parameter count by 16.82%.DiscussionThese results indicate that LT-DeepLab demonstrates excellent disease segmentation capabilities in complex field environments while maintaining high computational efficiency, offering a promising solution for improving crop disease management efficiency.

ObjectiveChronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a common neurologic disorder with increasing incidence, which can be preceded by head trauma or occur in the absence of trauma. In order to deeply understand the clinical characteristics of this disease, we conducted this retrospective study to explore the clinical differences between traumatic and not otherwise specified (NOS) CSDH.MethodsAccording to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 168 traumatic CSDH patients and 133 NOS CSDH patients were recruited from January 2015 to October 2023 in our cohort. The collected data and compared parameters including baseline clinical features and radiological outcomes of hematoma within 24 h of hospital admission, as well as the treatment method and clinical outcome of traumatic and NOS CSDH patients.ResultsCompared to NOS CSDH patients, the average age was younger, epilepsy was more frequent, asymptomatic cases were more common, and the taking of anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs were rarer in traumatic CSDH patients (all P < 0.05). However, no differences were found in the radiological presentations of hematoma at admission, the treatment methods and clinical outcomes of traumatic and NOS CSDH patients (all P > 0.05).ConclusionTraumatic CSDH patients were more likely to be asymptomatic or have seizures, while NOS CSDH were more common in elder people and in individuals with the history of taking anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs. The treatment methods and clinical outcomes were similar in traumatic and NOS CSDH patients.

Abstract Fracture non‐union occurs due to various factors, leading to the development of potentially substantial bone defects. While autograft and allograft are the current gold standards for non‐union fractures, challenges related to availability and immune rejection highlight the need for improved treatments. A strategy in bone tissue engineering is to harness growth factors to induce an effect on cells to change their phenotype, behavior and initiate signaling pathways which lead to increased matrix deposition and tissue formation. Bone morphogenetic protein‐2 (BMP‐2) is a potent osteogenic growth factor however, given its rapid clearance time in vivo, there is a specific therapeutic window for efficacy while avoiding potential deleterious side‐effects. It is demonstrated that a Laponite nanoclay coating on a 3D printable and bioresorbable poly(caprolactone) trimethacrylate‐based resin enables binding of BMP‐2, decreases the rate of release, enabling reduced concentrations to be used while enhancing osteoinduction in both in vitro and in vivo models.

Protein fibrillation is a crucial process in the onset of several neurodegenerative and retinal disorders due to the formation of cytotoxic species. Because of their capacity to prevent protein aggregation, small molecules have the potential to be appointed as therapeutic agents. Here, we examined the inhibitory impacts of the piperonal as a carbaldehyde-derived compound on the fibrillation process of α-synuclein and underlying cytotoxicity against neuron-like (PC12) and human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) (ARPE-19) cells. The results showed that the values of kapp and lag time of α-synuclein were modulated with piperonal. Moreover, ANS fluorescence intensity analysis indicated that piperonal can inhibit the formation of a molten global (misfolded) state of α-synuclein, which is a necessary step in the formation of protein amyloid fibrils. Congo red absorption and circular dichroism spectroscopy also verified the inhibition of β-sheet structure formation after treatment of α-synuclein with piperonal. Furthermore, theoretical studies displayed that piperonal interacts with VAL40:HN, GLU35:O, VAL40, and LYS43 amino acid residues and forms a complex. In addition, cytotoxicity assays demonstrated that piperonal as a safe small molecule could mitigate the induced cytotoxicity by α-synuclein amyloids in PC12 and ARPE-19 cells through reduction of ROS and Bax/Bcl2 mRNA overexpression. Taken together, these outcomes showed that piperonal as a natural aldehyde compound can inhibit α-synuclein fibrillation and underlying cytotoxicity which may be developed for potential therapeutic applications in vivo.

Abstract Objective This study aims to clarify the uncertain association between vasopressor administration and the development of intensive care unit‐acquired weakness (ICUAW) in critically ill adult patients. Methods We conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials up to October 10, 2023. Titles and abstracts were independently screened by two authors, who then reviewed full texts and extracted relevant data from the studies that met the inclusion criteria. This review included prospective and retrospective cohort studies that explored the relationship between vasopressor use and ICUAW utilizing univariate or multivariate analysis in adult ICU patients. Results A total of 15 studies were included in our review, collectively indicating a statistically significant association between the use of vasopressors and the occurrence of ICUAW (odds ratio [OR], 3.43; 95% confidence intervals [CI], 1.95–6.04), including studies utilizing multivariate analysis (OR, 3.43; 95% CI, 1.76–6.70). Specifically, the use of noradrenaline was significantly associated with ICUAW (OR, 4.42; 95% CI, 1.69–11.56). Subgroup and sensitivity analyses further underscored the significant relationship between vasopressor use and ICUAW, particularly in studies focusing on patients with clinical weakness, varying study designs, different sample sizes, and relatively low risk of bias. However, this association was not observed in studies limited to patients with abnormal electrophysiology. Conclusions Our review underscores a significant link between the use of vasopressors and the development of ICUAW in critically ill adult patients. This finding helps better identify patients at higher risk of ICUAW and suggests considering targeted therapies to mitigate this risk.

BackgroundThere is an urgent need to confirm biomarkers reflecting the pathogenesis and targeted drugs of lower back pain or/and sciatica in clinical practice. This study aimed to conduct a two sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to explore the causal link between 486 serum metabolites and lower back pain or/and sciatica.MethodsAll data come from two public shared databases of European ancestry and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for lower back pain or/and sciatica acted as instrumental variables. The traditional inverse variance weighting (IVW) method, weighted-median method, MR-Egger methodand other methods were used to estimate causality. The horizontal pleiotropy, heterogeneities were also verified through the MR-Egger intercept test, Cochran's Q test, MR-PRESSO test and the leave-one-out sensitivity analysis. Reverse MR analysis was employed to evaluate the direct impact of metabolites on lower back pain or/and sciatica. Additionally, we conducted the colocalization analysis to reflect the causality deeply. Furthermore, metabolic pathway analysis was performed.Results28 metabolites (18 known metabolites, 1 identified metabolites and 9 unknown metabolites) relevant to the risk of sciatica or/and lower back pain after using genetic variants as probes at PIVW

ObjectivesTo develop and validate a deep learning (DL) based automatic segmentation and classification system to classify benign and malignant BI-RADS 4 lesions imaged with ABVS.MethodsFrom May to December 2020, patients with BI-RADS 4 lesions from Centre 1 and Centre 2 were retrospectively enrolled and divided into a training set (Centre 1) and an independent test set (Centre 2). All included patients underwent an ABVS examination within one week before the biopsy. A two-stage DL framework consisting of an automatic segmentation module and an automatic classification module was developed. The preprocessed ABVS images were input into the segmentation module for BI-RADS 4 lesion segmentation. The classification model was constructed to extract features and output the probability of malignancy. The diagnostic performances among different ABVS views (axial, sagittal, coronal, and multi-view) and DL architectures (Inception-v3, ResNet 50, and MobileNet) were compared.ResultsA total of 251 BI-RADS 4 lesions from 216 patients were included (178 in the training set and 73 in the independent test set). The average Dice coefficient, precision, and recall of the segmentation module in the test set were 0.817 ± 0.142, 0.903 ± 0.183, and 0.886 ± 0.187, respectively. The DL model based on multiview ABVS images and Inception-v3 achieved the best performance, with an AUC, sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV of 0.949 (95% CI: 0.945-0.953), 82.14%, 95.56%, 92.00%, and 89.58%, respectively, in the test set.ConclusionsThe developed multiview DL model enables automatic segmentation and classification of BI-RADS 4 lesions in ABVS images.

WOXs are a class of plant-specific transcription factors that play key roles in plant growth and stress responses. However, the mechanism by which WOXs influence adventitious root development in Rosa hybrida remains unclear. In this study, RcWOX gene family in rose was identified and phylogenetically analyzed using bioinformatics analysis. A total of 381 RcWOX gene members were localized on seven chromosomes except of nine members. The main cis-acting elements involved in hormonal, light, developmental, and abiotic stress responses were identified in the promoters of RcWOX genes, suggesting their regulation by these signals. Nine RhWOX genes had significant different expression during rooting process of rose. RhWOX331, RhWOX308, RhWOX318 were positive with the formation of rose roots. RhWOX331 was positively involved in the formation of adventitious root primordia, which gene coding a transcription factor localized in the nucleus. The HOX conserved domain in the protein contributed to the self-activating activity of RhWOX331. We obtained genetically modified Arabidopsis to validate the function of RhWOX331. Overexpression of RhWOX331 gene alleviated the inhibition of root length of A. thaliana primary roots by high concentration of IBA and NPA, and significantly increased the number of lateral roots on the primary roots, as well as the height of A. thaliana plants. Additionally, RhWOX331 promoted adventitious root formation in A. thaliana and mitigated hormonal inhibition by exogenous 6-BA, NPA, and GA3. The RhWOX331 promoter contained cis-acting elements such as ABRE, Box 4 and CGTCA-motif et.al. GUS activity analysis showed that the gene acted at the cotyledon attachment site. Taken together, these studies identified a significant expansion of the RcWOX gene family, inferred roles of certain branch members in adventitious root formation, elucidated the function of RhWOX331 in adventitious root initiation, and laid the foundation for further research on the function of WOX gene family in roses.

The recent years have witnessed a great leap for near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy technology in multifunctional application fields. In this study, a double-perovskite structured Cr3+-doped Cs2KScF6 fluoride NIR phosphor with peak location at 778 nm and full-width at half maximum (FWHM) of 95 nm was synthesized by a co-precipitation method. The integral emission intensity at 423 K retains 70 % of that at room temperature (RT), showing good luminescent thermal stability. Combining the obtained phosphor in an NIR phosphor converted light-emitting diode (NIR pc-LED) device, the output power and photoelectric conversion efficiency can reach 72.28 mW and 6.83 % at 320 mA. By virtue of the good optical performance, clear structural images of different fruits were visualized by using the NIR pc-LED as light source, suggesting the potential of Cs2KScF6:Cr3+ phosphor to be used in high-power LED devices.

To address stress concentration in mining roadways, particularly in the inclined, thick, and hard roof, and lessen the impact of sudden overlying strata collapse, a comprehensive study was conducted on the 1301N transport roadway in No.6 Great Wall Mine. The research utilized various methods such as theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and field monitoring to optimize the key parameters of roof cutting and roadway retaining, leading to improved control of the surrounding rock and reduced risk of impact disturbance. Firstly, based on field geological data, the theoretical minimum roof-cutting height and angle of the 1301N transportation gateway were calculated using the coefficient of rock crushing and swelling and masonry beam theory. Furthermore, in order to confirm and enhance the accuracy of the theoretical findings, we utilized PFC2D numerical software to create a model of the roof-cutting retaining roadway situated in the No.1301N working face. By employing the control variable approach, we studied the response characteristics of roof stress, displacement, and surrounding rock fabric tensor of the retaining roadway at various roof-cutting heights and angles. The analysis results indicate a logarithmic relationship between cutting height and pressure relief effect. The effect increases with height, but growth amplitude decreases. There is an “S” growth relationship between the roof-cutting angle and the pressure relief effect. The pressure relief effect first increases and then decreases with the increase of the roof-cutting height. The change law between pressure relief parameters and pressure relief effect reveals that there is an optimal value for the selection of the roof-cutting height and an optimal solution for the selection of the roof-cutting angle. Based on the results of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, it is determined that the most suitable roof-cutting height is 13 m, and the optimal roof-cutting angle is 10°. The field monitoring shows that the control effect of the surrounding rock under the roof-cutting parameters is good, and the deformation of the surrounding rock of the retaining roadway is small. It can effectively meet the mining demand of the next working face and verifies the effectiveness of optimizing the roof-cutting parameters. This provides a theoretical basis and practical reference for the selection of the parameters of roof cutting and retaining roadway under similar geological conditions.

Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected at the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb −1, we determine the absolute branching fractions of fifteen hadronic D s + $$ {D}_s^{+} $$ decays with a double-tag technique. In particular, we make precise measurements of the branching fractions B D s + → K + K − π + = 5.49 ± 0.04 ± 0.07 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(5.49\pm 0.04\pm 0.07\right)\% $$ , B D s + → K S 0 K + = 1.50 ± 0.01 ± 0.01 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{+}\right)=\left(1.50\pm 0.01\pm 0.01\right)\% $$ and B D s + → K + K − π + π 0 = 5.50 ± 0.05 ± 0.11 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0\right)=\left(5.50\pm 0.05\pm 0.11\right)\% $$ , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The CP asymmetries in these decays are also measured and all are found to be compatible with zero.
