Abstract: Measurements of the EMC effect in the tritium and helium-3 mirror nuclei are reported. The data were obtained by the MARATHON Jefferson Lab experiment, which performed deep inelastic electron scattering from deuterium and the three-body nuclei, using a cryogenic gas target system and the High Resolution Spectrometers of the Hall A Facility of the Lab. The data cover the Bjorken $x$ range from 0.20 to 0.83, corresponding to a squared four-momentum transfer $Q^2$ range from 2.7 to $11.9\gevsq$, and to an invariant mass $W$ of the final hadronic state greater than 1.84 GeV/${\it c}^2$. The tritium EMC effect measurement is the first of its kind. The MARATHON experimental results are compared to results from previous measurements by DESY-HERMES and JLab-Hall C experiments, as well as with few-body theoretical predictions., Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2104.05850

2. Drug efficacy of ivermectin against primary nematodes parasitizing captive Przewalski’s horse (Equus ferus przewalskii) after ten years of annually treatment

Abstract: Reintroduction of endangered species to natural habitat is considered as an important tool for conservation. The effect of drug management on captive population of reintroduced species is largely neglected. Decreased drug efficacy could pose a substantial threat to health of animals. More importantly, captive population without proper drug administration could act as transmission medium of resistance nematodes to wild population, making it important to delay the occurrence of drug resistance in captive population. Ivermectin have been used in captive Przewalski’s horse (Equus ferus przewalskii) to eradicate intestinal parasitic nematodes annually, while no available studies describing the drug efficacy in the recent ten years. Here, fecal egg counts pre- and post-treatment were performed with ivermectin through individual trace. Both large and small strongyles were identifi ed by larval culture. The fecal egg count reduction was almost 100% based on egg counting data of 448 samples from 13 Przewalski’s horses. Feces of two Przewalski’s horses were sampled for successive 20 days. Eggs per gram feces usually increased dramatically at the period of 1 – 2 post-treatment days and declined persistently to 0.0 within 15 days. A sustained high ivermectin efficacy against neither Parascaris equorum nor strongyles was indicated, which can be partly explained by the low deworm frequency.

Abstract: Inclusive electron scattering at carefully chosen kinematics can isolate scattering from short-range correlations (SRCs), produced through hard, short-distance interactions of nucleons in the nucleus. Because the two-nucleon (2N) SRCs arise from the same N-N interaction in all nuclei, the cross section in the SRC-dominated regime is identical up to an overall scaling factor, and the A/2H cross section ratio is constant in this region. This scaling behavior has been used to identify SRC dominance and to map out the contribution of SRCs for a wide range of nuclei. We examine this scaling behavior at lower momentum transfers using new data on $^2$H, $^3$H, and $^3$He which show that the scaling region is larger than in heavy nuclei. Based on the improved scaling, especially for $^3$H/$^3$He, we examine the ratios at kinematics where three-nucleon SRCs may play an important role. The data for the largest initial nucleon momenta are consistent with isolation of scattering from 3N-SRCs, and suggest that the very-highest momentum nucleons in $^3$He have a nearly isospin-independent momentum configuration, or a small enhancement of the proton distribution.

Abstract: In 2018, the E12-17-003 experiment was conducted at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) to explore the possible existence of an nnLambda state in the reconstructed missing mass distribution from a tritium gas target [K. N. Suzuki et al., Prog. Theor. Exp. Phys. 2022, 013D01 (2022), B. Pandey et al., Phys. Rev. C 105, L051001 (2022)]. As part of this investigation, data was also collected using a gaseous hydrogen target, not only for a precise absolute mass scale calibration but also for the study of Lambda/Sigma^0 electroproduction. This dataset was acquired at Q^2~0.5 (GeV/c)^2, W=2.14 GeV, and theta_{gamma K}^{c.m.}~8 deg. It covers forward angles where photoproduction data is scarce and a low-Q^2 region that is of interest for hypernuclear experiments. On the other hand, this kinematic region is at a slightly higher Q^2 than previous hypernuclear experiments, thus providing crucial information for understanding the Q^2 dependence of the differential cross sections for Lambda/Sigma^0 hyperon electroproduction. This paper reports on the Q^2 dependence of the differential cross section for the e + p -> e' + K^+ + Lambda/Sigma^0 reaction in the 0.2-0.8 (GeV/c)^2, and provides comparisons with the currently available theoretical models., Comment: 11 pages, 15 figures

Abstract: JLab E12-19-002 Experiment is planned to measure the Λ-binding energies of 3ΛH [Jπ = 1/2+ or 3/2+(T = 0)] and 4ΛH (1+) at JLab Hall C. The expected accuracy for the binding-energy measurement is |ΔBtotal Λ | ≃ 70 keV. The accurate spectroscopy for these light hypernuclei would shed light on the puzzle of the small binding energy and short lifetime of 3ΛH, and the chargesymmetry breaking in the ΛN interaction. We aim to perform the experiment in 2025.

Abstract: Missing-mass spectroscopy with the 3H(e, e′K+) reaction was carried out at Jefferson Lab’s (JLab) Hall A in Oct–Nov, 2018. The differential cross section for the 3H(γ∗, K+)Λnn was deduced at ω = Ee − Ee′ = 2.102 GeV and at the forward K+-scattering angle (0° ≤ θγ∗K ≤ 5°) in the laboratory frame. Given typical predicted energies and decay widths, which are (BΛ, Γ) = (−0.25, 0.8) and (−0.55, 4.7) MeV, the cross sections were found to be 11.2 ± 4.8(stat.)+4.1−2.1(sys.) and 18.1 ± 6.8(stat.)+4.2−2.9(sys.) nb/sr, respectively. The obtained result would impose a constraint for interaction models particularly between Λ and neutron by comparing to theoretical calculations.

Abstract: We performed an experiment using tritium and hydrogen cryogenic gas targets at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) in 2018 (E12-17-003)[1, 2]. In this article, we discuss the Λ/Σ0 hyperon electroproduction from hydrogen target. Elementary Λ/Σ0 hyperon production processes are important not only for an absolute mass scale calibration in our experiment, but also for the study of the electroproduction mechanisms themselves. In this article, we reported the results of the differential cross section for the p(e, e’K+)Λ/Σ0 reaction at Q2 ∼ 0.5 (GeV/c)2.

Abstract: Abstract. An nnΛ is a neutral baryon system with no charge. The study of the pure Λ-neutron system such as nnΛ gives us information on the Λn interaction. The nnΛ search experiment (E12-17-003) was performed at JLab Hall A in 2018. In this article, the Λn FSI was investigated by a shape analysis of the 3H(e, e′K+)X missing mass spectrum, and a preliminary result for the Λn FSI study is given.

Abstract: Using $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV,we investigate the semileptonic decays $D^+\to \pi^+\pi^- \ell^+\nu_\ell$ ($\ell=e$ and $\mu$). The $D^+\to f_0(500)\mu^+\nu_\mu$ decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of $D^+\to f_0(500) \mu^+\nu_\mu$ and $D^+\to f_0(500) e^+\nu_e$ in different $\ell^+\nu_\ell$ four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor $f^{f_0}_{+}(0)$ and the magnitude of the $c\to d$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is determined to be $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)|V_{cd}|=0.143\pm0.014_{\rm stat}\pm0.011_{\rm syst}$ for the first time. With the input of $|V_{cd}|$ from the global fit in the standard model, we determine $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)=0.63\pm0.06_{\rm stat}\pm0.05_{\rm syst}$. The absolute branching fractions of $D^+\to f_0(500)_{(\pi^+\pi^-)}\mu^+\nu_\mu$ and $D^+\to \rho^0_{(\pi^+\pi^-)} \mu^+\nu_\mu$ are determined as $(0.72\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.08_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $(1.64\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to \rho^0 \mu^+\nu_\mu}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to \rho^0 e^+\nu_e}=0.88\pm0.10$ and ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) \mu^+\nu_\mu}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) e^+\nu_e}=1.14\pm0.26$, which are compatible with the standard model expectation., Comment: Final version accepted for publication

Abstract: The electromagnetic form factors of the proton and neutron encode information on the spatial structure of their charge and magnetization distributions. While measurements of the proton are relatively straightforward, the lack of a free neutron target makes measurements of the neutron's electromagnetic structure more challenging and more sensitive to experimental or model-dependent uncertainties. Various experiments have attempted to extract the neutron form factors from scattering from the neutron in deuterium, with different techniques providing different, and sometimes large, systematic uncertainties. We present results from a novel measurement of the neutron magnetic form factor using quasielastic scattering from the mirror nuclei ^{3}H and ^{3}He, where the nuclear effects are larger than for deuterium but expected to largely cancel in the cross-section ratios. 12. CPSOR-GCN: A Vehicle Trajectory Prediction Method Powered by Emotion and Cognitive Theory

Abstract: Active safety systems on vehicles often face problems with false alarms. Most active safety systems predict the driver's trajectory with the assumption that the driver is always in a normal emotion, and then infer risks. However, the driver's trajectory uncertainty increases under abnormal emotions. This paper proposes a new trajectory prediction model: CPSOR-GCN, which predicts vehicle trajectories under abnormal emotions. At the physical level, the interaction features between vehicles are extracted by the physical GCN module. At the cognitive level, SOR cognitive theory is used as prior knowledge to build a Dynamic Bayesian Network (DBN) structure. The conditional probability and state transition probability of nodes from the calibrated SOR-DBN quantify the causal relationship between cognitive factors, which is embedded into the cognitive GCN module to extract the characteristics of the influence mechanism of emotions on driving behavior. The CARLA-SUMO joint driving simulation platform was built to develop dangerous pre-crash scenarios. Methods of recreating traffic scenes were used to naturally induce abnormal emotions. The experiment collected data from 26 participants to verify the proposed model. Compared with the model that only considers physical motion features, the prediction accuracy of the proposed model is increased by 68.70%. Furthermore,considering the SOR-DBN reduces the prediction error of the trajectory by 15.93%. Compared with other advanced trajectory prediction models, the results of CPSOR-GCN also have lower errors. However, the mechanisms through which CAFs influence the progression of HCC remain incompletely understood.Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing datasets (GSE158723 and GSE112271) were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and analyzed using R software. Our analysis suggested that CAFs may promote liver cancer cell development, possibly through the interaction of pleiotrophin (PTN) and syndecan-2 (SDC2). Clinical samples from HCC patients were collected and processed into frozen sections and single-cell suspensions for Masson staining, immunofluorescence staining, and flow cytometry. Additionally, Huh7 liver cancer cells and LO2 normal liver cells were cultured and subjected to immunofluorescence assays using cell slides.Results: The proportion of CAFs in cancerous tissues was higher than in adjacent non-cancerous tissues, and pleiotrophin (PTN) expression was elevated in cancer tissues compared to adjacent tissues. These findings aligned with the results of the single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Furthermore, SDC2 expression was significantly upregulated in Huh7 liver cancer cells compared to LO2 normal liver cells.Discussion: This study suggests that CAFs may contribute to HCC progression via the PTN/SDC2 signaling pathway. The objective of this study was to compare the outcomes of linezolid versus teicoplanin in HAP patients with renal insufficiency and to explore optimal dosage strategy for linezolid.Methods: The retrospective study enrolled adult patients treated with intravenous linezolid or teicoplanin at Suzhou Municipal Hospital between July 2018 and August 2023. For the comparative pharmacodynamic study, effectiveness, safety and target attainment of trough concentration (Cmin) for teicoplanin versus linezolid treatment in HAP patients with document Gram-positive bacteria and renal insufficiency were compared. For the population pharmacokinetics (PPK) analyses, linezolid concentrations collected exclusively from HAP patients with renal insufficiency were used and the optimal dosage strategy was investigated using Monte Carlo simulations.Results: Linezolid-treated patients had a higher bacterial eradication rate than teicoplanin-treated patients (88.5% vs 63.4%, P < 0.001). A higher proportion of patients in the linezolid group experienced at least one adverse reaction (42.0% vs 25.0%, P = 0.025). Significantly more supratherapeutic Cmin, less therapeutic Cmin were achieved in the linezolid group (adjusted P < 0.05). A total of 207 linezolid concentrations from 166 patients with renal insufficiency were available for the PPK analysis. Age and creatinine clearance (CrCL) were identified as significant covariates that influenced clearance. Simulations show that 300 mg q12h provide the optimal exposure in patients with a CrCL of 60 or 45 mL/min, and 200 mg q12h was recommended for patients with a CrCL of 30 or 15 mL/min.Conclusion: Linezolid-treated patients with HAP and renal insufficiency had higher bacterial eradication rates, supratherapeutic exposure and adverse reactions than teicoplanin-treated patients. Participants were classified into DVT and negative-DVT groups within the first week post-surgery. We used univariate logistic regression and multivariate logistic regression analyses to assess the impact of various clinical variables on DVT. A nomogram model was constructed to forecast the occurrence of early DVT following SICH surgery. The model’s performance was assessed and validated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and bootstrap resampling.Results: Among the 96 participants, 46 developed DVT. Significant differences were noted in age, D-dimer levels, fibrinogen degradation products, Caprini scores, and total surgical bleeding volume between the groups. Multivariate analysis revealed that Caprini score (the values of OR, 95% CI, and P are 1.962, 1.124– 3.424, and 0.018, respectively) and total surgical bleeding volume (the values of OR, 95% CI, and P are 1.010, 1.002– 1.018, and 0.017, respectively) were risk variables contributing to DVT occurrence. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.918 (95% CI, 0.821– 0.988). The calibration curve showed good prediction accuracy.Conclusion: The Caprini score and total surgical bleeding volume are meaningful self-reliant risk variables contributing to DVT occurrence in postoperative participants with SICH. We have created a straightforward and efficient model to predict early DVT post-SICH surgery. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) in this patient population.Patients and Methods: A total of 406 non-metastatic NPC patients were included in the study. NLR, PLR, and LMR were stratified according to their average values. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Cox multivariate regression analysis was performed to evaluate the associations of NLR, PLR, and LMR with PFS and OS.Results: Patients with NLR > 2.78 had worse PFS (P = 0.008) and OS (P < 0.001); PLR > 162.48 was related to lower PFS (P = 0.018) but not OS (P = 0.29); LMR > 5.05 showed no significant difference in PFS and OS compared to LMR ≤ 5.05 (P values were 0.13 and 0.94, respectively). Multivariate analysis indicated that NLR was an independent prognostic factor for PFS (HR, 1.674; 95% CI, 1.006– 2.784; P = 0.047) and OS (HR, 4.143; 95% CI, 2.111– 8.129; P = 0.000), while PLR and LMR did not demonstrate significant associations with PFS and OS.Conclusion: This study identifies NLR as a novel and independent prognostic indicator for NPC patients receiving IMRT, offering valuable insights that could inform future clinical decision-making. Bacterial growth was observed in 39 cases, with a preponderance of Escherichia coli (20, 51.28%), Streptococcus agalactiae (7, 17.95%). The fertilization rate of contaminated embryos was 18.18% (Klebsiella pneumoniae) to 94.79% (S. agalactiae), the cleavage rate was 9.09% (Enterobacter cloacae) to 98.90% (S. agalactiae), and the available embryo rate of Day 3 was 0 (Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter cloacae) to 63.33% (S. agalactiae). Blastocyst formation rate was 3.23% (Proteus mirabilis) to 64.29% (Streptococcus mitis). E. coli contamination occurred mostly on Day 1, and S. agalactiae on Days 3 and 5. After rinsing and rescuing treatment, six healthy male babies were born.Conclusion: E. coli and S. agalactiae were the most common bacterial embryo contaminants. Most microbial contamination can significantly decrease the fertilization rate. Increasing number of observational studies have associated mood instability to common female diseases, but the underlying causal relationship remains unclear. In this work, Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was applied to explore the genetically predicted causal relationship of mood swings and several prevalent gynecological disorders.Methods: Instrumental variables (IVs) of mood swings were selected from UK Biobank (UKB), with 204,412 cases and 247,207 controls being incorporated. The genetic variants for female disorders were obtained from genome-wide association studies (GWASs) and FinnGen consortium. To avoid biases caused by racial difference, only European population was included here. Five strong analytical methodologies were used to increase the validity of the results, the most substantial of which was the inverse variance weighting (IVW) method. Pleiotropy, sensitivity, and heterogeneity were assessed to strengthen the findings.Results: We found mood swings was significantly positively associated with risk of endometrial cancer (OR= 2.60 [95% CI= 1.36, 4.95], P= 0.0037), cervical cancer (OR= 1.01[95% CI= 1.00,1.02], P= 0.0213) and endometriosis (OR= 2.58 [95% CI= 1.18, 5.60], P= 0.0170) by IVW method. However, there was no causal relationship between mood swing and ovarian cancer. No pleiotropy and heterogeneity existed and sensitivity tests were passed.Conclusion: This study reveals that mood swing may serve as a genetically predicted causal risk factor for endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, and endometriosis in the European population, while no such association was observed for ovarian cancer. These findings make up for observational research’s inherent limitations and may improve patient outcomes in the field of gynecological health. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 512 patients were ultimately enrolled in the study. Their general information and laboratory test indicators were collected, and the occurrence of MACE within 12 months after admission was followed up and recorded for the enrolled patients, With the last follow-up having been concluded on July 31, 2023. The enrolled patients were stratified into four groups (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) based on their GDI values, from the lowest to the highest. Cox proportional hazards regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis were employed to investigate the risk factors associated with MACE occurrence across these groups and to assess the cumulative risk of MACE over time within each group.Results: The percentages of enrolled patients experiencing MACE in groups Q1 to Q4 were 10.16%, 12.50%, 15.63%, and 16.41%, respectively. GDI independently predicted the hazards for MACE in enrolled patients. The cumulative risk of MACE over time was considerably more significant in those with a GDI> 4.21 than those with a GDI≤ 4.21.Conclusion: The elevated GDI is correlated with an augmented risk of MACE in diabetic patients with concomitant ACS, thereby serving as an early indicator for assessing the unfavorable clinical prognosis of patients. Here, we aimed to investigate whether semaglutide, a novel GLP-1 RA, could alleviate ovarian inflammation in PCOS mice.Methods: Female C57BL/6J mice were subcutaneously injected with dehydroepiandrosterone for 21 days to establish the PCOS model. Then the mice were randomly divided into three groups: PCOS group (n = 6), S-0.42 group (semaglutide 0.42 mg/kg/w, n = 6), and S-0.84 group (semaglutide 0.84 mg/kg/w, n = 6). The remaining six mice were used as controls (NC). After 28 days of intervention, serum sex hormones and inflammatory cytokine levels were measured. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was used to observe the ovarian morphology. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the relative expression of CYP19A1, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, and NF-κB in ovaries. CYP17A1 and StAR were detected using immunofluorescence staining. Finally, the relative expressions of AMPK, pAMPK, SIRT1, NF-κB, IκBα, pIκBα, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β were measured using Western blotting.Results: First, after intervention with semaglutide, the weight of the mice decreased, insulin resistance improved, and the estrous cycle returned to normal. Serum testosterone and IL-1β levels decreased significantly, whereas estradiol and progestin levels increased significantly. Follicular cystic dilation significantly improved. The expression of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, NF-κB, CYP17A1, and StAR in the ovary was significantly downregulated, whereas CYP19A1 expression was upregulated after the intervention. Abstract: The electromagnetic form factors of the proton and neutron encode information on the spatial structure of their charge and magnetization distributions. While measurements of the proton are relatively straightforward, the lack of a free neutron target makes measurements of the neutron's electromagnetic structure more challenging and more sensitive to experimental or model-dependent uncertainties. Various experiments have attempted to extract the neutron form factors from scattering from the neutron in deuterium, with different techniques providing different, and sometimes large, systematic uncertainties. We present results from a novel measurement of the neutron magnetic form factor using quasielastic scattering from the mirror nuclei $^3$H and $^3$He, where the nuclear effects are larger than for deuterium but expected to largely cancel in the cross-section ratios. This study investigated the efficacy of sequential delivery of radiotherapy and targeted therapy in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer with BM.Methods: Fifty-seven patients were categorized into two groups: the targeted-radiotherapy group (receiving 2– 8 cycles of anti-HER2-targeted therapy followed by radiotherapy after BM) and the radiotherapy-targeted group (undergoing radiotherapy first, followed by regular anti-HER2-targeted therapy). The study endpoints were intracranial progression-free survival (iPFS) and overall survival. Factors associated with intracranial progression and mortality were assessed by univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis.Results: Patients in the radiotherapy-targeted group had better iPFS (P < 0.001), while there was no significant difference in overall survival between the two groups (P = 0.145). Multivariate Cox analysis showed that different sequential treatment groups were independent prognostic factors for iPFS. The presence of this condition hinders the effective delivery of therapeutic drugs and the infiltration of immune cells into the tumor, thereby compromising the efficacy of treatments against tumors. The objective of this study is to exploit the thermal effect of ultrasound (US) in order to induce localized temperature elevation within the tumor, thereby facilitating vasodilation, augmenting drug delivery, and enhancing immune cell infiltration.Methods: The selection of US parameters was based on intratumor temperature elevation and their impact on cell viability. Vasodilation and hypoxia improvement were investigated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunofluorescence examination. The distribution and accumulation of commercial pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) and PD-L1 antibody (anti-PD-L1) in the tumor were analyzed through frozen section analysis, ELISA, and in vivo fluorescence imaging. The evaluation of tumor immune microenvironment was conducted using flow cytometry (FCM). The efficacy of US-enhanced chemotherapy in combination with immunotherapy was investigated by monitoring tumor growth and survival rate after various treatments.Results: The US irradiation condition of 0.8 W/cm2 for 10 min effectively elevated the tumor temperature to approximately 40 °C without causing any cellular or tissue damage, and sufficiently induced vasodilation, thereby enhancing the distribution and delivery of PLD and anti-PD-L1 in US-treated tumors. Moreover, it effectively mitigated tumor hypoxia while significantly increasing M1-phenotype tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and CD8+ T cells, as well as decreasing M2-phenotype TAMs. By incorporating US irradiation, the therapeutic efficacy of PLD and anti-PD-L1 was substantially boosted, leading to effective suppression of tumor growth and prolonged survival in mice.Conclusion: The application of US (0.8 W/cm2 for 10 min) can effectively induce vasodilation and enhance the delivery of PLD and anti-PD-L1 into tumors, thereby reshaping the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.Keywords: ultrasound, thermal effect, vasodilatation, drug delivery, tumor microenvironment

However, malignant struma ovarii coexisting with thyroid carcinoma, not to mention autoimmune disease, is uncommon. Malignant struma ovarii complicated with papillary thyroid carcinoma, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and polycystic ovarian syndrome has never been reported in literature.Patients and Methods: A 32-year-old female was admitted to our hospital due to a history of abdominal distension and menolipsis over the past half a year. Physical examination touched a 6 × 6 cm mass with a clear boundary, normal movement, and no pressing pain in the right adnexal area, Imaging revealed a cystic solid mass of 6 × 7 cm in the right ovary and the level of tumor markers including CA125, CA199, CA153, CEA, AFP were normal, but with low TSH and increased TPOAb, TGAb, TRAb. Laparoscopic right ovary tumor resection was performed, followed by comprehensive staging surgery, as well as thyroidectomy after pathologic diagnosis. The patient was diagnosed with a combination of follicular thyroid cancer from struma ovarii, papillary thyroid carcinoma and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, along with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Immunohistochemical staining showed positivity for Ag, CK-pan, CK7, PAX8 and TTF-1 in the right ovarian mass, and the left thyroid was positive for the BRAF V600E mutation.Results: The patient underwent thyroxine suppression therapy and radioactive iodine 131I therapy after operation. Serum thyroglobulin was undetectable, and no signs of recurrence or metastasis were detected in the imaging examination at the 2-year follow-up.Conclusion: Malignant struma ovarii coexisting with thyroid carcinoma is rare. No report has been identified in literature review on the rare malignant struma ovarii coexisting with thyroid carcinoma, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Our case can offer experience of diagnosis and treatment to some extent for such rare case. Therefore, it is essential to consider the association between ovarian tumors and the endocrine system. This study aimed to reveal mechanisms of anxiolytic effects of BDD with multidimensional omics.Methods: First, 28-day chronic restraint stress (CRS) was used to create a rat model of anxiety, and the open field test and elevated plus maze were used to assess anxiety-like behavior. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), hematoxylin–eosin staining, and immunofluorescence staining were used to evaluate inflammatory response. Besides, 16S rRNA gene sequencing assessed fecal microbiota composition and differential microbiota. Non-targeted metabolomics analysis of feces was performed to determine fecal biomarkers, and targeted metabolomics was used to observe the levels of hippocampus neurotransmitters. Finally, Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine relationships among gut microbiota, fecal metabolites, and neurotransmitters.Results: BDD significantly improved anxiety-like behaviors in CRS-induced rats and effectively ameliorated hippocampal neuronal damage and abnormal activation of hippocampal microglia. It also had a profound effect on the diversity of microbiota, as evidenced by significant changes in the abundance of 10 potential microbial biomarkers at the genus level. Additionally, BDD led to significant alterations in 18 fecal metabolites and 12 hippocampal neurotransmitters, with the majority of the metabolites implicated in amino acid metabolism pathways such as D-glutamine and D-glutamate, alanine, arginine and proline, and tryptophan metabolism. Furthermore, Pearson analysis showed a strong link among gut microbiota, metabolites, and neurotransmitters during anxiety and BDD treatment.Conclusion: BDD can effectively improve anxiety-like behaviors by regulating the gut–brain axis, including gut microbiota and metabolite modification, suppression of hippocampal neuronal inflammation, and regulation of neurotransmitters. Previous studies focused more on developing cannabinoid receptor agonists or supplementing exogenous cannabinoids, which are prone to various adverse effects due to their strong pharmacological activity and poor receptor selectivity, limiting their application in clinical research. Endocannabinoid hydrolase inhibitors are considered to be the most promising development strategies for the treatment of anxiety disorders. More recent efforts have emphasized that inhibition of two major endogenous cannabinoid hydrolases, monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) and fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), indirectly activates cannabinoid receptors by increasing endogenous cannabinoid levels in the synaptic gap, circumventing receptor desensitization resulting from direct enhancement of endogenous cannabinoid signaling. Chemotherapy still has a poor clinical prognosis for ovarian cancer patients, with cell proliferation and angiogenesis leading to invasion, migration, and recurrence. To overcome these obstacles, we constructed a novel HA-modified paclitaxel and diosgenin liposome (PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs) using two novel functional materials, DSPE-PEG2000-HA and DSPE-PEG2000-TK-PEG5000, to specifically deliver the drugs to the tumor site in order to reduce OC cell proliferation and anti-angiogenic generation, thereby inhibiting invasion and migration.Methods and Results: PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs were prepared by film dispersion, with ideal physicochemical properties and exhibits active targeting for enhanced cellular uptake. The ZIP synergy score for PTX and Dios was calculated using the online SynergyFinder software to be 3.15, indicating synergy. In vitro results showed that PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs were highly cytotoxic to ID8 cells, induced ID8 cell apoptosis, and inhibited ID8 cell migration and invasion. In vivo studies showed that PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs could prolong the circulation time in the blood, accumulate significantly in the tumor site, and effectively fight against angiogenesis with significant anti-tumor effects.Conclusion: The production of PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs is an effective strategy for the treatment of OC.Keywords: ovarian cancer, functional liposomes, paclitaxel, diosgenin, ROS-response, HA

Abstract: When protons and neutrons (nucleons) are bound into atomic nuclei, they are close enough together to feel significant attraction, or repulsion, from the strong, short-distance part of the nucleon-nucleon interaction. These strong interactions lead to hard collisions between nucleons, generating pairs of highly-energetic nucleons referred to as short-range correlations (SRCs). SRCs are an important but relatively poorly understood part of nuclear structure and mapping out the strength and isospin structure (neutron-proton vs proton-proton pairs) of these virtual excitations is thus critical input for modeling a range of nuclear, particle, and astrophysics measurements. Hitherto measurements used two-nucleon knockout or ``triple-coincidence'' reactions to measure the relative contribution of np- and pp-SRCs by knocking out a proton from the SRC and detecting its partner nucleon (proton or neutron). These measurementsshow that SRCs are almost exclusively np pairs, but had limited statistics and required large model-dependent final-state interaction (FSI) corrections. We report on the first measurement using inclusive scattering from the mirror nuclei $^3$H and $^3$He to extract the np/pp ratio of SRCs in the A=3 system. We obtain a measure of the np/pp SRC ratio that is an order of magnitude more precise than previous experiments, and find a dramatic deviation from the near-total np dominance observed in heavy nuclei. This result implies an unexpected structure in the high-momentum wavefunction for $^3$He and $^3$H. Understanding these results will improve our understanding of the short-range part of the N-N interaction.

Abstract: The E12-14-012 experiment, performed in Jefferson Lab Hall A, has measured the (e,e'p) cross section in parallel kinematics using a natural titanium target. Here, we report the full results of the analysis of the data set corresponding to beam energy 2.2 GeV, and spanning the missing momentum and missing energy range 15 <= pm <= 250 MeV/c and 12 <= Em <= 80 MeV. The reduced cross section has been measured with ~7% accuracy as function of both missing momentum and missing energy. We compared our data to the results of a Monte Carlo simulations performed using a model spectral function and including the effects of final state interactions. The aim of this study is to explore the value and potential mechanisms of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) in Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)-infected osteomyelitis from an immunological perspective.Methods: Initially, three transcriptomic datasets from public databases were integrated and analyzed, and consistent expression of CRGs in S. aureus-infected osteomyelitis was identified. Subsequently, immune infiltration analysis was performed, and M2 macrophage-related CRGs (M2R-CRGs) were further identified. Their potential molecular mechanisms were evaluated using Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA). Finally, distinct osteomyelitis subtypes and diagnostic models based on characteristic M2R-CRGs were constructed.Results: Through correlation analysis with immune cell infiltration, three characteristic M2R-CRGs (SLC31A1, DLD, and MTF1) were identified. Further analysis using unsupervised clustering and immune microenvironment analysis indicated that cluster 1 might activate pro-inflammatory responses, while cluster 2 was shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory effects in osteomyelitis. Compared to Cluster A, Cluster B demonstrated higher levels and a greater diversity of immune cell infiltrations in CRG-related molecular patterns, suggesting a potential anti-inflammatory role in osteomyelitis. A diagnostic model for S. aureus-infected osteomyelitis, based on the three M2R-CRGs, was constructed, exhibiting excellent diagnostic performance and validated with an independent dataset. Significant upregulation in mRNA and protein expression levels of the three M2R-CRGs was observed in rat models of S. aureus-infected osteomyelitis, aligning with bioinformatic results.Conclusion: The M2R-CRGs (SLC31A1, DLD, and MTF1) may be considered characteristic genes for early diagnosis and personalized immune therapy in patients with S. aureus-infected osteomyelitis.Keywords: osteomyelitis, cuproptosis, Staphylococcus aureus, M2 macrophage, immune infiltration, diagnosis

We observed that there was a strong connection between stigma and rejection and engulfment. Moreover, resilience played a partial or complete mediating role in stigma and engulfment, acceptance and enrichment, and resilience moderates the relationship between stigma and rejection.Conclusion: The current study examined whether resilience mediated or moderated the relationship between stigma and illness identity. It is imperative to reevaluate predictive factors for identifying the risk of early disease progression.Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on a cohort of 1379 COVID-19 patients who were discharged from Xin Hua Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine between 15 December 2022 and 15 February 2023. Patient symptoms, comorbidities, demographics, vital signs, and laboratory test results were systematically documented. The dataset was split into testing and training sets, and 15 different machine learning algorithms were employed to construct prediction models. These models were assessed for accuracy and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC), and the best-performing model was selected for further analysis.Results: AUROC for models generated by 15 machine learning algorithms all exceeded 90%, and the accuracy of 10 of them also surpassed 90%. Light Gradient Boosting model emerged as the optimal choice, with accuracy of 0.928 ± 0.0006 and an AUROC of 0.976 ± 0.0028. Notably, the factors with the greatest impact on in-hospital mortality were growth stimulation expressed gene 2 (ST2,19.3%), interleukin-8 (IL-8,17.2%), interleukin-6 (IL-6,6.4%), age (6.1%), NT-proBNP (5.1%), interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R, 5%), troponin I (TNI,4.6%), congestive heart failure (3.3%) in Light Gradient Boosting model.Conclusion: ST-2, IL-8, IL-6, NT-proBNP, IL-2R, TNI, age and congestive heart failure were significant predictors of in-hospital mortality among COVID-19 patients.Keywords: COVID-19, machine learning, prognosis model, ST2, IL-8, TNI, IL-6, IL-2R, congestive heart failure

Astrocytes, the most abundant glial cells in the central nervous system, have a crucial role in cerebral ischemia and neuroinflammation. We explored the possible advantages of interleukin-6 (IL-6), a powerful pro-inflammatory cytokine produced by astrocytes, for post-stroke cognitive function.Methods: Mendelian randomization was applied to analyze the GWAS database of stroke patients, obtaining a causal relationship between IL-6 and stroke. Further validation of this relationship and its mechanisms was conducted. Using a mouse model of cerebral infarction, we demonstrated a significant increase in IL-6 expression in astrocytes surrounding the ischemic lesion. This protective effect of Piezo1 knockout was attributed to the downregulation of matrix metalloproteinases and upregulation of tight junction proteins, such as occludin and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1).Results: Two-step Mendelian randomization revealed that IL-6 exposure is a risk factor for stroke. Moreover, we conducted behavioral assessments and observed that Piezo1 knockout mice that received intranasal administration of astrocyte-derived IL-6 showed notable improvement in cognitive function compared to control mice. This enhancement was associated with reduced neuronal cell death and suppressed astrocyte activation, preserving ZO-1.Conclusion: Our study shows that astrocyte-derived IL-6 causes cognitive decline after stroke by protecting the blood-brain barrier. This suggests that piezo1 knockout may reduce cognitive impairment after brain ischemia. All patients accepted preoperative CGA by the multidisciplinary team using 13 common scales across 15 domains reflecting the multi-organ functions. The variables included demographic data, scales in CGA, comorbidities, laboratory tests and intraoperative anesthetic data. Cognitive function was assessed by Montreal Cognitive Assessment scale within 48 hours after admission and after surgery. Dropping of ≥ 1 point between the preoperative and postoperative scale was defined as POCD.Results: We enrolled 119 patients. The median age was 80.00 years [IQR, 77.00, 82.00] and 68 patients (57.1%) were female. Forty-two patients (35.3%) developed POCD. Three cognitive domains including calculation (P = 0.046), recall (P = 0.047) and attention (P = 0.007) were significantly worsened after surgery. Univariate analysis showed that disability of instrumental activity of daily living, incidence rate of postoperative respiratory failure (PRF) ≥ 4.2%, STOP-Bang scale score, Caprini risk scale score and Sufentanil for maintenance of anesthesia were different between the POCD and non-POCD patients. In the multivariable logistic regression analysis, PRF ≥ 4.2% (odds ratio [OR] = 2.343; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.028– 5.551; P = 0.046) and Sufentanil for maintenance of anesthesia (OR = 0.260; 95% CI: 0.057– 0.859; P = 0.044) was independently associated with POCD as risk and protective factors, respectively.Conclusion: Our study suggests that POCD is frequent among older patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgery, in which decline of calculation, recall and attention was predominant. Abstract: This paper presents a piecewise convexification method for solving non-convex multi-objective optimization problems with box constraints. Based on the ideas of the $\alpha$-based Branch and Bound (${\rm \alpha BB}$) method of global optimization and the interval subdivision, a series of convex relaxation sub-multiobjective problems for this non-convex multi-objective optimization problem are firstly obtained, and these sub-problems constitute a piecewise convexification problem of the original problem on the whole box. We then construct the (approximate, weakly) efficient solution set of this piecewise convexification problem, and use these sets to approximate the globally (weakly) efficient solution set of the original problem. Furthermore, we propose a piecewise convexification algorithm and show that this algorithm can also obtain approximate globally efficient solutions by calculating a finite subset of the efficient solution set of the multi-objective convex sub-problems only. Finally, its performance is demonstrated with various test instances.

Abstract: The E12-14-012 experiment, performed in Jefferson Lab Hall A, has measured the (e,e′p) cross section in parallel kinematics using a natural titanium target. In this paper, we report the analysis of the dataset obtained in different kinematics for our solid natural titanium target. Data were obtained in a range of missing momentum and missing energy between 15?pm?250 MeV/c and 12?Em?80 MeV, respectively, and using an electron beam energy of 2.2 GeV. We measured the reduced cross section with ∼7% accuracy as a function of both missing momentum and missing energy. Our Monte Carlo simulation, including both a model spectral function and the effects of final-state interactions, satisfactorily reproduces the data.

Abstract: The E12-14-012 experiment, performed in Jefferson Lab Hall A, has measured the $(e, e'p)$ cross section in parallel kinematics using a natural argon target. Here, we report the full results of the analysis of the data set corresponding to beam energy 2.222 GeV, and spanning the missing momentum and missing energy range $15 \lesssim p_m \lesssim 300$ MeV/c and $12 \lesssim E_m \lesssim 80$ MeV. The reduced cross section, determined as a function of $p_m$ and $E_m$ with $\approx$4\% accuracy, has been fitted using the results of Monte Carlo simulations involving a model spectral function and including the effects of final state interactions. The overall agreement between data and simulations turns out to be quite satisfactory ($\chi^2$/n.d.o.f.=1.9). The resulting spectral function will provide valuable new information, needed for the interpretation of neutrino interactions in liquid argon detectors., Comment: Published version

According to the SUA values of the subjects’ physical examination from 2017 to 2019, three different SUA trajectory groups were determined by R LCTM tools, namely low stability group, medium stability group and high stability group. The incidence of hypertension during physical examination in 2020 was followed up, the cumulative incidence rate in each group was calculated by product limit method, and the correlation between different SUA trajectories and new-onset hypertension was analyzed by Cox proportional hazards regression model.Results: The incidence rate of hypertension increased with the increase of SUA locus, which was 4.65%, 9.18% and 12.43% respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.001). After adjusting multiple confounding factors, such as gender, waist circumference (WC), blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and blood lipid by Cox proportional hazards regression model, the risk of hypertension in SUA medium stability and high stability group was still 1.476 times ( 95% CI: 1.089~2.000) and 1.692 times ( 95% CI: 1.152~2.484) of low-stable SUA group (P< 0.05).Conclusion: The risk of hypertension increases with the increase of SUA level in the long-term normal range. This metabolic reprogramming worsens inflammation and cascades into organ damage. Angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)], a small molecule, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties. This study investigates whether Ang-(1-7) mitigates inflammation in LPS-induced macrophages and septic mice by regulating the Warburg effect in immune metabolism.Methods: The study induced macrophages with LPS in vitro and measured inflammatory factors using ELISA and Western blot. Key enzymes in glycolysis, mitochondrial respiratory complexes, and citrate pathway key molecules were assessed using Western blot and qRT-PCR. Mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), lactate, and ATP were measured using assay kits. In vivo, a mouse model of sepsis induced by LPS was used. Kidney tissues were examined for pathological and mitochondrial ultrastructural alterations. The levels of inflammatory factors in mouse serum, glycolysis and citrate pathway-related molecules in the kidney were assessed using qRT-PCR, Western blot, and immunofluorescence techniques. Additionally, MMP, lactate, and ATP in the kidney were measured using assay kits.Results: In vitro experiments demonstrated that Ang-(1-7) inhibited the levels of inflammatory factors in LPS-treated RAW264.7 cells. It also reduced the expression of key glycolytic enzymes HK2, PFKFB3, and PKM2, as well as lactate levels. Additionally, it decreased intracellular citrate accumulation, enhanced mitochondrial respiratory complexes I and III, and ATP levels. Ang-(1-7) alleviated MMP damage, modulated citrate pathway-related molecules, including SLC25A1, ACLY, and HIF-1α. In vivo experiments showed that Ang-(1-7) lowered glycolysis levels in septic mice, improved mitochondrial ultrastructure and function, mitigated inflammation and renal tissues damage in septic mice, and suppressed the expression of key molecules in the citrate pathway.Conclusion: In conclusion, Ang-(1-7) can regulate the Warburg effect through the citrate pathway, thereby alleviating inflammation in LPS-induced macrophages and septic mice.Keywords: Ang-(1-7), macrophage, sepsis, Warburg effect, glycolysis, citrate

In this study, hydrogen therapy was investigated to determine whether it is superior to N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) for the treatment of patients with early-stage ILD.Patients and Methods: A prospective, single-center, randomized, controlled clinical trial was conducted in 87 patients with early-stage ILD. Hydrogen or NAC therapy was randomly assigned (1:1 ratio) to the eligible patients. The primary endpoint was the change in the high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and composite physiologic index (CPI) scores from baseline to week 48. Pulmonary function was evaluated as a secondary endpoint, and adverse events were recorded for safety analysis.Results: The rate of HRCT image improvement from the baseline in the HW group (63.6%) was higher than that in the NAC group (39.5%). A significant decrease in CPI and improvement in DLCO-sb were observed in the hydrogen group compared with those in the control group. Changes in other pulmonary function parameters, including FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC%, and TLC, were not significantly different between the two groups. Adverse events were reported in 7 (15.9%) patients in the HW group and 10 (23.3%) patients in the NAC group, but the difference was not significant (P=0.706).Conclusion: Hydrogen therapy exhibits superior efficacy and acceptable safety compared with NAC therapy in patients with early-stage ILD.Keywords: hydrogen, N-acetylcysteine, interstitial lung disease, therapeutic effects

Abstract: Negatively charged pions from two-body decays of stopped Λ4H hypernuclei were studied in 2012 at the Mainz Microtron MAMI, Germany. The momenta of the decay-pions were measured with unprecedented precision by using high-resolution magnetic spectrometers. A challenge of the experiment was the tagging of kaons from associated K+∧ production off a Be target at very forward angles. In the year 2014, this experiment was continued with a better control of the systematic uncertainties, with better suppression of coincident and random background, improved particle identification, and with higher luminosities. Another key point of the progress was the improvement in the absolute momentum calibration of the magnetic spectrometers.

Abstract: The E12-14-012 experiment, performed in Jefferson Lab Hall A, has measured the (e,e′p) cross section in parallel kinematics using a natural argon target. Here, we report the full results of the analysis of the data set corresponding to beam energy 2.222 GeV, and spanning the missing momentum and missing energy range 1 pm 300 MeV/c and 12 Em 80 MeV. The reduced cross section, determined as a function of pm and Em with ≈4% accuracy, has been fitted using the results of Monte Carlo simulations involving a model spectral function and including the effects of final state interactions. The overall agreement between data and simulations turns out to be quite satisfactory (χ2/d.o.f.=1.9). The resulting spectral function will provide valuable new information, needed for the interpretation of neutrino interactions in liquid argon detectors.

Abstract: We report precision determinations of the beam normal single spin asymmetries ($A_n$) in the elastic scattering of 0.95 and 2.18~GeV electrons off $^{12}$C, $^{40}$Ca, $^{48}$Ca, and $^{208}$Pb at very forward angles where the most detailed theoretical calculations have been performed. The first measurements of $A_n$ for $^{40}$Ca and $^{48}$Ca are found to be similar to that of $^{12}$C, consistent with expectations thus demonstrating the validity of theoretical calculations for nuclei with Z~$\leq20$. We also report $A_n$ for $^{208}$Pb at two new momentum transfers (Q$^2$) extending the previous measurement. Our new data confirm the surprising result previously reported, with all three data points showing significant disagreement with the results from the $Z\leq 20$ nuclei. These data confirm our basic understanding of the underlying dynamics that govern $A_n$ for nuclei containing $\lesssim 50$ nucleons, but point to the need for further investigation to understand the unusual $A_n$ behaviour discovered for scattering off $^{208}$Pb., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures

Abstract: The small binding energy of the hypertrition leads to predictions of non-existence of bound hypernuclei for isotriplet three-body systems such as $nn\Lambda$. However, invariant mass spectroscopy at GSI has reported events that may be interpreted as the bound $nn\Lambda$ state. The $nn\Lambda$ state was sought by missing-mass spectroscopy via the $(e,e'K^+)$ reaction at Jefferson Lab's experimental Hall A. The present experiment has higher sensitivity to the $nn\Lambda$-state investigation in terms of better precision by a factor of about three. The analysis shown in this article focuses on the derivation of the reaction cross-section for the $^3{\rm{H}}(\gamma^{*},K^+)\textrm{X}$ reaction. Events that were detected in an acceptance, where a Monte Carlo simulation could reproduce the data well ($|\delta p/p| < 4\%$), were analyzed to minimize the systematic uncertainty. No significant structures were observed with the acceptance cuts, and the upper limits of the production cross-section of the $nn\Lambda$ state were obtained to be $21$ and $31~\rm{nb/sr}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level when theoretical predictions of $(-B_{\Lambda}, \Gamma) = (0.25,0.8)$ and $(0.55, 4.7)$ MeV, respectively, were assumed.
