Recent studies suggest that in Upper Mesopotamia during the Late Neolithic period, specifically between 6400 and 5900 BCE, simple cereal flour doughs were baked in domed ovens using ceramic pans, commonly known as husking trays. Adopting an integrated approach that investigates various types of evidence, such as use-wear, phytoliths, and organic residues, we further refined and explored this hypothesis. Analysis of a sample of 13 sherds belonging to these trays from Mezraa Teleilat, Akarçay Tepe, and Tell Sabi Abyad provides evidence that a limited number of them could have been used to bake 'focaccia'-like products with ingredients such as lard or oil. This research project not only further strengthens the theory that husking trays could have been used for baking, but also provides insights into the variety and elaboration of food practices that existed amongst early agricultural communities, demonstrating the existence of a number of different 'recipes' for a particular dish. Furthermore, from a methodological perspective, this study highlights how only an integrated approach can contribute to the knowledge of the various culinary traits and traditions of ancient communities. AbstractIn this study, an experimental investigation of the hydrodynamics of a novel 3-dimensional centrifugal tray was carried out. Using a high-capacity cylindrical centrifugal tray (HCC centrifugal tray), the centrifugal force and, inertial separation technologies were applied to remove the capacity limitations caused by the gravitational constraints. An air-water system was used in a rectangular cross-section plexiglass tower (30 cm × 50 cm). The pressure drop (dry and total), weeping, entrainment and clear liquid height of the tray were measured, and finally, a comparison to ConCap, sieve and, valve trays was provided. The results revealed a positive hydrodynamic behavior of the tray, particularly when a high gas velocity was used. Also, the capacity and operating window of the tray were found to be markedly larger than those of the conventional trays. This novel HCC centrifugal tray offers a promising approach to retrofit and debottleneck the tray columns in industrial applications, since it is both practical and inexpensive. Fouling on column internals leads to many malfunctions in chemical processes every year. Despite the importance for the industry, only a few systematic studies exist on the fouling of column internals. Here, a new screening test rig is presented for the rapid and easy characterization of a wide range of internals with respect to their fouling tolerance. A countercurrent of saturated NaCl/water solution and air is used to force crystallization fouling. Photographs help to identify the initial points of fouling on two random packings and provide insights into the growth of deposits. In addition, the fouling tolerance of five different trays is investigated, demonstrating that trays with larger curtain area show greater fouling tolerance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hydraulic calculation of column internals is crucial for their design. The various fouling effects (due to crystallization, particles, chemical reaction) influence the hydraulics of columns in different ways (capacity, separation efficiency). However, current hydraulic models are based on clean systems and do not consider fouling. The three-dimensional dislocation cultivation system of factory hydroponic lettuce can be developed on the basis of increasing the number of cultivated plants per unit area without affecting the light of lettuce. To improve the mechanization rate of the system and reduce labor intensity, according to the characteristics of the three-dimensional dislocation cultivation, the planting cup was proposed to raise to a certain height before pushing the planting tray, and the colonization cup could cross the cultivation trough plug. The colonization tray was pushed up the cultivation trough, and a set of planting tray handling equipment was developed. Taking the lettuce colonization tray as test object, the Box-Behnken experimental design method was used to explore the factors affecting the success rate of the handling equipment on the plate, and the optimal parameter combination was discussed. The test results show that when the horizontal installation error of the cultivation tank is 0-5 mm with the guide plate angle of 60° and the advancing speed of 0.22 m/s, the largest success rate of the upper plate of 99.33% can be achieved, which can meet the three-dimensional dislocation production requirements of factory hydroponic lettuce. A digital approach is described for fabricating a splinted framework and custom open tray for the impression of multiple implants based on a virtually created implant cast with the digital prediction of the future impression coping positions. In this technique, impression copings to be used in the definitive impression‐making process were digitally scanned and aligned to a preliminary cast using installed protective caps of screw‐retained abutments as references, which resulted in a virtual cast that offers information both about the impression coping positions and their surrounding tissues and could allow a splinted framework and custom open tray to be digitally designed and fabricated. Creation of a virtual cast through digital technologies eliminates the traditional manual splinted framework and custom tray fabrication procedures. Additionally, only one set of impression copings and analogs is needed in this technique, thereby reducing treatment time and cost. There is relevant interest concerning beehives, taking into account climate change and its influence on bees' behavior. A part of the industrial engineering sector is focusing on beekeeping applications. More specifically, the present study aims to develop a trailer for the transport of beehives adapted to be placed or fixed to a tractor or a vehicle trailer, with the objective of transporting the beehives safely and stably during transhumance. The proposed novel design relates to a trailer that incorporates a device for housing a rectangular section of the beehives, which can be adapted for fixing or housing in a vehicle or in a vehicle trailer. The device comprises a lower support structure, adapted to support a plurality of rectangular sections of beehives stacked horizontally on the lower structure, an upper frame adapted to house the beehives inside, and two or more connecting elements between the lower structure and the upper frame. The connection of the trailer with the device facilitates the loading and unloading of the beehives by mechanical means. The different parts have been designed as individual pieces and then assembly is carried out to achieve the complete design. This method of implementation is because the simulation of individual components is simpler and easier, since if it is carried out through assembly, the type of joint, such as welding, and the length of the weld would have to be indicated at each point of contact between components, along with its thickness and all the necessary parameters. Therefore, in those welding points, fixed fastenings are indicated and so will simplify it. In accordance with the individual creation of each part, its own load simulation has been carried out. Static analyses are performed taking into account structural elements of this proposed design, with restrictions and loads being established. The analysis, including upper bars and supports, has been completed with several situations. Based on stress values, deformations have been determined and calculations evaluated. To investigate the flow characteristics of sieve tray columns with circular downcomers, the Euler–Euler gas–liquid two‐phase flow model is used to simulate a three‐dimensional sieve tray column. Each phase is regarded as an interpenetrating continuum with independent transport equations. The velocity distribution, clear liquid height, and foam layer height are predicted by the model. The correlation is established for predicting the clear liquid height on the sieve tray. The results show the following: (1) The sensitivity of the clear liquid height to the gas phase load is greater than that of the liquid phase load. (2) When the gas–liquid distribution is stable, the flow on the round sieve tray column presents a piston flow pattern. (3) The average liquid holdup of the circular downcomer of the three heights all showed a slow decrease at first, and then an inflection point appeared near the height of 0.02 m, after which the liquid holdup dropped sharply. (4) The established correlation has good predictive performance for calculating the clear liquid height in the column, and the relative error between the calculated value and the actual value is less than 10%. To address the issues of poor positioning accuracy, low supply efficiency and inadequate adaptability for different tray specifications of the existing seedling tray conveying device, a dual-axis positioning tray conveying device was developed, which can accommodate seedling trays ranging from 21 to 288 holes. A dual-sensor positioning algorithm and variable displacement positioning method were proposed to increase the efficiency, ensuring precise initial positioning and intermittent movements both along the seedling conveyance (X-axis) and platform movement (Y-axis). The system utilizes a precise positioning servo-control system with three-closed-loop controls and a PID algorithm enhanced through simulation to refine seedling positioning accuracy. Experiments with nine different tray specifications were conducted on a step-controlled platform to test suitability, validating the performance of the initial positioning and intermittent transport in both the X and Y directions. On the X-axis, the initial positioning deviation of the seedling tray was up to 1.34 mm and the maximum deviation in the intermission conveying was 0.85 mm. Comparatively, the deviation on the Y-axis was smaller, with the initial positioning deviation up to 0.99 mm and the intermission moving deviation up to 0.98 mm. These results demonstrate that the designed device meets the requirements for precise transport, providing essential technological foundations for seedling tray transport and retrieval steps in fully automated transplanting machines. This research enhances the thermal efficiency of a pyramid solar distiller (PSD) through 4 E (energy, exergy, economic, and environmental) analysis. The modified distiller (MPSD) features suspended trays on three vertical walls, tested with and without heaters, and various water levels (6.2–49.6 L) in the basin. The study also examined MPSD's performance with an external condenser, aided by a fan operating at different speeds (0.25–1.5 rpm). Results showed that the MPSD, with a water depth of 1 cm and 12.4 L in the basin, achieved a 33 % yield improvement and 50.2 % efficiency. Total productivity of MPSD reached 3755 mL/m2 compared to 2820 mL/m2 for the PSD. MPSD with heaters produced 6430 mL/m2, reflecting a 98.5 % increase. The best performance occurred at 1.25 rpm, with a 133 % productivity increase, 66.5 % thermal efficiency, and 4.58 % exergy efficiency. The water cost was $0.23/L for the MPSD, lower than the PSD's $0.34/L. CO₂ emissions were 30.93–32.23 tons per year for different configurations, and enviroeconomic indicators were 447.46–467.33 annually, depending on the setup.

In order to improve the feeding efficiency of the push-rod device of the pre-filled syringe, the simulation analysis was carried out based on the JKR model of EDEM software. With the push-rod as the research object and the discharge number in specified time period as the evaluation index, the influences of the inner tray rotation speed, the outer tray rotation speed, the tilt angle of the inner rotation tray, the angle of the cone tray and the outer rotation radius on the discharge efficiency of the push-rod were investigated. Firstly, single factor analysis was carried out to determine the influence of each single factor and screen out the four factors that with greater influence. Then the orthogonal design of four factors and three levels was carried out to determine the optimal parameter combination and the order of the influence degree of each factor on the discharge efficiency. The discharge stability was studied and the best feeding method was obtained. Finally, the experimental validation was carried out. The results show that the maximum error of simulation and test is 9.6%, which indicates that the simulation analysis of the model is reliable. The objective of this research was to analyse the shot following the return in men's and women's professional padel according to the importance of the point and the service tactical position. The type of shot following the return, importance of the shot and tactical position of the serving pair were recorded by systematic observation. A total of 2752 points (1431 men's and 1321 women's) from 69 matches played in the 2021 season of the World Padel Tour circuit were used. The results show that while men use more forehand and backhand volleys as shots following the return, women use more trays or smashes and back wall shots. In addition, while the server is the one who plays the most third shots following a straight return in men's padel (forehand and backhand volleys) and women's (forehand volleys and backhand volleys), the server's partner is the one who plays the most third shots following a lob return in the men's category (trays or smashes and back wall shots) and women's category (trays or smashes and back wall shots). Moreover, the importance of the point and the service position are parameters that affect the shot following the return in men's and women's professional padel. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ceramic type, firing tray, and firing substrate on the density, shrinkage, biaxial flexural strength, Martens' hardness, and elastic indentation modulus of zirconia veneering ceramics. Disk-shaped specimens were fabricated from a high-fusing (HFZ) and a low-fusing (STR) zirconia veneering ceramic. These specimens were then divided into 10 groups according to firing trays (round, small honeycomb-shaped, cordierite [RSC]; round, large honeycomb-shaped, aluminum oxide [RLA]; rectangular, plane, silicon nitride [RCPS]; round, plane, silicon nitride [RPS]; and rectangular, plane, calcium silicate [RCPC]) and firing substrates (firing cotton and platinum foil) used (n = 12). The density, shrinkage, biaxial flexural strength, Martens' hardness, and indentation modulus were measured, and analyzed with generalized linear model analysis (α = 0.05). The interaction between the ceramic type and firing substrate affected density (p < 0.001), and the other outcomes were affected by the interaction among all main factors (p ≤ 0.045). Higher density was observed with HFZ or platinum foil (p ≤ 0.007). RSC and RLA led to a higher density than RCPS within HFZ and led to the lowest density within STR (p ≤ 0.046). STR had a higher shrinkage (p < 0.001). RSC mostly led to a lower shrinkage of HFZ (p ≤ 0.045). The effect of ceramic type and firing substrates on the biaxial flexural strength, Martens' hardness, and indentation modulus was minimal while there was no clear trend on the effect of firing tray on these properties. Ceramic type, firing tray, and firing substrate affected the mechanical properties of the tested zirconia veneering ceramics. Firing the tested zirconia veneering ceramics over a round and small honeycomb-shaped cordierite firing tray with firing cotton mostly led to improved mechanical properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Anaesthetic drug administration is complex, and typical clinical environments can entail significant cognitive load. Colour-coded anaesthetic drug trays have shown promising results for error identification and reducing cognitive load. We used experimental psychology methods to test the potential benefits of colour-coded compartmentalised trays compared with conventional trays in a simulated visual search task. Effects of cognitive load were also explored through an accompanying working memory-based task. We hypothesised that colour-coded compartmentalised trays would improve drug-detection error, reduce search time, and reduce cognitive load. This comprised a cognitive load memory task presented alongside a visual search task to detect drug errors. All 53 participants completed 36 trials, which were counterbalanced across the two tray types and 18 different vignettes. There were 16 error-present and 20 error-absent trials, with 18 trials presented for each preloaded tray type. Syringe errors were detected more often in the colour-coded trays than in the conventional trays (91% vs 83%, respectively; P =0.006). In signal detection analysis, colour-coded trays resulted in more sensitivity to the error signal (2.28 vs 1.50, respectively; P <0.001). Confidence in response accuracy correlated more strongly with task performance for the colour-coded tray condition, indicating improved metacognitive sensitivity to task performance (r =0.696 vs r =0.447). Colour coding and compartmentalisation enhanced visual search efficacy of drug trays. This is further evidence that introducing standardised colour-coded trays into operating theatres and procedural suites would add an additional layer of safety for anaesthetic procedures. Transplanting seedlings from plug trays into the field can cause transplant shock and lower the seedling survival rate. In order to avoid the need for a complicated clamping mechanism, this study developed a biodegradable seedling plug-tray cutting mechanism (SPCM) that separates seedlings with plug cells from plug trays. In order to cut and separate the plug cell from the plug tray and enable the seedling to fall into the transplanting hopper, the three sub-mechanisms that make up the SPCM align the plug cell at the point of seedling discharge. Approximately 82% of the plug cell was separated by the SPCM before being delivered to the planting unit. Additionally, using pepper and cabbage seedlings, the SPCM-equipped transplanter achieved a 74% transplanting performance, with an average field efficiency of 68%, a field capacity of 0.032-0.035 ha h-1, and a labor requirement that was 73% lower than that of manual seedling transplanting. The majority of pepper seedlings (85%) were transplanted with a planting angle of less than 10°, and 7% of cabbage seedlings were inclined with a planting depth of 48 mm for pepper and 53 mm for cabbage. These transplanting results were considered satisfactory. In conclusion, the SPCM represents a step toward effective and sustainable vegetable seedling transplanting. White‐button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) are short‐lived commodities and preserving freshness and quality poses significant challenges. Considering active packaging as a possibility to extend mushroom shelf life, in the present work two alternative systems were evaluated for their after harvest effects on quality and control of microbiological contamination. Chitosan films, with or without turmeric, were used to layer polystyrene trays for mushroom storage at a temperature of 7°C ± 1.5°C for up to 17 days. At retrieval from storage, quality parameters, respiration rates, total polyphenols and psychrotrophic bacteria counts were determined. Chitosan layers resulted in significantly lower microbiological contamination and the inclusion of turmeric reduced in approximately 2 log CFU g−1 microbial counts compared to the usual storage procedure. Chitosan and chitosan plus turmeric layers enhanced fresh mass losses, though quality traits, polyphenols and respiratory patterns were not influenced by any of the film layering's in the polystyrene trays. These findings suggest that storage trays layered with chitosan and turmeric effectively mitigate microbial contamination on white‐button mushrooms without compromising overall quality characteristics. Discrete event simulation is a well‐established tool for examining the effect of different operating room (OR) block schedules on various performance metrics within the OR suite and adjacent units. However, one unit that has rarely been studied is the sterilization processing department (SPD), which cleans and assembles reusable OR instruments. As part of a larger research study, we developed a series of OR block assignment models that sought to reduce the workload of the SPD and developed a tray optimization model to reduce the number of instruments on increasingly bloated instrument trays. While initial numerical experiments were promising, a comprehensive simulation model of the OR and SPD was needed to more thoroughly examine how potential changes to the block schedule and/or more efficient tray configurations could improve SPD processing times. In this article, we incorporate the SPD into an existing simulation model of an OR suite, which is the first of its kind, and examine the effect that different block schedules and tray configurations have on SPD processing times. Simulation results confirm earlier numerical computations. Furthermore, simulation results suggest that more efficient instrument tray configurations are a much better and more viable method for improving SPD processing time than reconfiguring block schedules. Many techniques have been described in the article to simplify indirect bonding (IDB) procedures. Polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) heavy body clear is an alternative transfer tray material that allows light-cured adhesive systems. The clinician could do this modified indirect bonding method as it does not require elaborate laboratory procedures, saving time and being less expensive. This study aimed to measure the bracket placement accuracy with an indirect bonding technique using PVS heavy body clear tray. Three pairs of working models with crowding class 1 were fabricated, then brackets were placed with double-sided tape onto the working models. Trays were made then the brackets were transferred to the patient models. The bracket positions were measured before and after the transfer with ADOBE photoshop. Bracket placement accuracy was determined in three dimensions: vertical, horizontal, and angulation. Bracket positioning differences were not statistically significant, indicating final bracket positions within the selected limits except on the anterior lower left group in vertical and angulation dimensions. Indirect bonding using PVS heavy body clear trays generally accurately transfers the planned bracket position from the working models to the patient models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the effect of sub-chilling whole gutted salmon and sub-chilled storage at −1 °C in modified-atmosphere packaging in two recyclable mono-material trays (CPET, HDPE). Quality parameters were measured, including water-holding properties, salt content, color, texture, lipid oxidation, and sensory and microbiological shelf life. The oxygen transmission rate was measured for the packages. Compared to traditional fish storage on ice, sub-chilling gave a 0.4% weight gain, better water-holding capacity, and higher salt content. The sub-chilled fish gave a significantly better sensory quality and microbiological shelf life of up to 49 days. Photobacterium was the dominating bacteria during storage. Salmon packaged in CPET trays had a higher drip loss than HDPE trays, but a lower rate of lipid oxidation (1-penten-3-ol). Our results showed the feasibility of significantly extending shelf life with sub-chilling, removing the need for ice. Purpose: A high transfer accuracy of the intraoral implant position to a model is required, to manufacture implant-supported restorations. However, clinically relevant deviations persist between the intraoral implant position and the model obtained, even for the benchmark conventional custom implant impressions with polyether. Thus, new approaches using 3-D printed impression trays may increase the transfer accuracy of implant impressions. The ability to adjust parameters such as the thickness of the layers and the influence of the openings in the impression tray could potentially affect accuracy. Methods: Four different types of impression trays (n = 10 for each group) for the conventional impression technique were investigated: conventional custom impression tray, customized foil tray, chairside 3-D printed impression tray with the SHERA system, and the Primeprint system using an implant master model with four implants in the posterior region and a reference cube. After plaster model casting, all models were measured using a coordinate measuring machine, and the deviation from the reference dataset was determined. A statistical ANOVA analysis was performed (p < 0.05). Results: Chairside 3-D printed impression trays showed the best results, followed by conventional custom impression trays. Implant impressions obtained using a customized foil tray exhibited the lowest accuracy. Statistically significant differences were observed between 3-D printed impression trays and conventional custom impression and customized foil trays (p < 0.05). Whereas, the implant position did not have any significant influence on accuracy (p > 0.05). In order to reduce leachate from food waste a conventional tray cabinet dryer was designed and built, and the drying process of these wastes was investigated. A 2.7 kW heater equipped with an axial fan was used as the heating source. The experiments were performed at three temperatures of 50, 60, and 70 °C and three air velocities of 1, 1.5, and 2 m/s with a thickness of 3 cm. A conventional tray was used for drying. The Drying kinetics, effective moisture diffusivity and activation energy during drying of food waste were obtained. Results showed that improving air distribution in the back of the tray and no passing air on the sides of the tray causes that increase the drying rate significantly. The minimum drying process was occurred in temperature of 70°C and air velocity of 2 m/s at the 120 min. Effective moisture diffusivity of waste food during the drying process was in the range of 2.74×10-9-3.65×10-8 m²/s. The values for activation energy have ranged from a minimum of 21.6 kJ/mol in 1.5 m/s air velocity up to a maximum of 64.0 kJ/mol in 2m/s air velocity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This prospective clinical study aimed to compare transfer accuracy and immediate loss rate of hard versus soft transfer trays utilizing a CAD/CAM workflow. We performed virtual bracket placement on intraoral scans of adolescent patients to create individual indirect bonding trays. Orthodontic software (Appliance Designer, 3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) was used to design the trays, which were then produced using 3D printing technology. Patients were randomly assigned to the hard or soft resin groups with a 1:1 allocation. Subgroups were determined based on the Little's Irregularity Index and distributed equally. 552 brackets were bonded onto adolescent patients using 46 CAD/CAM indirect bonding trays. The linear mean transfer errors ranged from –0.011 mm (soft) to –0.162 mm (hard) and angularly –0.255° (hard) and –0.243° (soft). No statistically significant differences were found between the subgroups or soft and hard resin groups. However, the transfer accuracy of molar brackets was significantly lower in the transversal and horizontal directions. All mean transfer errors were within the limits of clinical acceptability. The loss rate was 2.4 % in the hard resin group and 2.3 % in the soft resin group. The Intra Observer Correlation was excellent. CAD/CAM technology for indirect bracket bonding has been proven reliable in a randomized clinical trial. BACKGROUND: Cellular foam materials are excellent engineering materials for many applications in chemical engineering, especially process intensification of chemical conversions and separation. Recently, a silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic foam monolithic tray was developed as an excellent mass transfer tool to improve distillation and it showed an improved operational flexibility. Previous studies have revealed the effects of open cell diameter and tray thickness on the hydraulic performance and mass transfer efficiency of SiC foam monolithic trays, but relevant correlations are still missing, limiting their practical uses. RESULTS: In this study, based on the published experimental data, empirical correlations were developed to predict the hydrodynamic performance and mass transfer efficiency of SiC ceramic foam monolithic trays. The new correlations include the influence of the tray structure parameters, such as open cell (or pore) diameter and tray thickness, and of the operation conditions (such as the liquid and vapor volumetric flow rates), and the data obtained agree well with the experimental results. CONCLUSION: The availability of such empirical correlations can be beneficial for the chemical engineering design of practical distillation processes based on SiC foam monolithic trays. © 2023 The Authors. Pigment extraction from annatto seed results in large amounts of by‐products (~97%) and residual carotenoid content. In this work, composite foam trays containing 90:10 (10AR), 80:20 (20AR), and 70:30 (30AR) cassava starch: annatto residue (AR) ratios were prepared by thermopressing. The physical–chemical properties, thermal stability, antioxidant activity, and biodegradability of the composite foam trays and cassava starch foam tray (control) were measured and compared. High AR ratio (20AR and 30AR) yielded thicker (2.1–2.3 mm), denser (0.72–0.74 g/cm3), and less porous (32.5–33%) composite foam trays than the control due to incomplete cassava starch gelatinization and the presence of fibers, lipids, and proteins in AR. Thus, the composite foam trays had lower mechanical resistance (0.4–0.8 MPa) and elongation (0.4%–0.7%) than the control (2.9 MPa and 1.5%). However, addition of high AR ratio increased the foam tray resistance to water and yielded colorful foam trays with antioxidant property as measured by DPPH• (0.11 to 0.52 μM TE/100 g) and ABTS•+ (7.86–53.77 μM TE/100 g). Increasing the AR ratio in the composite foam tray delayed the biodegradation time by 17 days as compared to the control, but all the foam trays were more biodegradable than EPS. Climate change requires a transition to crops that need less water and are more tolerant of high temperatures. In this regard, the adaptation of Moringa oleifera to the Spanish Mediterranean Basin offers the sustainable alternative production of a plant with a high nutritional value. It might also serve as a substitute crop with significant economic potential in less developed tropical regions in the world. Moreover, to provide the market with a homogeneous product, the stabilization of the leaves is necessary. The lack of control in the traditional form of moringa leaf drying (which only makes use of shade and air) does not guarantee a final homogeneous water content that can extend the crop's shelf life. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to develop a modular, affordable, and expandable dryer that enables the dehydration of leaves in the same field, lowering production costs in the process. The drying kinetics of leaves from crops of different ages (1 and 4 years) have been fitted to several mathematical models, using the "field dryer" and a semi-industrial tray dryer. In addition, their physicochemical properties were also compared. The outcomes demonstrate the viability of the field dryer's design. The drying kinetics of both dryers were more effectively adapted to the logarithmic model. Due to the variable air conditions in the field, the equilibrium moisture level attained was somewhat greater using the field dryer than using the tray dryer, but the product color and antioxidant and protein contents were similar. This study investigated the design of a tray bioreactor for solid-state fermentation, applying Rhizopus oryzae to oilseed meals as the substrate. Two process variables were continuously monitored in the bioreactor to ensure precise control of the environmental conditions: temperature and relative humidity (RH). The comprehensive analysis covered the effects of different fermentation conditions on the protein content, technological properties, and molecular distribution of the samples. The study revealed that the configuration factors suffered a stratification within the three trays of the bioreactor. Notably, the upper tray registered the largest dispersion, with a range of 1.5 °C. When analyzing the differences between sensors within each tray, the largest difference was found in the lower tray (10.9%). Furthermore, higher EAI (Emulsifying Activity Index) values were observed in the upper tray (T3) for rapeseed. As for ESI (Emulsion Stability Index) values, no differences were observed between the trays or fermentation periods. Using the changes induced by Rhizopus oryzae fungal enzymes, the study quantitatively examined the changes in the by-product valorization. While the bioreactor factors did not affect the protein quantity itself, they had significant impacts on specific changes within the molecular weight protein fraction. The findings of this study offer significant insights into the complex dynamics of solid-state fermentation processes. Background: 3D printing technology is replacing manual fabrication in all fields. 3D-printed impression trays should be assessed as they could replace conventional impression trays in the future. Aim: In-vitro comparison and evaluation of the dimensional stability and retention strength of impressions to custom impression trays fabricated using conventional method and additive technology. Materials and Methods: A maxillary edentulous auto-polymerizing acrylic resin model served as the master model. Two moulds were prepared from the master model in order to obtain 12 casts. One cast was scanned for 3D printing digital light processing (DLP) and fused deposition modelling (FDM) 24 impression trays using polylactic acid (PLA). Twelve casts were used to fabricate light cure impression trays. Polyvinyl-siloxane impressions were made on the master model using 36 impression trays and 18 trays each were used to assess dimensional stability and retention strength. Results: In dimensional stability analysis, one sample t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between each group and the master model followed by a one-way ANOVA. There were significant differences, but the difference was less with FDM trays (P < 0.05). In retention strength analysis, one-way Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed statistically significant difference between each group and post-hoc test revealed specific difference, the highest with FDM trays (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Dimensional changes were observed at 30 minutes and 72 hours. Lesser dimensional changes were observed when impressions were made using FDM trays followed by DLP and light cure trays. The mean retention strength seen in descending order was FDM, followed by DLP and light cure trays. The best retention strength was noticed when impressions were made using FDM trays. The present in vitro study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of three-dimensional (3D) printed indirect bonding trays consisting of hard or soft resin materials produced using computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM). Forty-eight dental casts were 3D printed. Four groups based on frontal crowding were defined and divided into hard- and soft-resin groups. After virtual bracket positioning on the digital models, the transfer trays were 3D printed. To evaluate the accuracy of the procedure, measurements were performed using a digital overlay of the virtual (target) bracket position and a post-bonding scan. The horizontal, transverse, and vertical deviations and angular discrepancies were analyzed. The loss rate was evaluated descriptively as a percentage. A total of 553 brackets were bonded using 24 soft and 24 resilient indirect bonding trays. The mean deviations were of 0.05 mm (transversal), 0.05 mm (horizontal), 0.09 mm (vertical), 0.13° (angulation) in the resilient resin group and of 0.01 mm (transversal), 0.08 mm (horizontal), 0.08 mm (vertical), 0.37° (angular) in the soft resin group. The loss rate was 6.9% and 0.7% in the hard and soft resin groups, respectively. Angular deviations were significantly higher in the soft resin group (P = 0.009), whereas the loss rate was considerably higher in the hard resin group (P < 0.001). The findings indicate that indirect bonding using CAD/CAM is an accurate procedure in the laboratory setting. The cultivated tomato is one of the most consumed vegetables in the world, and the preparation of seedlings plays a fundamental role in the success of the crop, which is often plagued by fungi and bacteria from its earliest stages. This study aimed to analyze the emergence speed index and morphological parameters of Wanda hybrid cherry tomato seedlings (Solanum lycopersicum var. pimpinellifolium) in trays with two different types and levels of substrates in a protected environment using certified seeds. The experiment was conducted in the greenhouse of the IFCE—Campus Crato during the months of August and September 2022. Two basic substrates were used to promote germination and emergence: one was the commercial Vivato Slim Plus®, and the other was based on worm humus produced in Minhobuckets kits. The experimental design was completely randomized, consisting of five doses of commercial substrate (SBC) and earthworm humus (HDM) in the following proportions: S1—HDM; S2—SBC; S3—HDM + SBC (1:1), S4—HDM + SBC (1:3), and S5—HDM + SBC (3:1). The ESI, morphological parameters (SD, PH, ROOTL, and NL), and the dry biomass of the seedlings (LDB, SDB, RDB, and TDB) were determined. Data were subjected to an analysis of variance, and Tukey's test (0.05) was used; dry biomass data were submitted to square root transformation. For the emergence speed index, SBC (S2) outperformed the others. Regarding the morphological parameters and dry biomass, all substrates yielded satisfactory results, despite not showing a statistical difference between the averages. In this work, drying characteristics and kinetic behavior of coal slurry were investigated. The drying tests were performed using natural draught tray dryer for power industry. The impacts of drying temperature (35°C to 90°C) and sample mass (5 g to 25 g) on moonidih and patherdih coal slurry samples were investigated. The results revealed that increasing the temperature from 35°C to 90°C raised the maximum drying rate from 11.20 to 38.72 g/s.min2 in 1.5 hr representing a 70% rise in the drying rate. As a result, the drying temperature and sample mass had a considerable influence on the drying process. The drying time was lowered and the drying rate was improved by raising the drying temperature. The Midilli-Kucuk model suited these drying data the best, suggesting that moisture transport in coal slurry samples was mostly regulated by internal diffusion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The intention of providing this paper is to conduct an experimental investigation into the hydrodynamics of the push valve centrifugal tray, which has a new configuration, in order to retrofit the purpose of a stripper oil sweeting of Lavan oil manufacture. Experiments were performed on the commercial scale column by an air-water simulator rig. Two different pilot plants with 1.2 m and 3 m diameter have been used for experiments. Dry pressure drop, total pressure drop, and weeping data are presented on the commercial scale 1.2 m diameter column. The results compared with a sieve tray. Some correlations for the pressure drop and the weeping are presented. A pilot plant with a large diameter, 3 m, was also installed to predict the pressure drop with the exact characterization as the stripper column of Lavan oil manufacture to predict its pressure drop. The experiments were carried out in two different outlet weir heights, 0, 3 cm, and 2- and 4%-holes areas at various operating conditions. This article also introduced a new downcomer and tray design of the centrifugal tray. The process of plug tray seedling transplanting is a crucial step in protected agriculture production. Due to issues such as high labor intensity, poor consistency of work quality, and low efficiency, the application of automated transplanting machines has provided a solution to these issues. For the diversity of transplanting operations, various mechanical structures and technological applications have been developed for automated transplanting equipment. Therefore, this paper provides systematic research of current studies on the key transplanter technologies. Firstly, through an analysis of the types of transplanting operations, the technical requirements of automated transplanting equipment for different operation types are elucidated. Subsequently, the key technologies applied in transplanting machines are discussed from the perspectives of substrate physical characteristics, end effectors, integration of multiple end effectors, vision systems, and transplanting path planning. Moreover, an analysis is conducted on the advantages, disadvantages, and application scenarios of different research methods for each key technology. Lastly, the existing problems and technical difficulties of the transplanting machine are summarized, and future research directions are discussed. Sugarcane straw fiber (SSF) samples were prepared by chemical pulping (CP) and steam explosion (STE). CP (5, 10, 15% NaOH + 0.2% w/w anthraquinone at 121 °C for 1 h) and STE pressure (1.77, 1.96, and 2.16 MPa at 220 °C for 4 min) SSF trays were molded with a hydraulic hot-press machine at 120 °C, 7 min, and 1.72 MPa. The yield (%) of SSF from STE (54–60% dry basis (db.)) was higher than CP (32–48% db.). STE trays had greater tensile strength than CP. However, STE's elongation and compression strength was lower than CP tray samples. The trays made from SSF using STE had less swelling in thickness, longer water wetting time, and a higher water contact angle than those made from CP. The micrographs displayed a smaller size of SSF obtained in STE than the CP. The appearance and area of peaks in ATR-FTIR spectra and XRD diffractograms, respectively, revealed that the STE trays had a larger residual lignin content from the lignin study and a lower crystallinity index than the CP trays. Moreover, the lightness values of the STE trays were lower than those of the CP trays due to lignin retention. The study results indicate that CP is the preferred method for producing SSF packaging material with high flexibility and fiber purity. However, when considering the specific SF of 4.28, the STE treatment showed superior physical and mechanical properties compared to CP. This suggests that STE could be an excellent alternative green pulping technique for producing durable biobased trays. Overall, the findings highlight the potential of STE as a viable option for obtaining trays with desirable characteristics, providing a sustainable and efficient approach to tray production.
