Recognition that schools should be responsive to children who are impacted by adversity and trauma is burgeoning internationally. However, consensus regarding the necessary components of a trauma-informed school is lacking. This research developed expert-informed and internationally relevant best-practice trauma-informed principles for schools. A four-phase methodology included (i) identification of school-relevant trauma-informed practice programs, (ii) inductive thematic analysis of the main concepts underlying programs, (iii) phrasing of draft Principles and (iv) Principle revision and finalisation via a two-round Delphi survey with international experts. Excellent agreement by experts on the importance of all Principles was achieved (round 1 ≥ 86.4%, 2 ≥ 92.3%). The final 'International Trauma-Informed Practice Principles for Schools' (ITIPPS) include four Overarching (A–D) and 10 Practice Principles (1–10). Summarised, these include that the school: (A) is student focussed; (B) models compassion and generosity; (C) is understanding and responsive; (D) incorporates recognition of their First Nations peoples in the school's ethos: (1) prioritises safety and wellbeing; (2) models positive relationships; (3) provides a positive culture and connects; (4) consults and collaborates; (5) supports vulnerable students; (6) teaches social and emotional learning; (7) provides trauma-informed practice training; (8) is predictable yet flexible; (9) identifies and nurtures strengths and (10) reflects, changes and grows. The ITIPPS provide clear guidance for education sectors, schools and other settings about appropriate learning environments for children and young people impacted by trauma. Research is now underway in Western Australian schools to pilot test the feasibility and impact of using the ITIPPS within a framework (thoughtfulschools.org.au) to establish trauma-informed schools. The initial aim of this research was to undertake an in-depth study to understand the impact of COVID-19 on early years practitioners. Following a survey and interviews with staff in Kids Planet Day Nurseries, an early years organisation in England, we used thematic analysis to analyse their responses. The findings were diverse, particularly highlighting the centrality of relationships in influencing how people responded to the anxiety caused by the pandemic, but the learning did not stop there. The research team was multidisciplinary, including university researchers and a manager from Kids Planet. It was discovered that the professional role of the interviewer influenced the response to the questions. Similarly, discussions within the research group highlighted the entanglement of knowledge acquisition and ethical practice, with consequent challenges. We discuss the value of explicitly supporting a relational worldview in Early Childhood Education and Care as the foundation for understanding and promoting improved ways of working together. Prior trauma exposure significantly increases the risk of developing PTSD following medical stressors and may contribute to the development of medically induced PTSD. However, healthcare systems often overlook the interaction between prior trauma and current medical stressors, contributing to negative psychosocial and health-related outcomes for patients. Integration of both trauma-informed and trauma-focused practices into psychosocial programming in medical settings may be key to effectively addressing the needs of trauma-exposed patients. Yet, there is a lack of practical guidance on how clinical psychologists in medical settings can respond to trauma's effects in routine clinical practice. This paper aims to provide an overview of trauma-focused theory, assessment, and treatment considerations within medical settings, emphasizing the importance of incorporating trauma-focused intervention into integrated psychosocial programming to address prior trauma and its impacts on care in order to improve patient outcomes. Background: There is an intricate relationship between the mind and the body in experiences of health and wellbeing. This can result in complexity of both symptom presentation and experience. Although the contribution of life trauma to illness experience is well described, this is not always fully recognised or addressed in healthcare encounters. Negotiating effective and acceptable trauma-informed conversations can be difficult for clinicians and patients. Aim: To explore the experience of primary care practitioners caring for women through a trauma-informed care lens. Design and setting: Qualitative study in the general practice setting of England, with reflections from representatives of a group with lived experience of trauma. Method: This was a secondary thematic analysis of 46 qualitative interviews conducted online/by telephone to explore primary care practitioners' experiences of supporting women's health needs in general practice, alongside consultation with representatives of a lived-experience group to contextualise the findings. Results: Four themes were constructed: 'you prioritise physical symptoms because you don't want to miss something'; you do not want to alienate people by saying the wrong thing; the system needs to support trauma-informed care; and delivering trauma-informed care takes work that can have an impact on practitioners. Conclusion: Primary care practitioners are aware of the difficulties in discussing the interface between trauma and illness with patients, and request support and guidance in how to negotiate this supportively. People in prisons have high levels of trauma exposure throughout their lives. Presentations are often complex, with a high prevalence of PTSD and CPTSD and other mental health comorbidities. Prisons themselves can be stressful and traumatising environments. There are challenges in the delivery of effective treatments for PTSD and CPTSD. There is a need for the development of effective clinical pathways for these conditions that are embedded within trauma-informed organisational approaches. Responding to this need, this report is the result of a multidisciplinary expert consensus meeting and review of the research literature on PTSD, CPTSD, associated comorbidities and optimal approaches to trauma-informed practice. The group consisted of 24 expert representatives from psychology, psychiatry, healthcare, academia, social care and Welsh Government. The meeting commenced with presentations on various aspects of the clinical pathway for PTSD and complex PTSD in prisons, and of applications of trauma-informed practice within prisons. Small sub-groups then provided practical recommendations and solutions relevant to their assigned topic. Findings were presented to all meeting attendees for another round of discussion and debate, until consensus was reached. The adoption of trauma-informed practices in schools is a significant and growing area of school reform efforts. It has been assumed that professional development aimed at influencing teacher attitudes toward trauma-informed care in schools is an important first step in adopting trauma-informed practices and improving student and school outcomes. However, there are gaps in the literature assessing the impact of trauma-informed professional development on teacher attitudes toward trauma-informed care, and there is little evidence linking changes in teacher attitudes to changes in practices. This exploratory study assessed teacher responses to a year-long pilot program providing intensive professional development and consultation on trauma-informed practices in one urban elementary school in the U.S. Southwest. Youth involved in child welfare may benefit from programming that enhances their relationship skills given their susceptibility to engaging in high-risk interpersonal behaviors that can lead to challenges such as, engaging in or experiencing violence, housing and job insecurity, and poor physical and mental health. This research explored the feasibility of implementing an evidence-based healthy relationships program, the Healthy Relationships Plus Program - Enhanced (HRP-E), with youth involved in child welfare. Over 9 months, four HRP-E groups were facilitated at a Children's Aid Society in Ontario, Canada, involving 28 youth. Interviews were conducted with facilitators (n = 5) and youth (n = 13) to examine their views of the program. Facilitators also completed surveys that evaluated the facilitation of each session and overall program implementation. A thematic analysis of the data was conducted and results indicated that the HRP-E was perceived as a valuable program that is relevant and useful for youth involved in child welfare. Participants highlighted trauma-informed practices and organizational resources that are required when facilitating the HRP-E within a child welfare context. The present findings address the theory-to-practice gap by illustrating the practical application of trauma-informed program facilitation. High‐risk behaviours are sometimes encountered in Child and Adolescent inpatient mental health units and can prompt the use of coercive practices to maintain safety. Coercive practices may lead to re‐traumatisation of young people and deteriorating therapeutic relationships. Trauma‐informed practice (TIP) has successfully reduced coercive practices. While education is identified as foundational to implementation, evaluations of programmes remain minimal. The aim of this study was to explore mental health professionals' views and experiences of a trauma‐informed education programme and its likely impact on their approach to practice. Five mental health professionals agreed to participate, four contributed in a focus group and one in an individual interview. Data were analysed thematically using the Braun and Clarke Framework. Three main themes were identified. Firstly, shifting attitudes and perceptions of trauma‐informed practice. Participants believed they had developed more compassion towards clients and these attitudes were reflected in their clinical practice. Secondly, challenges associated with trauma‐informed practice educational intervention. Staffing issues and shift work made it difficult for participants to attend education sessions regularly. Participants identified barriers to practicing in a trauma‐informed manner in the current clinical environment. Finally, the need for interdisciplinary communication and support was identified. Participants saw the need for all professionals, not only nurses, to take responsibility for changing practice, and for stronger support at the organisational level. Trauma‐informed practice is crucial to recovery‐focused mental health nursing practice. ABSTRACT Trauma negatively impacts on the ability of children in out‐of‐home care to experience safety in their relationships. Trauma rearousal can continue to occur even when children are living in a safe and stable setting due to environmental triggers. Carers who are emotionally regulated themselves can model and support emotional regulation (known as coregulation) when their child becomes dysregulated. To do this, carers need agencies to provide trauma‐informed and therapeutic models of care, so they in turn can offer an emotionally secure experience for their child. This article reports on participatory action research with caseworkers from two nongovernment and one government organisation who supported foster and kinship carers to coregulate with children in long‐term care. Reflective practice meetings were held over an eight‐month period to capture the perspectives and experiences of 16 caseworkers who trialled practice changes for coregulation. An inductive analysis approach was used to elicit themes. Findings revealed a three‐phase process took place for caseworkers and carers to (1) acknowledge the presence of trauma and stress, (2) become aware of their own emotional capacity and (3) apply coregulation strategies. This process was possible when organisations promoted trauma awareness and relational safety, thereby creating a ‘holding environment’ for their caseworkers and allowing coregulation to be experienced by carers and their children. Nearly every student today is coming into informal education programs with some form of trauma. This is especially true as we examine the long-lasting impacts of climate change, the pandemic, and identity-based prejudice on children. In response, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has undertaken a transformative journey in its education programs. This paper explores our evolving approaches, centered in trauma-informed education, maker-centered agency, and equity-based practices. We outline some of our trauma-informed practices, including hiring a full-time school counselor and integrating wellness practices into programming. We share our journey to maker-centered education, with the goal of building agency and resilience in students as they tackle environmental challenges. We describe steps we’ve taken toward equity-based practices, such as revamping our hiring practices and building culturally relevant pedagogies. Doctoral researchers are our present and future knowledge-makers. Social justice requires democratic opportunities for knowledge creation, and to this end doctoral supervision theory and practice have become increasingly inclusive, flexible, culturally responsive, and person-centred over time. However, consideration of trauma and trauma-informed practice has remained absent from this work. This conceptual paper signals the need to recognise that doctoral cohorts will include those with lived experiences of trauma. The paper then presents a rationale for developing trauma-informed approaches to doctoral supervision, theorising this approach in relation to wider inclusive education efforts in higher education, Universal Design for Learning, and the social model of disability. Intersections with current trends in doctoral supervision literature and practice are considered, and core principles of trauma-informed practice are identified that can inform work in the specific context of doctoral supervision. A better understanding of how childhood adversity (CA) patterns influence the effectiveness of Trauma Informed Care (TIC) for youth in residential programs is needed. Utilizing a longitudinal design, the study examined how CA patterns influenced aggression and self-injurious behavior during treatment and emotional and conduct outcomes for 1,343 racially diverse adolescents in a TIC residential program. Latent class analysis identified five CA patterns. Subsequent mixed, two-factor ANCOVAs indicated youth from all CA patterns experienced parallel decreases in emotional problems from intake to discharge while changes in conduct problems during this same period differed by CA pattern. Likewise, Hierarchical Linear Modeling revealed that youths' self-injurious behavior and aggressive behaviors over the first 12 months of the program also differed by CA pattern. Some demographic differences based on sex and race were found, which are discussed in turn. Findings indicate that while the program is functioning as TIC, more tailored support is needed for youth with specific CA patterns and demographics. Trauma-informed practices are important for improving emotional well-being in residential care. Tailored interventions for youth with specific trauma histories may help reduce self-injurious behavior and behavior problems. Nine-year old Eliza is a student at Meadows Elementary School where she receives special education services for her diagnosis of Emotional Disturbance. Her teachers are working together to try to bring Eliza back into the classroom after weeks of time spent in the office with no contact with her peers. Mr. Jimenez and Ms. Landon are collaborating to incorporate trauma-informed practices into their classrooms in an attempt to address the absence of secure attachments and feelings of safety in Eliza's life, as well as her inability to control her emotional responses. Creating a trauma-informed classroom benefits everyone but especially students with disabilities who have experienced trauma. This study explored the experiences of child welfare professionals who participated in a graduate level Trauma-informed Care program in Ireland. Through three focus groups, thematic analysis revealed four overarching themes: 1. Program Acceptability; 2. Learning to Weave the Old with the New; 3. Integration into Practice and 4. Sustaining New Ground. Findings suggest participants experienced a process of change that led to knowledge integration which in turn led to concrete practice changes. Sustaining changes requires ongoing supports, a national strategy for trauma-informed practice integration in the Irish child welfare agency and across child serving systems of care. Background: In the United States (U.S.), racially minoritized people have higher rates of cervical cancer morbidity and mortality compared to white individuals as a result of racialized structural, social, economic, and health care inequities. However, cervical cancer screening guidelines are based on studies of predominately white individuals and do not substantially discuss or address racialized cervical cancer inequities and their social determinants, including racism. Methods: We conducted in-depth interviews with health care providers (N = 30) and key informants with expertise in health equity (N = 18). We utilized semi-structured interview guides that addressed providers' views and experiences delivering cervical cancer screening to racially minoritized individuals and key informants' recommendations for advancing racial equity in the development and implementation of cervical cancer screening guidelines. Interviews were analyzed using a template style thematic analysis approach involving deductive and inductive coding, memo writing, and matrix analysis for theme development. Results: Most health care providers adopted a universal, one-size-fits-all approach to cervical cancer screening with the stated goal of ensuring racial equality. Despite frequently acknowledging the existence of racialized cervical cancer inequities, few providers recognized the role of social inequities in influencing them, and none discussed the impact of racism. In contrast, key informants overwhelmingly recommended that providers adopt an approach to cervical cancer screening and follow-up care that recognizes the role of racism in shaping racialized cervical cancer and related social inequities, is developed in partnership with racially minoritized communities, and involves person-centered, structurally-competent, and trauma-informed practices that address racially minoritized peoples' unique lived experiences in historical and social context. This racism-conscious approach is not to be confused with race-based medicine, which is an essentialist and racist approach to health care that treats race as a biological variable rather than as a social and political construct. Conclusions: Developers and implementers of cervical cancer screening guidelines should explicitly recognize and address the impact of racism on cervical cancer screening, follow-up care, and outcomes, meaningfully incorporate racially minoritized communities' perspectives and experiences, and facilitate provider- and institutional-level practices that foster racial equity in cervical cancer. AbstractNurses are at the forefront of care in mental health services but their role is conflicted; they carry the most responsibility for care and also for restrictive practices. The harmful effects of restrictive practices for mental health patients are well documented, have attracted negative media attention, public concern, and criticism directed specifically at nursing staff. The need to reduce restrictive practices has been highlighted by patients, carer groups, legislators, policy makers, academics, and mental health service providers. Policies and best practice guidelines have resulted, but restrictive practices remain a global problem. This theory paper proposes that inertia is partly due to the absence of a coherent model that explains the initiation and maintenance of restrictive practice in inpatient mental health settings. As the world becomes more aware of the prevalence and consequences of trauma for young people, the education sector is increasingly responsible for supporting students emotionally and academically. School-based mental health supports for students who have experienced trauma are crucial, as schools are often the only access point for intervention for many children and families. Given that over two-thirds of children in the U.S. will experience a traumatic event by age 16, it is imperative to better understand the mechanisms of implementing mental health support in schools. Despite the increasing need for trauma-informed practices in schools (TIPS), schools often struggle to provide them due to a myriad of barriers. More research is needed to understand how to implement and sustain TIPS. Researchers have begun exploring these questions, but there is still a shortage of research about how to best implement TIPS. We argue that the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) is useful for organizing and advancing the implementation of TIPS. By consolidating findings from existing scholarship on TIPS, we identify themes and future directions within the CFIR framework. Plaintiff S99/2016 v. Minister for Immigration and Border Protection [2016] FCA 483 was a decision of the Australian Federal Court concerning a woman (referred to in the decision as "Plaintiff S99") who had been recognised as a refugee in the Republic of Nauru, having been transferred there by Australia under an offshore processing agreement. The decision in Plaintiff S99 established an important precedent that many refugees and asylum-seekers in Australia's offshore processing centres on Manus and Nauru, including children with severe health problems, subsequently relied upon to be transferred to Australia for critical medical care. Drawing on the recent turn towards trauma-informed practice across other areas of law and policy, we ask: what does this mean for refugees, and, more specifically, what does this mean for judgment writing in refugee law? We use our rewrite of Plaintiff S99 to highlight aspects of the decision and its legacy that continue to silence and erase the experiences of refugees, especially refugee women, and frequently contribute to compounding their trauma. Our contribution calls for a reorientation towards "do no harm" principles, which lie at the heart of trauma and violence-informed practice. In particular, our approach to rewriting S99 aims at foregrounding dignity and safety, promoting respect for physical and mental health, and centring the voice, experience, and longer-term protection needs of refugees. Leisure has the potential to contribute to processes of colonization and decolonization. In this paper, we propose using trauma-informed practice as part of a decolonizing process in leisure service provision. While trauma-informed practice continues to have it critiques and limitations from a decolonizing perspective, its recognition of the widespread impact of trauma, the role colonization plays in this trauma, and the value it places on safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, and practitioner humility and responsiveness may provide leisure professional guidance in decolonizing their practice. This paper presents a project involving Indigenous women, which incorporated aspects of TIP into the facilitation of an arts-based leisure workshop. Using poetic-representation—a method purposefully used to evoke and awaken emotions, the paper highlights experiences of challenge, discovery and release, and collective responsibility. Implications emphasize engaging in a conscious and deliberate process that incorporates arts-based leisure, aims to address colonization (e.g., trauma and oppressive systemic structures), and works towards social justice. Lawyers experience disproportionately high levels of poor mental health outcomes compared to other professions. This persistent problem can be explained, at least in part, by the fact that current initiatives are not adequately addressing the impact of trauma (from clients and lawyers). The legal profession is yet to embrace trauma-informed practice in the same way other human services have. In this qualitative study, 6 lawyers from Legal Aid describe what trauma-informed practice would ideally look like in their workplace. Many of the recommendations made by the participants such as training for staff, reduction in workloads, mental health leave, supervision, reflective practice, and debriefing are echoed in the literature. However, participants added valuable details about what service provision for clients, and the role of managers in bringing about change. We know more about trauma – and its long-term impact – than ever before. This has led to a demand for services to better recognise the needs of trauma survivors in order to avoid re-traumatisation – a recognition that care needs to be 'Tmuma-Infimied'. But, making the system-wide shift from 'what is wrong with you?' to 'what has happened to you?' is no small feat. As such, it is acknowledged that there needs to be effective ways to support staff to deliver competent trauma-informed care. The use of reflective practice is gaining increasing recognition as an exciting opportunity to align the principles of trauma-informed care with day-to-day clinical practice. This article presents the results of an evaluation of a Trauma-Informed Reflective Practice group pilot for staff working in an NHS CAMHS setting. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken to explore their experiences. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the interview data. Five themes emerged relating to trauma-informed care:-Learning from the voice of lived experience, Translating Knowledge into Practice, Sharing is Caring, Growing in Confidence and Looking to the Future. The results suggest that trauma-informed group reflective practice can pay dividends in terms of supporting trauma-informed care. Given that over two‐thirds of children in the United States are exposed to at least one traumatic event by age 16, it is imperative that schools support these students with trauma‐informed practices and resources. The current study investigated factors that affected teacher use of trauma‐informed resources within two school districts in California during the COVID‐19 pandemic. The specific research questions included assessing how intrinsic barriers, extrinsic barriers, administrator support, and school climate affect the use of trauma‐informed resources, as well as what barriers to and motivators of implementation teachers report. Eighty‐five teachers participated. A logistic regression model indicated that teacher‐administrator relationships (B = 0.77, p =.016) and intrinsic barriers (B = −0.84, p =.002), were predictive of resource use. Open‐ended responses revealed barriers to teacher resource use that included lack of time and district problems. Teachers reported being motivated to use resources based on their concern for the well‐being of students and themselves. Results indicate a myriad of extrinsic and intrinsic barriers making it difficult for teachers to use resources despite their motivation to support themselves and their students, and have implications for rethinking the way that teachers are expected to operate within the school system. Trauma-Informed Elementary Schools (TIES) is a pilot program designed to bring trauma-informed services to early elementary schools in a rural state. Although two sequential TIES pilot studies found significantly positive outcomes in cultivating a trauma-sensitive school climate and culture, the program has been limited to a few schools and has not yet been assessed for broader impact on primary stakeholders. The current study explored stakeholders' input in development of a comprehensive intervention plan by identifying the benefits and challenges of implementing the program and contributing their perspectives on strengthening the program. The study also explored the challenges of implementing the TIES program during the COVID-19 pandemic to optimize the program for its unique rural environment. Fourteen semistructured interviews were conducted via Zoom or in person. Two coauthors primarily used thematic analysis to categorize findings from transcribed interviews with NVivo. The participants identified positive impact of the program on children's socioemotional learning and support with special attention to children in need and the overall improvement of general educational tasks for all children as a whole classroom. In this article, the authors outline the interventions offered by the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathways Complex Needs Service (PCNS) in a Young Offenders Institute and Category C men’s prison for addressing trauma with young adult men within the prison environment and highlight the challenges of trauma-informed practice and interventions within this context. The importance of collaborative work with the young men will be emphasised within the development of clinical formulations and responsive treatment plans. Direct and non-direct trauma therapies offered by the PCNS will be outlined (e.g., Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, sensory approaches). The article will emphasise the importance of adopting a multidisciplinary and system-wide approach to healing trauma, and the crucial role of the PCNS prison officers. The various clinical spaces available for staff to process traumatogenic material will be highlighted as key to maintaining staff wellbeing and resilience. A reflection from a prison officer working in the service will be provided. This article aims to highlight the importance of adopting a holistic and system-wide approach to healing trauma for young men in custody.

The effects of trauma are becoming more prevalent in the clinical setting, which has helped generate conversations about being more trauma-informed and providing trauma-informed care services. The principles centered around trauma-informed care could be applied to a person's everyday life, including the work setting with the goal of creating a more trauma-informed environment for all employees. This qualitative descriptive phenomenological study aimed to investigate what trauma-informed care principles are needed in the workplace from the employee perspective to create a more trauma-informed environment. The survey instrument used in this study was a modified version of Fallot and Harris's (2011) consumer satisfaction survey in their published article Creating Cultures of Trauma-Informed Care: A Self-Assessment and Planning Protocol. The instrument contained 13 questions, with each core question having an optional secondary question requesting additional details about the participants' responses. The tool was categorized into four sections: safety, trustworthiness, choice and collaboration, and empowerment. Ninety participants accessed the survey through SurveyMonkey Audience, but four did not meet the criteria to participate and exited the study. The researcher was left with 86 completed surveys. The qualitative analytical tool Quirkos was employed to help analyze the data and generate themes. The category that produced the most themes was empowerment. Employees want to be viewed as a person rather than a resource to get the job done. Likewise, participants wanted to be valued and have their voices heard. There is a growing body of research documenting the impact of traumatic stress on child development, which has resulted in a call to action for trauma-informed practices as a priority, yet implementation within schools and training for educators is lacking (American Academy of Physicians, https://www.aap.org/en-us/Documents/ttb%5faces%5fconsequences.pdf, 2014). Understanding teachers' perceptions regarding current levels of knowledge, self-efficacy, and trauma-informed training can help guide future professional development experiences for both pre-service and practising teachers. This study investigated the knowledge, self-efficacy, and training of trauma-informed practices as self-reported by primary educators, serving in grades kindergarten through third-grade, within two regions of Tennessee and Virginia. The Primary Early Childhood Educators Trauma-Informed Care Survey for Knowledge, Confidence, and Relationship Building (PECE-TICKCR) scale was adapted from the TIC-DS scale (Goodwin-Glick in Impact of trauma-informed care professional development of school personnel perceptions of knowledge, disposition, and behaviours towards traumatised students, Graduate College of Bowling Green State University, 2017), validated, and created for the purpose of this study. The sample consisted of 218 primary educators who completed an online survey regarding personal knowledge, self-efficacy, and training experiences of trauma-informed practices. Correlations revealed a statistical significance between the Knowledge of Trauma factor and the Confidence in Providing Trauma-Informed Strategies factor. There was also a statistical significance between the Knowledge of Trauma factor and the Confidence in Creating Supportive relationships factor and between the Confidence in Providing Trauma-Informed Strategies factor and the Confidence in Creating Supportive Relationships factor. The findings indicated that teachers need more knowledge regarding community resources for families and students but feel confident in providing supportive relationships. Teachers also are interested in more training events related to strategies to use when working with students exposed to trauma. To address high rates of mental health and developmental concerns facing young children ages 0–6 in the United States and internationally, providers across professional sectors need Infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) training and support. The training and teleconsultation program (TTP) is a state‐funded program developed in one Mountain West state in the United States to provide free IECMH training and teleconsultation to any provider working with young children. The TTP included access to webinars and individual or group consultation with licensed mental health providers. Webinars focused on increasing awareness and knowledge related to attachment and child development, supporting parents and caregivers, trauma‐informed practice, supporting emotional health of staff and providers, and culturally responsive practices with infants, young children, and caregivers. Teleconsultation included case consultation, reflective individual and group supervision, and collaboration supports/referrals. During the 18‐month evaluation period, 1568 unique providers engaged in either training or teleconsultation services, an average of 9% growth in new providers each month, with representation from all professional sectors and all state counties. This program demonstrates the feasibility and need for statewide training and teleconsultation programs to help meet the needs of providers who interact with and support young children and caregivers. A majority of students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD), particularly those served in alternative educational settings, have a history of trauma exposure before placement. Evidence-based interventions such as Check-In/Check-Out (CICO) may be more effective for these students if the interventions are systematically adapted to include trauma-informed principles within intervention features. There is evidence that youth in the justice system are more likely to experience trauma and mental health problems than the general population. Trauma histories may exacerbate mental health problems, and mental health problems may increase the likelihood of continued offending. While prior research has examined the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on recidivism, it has yet to consider the prevalence of trauma among youth in a juvenile mental health court. Data from an urban juvenile mental health court (N = 203) was used to assess the prevalence of ACEs. The average ACE score of participants was 3.6% and 46% had a high ACE score. Furthermore, those who did not complete the program and/or were rearrested following participation had significantly higher ACE scores. Controlling for other factors, ACEs were not significantly associated with program noncompletion or rearrest. Policy implications surrounding trauma-informed practices are provided. Mental health research concerning adverse childhood experiences and neurocognitive trauma has prompted many school districts to pursue the development of trauma-informed schools that attend specifically to the emotional and instructional needs of affected students. Researchers and practitioners are fast proliferating trauma-informed professional practices. Given research findings indicating disproportionate impacts of trauma on students of color and those living in poverty, in this article, we examine the risks of trauma-informed educational programs reanimating cultural deficit theories from the 1960s about marginalized students and families. Educators are challenged to thoughtfully fortify trauma-informed schooling by increasing awareness of deficit perspectives and incorporating critical anti-racist, equity-focused practices. This article examines some of the possible harmful effects of regulatory investigations, in particular that of trauma, on persons being investigated and those around them, the legal, ethical or regulatory duties or responsibilities of regulators in the case of such events, and programs currently available to prevent or ameliorate these effects. It concludes by describing what trauma-informed regulatory practice might look like and concludes that a trauma-informed approach to regulation can provide a model of justice that can be applied to persons adversely affected by investigations without derogating from a regulator's statutory purposes. Connection with others and a sense of belonging is essential for student school engagement and success. Relationship building practices are therefore central within trauma-informed frameworks that aim to support students with a history of interpersonal trauma. The purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the research literature regarding relationship building strategies that have been implemented within educational systems as part of their trauma-informed practices. The relationship building strategies, outcomes, and phenomenological experiences of teachers and students were evaluated. Four electronic databases were systematically searched and studies within the education system, from preschool to high school, which included connectedness to school through relationship building as part of a trauma-informed practice protocol, were included in the searches. Thirteen studies were identified where educational settings implemented relationship building strategies within well-established, eclectic, or relationship-specific trauma-informed models. Results suggest great variability of implementation and strategies related to relationship building across school settings, even within studies implementing the same trauma-informed framework. Across studies, positive outcomes reported included improved relationships with teachers, better relationships with other students, greater use of relationship building practices, an increased willingness of teachers to develop better relationships with their trauma-affected students, and improved relationships with families. The study concludes that relationship building strategies within the school system need to be considered and implemented within a systems framework where teacher-child and teacher-family relationships are supported and encouraged. Educational alternatives for disenfranchized young people in school settings have resulted in an increasing number of flexible learning and vocational education programs. The youth in these programs often face multiple adversities that limit their engagement in education. Efforts to support these students require a trauma-informed care approach. Educators from a flexible learning and VET program in Australia were interviewed after completing training in the trauma-informed behavior support online program. The thematic analysis highlighted the relevance of trauma-informed practice and the applicability of trauma-informed pedagogical practices. Social work has made significant strides in providing mental health services. However, advancement in mental health practices grounded in social work values, such as trauma-informed care and cultural humility mental health practice (CHMHP), is still lacking. One possible reason is that many strategies overlook clients' historical contexts, particularly the collective history held by the community to which the client belongs. By centering "history" in social work practices, clinical social workers can be more equipped to provide high-quality, client-centered services. This article advocates for adopting trauma-informed CHMHP as a critical strategy to elevate history in clinical social work practice and proposes that trauma-informed CHMHP can improve mental health service quality among clients of color who are profoundly disrupted by historical trauma. Specifically, this article proposes that using trauma-informed CHMHP to address historical trauma can enhance mental health treatment outcomes and experiences for African American women. Background: The changes DSM-5 brought to the diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulted in revising the most widely used instrument in assessing PTSD, namely the Posttraumatic Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5). Objective: This study examined the psychometric properties of the Romanian version of the PCL-5, tested its diagnostic utility against the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID5), and investigated the latent structure of PTSD symptoms through correlated symptom models and bifactor modelling. Method: A total sample of 727 participants was used to test the psychometric properties and underlying structure of the PCL-5 and 101 individuals underwent clinical interviews using SCID5. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analyses were performed to test the diagnostic utility of the PCL-5 and identify optimal cut-off scores based on Youden’s J index. Confirmatory Factor Analyses (CFAs) and bifactor modelling were performed to investigate the latent structure of PTSD symptoms. Results: Estimates revealed that the PCL-5 is a valuable tool with acceptable diagnostic accuracy compared to SCID-5 diagnoses, indicating a cut-off score of >47. The CFAs provide empirical support for Anhedonia, Hybrid, and bifactor models. The findings are limited by using retrospective, self-report data and the high percentage of female participants. Conclusions: The PCL-5 is a psychometrically sound instrument that can be useful in making provisional diagnoses within community samples and improving trauma-informed practices. Purpose -- This integrative literature review aims to explore themes within higher education that may be applicable to leadership education including: descriptions of trauma, trauma-informed practices and traumainformed practitioners. Childhood psychological trauma is currently gleaning attention in many fields of study. Subsequently, Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP) is becoming integral to many organizations that service children and families. A gap, however, is noted in literature between this approach to practice and pre-service early years professionals who study to work in care and education settings as either early childhood educators or teachers. Furthermore TIP, using Self-Study (SS) methodology, is deficient in literature. Thus, a Self-Study was enacted by four pre-service early years professionals, in their fourth and final year of their degree, to investigate their preparedness to employ TIP in their work post-graduation. A Critical Friend, versed in this topic, engaged in this study as this is habitual to SS methodology. Findings of this research convey that TIP is covertly addressed in course content, indicating that this area of pedagogy requires more explicit attention in pre-service curriculum. Outcomes of this study also illuminate the urgency for early years professionals to address their own adverse experiences so that they are situated to cultivate attuned and responsive trauma-informed climates in their pedagogical practice. Trauma is pervasive, embodied, and can be perpetrated or perpetuated by researchers, educators, and practitioners, including those within adaptive physical activity (APA). In this article, we highlight the need to address trauma within APA as a matter of access and justice. We share various conceptualizations of trauma from psychiatric, embodied, anti-pathologizing, and sociopolitical perspectives. Trauma-informed practice is introduced as a framework for creating safer, more inclusive programs and services, so we can recognize the impacts of trauma and affirm those who experience it. As the first step to a multistep trauma-informed process, our aim is to raise awareness of trauma and introduce resources for enacting trauma-informed practice. We also pose difficult questions about how we, as "helping" practitioners, researchers, and educators may be perpetuating or perpetrating harm and trauma, in particular sanism, within our profession. Studies suggest that among children, adverse childhood experiences increase the risk of developing behavioral challenges in and out of the school environment. Rooted in distributed leadership, trauma‐leadership teams (TLTs) are a novel systems‐based intervention in which a team of educators deepens knowledge and works to implement trauma‐responsive policies and practices within the school community. The current study used a consensual qualitative research design to (a) understand the ways TLTs are created, (b) describe educators' perceived benefits and outcomes of these teams, and (c) describe how TLTs are applied in schools to improve trauma‐informed care practices. Additionally, the study highlights growth areas for TLT implementation. Domains from interviews include (1) Formation of TLTs; (2) Benefits and Outcomes of TLTs; (3) Trauma‐Responsive Competency; and (4) Growth Areas of TLT. Results suggest that TLT members view TLTs positively, offer insight into how TLTs are formed, and see benefits from TLTs within their school communities. Results also suggest areas for growth for TLTs. Practitioner points: School‐based trauma‐leadership teams (TLTs) are perceived to be a useful mechanism for planning and implementing strategies and policies that are trauma‐informed.Educators engaged in TLTs that employ distributed leadership or cooperative models report feeling greater levels of trust and stronger relationships within the team and with peers across the school. Both are core components of a trauma‐informed organization.TLTs may be more effective in addressing mental health problems and promoting a positive school culture with even more structure and a greater frequency of meetings. Background. Trauma from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and serious traumatic events in adulthood is a significantly prevalent concern for public-health-hearing healthcare professionals. The pediatric and geriatric populations that audiologists often work with have been shown to be at an increased risk of experiencing traumatic events. Childhood and adult trauma can significantly impact the hearing and vestibular testing and treatment of these patients. Methods. This narrative review article discusses trauma-informed care (TIC) strategies that audiologists can use to recognize and respond to trauma in patients and prevent retraumatizing patients during their encounters in audiology clinics. Conclusions. This article will provide an overview of TIC and direct the reader to resources for their continued learning. The US juvenile legal system changed substantially during the twenty-first century. Notable shifts occurred with progressive reform trends aimed to promote developmentally aligned, trauma-informed, and equitable youth justice systems. Now, in an increasingly complex and polarized landscape, the future of progressive change for youth justice faces a crossroads, with some calling for transformation and others advocating a path of continued gradual reform. In this critical literature review, we analyze the role of leading paradigms (i.e., developmental neuroscience, trauma-informed practice, children's rights, racial equity, the medical model, and abolition) driving patterns of progressive reform in the US juvenile legal system during the twenty-first century. From this review, we reflect on strengths and limitations of predominant paradigms that have guided progressive change in youth justice and offer key lessons to inform the path forward.
