When Alice is hidding a message into a cover image in order to communicate with Bob, she is not going to pick it among historic databases from the literature used to train detectors in steganalysis. This could be very problematic for the opponent Eve since Alice's image is likely coming from a very different source than her training one. The source of an image can be defined with a multitude of parameters such as the nature of the sensor, the post-processing operations and the parameters of the compression. Hence it is almost impossible for Eve to train her detectors with the base of Alice. In this paper we are building and analyzing a collection of bases whose parameters are fostering generalisation. Our main contribution is the discovery of good practices helping to build such representative bases for digital image steganalysis. They are related to the intrinsic dimension of the features representing the database but also to the type of classifier used.; Lorsque Alice dissimule un message dans une image de couverture pour communiquer avec Bob, elle ne va pas la piocher dans les bases de la littérature dédiées à l'entraînement de détecteurs en stéganalyse. Cela peut alors poser un problème pour Eve, l'adversaire d'Alice, car la source dont provient l'image d'Alice peut être très distincte de celle sur laquelle Eve s'est entraînée. La source d'une image dépend d'une multitude de paramètres comme la nature du capteur, les retouches logicielles ainsi que les paramètres de compression. Il est alors quasi impossible pour Eve de s'entraîner sur la même base qu'Alice. Dans ce papier, nous construisons puis analysons un ensemble de bases dont les paramètres favorisent la généralisation de l'apprentissage. Notre principale contribution est la découverte de bonnes pratiques permettant de concevoir des bases représentatives pour la stéganalyse d'images numériques. Elles sont liées à la dimension intrinsèque des caractéristiques représentant la base, mais aussi au type de classifieur utilisé.

National audience; We witnessed, in the last few years, the massive expansion of theInternet of Things (IoT) to multiple everyday devices, in homes, buildings and factories.The inclusion of heterogeneous wireless transceivers in potentially criticalappliances and environments is then raising growing security and safety concerns.However, according to the litterature, there is still room for improvement, especiallyin off-the-shelf devices, often not implementing the different security measures ofthe protocols they use. As such, numerous works focus on the improvement of theglobal security and safety of the IoT, and more generally in the wireless communicationsoften used by these devices. The subject of the Physical Layer security is oftendisregarded, because of its complexity or the fact that it is less critical in more traditionalwired networks. However, the wireless communication medium can have asubstantial impact on the attack surface because of its higher availability, since anyonein radio range can listen to communications. It also brings new vulnerabilities,that are specific to this kind of transmissions. Furthermore, the low complexity andcomputational power of the devices in use often results in simple protocols, makingdevice cloning and injections more easy, and harder to detect from higher layers.Thus, in this thesis, we decided to focus on the impact of the wireless PhysicalLayer on network security, and highlight the importance of transversal approachesbetween signal processing and cybersecurity. We first show the new dimension introducedby the common wireless medium in offensive security, by showing a newattack based on similarities in Physical Layers of two protocols to break the isolationbetween them. This attack, Wazabee, allows Bluetooth Low Energy transceiversto communicate seemlessly with Zigbee networks. We also show that the principlebehind it could be extended to other pairs of protocols, should the conditions bemet. This highlights the importance of a more protocol-agnostic monitoring of thewireless medium, able to detect communications outside the legitimate protocolsof the environment, and to not consider co-existing wireless protocols as isolated.Then, we propose two defensive contributions, to help secure wireless networks byanalysing the communications from a Physical Layer perspective. First, we presenta low-cost fingerprinting approach for wireless devices, to detect potential identitytheft attacks, i.e. attacks where an illegitimate device tries to take the place of alegitimate one in the network. Then, we present an approach for automated wirelessprotocol audit, allowing to detect and analyze various protocols emitting in awide range of frequencies, with minimal assumptions on their nature. These twoapproaches complete higher-layer security measures, to detect potential intrudersor covert channels in the environment, and to ease protocol analysis for securityexperts.; Nous assistons, depuis plusieurs années, à l’extension de l’Internetdes Objets à de nouveaux objets du quotidien, que ce soit dans les domiciles ousur le lieu de travail. L’ajout d’émetteurs hétérogènes dans de nombreux objetset certains environnements sensibles pose de nombreux problèmes en termes desûreté et de sécurité. Les travaux récents montrent qu’il y a encore du chemin àparcourir, notamment pour les objets grand-public, qui n’implémentent souventpas les mesures de sécurité définies dans les standards. Partant de ceconstat, de nombreux travaux s’intéressent aujourd’hui à la sécurité et à lasûreté dans l’IoT, et plus généralement dans les réseaux sans-fil, souvent utiliséspar ces objets. Le sujet de la sécurisation de la couche physique estsouvent mis de côté, que ce soit pour sa complexité ou par comparaison avecles réseaux filaires traditionnels, où elle a moins d’impact. Toutefois, la plusgrande accessibilité des réseaux sans-fil par tout ce qui se trouve à portéeradio en augmente considérablement la surface d’attaque. S’y ajoutent égalementdes vulnérabilités propres à ce type de transmissions, et la simplicitéde certains protocoles, due à la faible puissance de calcul des objets, rendantdes attaques telles que le clonage d’objet légitime plus aisées, et difficiles àdétecter depuis les couches supérieures. Dans cette thèse, nous nous sommesdonc concentrés sur l’impact de l’aspect sans-fil de la couche physique sur lasécurité de ces réseaux, mettant en évidence l’intérêt d’approches transversalesentre traitement du signal et sécurité. Nous montrons d’abord l’impactoffensif du moyen de communication commun, en exposant une nouvelle attaquebasée sur la similarité des couches physiques de deux protocoles. Cetteattaque, Wazabee, permet à des objets BLE de communiquer avec des objetsZigbee. Nous montrons également que le principe de l’attaque pourrait êtreétendu à d’autres paires de protocoles. Nous soulignons ainsi l’importancede moyens de détection plus indépendants des protocoles déployés capablesde détecter des communications hors des canaux légitimes, et de ne pas considérerdes réseaux sans-fil différents mais colocalisés comme isolés les unsdes autres. Enfin, nous présentons deux contributions défensives basées surl’analyse de ces réseaux depuis leur couche physique. Premièrement, nousprésentons une approche à bas coût d’identification d’émetteurs sans-fil, visantdes attaques usurpant l’identité d’émetteurs légitimes. Ensuite, nous présentonsune approche d’automatisation de l’audit de protocoles sans-fil, permettantde détecter et d’analyser le contenu d’émissions sans-fil, avec un minimumd’hypothèses sur leur nature. Ces deux approches complètent des mesures auxcouches supérieures, en permettant de détecter de potentielles intrusions oucanaux cachés, et pour faciliter l’analyse des protocoles utilisés par les experts.

International audience; More connectivity, higher data rates, more reliability, massive network capacity, higher performance and fewer delays are required in the fifth generation (5G) of cellular networks. The last ten years have contained explosive growth in mobile data traffic due to the rapid proliferation of Internet-connected smart devices. For 5G mobile and wireless networks, one of the challenges is to discover how to solve the dilemma between capacity requirements and spectrum shortage. Millimeter-wave communication is therefore a key enabler for 5G technologies. Due to the high path and penetration losses at millimeter wavelengths, antenna beamforming assumes a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a robust communication link. Recently, codebook-based beamforming has been proposed to achieve a fair balance between complexity and performance and to eliminate the overheads. In this paper, we track the techniques of codebook-based beamforming for millimeter-wave communications in the context of the distinct requirements for low-mobility channel and high-mobility channel scenarios. Subsequently, we will provide a comparison of existing codebook-based beamforming techniques in terms of their respective benefits and shortcomings. Finally, some open directions of research are discussed, and challenges that need to be met are pointed out.

Continuous seismograms record time series of ground motion and are considered as a goldmine of information on active geological objects such as volcanoes or faults. However, the complexity and size of seismic data challenge the efficient and successful mining of the interesting information, hidden within a large amount of data. Automatic algorithms scanning continuous data streams can help overcome these challenges and might reveal new types of seismic signals, offering new insights about active geological objects. In this work, we develop a novel strategy based on machine learning, which infers meaningful and continuous patterns from seismograms and identifies groups of seismic signals in a data-driven fashion.The proposed strategy, which involves hierarchical waveform clustering, breaks up into three major steps: (1) a scattering network retrieves a rich and stable data representation of the continuous seismogram,(2) we lower the dimensionality of the data representation by extracting the most relevant features describing continuous temporal patterns, and (3) we perform hierarchical agglomerative clustering in the feature space, revealing hierarchical groups of similar signals in a tree-like structure. With this strategy we blindly identify a seismic burst of more than 200 similar low-magnitude earthquakes in the continuous seismogram recorded in a noisy urban environment. Besides identifying patterns and signal clusters related to various seismic sources, we are also able to infer medium changes due to freezing and thawing processes directly from the continuous seismogram of a single station. The continuous data-driven patterns describe also the stationarity of the seismic wavefield. An application to seismic data recorded in the vicinity of the Klyuchevskoy volcano, Russia, highlights the strong non-stationary character of seismic tremors, witnessing a constant change of the volcanic system. In general, hierarchical waveform clustering can deliver a quick and data-driven overview over the seismic signals and patterns present in the seismograms. Identifying blindly patterns related to medium changes seems possible and more studies and applications are needed for a generalization. We conclude that hierarchical waveform clustering might be a helpful tool in searching for tectonic background signals in vast amount of seismic time series.; Les sismogrammes sont des séries temporelles du mouvement du sol considérées comme une mine d'informations sur les objets géologiques actifs tels que les volcans ou les failles. Cependant, la complexité et le volume de ces données rendent difficile une extraction efficace d'informations intéressantes. Des algorithmes automatiques appliqués aux données continues peuvent aider à surmonter ces difficultés et pourraient révéler de nouveaux types de signaux sismiques, offrant de nouvelles perspectives de recherche sur les objets géologiques actifs. Dans ce travail, nous développons une nouvelle stratégie basée sur l'apprentissage machine pour inférer des structures de signal significatives et continues à partir de sismogrammes, en particulier, des groupes de signaux sismiques. La stratégie proposée utilise le regroupement hiérarchique de formes d'onde, et comporte trois étapes principales : (1) un réseau diffusif permet une représentation riche et stable des données sismiques continues, (2) nous réduisons la dimensionnalité de la représentation des données en extrayant les éléments les plus pertinents décrivant les modèles temporels continus, et (3) nous effectuons un regroupement agglomératif hiérarchique à partir des données réduites, révélant des groupes hiérarchiques de signaux similaires dans une structure arborescente. Grâce à cette stratégie, nous montrons qu'il est possible de mettre en évidence des essaims sismiques de plus de 200 séismes similaires de faible magnitude dans des sismogrammes continus enregistrés dans un environnement urbain bruyant. Outre l'identification de groupes de signaux liés à diverses sources sismiques, nous déduisons également un changement de milieu dû à des processus de gel et de dégel directement à partir de données continues receuillies par une seule station. Ces caractéristiques continues basées sur les données fournissent également une excellente description du caractère stationnaire du champ d'ondes sismiques. Finalement, une application aux sismogrammes enregistrées à proximité du volcan Klyuchevskoy met en évidence le caractère fortement non stationnaire des trémors volcaniques, et témoigne d'une évolution constante du système volcanique. En général, le regroupement hiérarchique des formes d'onde peut fournir un aperçu rapide et orienté données des signaux sismiques et des structures présentes dans les sismogrammes. L'identification automatique de structures liées à des changements de propriétés du milieu semble possible et d'autres études et applications sont nécessaires pour une généralisation à d'autres cas d'étude. Le regroupement hiérarchique des formes d'onde s'avère être un outil utile pour la recherche de signaux tectoniques faibles dans les grandes séries temporelles sismiques enregistrées dans les observatoires sismologiques et volcaniques.

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) may significantly improve tetraplegic patients' quality of life by creating an alternative communication path between humans and the environment, potentially compensating for motor function loss. This thesis focuses on ECoG-based BCI systems that showed a high potential to provide efficient communication while being less invasive than intracortical recordings. In particular, we explored problem of continuous 3D hand translation decoding in a tetraplegic patient. In this case, most studies use linear models that may be too simple to analyze brain processes and may suffer from low decoding accuracy. Models based on deep learning (DL) have been proven effective in various tasks and thus emerge as a potential solution to create a robust brain signals representation. In this thesis, we studied the potential of DL-based methods for hand translation decoding from ECoG signals.First, we evaluated several DL models to predict 3D hand translation from ECoG time-frequency features. The analysis was performed on a dataset recorded with a tetraplegic subject in the BCI and Tetraplegia clinical trial (NCT02550522). We started the investigation with a multilayer perceptron taking vectorized features as input. Then, we proposed convolutional neural networks (CNN), which take matrix-organized inputs approximating the spatial arrangement of the electrodes. In addition, we investigated the usefulness of long short-term memory (LSTM) to analyze temporal information. Results showed that CNN-based architectures performed better than the current state-of-the-art multilinear model on the analyzed ECoG dataset. The best architecture used a CNN-based model to analyze the spatial representation of time-frequency features followed by LSTM exploiting the sequential character of the desired hand trajectory. Compared to the multilinear model, DL-based solutions increased average cosine similarity by up to 60%.In the case of BCI, access to large datasets is limited because recordings are time-consuming and tiring. To investigate the influence of the dataset size on the decoding performance, we compared the learning curve characteristics of DL and multilinear models evaluated in the previous step. The training dataset size was gradually increased from 5 to 140 minutes of signal in different computational experiments, focusing on dataset size requirements and patient adaptation effects. Our results revealed that DL models have a learning curve profile similar to the multilinear model, increasing performance for almost all training dataset sizes. This result validates the DL-based models as a good candidate for real-life applications. We also observed increased data quality for recordings performed later, indicating improved patient ability to generate meaningful patterns.DL proved its usefulness for computer vision, primarily in the case of end-to-end learning. It enabled extracting more powerful representations trained for a specific task and removed the step of hand-crafted feature extraction. We evaluated methods using raw ECoG signals as a natural extension of hand-crafted feature analysis. In the data processing pipeline evaluated so far, continuous wavelet transform was used to extract time-frequency representation, which can be seen as a convolution between a set of wavelet filters and the ECoG signal. In this setup, the gradient w.r.t. filters coefficients can be computed, and thus the whole network can be trained within an end-to-end scheme. The parameters of wavelet filters were optimized end-to-end to see potential profit from adjusting the parameters to this specific problem. The results showed only minor or no benefit from training the wavelets in terms of cosine similarity, while end-to-end models require more computational power. This may suggest that training first layer parameters may be less beneficial and more challenging in the case of ECoG-based BCI.; Les interfaces cerveau-machines (ICMs) peuvent améliorer considérablement la qualité de vie des patients tétraplégiques en créant une voie de communication alternative et en compensant la perte de la fonction motrice. Cette thèse se concentre sur les systèmes ICM basés sur l'ECoG qui ont montré un fort potentiel pour fournir une communication efficace, tout en étant moins invasif que les enregistrements intracorticaux. Cependant, la plupart des systèmes actuels souffrent d'une faible précision de décodage. Les modèles basés sur l'apprentissage profond (DL) se sont avérés efficaces dans de nombreuses tâches et apparaissent donc comme une solution possible pour créer une représentation robuste des signaux cérébraux. Dans cette thèse, nous avons étudié le potentiel des méthodes basées sur l'apprentissage profond pour le décodage de la translation de la main à partir de signaux ECoG.Tout d'abord, nous avons évalué plusieurs modèles de DL sur des données de l'essai clinique BCI et Tétraplégie (NCT02550522) enregistrées avec un sujet tétraplégique, pour prédire la translation de la main en 3D à partir des caractéristiques temps-fréquence des signaux ECoG. Nous avons commencé l'étude avec un perceptron multicouche prenant en entrée des caractéristiques vectorisées. Ensuite, nous avons proposé des réseaux neuronaux convolutifs (CNN), qui prennent des entrées organisées en matrices se rapprochant de la disposition spatiale des électrodes, et des cellulles long short-term memory (LSTM) pour analyser les informations temporelles. Les résultats ont montré que les architectures basées sur les réseaux neuronaux convolutifs sont plus performantes que le modèle multilinéaire actuel sur l'ensemble des données ECoG analysées, avec une augmentation de la similarité cosinus moyenne allant jusqu'à 60 %. La meilleure architecture utilisait un modèle CNN pour analyser la représentation spatiale des caractéristiques temps-fréquence, suivi d'un LSTM exploitant le caractère séquentiel des données.Dans le cas des ICM, l'accès à de grands jeux de données est limité car les enregistrements sont longs et fatigants pour le patient. Pour étudier l'impact de la taille du jeu de données sur les performances de décodage, la quantité de données d'entraînement a été progressivement augmentée de 5 à 140 minutes de signal dans différentes expériences de calcul, en se concentrant sur les exigences de taille du jeu de données et les effets d'adaptation du patient. Nos résultats ont révélé que les modèles de DL augmentent les performances pour presque toutes les tailles de jeu de données d'entraînement. Ce résultat valide les modèles de DL comme bons candidats pour les applications de la vie réelle. Nous avons également observé une meilleure qualité des données pour les enregistrements effectués plus tardivement, ce qui indique un progrès du patient pour générer des signaux informatifs.Le DL a prouvé son utilité pour la vision par ordinateur, principalement dans le cas de l'apprentissage de bout en bout, permettant l'extraction de représentations plus adaptées à une tâche spécifique. Nous avons évalué des méthodes utilisant des signaux ECoG bruts en tant qu'extension naturelle de l'analyse des caractéristiques créées à la main. Les paramètres de la transformée en ondelettes continue utilisée pour extraire la représentation temps-fréquence ont été optimisés de bout en bout pour voir le bénéfice potentiel de l'ajustement des paramètres à ce problème spécifique. Les résultats ont montré qu'il n'y avait que peu ou pas de bénéfice à entraîner les ondelettes en termes de similarité en cosinus, alors que les modèles de bout en bout nécessitent plus de puissance de calcul. Cela peut suggérer que l'entraînement des paramètres de la première couche peut être moins bénéfique et plus difficile dans le cas d'une BCI basée sur l'ECoG.

ION GNSS + 2022, Denver, ETATS-UNIS, 21-/09/2022 - 23/09/2022; In safety-critical applications, the vulnerability of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to radio frequency interferences (RFIs) is a major concern. The development of a fail-safe and robust localization system now necessarily requires detection and mitigation of such interferences, which has increased with the proliferation of wireless systems and easy access to personal privacy devices (PPD) also known as jammers. Moreover, the advent of software-defined radio (SDR) permitting the transmission of customized and more complex signals has further complicated this problem. This paper provides an in-depth comparison of interference mitigation techniques at multiple levels primarily focusing on the safety perspective at the position level. For this purpose, the classical adaptive notch filter (ANF) and the wavelet packet decomposition method are applied to mitigate the effects of interference. This comparative study aims to assess the performance of these mitigation techniques at multiple levels (frequency estimation, acquisition, tracking and position). However, the main goal for the final user is to study the impact on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as accuracy, availability, and safety. Furthermore, two cases are considered: 1): interference in the absence of any mitigation strategy and after applying interference mitigation technique at the pre-correlation level. The complete study is presented for two different types of time-varying continuous wave (CW) interferenc.e signals namely frequency hopping and the chirp signal.

International audience; MICROSCOPE is a space mission launched in 2016 that aims to test the validity of the Equivalence Principle (EP), the main postulate of General Relativity (GR), with a precision never reached before (Touboul et al. (2001)). EP states that two bodies of different compositions and masses fall with the same acceleration in the same gravitational field. In order to achieve this goal, MICROSCOPE's instrument is composed of two identical electrostatic differential accelerometers. MICROSCOPE will be the first lab to realize an experiment to test the EP in space which allows to break free from perturbations other than gravity. Those tests used to be presented in terms of the Eötvös ratio η. The first result published in December 2017 shows no evidence of violation higher than 1.3 × 10^−14 at 1 σ on η (Touboul et al. (2017)). This result was obtained with only 7% of the whole data, so the statistical uncertainty would be improved with the analysis of the complete data. During the experiment some thermal variations could disturb the estimation of the Eötvös parameter. In order to better estimate the thermal systematic effect, the thermal sensitivity has to be determined. To do so, thermal stimulus are induced on the instrument by means of dedicated heaters and the response in the measured acceleration is analysed. Two methods were applied for theses analysis and will be presented in this paper. The first one operates in the time domain and the second one in the frequency domain. Those methods allow us to obtain a thermal systematic of 8.6 × 10^−16 which represents an improvement by one order of magnitude with respect to the result of Touboul et al. (2017).; MICROSCOPE est une mission spatiale lancée en 2016 qui vise à tester la validité du principe d'équivalence (EP), le principal postulat de la relativité générale (GR), avec une précision jamais atteinte jusqu'à présent (Touboul et al. (2001)). Le PE stipule que deux corps de compositions et de masses différentes tombent avec la même accélération dans le même champ gravitationnel. Afin d'atteindre ce but, l'instrument de MICROSCOPE est composé de deux accéléromètres différentiels électrostatiques identiques. MICROSCOPE sera le premier laboratoire à réaliser une expérience pour tester le PE dans l'espace qui permet de s'affranchir des perturbations autres que la gravité. Ces tests étaient auparavant présentés en termes de rapport d'Eötvös η. Le premier résultat publié en décembre 2017 ne montre aucune preuve de violation supérieure à 1,3 × 10^-14 à 1 σ sur η (Touboul et al. (2017)). Ce résultat a été obtenu avec seulement 7% de l'ensemble des données, l'incertitude statistique serait donc améliorée avec l'analyse de l'ensemble des données. Pendant l'expérience, certaines variations thermiques pourraient perturber l'estimation du paramètre d'Eötvös. Afin de mieux estimer l'effet systématique thermique, la sensibilité thermique doit être déterminée. Pour ce faire, des stimuli thermiques sont induits sur l'instrument au moyen d'appareils de chauffage dédiés et la réponse dans l'accélération mesurée est analysée. Deux méthodes ont été appliquées pour ces analyses et seront présentées dans cet article. La première opère dans le domaine temporel et la seconde dans le domaine fréquentiel. Ces méthodes nous permettent d'obtenir une systématique thermique de 8.6 × 10^-16 ce qui représente une amélioration d'un ordre de grandeur par rapport au résultat de Touboul et al. (2017).

GRETSI 2022, XXVIIIème Colloque Francophone de Traitement du Signal et des Images, Nancy, FRANCE, 06-/09/2022 - 09/09/2022; La détection d'anomalies dans les flux vidéo est un sujet très actif dans la communauté de vision par ordinateur et notamment dans la tâche d'automatisation du traitement de données de vidéo-surveillance. Ce papier propose d'adapter une architecture neuronale fondée sur l'utilisation d'un réseau totalement convolutif utilisant une approche antagoniste générative (réseau GAN) capable d'apprendre la corrélation entre l'apparence des objets présents dans une scène et leurs mouvements apparents et de reconstruire le contenu des images d'une situation qualifiée de normale. L'objectif final est de déterminer la fonction de décision capable d'identifier des situations anormales à partir d'une reconstruction imparfaite d'une situation inconnue. Nous étudions cette problématique dans le contexte de l'automatisation d'un véhicule ferroviaire (projet Train Autonome) pour lequel la fermeture des portes doit se faire en sécurité sans l'intervention d'aucun agent. Cet article propose un ensemble de modifications de l'apprentissage de l'architecture afin de l'adapter aux différents scénarios d'anomalies de notre cas d'application, sensiblement différents de ceux rencontrés dans les datasets classiques de la littérature, et définit les bonnes pratiques pour ce type d'applications. L'architecture est évaluée sur notre dataset nommé « FRailTRI20_DOD » qui met en scène plusieurs exemples d'événements anormaux joués sur la réplique d'une porte de train en laboratoire.

A new avenue for handwriting analysis to help diagnose dysgraphia in children, using dynamic oscillatory models, has been investigated. The Parsimonious Oscillatory Model of Handwriting (POMH) is shown to be able to reconstruct the handwriting trace provided that it is sufficiently smooth. For children suffering from dysgraphia, POMH leads to greater deviation when trying to reconstruct the signal. This difference in POMH performance is thought to serve as a discriminant for automatically detecting children with dysgraphia. A critical parameter for POMH is the number of zero velocity points when writing a symbol. The relationships between age, number of zero velocity points and performance of POMH are investigated as preliminary work to establish a classification algorithm for dysgraphia diagnosis assistance., Une nouvelle voie pour l’analyse de l’écriture manuscrite afin d’aider à diagnostiquer la dysgraphie chez les enfants, en utilisant des modèles oscillatoires dynamiques, a été étudiée. Le Parsimonious Oscillatory Model of Handwriting (POMH) s’est avéré capable de reconstruire la trace de l’écriture manuscrite à condition qu’elle soit suffisamment lisse. Pour les enfants souffrant de dysgraphie, POMH conduit à une plus grande déviation lors de la tentative de reconstruction du signal. Cette différence de performance de POMH est censée servir de discriminant pour la détection automatique des enfants dysgraphiques. Un paramètre critique pour POMH est le nombre de points de vélocité nulle dans l’écriture d’un symbole. Les relations entre l’âge, le nombre de points de vélocité nulle et la performance de POMH sont étudiées comme travail préliminaire pour établir un algorithme de classification pour l’aide au diagnostic de la dysgraphie.

Cette présentation s'attache à associer aux facteurs de mérite la contribution relative des différentes contraintes qu'il s'agisse de la gestion et de l'intégrité des signaux et de la puissance, du contrôle des émanations électromagnétiques et de l'intégration des antennes ou des matériaux électro-activables sans lesquels les facteurs de mérite restent très en deçà de ce qui peut être légitimement attendu des performances au niveau système

Neurodegenerative diseases are a major social issue and public health priorityworldwide. Huntington Disease (HD) is a rare disease of genetic origin that causescognitive, behavioural and motor disorders due to brain lesions, in particular in thestriatum. People with the genetic mutation of HD have a pre-symptomatic phaseof several decades during which they have no neurological disorder before thesymptomatic phase occurs. The symptoms of this disease have many implicationsin the life activities of the patient, with a gradual loss of autonomy, until the deathof the patient. This makes HD a potential model of neurodegenerative diseasesthat could lead to the development of new clinical monitoring tools. The currentmedical monitoring in HD is expensive and requires the patient to travel regularly tothe hospital, generating a significant human and financial burden. The purpose ofthis thesis is to develop and validate new computational methods for automaticallymonitoring Huntington’s Disease individuals, thanks to the analysis of their spokenlanguage productions. Spoken language production invokes various cognitive, socialand motor skills, and its realisation is influenced by the mental state of the individual.Our hypothesis is that through the inspection of the produced speech and its contentwe can assess these different skills and states. To this date, the analysis of spokenlanguage disorders in HD is only performed in a few clinical departments andspecialised research teams, at a small scale without classic clinical validation. Inaddition, the potential of spoken language markers to predict the different symptomsin HD have not been explored.Therefore in this thesis, we designed a comprehensive spoken language battery,along with a complete annotation protocol that is parsable by a computer program.This battery measures different parameters to obtain a wide clinical picture ofspoken language in HD, that varies the linguistic target, the cognitive load, theemotional content, the topics and the materials of the discourse. To speed up theannotations protocol, we designed and developed open-source software to managelinguistic annotation campaigns. This allowed us to collect what is, to the best ofour knowledge, the largest database of fine-grained annotated spoken languageproductions in HD, with 125 annotated interviews of 3 groups of individuals: healthycontrols, premanifest individuals carrying the gene that causes HD and manifestHD at different stages. Besides, we also formalized and implemented the tracks oficommunication introduced by H. Clark, which allow analyzing the use of spokenlanguage in spontaneous exchanges for HD individuals. Then, to speed up and automate the annotation process, we developed and validated machine learning methodsto recognise turn-takings and identify these tracks of communication directly fromspeech. Finally, thanks to this new database, we assessed the capabilities of spokenlanguage markers to predict the different symptoms in HD. We especially found outthat rhythm and articulatory markers extracted from tasks with a cognitive load canpredict accurately the global, motor, functional and cognitive components of thedisease. We additionally found significant correlations between silence statistics andthe volume of the striatum, the neuro-anatomical hallmark of the disease progress.In spontaneous productions, we found that the ratio of tracks of communicationwas different between HD individuals and other groups. The primary track wasdiminished, the timing ratio of secondary presentation (filled pauses) also decreasedand the timing of incidental elements (ex: vocal noises, audible respiration) greatlyincreased. We also proposed new methodologies to examine the emotional speechproduction in HD. Finally, we found out that the manifest individuals with HD haveboth vocal and linguistic impairments during emotional speech production.; Les maladies neurodégénératives sont un enjeu social majeur et une priorité de santépublique dans le monde entier. La maladie de Huntington (MH) est une maladie rared’origine génétique qui provoque des troubles cognitifs, comportementaux et moteurs dus à des lésions cérébrales, notamment au niveau du striatum. Les personnesporteuses de la mutation génétique de la MH ont une phase pré-symptomatique deplusieurs décennies au cours de laquelle elles n’ont aucun trouble neurologique avantque la phase symptomatique n’apparaisse. Les symptômes de cette maladie ont denombreuses implications dans le quotidien, avec une perte progressive d’autonomiejusqu’au décès du patient. Cela fait de la MH un modèle potentiel de maladiesneurodégénératives qui pourrait conduire au développement de nouveaux outils desuivi clinique. Le suivi médical actuel pour la MH est onéreux et oblige le patientà se rendre régulièrement à l’hôpital, générant une charge humaine et financièreimportante. L’objectif de cette thèse est de développer et de valider de nouvellesméthodes computationnelles pour le suivi automatique des individus avec la MH,grâce à l’analyse de leurs productions langagières. En effet, la production du langage oral fait appel à diverses compétences cognitives, sociales et motrices, et saiiréalisation est influencée par l’état mental et neurologique. Notre hypothèse estqu’à travers l’inspection de la parole et de son contenu nous pouvons évaluer cesdifférentes compétences et traits. À ce jour, l’analyse des troubles de la parole et dulangage pour la MH n’est pratiquée que dans quelques services cliniques et équipesspécialisées, à petite échelle. De plus, la capacité des marqueurs issus du langageoral à prédire les différents symptômes de la MH n’a pas été explorée.Par conséquent, dans cette thèse, nous avons conçu une batterie complète de tâchesqui testent plusieurs niveaux de production de la parole, ainsi qu’un protocoled’annotations complet qui reste analysable par un programme informatique. Cettebatterie a été conçu pour obtenir un tableau clinique complet du langage parlé enMH, qui fait varier la cible linguistique, la charge cognitive, le contenu émotionnel,les sujets du discours. Pour accélérer le processus d’annotations, nous avons conçuet développé un logiciel open source pour gérer les campagnes d’annotations. Nousavons pu ainsi collecter la plus grande base de données de productions langagières,à ce jour, avec 125 entretiens annotés pour 3 groupes d’individus: des témoins sains,des individus porteurs du gène qui cause la MH mais sans symptômes cliniques et desindividus symptomatiques avec la MH à différents stades. Par ailleurs, nous avonségalement formalisé et implémenté les voies de communication introduites par H.Clark, qui permettent d’analyser la parole dans des échanges spontanés. Ensuite,pour accélérer et automatiser les annotations, nous avons développé et validé desalgorithmes d’apprentissage profond pour reconnaître les tours de parole lors desentretiens et reconnaître les voies de communication directement à partir de l’audio.Enfin, grâce à cette nouvelle base de données, nous avons évalué les capacitésdes marqueurs issus de la parole à prédire les différents symptômes de la MH.Nous avons notamment découvert que les marqueurs rythmiques et articulatoires,lors des tâches à charge cognitive plus élevée, pouvaient prédire les composantesglobales, motrices, fonctionnelles et cognitives de la maladie et corrélaient avec levolume du striatum, la marque neurale de l’évolution de la maladie. Nous avonségalement proposé de nouvelles méthodologies pour examiner la production de laparole émotionnelle dans la MH. Nous avons ainsi découvert que les individus avecdes symptoms cliniques de la MH ont à la fois des troubles vocaux et linguistiqueslors de la production de la parole émotionnelle.

In the automotive and rail domains, vehicles are entering the era of full automation thanks to wireless sensors and communication systems, shifting control functions from a human driver to computers. High data rate, robustness, high reliability and ultra-low latency wireless communications are required in the context of autonomous train and safety critical applications. Today, the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) is under development at European level within the International Union of Railways (UIC). This system will answer all the current and future needs of rail. It will be IP based, multi-bearer and resilient to technology evolution. In the context of the development of different FRMCS prototypes by industry, it is crucial to be able to test them in representative Railway radio environments thanks to laboratory tools. Characterization of radio channels in railway environments, by measurements or simulations, is a very active field. In this article, based on broad literature survey, we show that not all the published models are suitable for performance evaluation. Then, we propose a selection of typical Tapped-Delay-Line channel models to be implemented in an original hardware and software testing platform capable to reproduce the effect of representative Railway environments in laboratory, with real time emulation at RF (Radio Frequency) level. Preliminary results in Hilly 3 taps and Cutting 5 taps channel models are presented as a proof of concept of a “zero on site testing” approach, allowing for time and cost savings in the validation of railway communication systems.

Radio access technologies (RATs) are a key topic in railways, enabling them a better service rendering in terms of shorter headways between trains, higher safety levels and higher customer satisfaction. Very often, these railway RATs need a lot of time to be developed, tested and put into service, which implies a lack of efficiency and bottlenecks in the evolution of railway systems. To solve this situation, an emulation platform that considers both the physical layer and the network (this is, able to emulate the end-to-end chain) is envisaged in the EmulRadio4Rail project. Therefore, the physical layer of many railway scenarios must be emulated, which is a remarkable challenge because railways are very diverse. We see Tapped-Delay Lines (TDL) models as the most efficient way for emulation with the available hardware. In the literature, there are many TDL-based channel models for all the scenarios we considered but one: tunnels. Therefore, in order to fill this gap, we develop a novel TDL model for railway tunnels, considering the impact of the rolling stock (both high-speed railway (HSR) and subway trains). The proposed model allows the full characterization of this scenario in terms of power-delay-profile (PDP), Doppler spectrum and fading characteristics.

In the framework of the acquisition chain and devices built by i2S, the objective of this PhD is to provide efficient algorithms able to merge different acquired images corresponding to slight spatial translational displacements to get a wider super-resolved image. Consequently, this PhD takes place within the general subject of super-resolution. In this thesis, super-resolution is performed using different acquisitions. We propose the use of sensor displacement within the cameras of I2S. We propose a scheme to achieve an image with up to two times higher resolution using this technique. Furthermore, we also propose an additional image deconvolution algorithm that helps to improve the image quality further and to address any degradation problem that may occur through the super-resolution scheme. Our image deconvolution algorithm is based on variable splitting and takes advantage of the proximal operator and Fourier transform. We also proposed the use of new potential functions that can be used as prior information in image inverse problems for the first time used in image processing. Experimental results show promising capabilities of the proposed algorithm. The algorithm is successfully implemented within various cameras and devices of I2S. The practical experiments on real-world data prove the effectiveness and flexibility of our image-deconvolution. Experiments were conducted on Herschel observation maps, and promising results were obtained on such imaging data. In the last part of the thesis, the idea of plug-and-play priors for image denoising and deconvolution is presented. This thesis proposes the implementation of plug-and play-priors in an alternating minimisation scheme. The early result has shown potential to be adequate for image denoising/deconvolution application.; Dans le cadre de la chaîne d’acquisition et des dispositifs construits par I2S, l’objectif de cette thèse est de fournir des algorithmes efficaces capables de fusionner différentes images acquises correspondant à de légers déplacements de translation spatiale pour obtenir une image super-résolue plus large. Par conséquent, cette thèse s’inscrit dans le cadre général de la super-résolution. Dans cette thèse, la super-résolution est réalisée à l’aide de différentes acquisitions. Nous proposons l’utilisation du capteur de déplacement au sein des caméras d’I2S. Nous proposons un schéma pour obtenir une image avec une résolution jusqu’à deux fois plus élevée en utilisant cette technique. En outre, nous proposons également un algorithme de déconvolution d’image supplémentaire qui aide à améliorer davantage la qualité de l’image et à résoudre les problèmes de dégradation pouvant survenir via le schéma de super-résolution. Notre algorithme de déconvolution d’image est basé sur le fractionnement variable et tire parti de l’opérateur proximal et de la transformée de Fourier. Nous introduisons également de nouvelles fonctions potentielles qui peuvent être utilisées comme information préalable dans les problèmes inverses qui sont utilisés pour la premiére fois en traitement d’image. Les résultats expérimentaux montrent des capacités prometteuses de l’algorithme proposé. L’algorithme est mis en oeuvre avec succès dans diverses caméras et appareils d’I2S. Les expériences pratiques sur des données du monde réel prouvent l’efficacité et la flexibilité de notre méthode de déconvolution. Des expériences ont été menées sur des cartes d’observation de Herschel, et des résultats prometteurs ont été obtenus sur de telles données d’imagerie. Dans la dernière partie de la thèse, l’idée de priors plug-and-play pour le débruitage et la déconvolution des images est présentée. Cette thése proposel’implémentation de priors plug-and-play dans un schéma de minimisation alternée. Le premier résultat a montré un potentiel adéquat pour l’application de débruitage / déconvolution d’image.

We are constantly surrounded by sounds that we continuously exploit to adapt our actions to situations we are facing. Some of the sounds like speech can have a particular structure from which we can infer some information, explicit or not. This is one reason why speech is possibly that is the most intuitive way to communicate between humans. Within the last decade, there has been significant progress in the domain of speech andaudio processing and in particular in the domain of machine learning applied to speech and audio processing. Thanks to these progresses, speech has become a central element in many human to human distant communication tools as well as in human to machine communication systems. These solutions work pretty well on clean speech or under controlled condition. However, in scenarios that involve the presence of acoustic perturbation such as noise or reverberation systems performance tends to degrade severely. In this thesis we focus on processing speech and its environments from an audio perspective. The algorithms proposed here are relying on a variety of solutions from signal processing based approaches to data-driven solutions based on supervised matrix factorization or deep neural networks. We propose solutions to problems ranging from speech recognition, to speech enhancement or ambient sound analysis. The target is to offer a panorama of the different aspects that could improve a speech processing algorithm working in a real environments. We start by describing automatic speech recognition as a potential end application and progressively unravel the limitations and the proposed solutions ending-up to the more general ambient sound analysis., Nous sommes constamment entourés de sons que nous exploitons pour adapter nos actions aux situations auxquelles nous sommes confrontés. Certains sons comme la parole peuvent avoir une structure particulière à partir de laquelle nous pouvons déduire des informations, explicites ou non. C’est l’une des raisons pour lesquelles la parole est peut-être le moyen le plus intuitif de communiquer entre humains. Au cours de la décennie écoulée, des progrès significatifs ont été réalisés dans le domaine du traitement de la parole et du son et en particulier dans le domaine de l’apprentissage automatique appliqué au traitement de la parole et du son. Grâce à ces progrès, la parole est devenue un élément central de nombreux outils de communication à distance d’humain à humain ainsi que dans les systèmes de communication humain-machine. Ces solutions fonctionnent bien sur un signal de parole propre ou dans des conditions contrôlées. Cependant, dans les scénarios qui impliquent la présence de perturbations acoustiques telles que du bruit ou de la réverbération les performances peuvent avoir tendance à se dégrader gravement. Dans cette HDR, nous nous concentrons sur le traitement de la parole et de son environnement d’un point de vue audio. Les algorithmes proposés ici reposent sur une variété de solutions allant des approches basées sur le traitement du signal aux solutions orientées données à base de factorisation matricielle supervisée ou de réseaux de neurones profonds. Nous proposons des solutions à des problèmes allant de la reconnaissance vocale au rehaussement de la parole ou à l’analyse des sons ambiants. L’objectif est d’offrir un panorama des différents aspects qui pourraient être améliorer un algorithme de traitement de la parole fonctionnant dans un environnement réel. Nous commençons par décrire la reconnaissance automatique de la parole comme une application finale potentielle et analysons progressivement les limites et les solutions proposées aboutissant à l’analyse plus générale des sons ambiants.

Steganography is the discipline concerned with techniques designed to embed hidden data into an innocuous cover media. In the case of this manuscript, the cover media of choice are JPEG images. Steganography schemes based on a statistical model of natural images possess a clear advantage against schemes based on heuristics. Indeed, they provide a direct link between theoretical detectability and empirical performance. However, this advantage is dependent on the accuracy of the underlying cover and the stego model. Until the work presented in this manuscript, the available models were not accurate enough for statistical steganography schemes to attain competitive performances in the JPEG domain or to provide security guarantees for natural images. In this manuscript, we propose two main contributions to solve this problem. First, we derive a model of noise in the developed domain which takes into account the camera sensor, ISO setting and the full processing pipeline. This leads to a multivariate Gaussian model of the noise which models intra and inter-block dependencies in JPEG images. Secondly, we design a series of steganographic algorithms leveraging this noise model. They minimize or bound the power of the most powerful detector to provide security guarantees when meeting the model assumptions. In particular, we show that the optimal covariance of the stego signal is proportional to the covariance of the cover noise. Finally, these algorithms are shown to attain state-of-the-art performance, greatly outperforming the standard algorithms in side-informed JPEG steganography.; La stéganographie est la discipline traitant des techniques visant à dissimuler de l'information dans un média de couverture jugé inoffensif. Dans le cadre de ce manuscrit, les médias de couvertures choisis sont des images JPEG. Les schémas stéganographiques basés sur un modèle statistique d'images naturelles présentent un avantage certain par rapport aux schémas basés sur des heuristiques. En effet, ils fournissent un lien direct entre détectabilité théorique et performances empiriques. Cependant, cet avantage dépend de la précision des modèles sous-jacents. Cette précision était insuffisante dans les travaux précédants ce manuscrit. Nous proposons deux contributions principales pour résoudre ce problème. Premièrement, nous dérivons un modèle de bruit prenant en compte le capteur, le réglage ISO et la chaîne de traitement. Cela conduit à un modèle gaussien multivarié du bruit modélisant les dépendances intra et inter-blocs dans les images JPEG. Ensuite, nous concevons une série de schémas stéganographiques exploitant ce modèle de bruit. Ils minimisent ou bornent la puissance du détecteur le plus puissant pour fournir des garanties de sécurité lorque les hypothèses du modèle sont respectées. En particulier, nous montrons que la covariance optimale du signal stégo est proportionnelle à la covariance du bruit de l'image cover. Enfin, nous montrons que ces algorithmes atteignent des performances à l'état de l'art, dépassant largement les algorithmes standard de la stéganographie JPEG.

International audience; Wireless connections are more and more used in different applications and in public areas for services to consumers but also for handling (sometimes) sensitive communications (for instance in railway systems or for remote video monitoring systems). Such systems can have to face different kind of attacks that target the behind service. Our work aims to detect, as soon as possible and online, attacks that can occur on wireless networks, to be able to react very quickly. In this paper, we present some results of data analysis methods, on Wi-Fi signals, to differentiate the ones with attacks from the ones without. This study focuses on low power jamming attacks with a slight or even no impact on Wi-Fi communications. This is more challenging than detecting high power jamming attacks which have already been addressed in the literature. Being able to detect a low impact attack is a crucial issue in a global security strategy, making it possible to launch countermeasures before the interruption of the communication. The Wi-Fi bands are also in the ISM frequencies, making the environment complicated to analyze. Clustering methods such as Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering are used to identify some clusters and then to map them to the real classes (with or without attacks). A deep analysis of the clusters obtained in a dataset acquired in uncontrolled conditions is carried out. This is done in order to understand what is responsible of the clustering assignment of the different points and to extract the clusters which can be used to design a detection attack strategy.

Supposons qu'on image en transmission ou en rétrodiffusion un milieu éclairé en lumière cohérente. Supposons également que ce milieu est tel que la phase du champ rétrodiffusé apparaît en tout point comme aléatoire. On obtient alors un motif également aléatoire constitué de grains: du speckle.Si, de plus, le milieu varie au cours du temps, le signal de speckle fluctue également. Imager certaines statistiques temporelles du signal peut alors permettre d'imager le mouvement: c'est l'objet de l'imagerie de speckle dynamique. Ses applications sont nombreuses : étude de suspensions colloïdales, de séchage de peinture, imagerie médicale. Elle s'appuie souvent sur l'autocorrélation temporelle du signal: la forme de cette dernière renseigne sur le type de mouvement, et son temps caractéristique de décroissance est lié à la vitesse de fluctuation du milieu.Cependant, faute de caméras suffisamment rapides, il a longtemps été impossible d'accéder directement à l'autocorrélation temporelle des signaux rencontrés expérimentalement. L'accès aux caractéristiques du mouvement n'était donc possible que via des méthodes indirectes, comme le contraste, assez imprécises et qualitatives. Toutefois, ces dernières années, la diffusion de plus en plus large de caméras haute cadence (jusqu'à plusieurs dizaines de kHz), a changé la donne. La voie s'est ainsi ouverte à un raffinement considérable des modèles et à des gains importants en précision et en rapidité de traitement.Une telle caméra a été utilisée dans le cadre de ces travaux de thèse. Elle a permis d'imager la vascularisation sous-cutanée sur des zones variées du corps humain. On a ainsi pu évaluer la pertinence de plusieurs paramètres pour imager qualitativement le mouvement: l'efficacité du premier terme de la fonction d'autocorrélation, par exemple, a été mise en évidence. Dans le même temps, on a aussi pu constater certaines limites du speckle dynamique que la très haute cadence ne permettait pas de lever. Ainsi, au-delà d'un certain seuil, augmenter la cadence n'apporte plus d'information, tandis que l'hypothèse de stationnarité du signal est ébranlée par les effets de la pulsation cardiaque. Ces limites ne remettent pas en question l'apport considérable de la haute cadence, mais illustrent à quel point il s'agit d'un changement de paradigme.Pour en prendre la pleine mesure et exploiter au maximum le gain en résolution temporelle permis par les caméras rapides, il est nécessaire, en parallèle des études expérimentales, d'affiner les modèles existants. C'est dans cette optique qu'un travail de modélisation et de simulation du système d'imagerie a été mené. Notre but était de relier le plus précisément possible un type de dynamique du milieu aux statistiques du signal obtenu. Ainsi, il a été possible de redémontrer rigoureusement et de nuancer des résultats tenus pour phénoménologiques dans la littérature, tels que certains modèles d'autocorrélation temporelle. Ces résultats fondent la possibilité, à terme, de remonter à des grandeurs physiques fiables à partir d'un signal de speckle dynamique.Enfin, comme les modèles inverses de speckle dynamique s'appuient sur des statistiques parfois complexes sur les signaux, il convient de s'assurer que celles-ci ne sont pas altérées par des traitements tiers. En particulier, beaucoup d'opérations de traitement du signal, notamment de rééchantillonnage (sur-échantillonnage, sous-échantillonnage, recalage) sont effectuées sans conscience des effets considérables qu'elles peuvent avoir sur les statistiques du signal. Un troisième axe de ces travaux a donc consisté à caractériser ces effets en fonction des méthodes utilisées. Il a par exemple été établi qu'un filtre passe-bas (préalable à un sous-échantillonnage) tend à générer d'autant plus de corrélation longue distance qu'il est resserré en fréquence --- et donc qu'il permet d'éviter l'aliasing. Le même type de résultat a été établi avec les méthodes d'interpolation. Let us assume we use an optical system to image a medium which is illuminated with coherent light. Let us also assume this medium is such that the backscattered phase field appears as random at any point. The resulting image will then exhibit an equally random pattern, called speckle.Furthermore, if this medium evolves with time, the speckle signal will also fluctuate. By extracting appropriate temporal parameters from the signal and imaging them, we can hopefully map the motion of the medium: this is the whole point of dynamic speckle imaging. This kind of technique was applied for instance to the study of colloidal suspensions, dry paint or a wide range of biological tissues.Speckle imaging methods often rely on the temporal autocorrelation of the signal. Indeed, its shape provides precious information about the kind of motion taking place in the medium, and its characteristic decreasing time is linked to the time scale of the motion (speed or diffusion coefficient, for instance). However, for lack of cameras with sufficient acquisition speed compared to observed motions, directly sampling the temporal autocorrelation of the experimentally-acquired signals was impossible for decades. This meant the properties of the motion could only be accessed through indirect methods, such as contrast, which were rather imprecise and qualitative. Nonetheless, in the last few years, high-speed cameras (with frequencies up to a few dozens kilohertz) have become more and more available. This opened a way for a considerable refinement of the models used, and important improvements in precision and processing time.Such a camera was used for my thesis work. It enabled us to image the subcutaneous vasculature of various areas of the human body. We could then evaluate the relevance of several qualitative imaging parameters: for example, we were able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the first term of the autocorrelation function. We could also notice the limits of the dynamic speckle imaging technique, even at high speed. For instance, beyond a certain threshold, increasing the acquisition frequency does not bring any supplementary information, whereas the hypothesis that the signal is stationnary is made rather bold by the effects of the heartbeat. These issues do not question the considerable improvements enabled by high-frequency imaging, but they illustrate how much this is a paradigm shift.In order to measure the scope of this shift and to take as much advantage as possible of the gain in time resolution, the existing models also needed to be refined. With this in mind, we carried out a full modeling of our system, together with the building of a simulation program. Our purpose was to link as precisely as possible a given type of dynamics with the statistics of our signal. This enabled us, for instance, to properly demonstrate and qualify some well-known results, such as some time autocorrelation models, which were presented as obvious or phenomenological in the literature. These results may pave the way for the ability, in the longer term, to reliably infer physical parameters from a dynamic speckle signal.The last important point we focused on was the following: as inverse models used in dynamic speckle imaging sometimes rely on complex statistics on the signals, one should make sure these are not altered by incidental processing. In particular, many signal processing operations, for instance resampling (including upsampling, downsampling, registration) are performed without any awareness that they might have undesired effects on the statistics of the signal. Therefore, we tried to characterize these effects with respect to the methods used. For instance, we showed that a low-pass filter (required before subsampling) generates more long-distance correlation if it is narrow in the frequency space - that is, if it is good at preventing aliasing. We obtained a similar result with interpolation methods.

ION ITM 2022 - International Technical Meeting of Institute of Navigation, Long Beach, CA, ETATS-UNIS, 25-/01/2022 - 27/01/2022; Localization function for an advanced intelligent transport system, such as an autonomous vehicle, must ensure various operational requirements such as safety, accuracy, availability and continuity of service, anytime, anywhere, at a reasonable cost. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) have many advantages insofar as they present the most accessible technology to the user to determine its position with a certain accuracy without prior knowledge. However, in an environment where signal reception may not be optimal especially due to phenomena such as satellite blockage, multipath, intentional or unintentional interferences and spoofing, it becomes very challenging to meet all these requirements, especially those related to operational safety. The latter is measured by evaluating the integrity of the localization function. It can be evaluated through a Protection Level, which is calculated by the receiver to self-monitor its integrity, also called RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring). In the literature, integrity in presence of multipath and NLOS has been extensively investigated [1] as well interference detection and mitigation solutions [2]. However, the impact of interference presence and mitigation on integrity monitoring is not deeply addressed yet. In this study, we evaluate some key performance indicators (KPI's) for GNSS users. These indicators will be evaluated for three different cases; 1) when no interference is applied and clean GNSS signals are processed. 2) In the presence of interference but without any mitigation technique. 3) After applying a mitigation technique at the pre-correlation level to filter the interference signal. The mitigation technique relies on state-of-the-art Notch filters provided by a Septentrio receiver. The interference signals are generated in the laboratory to produce disturbances in the GNSS band. Thus, and thanks to the a priori knowledge of the true position, it is possible to establish the Stanford diagrams for these cases. A deep analysis of performance in the presence and absence of interferences and in the presence and absence of a mitigation technique allows the first conclusions to be drawn on the evolution of accuracy, availability and operational safety indicators. The preliminary results reveal the importance of considering, from the design phase of the localization function, the possibility of dealing with this phenomenon, in particular in the measurement weighting model to use for enhanced performance.

13C magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) allows studying metabolism flux and characterizing the difference between healthy and diseased conditions like in Parkinson disease. However, 13C nucleus suffers from a lack of sensitivity as both its gyromagnetic ratio and its natural abundance are low. To tackle this issue, it is possible to boost its NMR signal up to 4 order of magnitudes by hyperpolarizing it. Hyperpolarized nuclei are in a transient state which start to relax as soon as the polarization process is stopped. This excited state lasts for few tens of seconds in general. To exploit this boost in NMR signal, it is then critical to have a fast MRSI approach. I implemented and optimized a fast MRSI method which can be applied to hyperpolarized 13C but also to any nuclei having a sparse spectrum like 23Na. This quadrupolar nucleus is highly sensitive to its local environment leading to possible compartmentation. This phenomenon is poorly described in both the clinical and food science literature. I performed a 23Na relaxation study on contrasted food in term of salt quantity and food structure. I demonstrated that several sodium compartments existed in most of the food: one pool strongly bounded to the food matrix leading to quadrupolar interactions and a second pool for which sodium does not present strong interactions with the food and then no quadrupolar interactions. These observations are critical to both quantify locally the sodium and make a relationship between salt properties (concentration, interaction) and salty taste.; L’imagerie spectroscopique par résonance magnétique des noyaux X, tel que le 13C, offre des spectres plus simples qu’en 1H. De surcroit, ce noyau est notamment très utile pour l’étude du métabolisme pathologique, par exemple celui de la maladie de Parkinson. L’inconvénient principal est une sensibilité qui empêche toute application in vivo en RMN conventionnelle. L’hyperpolarisation est une solution potentielle à cette limite car elle permet d’augmenter le niveau de polarisation du 13C d’un facteur de 10000 environ, mais qui décroît rapidement durant les expériences. Afin de pouvoir profiter de signal amplifié momentanément, une méthode d’imagerie spectroscopique rapide a été développée qui s’applique aux précurseurs 13C hyperpolarisés, mais aussi à d’autres noyaux donnant lieu à des spectres clairsemés. En particulier, cette méthode peut être appliquée à l’imagerie quantitative du 23Na ayant un spectre simple et des temps de relaxation T2 très courts. Ce noyau quadripolaire est très sensible à son environnement. Cette sensibilité peut se manifester sous forme de plusieurs compartiments, chacun d’eux pouvant générer des cohérences à simple ou multiples quanta. Cette compartimentation est très peu étudiée dans les tissus biologiques et dans les aliments. C’est pourquoi, une étude de la relaxation du 23Na a été menée dans des aliments contrastés en termes de quantité de sel et de matrice. Elle montre que diverses populations de sodium coexistent dans la plupart des matrices: une population de sodium fortement liée à la matrice et une autre plus libre qui se distinguent par l’effet quadripolaire. Ce point observé pour la première fois est important pour la quantification du sel dans les aliments et le déterminisme de la sensation salée.

Sensorless control of electric motors at low speed remains a complex and fertile industrial problem. The observability degeneracy at zero speed when the rotor position is not measured represents indeed a major industrial issue for the robust control of motors. This problem is classically solved by the well-known exogenous signal injection technique. It consists in superimposing a fast-varying signal to the control law in order to generate a high-frequency response that carries the desired position information. However, traditional signal injection has major practical drawbacks, such as the introduction of parasitic acoustic noise or the limitation of the injection frequency by the Pulse-Width Modulation for electromechanical systems controlled using an inverter. For these systems, the modulated input signals endogenously create harmonics that induce effects similar to exogenous signal injection, without the limitations of the latter, and thus allowing the possibility of realizing a sensorless control scheme without mechanical sensor nor external probing signal. In both cases —exogenous and endogenous— it is still necessary to separate the HF component from the fundamental output to be able to fully exploit the induced position information, with a procedure that is applicable to the output bistream of a Sigma-Delta modulator, which is now deployed in some industrial variable-frequency drives. We propose to study the properties of the exogenous signal injection using the averaging theory. The application of this theory allows us to obtain a precise description of the injection effects on the controlled system and its outputs. For the endogenous case, a similar study can be conducted by adapting the averaging theory to hybrid systems controlled by a modulation of its inputs. The possibility of recovering the same information as in the exogenous case is thus highlighted without the need of an external perturbation. To extract the information contained in the induced perturbation, we develop a demodulation procedure for multiplexed signals, valid both on analog measurements and on a Sigma-Delta bitstream. Numerical and experimental validations on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors complete this study, and underline the inherent difficulties of PMSM control., La commande sans capteur des moteurs électriques à basse vitesse demeure une problématique industrielle à la fois complexe et fertile. La dégénérescence de l'observabilité à zéro de vitesse lorsque la position du rotor n'est pas mesurée représente en effet un enjeu industriel majeur pour la commande robuste des moteurs. Ce problème est classiquement résolu par la technique dite de l'injection de signal exogène. Elle consiste à exciter le système par une perturbation à haute fréquence afin d'engendrer une réponse HF qui porte l'information de position désirée. L'injection de signal traditionnelle présente néanmoins des inconvénients pratiques majeurs, tels que l'introduction de bruits acoustiques parasites ou encore la limitation de la fréquence d'injection par la modulation d'impulsion pour les systèmes électromécaniques contrôlés via un onduleur. Pour ces systèmes, les signaux d'entrée modulés créent de manière endogène des harmoniques qui induisent des effets similaires à l'injection de signal exogène, sans les limitations de cette dernière, laissant donc entrevoir la possibilité de réalisation d'un schéma de contrôle sans capteur ni perturbation forcée. Dans les deux cas — exogène et endogène — il reste nécessaire de séparer la composante HF de la sortie fondamentale pour pouvoir exploiter pleinement l'information de position induite, avec une procédure qui soit applicable au flux binaire en sortie d'un modulateur Sigma-Delta, que l'on retrouve désormais déployé sur certains variateurs de vitesse industriels. On se propose d'étudier les propriétés de l'injection de signal exogène en utilisant la théorie de la moyennisation. L'application de cette théorie permet notamment d'obtenir une description précise des effets de l'injection sur le système et ses sorties. Pour l'injection de signal endogène, une étude analogue peut être reproduite en adaptant la théorie de la moyennisation aux systèmes hybrides contrôlés par une modulation des entrées. Est ainsi mise en évidence la possibilité de récupérer les mêmes informations que dans le cas exogène sans avoir recours à une perturbation externe. Afin d'extraire l'information contenue dans la perturbation induite, on développe une procédure de démodulation des signaux multiplexés, valide à la fois sur des mesures analogiques ou sur un bitstream Sigma-Delta. Des validations numériques et expérimentales sur des Moteurs Synchrones à Aimants Permanents viennent parachever cette étude, et soulignent les difficultés inhérentes au contrôle d'un MSAP.

C'est un lieu commun que d'affirmer que notre société contemporaine est la société de l'information. L'information y est véhiculée par les signaux. Face à la masse des signaux qu'il est nécessaire de traiter, souvent en temps réel, des systèmes technologiques d'une grande complexité ont envahi notre société. En réponse aux enjeux actuels, des méthodes scientifiques puissantes ont été développées pour gérer une telle complexité. La maîtrise de ces méthodes devient de plus en plus incontournable dans la pratique de l'ingénieur quel que soit le domaine auquel il se destine.L'objectif de cet enseignement est de présenter les bases préalables à l'acquisition et à la maîtrise de ces méthodes et de les illustrer par leur application.

This dissertation presents a class of representations of spatial point processes. Inspired from the success of wavelet methods in signal processing, these descriptors rely on the convolution of a point process with a family of wavelet filters. From these convolutions are built sets of statistical descriptors of stationary point process, by applying non-linear operators, followed by a spatial averaging. Much like classical summary characteristics for point processes, these statistics are designed to extract information about the process with a relatively small number of numerical values, by describing its geometry. Their goal is to describe whether the atoms of the process tend to repel each other, or cluster together, and by doing so, form possibly complex geometric shapes. By construction, these descriptors enjoy several properties that make them suitable for statistical analysis and learning tasks. To illustrate the quality of these representations as statistical descriptors, we study several problems involving statistical analysis of point processes. In a first experiment, we seek to estimate an unknown function that takes as input a point pattern, and returns a marked version of this pattern, where a numerical value is associated to each atom of the pattern. We use a wavelet-based representation of point patterns to estimate the relation between their non-marked and marked version. We then study, in a second experiment, the ability of such representations to model the distribution of a point process, by defining a maximum entropy model defined by a set of wavelet-based statistics, computed on a single observation. For these two problems, we observe that our representations lead to better performance than summary statistics commonly used in the literature on point processes. Finally, to study to what extent such representations can capture geometric structures of texture images, we define a maximum entropy model relying on similar wavelet statistics, yielding syntheses of similar visual quality to state-of-the-art models based on deep convolutional neural networks representations., Cette dissertation présente une classe de représentations de processus ponctuels. Inspirés par le succès des méthodes d’ondelettes en traitement du signal, ces descripteurs sont basés sur la convolution d’un processus ponctuel avec un famille d’ondelettes. À partir de ces convolutions sont construits des ensembles de descripteurs statistiques de processus ponctuels stationnaires, en appliquant des opérateurs non linéaires, suivis d’un moyennage spatial. Tout comme les caractéristiques classiques pour les processus ponctuels, ces statistiques sont conçues pour extraire les informations contenues dans le processus en un nombre relativement faible de valeurs numériques, en décrivant sa géométrie. Leur but est de décrire la façon dont les atomes du processus ont tendance à se repousser, ou bien se regrouper, et de la sorte former des formes géométriques complexes. De par leur construction, ces descripteurs bénéficient de plusieurs propriétés qui les rendent adaptés à des tâches d’apprentissage et d’analyse statistique. Afin d’illustrer la qualité de ces représentations en tant que descripteurs statistiques, nous étudions plusieurs problèmes impliquant l’analyse statistique de processus ponctuels. Dans un première expérience, nous cherchons à estimer une fonction inconnue qui prend en argument une configuration de points, et renvoie une version marquée de cette configuration, c’est-à-dire pour laquelle une valeur numérique est associée à chaque atome de la configuration. Nous utilisons une représentation en ondelettes de ces configurations pour estimer la relation entre leur versions non marquées et marquées. Dans un second temps, nous étudions la capacité de ces descripteurs à modéliser certaines distributions de processus ponctuels, en définissant un modèle de maximum d’entropie défini par des statistiques d’ondelettes, calculées sur une unique observation. Pour ces deux problèmes, nous observons que les représentations que l’on propose amènent de meilleures performances que les statistiques classiques couramment utilisées dans la littérature sur les processus ponctuels. Enfin, pour étudier à quel point de telles représentations peuvent capturer les structures géométriques présentes dans les textures, nous définissons un model de maximum d’entropie qui s’appuie sur des statistiques d’ondelettes similaires, produisant des synthèses de qualité comparable à celles de l’état de l’art, dont les modèles sont basés sur des representations à partir de réseaux convolutionels profonds.

The analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath is a promising non-invasive approach in medicine for early diagnosis, phenotyping, disease and treatment monitoring and large-scale screening. Proton Transfer Reaction Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (PTR-TOF-MS) is of major interest for the real time analysis of VOCs and the discovery of new biomarkers in the clinics. However, there is currently a lack of methods and software tools for the processing of PTR-TOF-MS data from cohorts.We therefore developed a suite of algorithms that process raw data from the patient acquisitions, and build the table of feature intensities, through expiration and peak detection, quantification, alignment between samples, and missing value imputation. Notably, we developed an innovative 2D peak deconvolution model based on penalized splines signal regression, and a method to specifically select the VOCs from exhaled breath. The full workflow is implemented in the freely available ptairMS R/Bioconductor package. Our approach was validated both on experimental data (mixture of VOCs at standardized concentrations) and simulations, which showed that the sensitivity for the identification of VOCs from exhaled breath reached 99 %. A graphical interface was also developed to facilitate data analysis and result interpretation by experimenters (e.g., clinicians).We applied our methodology to the characterization of exhaled breath from mechanically ventilated adults with COVID-19 infection. Analysis of exhaled breath from 28 patients with an acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and COVID-19 infection, and 12 patients with non-COVID-19 ARDS were performed daily from the hospital admission to the discharge. First, classification models were built to predict the status of the infection, using the closest available acquisition to the entry into hospital, and achieved high prediction accuracies (93 %). Then, all the available data acquired during the hospital stay were used for the longitudinal analysis of the VOCs evolution as a function of the hospitalization time by mixed-effects modeling. Following feature ranking and selection, four biomarkers of COVID-19 infection were identified. Altogether, these results highlight the value of the PTR-TOF-MS data and the ptairMS software for biomarker discovery in exhaled breath., L'analyse des composés organiques volatils (COVs) dans l'air expiré est une méthode non invasive prometteuse en médecine pour le diagnostic précoce, le phénotypage, le suivi de la maladie et du traitement et le dépistage à grande échelle. La spectrométrie de masse à temps de vol par réaction de transfert de protons (PTR-TOF-MS) présente un intérêt majeur pour l'analyse en temps réel des COVs et la découverte de nouveaux biomarqueurs. Le manque de méthodes et d'outils logiciels pour le traitement des données PTR-TOF-MS provenant de cohortes représente actuellement un verrou pour le développement de ces approches.Nous avons ainsi développé une suite d'algorithmes permettant le traitement des données brutes jusqu’au tableau des intensités des molécules détectées, grâce à la détection des expirations et des pics dans les spectres de masse, la quantification dans la dimension temporelle, l'alignement entre les échantillons et l'imputation des valeurs manquantes. Nous avons notamment mis au point un modèle innovant de déconvolution des pics en 2 dimensions reposant sur une régression du signal par splines pénalisées, ainsi qu'une méthode permettant de sélectionner spécifiquement les COVs dans l'air expiré. L'ensemble du processus est implémenté dans le paquet R/Bioconductor ptairMS, disponible en ligne. Nous avons validé notre approche à la fois sur des données expérimentales (mélange de COVs à des concentrations standardisées) et par simulation. Les résultats montrent que l'identification des COVs provenant de l’air expiré à partir du modèle proposé atteint une sensibilité de 99 `%. Une interface graphique a également été développée pour faciliter l'analyse des données et l'interprétation des résultats par les expérimentateurs (les cliniciens notamment). Nous avons appliqué notre méthodologie à la caractérisation de l'air expiré d'adultes sous ventilation mécanique atteints de l’infection COVID-19. Les analyses de l'air expiré de 40 patients atteints d’un syndrome de détresse respiratoire aiguë (SDRA) ont été effectuées quotidiennement, de l'entrée à la sortie de l'hôpital. Nous avons d'abord réalisé un modèle de classification pour prédire le statut de l'infection, en utilisant l'acquisition disponible la plus proche de l’admission à l'hôpital.Ce modèle permet de prédire le statut de l'infection avec une précision de 93%. Ensuite, nous avons utilisé toutes les données disponibles pour une analyse longitudinale de l'évolution des COVs en fonction de la durée de l'hospitalisation, en utilisant un modèle à effets mixtes. Après sélection de variables, quatre biomarqueurs de l'infection par le COVID-19 ont pu être identifiés. Ces résultats soulignent la valeur des données PTR-TOF-MS et du logiciel ptairMS pour la découverte de biomarqueurs dans l'air expiré.

Autonomous driving requires a detailed understanding of complex driving scenes. The redundancy and complementarity of the vehicle’s sensors provide an accurate and robust comprehension of the environment, thereby increasing the level of performance and safety. This thesis focuses the on automotive RADAR, which is a low-cost active sensor measuring properties of surrounding objects, including their relative speed, and has the key advantage of not being impacted by adverse weather conditions.With the rapid progress of deep learning and the availability of public driving datasets, the perception ability of vision-based driving systems (e.g., detection of objects or trajectory prediction) has considerably improved. The RADAR sensor is seldom used for scene understanding due to its poor angular resolution, the size, noise, and complexity of RADAR raw data as well as the lack of available datasets. This thesis proposes an extensive study of RADAR scene understanding, from the construction of an annotated dataset to the conception of adapted deep learning architectures.First, this thesis details approaches to tackle the current lack of data. A simple simulation as well as generative methods for creating annotated data will be presented. It will also describe the CARRADA dataset, composed of synchronised camera and RADAR data with a semi-automatic method generating annotations on the RADAR representations.This thesis will then present a proposed set of deep learning architectures with their associated loss functions for RADAR semantic segmentation. The proposed architecture with the best results outperforms alternative models, derived either from the semantic segmentation of natural images or from RADAR scene understanding,while requiring significantly fewer parameters. It will also introduce a method to open up research into the fusion of LiDAR and RADAR sensors for scene understanding.Finally, this thesis exposes a collaborative contribution, the RADIal dataset with synchronised High-Definition (HD) RADAR, LiDAR and camera. A deep learning architecture is also proposed to estimate the RADAR signal processing pipeline while performing multitask learning for object detection and free driving space segmentation simultaneously., La conduite autonome exige une compréhension détaillée de scènes de conduite complexes. La redondance et la complémentarité des capteurs du véhicule permettent une compréhension précise et robuste de l'environnement, augmentant ainsi le niveau de performance et de sécurité. Cette thèse se concentre sur le RADAR automobile, qui est un capteur actif à faible coût mesurant les propriétés des objets environnants, y compris leur vitesse relative, et qui a l'avantage de ne pas être affecté par des conditions météorologiques défavorables.Avec les progrès rapides de l'apprentissage profond et la disponibilité d'ensembles de données publiques sur la conduite, la capacité de perception des systèmes de conduite basés sur la vision (par exemple, la détection d'objets ou la prédiction de trajectoire) s'est considérablement améliorée. Le capteur RADAR est rarement utilisé pour la compréhension de scène en raison de sa faible résolution angulaire, de la taille, du bruit et de la complexité des données brutes RADAR ainsi que du manque d'ensembles de données disponibles. Cette thèse propose une étude approfondie de la compréhension de scènes RADAR, de la construction d'un jeu de données annotées à la conception d'architectures d'apprentissage profond adaptées.Tout d'abord, cette thèse détaille des approches permettant de remédier au manque de données. Une simulation simple ainsi que des méthodes génératives pour créer des données annotées seront présentées. Elle décrit également le jeu de données CARRADA, composé de données synchronisées de caméra et de RADAR avec une méthode semi-automatique générant des annotations sur les représentations RADAR.%Aujourd'hui, le jeu de données CARRADA est le seul jeu de données fournissant des données RADAR brutes annotées pour des tâches de détection d'objets et de segmentation sémantique.Cette thèse présente ensuite un ensemble d'architectures d'apprentissage profond avec leurs fonctions de perte associées pour la segmentation sémantique RADAR.Elle décrit également une méthode permettant d'ouvrir la recherche sur la fusion des capteurs LiDAR et RADAR pour la compréhension de scènes.Enfin, cette thèse expose une contribution collaborative, le jeu de données RADIal avec RADAR haute définition (HD), LiDAR et caméra synchronisés. Une architecture d'apprentissage profond est également proposée pour estimer le pipeline de traitement du signal RADAR tout en effectuant simultanément un apprentissage multitâche pour la détection d'objets et la segmentation de l'espace libre de conduite.

The new 5G’s wireless networks have started to be deployed all around the world. With them, a large spectrum of services are about to emerge, resulting in new stringent requirements so that 5G targets performances exceed that of 4G by a factor of 10. The services are enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra reliable and low-latency communication (uRLLC) and massive machine-type communication (mMTC) where each of which has required the ongoing development of key new technologies. Many of these technologies will also play an important role in the emergence of 6G. In this thesis, the focus is on grant-free RA (GFRA) as an enabler of uRLLC and mMTC. GFRA is a new protocol introduced in 5G new radio (5G-NR) for reducing the data overhead of the random access (RA) procedure. This results in a significant reduction in the latencies of the user equipments (UEs) access to a connected medium via an access point (AP). Achieving efficient GFRA is of key importance for many 5G applications, e.g. for large scale internet of things (IoT) wireless networks. The study of new non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) signal processing techniques is then considered. Using tools from the theory of Bayesian compressed sensing (CS), algorithms within the family of approximate message passing (AMP) are developed to address the joint active user detection and channel estimation (AUDaCE) problem. It is crucial to properly identify transmitting UEs and guarantee that an AP can reliably transmit back data to the detected UEs. In contrast to existing work on this topic, the AUDaCE is studied for wireless networks where the activity of the UEs is correlated. To this end, two activity models are introduced. The first one models the activity of the UEs in the network with group-homogeneous activity (GHomA). The second model accounts for more general dependence structure via group-heterogeneous activity (GHetA). Approximate message passing algorithms within the hybrid GAMP (HGAMP) framework are developed for each of the models. With the aid of latent variables associated to each group for modeling the activity probabilities of the UEs, the GHomA-HGAMP algorithm can perform AUDaCE for GFRA leveraging such a group homogeneity. When the activity is heterogenous, it is possible to develop GHetA-HGAMP using the copula theory. Extensive numerical studies are performed, which highlight significant performance improvements of GHomA-HGAMP and GHetA-HGAMP over existing algorithms which do not properly account for correlated activity. In particular, the channel estimation and active user detection capability are enhanced in many scenarios with up to a 4dB improvement with twice less user errors. As a whole, this thesis provides a systematic approach to AUDaCE for wireless networks with correlated activities using Bayesian CS., Les nouveaux réseaux sans fil de la 5G commencent à être déployés dans le monde entier. Avec eux, un large spectre de services émerge, entraînant de strictes exigences de performances qui dépassent celles de la 4G d'un facteur 10. Ces services s'articulent autour du haut débit mobile amélioré (eMBB), de la communication ultra fiable et à faible latence (uRLLC) et de la communication massive de type machine (mMTC). Ils ont tous nécessité le développement de technologies clés qui joueront également un rôle important dans l'émergence de la 6G. Cette thèse met l'accent sur l'accès aléatoire spontané (GFRA) pour l'uRLLC et la mMTC. Le protocole GFRA est introduit pour le standard 5G-NR pour réduire la surcharge de données du RA. Il en résulte une réduction des latences d'accès des équipements utilisateurs (UE) à un point d'accès (AP). L'efficacité du GFRA est d'une importance capitale pour la 5G, par exemple pour l'Internet des objets (IoT). Des techniques de traitement du signal à accès multiple non orthogonal (NOMA) sont donc envisagées. À l'aide de la théorie de l'acquisition comprimée (CS) bayésienne, des algorithmes de la famille du passage de message approximé (AMP) sont développés pour résoudre les problèmes de détection d'utilisateurs actifs et d'estimation du canal (AUDaCE). Cela est crucial pour identifier correctement les UEs émetteurs en garantissant qu'un AP puisse envoyer de manière fiable les données aux UEs détectés. Contrairement aux travaux existants sur ce sujet, l'AUDaCE est étudiée pour des réseaux sans-fil où l'activité des UEs est corrélée. Deux nouveaux modèles d'activité sont introduits. Le premier modélise l'activité des UE par une activité homogène de groupe (GHomA). Le second modèle tient compte d'une structure de dépendance plus générale via l'activité hétérogène de groupe (GHetA). De nouveaux algorithmes à passage de messages approximés de la famille des algorithmes hybride GAMP (HGAMP) sont développés pour chacun des modèles. À l'aide de variables latentes associées à chaque groupe pour modéliser les probabilités d'activité des UE, l'algorithme GHomA-HGAMP peut effectuer l'AUDaCE pour le GFRA en tirant parti d'une telle homogénéité de groupe. Lorsque l'activité est hétérogène, il est possible de développer GHetA-HGAMP en utilisant la théorie des copules. Nos simulations numériques mettent en évidence des améliorations significatives des performances de GHomA-HGAMP et GHetA-HGAMP par rapport aux algorithmes existants, qui ne prennent pas correctement en compte la corrélation dans l'activité. En particulier, l'estimation du canal et la capacité de détection des utilisateurs actifs sont améliorées dans de nombreux scénarios avec une amélioration de 4dB pour l'estimation de canal et deux fois moins d'erreurs de détection. Cette thèse fournit une approche systématique de l'AUDaCE pour les réseaux sans fil avec des activités corrélées en utilisant des outils de la CS bayésienne.

Wireless connectivity standards have been developed to meet the requirements of various applications. To support a wireless standard, a wireless transceiver should be equipped with a Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver. Traditional RF transceivers are designed and implemented on a radio chip or an embedded module in a System-on-a-Chip (SoC), ensuring small size, high performance, low power consumption, and cost. However, this traditional implementation design limits directly or indirectly the programmability and flexibility of the RF transceivers. An alternative solution is to implement RF transceivers using Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms. In the market, SDR platform hardware exists with different configurations, performance, cost, size, etc., making it hard to select the minimum SDR platform necessary to satisfy the wireless standard requirements. This paper aims to provide a list of well-known General Purpose Processor (GPP) based SDR platforms satisfying the minimum specifications of selected wireless standards. To this end, we first review the characteristics of selected wireless technologies. Then, we investigate existing SDR platform architecture and their maximal performance in terms of the frequency range, bandwidth, symbol rate, bitrate, and latency support. Finally, we intersect the wireless standard requirements with the corresponding SDR platform parameters and provide a list of GPP-based SDR platforms for some existing wireless technology implementations. While investigations related to frequency, bandwidth, symbol rate and bitrate are supported by theoretical results, latency is obtained from experiments by benchmarking existing implementations.

Given the deficiency of recorded strong ground-motion data, it is important to understand the effects of earthquake rupture processes on near-source ground-motion characteristics and to develop physics-based ground-motion simulation methods for advanced seismic hazard assessments. Recently, the interfrequency correlation of ground motions has become an important element of ground-motion predictions. We investigate the effect of pseudodynamic source models on the interfrequency correlation of ground motions by simulating a number of ground-motion waveforms for the 1994 Northridge, California, earthquake, using the Southern California Earthquake Center Broadband Platform. We find that the cross correlation between earthquake source parameters in pseudodynamic source models significantly affects the interfrequency correlation of ground motions in the frequency around 0.5 Hz, whereas its effect is not visible in the other frequency ranges. Our understanding of the effects of earthquake sources on the characteristics of near-source ground motions, particularly the interfrequency correlation, may help develop advanced physics-based ground-motion simulation methods for advanced seismic hazard and risk assessments.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) integrity is defined as a measure of trust that can be placed in the correctness of the information supplied by the total system. Initially developed for safety critical applications in the aeronautic domain, this concept has attracted more and more attention from terrestrial GNSS-based applications in recent years. The main problem of integrity monitoring for urban transport applications is related to GNSS signal degradation due to local effects such as multipath and non-line-of-sight reception. This article proposes two integrity monitoring schemes with two classes of approaches, based on either the snapshot weighted least-squares residual or sequential weighted extended Kalman filter innovation. The integrity monitoring schemes are mainly realized by two modules: accuracy enhancement, in which measurement errors are better characterized, and integrity monitoring, in which one of the fault detection and exclusion techniques, i.e., the Danish reweighting method, is applied. The results with real GPS data collected in urban canyons show that the proposed system can effectively improve positioning accuracy and guarantee system integrity.

Machine learning has become a popular research topic in recent years, thanks to the reintroduction of neural networks in the early 2010s. The abundance of data and computational power at that time allowed for very good performance in a variety of learning tasks using these neural networks. In recent years, the learning community has focused on generalizing these models to less structured data carried by graphs. Neural networks on graphs have been proposed and have recently met with some success, especially graph convolution networks; they are used in a wide variety of learning models related to graphs. Nevertheless, these networks have limitations, but they can be circumvented by integrating them into an adequate learning model.In this thesis, we have been able to work on some of these representation learning problems for assigned graphs, using these neural networks on graphs. In particular, we have extended CCA (Canonical Correlation Analysis) which is a classical multi-view representation method to attributed graphs, by obtaining interesting properties of robustness and adaptation to a large volume of data. We have also been interested in the issue of Euclidean representation of graphs. We have proposed a multi-scale representation method that can also handle a large volume of data and is inductive; being differentiable from end to end, this method can also be combined with other automatic learning approaches. The method also overcomes one of the limitations of convolution networks, which have difficulty in extracting global information from graphs. Finally, our work explored how to define a notion of distances between graphs and more particularly how to address the issue of metric learning for assigned data sets, by combining neural networks and optimal transport. The objective is then to propose a simple but efficient model for this metric learning task. On a ainsi proposé une méthode de représentation multi-échelle qui puisse également traiter un grand volume de données et soit inductive ; étant différentiable de bout en bout cette méthode peut aussi être combinée avec d’autres approches d’apprentissages automatiques. La méthode permet aussi de s’affranchir d’une des limitations des réseaux de convolutions qui ont du mal à extraire des informations globales sur les graphes. Enfin, nos travaux ont exploré comment définir une notion de distances entre graphe et plus particulièrement comment aborder la question d'apprentissage de métrique pour des jeux de données attribuées, en combinant des réseaux de neurones et du transport optimal. Les expérimentations de proximité sont un outil essentiel dans la télédétection de la terre car elles permettent d’acquérir de longues séries temporelles de mesures pouvant anticiper et accompagner le développement de nouvelles technologies spatiales. Dans le cadre de la préparation de la mission spatiale BIOMASS, le diffusiomètre TropiScat-2 installé sur la tour Guyaflux (Guyane Française) a permis d’étendre et de consolider l’expérimentationinitiale TropiScat. BIOMASS sera le premier radar imageur en bande P (λ ≈ 70 cm) dont l’objectif est de cartographier le stock de carbone dans les forêts à l’échelle globale grâce à des mesures inédites en configuration repeat-pass interférométrique et tomographique. L’efficacité de ces modes a été démontrée grâce aux campagnes aéroportées sans pour autant s’assurer de leur robustesse par rapport aux conditions d’observation variables. A partir des séries multifréquences inédites de l’expérimentation TropiScat-2, cette thèse vise à caractériser les variations temporelles du signal radar rétrodiffusé sur un site de forêt tropicale dense. Des mesures en bande P, L et C ont été acquises quasi simultanément toutes les 15 minutes, constituant une base de données d’environ deux années pour ce travail de thèse. L’exploitation de ces données a été réalisée grâce à des algorithmes implémentés au cours de ce travail, se basant d’une part sur les réponses impulsionnelles issues des mesures fréquentielles, et d’autre part sur la formation de tomogrammes dans le cas des données en bande P. Des corrections adaptées ont été développées et intégrées à ces algorithmes afin de tenir compte des spécificités de ce type d’expérimentation. L’exploitation des séries temporelles en bande P a permis de quantifier la décorrélation temporelle à long terme d’une forêt tropicale, selon des intervalles de temps clés des scénarii d’acquisition de BIOMASS. Cette étude révèle que les cohérences temporelles à 18 jours (correspondant à l’intervalle de temps entre la première et la dernière acquisition du traitement tomographique BIOMASS) varient en fonction de la saisonnalité et peuvent donc impacter les performances de la mission. En outre, des valeurs significatives ont été obtenues pour les cohérences à 7 et 14 mois, ouvrant la voie à de nouvelles méthodes pour l’exploitation des données issues de différents cycles de la mission. L’exploitation du traitement tomographique a permis d’imager dans le plan vertical la rétrodiffusion en bande P de la forêt. Ce traitement a permis de séparer les contributions de rétrodiffusion au niveau du sol et celles au niveau du volume de la forêt, permettant ainsi la caractérisation de leurs évolutions temporelles respectives à court terme via les variations diurnes et à long terme via les effets saisonniers. L’aspect multifréquence des données TropiScat-2 a été initié par l’analyse de données inédites en bande C. Cette étude a permis de dissocier les sources de décorrélation temporelle impactant le signal bande C notamment le vent et l’évapotranspiration. Des pistes de synergies inter-fréquences ont pu être initiées à travers l’exploitation simultanée des données en bandes P, L et C, qui a permis de caractériser les liens entre ces trois fréquences que ce soit pour les cohérences ou les intensités. Ce travail de thèse permet de souligner le rôle de la décorrélation temporelle non seulement comme une source de perturbation pour les applications cohérentes mais également comme un indicateur pertinent de l’évolution des forêts. Les résultats obtenus permettent d’enrichir nos connaissances sur l’interaction des micro-ondes avec la végétation dense, sur lesquelles pourront se baser des scénarii d’acquisition innovants pour BIOMASS, en lien avec d’autres missions à plus haute revisite temporelle. Field experiments are an essential tool in Earth remote sensing as they allow the acquisition of long time series of measurements that can anticipate and accompany the development of new space technologies. As part of the preparation of the BIOMASS space mission, the TropiScat-2 scatterometer installed on the Guyaflux tower (French Guiana) has made it possible to extend and consolidate the initial TropiScat experiment. BIOMASS will be the first P-band imaging radar (λ ≈ 70 cm) whose objective is to map the quantity of carbon stored in forests on a global scale using novel measurements in repeat-pass interferometric and tomographic configurations. The efficiency of these configurations has been demonstrated thanks to airborne campaigns, but without ensuring their robustness with respect to variable observation conditions. Based on novel multi-frequency data collected by the TropiScat-2 experiment, this thesis aims to understand and characterize the temporal variations of the radar backscatter signal over a dense tropical forest site. P-, L- and C-band measurements were acquired quasi synchronously every 15 minutes, constituting a nearly two-year database for this thesis work. The exploitation of this dataset has been performed thanks to algorithms implemented during this work, based on the one hand on the impulse responses derived from the frequency measurements, and on the other hand on the formation of tomograms in the case of P-band data. Adapted corrections have been developed and implemented into these algorithms in order to take into account the particularities of this type of experimentation. P-band time series were exploited in order to quantify long-term temporal decorrelation over a tropical forest according to key time intervals of the BIOMASS acquisition scenarios. This study has revealed that temporal coherences at 18 days (corresponding to the time interval between the first and last acquisition of the BIOMASS tomographic processing) vary with seasonality and therefore can impact the mission performance. In addition, significant values were obtained for the 7- and 14-month coherences, opening the way to new methods for the exploitation of data from different mission cycles. The tomographic processing was used to vertically image the P-band backscatter of the forest. This processing allowed the separation of backscatter contributions at the ground level and those at the forest volume level, thus enablingthe characterization of their respective temporal evolutions in the short term through diurnal variations and in the long term through seasonal effects. The multi-frequency feature of TropiScat-2 was initiated by the analysis of novel C-band data. This study allowed to dissociate the sources of temporal decorrelation impacting the C-band signal, in particular wind and evapotranspiration. Inter-frequency synergies have been initiated through the simultaneous processing of P-, L- and C-band data. These quasi-synchronous measurements have allowed us to characterize the links between the three frequencies, whether for coherences or intensities. This thesis work highlights the role of temporal decorrelation not only as a source of disturbance for coherent applications but also as a relevant indicator of forest evolution. The obtained results allow to enrich our knowledge on the interaction of microwaves with dense vegetation, on which innovative acquisition scenarios for BIOMASS can be based, in connection with other missions with higher temporal revisit.

This thesis is about the definition and study of the Diffusion-Wasserstein distances between attributed graphs.An attributed graph is a collection of points with individual descriptions (features) and links between them (structure), like molecules or a social network. The Diffusion-Wasserstein distance is a generalization of the Wasserstein distance. It defines a metric for attributed graphs, and allow the computation of a transport map between them. It exploits the graph diffusion process to define new features for the nodes, and compare them. The diffusion time τ acts as a hyper-parameter, weighting the relative importance of the features and the structure. Compared to other transport distances that take into account features and a graph structure, the Diffusion-Wasserstein distance is faster to compute and yields better results in Domain Adaptation tasks.The computational side of the diffusion process received special attention. We used polynomial approximation using a Chebychev basis to accelerate these computations. We proved a new bound for the approximation error of the exponential operator, and showed how parts of the computation can be re-used for new diffusion times τ.A specific heuristic was developed to choose the diffusion time τ. It works by minimizing a function akin to a triplet-loss. I uses impostors, synthetic graphs built to be dissimilar in specific ways to the original attributed graphs whose distance is required. Audio source separation is the task of estimating the individual signals of several sound sourceswhen only their mixture can be observed. It has several applications in the context of musicsignals such as re-mixing, up-mixing, or generating karaoke content. Furthermore, it serves as apre-processing step for music information retrieval tasks such as automatic lyrics transcription.State-of-the-art performance for musical source separation is achieved by deep neural networkswhich are trained in a supervised way. For training, they require large and diverse datasetscomprised of music mixtures for which the target source signals are available in isolation. However,it is difficult and costly to obtain such datasets because music recordings are subject to copyrightrestrictions and isolated instrument recordings may not always exist.In this dissertation, we explore the usage of prior knowledge for deep learning based sourceseparation in order to overcome data limitations.First, we focus on a supervised setting with only a small amount of available training data. It isour goal to investigate to which extent singing voice/accompaniment separation can be improvedwhen the separation is informed by lyrics transcripts. To this end, we propose a general approachto informed source separation that jointly aligns the side information with the audio signal usingan attention mechanism. We perform text-informed speech-music separation and joint phonemealignment to evaluate the approach. Results show that text information improves the separationquality. At the same time, text can be accurately aligned with the speech signal even if it ishighly corrupted. In order to adapt the approach to the more challenging task of text-informedsinging voice separation, we propose DTW-attention. It is a combination of dynamic time warpingand attention that encourages monotonic alignments of the lyrics with the audio signal. Theresult is a novel lyrics alignment method which requires a much smaller amount of training datathan state-of-the-art methods while providing competitive performance. Furthermore, we findthat exploiting aligned phonemes can improve singing voice separation, but precise alignment andaccurate transcripts are required. Modifications of the input text result in modifications of theseparated voice signal. For our experiments we transcribed the lyrics of the MUSDB corpus andmade them publicly available for research purposes.Finally, we consider a scenario where only mixtures but no isolated source signals are availablefor training. We propose a novel unsupervised deep learning approach to musical source separation.It exploits information about the sources’ fundamental frequencies (F0) which can be estimatedfrom the mixture. The method integrates domain knowledge in the form of differentiable para-metric source models into the deep neural network. Experimental evaluation on a vocal ensembleseparation task shows that the proposed method outperforms F0-informed learning-free methodsbased on non-negative matrix factorization and an F0-informed supervised deep learning baseline.Combining data-driven and knowledge-based components, the proposed method is extremely data-efficient and achieves good separation quality using less than three minutes of training data. Cependant, il est difficile et coûteux d’obtenir de telles bases dedonnées car les enregistrements musicaux sont soumis aux restrictions de droits d’auteur et lesenregistrements d’instruments isolés n’existent pas toujours.Dans cette thèse, nous explorons l’utilisation d’informations supplémentaires pour la séparationde sources par apprentissage profond, afin de s’affranchir d’une quantité limitée de données.D’abord, nous considérons un cadre supervisé avec seulement une petite quantité de donnéesd’entraı̂nement disponibles. Notre objectif est d’étudier dans quelle mesure la séparation voixchantée/accompagnement peut être améliorée lorsque la séparation est informée par la transcrip-tion des paroles. À cette fin, nous proposons une approche générale de séparation de sourcesinformée qui aligne les informations secondaires avec le signal audio pendant la séparation grâceà un mécanisme d’attention. Nous effectuons une séparation parole-musique informée par le texteconjointement avec un alignement des phonèmes pour évaluer l’approche. Les résultats montrentqu’information textuelle améliore la qualité de la séparation. En même temps, le texte peutêtre aligné avec précision avec le signal vocal même s’il est fortement perturbé. Afin d’adapterl’approche à la tâche plus difficile de la séparation de la voix chantée informée par le texte, nousproposons la technique de DTW-attention. Il s’agit d’une combinaison de dynamic time warping(déformation temporelle dynamique) et d’attention qui encourage les alignements monotones desparoles avec le signal audio. Le résultat est une nouvelle méthode d’alignement des paroles quinécessite une quantité de données d’entraı̂nement beaucoup plus faible que les méthodes de l’étatde l’art tout en offrant des performances compétitives. En outre, nous constatons que l’exploitationdes phonèmes alignés peut améliorer la séparation de la voix chantée, mais un alignement préciset des transcriptions exactes sont nécessaires. Les modifications du texte d’entrée entraı̂nent desmodifications du signal vocal séparé. Pour nos expériences, nous avons retranscrit les paroles ducorpus MUSDB et les avons rendues publiques à des fins de recherche.Enfin, nous considérons un scénario où seuls des mélanges, mais aucun signal source isolé,sont disponibles pour l’apprentissage. Nous proposons une nouvelle approche d’apprentissage pro-fond non supervisé pour la séparation de sources musicales. Elle exploite les informations surles fréquences fondamentales (F0) des sources qui peuvent être estimées à partir du mélange. Laméthode intègre des connaissances du domaine sous la forme de modèles de sources paramétriquesdifférentiables dans le réseau neuronal profond. L’évaluation expérimentale d’une séparation d’unensemble vocal montre que la méthode proposée surpasse les méthodes sans apprentissage in-formées par F0 et basées sur la factorisation de matrices non négatives, ainsi qu’une approched’apprentissage profond supervisé informée par F0. One of the key technological issues in the development of future wireless communications network like 5G is the settlement of the new frequencies higher than the classical sub-6 GHz bands, and called millimeter waves (above 30 GHz). Indeed, at these frequencies electronic sources are very expensive, have a high-power consumption and occupy a lot of space, which make them unsuitable for embedded and remote applications. As a replacement optical coherent technology is in first position due to its high compatibility with the already fibered network while requiring very few elements at remote sites, like antennas for instance. Furthermore, the maturity level reached by photonic integrated circuits is now at a decisive moment when they can be used massively within coherent transmission components. This being combined with a downscale of antenna size, due to lower wavelength in millimeter wave, allows new architectures to introduce beamforming and spatial division multiplexing to increase network fronthaul capacity. Among all optically assisted millimeter wave generation methods the one we deal with in this work is named optical phase lock loop, which compatibility with standardized photonic integrated circuits is also investigated. The working principle relies on an electronic feedback loop making optical phase variations of two independent lasers correlated, and their resulting beat note being then artificially coherent. Thus, the latter is very easy to use in order operate optically assisted frequency up- and down-conversion of a millimeter wave signal. This method benefits from strong assets like its high available optical power and its flexibility toward complex photonics architectures which makes it very suitable to supply photonic integrated circuits dedicated to signal processing, as beamforming networks for instance. In this work we developed an optical phase lock loop based on commercially available fibered components in order to demonstrate the viability of using semiconductor lasers for coherent applications. This loop has then been implemented in several transmission schemes in the K-band (20-30 GHz) for future 5G experiments, all within the blueSPACE European project. This has led us to investigate the effect of the loop phase noise on QAM modulation formats and OFDM method, both being standards for 5G and beyond. In parallel we designed an optical phase lock loop photonic integrated circuit, which fabrication has been subcontracted to a commercial indium phosphide foundry, in order to evaluate the maturity of the process towards high complexity devices.; L’un des principaux verrous technologiques inhérents au développement des nouvelles technologies de communications sans-fil, comme la 5G, est la transition des fréquences radios classiques, inférieures à 6 GHz, vers le domaine des ondes millimétriques, au-delà de 30 GHz. En effet, les sources électroniques permettant de générer de telles ondes ne sont pas compatibles avec les applications visées, notamment le déploiement au sein d’unités déportées, car trop volumineuses, coûteuses et gourmandes en énergie. Pour les remplacer, les technologies optiques cohérentes font office de favorites car elles permettent de bénéficier des infrastructures déjà déployées en fibre optique tout en minimisant les éléments nécessaires au niveau des antennes. Par ailleurs, la maturité des circuits photoniques intégrés arrive à un point décisif aujourd’hui ce qui permet d’envisager leur usage massif dans les futurs dispositifs de transmissions cohérentes. L’association de ces technologies avec la réduction de la taille des antennes dans le domaine millimétrique débloque également l’accès à des solutions comme la formation de faisceaux et le multiplexage spatial, dont les utilisations dans ce contexte étaient jusqu’ici limitées. Parmi les techniques de génération d’ondes millimétriques par voie optique nous avons décidé d’étudier dans ces travaux la boucle à verrouillage de phase optique, ainsi que sa compatibilité avec les technologies de fonderies commerciales pour la réalisation de circuits intégrés. Le principe repose sur l’asservissement, à l’aide de correcteurs électroniques, des variations de phase de deux lasers dans le but de les rendre artificiellement cohérents. Le battement de ces deux lasers peut alors être facilement utilisé pour effectuer une montée en fréquence de la bande de base vers le domaine millimétrique. Les avantages de cette technique reposent sur une forte puissance optique disponible alliée à une grande flexibilité d’architecture, ce qui convient particulièrement bien à une utilisation au sein de circuits photoniques de traitement de plus en plus complexes. Dans ces travaux nous avons d’abord développé une boucle à base de composants télécoms fibrés commerciaux afin de montrer la viabilité de l’utilisation des lasers à semi-conducteurs au sein de ce genre de dispositif. Cette boucle a été ensuite implémentée dans diverses expériences de transmissions en bande K (20-30 GHz) au sein du démonstrateur du projet européen blueSPACE sur la 5G, ce qui nous a permis d’étudier la robustesse de la boucle en termes de bruit de phase relativement aux formats de modulations QAM et à la méthode OFDM, standards pour la future 5G. En parallèle nous avons conçu un circuit photonique de boucle à verrouillage de phase dont nous avons ensuite sous-traité la fabrication à une fonderie commerciale afin d’évaluer la maturité du procédé de fabrication pour la réalisation de ce genre de composant.

Frequency domain decomposition (FDD) of the output-only system is developed to define new modal parameters to be monitored. Parameters from OMA make it possible to characterize the structure using experimental modal analysis EMA). The method is applied to a bridge pier subjected to scour. Indeed, a prestressed concrete, motorway bridge on A71 in France has been equipped with sensors to follow in real time the vibrational behavior and external events such as temperature, hydraulic flow velocity and scour depth. This measuring chain is connected to a central acquisition system. Collected data are post-processed in the frequency domain combining a standardmethod for modal parameter estimation and statistic methods using averaging and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). A fully automated method is developed by correlating operational modal parameters with data of external event. Finally, anassessment of the evolution of the structural health condition of the bridge in real time is carried out.

In this paper, we propose a methodology to overcome such an issue, based on the post-processing of oscilloscope measurements. One of the interest is to use IoT communication solutions in order to centralize the data measured by the different sensors distributed everywhere along the railway infrastructures and on board the trains. In this perspective, different communication protocols could be employed. This paper deals specifically with the LoRa communication protocol and analyses its susceptibility in the presence of railway electromagnetic interferences. This paper presents a susceptibility analysis of the LoRa communications in the presence of transient EM interferences representative of the electromagnetic interferences produced by the sliding catenary-pantograph contact.

Current trends point towards an accelerated augmentation of devices with a desire to access the shared radio spectrum, both due to the continued democratisation and capability augmentation of user facing radio devices, such as cellphones, computers, and especially wearables, but also to the deployment of connected objects and sensors. Technology, protocols, and legislation improvements increase the available frequency bands by opening new channels in the GHz range, but the density of devices is nevertheless expected to increase. Multiple access to a shared radio frequency resource leads to situations that are both complex to model, and to tackle with known algorithms, and it is true of detection tasks that arise in the physical layer of a wireless transmission. The class of deep learning algorithms is especially useful in this sort of situation without model, or with non tractable algorithms, as long as a large amount of labelled data is available to train the related neural networks. This thesis aims at adapting the deep learning tool to physical layer detection problems, in successive steps of a decoding chain. First with the problem of detecting the origin of a received packet, starting with hardware fingerprinting of a transmitting device, and extending it to a scenario with multiple active devices at the same time, detecting the set of active devices transmitting an explicit codeword. The next step after origin detection is bit detection, to decode transmitted messages. For that, deep learning is used to learn constellations allowing for an efficient bit detection in a multiple-access scenario, namely the two-user uplink NOMA. Data used to train the networks involved in this thesis are gathered both from simulated models, and from experimental implementations in the FIT/CorteXlab software defined radio test-bed.; Les tendances actuelles pointent vers une accélération de l'augmentation du nombre d'objets cherchant à accéder au spectre radio, à la fois par la démocratisation des objets grand public, smartphones, ordinateurs, montres connectées,... et par le déploiement d'objets et capteurs connectés. Des avancées technologiques, protocolaires et législatives augmentent les bandes de fréquence disponibles en ouvrant l'accès à la zone des GHz, mais la densité des objets communicant sur le spectre tend quand même à augmenter. L'accès multiple à une ressource radio partagée mène à des situations qui sont à la fois complexes à modéliser et à aborder avec les algorithmes actuels, et c'est particulièrement vrai pour les taches de type détection présentes au niveau des couches physiques des communications sans fil. Les algorithmes d'apprentissage profond sont particulièrement utiles dans ce type de situation, sans modèle ou avec des algorithmes existant peu pratiques, pour peu qu'une grande quantité de données soit disponible pour entraîner les réseaux de neurones. Cette thèse vise à adapter l'outil de l'apprentissage profond aux problèmes de détection de la couche physique, à différentes étapes de la chaîne de décodage. D'abord par le problème de la détection d'origine d'un paquet reçu, commençant par l'identification de caractéristiques matérielles d'un l'objet émetteur, puis étendant ce scénario à un ensemble d'objets actifs simultanément. L'étape suivant la détection de l'origine d'un paquet est la détection des bits, pour décoder les messages transmis. Dans ce cadre, l'apprentissage profond est employé pour apprendre des constellations permettant une détection efficace des bits dans un scénario multi-accès non orthogonal à deux utilisateurs. Les données servant à l'apprentissage des réseaux de neurones impliqués dans cette thèse sont récoltées soit dans des modèles simulés, soit par des expériences implémentées dans l'équipement de radio logicielle FIT/CorteXlab.

Academic research and monitoring of areas with high telluric hazards require number of seismic equipment that may present some limitations. Indeed, the cost of these systems can be high, and their deployment is sometimes very challenging. Thus, the harsh environment inherent to some geographical areas, such as volcanic edifices (temperature, acidity and lightning), deep boreholes, or seabed, do not always allow the installation of measurement devices and prevent the real-time monitoring of active areas on the long run. A fiber optic displacement sensor applied to seismology, based on an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer, was proposed at the end of the LINES project (RiskNat ANR – 2009-2012). This work aimed to enhance the robustness and reduce the cost of new seismometers, while maintaining good metrological performances.The work presented in this thesis, part of the ANR HIPERSIS project (2017-2019), aims to (i) model the opto-electronic measurement system, in order to evaluate its performances (especially noise level, linearity, bandwidth), and the impact of the environmental conditions on its behavior, (ii) to design, model and engineer a geophone suitable for the optical measurement system, and compliant with the specifications of the HIPERSIS project, and (iii) to install and characterize the whole system on a site of interest : La Grande Soufrière Volcano, Guadeloupe. We will conduct a first assessment of the contribution of this seismometer to the study of the volcano microseismicity. The results of this study might open promising perspectives for monitoring networks in harsh environments: natural or industrial environment (geoindustries or civil engineering), as well as the diversification of mechanical structures associated with the optical interrogator (hydrophone, inclinometer, etc.).; La recherche académique et la surveillance de zones présentant des aléas telluriques élevés nécessitent la mise en œuvre d’une instrumentation sismologique pouvant présenter certains facteurs limitants, tant en termes de couts que de facilité de déploiement. Ainsi, les fortes contraintes environnementales inhérentes à certaines zones géographiques, comme les édifices volcaniques (température, acidité, foudre), les forages profonds, ou les fonds marins, ne permettent pas toujours l’installation de matériel de mesure et la surveillance en temps réel de zones actives sur le long terme. Le projet LINES (ANR RiskNat – 2009-2012) a permis le développement d’un capteur de déplacement à fibre optique appliqué à la sismologie. Ce dernier, basé sur un interféromètre de Fabry-Pérot extrinsèque a permis d’envisager l’émergence de nouveaux sismomètres plus robustes et moins coûteux, tout en leur garantissant de bonnes performances métrologiques.Les travaux présentés dans cette thèse s’inscrivent dans la continuité de ce premier projet. Intégrés à l’ANR HIPERSIS (2017-2019), ils visent à (i) proposer un modèle du système de mesure optoélectronique, afin d’évaluer ses performances en termes de niveaux de bruits, de linéarité, de bande passante notamment, et l’impact des conditions environnementales sur son comportement, à (ii) concevoir, modéliser et réaliser un géophone adapté au système de mesure optique, et conforme aux attendus du projet HIPERSIS et à (iii) installer et qualifier l’ensemble du système sur un site d’intérêt : la Grande Soufrière de Guadeloupe. Un premier bilan quant à l’apport de ce sismomètre à l’étude de la microsismicité du volcan sera dressé. Les résultats de cette étude pourraient notamment encourager le déploiement en réseau de ce type de capteur sur d’autres sites d’intérêt – naturels ou industriels (géoindustries ou génie civil), ainsi que la diversification des structures mécaniques associées à l’interrogateur optique (hydrophone, inclinomètre).

In continuity with other work of the binaural community we believe that spatialized sound can be an effective tool for guiding blind people, including for sports practice.A system for binaural audio guidance must be sufficiently accurate and responsive to be able to take into account every movement of the subject. This has led us to the development and implementation of a real-time localization system and a low-latency binaural spatialization software. Finally, we integrated the whole system into an embedded device.The advanced global satellite navigation techniques (augmented and multi-band) are not always available indoor or in urban environments. This is why we have been working on alternative methods of location and real-time tracking for indoor applications. First of all we have developed a robust real-time calibration and lateration method using an Ultra WideBand beacon network using a Kalman filter (UKF). We have also developed an original localization method using an unmodulated continuous wave Doppler radar array. We showed that it is possible to use the amplitude of the Doppler signal to estimate the distance to a moving object. We have then implemented a particle filter to allow real time localization by hybridization of distance data, measurements of radial Doppler velocity augmented by the heading provided by an inertial unit.In the field of acoustics and binaural audio, we have focused on understanding people's abilities to locate and track sound in motion. To do this we conducted experiments using natural and spatialized sounds using a binaural audio engine. These experiments showed that, on the azimuthal plane, spatialized audio stimuli allow for a localization comparable to natural sounds, even with non-individualized and interpolated HRTFs (head-related transfer function). Moreover, we were able to show that even in the azimuthal plane, the stimuli obtained by HRTF convolution are superior to panning (ITD+ILD) both for fixed and moving sounds. Based on the previous work of the team, we have implemented efficient algorithms for the real-time sound spatialization on embedded platforms with limited resources. For an efficient implementation, this real-time approach implied a thorough understanding of the sources of latency whether they are related to head-tracking or to the audio subsystem of modern operating systems.Finally, we used these localization methods and audio techniques to build a guidance device where a sound source continuously precedes the person to indicate the path to follow. It has been designed in collaboration with visually impaired people, in an iterative process and with an approach focused on the user needs. We then carried out guiding experiments with blind people in conjunction with our associative partners, which made it possible to evaluate different control strategies. We have thus been able to confirm that spatialized sound could constitute an effective tool for guiding blind people, without inducing any penalizing cognitive load, for practicing sports such as walking, running or rollerblading in partial autonomy, including the context of performance., Dans la continuité d’autres travaux de la communauté du son binaural, nous pensons que le son spatialisé peut constituer un outil efficace pour guider des personnes aveugles, y compris pour la pratique sportive.Un système destiné au guidage par audio binaural doit être suffisamment précis et réactif pour pouvoir prendre en compte chaque mouvement du sujet à guider, ce qui a impliqué le développement et la mise en œuvre d’un système de localisation temps réel et d'un logiciel de spatialisation binaural à faible latence. Enfin nous avons intégré l’ensemble dans un dispositif embarqué.Les techniques les plus avancées de navigation globale par satellite (augmenté et multibande) ne sont pas toujours disponibles en intérieur ou en environnement urbain. C’est pourquoi nous avons travaillé sur des méthodes alternatives de localisation et de suivi temps réel pour l’intérieur. Tout d’abord nous avons développé une méthode de calibration et de latération temps réel robuste par réseau de balises Ultra WideBand utilisant un filtre de Kalman (UKF). Nous avons également développé une méthode originale de localisation par réseau de radars Doppler à onde continue non modulée. Nous avons montré qu’il était possible d’utiliser l’amplitude du signal Doppler pour estimer la distance à un objet mobile. Nous avons alors implémenté un filtre particulaire qui permet la localisation en temps réel par hybridation des données de distance, des mesures de vitesse radiale Doppler et du cap fourni par une centrale inertielle.Dans le domaine de l’acoustique et de l’audio binaural, nous avons cherché à mieux comprendre les capacités des personnes à localiser et à suivre un son en mouvement. Pour cela nous avons mené des expériences en utilisant des sons naturels et des sons spatialisés par audio binaural. Nous avons pu montrer, que sur le plan azimutal, les stimuli audio spatialisés permettaient une localisation comparable aux sons naturels, y compris avec les HRTFs (head-related transfer function) non individualisées et interpolées. Par ailleurs, nous avons pu montrer que même sur le plan azimutal, les stimuli obtenus par convolution de HRTFs étaient supérieurs au panning (ITD+ILD) pour les sons fixes et pour les sons en mouvement. En nous appuyant sur les travaux antérieurs de l’équipe, nous avons implémenté des algorithmes efficaces pour la spatialisation sonore temps-réel sur des plateformes embarquées disposant de peu de ressources. Pour une mise en œuvre efficace, cette approche temps-réel a impliqué une compréhension approfondie des sources de latence qu’elles soient liées au head-tracking ou au sous-système audio des systèmes d’exploitation modernes.Finalement nous avons mis en œuvre ces méthodes de localisation et ces techniques audio pour construire un dispositif de guidage où la source sonore précède continuellement la personne pour lui indiquer le chemin à suivre.Il a été conçu en lien avec des personnes déficientes visuelles, dans une démarche itérative et avec une approche centrée sur les besoins utilisateurs. Nous avons alors mené des expériences de guidage avec des personnes aveugles, en lien avec nos partenaires associatifs, qui ont permis d’évaluer différentes stratégies de contrôle. Nous avons ainsi pu confirmer que le son spatialisé pouvait constituer un outil efficace pour guider des personnes aveugles sans induire de charge cognitive pénalisante pour des pratiques sportives comme la marche, la course à pied ou le roller en autonomie partielle, y compris dans un contexte de recherche de performances.

Signal identification is of great interest for various applications such as spectrum sharing and interference management. A typical signal identification system can be divided into two steps. A feature vector is first extracted from the received signal, then a decision is made by a classification algorithm according to its observed values. Some existing techniques show good performance but they are either sensitive to noise level or have high computational complexity. In this paper, a machine learning algorithm is proposed for the identification of vehicular communication signals. The feature vector is made up of Instantaneous Frequency (IF) resulting from time–frequency (TF) analysis. Its dimension is then reduced using the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique, before being fed into a Random Forest classifier. Simulation results show the relevance and the low complexity of IF features compared to existing cyclostationarity-based ones. Furthermore, we found that the same accuracy can be maintained regardless of the noise level. The proposed framework thus provides a more accurate, robust and less complex V2X signal identification system.

In this thesis we carry out the study of an SBL (Short BaseLine) localization system of an underwater transmitting beacon. The objective of this work is to propose a simple and easily deployable device. The tracking system is made of four hydrophones positioned on a small boat. The hydrophones are georeferenced with a GPS receiver and a magnetic compass positioned on the boat. The beacon provides the positioning system with its depth obtained using a pressure sensor. The considered marine environment is shallow water (the Channel, ports, canals, etc.). The targeted applications are the location of divers, fishing traps, drones and measuring instruments. It is shown in the bibliography that for synchronized TDOA measurements (obtained from a reference hydrophone) there are direct estimators of the position. In our approach, the TDOA measurements are provided by two pairs of hydrophones that are not synchronized with each other. In this case it is shown in the bibliography that the estimators of the position are indirect. They require the knowledge of an initial position to converge towards the real position. The aim of this thesis is to propose methods for calculating the initial position. The first contribution of the thesis is to propose an estimator of the 3D position in the case of a static beacon. For each TDOA measurement, the set of possible positions of the beacon is located on a hyperbola. In our approach, we propose to approximate the hyperbola by its two asymptotic lines in order to calculate the initial position. With two TDOA measurements we obtain four possible positions (at the intersections of the asymptotes) which are ambiguous because only one of them corresponds to the position of the beacon.We propose an algorithm and a criterion to be minimized to calculate the 3D position and remove the ambiguity on the initial position. The second contribution of the thesis is to propose an estimator of the dynamic 3D position of an underwater object. In the dynamic case, two TDOA measurements are available, ie four possible initial positions for each position of the boat. It is proposed to classify the initial positions obtained in four sets as the boat moves. The classification is carried out by a data association method and a criterion is proposed to resolve the ambiguity on the four sets of positions. The proposed estimation processis based on four parallel Kalman filters and on the GNN (Global Nearest Neighbor) data association method. The proposed methods have been evaluated in simulation for the positioning of an underwater object in the static and dynamic case. In this simulation we consider a distance between the hydrophones of 2 m. The positioning error is shown to be metric for noise on TDOA measurements of standard deviation 1 cm. The accuracy remains metric for a distance between the tracking system and the beacon of less than 30 m.We show that in the presence of noises on the positioning system (50 cm on the GPS position and 1o on the magnetic compass) the precision remains metric. Finally, it is shown that the proposed estimator is more precise than the direct weighted least squares benchmark estimator., Dans cette thèse on réalise l’étude d’un système de localisation SBL (Short BaseLine) d’une balise émettrice sous-Marine.L’objectif de ce travail est de proposer un dispositif simple et facilement déployable. Le système de localisation est composé de quatre hydrophones positionnés sur un bateau de petite taille. Les hydrophones sont géoréférencés avec un récepteur GPS et un compas magnétique positionnés sur le bateau.La balise fournit au système de positionnement sa profondeur obtenue à l’aide d’un capteur de pression. L’environnement marin considéré est un environnement en eaux peu profondes (la Manche, les ports, les canaux,... ). Les applications visées sont la localisation de plongeurs, de casiers de pêche, de drones et d’instruments de mesure. On montre dans la bibliographie que pour des mesures de TDOA synchronisées (obtenues à partir d’un hydrophone de référence) il existe des estimateurs directs de la position. Dans notre approche les mesures de TDOA sont fournies par deux couples d’hydrophones non-synchronisés entre eux. Dans ce cas on montre dans la bibliographie que les estimateurs de la position sont indirects. Ils nécessitent la connaissance d’une position initiale pour converger vers la position réelle. Le but de cette thèse est de proposer des méthodes de calcul de la position initiale. Le premier apport de la thèse est de proposer un estimateur de la position 3D dans le cas d’une balise statique. Pour chaque mesure de TDOA l’ensemble des positions possibles de la balise se situe sur une hyperbole. Dans notre approche on propose d’approximer l’hyperbole par ses deux droites asymptotes pour calculer la position initiale. Avec deux mesures de TDOA on obtient quatre positions possibles (aux intersections des asymptotes) qui sont ambigües car une seule d’entre-elles correspond à la position de la balise. Nous proposons un algorithme et un critère à minimiser pour calculer la position 3D et lever l’ambiguïté sur la position initiale. Le second apport de la thèse est de proposer un estimateur de la position 3D dynamique d’un objet sous-marin. Dans le cas dynamique on dispose de deux mesures de TDOA, soit quatre positions initiales possibles pour chaque position du bateau. On propose de classer les positions initiales obtenues dans quatre ensembles au fur et à mesure du déplacement du bateau. Le classement est réalisé par une méthode d’association de données et on propose un critère pour lever l’ambiguïté sur les quatre ensembles de positions. Le processus d’estimation proposé s’appuie sur quatre filtres de Kalman parallèles et sur la méthode d’association de données GNN (Global Nearest Neighbor). Les méthodes proposées ont été évaluées en simulation pour le positionnement d’un objet sous-marin dans les cas statique et dynamique. Dans cette simulation on considère une distance entre les hydrophones de 2 m. On montre que l’erreur de positionnement est métrique pour un bruit sur les mesures de TDOA d’écart-type 1 cm. La précision reste métrique pour une distance entre le système de localisation et la balise inférieure à 30 m. On montre qu’en présence de bruits sur le système de positionnement (50 cm sur la position GPS et 1o sur le compas magnétique) la précision reste métrique. Enfin on montre que l’estimateur proposé est plus précis que l’estimateur direct de référence des moindres carrés pondérés.

International audience; Recently, most state-of-the-art anomaly detection methods are based on apparent motion and appearance reconstruction networks and use error estimation between generated and real information as detection features. These approaches achieve promising results by only using normal samples for training steps. In this paper, our contributions are two-fold. On the one hand, we propose a flexible multi-channel framework to generate multi-type frame-level features. On the other hand, we study how it is possible to improve the detection performance by supervised learning. The multi-channel framework is based on four Conditional GANs (CGANs) taking various type of appearance and motion information as input and producing prediction information as output. These CGANs provide a better feature space to represent the distinction between normal and abnormal events. Then, the difference between those generative and ground-truth information is encoded by Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR). We propose to classify those features in a classical supervised scenario by building a small training set with some abnormal samples of the original test set of the dataset. The binary Support Vector Machine (SVM) is applied for frame-level anomaly detection. Finally, we use Mask R-CNN as detector to perform object-centric anomaly localization. Our solution is largely evaluated on Avenue, Ped1, Ped2, and ShanghaiTech datasets. Our experiment results demonstrate that PSNR features combined with supervised SVM are better than error maps computed by previous methods. We achieve state-of-the-art performance for frame-level AUC on Ped1 and ShanghaiTech. Especially, for the most challenging Shanghaitech dataset, a supervised training model outperforms up to 9% the state-of-the-art an unsupervised strategy.

Ils sont souvent utilisés pour accéder à des services ou assurer des fonctions opérationnelles à distance. Cependant, ces réseaux Wi-Fi peuvent être vulnérables et utilisés par des personnes malintentionnées pour perturber les services. Des stratégies de défense doivent être développées pour éviter les abus sur ces réseaux et intercepter les personnes malveillantes. Dans ce contexte, le projet GLOCAT vise à rechercher des moyens de détecter et géo-localiser des sources d'attaque envers ces réseaux de communication sans fil. L'approche repose sur l'analyse continue des signaux électromagnétiques (EM) reçus par une antenne de surveillance et un récepteur collectant les distributions spectrales. Les premiers travaux présentés dans cet article visent à développer un protocole de classification pour distinguer si une source de brouillage intentionnel se situe dans le même espace intérieur que le réseau de communication ou à l'extérieur de l'infrastructure dans laquelle est établie la communication.

Spectrally efficient waveforms have been extensively investigated in the last few years for the upcoming 5G systems. Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) and Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing (GFDM) are two of the best contenders that offer very low out of band emissions. To make better use of the available spectral resources, we propose coupling the 5G waveforms candidates with Cognitive Radio (CR). To perform spectrum sensing, we rely on cyclostationary detection. Although some papers have addressed second order cyclic features of the aforementioned waveforms, they are special cases of the results presented herein. In fact, in the present work, we first derive the explicit theoretical mth order pth conjugate cyclic cumulants of both FBMC and GFDM. Our analysis reveals that FBMC has distinctive cyclostationary properties. GFDM exhibits rich cyclic features as a result of the block filtering, the Cyclic Prefix (CP) insertion and the use of subsymbol guards. The obtained results are then exploited for signal detection purposes. Detection probability of FBMC is the best among the considered waveforms, followed by GFDM, where both outperform OFDM detection, specially if the used CP is low.
