dance movement therapy ,art therapy ,neurorehabilitation ,Medicine (General) ,R5-920 - Abstract
Dance movement therapy is a part of art therapy, which implements dance and movement to improve various aspects of a person’s daily functioning, improving his/her physical and emotional state. Dance therapy is especially applicable in older age, when intense stresses are beyond his/her physical capabilities. Elderly people who dance on the regular basis have better flexibility, postural stability, balance, reaction time and cognitive abilities, compared to people of the same age who do not dance. Published evidence support the positive experience of using dance therapy as a method of rehabilitation in elderly patients and subjects with various neurological and mental disorders. Argentine tango represents a promising tool of art therapy, because it is based on biomechanical schemes of movement that are physiological for the human body, includes an improvisation element that stimulates neuroplasticity, and activates social, cognitive, psychological and communicative abilities of the subject. The use of the “educational dance” approach in teaching allows solving several rehabilitation tasks: adaptation of the subject to the process of perception of new information; learning to realize body in motion and build motion on the basis of biofeedback; achievement of maximum comfort during movement and gain a unique manner of movement that is maximally functional for the subject. The acquired skill of conscious movement can become the foundation for further rehabilitation. Thus, argentine tango may be a useful rehabilitation tool for patients with diseases of the nervous system who need to improve motor skills, balance and coordination, and cognitive and communicative capacity. In addition, the use of argentine tango as a motivational factor in comprehensive rehabilitation programs seems promising. The influence of dance therapy on the mood and quality of life in the elderly requires further study in this population.

This review presents current data on the mechanism of action, selective toxicity, toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics of diacetylmorphine (heroin). Acute diacetylmorphine poisoning is considered under taking into account the developing a critical state, in which the poisoning severity is determined by severe metabolic disorders associated with the progression of hypoxia. The main lifethreatening complications of acute diacetyl morphine poisoning are described including those associated with the nervous system, respiratory, circulatory and urinary systems. Since hypoxia is the principal damaging factor, the the mechanisms of oxygen transport disorders and the pathogenesis of activation of free radical oxidation in acute diacetylmorphine poisoning are discussed. The improvement of intensive care strategy for severe forms of acute diacetylmorphine poisoning by the inclusion of a substrate antihypoxant Reamberin into the list of routine critical care prescriptions is emphesized.

The basic factors influencing the quality of thin films prepared by the spin-coating technique from thermosetting stoichiometric epoxy-amine mixtures have been studied. It has been shown that films 2.5–3.0 nm thick are formed on silicon supports from a 0.025 wt % solution of the stoichiometric mixture of epoxy resin and amine in toluene. Multilayer polymer coatings with thickness up to 40 nm have been prepared from successively deposited partially cured epoxy-amine layers. The thickness of these coatings grows linearly with an increase in the number of layers, while their surface energy decreases. The revealed features may be used for creating multilayer polymer coatings, the properties of which vary along the coating thickness.

The electrophoretic motion of a polyelectrolyte capsule has been considered in a uniform electric field. The capsule carries a uniformly distributed charge and is permeable to ions of different natures. An electrolyte identical to a dispersion medium is located inside the capsule. The flow in the porous layer of the capsule has been described by the Brinkman equations taking into account the effect of electrostatic forces. The distribution of ions in the vicinity of the capsule has been determined, and its electrophoretic mobility has been found in a linear approximation. The mobility of the capsule has been studied as depending on its geometric characteristics, permeability, and charge density. In particular, a complex extremal character of variations in the mobility as depending on the solid phase fraction in the capsule has been revealed at different ratios between the thicknesses of the electrical double layer and the Brinkman filtration layer.

Nonequilibrium processes have been considered on interfaces between media, with one medium being a permeable membrane. The nonequilibrium processes have been described in terms of nonequilibrium thermodynamics combined with the Fokker−Planck kinetic equation. Phenomenological equations derived within the framework of the combined approach have been discussed. It has been shown that the formal use of linear equations of nonequilibrium thermodynamics may be, in some cases, reduced to nonlinear equations for heat and mass transfer through an interface. It has been noted that the asymmetry of transport characteristics of asymmetric membranes may be explained in terms of the derived relations.

The mechanism for the development of osmotic pressure has been discussed. A simple method has been proposed for deriving an expression for osmotic pressure based on molecular-kinetic considerations. The invalidity of frequently used ideas of osmotic pressure as an additional contribution to the pressure of low-molecular-mass solutes, colloidal particles, or polymer molecules has been noted. It has also been indicated that, in some cases, it is more correct to speak about an osmotic reduction rather than an increase in the pressure. In particular, the Raoult law has been shown to be a direct consequence of the Van’t Hoff law for osmotic pressure.

Nonequilibrium processes occurring at interfaces between media one of which is capable of sorbing have been discussed. The entropy production accompanying the passage of a fluid from a bulk phase to the sorbing medium has been determined. It has been shown that temperature and pressure jumps must take place at the interface, which are commonly ignored when describing the transport in membrane systems. The magnitudes of these jumps upon substance transfer through the sorbing media have been determined.

Based on a retrospective analysis, to evaluate technical results and functional outcomes at discharge after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in anterior circulation out of 6-hours «therapeutic window» in patients with stroke. The retrospective analysis of EVT in 594 acute stroke patients (303 male, 291 female, median age 69 years) with the anterior circulation large vessel occlusion was performed. EVT was carried out before 6 hrs in 550, later in 44 patients. Time to artery puncture was defined as a cut point. Patients were included in the study if they met the criterion for 0-6 hours «therapeutic window».No significant differences in functional outcomes at discharge assessed with the Rankin scale (mRs 0-2 29.8% and 20.5%EVT in anterior circulation stroke over 6 hrs «therapeutic window» based on the criterion for 0-6 hrs provides comparable functional outcomes at discharge without the increase in the frequency of intracranial haemorrhages, haemorrhagic and symptomatic haemorrhagic transformations.

The problem of local entropy production in gases flowing through nanosized channels has been discussed. The main attention has been focused on the role of adsorbed layers. It has been shown that the local entropy production differs from that obtained in terms of the classical approach. For example, the transfer in the adsorbed layer influences both the entropy production and the form of phenomenological equations. An additional difference results from the mass and energy exchange between the bulk phase and the adsorbed layer, this exchange being related to nonlinear adsorption isotherms. This exchange is described by independent local phenomenological equations.

The methods of nonequilibrium thermodynamics are used to describe the temperature gradientinduced motion of inclusions and the cross effect in solids occurring in the state of premelting. Inclusion motion is caused by a nonuniform disjoining pressure in thin unfrozen interlayers that are formed at a nonuniformly heated inclusion. The cross effect is related to the generation of a local temperature field upon the inclusion motion under the action of an external force in a uniform solid. It is shown that the Onsager relations are valid for the nonequilibrium processes under consideration.

The problem of the infinite uniform flow of liquid around the spherical drop coated with the porous layer is solved. External liquid permeates into the porous layer but is not mixed with the liquid located in the internal cavity of a capsule. The flow inside the porous layer is described by the Brinkman equation; moreover, the viscosity of the Brinkman medium is assumed to be different than the viscosity of pure liquid. The boundary condition of the jump of tangential stresses at the liquid-porous medium interface is used. Velocity and pressure distributions are found and the hydrodynamic force acting on the capsule is calculated. Different limiting cases are considered.

The flow of viscous liquid in a porous model medium with a fractal structure is considered. The hydrodynamic permeability of a medium is calculated according to the Happel and Brenner cell method using Brinkman equations. An analysis is carried out for boundary conditions on the cell surfaces of four types corresponding to the Happel, Kuwabara, Kvashnin, and Cunningham models. Situations that correspond to the flow of viscous liquid in a porous medium formed by fractal aggregates and the uniform flow of viscous liquid around the single composite particle are analyzed.

The problem of a liquid flow that is uniform at infinity around a spherical porous capsule is solved. The flow in a porous layer is described by the Brinkman equation assuming that the viscosity of the Brinkman medium differs from the viscosity of the liquid flowing around. The tangential stress jump condition is imposed on the porous medium-liquid interface. Velocity and pressure distributions are determined and the hydrodynamic force applied to the capsule is calculated.

An analytical expression has been derived to calculate the temperature in the bulk of a piezoelectric cell and on its surface with allowance made for the distributed heat release. It is experimentally shown that the temperature at the center of actuator exceeds the temperature on its surface by 10–40°C and reaches 50–140°C under specific loads of 50–100 W/cm3. The reason for this is that up to 25–45% of the supplied energy is transformed into heat. It is established that the main cause of actuator failure is electric breakdown and exfoliation of passive ceramic layers.

The laboratory biomarkers can effect on choice of tactics of treatment in patients with atherosclerotic stenosis ofcarotids and high risk of stroke. However, nowadays there is no established laboratory criteria of significant atherosclerotic affection of internal carotid. The purpose of study was to investigate informativeness of biomarkers of atherosclerosis in clinical molecuIar panel of expertise system of determining risk of stroke in patients with significant stenosis of carotid. The study included patients with 50-90% atherosclerotic stenosis of internal carotid in acute period of atherothrombotic stroke or transitory ischemic attack (group 1), patients with stable 50-90% atherosclerotic stenosis of inner carotid having no vascular events during 30 days before engaging into study (group II) and group of healthy volunteers without atherosclerosis of inner carotid. The examination of patients included anamnesis collection, evaluation of neurological status, analysis of serum level of biomarkers of atherosclerosis (lipoprotein-associatedphospholipase A2 (LP-PL A2), serum protein A associated with pregnancy (PA PP-A), lipoprotein (a) (LP(a)), asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), C-reactive protein detected by highly sensitive technique (hsCRP) and lipid spectrum of blood) using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, duplex ultrasound scanning of brachiocephalic arteries. The stroke risk factors of other etiology were chosen as exclusion criteria except atherothrombotic one. The Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied to establish group differences. The Data Mining techniques were applied to establish patterns of analyzing sample. Out of 356 examined patients, 30 patients of group 1, 51 patients of group II and 16 healthy volunteers were included in the study. All patients were comparable by gender and age (50-80 years). The serum level of hsCRP and ADMA in the group of patients of acutest period of ischemic stroke was significantly higher than in groups of patients with stable stenosis and healthy volunteers (p0.05). The comparison between three groups established no statistically significant differences in serum concentration of PAPP-A, LP-PL A2 and LP(a). The ADMA, hsCRP and PAPP-A can be recommended for including into clinical molecular panel for personalized diagnostic of causes of stroke along with clinical anamnestic data. The serum level of ADMA and hsCRP significantly increases in acute period of atherothrombotic stroke. The analysis of levels of ADMA, hsCR and PPAPP-A interpreted with regard to clinical anamnestic data can be proposed for enhancing quality of diagnostic of causes of stroke.

Adsorption of cationic (dodecylpyridinium bromide) and nonionic (Triton X-100) surfactants from their mixed aqueous solutions on a SiO2 surface at pH 3.6, 6.5, and 10 is studied by the UV spectroscopy, capillary zone electrophoresis, and wetting measurements. It is shown that the adsorption of cationic and nonionic surfactants from mixed solutions is accompanied by synergistic effects manifesting themselves as an enhanced adsorption of both surfactants compared to their adsorption from individual solutions. The effect of second component becomes most pronounced under conditions when differences in adsorption abilities of individual surfactants are rather large (at pH 3.6 and 10). It is shown that the adsorption of surfactants from mixed solutions can be controlled by the adsorption ability of components via the variations in solution pH.

Dependences of the surface tension of aqueous solutions of cationic (dodecylpyridinium bromide) and nonionic (Tween 80, Triton X-100) surfactants and their mixtures on total surfactant concentration and solution composition were studied. The values of critical micellization concentration (CMC) and excess free energy of adsorption were determined from tensiometric measurements. Based on Rubingh–Rosen model (approximation of the theory of regular solutions), the compositions of micelles and adsorption layers at the solution–air interface as well as parameters of interaction between the molecules of cationic and nonionic surfactants were calculated for the systems indicated above. It was established that, in the case of surfactant mixtures with considerable difference in the CMCs, the micelles of individual surfactant with lower CMC value are formed. The effect of negative deviation from the ideality during the adsorption of surfactants from mixed solutions at the solution–air interface was disclosed. It was shown that the interaction energy depends significantly on the composition of mixed systems.

The micellization of the mixtures of cationic (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, cetylpyridinium bromide) and nonionic (Triton X-100) surfactants at various content of components in aqueous solutions, as well as the adsorption of surfactants at the air/solution interface were studied. The effect of negative deviation from the ideality was discovered during the formation of mixed micelles and adsorption layers. Various theoretical approaches to the quantitative description of mixed systems were compared within the framework of the model of pseudophase separation. The parameters of intermolecular interaction in mixed micelles and adsorption layers, excess free energies of micellization and adsorption, compositions of micelles and adsorption layers were calculated. It was shown that the use of various theoretical approaches for the analysis of interactions in surfactant mixtures leads to close numerical results. It was shown that the composition of mixed micelles and adsorption layers, as well as the parameters of intermolecular interaction and the excess free energy depend on the relative content and molecular structure of surfactants (mixture components).

To find clinical criteria applied in the first hours of disease for the identification of severe ischemic stroke caused by an occlusion of proximal major arteries. The authors have analyzed 133 medical histories of patients with the diagnosis of acute cerebral blood circulation disorder admitted in the first 6 h from onset. All patients underwent CT-angiography or digital subtraction angiography. Occlusion of the inner carotid artery, occlusion of M1-segment of the middle cerebral artery and occlusion of a major artery were considered as proximal occlusion of major cerebral arteries. Neurological status was assessed by the signs of proximal arterial occlusion (PAO).Checking of 5 PAO symptoms allows the prediction of occlusion location in approximately 80% of cases. Presence of ≥3 out of 5 symptoms is characterized by 70% sensitivity and 90% specificity with regard to the occlusion of the inner carotid artery, M1-segment of the middle cerebral artery and/or a major artery. Predictive value of this model should be verified in a prospective study.

13 cases of uterine carcinosarcomas have been studied by molecular-genetic method. The impairment of some genes (K-RAS gene in the first exon, TP53 in the 5th-9th exons, PTEN in the 5th and 8th exons) has been found out. The loss of heterozygosity of TP53 gene in epithelium and mesenchyme of the uterus has been detected. According to the estimation of impairment the studied tumors was divided into monoclonal and biclonal ones. This stratification could be use as prognostic criteria of uterine carcinosarcomas clinical presentation.

Results of clinico-morphological and immunohistochemical studies of 44 cases of carcinosarcoma of the uterus are presented in an attempt to provide pathogenetic rationale for prognosticators of the disease. Immunohistochemical reactions were used to evaluate the expression of genes and mediators p53 and PTEN and cyclooxigenase (COX-2) in cells of mesenchyme and epithelium of tumor to gauge the influence of either component on its biological behavior. All patients were divided into two groups depending on whether they revealed expression of p53, PTEN and cyclooxigenase or not. The end results--overall survival and complete remission duration--were compared in both groups. No dominance of either component of carcinosarcoma was established.

Arterial hypertension contributes essentially into development of chronic heart failure and chronic ischemia of the brain, which results in social dependence of geriatric patients. One of the important factors in the development of arterial hypertension is the state of lipids peroxidation. Misbalance among the products of lipids peroxidation and components of antioxidation defense system revealed in cardiovascular diseases (mainly in arterial hypertension and heart failure) promotes progress of these diseases and premature aging of an organism. The therapy aimed at normalization of the oxidative profile of the patients with arterial hypertension should include prolonged beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, calcium antagonists, statines and polyvitamin complexes with vitamins A and E.

Surfactant mixtures are commonly used in many industrial applications. At the same time, the methods for surfactant analysis are rather laborious and often do not permit the determination of the individual surfactant content in mixed solutions. In the present work capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) instrumentation was applied for the quantitative analysis of a cationic surfactant (dodecylpyridinium bromide) and a nonionic surfactant (Triton X-100) in aqueous solutions. The linear dependence of the analytical signal (electrophoregram peak area) versus the surfactant concentration was established for both surfactants over a wide concentration range. The analytical signal of an individual surfactant was found to be independent of the addition of the second surface-active component, making it possible to determine the content of surfactants from both solutions of individual surfactants and mixed solutions. The CZE method was shown to be appropriate for the determination of critical micelle concentrations as the intersection point of two straight lines describing the dependence of analytical signal versus surfactant concentration below and above the critical micelle concentration.

The paper covers the problems of diagnosis of germinogenic ovarian tumors in girls, which make up as high as 80% of all malignant ovarian tumors. For timely diagnosis, it is necessary to take into account clinical data, the levels of tumor markers (alpha-fetoprotein, chorionic gonadotropin) and ultrasound findings. This all is rather sufficient to verify the diagnosis of ovarian tumor lesions. Other additional studies are aimed at establishing where the process extends.
