Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus is a predatory gram-negative delta-proteobacteria that preys on other gram-negative bacterial species. With the surge in the cases of Anti-Microbial Resistance and the demand to replace conventional antibiotics, this predatory attribute of B. bacteriovorus has led to a vast number of studies in the last decade alone. These studies demonstrated various aspects of predation and proposed using B. bacteriovorus as an alternative new approach to conventional antibiotics in humans. Here we review the current progress made in this promising new area of research to develop novel antibacterial approaches.

Rumex dentatus L. (Polygonaceae), also known as toothed dock or Aegean dock, is a medicinal plant with a high culinary value in addition to being used as an ethnomedicinal plant. This review focuses on the botanical, nutritional, phytochemical, and pharmacological activities of R. dentatus, as well as the future prospects for systematic investigations into these areas. R. dentatus has been subjected to scientific evaluation, which has confirmed its traditional uses and demonstrated a wide range of biological and pharmacological potentials, including antioxidant, anticancer, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and other biological properties. Phytochemical analyses showed the presence of anthraquinones, chromones, flavonoids, and essential oils. As a result of this current review, the medicinal significance of R. dentatus has been confirmed, and future research on its unexplored aspects, such as the identification of pharmacologically active chemical constituents and related mechanisms and safety, may be stimulated, with the goal of developing it into a drug.

Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum causes syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease that infects more than 2.1 million pregnant women every year. Due to its maximum death rates and augmented risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, the disease is still a matter of debate in many low- and high-income countries. The infection has three stages that lead to several complications if left untreated and can lead to many tertiary complications in the brain, eyes, ears, heart, and pregnancy. Neurosyphilis is also known as the clinical result of infection of the central nervous system by Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum. It can evolve at any time and from any stage of syphilis exposure. This review briefly explains the severe and multiple neurosyphilitic complications and recently identified cases related to neurosyphilis. We also explained computational neuroscience, neuroinformatics, and in silico models and techniques based on artificial intelligence and other computational and mathematical methods. These techniques have already been applied to several neurological and psychological brain complications and can be applied to neurosyphilis to better understand the persistence of the disease related to the brain that causes neurosyphilis.

The diagnosis of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has gained the spotlight of the world's scientific community since December 2019 and it remains an important issue due to the emergence of novel variants around the globe. Early diagnosis of coronavirus is captious to prevent and hard to control. This pandemic can be eradicated by implementing suppressing strategies which can lead to better outcomes and more lives being saved. Therefore, the analysis showed that COVID-19 can only be managed by adopting public health measures, such as testing, isolation and social distancing. Much work has been done to diagnose coronavirus. Various testing technologies have been developed, opted and modified for rapid and accurate detection. The advanced molecular diagnosis relies on the detection of SARS-CoV-2 as it has been considered the main causative agent of this pandemic. Studies have shown that several molecular tests are considered essential for the confirmation of coronavirus infection. Various serology-based tests are also used in the detection and diagnosis of coronavirus including point-of-care assays and high-throughput enzyme immunoassays that aid in the diagnosis of COVID-19. Both these assays are time-consuming and have less diagnostic accuracy. Nanotechnology has the potential to develop new strategies to combat COVID-19 by developing diagnostics and therapeutics. In this review, we have focused on the nanotechnology-based detection techniques including nanoparticles and biosensors to obstruct the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

The hyperglycemic condition due to diabetes could be managed through retardation of the carbohydrate metabolism by inhibiting the enzymes involved in its degradation. Currently available therapeutic drugs for diabetes as inhibitors of α-glucosidase have limitations on safety, efficacy, and potency. Terpenes have been traditionally used for the treatment of different ailments in humans. Pharmacological activities related to different types of terpenes include antiviral, anticancer, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, and antidiabetic among others. This study is aimed to unravel the novel antidiabetic plant-derived terpenes as α-glucosidase inhibitors and to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying this activity. To determine the binding affinity of the plant-derived terpenes with the α-glucosidase target enzyme, an in-house library of 86 terpenes was created after a thorough search of the literature. The terpenes were virtually screened against the receptor protein by performing molecular docking via MOE software package. The binding affinity of the selected compounds was confirmed through molecular dynamic simulation studies. Further, pharmacophore studies, drug-likeness, and ADMET analysis of the top scoring terpenes were also performed. The docking score, drug-likeness assessment, pharmacokinetics analysis, and pharmacophore studies revealed that three compounds namely Gypsogenin -O-α-D-galactopyranosyl-(1-6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-6)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-3)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester, Segetalic acid and 22-α hydroxychiisanoside are effective inhibitors of α-glucosidase enzyme compared to the standard inhibitors. These findings showed that plant derived terpenes are potential α-glucosidase inhibitors and need to be explored through modern techniques for the development of effective plant-based antidiabetic drugs.

Over the past decade, three-dimensional printing (3DP) has gained popularity among the public and the scientific community in a variety of disciplines, including engineering, medicine, manufacturing arts, and, more recently, education. The advantage of this technology is that it is capable of designing and printing almost any object shape using various materials such as ceramics, polymers, metals and bio.inks. This has further favored the use of this technology for biomedical applications in both clinical and research settings. In biomedicine, there has been a remarkable development of a variety of biomaterials, which in turn has accelerated the significant role of this technology as synthetic scaffolds in various forms such as scaffolds, constructs or matrices. In this chapter, we would like to review the trailblazing literature on the application of 3DP technology in biomedical engineering. This chapter focuses on various 3DP techniques and biomaterials for tissue engineering applications (TE). 3DP technology has a variety of applications in biomedicine and TE (B- TE). Customized structures for B- TE applications using 3DP have several advantages, e.g., they are easy to fabricate and are inexpensive. On the other hand, conventional technologies, which are costly, time-consuming, and labor intensive, are generally not compatible with 3DP. Therefore, the capabilities of 3DP, which is a novel fabrication technology, need to be explored for many other potential applications. Here, we provide a comprehensive overview of the different types of 3DP technologies and how they can potentially be used.

Over the past decades, nanomedicine, the medical application of nanotechnology, has been extensively investigated as a promising approach in treating different inflammatory disorders and conditions. Nanomedicine provides a wide range of engineered nanomaterials, such as polymeric nanoparticles (NPs), lipid-based NPs, liposomes, silica NPs, metallic NPs, etc. Nanomaterial-based drug delivery systems exhibit multiple advantages such as the ability to pass through different physiological barriers within the body and specifically deliver drugs to the required sites without affecting healthy cells and tissues. Enormous amounts of in-vitro and in-vivo researches were previously conducted by many research groups to validate the positive contribution that nanomedicine has regarding the treatment of inflammation and its associated illnesses. The scope of this review paper is to overview the current status of using nanomaterials in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, with an emphasis on asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, gout and atherosclerosis. The future prospects of using nanomaterials for inflammatory diseases were also briefly discussed.

Triclosan (TCS), a synthetic antimicrobial, has been incorporated into a variety of personal care products worldwide. Since 2016, upon the recommendation of World Health Organization (WHO), the use of TCS-containing sutures (TCSCS) to prevent surgical site infections (SSI) has become a common practice. However, TCS is a subject of environmental and public health concern and has been ranked as a chemical of serious concern to be avoided based on GreenScreen® hazard assessment. Recent reports on the efficacy of TCSCS to prevent SSI have revealed conflicting results. Here, we aim to highlight and discuss various safety and antimicrobial resistance concerns associated with the generalized use of TCSCS. Further, we emphasize that the long-term health benefits must be evaluated before the incorporation of TCS into surgical sutures.

Bone healing and formation are under the control of growth factors. Among these factors, bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) have a vital role in bone and cartilage maintenance and formation. BMP itself belongs to the superfamily of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ). Although, the use of recombinant BMPs has no significant association with the treatment of bone fractures, arthroplasty, pseudoarthrosis or other bone-related diseases. Recent advancements in genetic engineering have led to the foundation of gene therapy. Gene therapy uses genes to be incorporated in the living cells to replace defective genes or manipulate gene expression for therapeutic purposes. Gene therapy is emerging for the treatment of diseases with approval in Europe where it is in the marketing surveillance phase (Phase IV Clinical trial). This technique has also been tested for the incorporation of osteogenic genes in stem cells for repairing spinal fusion and recovering defects in bones in preclinical models. Therefore, gene therapy has the potential for the treatment of different diseases and has the advantage over the use of recombinant proteins. In this chapter, we have discussed gene therapy, its mechanism, delivery system and its use in tissue engineering (soft and bone tissue) for clinical application

Clostridium botulinum is Gram-positive anaerobic spore-forming bacterium that produces very potent neurotoxins that have a potential to be used as bioweapon. In this study, we utilized applications of pan genome to develop drug targets for 51 strains of Clostridium botulinum. From the total 8756 core proteins, there were 422 non-host homologous proteins from which we selected 7 essential proteins by applying 2 thresholds that are identity > 35 and e-value = 0.001. These 7 proteins were selected as drug targets and docked against 105 anti-bacterial compounds. After docking, against each protein, top 10 compounds were selected based on the binding affinity and number of interactions and from these 10 compounds, the most promising compound was ranked on top for all target proteins. Furthermore, we also identified some compounds that have shown highest binding energies with more than one protein. From the 105 anti-bacterial compounds, we got 39 compounds on the basis of their binding energies with all target proteins. These compounds can be further validated by in vitro analysis and can proceed for clinical trials.

Background: Obesity is an emerging pandemic considered to be an outcome of change in lifestyle owing to more processed food and the use of mechanical locomotives. Obesity has not only appeared as a problem in the esthetic appearance of an individual rather is a serious health issue due to its associations with various chronic diseases such as coronary and cardiovascular problems, hypertension, osteoarthritis, type-II diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and certain cancers. It is estimated that 30 percent of the world’s population, i.e. approximately 2.1 billion people, are victims of obesity. In addition to environmental causes, various genes and a group of genes are reported to be increasing the suceptibility of obesity. Objective: Pakistan is a heterogeneous population, an amalgam of various races, therefore, narrowing down the list of obesity-associated genes and their functional variance could help molecular biologists to select potential SNPs in the Pakistani population for molecular diagnosis and treatment. Method: The extraction of a set of obesity-associated genes has been performed by using Polysearch2. SNPs for each gene are retrieved from dbSNP. RegulomeDB and SNPinfo tools have been used for the functional analysis of SNPs retrieved against the Pakistani population. For the prediction of potential deleterious SNPs, SIFT, Polyphen-2, MUTTASTER, MUTASSESSOR, and LRT (likelihood ratio test) are utilized. Functional analysis of potential deleterious SNPs has been performed by studying protein stability and mapping of identified SNPs to protein structure. For the protein stability analysis, I-Mutant and SNPs3D have been used. Results: Four genes FTO, POMC, LEPR, and MC4R and further analysis revealed 3 deleterious SNPs in FTO, 4 in POMC, 1 in LEPR, and 1 in MC4R. Conclusion: This research was designed to identify obesity-associated genes and the most impactful deleterious SNPs in these genes. These findings will be helpful for the molecular biologists and pharmacists to design better and focused diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Zika virus (ZIKV) is one of the mosquito borne flavivirus with several outbreaks in past few years in tropical and subtropical regions. The non-structural proteins of flaviviruses are suitable active targets for inhibitory drugs due to their role in pathogenicity. In ZIKV, the non-structural protein 5 (NS5) RNA-Dependent RNA polymerase replicates its genome. Here we have performed virtual screening to identify suitable ligands that can potentially halt the ZIKV NS5 RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). During this process, we searched and screened a library of ligands against ZIKV NS5 RdRp. The selected ligands with significant binding energy and ligand-receptor interactions were further processed. Among the selected docked conformations, top five was further optimized at atomic level using molecular dynamic simulations followed by binding free energy calculations. The interactions of ligands with the target structure of ZIKV RdRp revealed that they form strong bonds within the active sites of the receptor molecule. The efficacy of these drugs against ZIKV can be further analyzed through in-vitro and in-vivo studies.

Background Spirochetal organisms of the Treponema genus are responsible for causing Treponematoses. Pathogenic treponemes is a Gram-negative, motile, spirochete pathogen that causes syphilis in human. Treponema pallidum subsp. endemicum (TEN) causes endemic syphilis (bejel); T. pallidum subsp. pallidum (TPA) causes venereal syphilis; T. pallidum subsp. pertenue (TPE) causes yaws; and T. pallidum subsp. Ccarateum causes pinta. Out of these four high morbidity diseases, venereal syphilis is mediated by sexual contact; the other three diseases are transmitted by close personal contact. The global distribution of syphilis is alarming and there is an increasing need of proper treatment and preventive measures. Unfortunately, effective measures are limited. Results Here, the genome sequences of 53 T. pallidum strains isolated from different parts of the world and a diverse range of hosts were comparatively analysed using pan-genomic strategy. Phylogenomic, pan-genomic, core genomic and singleton analysis disclosed the close connection among all strains of the pathogen T. pallidum, its clonal behaviour and showed increases in the sizes of the pan-genome. Based on the genome plasticity analysis of the subsets containing the subspecies T pallidum subsp. pallidum, T. pallidum subsp. endemicum and T. pallidum subsp. pertenue, we found differences in the presence/absence of pathogenicity islands (PAIs) and genomic islands (GIs) on subsp.-based study. Conclusions In summary, we identified four pathogenicity islands (PAIs), eight genomic islands (GIs) in subsp. pallidum, whereas subsp. endemicum has three PAIs and seven GIs and subsp. pertenue harbours three PAIs and eight GIs. Concerning the presence of genes in PAIs and GIs, we found some genes related to lipid and amino acid biosynthesis that were only present in the subsp. of T. pallidum, compared to T. pallidum subsp. endemicum and T. pallidum subsp. pertenue.

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is a tick-borne viral infection with no licensed vaccine or therapeutics available for its treatment. In the present study we have developed the first multi-epitope subunit vaccine effective against all the seven genotypes of CCHF virus (CCHFV). The vaccine contains five B-cell, two MHC-II (HTL), and three MHC-I (CTL) epitopes screened from two structural glycoproteins (Gc and Gn in M segment) of CCHFV with an N-terminus human β-defensin as an adjuvant, as well as an N-terminus EAAAK sequence. The epitopes were rigorously investigated for their antigenicity, allergenicity, IFN gamma induction, anti-inflammatory responses, stability, and toxicity. The three-dimensional structure of the vaccine was predicted and docked with TLR-3, TLR-8, and TLR-9 receptors to find the strength of the binding complexes via molecular dynamics simulation. After codon adaptation, the subunit vaccine construct was developed in a pDual-GC plasmid and has population coverage of 98.47% of the world's population (HLA-III combined). The immune simulation studies were carried out on the C-ImmSim in-silico interface showing a marked increase in the production of cellular and humoral response (B-cell and T-cell) as well as TGFβ, IL-2, IL-10, and IL-12 indicating that the proposed vaccine would be able to sufficiently provoke both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. Thus, making it a new and promising vaccine candidate against CCHFV.

Dengue virus (DENV) is an arbovirus that belongs to family flaviviridae. Its genome is composed of a single stranded RNA molecule that encodes a single polyprotein. The polyprotein is processed by viral and cellular proteases to generate ten viral proteins. There are four antigenically distinct serotypes of DENV (DENV1, DENV2, DENV3 and DENV4), which are genetically related. Although protein variability is a major problem in dengue treatment, the functional and structural studies of individual proteins are equally important in treatment development. The data accumulated on dengue proteins are significant to provide detailed understanding of viral infection, replication, host-immune evasion and pathogenesis. In this review, we summarized the detailed current knowledge about DENV proteins.

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Vibrio cholerae, and pathogenic Escherichia coli are global concerns for public health. The emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains of these pathogens is creating additional challenges in controlling infections caused by these deadly bacteria. Recently, we reported that Acetate kinase (AcK) could be a broad-spectrum novel target in several bacteria including these pathogens. Methods: Here, using in silico and in vitro approaches we show that (i) AcK is an essential protein in pathogenic bacteria; (ii) natural compounds Chlorogenic acid and Pinoresinol from Piper betel and Piperidine derivative compound 6-oxopiperidine-3-carboxylic acid inhibit the growth of pathogenic E. coli and M. tuberculosis by targeting AcK with equal or higher efficacy than the currently used antibiotics; (iii) molecular modeling and docking studies show interactions between inhibitors and AcK that correlate with the experimental results; (iv) these compounds are highly effective even on MDR strains of these pathogens; (v) further, the compounds may also target bacterial two-component system proteins that help bacteria in expressing the genes related to drug resistance and virulence; and (vi) finally, all the tested compounds are predicted to have drug-like properties. Results and Conclusion: Suggesting that, these Piper betel derived compounds may be further tested for developing a novel class of broad-spectrum drugs against various common and MDR pathogens.

In the current research work we have reported a series of N -aryl - 2,3-dihydrobenzo[1,4]dioxine-6-sulfonamides 3 and their N -substituted derivatives 6 and 7 , obtained from 3 with benzyl chloride and ethyl iodide, respectively. The synthesis was accomplished as a multistep sequence. The structural confirmations were established by 1 H NMR, IR and EIMS spectral techniques. Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and lipoxygenase (LOX) enzymes were used in this study. It was observed that most of the compounds prepared exhibit a moderate activity against BChE and AChE but promisingly good activity against lipoxygenase. Among the parent sulfonamides 3a , 3b , 3c and 3e showed the proficient antimicrobial activities, while from the derivatives 6a , 6c , 7a , 7b and 7c were found active against the selected panel of bacterial and fungal species. Hemolytic activity was also conducted to check their therapeutic utility. All the compounds were computationally docked against LOX, BChE and AChE enzymes.

Background Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis are gram-positive bacterial pathogens and the causative agents of leprosy in humans across the world. The elimination of leprosy cannot be achieved by multidrug therapy alone, and highlights the need for new tools and drugs to prevent the emergence of new resistant strains. Methods In this study, our contribution includes the prediction of vaccine targets and new putative drugs against leprosy, using reverse vaccinology and subtractive genomics. Six strains of Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis (4 and 2 strains, respectively) were used for comparison taking Mycobacterium leprae strain TN as the reference genome. Briefly, we used a combined reverse vaccinology and subtractive genomics approach. Results As a result, we identified 12 common putative antigenic proteins as vaccine targets and three common drug targets against Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis. Furthermore, the docking analysis using 28 natural compounds with three drug targets was done. Conclusions The bis-naphthoquinone compound Diospyrin (CID 308140) obtained from indigenous plant Diospyros spp. showed the most favored binding affinity against predicted drug targets, which can be a candidate therapeutic target in the future against leprosy.

Hepatitis C is affecting millions of people around the globe annually, which leads to death in very high numbers. After many years of research, hepatitis C virus (HCV) remains a serious threat to the human population and needs proper management. The in silico approach in the drug discovery process is an efficient method in identifying inhibitors for various diseases. In our study, the interaction between Epigallocatechin-3-gallate, a component of green tea, and envelope glycoprotein E2 of HCV is evaluated. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate is the most promising polyphenol approved through cell culture analysis that can inhibit the entry of HCV. Therefore, various in silico techniques have been employed to find out other potential inhibitors that can behave as EGCG. Thus, the homology modelling of E2 protein was performed. The potential lead molecules were predicted using ligand-based as well as structure-based virtual screening methods. The compounds obtained were then screened through PyRx. The drugs obtained were ranked based on their binding affinities. Furthermore, the docking of the topmost drugs was performed by AutoDock Vina, while its 2D interactions were plotted in LigPlot+. The lead compound mms02387687 (2-[[5-[(4-ethylphenoxy) methyl]-4-prop-2-enyl-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl] sulfanyl]-N-[3(trifluoromethyl) phenyl] acetamide) was ranked on top, and we believe it can serve as a drug against HCV in the future, owing to experimental validation.

The death toll and the total number of infected individuals due to the ongoing pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 infection have exceeded that of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) as the disease has raged around the world. So far the global efforts to tackle COVID-19 include the launch of Sputnik V vaccine by Russia, 42 vaccines presently undergoing clinical trials on humans and around 92 vaccines under preclinical active investigation in animals. Majority of the SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals have been reported to show mild symptoms whereas a considerable number show no symptoms at all. SARS-CoV-2 is believed to spread from infected individuals who are asymptomatic in addition to the symptomatic individuals. In this review we discussed how the mildly infected and asymptomatic individuals raise serious concerns and complicate the processes of screening, detection, quarantine, tracking and treatmentthatareinpracticetopreventthetransmissionofthe COVID-19.

With the development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, genome sequencing process has become cheaper and faster, making it possible the use of the technology in daily routine and, as a result, the number of registered genome projects is increasing rapidly. The pan-omics approaches have been applied for comparison of several genomes in a multipronged strategy. The pan-genome is composed of the core genome, shared genome, and singleton subsets, where the core genome is composed of all the commonly shared genes by all strains of the species; shared genome contains genes that are present in two or more, but not all strains from a species; and the singletons are strain-specific genes. The subsets from pan-transcriptomics and pan-proteomics may be classified in the same way. The concept of pan-genomics is so deep that it has been perfectly applied in the studies of several organisms and diseases. It has great potential which may bring a closer understanding and combating with prokaryotic and eukaryotic diseases. In this chapter, we review the concepts of omics, pan-omics, and the areas of applications of these methods.

The coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is a global pandemic of the twenty-first century and currently fourthwave is creating fear and panic worldwide. It is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-COV-2), a highly contagious viral infection of humans. The COVID-19 can be spread mainly throughrespiratory droplet particles and in contact with a COVID-19 infected person. Clinical manifestation of COVID-19patients includes cough, fever, diarrhea, loss of taste and smell. In critical cases of COVID-19, the developmentof pneumonia and dyspnea leads to acute respiratory distress syndrome that may cause the death of thepatient. It is well established that Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors on alveolar cells act as anentry gate for the SARS-COV-2. However, ACE2 is also highly expressed in multiple extrapulmonary vital organssuch as the gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular system, kidney, etc. Therefore, the direct viral entry in theseorgans can be a likely pathway of injury. In addition, decoupling of immune responses leads to the cytokinesstorm, which might contribute to the injury of extrapulmonary organs. In this review, we report the multipleorgan pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of COVID-19 patients, which could aid clinicians and researchersin prioritizing therapeutics remedies and developing research for all vital body systems involved.

The Aquifoliaceae is an important family and has been used traditionally for some time. One of the members of this family is the Ilex dipyrena wall, which itself possesses a potential medicinal importance. This plant is traditionally used for the treatment of various ailments including pain, swelling, burns, and fever. The current study was designed to screen out the antioxidant and analgesic potential of this plant and to verify its traditional uses, along with its phytochemical profile. Extracts were subjected to antioxidant, analgesic, and phytochemical analysis using DPPH, chemical-induced (acetic acid and formalin) nociception models and GC-MS analysis, respectively. The leaf, bark, and fruit extracts showed significant antioxidant activity compared to that of standard. Likewise, all the extracts demonstrated significant (p &lt, 0.01) analgesic activity in a mice model. In acetic acid induced analgesia, the leaf, bark, and fruit extracts caused 51.64, 56.13 and 59.52% inhibition, respectively at a dose of 100 mg/kg while at 200 mg/kg it showed 83.01, 71.69 and 75.47% inhibition, respectively. In Formalin-induced paw-licking assay, fruit extract showed 59.42 and 64.19% inhibition at 200 mg/kg dose in the first and second phase, respectively. The GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of cathinone, phenylpropanolamine, dl-phenylephrine, amphetamine, myristic acid, and palmitic acid. Results of the study suggest that crude extracts from different parts of this plant may be a useful source for the development of novel analgesics. However, further investigation in terms of isolation of bioactive compounds and their toxicological evaluations are needed to validate the observed results.
