This study aimed to determine students' ability to practice carbon steel welding. Students' ability in welding is an essential factor in obtaining good welding results and as a provision in obtaining certification. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this study consisted of 40 students from the mechanical engineering education study program at the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University. The research instrument uses a Likert scale with four alternative answers. Data acquisition was analyzed using the quantitative description. The results showed that: (1) the preparation of seam welding by most of the students was still in the good category, (2) the seam welding process by most of the students was still low; and (3) the welding results of most of the students are still sufficient. Wheelchairs are a basic need for people with disabilities, especially people with physical disabilities. Although conventional wheelchairs have helped the mobility of people with disabilities, they are in short range due to biological fatigue factors. In the concept of inclusion, there is equality in various aspects of life so that everyone can live together and equally without exception, including people with disabilities. Thus, technology development is needed to help people with disabilities to achieve equality in mobility, especially when using wheelchairs. This can be achieved by developing manual wheelchairs into electric wheelchairs (Electric wheelchairs), with the addition of electric motors for drive and other supporting features. The study aimed to establish the features and specifications of IoT-based electric motors in wheelchairs for the convenience and comfort of mobility of people with disabilities—development based on the results of last year's research. The research method used is the Research &Development method. The research and development results show that the power transfer mechanism for wheelchair electric motors uses two pulleys. The drive mechanism using Pulley and Belt is suitable for low torque and speed use. Because the speed of the electric motor for this wheelchair will be limited to a maximum of 6-12 km/hour, with the aim of safety. The pulleys used use Aluminum material. The drive pulley that gets power from the motor is made smaller than the driven pulley that is placed on the wheel axle of the wheelchair. This research aims to determine the differences in student achievement in Manufacturing Drawing Engineering by applying handouts and video learning media. This research approach uses a quasi-experimental method of non-equivalent control group design. The topics in the study were students of class XII in Mechanical Engineering at the Muhammadiyah Prambanan Vocational High School, which were divided into two research groups. The first experimental group applied handout learning media in class XII TPA and the second experimental group applied video learning media in class XII TPC. The data collection technique used was a multiple-choice test before treatment (pre-test) and after treatment (post-test). The results of data analysis showed that the increase in learning outcomes based on the difficulties that had been carried out in the first experimental group was 20.73. As for the increase in learning outcomes in the second experimental group, that is equal to 23.82. This research shows an increase in learning achievement using video learning media which is slightly better than using handout media. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research reveals the results of welding carbon steel with SMAW position 3G in the Diploma IV Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The welding results of students were tested using the Liquid Penetrant Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing methods by ASME standards. This research uses quantitative descriptive research to explain the facts. The sample used is the workpieces of student practice, totalling 25 workpieces. The results of this study explain that there are still many defects in student workpieces that result in not passing the welding results when tested using Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle methods with ASME standards. Most defects are found on the surface of the workpiece, such as cracks, porosity, undercuts, lack of penetration. Welding defects found in the practice results indicate that students' experience, knowledge, and competence in welding are still low and need improvement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyzes the need for IoT-based portable electric wheelchairs to increase the independence of physical disabilities. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method approach to obtain an accurate picture of the need for wheelchairs for people with physical disabilities. The collection of samples using the purposive sampling technique, where the selection has been determined based on the researcher's consideration. The number of models used is 49 people with disabilities who are on the island of Java. The research instrument used a Guttman scale questionnaire with two intervals. The results showed that people with disabilities need to be adjusted to the type of activity to feel safe and comfortable. Electric wheelchairs Internet of Things (IoT)-based has several modifications required for people with disabilities, including the joystick's location, steering features, braking system, and ease of disassembly (portable). Meanwhile, the Internet of Things (IoT) based wheelchair mechanism needs to add indicators of location conditions, speed, battery, security system, and mobility device recorder. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
