O rápido processo de urbanização tem causado drásticas mudanças no uso do solo em espaços urbanos. Em consequência deste processo tem-se observado o aumento das temperaturas no interior das cidades – as ilhas de calor urbano. Assim, a procura de soluções no mitigar deste aumento das temperaturas passa pela implementação de espaços verdes e azuis, uma vez que estes têm uma grande importância na amenização das temperaturas e na qualidade de vida do cidadão. É neste sentido que se desenvolve o artigo, com o objetivo de compreender o contributo dos espaços verdes e azuis no planeamento urbano, tendo por base uma gestão territorial mais sustentável e resiliente às alterações climáticas. Através da utilização de data loggers realizou-se o levantamento de dados de temperaturas, com intuito de comparar três diferentes estações do ano (inverno, primavera e verão), e três momentos do dia (manhã, tarde e noite). Desta forma, foram selecionados quatro espaços verdes nas margens do plano de água do Mondego na cidade de Coimbra - Parque Verde do Mondego (margem esquerda e direita); Parque Dr. Manuel Braga; e Parque da Canção, bem como o próprio lençol de água. Os resultados revelam a influência da vegetação e do espaço azul na amenização do clima urbano, verificando-se diferentes temperaturas entre os espaços verdes (habitualmente com temperaturas mais frescas) e espaços com pouca vegetação – Parque da Canção -, assim como se constata o papel do arbóreo caducifólio na regulação térmica deste setor da cidade. No lençol aquático, verifica-se, em vários momentos do dia, a influência das infraestruturas envolventes (parede de betão), fazendo com que o setor a jusante registe assim temperaturas mais elevadas do que a montante. É ainda visível a influência que este possui na amenização das temperaturas nas suas margens.

O presente artigo visa compreender o papel dos parques urbanos para a sustentabilidade, e sua contribuição para o incremento da qualidade de vida nas cidades. Apresenta um conjunto de indicadores para uma análise multifatorial da sustentabilidade dos parques, tendo por caso empírico o Parque da Aclimação, São Paulo. Os parques urbanos interagem com o ambiente em que se inserem, impactando em sua sustentabilidade, - entendida como um complexo conjunto de elementos, processos e sistemas que modificam, por meio de ação antrópica, os espaços públicos e áreas verdes. Tais parques desempenham um importante papel como áreas livres contra a escassez destes espaços, e sua massa vegetada, seus elementos hídricos e equipamentos e conexões ecológicas podem ser induzidos e manejados por planos e projetos, fundamentados por indicadores específicos, a fim de enfrentar a devastação ambiental recorrente e os efeitos das mudanças climáticas, oferecendo solo permeável, sombra e microclimas. A metodologia do artigo se pauta por uma análise orientada por um conjunto de indicadores elaborados, aplicados ao Parque da Aclimação, contextualizando sua inserção no ambiente geofísico e hídrico, em seu entorno urbano. Para a análise, foram agrupadas dez categorias de indicadores baseadas nas pesquisas de Leite e Tello (2011), nos parâmetros criados pelo Programa Cidades Sustentáveis (PCS, 2021) e City Prosperity Index (CPI, 2015) da ONU, e o relatório Sustainable Cities Index da Arcadis Internacional (2016).

This article aims to configure a matrix to determine the selection of Low Impact Development (LID) techniques that enable the analysis of sustainable LID measures for sustainable urban drainage and environmental quality in cities. Aiming to achieve the objective, this article involved three steps: (1) the method of systematic literature review was used to identify the key attributes according to the sustainability measures found in the conceptual framework; (2) analysis of key attributes and performance of LID techniques, with a view to identifying possible techniques that present aspects that promote them to the category of sustainable applications to mitigate the impacts of impervious surfaces and urban flooding. And, finally, in the third stage (3) the research sought to evaluate the qualitative characteristics of LID techniques through their use in urbanized and consolidated areas in cities. Therefore, this research aims to support sustainable city applications by evaluating LIDs techniques effectiveness in urban planning, offering insights on its role in managing urban drainage. As atividades humanas, combinadas à ausência de planejamento urbano, degradam a qualidade de vida e o senso de segurança das pessoas. Contudo, quais aspectos específicos do ambiente urbano estão ligados à percepção de risco de desastres naturais? Por meio da abordagem do método Survey, o estudo coletou informações de uma amostra de 279 proprietários, selecionada de forma não probabilística por conveniência. Foram examinadas as correlações entre as percepções subjetivas de risco de desastres naturais e a satisfação com a moradia e com o entorno. Além disso, o artigo investigou como o perfil socioeconômico da amostra se relaciona com a percepção de risco de desastres naturais. Os resultados indicaram que a preocupação com eventos ambientais adversos influencia negativamente a satisfação. No contexto habitacional, características como os materiais da fachada, a iluminação e a segurança mostraram uma relação inversa com a percepção de risco. Da mesma forma, elementos do ambiente urbano, como abastecimento de água e saneamento, acesso à internet e à telefonia, e limpeza das vias públicas e das calçadas revelaram uma correlação negativa. Portanto, a qualidade da infraestrutura nos bairros interfere na maneira como os residentes percebem sua proteção contra possíveis desastres naturais no ambiente urbano.

This article examines environmental conflicts that explain situations of environmental injustice and suffering and their relationship with spatial planning practices in Bogotá-region, Colombia. Based on different qualitative sources, environmental conflict cases are analyzed, as speculative or for-profit urban development, extractive activities of construction materials or the impact of waste landfills in areas of social and ecological relevance. We invite to rethink spatial and land use planning practices as a collective political task that aims at more democratic practices, not only as planners' duty. Likewise, we advanced in understanding the dialectic between conflicts and spatial planning in a context of high complexity and biodiversity. Here it is key to recalibrate how an environmental conflict is understood and assume it as a multi-scalar process, territorially inscribed and crossed by socioecological inequalities. Scholars have shown that the number of cars, and car use will grow as socioeconomic conditions improve in Latin America. This situation will threaten sustainability in the main cities of the region. This article investigates daily car use determinants for people with access to cars. Urban sustainability would not be so endangered if people with access to cars forego such vehicles for commuting. The article resort to the Population and Housing Census 2020 in Mexico to research how heads of households with access to cars commute in a daily basis. It is discovered that low socio-economic status increases the likelihood of not using the family car for commuting, along with environmental awareness, particularly for affluent heads of households. Therefore, it can be assumed that environmental awareness could refrain car use once national and domestic economies improve in Latin America. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the rapid expansion of urban development, it is important to comprehend the relationship between wildlife and urban habitats. Thus, the present study aimed to: (a) describe which structural habitat classes are most commonly used in urban green areas, (b) test whether the effect of seasonality is capable of influencing birds in the patterns of use of different common structural elements in urban and green areas. Birds were sampled per season in three green areas located in the municipalities of União da Vitória (PR) and Porto União (SC), in southern Brazil. The abundance of individuals utilizing four structural classes in the habitat was quantified: (a) trees, (b) ground, (c) aerial space, and (d) artificial structures. At the end of the sampling, 69 species were recorded across the three sampled areas, totaling 4,849 records. Among the four structural classes, the highest abundance was observed in the trees class (n = 2989; 62%). Ground was the second most utilized structure among all squares (n = 1,348; 28%). Moreover, there is an increase in the intensity of the usage of these structures during summer. Finally, the squares present in urban environments are of great importance, particularly concerning the composition of urban green areas for the persistence of avifauna communities in fragmented habitats. Resumo Este texto objetiva analisar o desenvolvimento da política ambiental urbana do município de Vila Velha-ES nos dois mandatos de gestão municipal entre 2009 e 2016. Busca, assim, verificar de que forma o município situado na Região Metropolitana da Grande Vitória-RMGV ocupa sua agenda política ambiental urbana numa ótica de sustentabilidade urbana com elementos de justiça ambiental e ecologia política, baseado no debate de racionalidade ambiental ecocêntrica. Tal análise se perfaz nos dois planos de gestão municipal e em entrevistas com autoridades que ocuparam cargos de relevância em Vila Velha-ES, para verificar a preocupação quanto àa maneira como a administração pública trata a ocupação desordenada do território e os conflitos sociais na distribuição dos impactos da degradação ambiental em seu ambiente urbano.

Urbanization has resulted, for many years, several impacts, not only on the environment, but also on people's lives. Currently, concerns about environmental issues and sustainability have led society to pay more attention to these themes. The use of indicators to assess urban sustainability, quality of urban life, urban environmental quality and urban metabolism is essential for decision-making, and the choice of them must occur carefully for a reliable result. For these reasons, the article aimed to develop and employ procedures for the selection and analysis of indicators, in order to define and propose sustainability indicators for application in the context of planning and environmental management of cities in the conception of urban metabolism (from the perspective of environmental quality and quality of urban life). The research comprised two main methodological steps: the elaboration of the Indicator Analysis Procedure – PAI; and application of the PAI in the selection and proposition of sustainability indicators in the context of environmental planning and management of cities. As a result, the article generated an indicator analysis procedure, containing 10 evaluation criteria, which classify the indicators as high, medium or low ability to use. Two tables were also generated containing the principles of quality of life and urban metabolism, which were used for the application of the PAI in the indicator’s selection. The selected and proposed indicators are divided into 17 categories of analysis. The suggested indicators and the procedure (PAI) can be used by managers, public administration agents and will make it possible to subsidize decision-making and the implementation of urban and environmental policies.

Purpose: To investigate the most appropriate urban performance measures for stakeholderoriented urban management Method: This study performed a research synthesis by analyzing a sample of 47 papers gathered from the Scopus database. Originality/Relevance: Since urban performance measures are useful for meeting stakeholder needs in urban management, this study is original in proposing a useful set of urban performance measures for scholars and practitioners to orient their policies, investigations, and decision-making to create value for urban stakeholders. Results/Findings: The main finding is the proposition of a set of three dimensions of urban performance measures based on the Urban Studies literature for stakeholder-orientation in urban management, i.e. Environmental, Economic, and Social Sustainability, Global Cities, and Governance-related measures (designated as EESSGG). Urban management based on EESSGG core values and measures would turn local governments able to create value for urban stakeholders and urban networks of technical and human resources; and then foster urban development. Differently from firms, urban management has a wider range of issues, is more complex, is non-profitable oriented, and has other different challenges. EESSGG is more appropriate to urban management than the classical Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) for stakeholder-orientation in businesses. Social/Managerial Contributions: EESSGG is an optimal tool for urban planners and policymakers fostering a stakeholder-oriented urban management, and then, a democratic urban governance. Objective: To analyze the sustainability and innovation policies of the city of Campinas (SP), mapping the practices and policies of smart cities. Method: An exploratory and documentary research with a qualitative approach was carried out to elaborate this study. Main results: The study showed that Campinas has a wide range of smart city actions that aim at innovation with the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), having an important portfolio of achievements focused on technological innovation and sustainability. Relevance/originality: The study is unprecedented and important for highlighting smart city policies and strategies that can be implemented in Brazilian municipalities, as well as showcasing the city of Campinas (SP). Theoretical/methodological contributions: The study contributes to the discussion on smart cities, mainly by associating sustainability aspects with the use of urban innovation strategies. Introduction: Among the human adaptive strategies, plant cultivation is one of the most important over the last ten thousand years. However, with the development of large urban centers, human population resign some habits in relation of plant cultivation. Recently home gardens have received attention as an important germplasm bank, preserving many non-commercial species. Objective: This study aims to investigate the diversity of plants cultivated in home gardens. Was also explored how the human population relation with these resources. Originality: Home gardens have a high potential to maintain resources for urban biodiversity through the variety of plants that are cultivated. However, predominantly small cities are targets of studies of this nature, and large cities are the ones that suffer the most from urbanization pressure. Thus, this work brings this approach to the second largest city in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. Methodology: The population of President Dutra and Bonsucesso in the city of Guarulhos, SP, was studied. We interview 150 people, being 102 at the Presidente Dutra district and 48 in Bonsucesso neighborhood. It was used a semi-structured and random selection of households surveyed. Results: The neighborhoods prevailed the cultivation of ornamental plants which were represented by 51 botanical families, followed by food related plants with 38 botanical families and medicinal plants with 15 botanical families. Contributions: These data indicate a preference for the cultivation of ornamental plants in backyards in the city of Guarulhos, SP. Conclusions: Residential backyards of the city of Guarulhos showed numerous purposes such as leisure space, housework, car garage and shelter for animals; however, there is a strong occurrence of cultivated plants. O Centro Histórico de Cuiabá-MT é reconhecido como Patrimônio Nacional pelo Iphan e encontra-se em processo de degradação, comprometendo as atividades econômicas da região. Diante desse quadro, elaborou-se um Plano de Gestão para o Centro Histórico de Cuiabá (PGCHC), no âmbito de uma ação conjunta entre governo, academia e Organização das Nações Unidas (UNIDO/ONU). O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as diretrizes do PGCHC de forma sistematizada. A metodologia consiste em realização de diagnóstico socioeconômico e do ambiente construído, que subsidiou a posterior elaboração das propostas. Os setores econômicos âncoras a serem incentivados são educação, construção civil e comércios e serviços variados, com ênfase na economia criativa e turismo. A principal contribuição do estudo é o fornecimento de subsídios para a implementação de políticas públicas capazes de desencadear processo econômico gerador de empregos verdes vinculado à preservação do patrimônio cultural e ambiental da região.

This paper investigated the household practices developed in the disposal of waste in the city of Mossoró, RN, during the pandemic period. Through an online form with 16 open and closed questions, the research reached 71 people in 21 different neighborhoods and the rural area of the municipality. It was found that most respondents did not know about the selective collection service in their neighborhoods or place of residence, as well as lacked knowledge about the separation of waste. Furthermore, 57% of the people stated that there was an increase in household waste during the pandemic, with 26% pointing to an increase in organic waste and plastic packaging. It is clear, therefore, the importance of the performance of the state and municipal sphere in the management of solid waste and compliance with the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS). Strategies for the operationalization of socio-environmental policies must also be developed in times of crisis, since selective collection was paralyzed during the COVID-19 pandemic, harming the associations of recyclable waste pickers and the management of solid waste, since this material ended up in the local landfill. A geração e o acúmulo de resíduos sólidos urbanos tem sido uma dificuldade recorrente para os municípios brasileiros, que necessitam de orientações, subsídios e diretrizes para elaboração e implementação dos Planos de Gestão de Resíduos Sólidos. Com o intuito de corroborar com a temática, este artigo aborda uma avaliação da gestão de Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos – RSU em Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, Nordeste do Brasil, com base nos pilares da sustentabilidade ambiental, econômica e social, bem como na aplicação de indicadores da gestão sustentável de resíduos sólidos. Os métodos utilizados foram pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e pesquisa de campo. Constatou-se que o município necessita melhorar seus processos, operacionais e gerenciais, para dispor de uma estrutura mais eficiência, adequada aos preceitos da gestão sustentável de resíduos. Deve-se promover a coleta seletiva, a educação ambiental, destacando a importância da participação e envolvimento popular para que os projetos voltados ao meio ambiente possam efetivamente funcionar.

Pretende-se neste artigo abordar aspectos da implementação de parques urbanos que contribuem para o melhoramento do microclima, a preservação de espécies vegetais e animais, a valorização imobiliária, o beneficiamento da paisagem urbana, além da conservação do meio ambiente e da qualidade de vida da população. Analisa-se o caso do Parque Ecológico Professor Renato Braga para apresentar a forma como ele vem sendo utilizado nos últimos anos. A criação desse parque urbano teve o intuito de disponibilizar à população um espaço privilegiado de convivência e lazer, além de proteger a fauna e flora locais; porém, o referido parque vem sofrendo com diversos problemas sociais e ambientais, que põem em risco o seu equilíbrio ecológico. Utilizou-se uma metodologia sistêmica de análise integrada na área de estudo. O objetivo do presente trabalho consiste em analisar as formas de uso e ocupação do parque em questão, atentando para os principais danos socioambientais decorrentes das atividades exercidas no local, salientando, também, os problemas de gerenciamento dessa área. A pesquisa se fundamenta na importância da área para a sustentabilidade urbana do município de Maranguape, ocorrendo uma grande necessidade de diagnósticos sobre a dimensão da problemática atual, com a finalidade de elaborar futuras propostas como medida de mitigação dos impactos. Na primeira parte do texto, são apresentados alguns aspectos sobre o Parque Ecológico Professor Renato Braga, o objetivo e a justificativa do trabalho; na segunda; tem-se um referencial teórico sobre a importância das unidades de conservação e a sustentabilidade; na terceira, é abordada metodologia que mostra a área de estudo e o diagnóstico ambiental; a quarta fase trata dos resultados e discussão; e, finalmente, a quinta parte traz as conclusões deste estudo.

resumo Elaborado com base na análise de dados oficiais, documentos internacionais, textos legislativos e extensa revisão bibliográfica, este artigo apresenta algumas reflexões sobre temas relevantes à implementação, pelas cidades brasileiras, dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável, fixados pela Agenda 2030 para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável da Organização das Nações Unidas, apontando os instrumentos legais existentes no âmbito da Política Nacional do Meio Ambiente, Política de Gestão de Recursos Hídricos, Estatuto da Cidade e Política Nacional de Proteção e Defesa Civil, com ênfase às ações e estratégias urbanas de mitigação, adaptação e resiliência às mudanças climáticas, no intuito de contribuir, na universidade, para a orientação de pesquisas científicas inter e transdisciplinares, articuladas com a formulação, implementação e avaliação de políticas públicas e voltadas a prover soluções para o enfrentamento dos complexos desafios de gestão e planejamento enfrentados pelas cidades contemporâneas.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é investigar como as cidades de Natal e Curitiba têm incorporado a questão climática, com enfoque especial para a adaptação, em suas agendas urbanas, compreendendo como o planejamento urbano pode contribuir para a inserção da capacidade adaptativa climática local. Para isso, a metodologia apresenta uma abordagem de natureza qualitativa, utilizando as pesquisas bibliográfica, documental e de campo, com aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas, para o alcance dos resultados. Os dados coletados são analisados por meio da análise de conteúdo. A partir dos resultados obtidos, conclui-se que a incorporação da questão climática, sobretudo da adaptação, no planejamento e na gestão de Natal e de Curitiba ainda se apresenta como um grande e complexo desafio.

Urban sustainability has been a recurrent theme in international forums. It is frequently addressed by consensus that proposes recipes for sustainable cities and defines global strategies to face the instabilities and uncertainties arising from the dynamics of contemporary urbanization. The legitimate global effort for a more just and responsible social and environmental development is recognized. However, generalizations result in a gradual process of historical erasure of the multiple forms of (re)existing. This is especially true in a region like the Amazon, where urbanization is historically made invisible and placed apart from development agendas. Thus, this work proposes a systematic analysis of concepts, ideas, and debates that define contemporary urban sustainability. Based on structuring literature, the aim is to support the creative process of a definition adjusted to the reality of an urbanization process that is born in a tropical forest region, economically targeted, and sociopolitically ignored. We start from the premise that urban sustainability and its praxis must be compatible with the social, historical, spatial, and temporal context. Thus, the concept is defined as a system of four dimensions : (i) science and technology, (ii) urban management, (iii) socio-environmental awareness, and (iv) urban life and nature. Com o crescimento urbano, torna-se necessário definir as formas de atendimento às necessidades humanas por água, em qualidade e quantidade adequadas. O presente artigo busca identificar como o conceito de gradientes de densidades populacionais pode contribuir na definição de soluções mais sustentáveis, tanto para o suprimento de água, como para o tratamento de esgoto, na escala de pequenas municipalidades. Partiu-se da definição de áreas estratégicas, em termos de sustentabilidade, buscando-se determinar, com base em dados disponibilizados gratuitamente, incluindo; a densidade urbana do município de Feliz/RS; bem como a distribuição espacial do abastecimento de água e da destinação dos efluentes domésticos. A partir desse diagnóstico, que considera as particularidades do município, foram propostas soluções alternativas e descentralizadas para as áreas avaliadas. Os resultados mostram que a avaliação integrada e espacial pode conduzir a soluções mais sustentáveis, que envolvam e empoderem a comunidade local, quanto ao uso e cuidado com a água e como potencial de suporte à tomada de decisão.

Thermography is a non-destructive technique that allows the visualization of infrared radiation through visible thermal images. It may take place at great distances from the surfaces under analysis and it may be quite advantageous in sustainability issues of urban rehabilitation. This technique allows, based on the results obtained, the development of new efficient solutions, such as more durable coatings and/or greater insulation capacity, allowing the identification of pathologies that can hardly be detected by other methods. This also allows maintenance to be done timely, without the risk of deterioration. This measurement depends on different parameters that can influence its results, such as emissivity, the camera-surface distance, the observation angle, reflectivity and color. In this case, for building facades, it is also added to the above-mentioned parameters some environmental conditions, as solar radiation and wind predominate. The development of this exploratory study stands out fundamental ly for its practice, from the collection, interpretation and justification of the thermal buildings data. Regardless of the different conditions present on different days, it was possible to identify the constituent materials and record the different temperature patterns, such as the thermal transition between the same materials over the hours, orientation, exposure and different colors, as well as the passage of masses of hot and cold air from inside of buildings to its exterior. This work is relevant to a study of implementing measures for greater urban efficiency in the existent building portfolio and, consequently, achieving greater urban sustainability. The largest number of contaminated areas in the world are land chemically degraded by petroleum products. Despite the potential environmental and human risks associated with hydrocarbons, researches into the management of environmental liabilities triggered by fuel stations in Brazil are still rare. This work was developed in the period from August/2017 to July/2018, through the analysis of the environmental studies included in 200 licensing processes for fuel stations in the local Environment Agency of Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. After applying the GAC Methodology, each establishment was categorized according to Resolution n° 420/2009 of CONAMA for the management of contaminated areas. After analyzing all the processes, 22% of the projects were classified as Suspicious Areas of Contamination, 11.5% as Polluted Areas under Investigation, 7.5% as Polluted Areas under Intervention and 1.5% as Pollution Free Areas. The spatialization of the results made it possible to identify four clusters of land requiring priority management actions by the local government, given the risks of human and environmental exposure to the chemicals of interest. O artigo visa a analisar o Plano de Ação da Macrometrópole Paulista (PAM), elaborado pela Empresa Paulista de Planejamento Metropolitano S.A – EMPLASA previsto para o período de 2013-2040, sob o olhar da Sustentabilidade Urbana crítica. Busca-se verificar como essa temática se apresenta, tendo em vista as assimetrias socioambientais da Macrometrópole e a tendência de agravamento decorrente das mudanças climáticas. Nessa situação, o planejamento urbano é necessário para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de gestão do território e para o enfrentamento das assimetrias nele presentes. Estudos críticos chamam a atenção para o fato de que o planejamento urbano tem adotado uma perspectiva empresarial, que privilegia os investimentos públicos em localidades com maior potencial econômico, em detrimento de espaços marcados por desigualdades. Os resultados exprimem que o entendimento de sustentabilidade presente no PAM se volta para aspectos que consideram determinadas localidades da MMP como espaços de atração de capital, estimulando o poder público a pautar suas ações de planejamento na lógica do empreendedorismo urbano, o que pode levar a reprodução de espaços desiguais. Por fim, entende-se que as propostas do PAM podem até diminuir alguns impactos ambientais, mas elas se mostram insuficientes para o enfrentamento das assimetrias socioambientais da MMP e de seu possível agravamento, em um cenário de variabilidade climática.

Este artigo simula a implantação de um programa de coleta seletiva na cidade de Juazeiro do Norte, Estado do Ceará, no nordeste brasileiro. O objetivo é identificar os fatores que estimulariam a participação da população em um programa de coleta seletiva, caso fosse implementado. O estudo consistiu de duas etapas: na primeira, foram entrevistados 360 munícipes entre os meses de novembro de 2016 a fevereiro de 2017. Os dados coletados foram analisados, através da análise de conteúdo temático-categorial para identificar as categorias principais de motivação para a população pesquisada participar do programa de coleta seletiva. Posteriormente, estimou-se o coeficiente de correlação phi (rφ) para identificar as variáveis motivacionais associadas à participação na coleta seletiva, bem como o coeficiente de Spearman (ρ) para analisar a associação com variáveis socioeconômicas. Como resultados, observou-se que 84,44% dos respondentes admitiram que participariam da coleta seletiva. De acordo com o coeficiente de correlação phi (rφ), a variável participação na coleta seletiva está mais associada à preocupação com a preservação do meio ambiente. Referindo-se às variáveis socioeconômicas, com base no coeficiente de Spearman (ρ), apesar da fraca correlação positiva, foi possível identificar que a maior intenção de participação no programa está associada a população com maiores níveis de escolaridade.

As the urbanization process worldwide, environmental and economic challenges are increasingly concentrated in cities. These will have to overcome major obstacles in order to maintain their development without depleting natural resources and without deepening existing inequalities. In an effort to disseminate solutions capable of face these challenges, the Innovation Observatory for Sustainable Cities (OICS) acts as a virtual platform for mapping innovative urban solutions contextualized to the national territory through typologies of city-regions. The purpose of this article is to present the scope of the work developed by the Observatory, presenting how the processes that generate innovation are fundamental to the urban sustainability agenda, represented by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and how information systems can strengthen decision-making in a strategic way, through monitoring and guided planning.
