This study aimed to analyze the microplastic contamination of fresh and pindang fish and its health impact on the coast of Muncar, Banyuwangi Regency, Indonesia. In this study, a total of 115 respondents participated, providing questionnaire data on their fish consumption habits and health problems. Subsequently, spearman's correlation coefficient, a non-parametric statistical test, was used to analyze the questionnaire data. This study also included 100 samples of marine fish, consisting of 89 fresh fish and 11 pindang fish from various types of marine species. The content of microplastic polymers detected through FTIR (Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) was around 3-5 microplastic polymers/fish samples, and the most dominant were Polyethylene, Polyester, Polycaprolactam (Nylon 6) and Polyamide. This study showed that 94 percent of fish samples contained microplastics and only 6 percent of samples did not contain microplastics. The intensity of pindang fish consumption was positively correlated with respondents' health symptoms and problems. Subsequently, implementing effective waste management systems and educational programs in the coastal areas is crucial in reducing the pollution of seawater resulting from inadequate waste disposal practices. Introduction: High levels of phosphate in water are caused by wastewater pollution such as laundry waste water causing eutrophication. Adsorption is a method that can be used to reduce phosphate level. Banana stem that contains high levels of cellulose can be used as the main ingredient for making activated carbon. The aims of this study were to analyze the adsorption capacity and adsorption kinetics of banana stem activateld carbon in relducing phosphatel lelvells. Methods: The design of this research was true experiment with a pretest-posttest controlled group. Adsorption process was carried out with batch method that used three variations of adsorbate concentration and four variations of mixing time. Adsorption took place at pH 3 and 30 rpm of mixing time. Adsorption capacity was analyzed using the Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm models. Adsorption kinetic was analyzed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. Results and Discussion: The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) difactogram and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) results prove that the activateld carbon was successfully made. The iodine number of banana stelm activateld carbon was 698.12 mg/g. The results showed that activated carbon from banana stem successfully reduced phosphate levels in water with adsorption capacity 0.10708 mg/g and following the Langmuir isotherm model. The kinetics adsorption of banana stem activated carbon was validated by the pseludo-selcond-ordelr kinetics model with a kinetics constant of 0.17137 g/mg.min. Conclusion: The Langmuir models indicated that adsorption of phosphate occurred in monolayer. Modifications of activated carbon were needed based on characterization results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fine particulate matter is one of the atmospheric contaminants that exist in the atmosphere. The purpose of this study is to evaluate spatial–temporal changes in PM2.5 concentrations in the central and south zones of Peninsular Malaysia from 2019 to 2020. The study area involves twenty-one monitoring stations in the central and south zones of Peninsular Malaysia, using monthly and annual means of PM2.5 concentrations. The spatial autocorrelation of PM2.5 is calculated using Moran's I, while three semi-variogram models are used to measure the spatial variability of PM2.5. Three kriging methods, ordinary kriging (OK), simple kriging (SK), and universal kriging (UK), were used for interpolation and comparison. The results showed that the Gaussian model was more appropriate for the central zone (MSE = 14.76) in 2019, while the stable model was more suitable in 2020 (MSE = 19.83). In addition, the stable model is more appropriate for both 2019 (MSE = 12.68) and 2020 (8.87) for the south zone. Based on the performance indicator, universal kriging was chosen as the best interpolation method in 2019 and 2020 for both the central and south zone. In conclusion, the findings provide a complete map of the variations in PM2.5 for two different zones, and show that interpolation methods such as universal kriging are beneficial and could be extended to the investigation of air pollution distributions in other areas of Peninsular Malaysia. Introduction: Stunting is one of the nutritional issues that becomes the triple burden of malnutrition and affects the world, especially in almost every nation. Indonesia is listed as the third country with the greatest stunting prevalence in the Southeast Asia/South-East Asia Regional (SEAR) areas. This study aimed to examine the connections between stunting incidence a history of infectious diseases, as well as the connections between toddlers who experience stunting events a history of infectious diseases among toddlers in Drokilo Village. Methods: This study used a case-control research design and an analytical observational approach. It involved 51 toddlers samples and included dependent variables i.e., stunting incidence and independent variables i.e., environmental sanitation at home and a history of infectious diseases. Bivariate analysis was utilized together with Chi-square test to examine the variables. Results and Discussion: Male toddlers over the age of two years frequently experienced stunting. With a p-value of 0.046, environmental sanitation at home was associated with a lower stunting incidence. With a p-value of 0.037, a history of infectious diseases was associated with higher stunting incidence. Conclusion: Environmental sanitation at home a history of infectious diseases had significant relationships with stunting incidence in toddlers. In short, these two factors may cause stunting in toddlers in Drokilo Village, Kedungadem District, Bojonegoro Regency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Diarrhea is an endemic disease that causes extraordinary events (pandemic) and is often accompanied by death in Indonesia. Previous reports showed that children who practice poor hand washing or without using soap and running water are 2.175 times more likely to experience diarrhea. It was also discovered that exclusive breastfeeding can form antibodies and other nutrients that protect babies from infections such as diarrhea. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the most influential factors between hand washing habits and exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of diarrhea in Indonesia. Methods: This study used a meta-analysis method. Results and Discussions: The results showed that the pooled PR value of the hand washing habit variable e1.06 = 2.886 (95% CI 0.87 - 1.24) was greater than the exclusive breastfeeding e0.53 = 1.698 (95% CI 0.36 - 0.70). The data were obtained from articles and journals with a cross-sectional study design. Based on the results of the meta-analysis, people who did not apply proper hand washing habits are 2,886 times more at risk of diarrhea. Furthermore, babies who were not exclusively breastfed were 1,698 times more likely to have diarrhea than those who received exclusive breastfeeding.
