The Innovative Design for the Future Use and Reuse of Wooden building components (InFutUReWood) project aims to examine if recovered timber is suited for contemporary timber architecture. To address this aim, series of structural testing programmes were carried out on products manufactured using recovered softwood and hardwood timber from a number of partner countries. These products include cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, glued-laminated timber (GLT) beams and IsoTimber wall panels. In addition, series of tests were performed on similar products manufactured from new timber and on hybrid panels with mixed recovered and new timber to enable the evaluation of the relative performance characteristics of the different products. Tests were also carried out to evaluate the bonding characteristics and the embedment behaviour of recovered wood. Finally, a comparison between the environmental impacts of CLT manufactured from recovered and from primary wood was performed using life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology The report shows that the use of recovered timber in high-value material applications like CLT or GLT is to current knowledge an environmentally and technically feasible option and can contribute to the implementation of wood cascading as part of a bio-based economy. non-peer-reviewed 2023-06-30

Background: The randomized phase III TURANDOT trial performed by the Central European Cooperative Oncology Group (CECOG) compared first-line BEV + paclitaxel (PAC) vs BEV + CAP in HER2-negative mBC in a prospective randomized trial [Lang, Lancet Oncol 2013]. In this trial, HFS was the most common adverse drug reaction in the BEV + CAP arm. In the present subanalysis, we investigated whether the occurrence of HFS constituted a predictor for improved efficacy of BEV + CAP in the study population randomized to this treatment arm. Methods: In the TURANDOT trial, patients with HER2-negative mBC who had received no prior chemotherapy for mBC were randomized to either BEV-PAC (BEV 10 mg/kg d1 & 15 + PAC 90 mg/m2 d1, 8, & 15 q4w) or BEV-CAP (BEV 15 mg/kg d1 + CAP 1000 mg/m2 bid d1-14 q3w). Only patients who were randomized to the BEV-CAP arm and received at least one dose of CAP were included in the present analysis. Cox proportional hazard models with time-dependent covariate "HFS of any grade" and "HFS grade" were used to analyze the association between HFS and OS or PFS. In addition, landmark (LM) analyses were performed analyzing the impact of HFS occurrence within the first 3 treatment months on PFS and OS. Results: Baseline characteristics of patients with HFS (n=154) versus no HFS (n=123) were well balanced and showed no significant differences. Table 1 shows that with the occurrence of HFS, the hazard for progression or death was reduced by > 40%, while the risk reduction (RR) was >55% for OS. Moreover, with increasing HFS-grade an increasing RR was observed for OS. In patients with and without HFS in the first 3 months, the median PFS after the 3 months LM were 10 and 6.2 months (logrank test p=0.0026), respectively, and the corresponding OS rates at 2 years after the 3 months LM were 63% and 44% (log rank test, p=0.0842), respectively. Early occurrence of HFS and HFS severity might be used for treatment modifications and patient motivation. Detection of biomarkers for HFS could strengthen this approach. Beim Einsatz von Lupinenschrot zur Kopfdüngung in Tomaten konnte ein positiver Primingeffekt für Stickstoff ermittelt werden. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollten die Ursachen und Zusammenhänge für diese zusätzliche Stickstoffmobilisierung aus dem Boden geprüft werden. Es wurden die Düngevarianten Lupinenschrot und Erbsenschrot sowohl mit/ohne Kompost als Grunddüngung im Brutversuch auf Stickstoffmineralisierungsrate und -potential geprüft.

Mit dem Erfolg der Normen der Reihe DIN EN ISO 9000 müssen auch SoftwareProduzenten immer häufiger den Nachweis erbringen, daß sie ein ISO-9000-konformes Qualitätsmanagement betreiben. In der Arbeit wird gezeigt, wie die mit der Software-Entwicklung verbundene Projekterfahrung zum Aufbau eines praxisgerechten Qualitätsmanagementsystems genutzt werden kann. Hierzu wird zunächst eine geeignete Projektorganisation für den Aufbauprozeß vorgestellt. Anschließend wird dann der Ablauf der einzelnen Projektphasen näher erläutert.
