This report examines experiences gained from BattFlex, which is one of four pilot projects in the large-scale demonstration project, “Intelligent Distribution of Electricity” (IDE). The IDE project is partly funded by Enova from 2019 to 2024, and managed by a consortium led by the Norwegian Smartgrid Centre. The consortium consists of grid companies Elvia, BKK, Tensio, Norgesnett, Lede and Glitre Nett, as well as NTNU and EPOS Consulting. The report describes the effects and benefits of grid batteries in low-voltage grids, customers’ smart water heaters, and bilateral agreements with end customers. The pilot project demonstrates the importance of good collaboration between grid companies and suppliers. In BattFlex, collaboration has led to innovation and product development that can reduce voltage quality issues in weak or exposed low-voltage networks, which is more cost-effective than conventional grid reinforcement measures. Denne rapporten tar for seg erfaringer fra piloten BattFlex som er en av fire piloter i storskala demonstrasjonsprosjektet IDE – Intelligent distribusjon av elektrisitet. IDE-prosjektet er del-finansiert av Enova i perioden 2019-2024 og blir gjennomført av et konsortium ledet av The Norwegian Smartgrid Centre. Deltakere i konsortiet er nettselskapene BKK, Elvia, Tensio, Agder Energi, Norgesnett og LEDE, samt NTNU og EPOS Consulting. Rapporten beskriver effekter og nytteverdier av nettbatterier i lavspenningsnettet, smarte varmtvannsberedere på kundesiden og bilaterale avtaler med sluttkundene. Piloten viser hvor viktig det er med godt samarbeid mellom nettselskap og leverandør. I BattFlex har samarbeidet ført til innovasjon og produktutvikling som kan redusere problemer knyttet til spenningskvalitet, i svake eller utsatte lavspenningsnett, mer kostnadseffektivt enn konvensjonell nettforsterking. However, the effectiveness of such techniques has not been assessed for the hierarchical text classification (HTC) yet. This study investigates application of those models and algorithms on this specific problem by means of experimentation and analysis. Classification models were trained with prominent machine learning algorithm implementations—fastText, XGBoost, and Keras’ CNN—and noticeable word embeddings generation methods—GloVe, word2vec, and fastText—with publicly available data and evaluated them with measures specifically appropriate for the hierarchical context. FastText achieved an LCAF1 of 0.871 on a single-labeled version of the RCV1 dataset. The results analysis indicates that using word embeddings is a very promising approach for HTC. Modelos eficientes de representação numérica textual (word embeddings) combinados com algoritmos modernos de aprendizado de máquina têm recentemente produzido uma melhoria considerável em tarefas de classificação automática de documentos. Contudo, a efetividade de tais técnicas ainda não foi avaliada com relação à classificação hierárquica de texto. Este estudo investiga a aplicação daqueles modelos e algoritmos neste problema em específico através de experimentação e análise. Modelos de classificação foram treinados usando implementações proeminentes de algoritmos de aprendizado de máquina—fastText, XGBoost e CNN (Keras)— e notórios métodos de geração de word embeddings—GloVe, word2vec e fastText—com dados disponíveis publicamente e avaliados usando métricas especificamente adequadas ao contexto hierárquico. Nesses experimentos, fastText alcançou um LCAF1 de 0,871 usando uma versão da base de dados RCV1 com apenas uma categoria por tupla. A análise dos resultados indica que a utilização de word embeddings é uma abordagem muito promissora para classificação hierárquica de texto.

This paper describes the analysis and implementation of a computational model that simulates the behavior of a higher education institution student service center regarding its service times. The simulation aims to validate the service stakeholders perception and simulate previously unknown situations.

Este documento apresenta um estudo sobre complexidade computacional da criação de uma matriz documento-termo contendo valores de TF-IDF. Apresentamos conceitos de análise assintótica e definições acerca de TF-IDF para descrevemos o algoritmo a ser analisado. Estimamos a complexidade em função do número de documentos levando em consideração a Lei de Heaps. Implementamos o cálculo de TF-IDF usando diferentes estruturas de dados. Concluímos que a complexidade de ambas implementações aproximam-se de $O(n^2)$, porém houve sensível redução do número de operações quando alterada a forma de representação dos dados.
