Objectives: To establish and validate a novel method to orient a 3-dimensional (3D) facial model to natural head position (NHP) in a stereophotogrammetric system using a 2-dimensional frontal full-face photograph of NHP., Material and Methods: Specific technique procedure was reported for our method, and in vitro model experiment was performed for accuracy test. A preliminary volunteer study was then planned for reproducibility test., Results: The accuracy on a 3D-printed test model was within 0.15°. Within an observational cohort of 22 dental students, the angular deviations of different maxillofacial regions (e.g., central forehead, left and right zygomatic regions, apex of nose and mental region) were no more than 2° between the 3D NHP models acquired with a shorter time-interval (1 h from baseline) or a longer time-interval (7 days from baseline), which were all considered clinically insignificant. A 4 4 .6 10 .8 topology hybrid ultramicroporous material (HUM), {[Cu 1.5 F(SiF 6 )(L) 2.5 ]·G} n , (L = 4,4'-bisimidazolylbiphenyl, G = guest molecules), 1, formed by cross-linking interpenetrated 3D four-connected CdSO 4 -type nets with hexafluorosilicate anions is synthesized and evaluated in the context of gas sorption and separation herein. 1 is the first HUM functionalized with two different types of fluorinated sites (SiF 6 2- and F - anions) lining along the pore surface. The optimal pore size (≈5 Å) combining mixed and high-density electronegative fluorinated sites enable 1 to preferentially adsorb C 2 H 2 over CO 2 and C 2 H 4 by hydrogen bonding interactions with a high C 2 H 2 isosteric heat of adsorption (Q st ) of ≈42.3 kJ mol -1 at zero loading. The pronounced discriminatory sorption behaviors lead to excellent separation performance for C 2 H 2 /CO 2 and C 2 H 2 /C 2 H 4 that surpasses many well-known sorbents. Dynamic breakthrough experiments are conducted to confirm the practical separation capability of 1, which reveal an impressive separation factor of 6.1 for equimolar C 2 H 2 /CO 2 mixture. Stimuli-responsive physisorbents that undergo reversible structural transformations induced by external stimuli (e.g. light, guests, or heat) offer the promise of utility in gas storage and separation. Whereas reports on guest or light-responsive sorbents have increased in recent years, we are unaware of reports on sorbents that exhibit both light and guest-induced structural transformations. Herein, we report that the square lattice, sql, topology coordination network Zn(fba)(bis) ⋅ 2DMF (sql-5,6-Zn-α, 5=trans-4,4'-bis(1-imidazolyl)stilbene=bis, 6=2,2-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane=H 2 fba) underwent single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation (SCSC) upon activation, affording nonporous sql-5,6-Zn-β. Parallel alignment at 3.23 Å of olefinic moieties on adjacent bis ligands in sql-5,6-Zn-α enabled SCSC [2+2] photocycloaddition upon exposure to UV light (365 nm) or sunlight. sql-5,6-Zn-α thereby transformed to mot-5,6-Zn-α, which was subsequently activated to the narrow pore phase mot-5,6-Zn-β. sql-5,6-Zn-β and mot-5,6-Zn-β both exhibited S-shaped adsorption isotherms characteristic of guest-induced structural changes when exposed to CO 2 at 195 K (type-F-IV and type F-I, respectively). Cycling experiments conducted upon sql-5,6-Zn-β reduced particle size after cycle 1 and induced transformation into a rare example of a shape memory coordination network, sql-5,6-Zn-γ. Aim: This study aims to utilize machine learning (ML) and logistic regression (LR) models to predict surgical outcomes among patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) based on admission examination, assisting in making optimal surgical treatment decision for these patients., Method: We conducted a retrospective review of patients hospitalized in our department for moderate-to-severe TBI. Patients admitted between October 2011 and October 2022 were assigned to the training set, while patients admitted between November 2022 and May 2023 were designated as the external validation set. Five ML algorithms and LR model were employed to predict the postoperative Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) status at discharge using clinical and routine blood data collected upon admission. The Shapley (SHAP) plot was utilized for interpreting the models., Results: A total of 416 patients were included in this study, and they were divided into the training set (n = 396) and the external validation set (n = 47). The ML models, using both clinical and routine blood data, were able to predict postoperative GOS outcomes with area under the curve (AUC) values ranging from 0.860 to 0.900 during the internal cross-validation and from 0.801 to 0.890 during the external validation. In contrast, the LR model had the lowest AUC values during the internal and external validation (0.844 and 0.567, respectively). When blood data was not available, the ML models achieved AUCs of 0.849 to 0.870 during the internal cross-validation and 0.714 to 0.861 during the external validation. Similarly, the LR model had the lowest AUC values (0.821 and 0.638, respectively). Through repeated cross-validation analysis, we found that routine blood data had a significant association with higher mean AUC values in all ML and LR models. The SHAP plot was used to visualize the contributions of all predictors and highlighted the significance of blood data in the lightGBM model., Conclusion: The study concluded that ML models could provide rapid and accurate predictions for postoperative GOS outcomes at discharge following moderate-to-severe TBI. Background: The issue of hair growth on reconstructed ears has been a matter of concern for both patients and surgeons, despite the notable progress made in microtia reconstruction technology in recent times., Objective: This study aims to present the practical implementation of long-pulsed 800-nm diode laser depilation technology in the field of auricular reconstruction. Furthermore, it seeks to establish a comprehensive and standardized protocol for utilizing lasers in the reconstruction of microtia ears., Methods: A total of 965 patients (comprising 1021 ears) diagnosed with congenital microtia underwent treatment using 800-nm long-pulsed diode laser depilation. The participants received 1-3 treatment sessions with intervals of 25-30 days. To assess the effectiveness of the treatment, two independent observers compared photographs and measured the reduction in terminal hair count before and after the final session. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using VAS questionnaires, and any adverse events were diligently recorded., Results: The findings indicated that the utilization of the long-pulsed 800-nm diode laser was both safe and efficient in achieving hair removal during microtia ear reconstruction. As additional sessions were conducted, pain scores demonstrated a decline, while adverse reactions remained minimal., Limitations: This is a retrospective single-institution study., Conclusion: The application of a long-pulsed 800-nm diode laser has been proved to be a safe and effective method for removing hair during the process of microtia ear reconstruction, involving the use of a tissue expander and autologous costal cartilage. Objective: To investigate the effects of cerium oxide nanoenzyme-gelatin methacrylate anhydride (GelMA) hydrogel (hereinafter referred to as composite hydrogel) in the repair of infected full-thickness skin defect wounds in mice. Methods: This study was an experimental study. Cerium oxide nanoenzyme with a particle size of (116±9) nm was prepared by hydrothermal method, and GelMA hydrogel with porous network structure and good gelling performance was also prepared. The 25 μg/mL cerium oxide nanoenzyme which could significantly promote the proliferation of human skin fibroblasts and had high superoxide dismutase activity was screened out. It was added to GelMA hydrogel to prepare composite hydrogel. The percentage of cerium oxide nanoenzyme released from the composite hydrogel was calculated after immersing it in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) for 3 and 7 d. The red blood cell suspension of mice was divided into PBS group, Triton X-100 group, cerium oxide nanoenzyme group, GelMA hydrogel group, and composite hydrogel group, which were treated with corresponding solution. The hemolysis of red blood cells was detected by microplate reader after 1 h of treatment. The bacterial concentrations of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Escherichia coli were determined after being cultured with PBS, cerium oxide nanoenzyme, GelMA hydrogel, and composite hydrogel for 2 h. The sample size in all above experiments was 3. Twenty-four 8-week-old male BALB/c mice were taken, and a full-thickness skin defect wound was prepared in the symmetrical position on the back and infected with MRSA. The mice were divided into control group without any drug intervention, and cerium oxide nanoenzyme group, GelMA hydrogel group, and composite hydrogel group applied with corresponding solution, with 6 mice in each group. The wound healing was observed on 3, 7, and 14 d after injury, and the remaining wound areas on 3 and 7 d after injury were measured (the sample size was 5). The concentration of MRSA in the wound exudation of mice on 3 d after injury was measured (the sample size was 3), and the blood flow perfusion in the wound of mice on 5 d after injury was observed using a laser speckle flow imaging system (the sample size was 6). On 14 d after injury, the wound tissue of mice was collected for hematoxylin-eosin staining to observe the newly formed epithelium and for Masson staining to observe the collagen situation (the sample size was both 3). Results: After immersion for 3 and 7 d, the release percentages of cerium oxide nanoenzyme in the composite hydrogel were about 39% and 75%, respectively. After 1 h of treatment, compared with that in Triton X-100 group, the hemolysis of red blood cells in PBS group, GelMA hydrogel group, cerium oxide nanoenzyme group, and composite hydrogel group was significantly decreased ( P <0.05). Compared with that cultured with PBS, the concentrations of MRSA and Escherichia coli cultured with cerium oxide nanoenzyme, GelMA hydrogel, and composite hydrogel for 2 h were significantly decreased ( P <0.05). The wounds of mice in the four groups were gradually healed from 3 to 14 d after injury, and the wounds of mice in composite hydrogel group were all healed on 14 d after injury. On 3 and 7 d after injury, the remaining wound areas of mice in composite hydrogel group were (29±3) and (13±5) mm 2 , respectively, which were significantly smaller than (56±12) and (46±10) mm 2 in control group and (51±7) and (38±8) mm 2 in cerium oxide nanoenzyme group (with P values all <0.05), but was similar to (41±5) and (24±9) mm 2 in GelMA hydrogel group (with P values both >0.05). On 3 d after injury, the concentration of MRSA on the wound of mice in composite hydrogel group was significantly lower than that in control group, cerium oxide nanoenzyme group, and GelMA hydrogel group, respectively (with P values all <0.05). On 5 d after injury, the volume of blood perfusion in the wound of mice in composite hydrogel group was significantly higher than that in control group, cerium oxide nanoenzyme group, and GelMA hydrogel group, respectively ( P <0.05). On 14 d after injury, the wound of mice in composite hydrogel group basically completed epithelization, and the epithelization was significantly better than that in the other three groups. Compared with that in the other three groups, the content of collagen in the wound of mice in composite hydrogel group was significantly increased, and the arrangement was also more orderly. Conclusions: The composite hydrogel has good biocompatibility and antibacterial effect in vivo and in vitro . It can continuously sustained release cerium oxide nanoenzyme, improve wound blood perfusion in the early stage, and promote wound re-epithelialization and collagen synthesis, therefore promoting the healing of infected full-thickness skin defect wounds in mice.

Aim: This study aims to develop prediction models for in-hospital outcomes after non-surgical treatment among patients with moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI)., Method: We conducted a retrospective review of patients hospitalized for moderate-to-severe TBI in our department from 2011 to 2020. Five machine learning (ML) algorithms and the conventional logistic regression (LR) model were employed to predict in-hospital mortality and the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) functional outcomes. These models utilized clinical and routine blood data collected upon admission., Results: This study included a total of 196 patients who received only non-surgical treatment after moderate-to-severe TBI. When predicting mortality, ML models achieved area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.921 to 0.994 using clinical and routine blood data, and 0.877 to 0.982 using only clinical data. In comparison, LR models yielded AUCs of 0.762 and 0.730 respectively. When predicting the GOS outcome, ML models achieved AUCs of 0.870 to 0.915 using clinical and routine blood data, and 0.858 to 0.927 using only clinical data. In comparison, the LR model yielded AUCs of 0.798 and 0.787 respectively. Repeated internal validation showed that the contributions of routine blood data for prediction models may depend on different prediction algorithms and different outcome measurements., Conclusion: The study reported ML-based prediction models that provided rapid and accurate predictions on short-term outcomes after non-surgical treatment among patients with moderate-to-severe TBI. Background: Poor Bell's phenomenon is often considered a relative contraindication for ptosis surgery, as it increases the risk of corneal exposure and dry eye symptoms after surgery. However, the Bell's phenomenon may vary in different individuals and sleep stages, making it inaccurate to predict the position of the eye during sleep based on awake examination. This study aimed to investigate the role of Bell's phenomenon in ptosis surgery and the management of nocturnal lagophthalmos., Methods: We conducted a retrospective case series of 23 patients with ptosis and poor Bell's phenomenon who underwent different surgical techniques at Xijing Hospital from April 2020 to June 2021. We assessed Bell's phenomenon at different stages of sleep and collected data on ptosis degree, surgical approach, lagophthalmos, complications, and outcomes., Results: Of the total 23 patients originally considered for study, 9 with frontalis muscle advancement technique, 8 with conjoint fascial sheath suspension, 4 with levator resection technique, and 2 with levator aponeurosis plication technique. All patients achieved satisfactory correction of ptosis. One patient had prolonged lagophthalmos and underwent reoperation to lower the eyelid height. Other complications were minor and resolved with conservative treatment., Conclusion: We conclude that poor Bell's phenomenon is not a relative contraindication for ptosis surgery. Nocturnal lagophthalmos should be monitored after ptosis surgery regardless of the Bell's phenomenon results. Background: Lagophthalmos, a common complication after blepharoptosis correction, has plagued oculoplastic surgeons. The goal of this study was to investigate the effect of tape eyelid closure on reducing the occurrence of lagophthalmos after blepharoptosis correction., Methods: From April 2020 to June 2021, a total of 112 patients with severe congenital ptosis received corrective surgery at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University. Of these, 48 underwent frontalis muscle advancement technique and 64 underwent conjoint fascial sheath suspension. Preoperative data collected included demographics, levator function, Bell's phenomenon, and marginal reflex distance 1 (MRD1). Postoperative data included surgery type, MRD1, eyelid closure function, aesthetic outcomes (including eyelid contour, eyelid symmetry, and eyelid crease), keratitis, and other complications., Results: Frontalis muscle advancement technique group: the median of safe eye closure time was 7.3 months (positive Bell's phenomenon; interquartile range [IQR], 3.8-10.8 months) and 13.9 months (poor Bell's phenomenon; IQR, 11.6-16.1 months). There was a significant improvement between the preoperative and postoperative MRD1 (-1.52 ± 0.82 vs 3.85 ± 0.58 mm, P < 0.05). Conjoint fascial sheath suspension group: the median of safe eye closure time was 5.7 months (positive Bell's phenomenon; IQR, 2.9-8.5 months) and 12.4 months (poor Bell's phenomenon; IQR, 8.1-16.7 months). There was a significant improvement between the preoperative and postoperative MRD1 (-1.02 ± 0.91 vs 4.15 ± 1.03 mm, P < 0.05). Background: Severe congenital ptosis is a common ocular deformity in pediatric patients that can significantly impact visual development and aesthetic appearance, leading to negative psychosocial outcomes. The frontalis muscle advancement technique is a well-established surgical treatment for severe congenital ptosis. Aesthetic changes of the brow-eye continuum often plays an important role in ptosis surgery., Methods: We conducted a single-center retrospective case series study of patients with severe congenital ptosis who underwent the frontalis muscle advancement technique at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University between April 2020 and June 2021. The study aimed to evaluate the aesthetic changes of the eyebrow-eyelid continuum after surgery. The main outcome measurements included marginal reflex distance 1, palpebral fissure height, eyebrow position, upper eyelid to lower eyebrow distance, lower eyelid to upper eyebrow distance, and nasal base to lower eyelid distance., Results: The study included 48 patients (66 eyelids), with 30 unilateral and 18 bilateral patients. Our analysis found that eyebrow height decreased by an average of 4.8% postoperatively relative to preoperatively in all patients., Conclusions: The frontalis muscle advancement technique has demonstrated effectiveness in achieving aesthetically pleasing outcomes in children with severe ptosis. Background: Bulbar conjunctival prolapse is one of the complications of conjoint fascial sheath (CFS) suspension and has a negative impact on surgical results. To explore the prevention methods of this complication, the authors compared the incidence of it between the below-conjunctiva fornix-bulbar conjunctiva-Tenon capsule (CBT) approach and the above-CBT approach to dissecting CFS in CFS suspension and shared their experience in the treatment of bulbar conjunctival prolapse., Methods: From January of 2020 to August of 2021, 81 patients with severe congenital ptosis who underwent CFS suspension were enrolled and divided into two groups. Forty-five patients' (group A) CFS was dissected by means of the below-CBT approach and 36 patients' (group B) CFS was dissected by means of the above-CBT approach. Data regarding the incidence and outcomes of bulbar conjunctival prolapse and the postoperative condition were collected and analyzed., Results: The incidence of bulbar conjunctival prolapse was 24.44% in group A and 2.78% in group B. Of the 12 bulbar conjunctival prolapse patients, seven patients' conditions improved after conservative treatment, and five did not. All of them underwent bulbar conjunctiva resection within 1 year and were cured. No recurrent prolapse was observed within 3 months postoperatively. At the last follow-up, the mean marginal reflex distance 1 and palpebral fissure height were 4.09 ± 0.19 mm and 9.85 ± 0.62 mm, respectively. There were no complications except lagophthalmos (16 eyelids), asymmetric eyelid contour (one patient), and trichiasis (two eyelids)., Conclusions: The incidence of bulbar conjunctival prolapse decreased significantly by dissecting CFS by means of the above-CBT approach. Propane (C 3 H 8 ) is a widely used fuel gas. Metal-organic framework (MOF) physisorbents that are C 3 H 8 selective offer the potential to significantly reduce the energy footprint for capturing C 3 H 8 from natural gas, where C 3 H 8 is typically present as a minor component. Here we report the C 3 H 8 recovery performance of a previously unreported lonsdaleite, lon , topology MOF, a chiral metal-organic material, [Ni( S -IEDC)(bipy)(SCN)] n , CMOM-7 . CMOM-7 was prepared from three low-cost precursors: Ni(SCN) 2 , S -indoline-2-carboxylic acid ( S -IDECH), and 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy), and its structure was determined by single crystal X-ray crystallography. Pure gas adsorption isotherms revealed that CMOM-7 exhibited high C 3 H 8 uptake (2.71 mmol g -1 ) at 0.05 bar, an indication of a higher affinity for C 3 H 8 than both C 2 H 6 and CH 4 . Dynamic column breakthrough experiments afforded high purity C 3 H 8 capture from a gas mixture comprising C 3 H 8 /C 2 H 6 /CH 4 (v/v/v = 5/10/85). Despite the dilute C 3 H 8 stream, CMOM-7 registered a high dynamic uptake of C 3 H 8 and a breakthrough time difference between C 3 H 8 and C 2 H 6 of 79.5 min g -1 , superior to those of previous MOF physisorbents studied under the same flow rate. This study aimed to investigate the motivations for Chinese patients seeking operative labiaplasty. Data was collected from January 2018 to December 2019 using a standardized questionnaire, which examined factors influencing patients' motivations, including aesthetic and functional reasons, as well as psychological factors. Of the 216 patients who responded to the questionnaire within 24 months, 22.2% cited cosmetic reasons, while 38.4% reported functional discomfort. Both functional and aesthetic reasons were cited by 35.2% of patients, while 4.2% reported psychological troubles. It is noteworthy that patients who sought surgical intervention for physical complaints did so as a personal decision, and only 6.3% of patients seeking labiaplasty for cosmetic reasons were influenced by their sexual partner. Additionally, 7.9% and 66.7% of patients with other motivations were influenced by their male spouse, while 2.6% and 33.3% were influenced by the media. In conclusion, this study suggests that most Chinese patients seek labiaplasty for functional reasons, with few being influenced by sexual partners or media.Impact statement What is already known on this subject? The growing demand and interest in labiaplasty surgery has been widely acknowledged. Existing reports from western countries have highlighted that aesthetic concerns are the primary motivations behind patients' requests for this surgical intervention. However, there is limited information available regarding the factors influencing Chinese patients' decisions to undergo labiaplasty, as China has a large population. Therefore, the specific reasons behind Chinese patients' requests for labiaplasty are not well understood. What do the results of this study add? This clinical study focuses on the perspectives of eastern women regarding labia reduction surgery, contributing to the existing literature on this topic. Notably, this study is one of the few that examines the request for surgical reduction of hypertrophy of the labia minora and highlights that not all patients undergo surgical intervention purely for personal reasons. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? The implications of these findings for clinical practice and further research are significant. Given the increasing demand for labiaplasty, gynecologists in Australia, Western Europe, the United States, and New Zealand are likely to encounter a rising number of women seeking labial reduction surgery. Similarly, labiaplasty has become an increasingly popular cosmetic surgery procedure in China. This study's results differ from previous research, which suggested that functional concerns were the primary motivation for women seeking to undergo labiaplasty. The request for pursuing labiaplasty is influenced not only by personal preferences but also by external factors. Therefore, a comprehensive evaluation before considering the procedure is crucial, and if practitioners are unsure, multidisciplinary specialized evaluation should be considered.

Separation of the C 8 aromatic isomers, xylenes (PX, MX, and OX) and ethylbenzene (EB), is important to the petrochemical industry. Whereas physisorptive separation is an energy-efficient alternative to current processes, such as distillation, physisorbents do not generally exhibit strong C 8 selectivity. Herein, we report the mixed-linker square lattice ( sql ) coordination network [Zn 2 (sba) 2 (bis)] n · m DMF ( sql-4,5-Zn , H 2 sba or 4 = 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoic acid, bis or 5 = trans-4,4'-bis(1-imidazolyl)stilbene) and its C 8 sorption properties. sql-4,5-Zn was found to exhibit high uptake capacity for liquid C 8 aromatics (∼20.2 wt %), and to the best of our knowledge, it is the first sorbent to exhibit selectivity for PX, EB, and MX over OX for binary, ternary, and quaternary mixtures from gas chromatography. Single-crystal structures of narrow-pore, intermediate-pore, and large-pore phases provided insight into the phase transformations, which were enabled by flexibility of the linker ligands and changes in the square grid geometry and interlayer distances. We report that linker ligand substitution involving just one atom induces a shape-memory effect in a flexible coordination network. Specifically, whereas SIFSIX-23-Cu, [Cu(SiF 6 )(L) 2 ] n , (L=1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl)benzene, SiF 6 2- =SIFSIX) has been previously reported to exhibit reversible switching between closed and open phases, the activated phase of SIFSIX-23-Cu N , [Cu(SiF 6 )(L N ) 2 ] n (L N =2,5-bis(1-imidazolyl)pyridine), transformed to a kinetically stable porous phase with strong affinity for CO 2 . As-synthesized SIFSIX-23-Cu N , α, transformed to less open, γ, and closed, β, phases during activation. β did not adsorb N 2 (77 K), rather it reverted to α induced by CO 2 at 195, 273 and 298 K. CO 2 desorption resulted in α', a shape-memory phase which subsequently exhibited type-I isotherms for N 2 (77 K) and CO 2 as well as strong performance for separation of CO 2 /N 2 (15/85) at 298 K and 1 bar driven by strong binding (Q st =45-51 kJ/mol) and excellent CO 2 /N 2 selectivity (up to 700). Background: The conventional frontalis muscle advancement technique still has some disadvantages, such as residual lagophthalmos, eyebrow ptosis, eyelid contour abnormality, and undercorrection. This article describes the authors' extended frontalis muscle advancement technique, which takes extensive subcutaneous separation through the eyelid crease incision for the treatment of severe congenital blepharoptosis., Methods: A retrospective review was performed that included patients with severe congenital ptosis who underwent extended frontalis muscle advancement technique from April of 2019 to April of 2021. Preoperative evaluation included age, sex, and margin reflex distance 1, levator function, and lagophthalmos. Postoperative evaluation including correction result, closure function of eyelid, and cosmetic result was performed at the last follow-up., Results: From April of 2019 to April of 2021, a total of 102 patients (137 eyes) who underwent extended frontalis muscle advancement technique were included in the study. The mean postoperative margin reflex distance 1 in unilateral and bilateral ptosis patients was 3.84 ± 0.60 mm and 3.86 ± 0.56, respectively, and 126 eyes (92.0%) showed successful correction. Postoperatively, the mean residual lagophthalmos was 0.88 ± 1.40 mm, and 127 eyes (92.7%) showed excellent or good eyelid closure function. The average score of cosmetic results was 8.29 ± 1.34, and 94 patients (92.2%) had an excellent or good cosmetic result., Conclusions: Extensive subcutaneous separation relieves the mutual restriction between the forehead skin and frontalis muscle. Adverse-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has a dismal prognosis. We aimed to investigate the activity and tolerability of venetoclax combined with homoharringtonine (HHT) plus cytarabine (VHA) regimen for de novo adverse-risk AML. Thirteen de novo AML patients with adverse-risk factors were treated with venetoclax (100 mg day 1, 200 mg day 2, 400 mg days 3-21), HHT (1 mg/m 2 days 1-5) and cytarabine (100 mg/m 2 days 1-5) (VHA regimen). Complete remission (CR) was achieved in 11/13 patient (84.6%), all of CR responders were measurable residual disease (MRD) negative detected by multi-parameter flow cytometry (MFC). Grade 3-4 neutropenia, anaemia, and thrombocytopenia occurred in most patients. Grade 3-4 non haematological adverse events (AEs) included febrile neutropenia (4/13, 30.8%). With a median follow-up of 10 months (range 4-19), median overall survival and event-free survival were not reached. Chiral metal-organic materials, CMOMs, are of interest as they can offer selective binding sites for chiral guests. Such binding sites can enable CMOMs to serve as chiral crystalline sponges (CCSs) to determine molecular structure and/or purify enantiomers. We recently reported on the chiral recognition properties of a homochiral cationic diamondoid, dia, network {[Ni( S -IDEC)(bipy)(H 2 O)][NO 3 ]} n ( S -IDEC = S -indoline-2-carboxylicate, bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine), CMOM-5[NO 3 ] . The modularity of CMOM-5[NO 3 ] means there are five feasible approaches to fine-tune structures and properties via substitution of one or more of the following components: metal cation (Ni 2+ ); bridging ligand ( S -IDEC); linker (bipy); extra-framework anion (NO 3 - ); and terminal ligand (H 2 O). Herein, we report the effect of anion substitution on the CCS properties of CMOM-5[NO 3 ] by preparing and characterizing {[Ni( S -IDEC)(bipy)(H 2 O)][BF 4 ]} n , CMOM-5[BF 4 ] . The chiral channels in CMOM-5[BF 4 ] enabled it to function as a CCS for determination of the absolute crystal structures of both enantiomers of three chiral compounds: 1-phenyl-1-butanol (1P1B); methyl mandelate (MM); ethyl mandelate (EM). Chiral resolution experiments revealed CMOM-5[BF 4 ] to be highly selective toward the S -isomers of MM and EM with enantiomeric excess, ee, values of 82.6 and 78.4%, respectively. The ee measured for S -EM surpasses the 64.3% exhibited by [DyNaL(H 2 O) 4 ] 6H 2 O and far exceeds that of CMOM-5[NO 3 ] (6.0%). Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of free transplanted pre-expanded scapular flap in reconstructing scar contracture deformity of neck. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted. From February 2010 to August 2020, 17 cervical scar deformity patients (9 males and 8 females, aged 8-42 years) who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University. The patients underwent skin and soft tissue expander (hereinafter referred to as expander) implantation in scapular region in stage Ⅰ procedures, and the free transplanted pre-expanded flaps were used to resurface the wounds followed by neck scar resection in the stage Ⅱ procedures. The wound size after neck scar release was 12.0 cm×6.0 cm-30.0 cm×24.0 cm, and the size of the flap ranged from 13.0 cm×7.5 cm to 31.5 cm×25.0 cm. The wounds in donor site of 15 patients were sutured directly, and the wounds in donor site of 2 patients were covered with full-thickness skin graft from abdominal area. The survival of flaps was observed after the operation of stage Ⅱ. Six months after stage Ⅱ surgery, Z plasty was performed to treat the incision scar contracture in 2 patients. For the 5 patients of overweight or bloating appearance in the 1/3 proximal flap underwent debulking procedures in 6-9 months after stage Ⅱsurgery. Before the stage Ⅰ surgery and six months after the last procedure (stage Ⅱ or stage Ⅲ), mental cervical angle (MCA) and cervical mandibular angle (CMA) were measured and the improvement of neck scar was evaluated by the angle values. The cervical motor function, skin color and texture in recipient areas, and scar in the donor sites assessed by Vancouver scar scale (VSS) were observed during follow-up. Data were statistically analyzed with paired sample t test. Results: After stage Ⅱ surgery, 15 patients' flaps survived well; venous crisis occurred in 2 flaps within 24 h after operation, and the flaps survived well after emergency exploration and thrombus removal+vascular re-anastomosis. Compared with the angle values of MCA of (126±12)° and CMA of (148±13)° of patients before the stage Ⅰ surgery, the angle values of MCA of (107±12)° and CMA of (123±11)° of patients in six months after the last procedure were significantly decreased (with t values of 10.68 and 6.54, respectively, P <0.05). After 2 years of follow-up, the patient's neck dorsiflexion, lateral bending, or other motor functions were not restricted; the color and texture of the flap in recipient site were close to those of the normal neck skin; the patient cases with VSS scores of scarring of 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 were 1, 3, 7, 5, and 1 case, respectively. Conclusions: The free transplantation of the pre-expanded scapular flaps can provide sufficient tissue for wound coverage after the release of cervical scar contracture deformity; the expanded skin tissue is featured by thin soft tissue and good pliability, which is conducive to restore the neck appearance; the donor sites are relatively covert with less tension, therefore, the treatment is an effective method for correcting the contracture in the neck.

Objective: To explore the efficacy and safety of Venetoclax combined with multidrug chemotherapy in patients with relapsed or refractory early T-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (R/R ETP-ALL) . Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 15 patients with R/R ETP-ALL who received Venetoclax combined with multidrug chemotherapy from December 2018 to February 2022. Among them, eight cases were combined with demethylated drugs, four cases were combined with demethylated drugs and HAAG chemotherapy regimen, two cases were combined with demethylated drugs and CAG regimen, and one case was combined with Cladribine. Specific usage and dosage of Venetoclax: 100 mg on day 1, 200 mg on day 2, 400 mg on day 3-28, orally; when combined with azole antifungal drugs, dosage was reduced to 100 mg/d. Results: Fifteen patients (10 males and 5 females) with R/R ETP-ALL were treated with Venetoclax and multidrug chemotherapy with a median age of 35 (12-42) years old. Of 4 refractory and 11 relapsed patients, the efficacy was evaluated on the 21th day following combined chemotherapy: the overall response rate, the complete response (CR) rate, and the CR with incomplete hematological recovery (CRi) rate were 67.7% (10/15), 60.0% (9/15), and 6.7% (1/15), respectively. For the overall study population, the 12-month overall survival (OS) rate was 60.0%, and the median OS was 17.7 months. The disease-free survival (DFS) rate of all CR patients at 12 months was 60.0%, and the median DFS did not reach. About 14 patients had Ⅲ-Ⅳ hematological toxicity, but these adverse reactions were all controllable. No adverse reaction in the nervous system and tumor lysis syndrome occurred in this study, and no adverse reaction of organs above grade Ⅲ occurred. Conclusion: Venetoclax combined with multidrug chemotherapy may be a safe and promising treatment option for patients with R/R ETP-ALL.

Chloroform is a volatile organic solvent and a contaminant that is slightly soluble in water, making the reversible separation of chloroform from water a critical and challenging task within the chemical and environmental industries. In this study, we present a newly developed coordination framework, [Zn(4-pmntd)(opa)] [4-pmntd, N , N '-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)naphthalene diimide; opa, o -phthalic acid], which demonstrates a high adsorption capacity for chloroform (2.5 mmol/g) and an excellent ability to separate chloroform from water. The effectiveness of chloroform extraction by Zn(4-pmntd)(opa) was confirmed through vapor sorption, grand canonical Monte Carlo simulation, and 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The porous framework was also utilized to create a filtration film using natural rubber, which successfully separated chloroform from water with a minimum test concentration of approximately 1 × 10 -6 mol/L and a chloroform purity of 99.2%. [Zn(4-pmntd)(opa)] therefore has significant potential for low-energy separation and recycling of chloroform from water under ambient conditions.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the effects of hydralazine on inflammation induced by spinal cord injury (SCI) in the central nervous system (CNS) and its mechanism in promoting the structural and functional recovery of the injured CNS., Methods: A compressive SCI mouse model was utilized for this investigation. Immunofluorescence and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction were employed to examine the levels of acrolein, acrolein-induced inflammation-related factors, and macrophages at the injury site and within the CNS. Western blotting was used to evaluate the activity of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway to study macrophage regulation. The neuropathic pain and motor function recovery were evaluated by glutamic acid decarboxylase 65/67 (GAD65/67), vesicular glutamate transporter 1 (VGLUT1), paw withdrawal response, and Basso Mouse Scale score. Nissl staining and Luxol Fast Blue (LFB) staining were performed to investigate the structural recovery of the injured CNS., Results: Hydralazine downregulated the levels of acrolein, IL-1β, and TNF-α in the spinal cord. The downregulation of acrolein induced by hydralazine promoted the activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway, leading to M2 macrophage polarization, which protected neurons against SCI-induced inflammation. Additionally, hydralazine promoted the structural recovery of the injured spinal cord area. Mitigating inflammation and oxidative stress by hydralazine in the animal model alleviated neuropathic pain and altered neurotransmitter expression. Furthermore, hydralazine facilitated motor function recovery following SCI. Nissl staining and LFB staining indicated that hydralazine promoted the structural recovery of the injured CNS., Conclusion: Hydralazine, an acrolein scavenger, significantly mitigated SCI-induced inflammation and oxidative stress in vivo, modulated macrophage activation, and consequently promoted the structural and functional recovery of the injured CNS., (© 2023. Background: For moderate ptosis associated with fair levator function (LF), the levator resection is the most commonly used procedure. However, the levator resection technique still has some disadvantages, such as residual lagophthalmos (RL), undercorrection, conjunctival prolapse, and eyelid contour abnormality. To solve the above problems, our team have made modifications to the levator resection technique in three aspects: releasing the levator muscle sufficiently, preserving the supporting structure of the conjunctiva, and placing multiple suture sites., Methods: Fifty-seven patients (81 eyes) underwent the modified levator resection technique and were enrolled in the study. Preoperative data collected included age, sex, margin reflex distance 1 (MRD1), and LF. Postoperative data collected included MRD1, RL, patient satisfaction, complications, and length of follow-up., Results: Mean MRD1 significantly increased from 1.45 ± 0.65 mm preoperatively to 3.57 ± 0.51 mm postoperatively. Mean LF significantly increased from 6.49 ± 1.12 mm preoperatively to 9.48 ± 1.39 mm postoperatively. Successful correction was obtained in 77 eyes (95.1%). Mean RL was 1.09 ± 0.57 and 72 eyes (88.9%) showed excellent or good eyelid closure function. Fifty-four patients (94.7%) were completely satisfied with the final result. Complications such as hematoma, infection, conjunctival prolapse, suture exposure, corneal abrasion, and keratitis were not found in any cases during follow-up., Conclusion: This modified levator resection technique introduced in this study is effective in correcting moderate congenital blepharoptosis, while minimizing RL, undercorrection, conjunctival prolapse, eyelid contour abnormality by releasing the levator muscle sufficiently, preserving the supporting structure of the conjunctiva, and placing multiple suture sites., Level of Evidence Iv: This journal requires that authors 42 assign a level of evidence to each article. The emergence of Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) represents a threat to public health. Polymyxin-B is generally considered a last-resort antibiotic. In this study, we isolated a carbapenem- and polymyxin-B resistant K. pneumoniae phage BL02 for the first time in Southwestern China and evaluated its biological characteristics and whole-genome sequence. Polymyxin-B resistant K. pneumoniae, (CK02), was isolated from the blood of a male with severe septic shock, and phage BL02 was screened and purified from the hospital sewage. BL02 could lyse 40 out of 46 CRKP isolates (86.96%) and has high activity in the pH range of 6-10 and the temperature range of 4-55 °C. The latency period of BL02 was about 10 min and the lysis period was about 50 min. The genome results showed that BL02 was a linear dsDNA with a total length of 175,595 bp and a GC content of 41.83%. A total of 275 ORFs were predicted and no tRNA, rRNA, drug resistance genes, or virulence genes were found in the genome. Phylogenetic analysis showed that BL02 belongs to the family Straboviridae. Treatment of infected mice with two antibiotics (tigecycline or ceftazidime/avibactam) resulted in 7-day survival rates of 28.57% and 42.86%, respectively. In contrast, the survival rate of mice in the single-dose BL02-treated group was 71.43%. Ultramicroporous materials can be highly effective at trace gas separations when they offer a high density of selective binding sites. Herein, we report that sql-NbOFFIVE-bpe-Cu , a new variant of a previously reported ultramicroporous square lattice, sql , topology material, sql-SIFSIX-bpe-Zn , can exist in two polymorphs. These polymorphs, sql-NbOFFIVE-bpe-Cu-AA ( AA ) and sql-NbOFFIVE-bpe-Cu-AB ( AB ), exhibit AAAA and ABAB packing of the sql layers, respectively. Whereas NbOFFIVE-bpe-Cu-AA ( AA ) is isostructural with sql-SIFSIX-bpe-Zn , each exhibiting intrinsic 1D channels, sql-NbOFFIVE-bpe-Cu-AB ( AB ) has two types of channels, the intrinsic channels and extrinsic channels between the sql networks. Gas and temperature induced transformations of the two polymorphs of sql-NbOFFIVE-bpe-Cu were investigated by pure gas sorption, single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), variable temperature powder X-ray diffraction (VT-PXRD), and synchrotron PXRD. We observed that the extrinsic pore structure of AB resulted in properties with potential for selective C 3 H 4 /C 3 H 6 separation. Subsequent dynamic gas breakthrough measurements revealed exceptional experimental C 3 H 4 /C 3 H 6 selectivity (270) and a new benchmark for productivity (118 mmol g -1 ) of polymer grade C 3 H 6 (purity > 99.99%) from a 1:99 C 3 H 4 /C 3 H 6 mixture. Structural analysis, gas sorption studies, and gas adsorption kinetics enabled us to determine that a binding "sweet spot" for C 3 H 4 in the extrinsic pores is behind the benchmark separation performance. Density-functional theory (DFT) calculations and Canonical Monte Carlo (CMC) simulations provided further insight into the binding sites of C 3 H 4 and C 3 H 6 molecules within these two hybrid ultramicroporous materials, HUMs. These results highlight, to our knowledge for the first time, how pore engineering through the study of packing polymorphism in layered materials can dramatically change the separation performance of a physisorbent.

Chiral metal-organic materials (CMOMs), can offer molecular binding sites that mimic the enantioselectivity exhibited by biomolecules and are amenable to systematic fine-tuning of structure and properties. Herein, we report that the reaction of Ni(NO 3 ) 2 , S -indoline-2-carboxylic acid ( S -IDECH), and 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) afforded a homochiral cationic diamondoid, dia , network, [Ni( S -IDEC)(bipy)(H 2 O)][NO 3 ], CMOM-5 . Composed of rod building blocks (RBBs) cross-linked by bipy linkers, the activated form of CMOM-5 adapted its pore structure to bind four guest molecules, 1-phenyl-1-butanol (1P1B), 4-phenyl-2-butanol (4P2B), 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanol (MPE), and methyl mandelate (MM), making it an example of a chiral crystalline sponge (CCS). Chiral resolution experiments revealed enantiomeric excess, ee , values of 36.2-93.5%. The structural adaptability of CMOM-5 enabled eight enantiomer@ CMOM-5 crystal structures to be determined. Background: As periorbital aesthetic commonly improved in blepharoptosis patients after correction surgery, the aim of this study was to elaborate the brow-eyelid continuum changes in moderate-severe ptosis patients who underwent conjoint fascial sheath suspension systematically., Methods: Patients with moderate-severe ptosis who underwent conjoint fascial sheath suspension were assessed by using pre- and post-operative digital photographs in the primary gaze position of the eye. The main outcome measurements included marginal reflex distance1 (MRD1), palpebral fissure height (PFH), eyebrow position, the symmetry of face and the horizontal forehead lines condition., Results: There were 43 patients (53 eyelids) in our study, including 33 unilateral and 10 bilateral patients. The mean levator function was 3.00 ± 1.07 mm. Before surgery, the mean MRD1 and PFH were 0.60 ± 1.14 mm and 6.75 ± 1.71 mm, respectively. The mean eyebrow height at medial, center, lateral position was 33.16 ± 3.95 mm, 35.99 ± 4.02 mm and 34.35 ± 4.80 mm, respectively. It was found that MRD1 and PFH symmetry both were 23.26% and eyebrow symmetry was 62.79%. For forehead wrinkles, 48.84% of the patients was mild, 34.88% was moderate, and 16.28% was severe. The average follow-up was 12.78 months (ranged from 12 to 18 months). One month after surgery, the mean MRD1 and PFH were 5.68 ± 0.86 mm, 11.61 ± 0.97 mm, respectively, both of which improved significantly (P < 0.0001). The mean eyebrow height at medial, center, lateral position descended to 28.22 ± 4.77 mm (P = 0.017), 31.41 ± 4.58 mm (P = 0.033) and 30.28 ± 3.41 mm (P = 0.018), respectively. The result showed that the rate of patients with MRD1 symmetry was 32.56%, PFH symmetry was 30.23%, and eyebrow symmetry was 90.7%. For forehead wrinkles, 69.77% was mild and 30.23% was moderate. Then, patients' eyebrow gradually elevated, while their upper eyelid dropped. At the last follow-up, the mean MRD1 and PFH were 3.83 ± 0.98 mm and 9.84 ± 1.56 mm, respectively. The mean eyebrow height at medial, center, lateral position improved to 30.52 ± 4.59 mm (P = 0.031), 32.40 ± 4.68 mm (P = 0.033), 31.19 ± 4.16 mm (P = 0.028), respectively. The patients with MRD1 symmetry accounted for 86.05%, PFH symmetry 86.05%, and eyebrow symmetry 90.7%. Aim: We aimed to identify potent CpG signatures predicting temozolomide (TMZ) response in glioblastomas (GBMs) that do not have the glioma-CpG island methylator phenotype (G-CIMP) but have a methylated promoter of MGMT (me MGMT ). Materials & methods: Different datasets of non-G-CIMP me MGMT GBMs with molecular and clinical data were analyzed. Results: A panel of 77 TMZ efficacy-related CpGs and a seven-CpG risk signature were identified and validated for distinguishing differential outcomes to radiotherapy plus TMZ versus radiotherapy alone in non-G-CIMP me MGMT GBMs. An integrated classification scheme was also proposed for refining a MGMT -based TMZ-guiding approach in all G-CIMP-GBMs. Conclusion: The CpG signatures may serve as promising predictive biomarker candidates for guiding optimal TMZ usage in non-G-CIMP me MGMT GBMs.

Although crystal engineering strategies are generally well explored in the context of multicomponent crystals (cocrystals) formed by neutral coformers (molecular cocrystals), cocrystals comprised of one or more salts (ionic cocrystals, ICCs) are understudied. We herein address the design, preparation, and structural characterization of ICCs formed by phenolic moieties, a common group in natural products and drug molecules. Organic and inorganic bases were reacted with the following phenolic coformers: phenol, resorcinol, phloroglucinol, 4-methoxyphenol, and 4-isopropylphenol. Nine ICCs were crystallized, each of them sustained by the phenol-phenolate supramolecular heterosynthon (PhOH···PhO - ). Such ICCs are of potential utility, and there are numerous examples of phenolic compounds that are biologically active, some of which suffer from low aqueous solubility. The propensity to form ICCs sustained by the PhOH···PhO - supramolecular heterosynthon was evaluated through a combination of Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) mining, structural characterization of nine novel ICCs, and calculation of interaction energies. Our analysis of these 9 ICCs and the 41 relevant entries archived in the CSD revealed that phenol groups can reliably form ICCs through charge-assisted PhOH···PhO - interactions. This conclusion is supported by hydrogen-bond strength calculations derived from CrystalExplorer that reveal the PhOH···PhO - interaction to be around 3 times stronger than the phenol-phenol hydrogen bond. Background: Fifty percent of Asians are born without a supratarsal fold (also called single eyelid), and double eyelid blepharoplasty is one of the most commonly performed and most popular facial cosmetic surgeries in the Asian population. However, patients with single eyelid frequently present with concomitant mild blepharoptosis (degree of ptosis, ≤2 mm), which often fails to cause the attention of surgeons and misses correction., Methods: A retrospective study of all patients who underwent double eyelid blepharoplasty and blepharoptosis correction simultaneously with the modified levator aponeurosis plication technique was performed from June of 2017 to June of 2020., Results: A total of 108 patients (155 eyelids) underwent double eyelid blepharoplasty and blepharoptosis correction simultaneously with the modified levator aponeurosis plication technique and were enrolled in the study. The average follow-up period was 11.8 ± 4.5 months. There was a statistically significant difference between the preoperative margin reflex distance 1 (MRD1) and postoperative MRD1 (2.93 ± 0.37 vs 4.21 ± 0.39 mm, P = 0.000), and the mean MRD1 improvement was 1.28 ± 0.50 mm. Sufficient correction was obtained in 148 eyelids (95.5%), whereas undercorrection was observed in 5 eyelids (3.2%) and overcorrection was observed in 2 eyelids (1.3%). One hundred two patients (94.4%) were completely satisfied with the final result.All patients had smooth and elegant upper eyelid margin curve, and no patients complained of distortion of the eyelid margin contour and foreign body sensation.There were no cases of hematoma, infection, suture exposure, corneal abrasion, and keratitis in any patient., Conclusions: This modified levator aponeurosis plication introduced in this study is a simple and effective method for creating double-eyelid crease and correcting mild blepharoptosis simultaneously, and provides a satisfactory outcome. Background: Blepharoptosis is defined as an abnormally low-positioned upper eyelid margin in the primary gaze position, which results in cosmetic discomfort and functional visual dysfunction. Recurrence is one of the common complications after ptosis correction and requires further revision. Conjoint fascial sheath (CFS) suspension has become increasingly popular for ptosis. In this article, we described our experience of CFS suspension in the treatment of recurrent blepharoptosis and evaluated the postoperative outcomes so as to guide the clinical application of CFS suspension., Methods: Thirty-eight patients (48 eyelids) who had recurrent blepharoptosis and received CFS suspension were included in this study. Before the surgery, the degree of ptosis and levator function were assessed. The postoperative evaluation consisted of the correction effect, eyelid symmetry, protective closure function of eyelid, and surgical complications., Results: At the final follow-up, 46 eyelids (95.8%) showed an ideal correction, of which 24 eyelids (50%) showed sufficient correction and 22 eyelids (45.8%) showed normal correction. The remaining 2 eyelids (4.2%) showed under-correction. Among all 38 patients, 26 patients (68.4%) achieved good symmetry, and 10 patients (26.3%) achieved fair symmetry, while only 2 patients (5.3%) showed poor symmetry. Recovery time of eyelid protective closure function was 3.9 ± 1.04 months (range, 2.5-6 months). There were no complications except residual lagophthalmos (9 eyelids) residual conjunctival prolapse (10 eyelids)., Conclusion: CFS suspension is an effective method for the correction of recurrent blepharoptosis due to its sufficient correction effect, recovery of eyelid protective closure function, and less complication rate., Level of Evidence Iv: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Structural changes at the active site of an enzyme induced by binding to a substrate molecule can result in enhanced activity in biological systems. Herein, we report that the new hybrid ultramicroporous material sql-SIFSIX-bpe-Zn exhibits an induced fit binding mechanism when exposed to acetylene, C 2 H 2 . The resulting phase change affords exceptionally strong C 2 H 2 binding that in turn enables highly selective C 2 H 2 /C 2 H 4 and C 2 H 2 /CO 2 separation demonstrated by dynamic breakthrough experiments. sql-SIFSIX-bpe-Zn was observed to exhibit at least four phases: as-synthesised (α); activated (β); and C 2 H 2 induced phases (β' and γ). sql-SIFSIX-bpe-Zn-β exhibited strong affinity for C 2 H 2 at ambient conditions as demonstrated by benchmark isosteric heat of adsorption (Q st ) of 67.5 kJ mol -1 validated through in situ pressure gradient differential scanning calorimetry (PG-DSC). Further, in situ characterisation and DFT calculations provide insight into the mechanism of the C 2 H 2 induced fit transformation, binding positions and the nature of host-guest and guest-guest interactions., (© 2021 The Authors. Objective: To explore the clinical effects of follicle unit extraction (FUE) transplantation combined with recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor (rb-bFGF) gel and minoxidil tincture in treating secondary cicatricial alopecia (hereinafter referred to as cicatricial alopecia). Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted. According to the different treatment methods, 50 cicatricial alopecia patients who met the inclusion criteria and only underwent FUE transplantation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from March 2013 to April 2017 were recruited into FUE alone group (26 males and 24 females, aged (28±13) years), and 50 cicatricial alopecia patients who met the inclusion criteria and underwent FUE transplantation+rb-bFGF gel during 1 to 14 days after surgery+minoxidil tincture during 15 to 180 days after surgery in this hospital from May 2017 to April 2020 were recruited into FUE+rb-bFGF+minoxidil group (32 males and 18 females, aged (27±9) years). Hair loss rates in post surgery month (PSM) 3 and 6, hair survival rates and satisfaction rates of patients in PSM 12, and the adverse effect rates of patients in the 2 groups within PSM 12 were observed and calculated. Data were statistically analyzed with chi-square test, Fisher's exact probability test, and independent sample t test. Results: In PSM 3 and 6, the hair loss rates of patients in FUE alone group were significantly higher than those in FUE+rb-bFGF+minoxidil group, respectively ( t =70.850, 42.610, P <0.01). In PSM 12, the hair survival rate of patients in FUE+rb-bFGF+minoxidil group was (91.0±2.8)%, which was significantly higher than (80.9±6.9)% in FUE alone group ( t =9.665, P <0.01). In PSM 12, 25 patients were very satisfied, 12 patients were fairly satisfied, 10 patients were slightly satisfied, 2 patients were not satisfied, and 1 patient was very unsatisfied in FUE alone group; 42 patients were very satisfied, 5 patients were fairly satisfied, and 3 patients were slightly satisfied in FUE+rb-bFGF+minoxidil group. The satisfaction rate of patients in FUE alone group was 74% (37/50), which was significantly lower than 94% (47/50) in FUE+rb-bFGF+minoxidil group ( P <0.01). Within PSM 12, compared with those in FUE+rb-bFGF+minoxidil group, the incidence rates of folliculitis, abnormal growth direction, and skin necrosis in transplant site were not obviously changed in FUE alone group ( P >0.05), while the incidence of scar in donor site was significantly higher ( P <0.05). Conclusions: Compared with FUE transplantation alone, FUE transplantation combined with rb-bFGF and minoxidil can reduce the hair loss rate, improve the hair survival rate and the satisfaction rate of patients with cicatricial alopecia after FUE transplantation, with less adverse effects, thus are good for cicatricial alopecia treatment.

Objective: To observe the clinical effects of fine follicular unit extraction (FUE) and transplantation in repairing cicatricial eyebrow defects. Methods: The retrospective observational study was conducted. From September 2013 to January 2020, 58 patients (36 males and 22 females, aged 12-40 years) underwent fine FUE and transplantation to treat cicatricial eyebrow defects in the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University. The hair survival rate in 10 months post operation was observed and calculated, and the curative effect was graded. Visual Analogue Scale was used to evaluate patients' satisfaction in one year post operation. The adverse reactions during operation and within one year post operation were recorded, and the adverse reaction incidence was calculated. Results: The hair survival rate of 58 patients in 10 months post operation was (84±5)%. Four patients (6.9%) had good curative effect, 54 patients (93.1%) had excellent curative effect in effect evaluation. Four patients (6.90%) were moderately satisfied, 5 patients (8.62%) were fairly satisfied, and 49 patients (84.48%) were very satisfied in satisfaction evaluation. Twelve patients had 14 adverse reactions, with an incidence of 24.14%. Conclusions: Fine FUE and transplantation can provide good cosmetic results for patients with cicatricial eyebrow defects, with high satisfaction of patient and few adverse reactions.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between pretransplant serum ferritin (SF) level and prolonged or prolonged isolated thrombocytopenia (PT) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT)., Methods: The clinical data of 35 patients with PT after allo-HSCT were retrospectively analyzed, and 35 patients were matched according to age and sex as a controls from 424 allo-HSCT patients with normal platelet count. The serum ferritin level before the transplantation was analyzed. The potential risk factors were analyzed by chi-square test and Fisher's exact test as well as univariate and multivariate logistic regression. The survival curve was estimated by the Kaplan-Meier model to explore its clinical significance. In addition, ROC curve was used to verify the predictive power of SF., Results: Compared with control group, the SF level in the PT group before transplantation significantly increased (P=0.001). Multivariate analysis results showed that SF level before transplantation was a risk factor for prolonged thrombocytopenia after HSCT, and patients with SF≥1000 ng / ml showed a higher risk of death (P=0.014). ROC curve showed that SF level could be used as a predictor of prolonged thrombocytopenia after allo-HSCT., Conclusion: The SF level before allo-HSCT relates with occurrence and prognosis of PT in patients after allo-HSCT. Detection of SF level can provide guidance for the intervention of prolonged thrombocytopenia after HSCT.

A series of increasingly large silver nanoclusters with a varied combination of Archimedean and/or Platonic solid arrangements was constructed using a flexible trifurcate TiL 3 (L = Salicylic acid or 5-fluorosalicylic acid) metalloligand: Ag 4 @Ag 4 @Ti 4 ( PTC-85 ), Ag 12 @Ti 4 ( PTC-86 ), Ag 4 @Ag 6 @Ag 12 @Ti 4 ( PTC-87 ), Ag 6 @Ag 24 @Ag 12 @Ti 4 ( PTC-88 ), and Ag 12 @Ag 24 @Ti 4 ( PTC-89 ). The silver nanoclusters are each capped by four TiL 3 moieties, thereby forming {Ti 4 } supertetrahedra with average edge lengths ranging from ∼8.12 Å to ∼17.37 Å. Such {Ti 4 } moieties further induce the tetrahedral geometry of the encapsulated silver nanoclusters. These atomically precise metallic clusters were found to be ultrastable with respect to air for several months, and to water for more than 3 days, due to the stabilizing effects of the TiL 3 metalloligand. Moreover, the obtained clusters exhibit nonlinear optical (NLO) effects in optical limiting tests and also temperature-dependent photoluminescent properties. This work provides an interesting metalloligand method not only to induce the spatial growth of metallic clusters to achieve highly symmetric structures, but also to enhance their stability which is crucial for future application.

Closed-to-open structural transformations in flexible coordination networks are of potential utility in gas storage and separation. Herein, we report the first example of a flexible SiF 6 2- -pillared square grid material, [Cu(SiF 6 )(L) 2 ] n (L = 1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl)benzene), SIFSIX-23-Cu . SIFSIX-23-Cu exhibits reversible switching between nonporous ( β1 ) and several porous ( α , γ1 , γ2 , and γ3 ) phases triggered by exposure to N 2 , CO 2 , or H 2 O. In addition, heating β1 to 433 K resulted in irreversible transformation to a closed polymorph, β2 . Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the phase transformations are enabled by rotation and geometrical contortion of L. Density functional theory calculations indicated that L exhibits a low barrier to rotation (as low as 8 kJmol -1 ) and a rather flat energy surface. In situ neutron powder diffraction studies provided further insight into these sorbate-induced phase changes. SIFSIX-23-Cu combines stability in water for over a year, high CO 2 uptake (ca. 216 cm 3 /g at 195 K), and good thermal stability.

We present the ultralow-temperature specific heat and thermal conductivity measurements on single crystals of triangular-lattice compound EtMe&#95;{3}Sb[Pd(dmit)&#95;{2}]&#95;{2}, which has long been considered as a gapless quantum spin liquid candidate. In specific heat measurements, a finite linear term is observed, consistent with the previous work [S. Yamashita et al., Nat. Commun. 2, 275 (2011)NCAOBW2041-172310.1038/ncomms1274]. However, we do not observe a finite residual linear term in the thermal conductivity measurements, and the thermal conductivity does not change in a magnetic field of 6 T. These results are in sharp contrast to previous thermal conductivity measurements on EtMe&#95;{3}Sb[Pd(dmit)&#95;{2}]&#95;{2} [M. Yamashita et al., Science 328, 1246 (2010)SCIEAS0036-807510.1126/science.1188200], in which a huge residual linear term was observed and attributed to highly mobile gapless excitations, likely the spinons of a quantum spin liquid. In this context, the true ground state of EtMe&#95;{3}Sb[Pd(dmit)&#95;{2}]&#95;{2} has to be reconsidered.

The selective separation of ethanol/acetonitrile by porous materials has rarely been observed owing to their similar physicochemical properties. In this work, we report a new coordination network, [Cu 2 (4-pmntd) 2 (opd) 2 ](4-pmntd = N , N '-bis(4-pyridymethy)naphthalene diimide, opd = disodium 1,2-benzenedicarboxylate), which exhibits selective separation of ethanol over acetonitrile. A general feature of unconventional superconductors is the existence of a superconducting dome in the phase diagram. Here we report a series of discrete superconducting phases in the simplest iron-based superconductor, FeSe thin flakes, by continuously tuning the carrier concentration through the intercalation of Li and Na ions with a solid ionic gating technique. Such discrete superconducting phases are robust against the substitution of 20% S for Se, but they are vulnerable to the substitution of 2% Cu for Fe, highlighting the importance of the iron site being intact. The superconducting phase diagram for FeSe derivatives is given, which is distinct from that of other unconventional superconductors.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown promise for use in cell therapy, and due to their tumor tropism can serve as vehicles for delivering therapeutic agents to tumor sites. Because interleukin-8 (IL-8) is known to mediate the protumor effect of MSCs, elimination of IL-8 secretion by MSCs may enhance their safety for use in cancer gene therapy. However, little is known concerning the effect of endogenously secreted IL-8 on MSCs. We performed studies using placenta-derived MSCs (PMSCs) to determine whether knockdown of IL-8 would influence their biological activity. We first verified that IL-8 and its membrane receptor CXCR2, but not CXCR1, were highly expressed in PMSCs. We then employed lentivirus-mediated small hairpin RNA interference to generate stable IL-8-silenced PMSCs, which displayed a variety of characteristic senescent phenotypes. We observed that at day 9 post-transfection, IL-8-silenced PMSCs had become larger and displayed a more flattened appearance when compared with their controls. Moreover, their proliferation, colony forming unit-fibroblast formation, adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation, and immunosuppressive potentials were significantly impaired. Enhanced senescence-associated β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal) activity and specific global gene expression profiles confirmed that IL-8 silencing evoked the senescence process in PMSCs. Increased levels of p-Akt and decreased levels of FOXO3a protein expression suggested that reactive oxygen species played a role in the initiation and maintenance of senescence in IL-8-silenced PMSCs. Notably, the majority of CXCR2 ligands were downregulated in presenescent IL-8-silenced PMSCs but upregulated in senescent cells, indicating an antagonistic pleiotropy of the IL-8/CXCR2 signaling pathway in PMSCs. This effect may promote the proliferation of young cells and accelerate senescence of old cells.

We have demonstrated for the first time that isostructural homochiral metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be synthesized directly from chiral ligands and indirectly from achiral ligands via spontaneous resolution combined with cooperative chirality induction, respectively. Moreover, the usage of different ligands leads to distinct proton conduction behaviors.

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been widely proven effective for therapeutic angiogenesis in ischemia animal models as well as clinical vascular diseases. Because of the invasive method, limited resources, and aging problems of adult tissue-derived MSCs, more perinatal tissue-derived MSCs have been isolated and studied as promising substitutable MSCs for cell transplantation. However, fewer studies have comparatively studied the angiogenic efficacy of MSCs derived from different tissues sources. Here, we evaluated whether the in-situ environment would affect the angiogenic potential of MSCs., Methods: We harvested MSCs from adult bone marrow (BMSCs), adipose tissue (AMSCs), perinatal umbilical cord (UMSCs), and placental chorionic villi (PMSCs), and studied their "MSC identity" by flow cytometry and in-vitro trilineage differentiation assay. Then we comparatively studied their endothelial differentiation capabilities and paracrine actions side by side in vitro., Results: Our data showed that UMSCs and PMSCs fitted well with the minimum standard of MSCs as well as BMSCs and AMSCs. Interestingly, we found that MSCs regardless of their tissue origins could develop similar endothelial-relevant functions in vitro, including producing eNOS and uptaking ac-LDL during endothelial differentiation in spite of their feeble expression of endothelial-related genes and proteins. Additionally, we surprisingly found that BMSCs and PMSCs could directly form tubular structures in vitro on Matrigel and their conditioned medium showed significant proangiogenic bioactivities on endothelial cells in vitro compared with those of AMSCs and UMSCs. Besides, several angiogenic genes were upregulated in BMSCs and PMSCs in comparison with AMSCs and UMSCs. Moreover, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay further confirmed that BMSCs secreted much more VEGF, and PMSCs secreted much more HGF and PGE2., Conclusions: Our study demonstrated the heterogeneous proangiogenic properties of MSCs derived from different tissue origins, and the in vivo isolated environment might contribute to these differences. Our study suggested that MSCs derived from bone marrow and placental chorionic villi might be preferred in clinical application for therapeutic angiogenesis.

Unprecedented Anderson-like alkoxo-polyoxovanadate [V6O6(OCH3)9(μ6-SO4)(COO)3](2-) polyanions can serve as 3-connected second building units (SBUs) that assemble with dicarboxylate or tricarboxylate ligands to form a new family of metal organic tetrahedrons of V4E6 and V4F4 type (V = vertex, E = edge, and F = face). To our knowledge, this alkoxo-polyoxovanadate-based SBU is the first ever reported.
