The study of pathological processes in cells carrying mutations should be carried out in comparison with a healthy control group. Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), which is caused by a mutation in the MEFV gene, is predominantly found in people of Armenian nationality with the prevalence of 14–100 per 10000. We have obtained induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from Armenian healthy patient, which will be included as a control group in the study of this disease. iPSCs rapidly proliferate in colonies of cells with a typical pluripotent-like morphology, have a normal karyotype (46,XX). iPSCs express pluripotency markers (OCT4, SOX2, TRA-1–60, NANOG) and are able to give derivatives of three germ layers.

Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA) has a diplomacy purpose. A cultural diplomacy is one of the main purposes in BIPA Program. This study was aimed to describe an Indonesian language and cultural diplomatic process in Tunisia, introduction of Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages to the student by culinary, and introduction of Lumpia, Pukis, and Risoles to promote BIPA class in University of Ezzitouna, Tunisia. The data were collected via study case method. A researcher took a part in the even to collect and analyze the research data. A diplomatic mission to introduce language and culture of Indonesia could be showed by culinary. The culinary such as Lumpia, Pukis, and Risoles were popular in Indonesia. They also had a similar taste with Tunisian culinary. This way became one of the BIPA’s support to promote an Indonesian culture. A student in University of Ezzitouna interested to join BIPA class after trying to taste the culinary. As a multicultural country, Indonesia has big challenges to maintain the harmony and unity. Nowadays, intolerance and acute extremism are rampant that spread to a group of people. These problems could disrupt national stability and inter-religious harmonies. To prevent divisions and wars between religious believers, the Ministry of Religion is aggressively promoting religious moderation in every line of society. The religious moderation was often conveyed by religious leaders, government, and leaders of sciences. The focus of this research is the ideological hegemony of Islam Nusantara in the speech which is delivered by Dr. KH. Nadirsyah Hosen, LL.M, MA., Ph.D (Gus Nadir). The data are fragments of the oration discourse that represent the hegemony of Islam Nusantara, while the data source used is a scientific oration discourse delivered by Nadirsyah Hosen at the 2nd Annual Conference for Moslem. Meanwhile, the data analysis method used Norman Fairclouh's Critical Discourse Analysis model, the first stage was description. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that Gus Nadir represented the Islam Nusantara (Islamic archipelago's ideologies) in scientific orations with the theme of religious moderation through classification, rewording, overwording, and metaphors.

This paper investigates the use of a new sliding mode control for the output voltage regulation of boost converter under parametric uncertainties of load resistance and input voltage. Owing to the fact that the proposed scheme employs the adaptation law; therefore, apriori knowledge about the upper bound value of uncertainties is not required while selecting the controller gains. Moreover, the stability analysis of the closed-loop system guarantees the finite-time convergence of output voltage to the desired value while ensuring robustness against uncertainties. The numerical simulation and hardware analysis illustrate the effective performance of the developed strategy.

Objective: To determine to what extent accelerometer-based arm, leg and trunk activity is associated with sensorimotor impairments, walking capacity and other factors in subacute stroke. Design: Cross-sectional study. Patients: Twenty-six individuals with stroke (mean age 55.4 years, severe to mild motor impairment). Methods: Data on daytime activity were collected over a period of 4 days from accelerometers placed on the wrists, ankles and trunk. A forward stepwise linear regression was used to determine associations between free-living activity, clinical and demographic variables. Results: Arm motor impairment (Fugl-Meyer Assessment) and walking speed explained more than 60% of the variance in daytime activity of the more-affected arm, while walking speed alone explained 60% of the more-affected leg activity. Activity of the less-affected arm and leg was associated with arm motor impairment (R2 = 0.40) and independence in walking (R2 = 0.59). Arm activity ratio was associated with arm impairment (R2 = 0.63) and leg activity ratio with leg impairment (R2 = 0.38) and walking speed (R2 = 0.27). Walking-related variables explained approximately 30% of the variance in trunk activity. Conclusion: Accelerometer-based free-living activity is dependent on motor impairment and walking capacity. The most relevant activity data were obtained from more-affected limbs. Motor impairment and walking speed can provide some information about real-life daytime activity levels.

Buah okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) termasuk dalam suku Malvaceae, kini menjadi primadona dalam pengobatan tradisional khususnya untuk menangani diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Masyarakat menggunakan air rendaman buah okra untuk diminum sebagai obat tradisional. Buah okra berasal dari Afrika, dan kini tersebar luas di seluruh dunia. Penderita diabetes mellitus harus mengkonsumsi obat antidiabetes sepanjang hidupnya, dan sering menimbulkan beberapa efek samping, diantaranya kembung, mual, dan diare. Pencarian obat yang berasal dari alam masih terus dilakukan dengan tujuan dapat memperbaiki kualitas hidup penderita, mengurangi efek samping dan menjaga kadar gula darah dalam kondisi normal. Buah okra diekstraksi dengan dua metode, yaitu secara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dan dilakukan perendaman dalam air suling selama 4 jam. Pengujian aktivitas inhibitor alfa-glukosidase dilakukan secara in vitro menggunakan metode kolorimetri pada panjang gelombang 400,5 nm, akarbose digunakan sebagai pembanding. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak air dan ekstrak etanol buah okra mampu menghambat aktivitas enzim α-glukosidase dengan nilai IC50 berturut-turut sebesar 32,607 mg/ml, dan 57,502 mg/ml. Nilai IC50 zat aktif Akarbose adalah 10,95 mg/ml. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak air dan ekstrak etanol buah okra berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai obat herbal penurun kadar gula darah.

Corrosion study of conventional reinforcement in concrete has been accorded wider importance in the last few decades based on the losses occurring in monitoring concrete structures. It is well known that the presence of chloride ions is one of the most significant factors contributing to the corrosion of reinforcing steel. Practically, it is observed that in the marine environment, the activating substances such as chlorides that penetrate the steel can counteract the passivity locally when the electrolyte is highly alkaline. The concrete cover is changed chemically when chloride ionspenetrate into the material, whereupon the pore solution is neutralized. Based on numerous studies, it is evident that steel fibers and glass fibers have less impact on cracked sections in a chloride environment and can oppose chloride infiltration. Glass fibers, when exposed to repeated freeze and thaw conditions, protect the passive layer. This review article highlights the corrosion behavior of reinforced concrete involving various factors such as cracking behavior, transportation, electric conductivity, resistivity, and diffusion of chloride ions in the presence of steel and glass fibers.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh variabel ukuran perusahaan dan tingkat modal intelektual terhadap pengungkapan modal intelektual dengan komisaris independen sebagai variabel moderating. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu 42 perusahaan perbankan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) periode 2014-2016. Sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan diperoleh 102 unit analisis yang menjadi objek penelitian. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi moderasi dengan uji nilai selisih mutlak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ukuran perusahaan berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap pengungkapan modal intelektual. Tingkat modal intelektual tidak berpengaruh terhadap pengungkapan modal intelektual. Komisaris independen memoderasi secara signifikan pengaruh ukuran perusahaan terhadap pengungkapan modal intelektual namun dengan arah negatif dan memoderasi secara positif signifikan tingkat modal intelektual terhadap pengungkapan modal intelektual. Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu pengungkapan modal intelektual dipengaruhi oleh ukuran perusahaan dan tidak dipengaruhi oleh tingkat modal intelektual. Komisaris independen mampu memoderasi pengaruh ukuran perusahaan dan tingkat modal intelektual terhadap pengungkapan modal intelektual.

The present study was conducted on a total of 68 Tharparkar cattle (Bos indicus) at Cattle and Buffalo farm (Indian Veterinary Research Institute) from December 2016 to April 2017. The objective was to study the effect of skin and coat characteristics like coat colour, coat score (CS) coat thickness, hair density, hair length, hair diameter and weight of hair coat on growth (live body weights at birth, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months of age) and milk production (Lactation lengths, lactation milk yield) traits. Physiological parameters studied were skin temperature (ST), rectal temperature (RT) and respiration rate (RR). Animals were divided into 2 groups: light grey (LG) and dark grey (DG), on the basis of coat colour. Higher average body weights were found in light grey animals at 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months of age. An increase in coat score (higher coat score implies rough, long and a more wooly hair coat) tended to have a negative effect on body weight gain as well as on milk production. The average previous lactation yields of LG were higher than DG group. Cattle with lower hair densities (400 hair/cm2). Considering the results of the present study, it can be concluded that skin and coat characteristics can be used as a potential selection tool to improve growth and production potential of cattle especially in tropics.

Diazinon is metabolized in liver becomes diazoxon, an active metabolite form that can cause free radical raising that leads to lipid peroxidation. The result of lipid peroxidation is MDA. Soyflour has higher isoflavones than the other processed food of Glycine max L.This isoflavones donate its electron and hydrogen atom in lipid peroxidation so it can block the lipid peroxidation. The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effect of soy flour on MDA hepar level increase of male wistar rat induced by diazinon. The sample are divided into 5 groups which are Kn, K(-) group induced by diazinon 40mg/kgBW, K1, K2, K3 group given with soy flour 10%, 15%, and 20% orally, then induced by diazinon 40 mg/kgBW. Abstract The North Western Himalayan region, particularly the Kashmir valley, harbors a rich diversity of rice landraces, yet systematic studies on climate resilience are lacking. The present study was aimed at investigating the root traits and their interplay with shoot morphological and physiological traits under drought stress using seven indica and three japonica rice varieties released by SKUAST-Kashmir and their possible role in adaptive capacity to different environments. Significant variability was observed in root and shoot traits across the varieties. Root traits exhibited a wide phenotypic range, including rooting depth, fresh and dry weight, diameter, length, volume, surface area, and length density. Associations between root and shoot traits were identified, with notable correlations such as shoot weight with root shoot ratio, shoot length with root dry weight, diameter, and surface area, and tiller number with various root traits. Additionally, physiological traits like canopy temperature depression showed significant correlations with root depth and surface area. Principal component analysis (PCA) analysis grouped japonica type varieties together with a notable outlier, Chenab, due to its superior root traits among indica varieties. These findings emphasize the substantial contribution of root traits to productivity and advocate for their integration into varietal development processes. In view of the increasing evidences in crop plants about their role of root traits in defining plant productivity and reproductive fitness, study of root traits could provide valuable insights into the patterns of crop adaptation to diverse areas and growing environments.

Pod shattering is an undesirable process leading to loss of harvestable yields. In the present study, we sought to undertake the first comprehensive phenotyping in 254 bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes for pod shattering including various mechanistic aspects as well as assess natural variation in the germplasm set for 16 seed physical traits including shattering score. There was substantial variability in 16 pod physical traits in the material. Significant diversity of the material in respect of pod traits was indicated by the broad range and coefficient of variation (CV) values. Using Random Impact Assessment (RIA), we found substantial variability in pod shattering score in common bean genotypes indicating significant diversity. Shattering score had a mean value of 6.098 with a range of 1.07 to 9.13. Highest shattering score was recorded in WB-6, WB-20-247, and N-7 while the lowest value for shattering score was recorded in WB-1129 and WB-216. Shattering score was negatively correlated with pod thickness (r = -0.698) followed by ventral/dorsal length ratio (r = -0.468) and positively correlated with breadth/thickness ratio (r = 0.599) and string % (r = 0.590). The principal component analysis (PCA) concentrated 86.91% variability in the first five principal components, and the first two PCs accounted for 55.62% of the total variation.

As a harmful and non-degradable heavy metal, lead (Pb) is also toxic to aquatic organisms. This metal damages tissue and sensitive organs such as gills. A study dealt with the effect of Pb concentration and contact time on gill microanatomy structure of hard-lipped barb fish (Osteochilus hasselti). An experimental method was applied during study with Completely Randomized Design to test 4 concentrations of Pb, i.e 0 mg/L (P0), 8.93 mg/L (P1), 17.86 mg/L (P2) and 26.80 mg/L (P3), in quadruplicates. The gills were removed, and fixed in Bouin solution, from fish sampled twice in a month. The gills were subsequently processed in classical histology to obtain gill microanatomy structure damage data. The data were established from Pantung method, which were then analyzed with One-way ANOVA. The results showed that Pb damaged gills, mildly to severely, in form of oedema, hyperplatia, lamella fusions, and necrosis. Concentration levels and contact time affected microanatomy structure damage of gills. The increasing concentration levels and length of contact time did not gravely increase in damage.

Giant adrenal myelolipoma (AML) may cause severe symptoms. In contrast to the previous reports, laparoscopy may play a pivotal role in the management of giant AML. This report aims to discuss a case of giant AML managed successfully by laparoscopy. A 63-year-old male was found to have a giant (12 × 10 × 8 cm) left AML during a workup for left lower chest pain on imaging. laparoscopic excision of a left adrenal gland with the lesion was performed under general anesthesia. The patient was discharged from the hospital after 3 days uneventfully. AML is a benign tumor that is characterized by the presence of adipose tissue and hematopoietic elements. Myelolipomas are typically asymptomatic. AML diagnosis is based on imaging and blood workup. Small asymptomatic AML is usually managed conservatively, while symptomatic AML is managed with surgery. Even though an open approach is the standard option, laparoscopy, as a minimally invasive technique, in some centers may replace laparotomy. Laparoscopy can be a successful method for managing AML, even when they are large in size.
