There are various issues for CO2 flooding and storage in Shengli Oilfield, which are characterized by low light hydrocarbon content of oil and high miscible pressure, strong reservoir heterogeneity and low sweep efficiency, gas channeling and difficult whole-process control. Through laboratory experiments, technical research and field practice, the theory and technology of CO2 high pressure miscible flooding and storage are established. By increasing the formation pressure to 1.2 times the minimum miscible pressure, the miscibility of the medium-heavy components can be improved, the production percentage of oil in small pores can be increased, the displacing front developed evenly, and the swept volume expanded. Rapid high-pressure miscibility is realized through advanced pressure flooding and energy replenishment, and technologies of cascade water-alternating-gas (WAG), injection and production coupling and multistage chemical plugging are used for dynamic control of flow resistance, so as to obtain the optimum of oil recovery and CO2 storage factor. The research results have been applied to the Gao89-Fan142 in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) demonstration site, where the daily oil production of the block has increased from 254.6 t to 358.2 t, and the recovery degree is expected to increase by 11.6 percentage points in 15 years, providing theoretical and technical support for the large-scale development of CCUS.

This study presents the development and analysis of high damping rubber bearings (HDRBs) with enhanced stiffness properties to improve seismic isolation performance. The proposed HDRBs exhibit displacement-dependent nonlinear stiffness and significant damping effects, especially under large deformations caused by various seismic events. A deformation history integral model, calibrated with experimental data, is employed to accurately simulate the mechanical behavior and stiffness-damping characteristics of the HDRBs. The numerical simulations are validated through experimental tests, providing a solid basis for parameter design and performance assessment. The results show that the equivalent stiffness coefficient of the HDRBs increases with deformation amplitude, effectively limiting extreme deformations. Parametric analyses and case studies across a wide range of earthquake scenarios demonstrate that the enhanced stiffness and high damping effects of HDRBs significantly improve seismic isolation efficiency while controlling isolation layer displacement. The performance-based design methodology developed in this research effectively limits bearing deformation, thereby preventing potential superstructure failures. Moreover, the adaptive characteristics of the HDRBs allow for the adjustment of deformation levels according to seismic intensity, ensuring the structural safety of buildings under varying earthquake conditions.

The water drive reservoir in Shengli Oilfield has entered a stage of ultra-high water cut development, forming an advantageous flow channel for the water drive, resulting in the inefficient and ineffective circulation of injected water. Therefore, the distribution characteristics of water drive flow channels and their controlled residual oil in ultra-high water cut reservoirs are of great significance for treating water drive dominant flow channels and utilizing discontinuous residual oil. Through microscopic physical simulation of water flooding, color mixing recognition and image analysis technology were used to visualize the evolution characteristics of water flooding seepage channels and their changes during the control process. Research has shown that during the ultra-high water content period, the shrinkage of the water drive seepage channel forms a dominant seepage channel, forming a “seepage barrier” at the boundary of the dominant seepage channel, and dividing the affected area into the water drive dominant seepage zone and the seepage stagnation zone. The advantage of water flooding is that the oil displacement efficiency in the permeable zone is as high as 80.5%, and the remaining oil is highly dispersed. The water phase is almost a single-phase flow, revealing the reason for high water consumption in this stage. The remaining oil outside the affected area and within the stagnant flow zone accounts for 89.8% of the remaining oil, which has the potential to further improve oil recovery in the later stage of ultra-high water cut. For the first time, the redundancy index was proposed to quantitatively evaluate the control effect of liquid extraction and liquid flow direction on the dominant flow channels in water flooding. Experimental data showed that both liquid extraction and liquid flow direction can regulate the dominant flow channels in water flooding and improve oil recovery under certain conditions. Microscopic physical simulation experiments were conducted through the transformation of well network form in the later stage of ultra-high water content, which showed that the synergistic effect of liquid extraction and liquid flow direction can significantly improve the oil recovery effect, with an oil recovery rate of 68.02%, deepening the understanding of improving oil recovery rate in the later stage of ultra-high water content.

Leukemia is a life-threatening malignant tumor of the hematopoietic system. Currently, the main treatment modalities are chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. However, increased drug resistance due to decreased sensitivity of leukemia cells to chemotherapeutic drugs presents a major challenge in current treatments. Autophagy-associated proteins involved in autophagy initiation have now been shown to be involved in the development of various types of leukemia cells and are associated with drug resistance. Therefore, this review will explore the roles of autophagy-related proteins involved in four key autophagic processes: induction of autophagy and phagophore formation, phagophore extension, and autophagosome formation, on the development of various types of leukemias as well as drug resistance. Autophagy may become a promising therapeutic target for treating leukemia.

Abstract Background The growing prevalence of smartphone use among college students in China has led to health concerns, including De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis (DQT). However, the specific smartphone usage behaviors contributing to DQT remain poorly understood. This study aimed to explore the relationship between smartphone usage behaviors and DQT in college students. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with 937 students from various majors in Guangxi between September 2021 and April 2022. Participants completed an online questionnaire assessing smartphone usage behaviors and their association with DQT. The Finkelstein test was employed to diagnose DQT. Results Over half of the college students (52%) tested positive for DQT via Finkelstein’s test. Higher levels of smartphone usage time (6–8 h/day: OR = 4.454, 95%CI:1.662–12.229; ≥8 h/day: OR = 4.521, 95%CI:1.596–12.811), phone games (OR = 1.997, 95%CI:1.312–3.040), social media (OR = 2.263, 95%CI:1.795–3.833), and leisure activities (OR = 1.679, 95%CI:1.140–2.475) were significantly associated with an increased risk of DQT. Two specific gestures (Bilateral thumbs, BT: OR = 1.900, 95%CI:1.281–2.817; Bilateral thumbs-horizontal screen, BT-HS: OR = 1.872, 95%CI:1.244–2.818) and two screen sizes (5.0-5.5inch: OR = 2.064, 95%CI:1.108–3.846; 6.0-6.5inch: OR = 2.413, 95%CI:1.125–4.083) also exhibited a higher risk of DQT. Bilateral DQT was observed, with Gesture-BT identified as the primary risk factor. Conclusion Our findings suggest that increased smartphone usage time, phone games, social media, and leisure activities elevate the risk of DQT among college students. Furthermore, two specific gestures and two screen sizes were also linked to a heightened DQT risk. To mitigate DQT development, college students should reduce smartphone usage time and adopt appropriate gestures.

In this study, the reaction characteristics of reduction of calcined dolomite with ferrosilicon under argon flow to produce magnesium were studied by conducting experiments Pidgeon pellets were used to study the effect of reduced temperature, argon flow, and reduced time on the conversion of calcined dolomite reduction by ferrosilicon. The results show that the conversion significantly increases with the increase in the reduction temperature and reduction time. The conversion first increases and then decreases with the increase in argon flow. The highest conversion was obtained when the argon flow rate was 3 L·min−1, and a nearly spherical shape, nanoscale magnesium powder was obtained. Then the characters of the circulating argon entrainment process were numerically studied by ANSYS Fluent 17. A physical model of multilayer pellet arrangement was established, and a numerical calculation model of chemical reaction, radiation, heat conduction, and convection heat transfer was constructed. This confirms that high-temperature argon can effectively strengthen the heat exchange between pellets, improve the heat transfer efficiency, and facilitate the pellets to react quickly. When the conversion is 80%, the production efficiency increased by about 28.6%. In addition, the magnesium production efficiency showed an increase tendency with the increase of the argon inlet flow rate.

The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor and tumor-associated antigen abnormally expressed in various types of cancer, including breast, ovarian, and gastric cancer. HER2 overexpression is highly correlated with increased tumor aggressiveness, poorer prognosis, and shorter overall survival. Consequently, multiple HER2-targeted therapies have been developed and approved; however, only a subset of patients benefit from these treatments, and relapses are common. More potent and durable HER2-targeted therapies are desperately needed for patients with HER2-positive cancers. In this study, we developed a lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based therapy formulated with mRNA encoding a novel HER2-CD3-Fc bispecific antibody (bsAb) for HER2-positive cancers. The LNPs efficiently transfected various types of cells, such as HEK293S, SKOV-3, and A1847, leading to robust and sustained secretion of the HER2-CD3-Fc bsAb with high binding affinity to both HER2 and CD3. The bsAb induced potent T-cell-directed cytotoxicity, along with secretion of IFN-λ, TNF-α, and granzyme B, against various types of HER2-positive tumor cells in vitro, including A549, NCI-H460, SKOV-3, A1847, SKBR3, and MDA-MB-231. The bsAb-mediated antitumor effect is highly specific and strictly dependent on its binding to HER2, as evidenced by the gained resistance of A549 and A1847 her2 knockout cells and the acquired sensitivity of mouse 4T1 cells overexpressing the human HER2 extracellular domain (ECD) or epitope-containing subdomain IV to the bsAb-induced T cell cytotoxicity. The bsAb also relies on its binding to CD3 for T-cell recruitment, as ablation of CD3 binding abolished the bsAb’s ability to elicit antitumor activity. Importantly, intratumoral injection of the HER2-CD3-Fc mRNA-LNPs triggers a strong antitumor response and completely blocks HER2-positive tumor growth in a mouse xenograft model of human ovarian cancer. These results indicate that the novel HER2-CD3-Fc mRNA-LNP-based therapy has the potential to effectively treat HER2-positive cancer.

BackgroundOlder cancer survivors likely experience physical function limitations due to cancer and its treatments, leading to disability and early mortality. Existing studies have focused on factors associated with surgical complications and mortality risk rather than factors associated with the development of poor disability status (DS), a proxy measure of poor performance status, in cancer survivors. We aimed to identify factors associated with the development of poor DS among older survivors of colorectal cancer (CRC) and compare poor DS rates to an age-sex-matched, non-cancer cohort.MethodsThis retrospective cohort study utilized administrative data from the Texas Cancer Registry Medicare-linked database. The study cohort consisted of 13,229 survivors of CRC diagnosed between 2005 and 2013 and an age-sex-matched, non-cancer cohort of 13,225 beneficiaries. The primary outcome was poor DS, determined by Davidoff’s method, using predictors from 12 months of Medicare claims after cancer diagnosis. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression was used to identify risk factors associated with the development of poor DS.ResultsAmong the survivors of CRC, 97% were 65 years or older. After a 9-year follow-up, 54% of survivors of CRC developed poor DS. Significant factors associated with future poor DS included: age at diagnosis (hazard ratio [HR] = 3.50 for >80 years old), female sex (HR = 1.50), race/ethnicity (HR = 1.34 for Hispanic and 1.21 for Black), stage at diagnosis (HR = 2.26 for distant metastasis), comorbidity index (HR = 2.18 for >1), and radiation therapy (HR = 1.21). Having cancer (HR = 1.07) was significantly associated with developing poor DS in the pooled cohorts; age and race/ethnicity were also significant factors.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that a CRC diagnosis is independently associated with a small increase in the risk of developing poor DS after accounting for other known factors. The study identified risk factors for developing poor DS in CRC survivors, including Hispanic and Black race/ethnicity, age, sex, histologic stage, and comorbidities. These findings underscore the importance of consistent physical function assessments, particularly among subsets of older survivors of CRC who are at higher risk of disability, to prevent developing poor DS.

Abstract Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) have gained considerable attention due to their ability to simultaneously transduce and amplify ion‐based biological signals into electronic signals in bioelectronics. In this study, functionalized OECTs capable of detecting specific ion concentrations in aqueous solution and blood serum are investigated and described. Sodium, the most concentrated cation in the human body, is chosen as the target analyte due to its critical role in maintaining normal bodily functions such as blood pressure, nerve and muscle function, and fluid balance. These sodium ion sensors work at low source‐drain voltage, Vds = 0.4 V and gate voltage, Vg = 0 V, and demonstrate a high sensitivity of 126 μA dec−1 and a high selectivity over different cations. Furthermore, the OECT biosensors are employed to determine sodium concentration in more complex environments and demonstrated a log‐linear response within the physiological range of sodium in blood serum, ranging from 100 to 160 mm. In the final part of the study, the transistor‐based sensor is fabricated in a small‐footprint neural probe configuration and its sensing capability is investigated. These characteristics open up new opportunities for applications in wearable and implantable electronics.

Immunotherapy is a clinically effective method for treating tumors. Manganese can activate the cGAS-STING signaling pathway and induce an anti-tumor immune response. However, its efficacy is hindered by non-specific distribution and low uptake rates. In this study, we employed microfluidic technology to design and develop an innovative preparation process, resulting in the creation of a novel manganese lipid nanoparticle (LNM). The lipid manganese nanoparticle produced in this process boasts a high manganese payload, excellent stability, the capacity for large-scale production, and high batch repeatability. LNM has effectively demonstrated the ability to activate the cGAS-STING signaling pathway, induce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and inhibit tumor development. Notably, LNM does not require combination chemotherapy drugs or other immune activators. Therefore, LNM presents a safe, straightforward, and efficient strategy for anti-tumor immune activation, with the potential for scalable production.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of methanol (70% v/v), ethanol (80% v/v), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO; 100% v/v) extracts of ginger rhizome (GR), and 6-shogaol on the pilocarpine-stimulated salivary flow rate in C57BL/6 mice. Methods: Three extracts of ginger (Zingiber officinale) rhizome prepared by maceration using the respective solvents and 6-shogoal were reconstituted in normal saline with 0.2% DMSO. Thirty C57BL/6 15-week-old mice were divided into 5 groups: Group 1, saline; Group 2, 70% methanol extract; Group 3, 80% ethanol extract; Group 4, 100% DMSO extract; and Group 5, 6-shogaol. The baseline pilocarpine-stimulated salivary flow rate was measured at the age of 15 weeks (15th week), and treatment solutions were administered by intraperitoneal injection from the 16th to 18th week. The stimulated salivary flow rate during treatment weeks was recorded for each group, and its difference with baseline was analysed using paired-sample t test. The change in salivary flow rate between the treatment groups and the control group was analysed using one-way analysis of variance. Results: Groups 2, 3, 4, and 5 showed a significant increase in salivary flow rate when compared to baseline (P < .05). The increase in salivary flow rate in all 4 treatment groups was significant when compared to the control group (P < .05). Group 4 produced the highest increase in salivary flow rate; however, the differences amongst the treatment groups did not reach statistical significance (P > .05). Conclusions: All GR extracts (70% methanol, 80% ethanol, 100% DMSO) and 6-shogaol were equally effective in increasing the pilocarpine-stimulated salivary flow rate in C57BL/6 mice when administered systemically as a sustained dose for 3 weeks.

This paper reports the first account about dynamic changes on genetic diversity and population structure of Leptobotia microphthalma in the Yangtze River drainage due to dam constructions. The genetic diversity and population structure of twelve populations of L. microphthalma collected in 2010 and 2020 were estimated using 12 nuclear microsatellite markers. Reduction of genetic diversity between 2010 and 2020 was not significant in a paired t-test (p > 0.05), but population structure of L. microphthalma had a tendency to change: the genetic differentiation (Fst) among the five populations collected in 2010 were all insignificant (p > 0.05). However, differentiation (Fst) among some populations collected in 2020 were significant (p < 0.05), which indicated the population structure of L. microphthalma was changing. Correlation analysis indicated that negative correlations between the genetic diversities and geographical elevations among populations were significant for seven populations collected in 2020 (r = -0.819, p = 0.039), which means that populations of L. microphthalma in high elevation regions were more vulnerable than those in low elevation regions. Finally, some suggestions for conservation and restoration are proposed, such as artificial propagation, to prevent the further reduction of genetic diversity and population resources.

Abstract A critical challenge lies in the development of the next‐generation neural interface, in mechanically tissue‐compatible fashion, that offer accurate, transient recording electrophysiological (EP) information and autonomous degradation after stable operation. Here, an ultrathin, lightweight, soft and multichannel neural interface is presented based on organic‐electrochemical‐transistor‐(OECT)‐based network, with capabilities of continuous high‐fidelity mapping of neural signals and biosafety active degrading after performing functions. Such platform yields a high spatiotemporal resolution of 1.42 ms and 20 µm, with signal‐to‐noise ratio up to ≈37 dB. The implantable OECT arrays can well establish stable functional neural interfaces, designed as fully biodegradable electronic platforms in vivo. Demonstrated applications of such OECT implants include real‐time monitoring of electrical activities from the cortical surface of rats under various conditions (e.g., narcosis, epileptic seizure, and electric stimuli) and electrocorticography mapping from 100 channels. This technology offers general applicability in neural interfaces, with great potential utility in treatment/diagnosis of neurological disorders.

Summary: Innovation of catalyst structure is extremely important to develop the high-performance electrocatalysts for oxygen-reduction reaction (ORR). Herein, nitrogen-doped carbon semi-tube (N-CST) is used as a functional support for stabilizing the microwave-reduced Pt nanoparticles with an average size of ∼2.8 nm to synthesize the semi-tubular Pt/N-CST catalyst. The contribution of interfacial Pt-N bond between N-CST support and Pt nanoparticles with electrons transfer from N-CST support to Pt nanoparticles is found by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy. This bridged Pt-N coordination can simultaneously help ORR electrocatalysis and promote electrochemical stability. As a result, the innovative Pt/N-CST catalyst exhibits excellent catalytic performance, realizing ORR activity and electrochemical stability superior to the commercial Pt/C catalyst. Furthermore, density functional theoretical (DFT) calculations suggest that the interfacial Pt-N-C site with unique affinity of O∗ + OH∗ can provide new active routes for the enhanced electrocatalytic ORR capacity.

Abstract Autonomous one‐shot on‐the‐fly learning copes with the high privacy, small dataset, and in‐stream data at the edge. Implementing such learning on digital hardware suffers from the well‐known von‐Neumann and scaling bottlenecks. The optical neural networks featuring large parallelism, low latency, and high efficiency offer a promising solution. However, ex‐situ training of conventional optical networks, where optical path configuration and deep learning model optimization are separated, incurs hardware, energy and time overheads, and defeats the advantages in edge learning. Here, we introduced a bio‐inspired material‐algorithm co‐design to construct a hydrogel‐based optical Willshaw model (HOWM), manifesting Hebbian‐rule‐based structural plasticity for simultaneous optical path configuration and deep learning model optimization thanks to the underlying opto‐chemical reactions. We first employed the HOWM as an all optical in‐sensor AI processor for one‐shot pattern classification, association and denoising. We then leveraged HOWM to function as a ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) of an optical memory augmented neural network (MANN) for one‐shot learning the Omniglot dataset. The HOWM empowered one‐shot on‐the‐fly edge learning leads to 1000× boost of energy efficiency and 10× boost of speed, which paves the way for the next‐generation autonomous, efficient, and affordable smart edge systems.

Renewable solid sorbents for CO2 capture and storage have shown great potentials for the sake of gaseous separation, tail gas treatment, environmental regulation and climate governance. However, current existed preparation and reusability of solid sorbents are generally subject to high energy consumption and complicated procedure. Herein, a light-controlled CO2 separation system with high working temperature resulting from natural sawdust combined with polyethyleneimine is fabricated, which involves low energy input and few operating sequences. This system shows a direct and ratiometric response to sunlight illumination by which CO2 can be reversibly adsorbed and released. This light-controlled CO2 separation process is prospective to become an attractive alternative to traditional alkaline CO2 collection method in terms of its convenience and low cost. As a practical demonstration, CO2 mixed with N2 is successfully separated through this light-controlled carbon capture and storage (CCS) system, which offers great promise for CO2 capture and enrichment with applicability across a wide range of scales.

This study aims to restore grating lobe artifacts and improve the image resolution of sparse array ultrasonography via a deep learning predictive model. A deep learning assisted sparse array was developed using only 64 or 16 channels out of the 128 channels in which the pitch is two or eight times the original array. The deep learning assisted sparse array imaging system was demonstrated on ex vivo porcine teeth. 64- and 16-channel sparse array images were used as the input and corresponding 128-channel dense array images were used as the ground truth. The structural similarity index measure, mean squared error, and peak signal-to-noise ratio of predicted images improved significantly (p < 0.0001). The resolution of predicted images presented close values to ground truth images (0.18 mm and 0.15 mm versus 0.15 mm). The gingival thickness measurement showed a high level of agreement between the predicted sparse array images and the ground truth images, as indicated with a bias of -0.01 mm and 0.02 mm for the 64- and 16-channel predicted images, respectively, and a Pearson's r = 0.99 (p < 0.0001) for both. ObjectiveThis brief research report aimed to evaluate the short-term efficacy of presurgical nasoalveolar molding (PNAM) therapy on the nasolabial morphology three dimensionally in patients with non-syndromic complete unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP).MethodsThirty-six patients with non-syndromic complete unilateral complete cleft lip and palate were enrolled retrospectively and categorized into 2 groups: 18 patients who had received PNAM treatment (PNAM group) and 18 age-matched patients who have not receive PNAM treatment (no PNAM group) from 2017 to 2021. The average starting age for PNAM therapy was 18.33 days, and the average PNAM treatment duration was 99.08 days. The key components of the automatic gun are subjected to the severe working condition of high temperature, transient state and continuous strong impact load in the shooting process, the surface of which using the alloy constructional steel is prone to fatigue cracks and gradual expansion, resulting in the fracture of the key components and the fault of the automatic gun. To improve the lifespan of the automatic gun, ultrasonic composite strengthening modification treatment (UCSM) was employed to improve the surface properties of alloy constructional steel in the present work. The three aspects of surface roughness, surface hardness and friction-wear properties, in comparison with those of the traditional dry cutting and advanced ultrasonic-rolling surface modification (AURSM), were characterized. The results show that the surface roughness of the samples after the ultrasonic composite strengthening modification fluctuates by about 0.31 μm, and the surface hardness increases by about 23.5% when compared with the cutting hardness, and the friction-wear properties of the samples has been increased by more than 75%. Ultrasonic composite strengthening modification can increases the local residual compressive stress on the material surface, which endows the material with better surface properties.

Hypertrophic scarring (HTS) is a major source of morbidity after cutaneous injury. Recent studies indicate that mechanical force significantly impacts wound healing and skin regeneration which opens up a new direction to combat scarring. Hence, a thorough understanding of the underlying mechanisms is essential in the development of efficacious scar therapeutics. This review provides an overview of the current understanding of the mechanotransduction signaling pathways in scar formation and some strategies that offload mechanical forces in the wounded region for scar prevention and treatment.

Abstract Intrinsically stretchable organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) are being pursued as the next‐generation tissue‐like bioelectronic technologies to improve the interfacing with the soft human body. However, the performance of current intrinsically stretchable OECTs is far inferior to their rigid counterparts. In this work, for the first time, the authors report intrinsically stretchable OECTs with overall performance benchmarkable to conventional rigid devices. In particular, oxygen level in the stretchable substrate is revealed to have a significant impact on the on/off ratio. By employing stretchable substrates with low oxygen permeabilities, the on/off ratio is elevated from ≈10 to a record‐high value of ≈104, which is on par with a rigid OECT. The device remained functional after cyclic stretching tests. This work demonstrates that intrinsically stretchable OECTs have the potential to serve as a new building block for emerging soft bioelectronic applications such as electronic skin, soft implantables, and soft neuromorphic computing.

The past three years have witnessed the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs) rocketing to over 18%, due to outstanding advantages of non‐fullerene acceptors (NFAs). However, large exciton binding energy (E b) caused by strong Coulombic force is still one of the main limiting factors for high‐performance OSCs. Thus, it is critical to reduce the E b for further enhancement of device performance. Many strategies have been developed to reduce the E b of organic materials previously. In this perspective, the calculation methods for E b and the relationship between E b and voltage loss (V loss) are discussed. Then, the effects of the properties of small‐molecule acceptors on E b from the perspectives of fused‐ring donor cores, end groups, side chains, and molecular packing are discussed. Finally, the potential directions for reducing E b and pointing out the trade‐off between E b and bandgaps/miscibility are put forward. It is hoped that this perspective could provide a new thinking of a molecular design for the breakthrough of OSCs.

Due to the rapid spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), there is an urgent requirement for the development of additional diagnostic tools for further analysis of the disease. The isolated nanobody Nb11-59 binds to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) receptor-binding domain (RBD) with high affinity to neutralize the virus and block the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2- (ACE2-) RBD interaction. Here, we introduce a novel nanobody-based radiotracer named 68Ga-Nb1159. The radiotracer retained high affinity for the RBD and showed reliable radiochemical characteristics both in vitro and in vivo. Preclinical positron emission tomography (PET) studies of 68Ga-Nb1159 in mice revealed its rapid clearance from circulation and robust uptake into the renal and urinary systems. Fortunately, 68Ga-Nb1159 could specifically reveal the distribution of the RBD in mice. This study also helped to evaluate the pharmacodynamic effects of the neutralizing nanobody. Moreover, 68Ga-Nb1159 may be a promising tool to explore the distribution of the RBD and improve the understanding of the virus. In particular, this study identified a novel molecular radioagent and established a reliable evaluation method for specifically investigating the RBD through noninvasive and visual PET technology.

Accurate estimates of natural and/or vaccine-induced antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are difficult to obtain. Although model-based estimates of seroprevalence have been proposed, they require inputting unknown parameters including viral reproduction number, longevity of immune response, and other dynamic factors. In contrast to a model-based approach, the current study presents a data-driven detailed statistical procedure for estimating total seroprevalence (defined as antibodies from natural infection or from full vaccination) in a region using prospectively collected serological data and state-level vaccination data. Specifically, we conducted a longitudinal statewide serological survey with 88,605 participants 5 years or older with 3 prospective blood draws beginning September 30, 2020. Along with state vaccination data, as of October 31, 2021, the estimated percentage of those 5 years or older with naturally occurring antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in Texas is 35.0% (95% CI = (33.1%, 36.9%)). This is 3× higher than, state-confirmed COVID-19 cases (11.83%) for all ages. The percentage with naturally occurring or vaccine-induced antibodies (total seroprevalence) is 77.42%. This methodology is integral to pandemic preparedness as accurate estimates of seroprevalence can inform policy-making decisions relevant to SARS-CoV-2.

The reservoir evaluation and classification are restrained by the progress of research on the pore structure and fluid occurrence in dolomite intercrystalline pores of the Paleogene lacustrine carbonate rock in the western Qaidam Basin. The experimental method adopted to investigate the fluid occurrence of the lacustrine carbonate rock in the study area can be used as a reference for studying tight reservoirs. By integrating technical approaches such as the thin-section petrographic analysis, SEM, electron probe, mercury injection test, and NMR test, this research studies the petrology, pore type and distribution, and pore structure of the reservoir. Moreover, the pore fluid distribution and threshold pore throat radius for the distribution of movable fluids are investigated by integrating the centrifuging treatment and NMR characterization. Results show that pores of samples in the study area are dolomite intercrystalline pores, intercrystalline dissolved pores, framework dissolved pores of algal limestone (dolostone), dissolved pores of saline minerals, and interlayer fractures, among which dolomite intercrystalline pores and intercrystalline dissolved pores are found with the highest proportions (60%). The dolomite intercrystalline pores and intercrystalline dissolved pores are nano-micropore throats with a narrow distribution. Their capillary pressure curve is characterized by a high plateau and negative skewness, while the NMR relaxation time spectrum is left-skewed and presents higher bond water saturation (over 65%). For intercrystalline pores and intercrystalline dissolved pores, the main storage space for movable fluids is provided by small and medium pores (corresponding to the NMR relaxation time of 1–10 ms and 10–100 ms, respectively), and the experimentally determined threshold pore throat radius for movable fluids is 47 nm. The reservoir is hydrophilic and therefore movable fluids mainly occur in the centers of pores. The samples with higher proportions of coarse pores and pore connectivity are associated with higher proportions of movable fluids. Our analysis shows the dolomite intercrystalline pore has a certain storage capacity and yet inferior connectivity; the proportion of movable fluids that can effectively flow is key to evaluating the effectiveness of reservoirs with dolomite intercrystalline pores.

Tight reservoirs have poor physical properties: low permeability and strong heterogeneity, which makes it difficult to predict productivity. Accurate prediction of oil well production plays a very important role in the exploration and development of oil and gas reservoirs, and improving the accuracy of production prediction has always been a key issue in reservoir characterization. With the development of artificial intelligence, high-performance algorithms make reliable production prediction possible from the perspective of data. Due to the high cost and large error of traditional seepage theory formulas in predicting oil well production, this paper establishes a horizontal well productivity prediction model based on a hybrid neural network method (CNN-LSTM), which solves the limitations of traditional methods and produces accurate predictions of horizontal wells’ daily oil production. In order to prove the effectiveness of the model, compared with the prediction results of BPNN, RBF, RNN and LSTM, it is concluded that the error results of the CNN-LSTM prediction model are 67%, 60%, 51.3% and 28% less than those of the four models, respectively, and the determination coefficient exceeds 0.95. The results show that the prediction model based on a hybrid neural network can accurately reflect the dynamic change law of production, which marks this study as a preliminary attempt of the application of this neural network method in petroleum engineering, and also provides a new method for the application of artificial intelligence in oil and gas field development.

Our previous studies have reported the effect of swietenine (a major bioactive component of Swietenia macrophylla seeds) in reversing and potentiating the effect of metformin in hyperglycemia and hyperlipidaemia in diabetic rats. Moreover, we reported that the anti-inflammatory effect of swietenine is mediated via the activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). This study evaluated the effect of swietenine and its mechanisms in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in high-fat diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. The effect was assessed by determining blood biochemical parameters (glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, alanine transaminase (ALT), asparate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), glutathione (GSH), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), and malondialdehyde (MDA)) and liver biochemical parameters (liver index, cholesterol, and triglycerides). Hepatic lipid accumulation (initial causative factor in NAFLD) was determined by oil-O-red staining. Gene expression (qPCR) and immunohistochemical studies were performed to elucidate the mechanism of swietenine’s effect in NAFLD. The critical regulators (genes and proteins) involved in lipogenesis (ACLY, ACC1, FASN, SREBP1c, and ChREBPβ) and oxidative stress (Nrf2, NQO-1 and HO-1) pathways were determined. In mice fed with a high-fat diet followed by streptozotocin injection, the liver cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipids were elevated. These increases were reversed by the oral administration of swietenine, 80 mg/kg body weight, on alternate days for eight weeks. Gene expression and immunohistochemical studies showed that swietenine reversed the elevated levels of crucial enzymes of lipogenesis (ACLY, ACC1 and FASN) and their master transcription factors (SREBP1c and ChREBPβ). Furthermore, swietenine activated the Nrf2 antioxidant defense mechanism, as evidenced by the upregulated levels of Nrf2, NQO-1, and HO-1. It is concluded that swietenine shows beneficial effects in diabetes-induced NAFLD via inhibiting lipogenesis and activating the Nrf2 pathway.

Herb–drug interactions are vital in effectively managing type-2-diabetes complications. Puerarin is a natural isoflavonoid in the Pueraria genus, and its pharmacological activities, including antidiabetic activity, are well established. The similar modes of action of puerarin and metformin in diabetic models suggest their positive pharmacodynamic interactions. This study investigated this in streptozotocin/nicotinamide-induced type-2 diabetic rats. Puerarin at doses of 80 mg/kg, 120 mg/kg and 160 mg/kg improved the activity of metformin in reversing hyperglycaemia, dysregulated lipid profiles, dysfunction of the liver, kidney, and pancreas, and inflammation. The treatment with either puerarin (high dose, 160 mg/kg intraperitoneally) or metformin (100 mg/kg intraperitoneally) did not bring the dysregulated biomarkers to normal levels in 4 weeks. By contrast, the combination of puerarin (160 mg/kg) and metformin (100 mg/kg) did. This study is the first to report scientific evidence for the positive pharmacodynamic interactions between puerarin and metformin.

Abstract Background MEIS2 has been identified as one of the key transcription factors in the gene regulatory network in the development and pathogenesis of human cancers. Our study aims to identify the regulatory mechanisms of MEIS2 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which could be targeted to develop new therapeutic strategies. Methods The variation of MEIS2 levels were assayed in a cohort of HCC patients. The proliferation, clone-formation, migration, and invasion abilities of HCC cells were measured to analyze the effects of MEIS2C and MEIS2D (MEIS2C/D) knockdown with small hairpin RNAs in vitro and in vivo. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) was performed to identify MEIS2 binding site. Immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence assays were employed to detect proteins regulated by MEIS2. Results The expression of MEIS2C/D was increased in the HCC specimens when compared with the adjacent noncancerous liver (ANL) tissues. Moreover, MEIS2C/D expression negatively correlated with the prognosis of HCC patients. On the other hand, knockdown of MEIS2C/D could inhibit proliferation and diminish migration and invasion of hepatoma cells in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, MESI2C activated Wnt/β-catenin pathway in cooperation with Parafibromin (CDC73), while MEIS2D suppressed Hippo pathway by promoting YAP nuclear translocation via miR-1307-3p/LATS1 axis. Notably, CDC73 could directly either interact with MEIS2C/β-catenin or MEIS2D/YAP complex, depending on its tyrosine-phosphorylation status. Conclusions Our studies indicate that MEISC/D promote HCC development via Wnt/β-catenin and Hippo/YAP signaling pathways, highlighting the complex molecular network of MEIS2C/D in HCC pathogenesis. These results suggest that MEISC/D may serve as a potential novel therapeutic target for HCC.

The accidental injury or surgery on soft and hard palatal tissue has an adverse impact on normal maxillary morphology. To design a single-factor experiment that excludes other interfering factors on maxillary growth, a young rat model was established to simulate the various degrees of palatal trauma. Eight maxillary parameters were measured to evaluate the impact of palatal trauma on maxillary growth. Furthermore, the acellular dermal matrix (ADM) was applied to cure the palatal trauma and alleviate the adverse impact of bone denudation on the maxillary growth. Micro-CT scanning and histology analyses were used. One-way ANOVA with least significant difference (LSD) post-test was used to evaluate the statistical significance. The palatal trauma mainly disturbed the transverse development of the maxilla. ADM promotes mucosa healing, but there is still an inhibitory effect on maxillofacial growth.

Lung alveolar type-II (AT-II) cells produce pulmonary surfactant (PS), consisting of proteins and lipids. The lipids in PS are primarily responsible for reducing the air-fluid surface tension inside the alveoli of the lungs and to prevent atelectasis. The proteins are of two types: hydrophilic and hydrophobic. Hydrophilic surfactants are primarily responsible for opsonisation, thereby protecting the lungs from microbial and environmental contaminants. Hydrophobic surfactants are primarily responsible for respiratory function. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) enters the lungs through ACE-2 receptors on lungs and replicates in AT-II cells leading to the etiology of Coronavirus disease – 2019 (COVID-19). The SARS-CoV-2 virus damages the AT-II cells and results in decreased production of PS. The clinical symptoms of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in COVID-19 patients are like those of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS). The PS treatment is first-line treatment option for NRDS and found to be well tolerated in ARDS patients with inconclusive efficacy. Over the past 70°years, a lot of research is underway to produce natural/synthetic PS and developing systems for delivering PS directly to the lungs, in addition to finding the association between PS levels and respiratory illnesses. In the present COVID-19 pandemic situation, the scientific community all over the world is searching for the effective therapeutic options to improve the clinical outcomes. With a strong scientific and evidence-based background on role of PS in lung homeostasis and infection, few clinical trials were initiated to evaluate the functions of PS in COVID-19. Here, we connect the data on PS with reference to pulmonary physiology and infection with its possible therapeutic benefit in COVID-19 patients.

Smart contact lenses have emerged as novel wearable devices. Due to their multifunctional biosensing capabilities and highly integrated performance, they provide a great platform for the diagnosis of eye diseases and the delivery of drugs. Herein, a brief history of the development of contact lenses is given. Then, the state‐of‐the‐art design and fabrication of smart contact lenses for biomedical applications, including contact lens materials, fabrication technologies, and integration, are presented. Furthermore, biosensors implemented in contact lenses to measure lactic acid, glucose, intraocular pressure, and other key metabolites in tears are highlighted. Applications of smart contact lenses in drug delivery are also described. These unique features make smart contact lenses promising diagnostic and treatment devices. Challenges and future opportunities for further applications of smart contact lenses in biomedicine are also discussed.

Deep low permeability extra heavy oil reservoir has the characteristics of high formation pressure, high crude oil viscosity, and low permeability. Conventional steam injection thermal recovery has poor viscosity reduction performance and low productivity of a single well, which makes it difficult to develop this type of heavy oil reservoir. In this paper, core flooding experiment and microvisualization equipment were used to study the mechanism of improving the recovery of deep extra heavy oil by using water-soluble viscosity reducer; the realization of water-soluble viscosity reducer in numerical simulation was achieved by using nonlinear mixing rule; the reservoir numerical simulation model of water-soluble viscosity reducer displacement in test well group was established to optimize the development technical parameter of water-soluble viscosity reducer. The results show that compared with waterflooding, the oil displacement efficiency of water-soluble viscosity reducer is increased by 12.7%; water-soluble viscosity reducer can effectively reduce the viscosity of extra heavy oil, under the same temperature and permeability, the higher the concentration of viscosity reducer, the better the viscosity reduction effect, and the smaller the pressure gradient required at the same injection rate; the main mechanism of water-soluble viscosity reducer for enhancing oil recovery is to form oil in water emulsion, which can reduce the viscosity and interfacial tension of crude oil and reduce the residual oil saturation; in the pilot well group, the optimized injection concentration of water-soluble viscosity reducer is 3%, and the optimal injection amount of water-soluble viscosity reducer solution is 50 t/d; water-soluble viscosity reducer displacement was implemented in the pilot well group, the average daily oil of well group was increased from 1.8 t/d to 7.34 t/d, and the pilot well group has achieved good development performance.

Abstract Immunotherapy is a class of promising anticancer treatments that has recently gained attention due to surging numbers of FDA approvals and extensive preclinical studies demonstrating efficacy. Nevertheless, further clinical implementation has been limited by high variability in patient response to different immunotherapeutic agents. These treatments currently do not have reliable predictors of efficacy and may lead to side effects. The future development of additional immunotherapy options and the prediction of patient‐specific response to treatment require advanced screening platforms associated with accurate and rapid data interpretation. Advanced engineering approaches ranging from sequencing and gene editing, to tumor organoids engineering, bioprinted tissues, and organs‐on‐a‐chip systems facilitate the screening of cancer immunotherapies by recreating the intrinsic and extrinsic features of a tumor and its microenvironment. High‐throughput platform development and progress in artificial intelligence can also improve the efficiency and accuracy of screening methods. Here, these engineering approaches in screening cancer immunotherapies are highlighted, and a discussion of the future perspectives and challenges associated with these emerging fields to further advance the clinical use of state‐of‐the‐art cancer immunotherapies are provided.

Uncaria rhynchophylla (Miq.) Miq. ex Havil is widely used in the treatment of hypertension. The Uncaria extract and its bioactives, rhynchophylline and isorhynchophylline, reduced the blood pressure and fatty content in liver cells. In the present study, the antihypertensive effects of Uncaria ethanol extract (UET), rhynchophylline (RT) and isorhynchophylline (IT) were investigated in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) using UPLC-Q-Orbitrap/MS based lipidomics approach. Histological changes in the liver were evaluated. Cytolysis and fatty degeneration in the liver tissues were observed in the SHR group. Lipid species in WKY, SHR treated with UET, RT, and IT were plotted to obtain the Orthogonal Projections to Latent Structures Discriminant Analysis (OPLS-DA) score plots. Fifty-six endogenous metabolites in the liver such as glycerides, glycerophospholipids, unsaturated fatty acids, and sphingomyelins were selected as potential hypertension associated biomarkers. In order to further explore the metabolite targets of UET for antihypertensive, student's t test and correlation analysis were performed to recognize the pattern recognition and to select the significant metabolites. Similar and prolonged reduction in blood pressure was observed in all SHR groups treated with UET, RT, and IT, while the metabolite profiles were perturbed slightly compared to that of the untreated SHR. Further analysis showed that only a few common components were observed in both RT and IT, which showed similar antihypertensive effect in spite of the distinct metabolic pathways. These results help in understanding the mechanisms of isomeric ingredients in exhibiting the antihypertensive effect but with different targets.

Accurate characterization of the micro- and nano-pore radius values in a tight sandstone reservoir is the key work to reasonably evaluate reservoir properties. The previous exploration of pore-stitching methods is mainly based on the morphological extension of similar segments. However, few scholars compare and verify the image and non-image stitching methods, so they cannot clarify the application scope of different pore-stitching methods. In this study, the pore structures of eight selected tight sandstone samples were evaluated using high-pressure mercury injection, nuclear magnetic resonance, scanning electron microscope, and the helium porosity test. Then, the C-value fitting, interpolation fitting, and morphological fitting were used to establish high-pressure mercury injection and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) pore distribution curves to evaluate the differences among the micro-nano-scale pore radius values determined by the three fitting methods. Finally, the pore radius distribution is extracted from the binary image of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). After correcting the helium porosity data, the application scope of different fitting methods is evaluated by using the mean standard deviation verification method, and the optimal solution of the stitching method of pore radius distribution in each application scope is found. Compared to other studies, this research demonstrated three relatively simple methods for the determination of the full range of pore size distributions, providing a reliable method to evaluate the prerequisites of the range of application. This study provides a new idea for the micro-nano-scale pore radius splicing method of a tight sandstone reservoir, and the research results can provide a reference for the actual reservoir evaluation of oil and gas fields.

Zingiber officinale var. rubrum (red ginger) is widely used in traditional medicine in Asia. Unlike other gingers, it is not used as a spice in cuisines. To date, a total of 169 chemical constituents have been reported from red ginger. The constituents include vanilloids, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, flavonoids, amino acids, etc. Red ginger has many therapeutic roles in various diseases, including inflammatory diseases, vomiting, rubella, atherosclerosis, tuberculosis, growth disorders, and cancer. Scientific evidence suggests that red ginger exhibits immunomodulatory, antihypertensive, antihyperlipidemic, antihyperuricemic, antimicrobial, and cytotoxic activities. These biological activities are the underlying causes of red ginger’s therapeutic benefits. In addition, there have been few reports on adverse side effects of red ginger. This review aims to provide insights in terms the bioactive constituents and their biosynthesis, biological activities, molecular mechanisms, pharmacokinetics, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of red ginger.

The main objective of this study was to develop a pH gradient release pellet with self-emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS), which could not only improve the oral bioavailability of Vinpocetine (VIN), a poor soluble drug, but reduce the fluctuation of plasma concentration. First, the liquid VIN SEDDS formulation was prepared. Then the self-emulsifying pH gradient release pellets were prepared by extrusion spheronization technique, and formulation consisted by the liquid SEDDS, absorbent (colloidal silicon dioxide), penetration enhancer (sodium chloride), microcrystalline cellulose, ethyl alcohol, and three coating materials (HPMC, Eudragit L30D55, Eudragit FS30D) were eventually selected. Three kinds of coated pellets were mixed in capsules with the mass ratio of 1:1:1. The release curves of capsules were investigated in vitro under the simulated gastrointestinal conditions. In addition, the oral bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of VIN self-emulsifying pH gradient release pellets, commercial tablets and liquid VIN SEDDS were evaluated in Beagle dogs. The oral bioavailability of self-emulsifying pH gradient release pellets was about 149.8% of commercial VIN tablets, and it was about 86% of liquid VIN SEDDS, but there were no significant difference between liquid SEDDS and self-emulsifying pH gradient release pellets. In conclusion, the self-emulsifying pH gradient release pellets could significantly enhance the absorption of VIN and effectively achieve a pH gradient release. And the self-emulsifying pH gradient release pellet was a promising method to improve bioavailability of insoluble drugs.

Non-Newtonian fluids may cause nonlinear seepage even for a single-phase flow. Through digital rock technologies, the upscaling of this non-Darcy flow can be studied; however, the requirements for scanning resolution and sample size need to be clarified very carefully. This work focuses on Bingham fluid flow in tight porous media by a pore-scale simulation on CT-scanned microstructures of tight sandstones. A bi-viscous model is used to depict the Bingham fluid. The results show that when the Bingham fluid flows through a rock sample, the flowrate increases at a parabolic rate when the pressure gradient is small and then increases linearly with the pressure gradient. As a result, an effective permeability and a start-up pressure gradient can be used to characterize this flow behavior. By conducting flow simulations at varying sample sizes, we obtain the representative element volume (REV) for effective permeability and start-up pressure gradient. It is found that the REV size for the effective permeability is almost the same as that for the absolute permeability of Newtonian fluid. The interesting result is that the REV size for the start-up pressure gradient is much smaller than that for the effective permeability. The results imply that the sample size, which is large enough to reach the REV size for Newtonian fluids, can be used to investigate the Bingham fluids flow through porous media as well.

A parameter optimal design method for a tank with an inerter system is proposed in this study based on the requirements of tank vibration control to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of vibration control. Moreover, a response indicator and a cost control indicator are selected based on the control targets for liquid storage tanks for simultaneously minimizing the dynamic response and controlling costs. These indicators are reformulated through a random vibration analysis under virtual excitation. The problem is then transformed from a multiobjective optimization problem to a single-objective nonlinear problem using the ε-constraint method, which is consistent with the demand-based method. White noise excitation can be used to design the tank with the inerter system under seismic excitation to simplify the calculation. Subsequently, a MATLAB-based calculation program is compiled, and several optimization cases are examined under different excitation conditions. The effectiveness of the demand-based method is proven through a time history analysis. The results show that specific vibration control requirements can be met at the lowest cost with a simultaneous reduction in base shears and overturning base moments.

The synthesis and preliminary evaluation as donor material for organic photovoltaics of the poly(diketopyrrolopyrrole-spirobifluorene) (PDPPSBF) is reported herein. Prepared via homogeneous and heterogeneous direct (hetero)arylation polymerization (DHAP), through the use of different catalytic systems, conjugated polymers with comparable molecular weights were obtained. The polymers exhibited strong optical absorption out to 700 nm as thin-films and had appropriate electronic energy levels for use as a donor with PC70BM. Bulk heterojunction solar cells were fabricated giving power conversion efficiencies above 4%. These results reveal the potential of such polymers prepared in only three steps from affordable and commercially available starting materials.

The phthalimide (PhI) moiety has been attracting more attention as an excellent acceptor building block in donor-acceptor (D-A) conjugated polymers. In this paper; three D-A conjugated polymers with or without thiocarbonyl moieties are successfully prepared by the direct (hetero)-arylation polymerization (DHAP), which is an atom efficient and facile synthetic strategy to obtain polymer materials. Compared with the traditional carbon-carbon coupling reactions, this method possesses more advantages, including: fewer synthetic steps, avoidance of the preparation of the organometallic reagents, higher atom economy and fewer toxic byproducts, better compatibility with chemically sensitive functional groups and so on. All three of these designed PhI-based polymers exhibited favourable optoelectronic and thermal performance. The optical, thermodynamic and electrochemical properties of the synthesized polymers were systematically investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The results of these three polymers indicated that thionation of the carbonyl was a highly effective methods to improve the properties of PhI-based polymers; and provided impetus for the development of thionated PhI derivatives for organic electronic applications.

Organic electrochemical transistors based on the conducting polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) are of interest for several bioelectronic applications. In this letter, we investigate the changes induced by immersion of PEDOT:PSS films, processed by spin coating from different mixtures, in water and other solvents of different polarities. We found that the film thickness decreases upon immersion in polar solvents, while the electrical conductivity remains unchanged. The decrease in film thickness is minimized via the addition of a cross-linking agent to the mixture used for the spin coating of the films.

Pentacene organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) were prepared by introducing 4, 4″-tris(3-methylphenylphenylamino) triphenylamine (m-MTDATA): MoO3, Pentacene: MoO3, and Pentacene: m-MTDATA: MoO3 as buffer layers. These OTFTs all showed significant performance improvement comparing to the reference device. Significantly, we observe that the device employing Pentacene: m-MTDATA: MoO3 buffer layer can both take advantage of charge transfer complexes formed in the m-MTDATA: MoO3 device and suitable energy level alignment existed in the Pentacene: MoO3 device. These two parallel paths led to a high mobility, low threshold voltage, and contact resistance of 0.72 cm2/V s, −13.4 V, and 0.83 kΩ at Vds = − 100 V. This work enriches the understanding of MoO3 doped organic materials for applications in OTFTs.
