The construction of healthy schools is one of the key measures to implement the Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan. The establishment and implementation of the Guidelines for Healthy Primary and Secondary School Evaluation (Guidelines) is helpful for the large-scale promotion and standardization of healthy school construction by government departments in Shanghai and other major cities in China, thereby more students benefited from the Healthy China Initiative. The Guidelines integrate the efforts of multiple departments related to school health, based on internationally recognized content and strategies for health-promoting schools. They aim to foster students’ health development by combining the basic requirements for school health with priority projects for health promotion. Healthy school evaluation indicators and standardized requirements suitable for the current socio-economic development level of Shanghai have been developed, aligning with international concepts of health-promoting schools. They also reflect a high starting point and high level of investment and development in school health in Shanghai over the past decade. The Guidelines provide recommendations on the basic requirements, organization guarantees and management, social and culture environment, health promotion education, health services, and connection between school and communities, and families, of healthy school evaluation for primary and secondary schools. This paper aims to interpret the compilation process and main content of the Guidelines.

ObjectiveTo investigate the general situation of defect of vertebral column among primary and middle school students in Minhang District of Shanghai and analyze the related factors， to provide a scientific basis for prevention and treatment.MethodsFrom September to October 2022， a total of 5 715 students were selected from two primary schools， two middle schools， and two high schools in Minhang District for physical examinations and screening for defect of vertebral column.ResultsTotally 219 students had defect of vertebral column， accounting for 3.83% of the sampled population. Anteroposterior spinal abnormalities were found in 4 individuals， accounting for 0.07%， and 218 students had scoliosis， accounting for 3.81%. The detection rate of defect of vertebral column was higher in girls （6.27%） than that in boys （1.51%）， and higher in high school students （10.74%） than in primary school students （1.31%） and middle school students （10.97%）. Students who are mildly underweight （5.95%） and who are moderately to severely underweight （7.46%） had a higher detection rate of defect of vertebral column than those with normal weight （4.54%）， overweight （2.83%）， and obesity （1.60%）. ObjectiveTo understand the visual environment sanitation in primary and secondary school classrooms in Minhang District， Shanghai， and to investigate the factors affecting the decline in students’ visual acuity.MethodsIn 2020， among all the primary and secondary schools in Minhang District， according to different types of classroom structures， levels， orientations， unilateral lighting， and bilateral lighting， a total of 20 231 students from 674 classrooms in primary and secondary schools were selected through stratified cluster sampling. Each monitored classroom was regarded as a research unit， and the naked eye vision of students was tested using a standard logarithmic vision chart during the 2020 and 2021 academic years. The change in average visual acuity between the two measurements was taken as the dependent variable， and the visual environment indices were considered as independent variables. The relationship between classroom visual environment indices and the decline in students’ naked eye vision was analyzed.ResultsThe qualification rates for per capita classroom area， window to floor area ratio， average illuminance of the blackboard， uniformity of blackboard illuminance， average illuminance of the desks， uniformity of desk illuminance， lighting coefficient of classroom， blackboard reflection ratio， back wall reflection ratio， and distance between lamps and desks were 79.53%， 88.58%， 46.74%， 70.33%，64.69%， 80.86%， 71.81%， 20.30%， 1.63%， and 97.53%， respectively. The average naked eye vision of primary and secondary school students in the 2020 academic year was 4.75±0.37 （right eye） and 4.76±0.37 （left eye）， while in the 2021 academic year， it was 4.70±0.39 （right eye） and 4.71±0.38 （left eye）. ObjectiveTo explore the status of breastfeeding and complementary feeding of infants and toddlers at 6 and 12 months of age， and to analyze the related influencing factors to inform interventions for breastfeeding and complementary feeding problems in infants and toddlers.MethodsA total of 910 children selected from Pudong New Area of the Shanghai maternal-child pairs cohort， who completed follow-up at 6 and 12 months of age， were included in the study. A feeding status questionnaire completed by the parents was used to understand the breastfeeding and complementary feeding status of children at 6 and 12 months of age， and correlation analysis was conducted between the breastfeeding and complementary feeding status and the influencing factors.ResultsThe breastfeeding rate of infants at 6 months was 76.2% （693/909）， with a higher rate among girls than boys， and the rate of continuous breastfeeding at 12 months was 35.5% （322/906）. Skin wound healing is a continuous and complex process affected by many factors. Growth factors play an important role in the process of wound healing. Local application of growth factors can significantly promote wound healing. However, the degradation and time dependence of growth factors require appropriate delivery systems to help them play a role in wound healing. In recent years, wound dressing products with hydrogels as matrix materials or main components have shown obvious advantages in promoting wound healing. By modifying the hydrogel or combining it with other factors or materials that are beneficial to wound healing, the healing effect can be further enhanced. This review will introduce the research status of growth factors and hydrogels based on natural biological materials in skin wound repair and review the effects and research progress of the combination of growth factors and hydrogels in skin wound healing.

Lifestyle behaviors, defined as a combination of dietary behavior, physical activity (PA), screen time (ST), and sleep duration indicators, are strongly associated with blood pressure (BP) in students. Our aim was to characterize the joint trajectories of lifestyle behaviors among middle school students and evaluate their association with BP. Data were obtained from the monitoring dataset on common diseases and health factors among students in Jiading District, Shanghai, China, conducted from 2019 to 2023. Lifestyle behavior data were collected annually from middle school students aged 12–18 years through questionnaires covering dietary behavior score, PA, ST, and sleep duration. Students' BP was measured in 2023. Joint trajectories of lifestyle behaviors were determined using group-based multi-trajectory modeling. Associations between lifestyle trajectories and students' BP were examined using multiple linear regression and modified Poisson regression. A total of 1378 middle school students (759 [58.98%] boys, median age 14.36 years [IQR: 13·30–13.28]) with lifestyle behaviors data assessed at least three times were included, and they were categorized into four joint lifestyle trajectories as follows: "remain unhealthy with low PA and increasing ST" (n = 141, 10.46%), "remain unhealthy with only low PA" (n = 305, 22.63%), "change towards unhealthy with decreasing sleep duration" (n = 776, 57.57%), and "relatively healthy" (n = 126, 9.35%). After adjusting for important confounders, the "remain unhealthy with low PA and increasing ST" group was associated with higher diastolic BP (DBP) [β: 3.49, 95% CI: 0.55–6.44] and higher mean arterial pressure (MAP) [β: 3.19, 95% CI: 0.37–6.01] in students compared with the "relatively healthy" group. Additionally, compared with the "relatively healthy" group, students in the "remain unhealthy with low PA and increasing ST" group had a 1.12-fold increase in the risk of hypertension (risk ratios: 1.12, 95% CI: 1.03–1.24). All trend p values in DBP, MAP, and hypertension from the "relatively healthy" group to the "remain unhealthy with low PA and increasing ST" group were less than 0.05. Four distinct lifestyle trajectories were identified among middle school students. Students who remained in the "unhealthy with low PA and increasing ST" lifestyle trajectory were associated with later elevations in BP. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTRODUCTION: We delineated the associations among long‐term blood pressure variability (BPV), brain structure, and cognitive function. METHODS: We included 1254 adult participants from the Kailuan study. BPV was calculated from 2006 to 2020. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) were conducted in 2020. RESULTS: Higher systolic BPV (SBPV) and diastolic BPV (DBPV) were associated with lower total and frontal gray matter (GM) volume, and higher SBPV was associated with lower temporal GM volume. Elevated DBPV was associated with lower volume of total brain and parietal GM, and higher white matter hyperintensity (WMH) volume. Higher SBPV and DBPV were associated with lower MoCA scores. Decreased total and regional GM volume and increased WMH volume were associated with lower MoCA scores. The association between SBPV and cognitive function was mediated by total, frontal, and temporal GM volume. DISCUSSION: GM volume may play key roles in the association between SBPV and cognitive function. The Shanghai Maternal-Child Pairs Cohort (MCPC) is a study conducted in Shanghai, China, that examines the impact of psychological factors and environmental exposure on childhood disorders. The cohort consists of 5507 mothers and their children, who are closely followed throughout pregnancy and early childhood. The study collects data on demographics, environmental exposures, maternal stress, social support, behavioral lifestyles, neurocognitive development, and biological samples. The study provides valuable insights into maternal and child health in Shanghai and aims to improve the physical and mental health of mothers and children in China. The study found that environmental pollutants, penicillin exposure, and PFAS exposure had adverse effects on fetal growth and neurocognitive development. Maternal emotional stress and positive lifestyles had positive effects on pregnancy health and children's development. The study has strengths in its comprehensive follow-up visits and sample collection, but limitations in participant representation and lack of biological samples from fathers and children. In this study, our aim was to investigate the potential correlation between the mother's total gestational weight gain (GWG) rate and the trimester-specific GWG rate (GWGR) with the physical development status of the child within 24 months of age. We utilized linear regression models and linear mixed effects models to explore both time point and longitudinal relationships between GWGR and children's anthropometric outcome z-scores at 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months. To examine the critical exposure windows, we employed multiple informant models. We also conducted a stratified analysis considering pre-pregnancy BMI and the gender of the children. Our findings revealed notable positive associations between total GWGR and z-scores for body mass index for age (BMIZ), head circumference for age (HCZ), weight for age (WAZ), length for age (LAZ), and weight for length (WHZ) across different trimesters of pregnancy (pint < 0.05). The GWGR during the first two trimesters mainly influenced the relationship between total GWGR and BMIZ, WAZ, and LAZ, while the GWGR during the first trimester had a significant impact on the correlation with HCZ (0.206, 95% CI 0.090 to 0.322). Notably, the associations of GWGR and children's BMIZ were pronounced in male children and pre-pregnancy normal-weight women. In conclusion, our study findings indicated that a higher GWGR during each trimester was associated with greater physical growth during the first 24 months of life, especially GWGR in the first and second trimesters. Objectives : Intimate partner violence (IPV) against pregnant or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive women have been previously studied. However, data on the impact of IPV on HIV-positive pregnant women have not been systematically synthesized. We performed a meta-analysis to explore this issue and provide evidence regarding IPV prevention and HIV infection control. Method : The PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases were systematically searched. Studies that quantitatively assessed the association between IPV and its adverse impact on HIV-positive women during pregnancy and post-partum were eligible for inclusion. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) were calculated. Findings: Eight studies were identified to meet our eligibility criteria. The adverse impacts of IPV against HIV-positive pregnant women mainly included nonadherence to maternal antiretroviral treatment during pregnancy, nondisclosure of HIV-positive status to male partners, nonadherence to infant antiretroviral prophylaxis, and antenatal depression. IPV caused a 180% and 145% increase in the odds of antenatal depression and nonadherence to infant antiretroviral prophylaxis, respectively, among HIV-positive women, compared to the odds of their IPV-free counterparts [OR = 2.80, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.66–4.74; OR = 2.45, 95% CI: 1.40–4.27]. Conclusion : Limited evidence has suggested that IPV against HIV-positive pregnant women caused maternal depression during pregnancy and led to the possible failure of HIV prophylaxis adherence in infants. Interventions to address IPV may ultimately reduce the risk of depression-related adverse birth outcomes and vertical transmission in infants exposed to maternal HIV.
