Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung tulang ikan bandeng (Chanos chanos) yang dikeringbekukan menggunakan freeze-dry terhadap kadar testosteron pada otot pectoralis, bobot otot pectoralis, dan lingkar dada pada ayam bangkok (Gallus gallus domesticus). Penelitian ini menggunakan 10 ekor ayam bangkok jantan dengan umur 3-4 bulan yang terbagi menjadi dua kelompok perlakuan yaitu P0 (kontrol) dan P1 (tepung tulang ikan bandeng sebanyak 3,3 g/ekor/hari). Sebelum dilakukan penelitian dilakukan aklimatisasi selama 7 hari dan tepung tulang bandeng yang sudah dicampurkan dengan pakan diberikan setiap hari secara oral selama 35 hari. Pengukuran lingkar dada ayam bangkok dilakukan pada hari ke 7, 14, 21, 28, dan 35. Pada akhir penelitian ayam dinekropsi, kemudian dilakukan penimbangan otot pectoralis dan sampel homogenat otot pectoralis disentrifugasi dingin. Selanjutnya supernatan dikoleksi dan dianalisis menggunakan metode Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) untuk mengetahui kadar testosteron pada otot pectoralis. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan independent sample T-Test dengan bantuan SPPS versi 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (Sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05) pada kadar hormon testosteron otot pectoralis, bobot otot pectoralis dan lingkar dada ayam bangkok. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian tepung tulang ikan bandeng dengan metode freeze-dry dengan dosis 3,3 g/ekor/hari secara oral selama 35 hari dapat meningkatkan kadar testosteron pada otot pectoralis, bobot otot pectoralis dan lingkar dada pada ayam bangkok.

Background and Aim: Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD), a highly pathogenic ribonucleic acid (RNA) virus, causes devastating financial losses and reproductive deaths among dairy cattle in Yogyakarta and globally. This study aimed to identify point mutations within the E2 structural protein of the acquired BVD virus (BVDV) isolates using genetic analysis. Materials and Methods: The study period shows that we performed the research in 2023. We collected 118 serum samples from 2019 to 2023, among which only 10 BVDV positive were used and 108 were negative lacking the BVDV antigen. An anti-Erns monoclonal antibody-coated protein was used in indirect antigen capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ACE) to detect the BVD antigen present in positive BVDV serum specimens. In the initial step of the two-step reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, the enzyme (superscript III reverse transcriptase) and the primer (random hexamer) were used to convert the RNA of the BVDV into complementary deoxyribonucleic acid (cDNA) during the process of reverse transcription. The final step involved the amplification of the E2 gene of the resultant BVDV cDNA through gene-specific primers (E2_fwd: 5′-TGGTGGCCTTATGAGAC-3′ and P7_rev: 5′-CCCATCATCACTATTTCACC-3′) and enzyme (platinum taq DNA polymerase high fidelity). For conducting Sanger sequencing, those 3 BVDV-1-positive isolates (about 2.6% of all isolates) were selected as a typical specimen for each site and year between 2019 and 2023 using a proportional computation. Therefore, only two BVDV isolates with complete genomes were chosen to perform their homological and genetic analysis based on the E2 gene by means of Blast and MEGA Version 11 in addition to the Bioedit 7.2.5 program. Results: By applying phylogenetic analysis relying on the E2 gene, a sum of 1011 nucleotides of the BVDV-1 isolates derived from each of the two BVDV-1 Indonesian isolates (n = 2) and its 23 reference BVDV strains were acquired from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database. The findings of the genetic analysis inside the phylogenetic tree revealed that the two BVDV Indonesian isolates were clustered into BVDV-1a subgenotype, while the reference BVDV strains were clustered into the five BVDV subgenotype, BVDV-1a (n = 6), BVDV-1b (n = 3), BVDV-1c (n = 11), BVDV-1m (n = 1), and BVDV-1n (n = 2). The branch exists in phylogenetic tree located before the division of our two BVDV isolates was divided into two branches with the same maximum bootstrap values of 99%, indicating a high degree of confidence, was seen. Next, we observed the branch near our study samples, which displayed the bootstrap value of 100, indicating that our 02 isolates were identical. In both isolates, V11 BVDV1/Indonesia/Yogyakarta/2023 and V16 BVDV1/Indonesia/ Yogyakarta/2023 with GenBank accession numbers PP836388 and PP836389, respectively, conserved D7E residues were mutated as well as cysteine changed/altered into serine (S) was identified at amino acid position 201. Conclusion: We identified two isolates of BVDV belonging to the BVDV-1a subgenotype. Our findings indicate that the conserved D7E residues of isolates V11 BVDV1/Indonesia/Yogyakarta/2023 and V16 BVDV1/Indonesia/Yogyakarta/2023 were altered. The Indonesian BVDV isolates exhibited a cysteine to serine mutation at amino acid position 201, leads to vaccination failure, range of animal’s host will increase, and diagnostic kit will not be effective.

Purpose: Guava is believed to be the most important commercial fruit crop in Bangladesh. Guava fruit exhibit very short storage life mainly due to high respiration rate, susceptibility to various pathogens and mechanical damages which can rapidly reduce the quality. However, the experiment was conducted to study the edible coatings effects on postharvest quality and shelf life of guava. Research Method: Commercially mature guava fruits (Swarupkathi and Thai) were treated with six edible coatings viz., (i) T1 : Control, (ii) T2 : Aloe vera gel (25%), (iii) T3: Carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) (1%), (iv) T4: Chitosan(1%), (v) T5: Aloe vera gel (25%) + Chitosan (1%) and (vi) T6: Green tea leaf extract. The two-factor experiment was designed with a Completely Randomized Design and three replications. Findings: The results showed that, Thai Piara with Chitosan 1% treatment recorded the minimum weight loss (6.28%), the highest vitamin C content (191.44 mg/100gFW), the lowest pH (5.30), the maximum total soluble solids content (6.77 oBrix) and the highest titratable acidity (2.04%) at 10 days after storage compare to untreated Swarupkathi piara. Thai Piara treated with Aloe vera gel 25 % + Chitosan 1% exhibited the highest shelf life (13.00 days) followed by (12.67) in Chitosan (1%) treatment. Research Limitations: The study did not focus on ethylene and respiration rate determination. Originality/Value: The study demonstrated that Thai Piara, treated with Chitosan 1% solution showed better performance followed by Aloe vera gel 25% + Chitosan 1% solution for maintaining postharvest quality and shelf life of guava.

Background: Active compounds from plants and herbs are increasingly incorporated into modern medical systems to address cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Foeniculum vulgare Mill., commonly known as fennel, is an aromatic medicinal plant and culinary herb that is popular worldwide. Methods: Protective effects against cellular damage were assessed in the H9C2 cardiomyocyte hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) experimental model. The identities of phytochemicals in FVSE were determined by GC-MS analysis. The phytochemical’s potential for nutrients and pharmacokinetic properties was assessed by ADMET analysis. Results: GC-MS analysis of the ethanol extracts of F. vulgare identified 41 bioactive compounds, with four prominent ones: anethole, 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-propanone, ethoxydimethylphenylsilane, and para-anisaldehyde diethyl acetal. Among these, anethole stands out due to its potential for nutrients and pharmacokinetic properties assessed by ADMET analysis, such as bioavailability, lipophilicity, flexibility, and compliance with Lipinski’s Rule of Five. In the H/R injury model of H9C2 heart myoblast cells, FVSE and anethole suppressed H/R-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, DNA double-strand break damage, nuclear condensation, and the dissipation of mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm). Conclusions: These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of FVSE and its prominent component, anethole, in the treatment of CVDs, particularly those associated with hypoxia-induced damage.

Background: The gut microbiota (GM) and brain are strongly associated, which significantly affects neuronal development and disorders. GM-derived metabolites modulate neuronal function and influence many cascades in age-related neurodegenerative disorders (NDDs). Because of the dual role of GM in neuroprotection and neurodegeneration, understanding the balance between beneficial and harmful bacteria is crucial for applying this approach to clinical therapies. Aim of the review: This review briefly discusses the role of the gut-brain relationship in promoting brain and cognitive function. Although a healthy gut environment is helpful for brain function, gut dysbiosis can disrupt the brain's environment and create a vicious cycle of degenerative cascades. The ways in which the GM population can affect brain function and the development of neurodegeneration are also discussed. In the treatment and management of NDDs, the beneficial effects of methods targeting GM populations and their derivatives, including probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal microbial transplantation (FMT) are also highlighted. Key scientific concept of the review: In this review, we aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of the gut microbe-brain relationship and their twin roles in neurodegeneration progression and therapeutic applications. Here, we attempted to highlight the different pathways connecting the brain and gut, together with the role of GM in neuroprotection and neuronal development. Furthermore, potential roles of GM metabolites in the pathogenesis of brain disorders and in strategies for its treatment are also investigated. By analyzing existing in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies, this review attempts to identify new and promising therapeutic strategies for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. As the connection between the gut microbe-brain relationship and responses to NDD treatments is less studied, this review will provide new insights into the global mechanisms of GM modulation in disease progression, and identify potential future perspectives for developing new therapies to treat NDDs.

Background and Aim: Pelung cockerels (Gallus gallus gallusGallus gallus gallus [Linnaeus, 1758]) are different from other native cockerels in that they have a long and unique voice, in addition to their tall, large, and sturdy body with a relatively heavy body weight (BW). The sound quality of pelung cockerels is affected by the structure of the syrinx and their large and strong chest muscles. The performance of the chest muscles, and subsequently its voice, is influenced by the hormone testosterone. The shell of blood clams (Anadara granosa Linnaeus, 1758), a saltwater bivalve is known to contain a natural aromatase blocker (NAB) capable of blocking the aromatase enzyme from converting testosterone to estradiol. This generates consistently high levels of testosterone. This study aimed to determine the effect of blood clam shell powder (BCSP) as an NAB on the growth, pectoralis muscle performance, and testes of pelung cockerels. Materials and Methods: The study design was a completely randomized design, with 16 pelung cockerels aged 40–56 weeks divided into four treatment groups: T0 (control); T1 (BCSP [A. granosa] 0.9 mg/kg BW); T2 (zinc sulfate [ZnSO4] 0.9 mg/kg BW); and T3 (testosterone 3 mg/day). The animals were acclimatized for 7 days and then given dietary treatments for 56 days. The measurement of the comb, wattle, and chest circumference (CC) of pelung cockerels was performed on days 0, 14, 28, 42, and 56. At the end of the treatment, the pelung cockerels were sacrificed and the data of the pectoralis muscle weight (PMW), testis weight (TW), and area of the pectoralis muscle (APM) were measured. Samples of pectoralis muscle and testes were taken and fixed in 10% neutral buffer formalin for histology. The proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was identified by immunohistochemical staining. To measure fascicle area (FA), myofiber area (MA), and enumerate, the fascicle myofibers (NM) histology preparations were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H and E). Testicular preparations were stained with H and E to measure the diameter of the seminiferous tubules (DST) using ImageJ software. Results: The growth performance on day 56 showed significantly (p < 0.05) higher differences of CC in T1 compared to T2 and T0, in T1 and T3 compared to T0, and in T3 and T2 compared to T0. Pectoralis muscle results, that is, FA, NM, MA, and PCNA-positive cells, showed that cockerels on treatment T3 had significantly higher results than other treatments, T1 was significantly different from T2 and T0, and T2 was significantly different from T0. In addition, the TW and DST measurement of cockerels on treatment T3 were significantly reduced (p < 0.05) than the other treatment groups. Conclusion: The oral administration of BCSP in the role of a NAB at a dose of 0.9 mg/kg BW for 56 days improved the growth performance and pectoralis muscle, especially the CC, FA, NM, MA, and PCNA-positive cells parameters, but did not affect the PMW, APM, and testis of pelung cockerels. The administration of testosterone at 3 mg/day for 56 days contributed to the decrease in TW and DST, as well as atrophy of the seminiferous tubules of pelung cockerels.

Introduction: Carbon-tetrachloride (CCl4) is well-known to cause liver damage due to severe oxidative stress. Nerol, on the other hand, is a monoterpene that is antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anxiolytic. This study set out to determine if nerol may be used as a prophylactic measure against the oxidative stress mediated hepatic injury caused by CCl4. Materials and methods: For the aim of this experiment, 35 male Sprague-Dawley rats ranging in body weight (BW) from 140 to 180 g were split into five separate groups. With the exception of vehicle control group 1, all experimental rats were subjected to carbon tetrachloride exposure through intra-peritoneal injection at a 0.7 mL/kg body weight dose once a week for 4 weeks (28 days). The treatment groups 3 and 4 received oral administration of nerol at 50 and 100 mg/kg BW for 28 days. In the same time period, the standard control group received 100 mg/kg BW silymarin. Results: Serum hepatic markers, lipid profiles, albumin, globulin, bilirubin, and total protein were all substantially improved in nerol-treated rats in a dose-dependent manner that had been exposed to CCl4 compared to the only CCl4-treated group. Carbon tetrachloride-exposed rats had lower glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and catalase levels and higher thio-barbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) levels than normal rats. In contrast, administration of nerol shown a significant augmentation in the concentrations of these antioxidant compounds, while concurrently inducing a decline in the levels of TBARS in the hepatic tissue. In a similar vein, the histo-pathological examination yielded further evidence indicating that nerol offered protection to the hepatocyte against damage generated by CCl4. Conclusion: According to the findings of our investigation, nerol has potential as a functional element to shield the liver from harm brought on by ROS that are caused by CCL4.

This study examines the prolactin hormone profile in Etaawa, Sapera and Saanen lactating goats, adult females, pregnant does, and yearlings. This study used a total of 80 randomly selected goats with details of 26 Ettawa Crossbreed goats (eight lactating, six adult females, six pregnant, and six heifers), 32 Sapera goats (eight lactating, six adult females, twelve pregnant, and six yearlings) and 22 Saanen goats (five lactating, four adult females, six pregnant and yearling). All goats were declared clinically healthy. Blood sampling was performed through the jugular vein in each animal; then, serum was analyzed with an Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to prolactin concentration. High prolactin concentrations were found in Saanen goats in pregnant physiological status compared to Sapera and Ettawa crossbreed goats.

Summary: Background: Nutrition inadequacy during childhood and adolescence can cause suboptimal growth, intergenerational effects on offspring and an increased risk of chronic diseases in adulthood. There is little information on the prevalence and drivers of malnutrition in children aged 5–19 years, in the South-East Asian setting, since most existing interventions have to date targeted undernutrition. We assessed the national prevalence of nutritional indicators, their trends, and associated risk factors among children aged 5–19 years from 11 countries of WHO South-East Asia Region (SEA Region) in order to provide evidence to guide future policy direction. Methods: We included 5,210,646 children for analysis from 345 studies and 25 survey datasets. A Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to assess the quality of the study. Bayesian regression models were used to estimate the prevalence of malnutrition between 2000 and 2030, and a series of subgroup analyses were performed to assess variation in pooled estimates by different socio-demographic and lifestyle factors. The protocol was registered with PROSPERO database (CRD42023400104). Findings: Overall, pooled analysis demonstrated that indicators of undernutrition in SEA is predicted to decrease between 2000 and 2030 including stunting (36.6%–27.2%), thinness (29.5%–6.2%), and underweight (29.2%–15.9%). However, a substantial increase in prevalence of overweight (6.0% in 2000–16.9% in 2030), and obesity (2.6%–9.5%) are predicted. The prevalence of micronutrient deficiencies between 2000 and 2030 is predicted to decrease–vitamin A by 84% and vitamin D by 53%. Parents' education levels and household wealth were inversely associated with malnutrition. Children's health-related behaviours, such as unhealthy dietary habits and spending more time watching TV, playing games, or using the computer, were associated with increased chance of overweight and obesity. There were no clear signs of publication bias in our study. Interpretation: Our analysis highlights the pattern of a double burden of malnutrition, with clear differences between different socio-demographic groups. Despite a substantial reduction in the prevalence of stunting, underweight, and anaemia since 2000, an emerging increase in overweight/obesity and micronutrient deficiencies warrants urgent attention. Abstract In this work, pseudo-stem banana (Musa acuminata) (PBF) fiber was utilized as a potential low-cost natural adsorbent to uptake methylene blue (MB) dye from synthetic wastewater by batch adsorption process. Different adsorption factors like contact time, pH, initial concentration, and adsorbent dosage were explored and found that the separation process is strongly pH dependent. Additionally, the adsorption data were fitted with various adsorption isotherms like Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin–Radhushkevich models to detect the adsorption equilibrium phenomena. Reaction kinetics was inspected using pseudo-first-order and second-order kinetic models. Mass transfer and intra-particle diffusion analyses indicate the adsorption mechanism of the system described particularly in the context. Furthermore, scanning electron spectroscopy (SEM) and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were conducted to get the morphology and surface properties of the adsorbent, respectively. As a result, the as-prepared banana fiber can be proposed as a cheap suitable adsorbent to separate dyestuffs from industrial wastewater.

Aromatase blocker effectively promotes testosterone, which improves muscle performance and protein synthesis. Considerable muscle strength in Bangkok rooster is the outcome of testosterone activity. Clamshell contains aromatase blocker substances, while fishbone possesses a high amount of protein. This research aimed to evaluate the clamshell and fishbone combination potency towards testosterone levels and muscle performance in Bangkok roosters. This study employed 18 Bangkok roosters under 35 days of treatment. The rooster groups consisted of control (P0, n = 6); clamshell-fishbone (P1, n = 6): clamshell (6.6 gram/day) + fishbone (3.3 gram/day); fishbone (P2, n = 6): fishbone (3.3 gram/day). Introduction: Cabin crews on aircraft are at risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders as a result of their workload and the nature of their profession. This study is an attempt to identify work-related musculoskeletal disorders suffered by cabin crews and the associated ergonomic factors. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted among the cabin crews. The cabin crews, regardless of gender, who had worked at least one year, were selected by simple random sampling. A total of 246 cabin crews were the respondents in this study. A Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire was used to assess the respondents' MSDs. To determine the predictors of MSDs, a binary logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: Out of 246 cabin crew, 55.3% were males, and the mean age was 39.83±9.289 years. The mean flight duration was 85 hours, and the maximum flying hours was 123. Of the total participating crews, more than half (55.7%) suffered from musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The common sites of MSDs were the low back, shoulder, neck, and knee joints. Poor ergonomic factors such the increasing age and flight duration were also contributing factors to MSDs. Conclusion: The study revealed that over half of the cabin crew suffered from work-related musculoskeletal disorders. A number of ergonomic factors, including age and flight duration, were found to be associated with MSDs.

Background: In Bangladesh, there is a scarcity of nationally representative data on the burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods: To estimate the COPD prevalence in rural settings, this cross-sectional, population-based study was conducted in all eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh, and involved adults aged 40 years and above. By using multi-stage random sampling, 2,458 individuals were enrolled. The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) guidelines were used to diagnose COPD based on post-bronchodilator lung function, while additional participant data was gathered through computer-assisted personal interviews. Results: A 2% COPD prevalence (95% CI: 1.45, 2.55) was found in the study sample with a statistically significant difference between males (2.7%; 95% CI: 1.8, 3.6) and females (1.2%; 95% CI: 0.59, 1.81). Increasing age significantly inflated the odds of having COPD irrespective of sex (OR: 1.03; 95% CI: 1.00, 1.05; P value < 0.05). Furthermore, prevalence of COPD was higher among manual workers, cigarette smokers, and those that used the indoor kitchen and did not have a primary education. Sex-based analysis showed that smokeless tobacco consumption was significantly associated with COPD occurrence among males (OR: 2.14; 95% CI: 1.05, 4.37; P value < 0.05), but not females. Further, using an indoor kitchen increased the odds of developing COPD by 400% among female participants (OR: 4.39; 95% CI: 1.37, 14.10; P value < 0.05). Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive sex-based estimation of COPD prevalence among rural population and imparts significant contribution to the growing database on COPD prevalence in Bangladesh.

Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and H2 blockers are commonly prescribed medications to treat ulcers in the stomach and the upper part of the small intestine and prescribed for some other common gastrointestinal complications such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and dyspepsia. Previous studies claimed that, apart from other side effects, these anti-ulcerant therapies significantly altered bone mineral density by interfering with intestinal reabsorption of minerals and vitamin B12, and the most widely prescribed PPIs were significantly associated with increased risks of hip and spine fractures. However, the potential skeletal side effects of these antiulcerants are unknown in Bangladesh. Methods: To examine safety concerns of anti-ulcer therapies and their impact on musculoskeletal health among patients in Bangladesh, the present work surveyed 200 patients in five different hospitals from December 2019 to February 2020. Results: The current study revealed that most respondents (95 %) received PPIs for gastrointestinal indications while the rest were taking H2 receptor antagonists for their gastric ailments. Most patients taking PPIs alone (> 3 years; 95 % of respondents) claimed some unusual musculoskeletal side effects, such as weakness, flank pain, spasm of hands and feet, muscle aches, numbness, and tremor. About 61 % of patients taking PPIs experienced low back pain whereas the respondents with neck pain and knee joint pain were 10 % and 7 %, respectively. However, few osteopenia and osteoporotic incidences have been also recorded. Although further studies are required to confirm the impact of these antiulcerants on the bone, these patient responses suggest that these musculoskeletal side effects might have some links with altered bone metabolism. Conclusions: It is possible that anti-ulcerant therapies may worsen the bone metabolism of patients suffering from osteoporosis or other bone disorders, and awareness and precautions should be raised among the patients and clinicians for the careful administration of PPIs to patients suffering from bone disorders.

The purpose of this study is to find out how teachers and students felt about online classes in Bangladesh. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the education system in Bangladesh has made a change by delivering classes via online means. Therefore, this study examines teachers' and students' perspectives and concerns about taking online classes, which have become mandatory because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The data were collected by using an online survey method. The sample included 907 teachers and 1451 students from schools, colleges, and universities across Bangladesh's eight divisions. The data show that in the pandemic situation, a total of 80% of students were able to be connected with online education. Among them, 56% of students got no facilities regarding online classes from their educational institutions. To continue their study, 56% of the students wanted offline education. Likewise, it was tracked down that quality and convenient cooperation among students and instructors, specialized help accessibility, organized online class modules, and changes permitting the lead of reasonable exercises are largely fundamental elements in educators' and students’ fulfilment with online classes. The absence of typical classroom socializing, lack of face-to-face engagement with the teacher, and response time were among the major difficulties raised by the students. This study contributes significantly to the studies of the impact of COVID-19 on education particularly within developing countries. It also will have a significant impact on the government of Bangladesh's decision on how to continue online classes in the face of the epidemic and reopen Bangladesh's educational facilities.

Background and Aim: Hemonchosis has resulted in huge economic losses for sheep farmers worldwide. Secondary metabolite compounds from Indigofera tinctoria L. can be used as anthelmintics. This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo effects of I. tinctoria L. aqueous extract (IAE) as an anthelmintic against adult Haemonchus contortus isolated from sheep. Materials and Methods: Ten active adult worms were placed in each Petri dish containing 25 mL of IAE, each having a different concentration of IAE (at concentrations 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200, and 220 mg/mL). Each experiment was repeated. The positive control used 1% albendazole, and the negative control used 0.62% saline water. The number of immobile worms and the time of mortality were recorded after 2, 4, 6, and 8 h. The dead worms were subsequently tested using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. In the in vivo study, 15 sheep with an average fecal egg count (FEC) of 1000 eggs per gram were treated with IAE for 9 days: Group A (negative control, saline water 0.62%), Group B (21 mg/mL), Group C (41 mg/mL), Group D (62 mg/mL), and Group E (positive control, albendazole 100 mg/mL). Measurements of the body weight, FEC reduction test, and hematology testing were performed on days 0, 7, and 14. SEM was performed using worms found from the abomasum of slaughtered sheep. Results: The leaves of I. tinctoria L. contained a number of secondary metabolites, including total tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The most effective concentration that killed the adult H. contortus worms was 220 mg/mL (93.33% mortality) after 8 h of treatment. The electrophoresis results showed that the protein band at a dose of 22% was less than that of the control. The highest FECR value of the treatment group on the 14th day after treatment was at a dose of 62 mg/mL. The highest weight gain as well as the highest increased hemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), and total erythrocyte count (TEC) values on the 14th day after treatment were at a dose of 41 mg/mL. The SEM results showed that IAE treatment caused the worms' anterior parts to become wrinkled with thick creases and cuticle abrasion (in vitro) and the anterior part to shrink along with the presence of aggregates in the worm cuticle (in vivo). Conclusion: The aqueous extract of I. tinctoria contains tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids and has an anthelmintic effect with decreased FEC, increased weight gain, Hb, PCV, and TEC, causing damage to the worms' body and reducing the protein profile of adult H. contortus worms.

Kajian kasus ini ditujukan untuk mengungkap fenomena klinis dan reproduktif yang dialami 5 ekor kambing Bligon betina umur 2-3 tahun yang dipelihara oleh petani di Yogyakarta. Menurut informasi dari pemilik, kambing mengalami kekurusan dan tidak pernah menunjukkan gejala berahi. Hewan sudah diobati dengan ivermectin secara berkala. Pada hewan tersebut selanjutnya dilakukan kajian manajemen pemeliharaan serta observasi dan pemeriksan klinis (pemeriksaan fisik, uii berahi, pemeriksaan sitologi vagina terhadap organ reproduksi)dalam kurun waktu sekitar 60 hari (akhir Juli- awal September 2019). Pada akhir periode observasi hewan diberi perlakuan gertak berahi dengan pemberian injeksi PGF2-alfa dua kali dengan selang 11 hari dan pemeriksaan USG. Hasil pemeriksaan klini hewan tidak bunting, tidak ditemukan adanya ekto dan endoparasit, tidak ditemukan adanya perubahan fisik, dan tanda-tanda penyakit infeksi. Selama masa pengamatan hewan mendapat pakan berupa jerami kangkung pada level sekitar 2% bobot badan, pertambahan bobot badan harian yang negatif atau rendah, BCS buruk (1-1,5 dalam skala 1-5), tidak ditemukan berahi, gambaran sitologi bagina didominasi sel parabasal dan transisional, respon terhadap pemberian preparat PGF2-alfa tidak menunjukkan adanya perubahan fisik alat kelamin, perilaku berahi, dan gambaran sitologi apus vagina. Hasil pemeriksaan USG tidak menunjukkan adanya status ovarium yang aktif. Hewan didiagnosa mengalami Undernutrition dan anestrus. Berdasarkan pemeriksaan fisik dan pendukung dapat disimpulkan faktor lingkungan berupa asupan pakan yang rendah dan kondisi tubuh yang buruk berpotensi mengakibatkan gangguan reproduksi pada kambing Bligon betina di masa usia produktif.

The effects of pregnancy and lactation on hematochemical and mineral parameters were evaluated in Ettawa cross-bred goats in Disctrict Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The purpose of this activity is to empower the Gebang hamlet farmer women's group, Kemiri village, Tanjungsari District Gunungkidul Regency in optimizing mocaf products so that they have time keep the old and not undergo physical and chemical changes, practical and easy to process in the form of Instant Mocaf Flour Pancake Mocaf “Gama pantelo” as a snack or dessert that can be eaten at any time. The method of activity is done by demonstration and hands-on practice. “Gama Pantelo” Instant Premix Pancake Flour is made by pouring mocaf flour, refined sugar, baking powder, milk powder, and vanilli in a basin by passing it on a sieve to get a homogeneous powder size, then stirring it evenly and then mixing the instant mocaf pancake flour in aluminum foil zipperlock packaging. Pancakes are made with instant premix mocaf pancakes mixed with 1 egg and 180 ml of water then stirred evenly using a mixer. Furthermore, after mixing evenly, the dough is cooked on a small teflon that has been previously smeared with a little oil / butter, then baked until a little cavities arise on the surface of the dough and then the dough is turned over and baked until the pancakes turn golden brown. After that it is appointed and can be served. This activity succeeded in arousing the motivation of farmer women's groups in making variations of cassava preparations.

This study aimed to determine the influence of body condition score (BCS) on the metabolic and reproductive status of adult female Kacang goats (Capra hircus). Twenty-three local doe goats aged 3–6 years, which were not pregnant and had BCS ranging from 1–3 on a scale of 1–5, were studied. Blood samples were collected before slaughtering for biochemical analyses. After the goats were killed, the ovaries were collected for follicle and corpus luteum (CL) examination. Ovarian follicular fluid was aspirated for biochemical analyses. Most blood biochemistry parameters of the goats with BCS 1–3 did not show significant differences (P>0.05). The ovaries with BCS 1 were acyclic; whereas the ovaries with BCSs 2 and 3 were cyclic. The ovarian follicular fluid concentrations of glucose, Ca, and Mg in the goats with BCS 1 were significantly lower than those of the goats with BCSs 2 and 3. Anadara clam shell contains high Zinc. This microelement is recognised as acting natural aromatase blocker (NAB) that capable of boosting testosterone level. The aim of this study was to evaluates the testosterone level of Canaries following Anadara nodifera administration. Adult male Canaries (n = 27) were group into 3 with 9 repetition of each i.e T0 [control, was given by Carboxymethyl Cellulose Sodium (Na-CMC)], T1 (Zinc Sulphate 0.013 mg/30 g BW), and T2 (NAB 0.3 mg/30 g BW). The T2 treatment was NAB or shell powder of Anadara nodifera which was diluted 1:1 in Na-CMC. The birds were treated orally for 21 days. The complete blood cell count was performed in a haemo analyser except the erythrocyte was calculated manually in the Improved Neubauer counting chamber. Testosterone level was measured in ELISA. Subsequently gen CYP19 aromatase in syrinx, brain and testis were identified employing IHC and descriptively analysed. The result indicated significant elevated level of testosterone (p0.05). To conclude, Anadara nodifera at 0.3 mg/30 g BW was capable of acting as NAB to promote testosterone level. This was confirmed by the reduction of CYP19 aromatase gene receptors in syrinx, brain and testis. However NAB treatment was not significantly affecting routine blood profile.

Thyroxine hormone (T4) was one of the hormones related to metabolism rate. Animal transportation could be stressor interfering metabolism. Sargassum crasifoium was one of brown algae species that contained some important nutrients and also flavonoids. The study aimed at finding out the effect of the Sargassum on the decrase in thyroxine hormone and body weight loss. It used 9 Javanese Randu goats that were classified into 3 treatment groups. Group I served as control, Group II was treated with 450 mg/kg BW of Sargassum estract and Group III was treated with vitamin B1. All of the goats were transported for 12 hours using pickup truck at the speed of 60 km/hour. Blood samples were drawn before the transportation, during loading, 6 hours after the transportation and at the end of the transportation, while the body weight of the goats was weighed before and after the transportation. The results of the study showed that the T4 hormone decreased in the Group I and increased in the Group III during the transportation, while it was stable in the Group II. The biggest percentage of the body weight loss took place to the Group III (0.13%), while the smallest percentage took place to the Group II (0.063%). Statistical analysis showed that the Sargassum extract did not have any significant effect (p>0.05) on both the thyroxine hormone and the body weight loss during the transportation. Based on the results of the study it could be concluded that the Sargassum extract could stabilize the thyroxine hormone during the transportation so that it could prevent the body weight loss

Abstract The main obstacle of invasive hormone research of Etawah crossbreed goats (PE) were the sample collection due to the aggressiveness of PE goats. Improper ways of handling the goats would result in stress which leads to bias on the data. This research aims to determine the level of fecal progesterone of PE goats during pregnancy. This research use 5 pregnant and 5 non-pregnant PE goats. Diagnosis of pregnancy was conducted by observing the absence of estrus after breeding. Fecal collection was conducted in week 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 2 weeks after parturition but sample collection of non-pregnant goats conducted once. The sample of fecal which has been collected then frozen and extracted using methanol 80% as much as 3 ml. The fecal extract was analyzed using EIA KIT progesterone. The results of measurement of fecal progesterone level were 6,282 ± 950.96 ng/gr of feces (week 4 of pregnancy); 18,391.8 ± 2,584 ng/gr (week 8 of pregnancy); 25,958.4 ± 3,447.1 ng/gr of feces (week 12 of pregnancy); 25,233.4 is ± 3,306 ng/gr of feces (week 16 of pregnancy); 18,238.2 ± 3,069.5 ng/gr of feces (week 20 of pregnancy). The level of fecal progesterone in 2 weeks after giving birth was 516 ± 228.16 ng/gr of feces. Meanwhile, the level of fecal progesterone of non-pregnant PE goats is 254.2± 214.5 ng/gr of feces. The conclusion of the progesterone level of PE goats during pregnancy can be detected using the sample of feces with the highest level in week 12 of pregnancy. Penelitian ini menggunakan 5 ekor kambing PE bunting dan 5 kambing PE tidak bunting. Diagnosa kebuntingan dilakukan dengan pengamatan tidak munculnya estrus setelah pengawinan. Pengambilan feses dilakukan pada minggu ke 4, 8, 12, 16 dan ke 20 dan 2 minggu setelah partus. Pada kambing tidak bunting, pengambilan sampel dilakukan 1 kali. Sampel feses yang telah terkumpul, dikeringbeku dan kemudian diekstraksi menggunakan methanol 80% sebanyak 3 ml untuk selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan KIT Progesteron (Calbiotech R - USA). Hasil uji pararelism menunjukkan adanya penurunan OD secara paralel seiring dengan besarnya pengenceran sampel. Kadar progesteron feses didapatkan, 6.282 ± 950.96 ng/gr feses (minggu ke 4 kebuntingan); 18.391,8 ± 2584 ng/gr fese (minggu ke 8 kebuntingan); 25.958, 4 ± 3.447,1 ng/gr feses (minggu ke 12 kebuntingan); 25.233,4 ± 3.306 ng/gr feses (minggu ke 16 kebuntingan); 18.238,2 ± 3.069,5 ng/gr feses (minggu ke 20 kebuntingan). Kadar progesteron feses 2 minggu setelah melahirkan adalah 516 ± 228,16 ng/gr feses sedangkan progesteron kambing PE tidak bunting adalah 254,2 ± 214,5 ng/gr feses. Kesimpulan kadar progesteron kambing PE selama kebuntingan dapat dideteksi menggunakan sampel feses dengan kadar tertinggi pada minggu ke 12 kebuntingan. Background: Any public health emergency demands adequate risk communication with the vulnerable population along with their optimized perception about the impending risk to ensure proper risk management and crisis control. Hence, we conducted this study to explore healthcare providers’ perceptions regarding risks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), as well as how they are being communicated to about the risk, and how they practice risk reduction measures. Methods: We conducted a two-phased explanatory sequential mixed-method study among physicians and nurses from randomly selected tertiary healthcare facilities in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. In the first phase, we assessed the general pattern and quantifiable measures of risk perception, risk communication, and infection prevention practices quantitatively. We performed multiple linear regression analyses to explore how much variability of risk perception was predicted by risk communication methods and contents. In the second phase, we collected qualitative data for in-depth understanding and exploration of participants’ experiences and insights regarding COVID-19 risk through interviews and document reviews. We manually performed thematic content analysis of the qualitative data. Finally, we triangulated findings from both phases to illustrate the research objectives. Discussion: Based on the psychometric dimensions of risk perception and psycho-social theory of the health belief model, perceptions of COVID-19 risk among healthcare providers were evaluated in this study. The relationship between risk perception and infection prevention and control practices among healthcare providers were also investigated. The explanatory sequential design of this study is expected to generate hypotheses on how risk perception is being shaped in a time of uncertainty and, thus, will help to build a proper risk communication strategy for the healthcare providers

Litsea glutinosa (Lour.) C. B. Robinson, belonging to the family Lauraceae, is a multipurpose and fast-growing evergreen or deciduous tree that has been traditionally used for numerous purposes such as treatment for diarrhea, dysentery, abdominal pain, indigestion, gastroenteritis, edema, traumatic injuries, colds, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, pain relief, and poignant sexual power. This study aimed to summarize the chemical reports, folk values, and phytopharmacological activities of L. glutinosa, based on available information screened from diverse databases. An up-to-date electronic-based search was accomplished to obtain detailed information, with the help of several databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, SpringerLink, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, PubMed, ChemSpider, Elsevier, BioMed Central, and the USPTO, CIPO, INPI, Google Patents, and Espacenet, using relevant keywords. Outcomes advocate that, up to the present time, alkaloids, glycosides, and terpenoids are abundant in, and the most bioactive constituents of, this natural plant. Results demonstrated that L. glutinosa has various remarkable biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anticancer, antipyretic, anti-diabetic, analgesic, hepatoprotective, and wound-healing activity. One study revealed that L. glutinosa exhibited significant aphrodisiac and anti-infertility activity. Nevertheless, no clinical studies have been cited. Taken together, L. glutinosa may be one of the significant sources of bioactive constituents that could potentially lead to different effective pharmacological activities. On the other hand, future research should focus on clinical studies and several toxicity evaluations, such as sub-chronic toxicity, teratogenicity, and genotoxicity.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of shell supplementation on the regulation of male reproduction in rats. Materials and Methods: The zinc (Zn) level of shell from blood clam (Anadara granosa), green mussel (Perna viridis), and conch shell (Telescopium telescopium) was analyzed. The highest Zn content shell was fed to male Sprague Dawley rats for 0, 9, 30, and 50 days at the dose of either 0.09 mg/200 g BW or 0.18 mg/200 g BW. To determine the testosterone levels, blood was collected through the infraorbitalis sinus just before the rat was sacrificed. Testicular and brain were also collected for Cyp19 aromatase receptor analysis. Results: The Zn level in the shell of blood clam, green mussel, and conch shell 61.55 mg/kg, 2.78 mg/kg, and 3.93 mg/kg, respectively. The testosterone level of T1 group receiving 0.18 mg/200 g BW for 0, 9, 30, and 50 days was 1.42±0.59, 2.15±1.58, 2.98±2.53, and 8.11±2.03 ng/mL, respectively. The testosterone level of T2 group receiving 0.09 mg/200 g BW for 0, 9, 30, and 50 days was 2.50±0.32, 1.25±0.60, 3.87±3.27, and 3.54±0.23 ng/mL, respectively. The T3 group receiving Na-CMC showed the level of testosterone at days 0, 9, 30, and 50 days was 0.77±0.22, 1.99±1.65, 4.12±0.07, and 2.19±1.30 ng/mL, respectively. Finally, the T4 group receiving Zn showed testosterone levels at days 0, 9, 30, and 50 days was 0.51±0.58, 2.24±3.16, 4.58±1.97, and 2.89±0.20 ng/mL, respectively. In this paper, we define some new types of fuzzy ideals of AG-groupoids called (α, β)-fuzzy bi-ideals, (α, β)-fuzzy interior ideals, (β̄, ᾱ)-fuzzy bi-ideals, and (β̄, ᾱ)-fuzzy interior ideals, where α, β∈{∈γ, qδ, ∈γ∨qδ, ∈γ∧qδ} and ᾱ, β̄∈{⋶γ, q̄δ, ⋶γ∨q̄δ, ⋶γ∧q̄δ}, with α≠∈γ∧qδ and β̄≠⋶γ∧q̄δ. Background: Maternal mortality is still a major health issue in Nepal. It is higher among disadvantaged and illiterate women living in rural areas. The major reasons for deaths are low and inequitable utilization of maternal health services. The study aims to assess the utilization of the maternal health services among mothers having under five years children of Tamang community. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used for the study. A total sample of 139 mothers having under five-year children from Tamang community were selected purposively. Participant mothers were interviewed using semi-structured questionnaires. The study was approved from Nepal Health Research Council and written consent was also taken from the participants prior to data collection. Data was coded, entered in Epidata 3.1v, then transferred to SPSS v20 software and analyzed. Results: The average age of the mothers was 27 years and nearly half of the mothers were illiterate. Among 92.8% of the mothers who had come for Antenatal Care (ANC) checkup, only 57.4% had completed four ANC checkups. Similarly, more than two third (70.5%) of mothers had delivered their child at health institution. On the other hand, only 51.8% of mothers had visited for PNC checkup where only 47.2% of them had 3 PNC checkups. Conclusion: The study revealed that though mothers had visited for ANC and PNC checkups, complete visits were found to be very low. It is recommended to aware the mothers and health care providers on maternal health services and its utilization.

Enhancement of mucosal immune responses in children and infants using novel adjuvants such as double mutant heat labile toxin (dmLT) is an important goal in the enteric vaccine field. dmLT has been shown to enhance mucosal IgA responses to the oral inactivated enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) vaccine ETVAX. dmLT can enhance IL-17A production from adult T cells, which may increase the production and secretion of mucosal IgA antibodies. However, the adjuvant mechanism remains to be fully elucidated and might differ between infants and adults due to age-related differences in the development of the immune system. The main objective of this study was to determine how dmLT influences antigen presenting cells and T cells from infants compared to adults, and the role of IL-1β for mediating the adjuvant activity. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from Bangladeshi infants (6-11 months) and adults (18-40 years) were stimulated with the mitogen phytohaemagglutinin (PHA), the superantigen Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB), ETVAX whole cell component (WCC) or E. coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) ± dmLT, and cytokine production was measured using ELISA and electrochemiluminescence assays. The adjuvant dmLT significantly enhanced SEB- and PHA-induced IL-17A, but not IFN-γ responses, in PBMCs from both infants and adults. Blocking experiments using an IL-1 receptor antagonist demonstrated the importance of IL-1 signaling for the adjuvant effect. dmLT, ETVAX WCC and LPS induced dose-dependent IL-1β responses of comparable magnitudes in infant and adult cells. Depletion experiments suggested that IL-1β was mainly produced by monocytes. dmLT enhanced IL-1β responses to low doses of WCC and LPS, and the adjuvant effect appeared over a wider dose-range of WCC in infants. dmLT and WCC also induced IL-6, IL-23 and IL-12p70 production in both age groups and dmLT tended to particularly enhance IL-23 responses to WCC. Our results show that dmLT can induce IL-1β as well as other cytokines, which in turn may enhance IL-17A and potentially modulate other immunological responses in both infants and adults. Thus, dmLT may have an important function in promoting immune responses to the ETVAX vaccine, as well as other whole cell- or LPS-based vaccines in infants in low- and middle-income countries.

Introduction: Slips, trips and falls (STFs) lead to considerable accidents and injuries with a large financial consequence. In garment industries, occupational accidents and injuries are not uncommon and slips, trips and falls are the major contributory factors. It aimed to find out the contributing factors of slips, trips and falls among the garment workers in Bangladesh. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in a garment industry to find out the factors responsible for slips, trips and falls among the workers. The study participants were garment workers with one year of experience, regardless of age and sex. A total of 208 workers was selected by simple random sampling. The study was conducted from July 2018 to June 2019. Results: Among the total 208 respondents, 130 (62.5%) were female and the mean age was 27.49±7.18 years. The majority of the respondents (57.2%) had a primary level of education and had work experience up to five years (71.6%). Of the total respondents, 62 (29.8%) had the experience of slips, trips and falls (STFs) in the last six months. Among them, slips were experienced by 34(16.3%), trips by 43(20.7%) and falls by 40(19.2%) respondents. Poor housekeeping 23(53.6%), mopped wet floor 18(52.9%), slopped and slippery floors 14(35.0%), improper storage 14(32.6%), uneven floor 12(30.0%) and spilling of drinks 9(26.5%) in a higher proportion were responsible for slips, trips and falls. The ergonomic factors which were reported to contribute to slips, trips and falls in a higher proportion were working posture 30(69.8%) and load-bearing 24 (60%). Workplace stress, on the other hand, was found to be the most common 37(92.5%) contributing factor to slips, trips and falls. Conclusion: Almost two-thirds of garment workers experienced slips, trips and falls in their workplace. To prevent slips, trips and falls, steps should be taken to reduce the contributing factors, especially the workplace stress among the workers.

The study aimed at evaluating the hematological and chemical parameters of the blood of female fat tail sheep raised with fermented complete feed (CF) management. It used 40 adult female fat tail sheep age 24-36 months and body weight in 30-35 kg and 3-4 of body condition score, which was raised in the individual stall with fermented complete feed (CF) management. Samples of blood were drawn once from the jugular vein before feeding in the morning. The results of hematological parameters were RBC (12.11±2.18 x106/µL), hemoglobin (12.40±1.96 g/dL), hematocrit (36.49±5.47%), MCV (30.46±3.38 fL), MCH (10.30±0.75 pg), MCHC (34.00±1.86 g/dL), eosinophils (3.15±7.70%), neutrophils (7.13±14.90%), lymphocytes (11.93±23.85%), and monocytes (0.30±0.88%). The results of chemical parameters were sodium (147.58±3.75 mmol/L), chloride (106.51±3.12 mmol/L), magnesium (3.66±1.38 mg/dL), albumin (3.36±0.31 g/dL) and glucose (40.28±9.12 mg/dL). The results of hematological and chemical parameters in the study could be the reference in monitoring the health of the adult female fat tail sheep raised with the fermented complete feed (CF) management.

This research aimed to investigate the influence of gradually feeding rejected laying hens after molting on the performance of production. This research used 6,000 rejected laying hens of 80 weeks old in Subur Farm. Molting method was a modification method by reducing the feed gradually. At the beginning of this research, the feed was given 120 g/laying hens/day and it would be reduced by 10 g/laying hens/day until it reach 50 g/laying hens/day. In the next phase, all chickens fasted for seven days then the chicken was given 10 g/laying hens on the first day. The feed was increased 10 g/laying hens every two days up to 120 g/laying hens/day. Data Collection of Feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality rate, amount of feed, and egg production were taken at the start of re-feeding. The aim of this study was to investigate the apolipoprotein-B (apo-B) gene in atherosclerosis mice which were orally given curcuminoid extract of Curcuma xanthorriza. A total number of 30 white mice were split into 6 groups, the first group considered as control (without any treatment), second group as atherogenic feed control, the third group as extract control, while the fourth, fifth and sixth groups as atherogenic feed and curcuminoid Curcuma xanthorriza extract group treated with 5 mg/mouse, 10 mg/mouse and 15 mg/ mouse, respectively for three months. The blood samples were taken from all six groups for the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis using total DNA isolation, DNA amplification with polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and DNA sequencing. The data analysis showed that 374 bp nucleotide sequence gen of apo-B from Rattus norvegicus in groups B, C, D, E, and F did not cause any changes in genes. The analysis showed the sequence of apo-B Rattus norvegicus gene in the treatment group was apparently identical with that of Rattus norvegicus group A as the control group without treatment. As conclusion, the administration of curcuminoid zanthorrizza to atherosclerosis mice did not change the gene structure of apo-B 100.

Ginkgolide A is a highly active platelet activating factor antagonist cage molecule which was isolated from the leaves of the Ginkgo biloba L. It is known for its inflammatory and immunological potentials. This review aims to sketch a current scenario on its therapeutic activities on the basis of scientific reports in the databases. A total 30 articles included in this review suggests that ginkgolide A has many important biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anticancer, anxiolytic-like, anti-atherosclerosis and anti-atherombosis, neuro- and hepatoprotective effects. There is a lack of its toxicological (e.g. toxicity, cytotoxicity, genotoxicity and mutagenitcity) profile. In conclusion, ginkgolide A may be one of the potential therapeutic lead compounds, especially for the treatment of cardiovascular, hepatological, and neurological diseases and disorders. More studies are necessary on this hopeful therapeutic agent.

The purpose of research to determine the effect of Interest in Learning, Attention Parents and Teachers Performance against IPS Student Achievement in Elementary School Class V Se-District of Wonosobo regency Sapuran academic year 2013/2014. The study population was a fifth grade students Sapuran Elementary School District of Wonosobo, amounting to 976 students with a sample of 100 students. The technique of collecting data using questionnaires and documentation. Analysis of data using multiple regression analysis three predictors. The results showed that there was a significant positive influence and interest in learning, attention of parents, teachers and the performance of the IPS Student Achievement in Elementary School Class V Se-District of Wonosobo regency Sapuran academic year 2013/2014. Effective contribution Interest in Learning, Attention Parents and teacher performance to student achievement of 90.8%.

BackgroundDiarrhea is the second-leading cause of death in children under 5 years of age. In low- and middle-income countries, 3%-20% of acute diarrheal episodes become persistent diarrhea (PD) (ie, duration ≥14 days), which results in 36%-56% of all diarrheal deaths. In Bangladesh, PD causes >25% of diarrhea-related deaths. Commensal gut microbiota dysbiosis is increasingly recognized in the pathogenesis of PD. Hospital-based management of PD requires a hospital stay, which increases the risk of infection and hospital costs. The higher cost of treatment and high case-fatality rates reiterate PD as an important public health problem. At the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), for the last two decades, a consensus-based guideline has been followed for PD. Observation has revealed that green banana helps in the resolution of diarrhea. However, no larger prospective study has been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of green banana in the management of PD among children older than 6 months of age. ObjectiveOur objective is to assess the efficacy of full-strength rice suji (semolina) with and without green banana compared to three-quarter-strength rice suji in the management of PD in children aged 6-36 months at the Dhaka Hospital of the icddr,b. MethodsThis open-labeled, randomized controlled study aims to enroll a total of 145 children with PD who have not been improving on a diet of milk suji. Children will be randomized into three different diet-specific groups: full-strength rice suji containing green banana, full-strength rice suji alone, and three-quarter-strength rice suji. The primary outcome is the percentage of children who recovered from diarrhea by day 5. ResultsRecruitment and data collection began in December 2017 and were completed in November 2019. Results are expected by April 2020. ConclusionsThis study is expected to provide insights into the incorporation of green banana into the dietary management of PD. IntroductionIncreased level of serum uric acid (SUA) is often considered a risk factor for ischemic stroke. This study was conducted to examine the association of SUA level with ischemic stroke and assessed gender-based differences, if any.MethodsIn this case-control study, neuroimaging-confirmed ischemic stroke patients were recruited as cases within three days of an incident from neurology in-patient department, and as controls, patients without stroke history were recruited from neurology out-patient department. Blood was collected from the respondents of both groups to assess SUA level, lipid profile and oral glucose tolerance test. Binary logistic regression was done for estimating the risks of ischemic stroke.ResultsA total of 338 participants were recruited, where 169 were cases and 169 were controls. Around 60 percent respondents of both case and control groups were male. Mean SUA levels for cases and controls were 6.03 (SD 1.84) mg/dl and 4.04 (SD 1.46) mg/dl, respectively. After adjustment for age, tobacco consumption status, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease and dyslipidemia, elevated SUA level was found to be significantly associated with ischemic stroke only in females (OR = 1.49; 95% CI = 1.01-2.19; pConclusionThis study concluded that elevated SUA level is significantly associated with the acute phase of an ischemic stroke and gender-specific analysis demonstrates this association only in females.

The Bangkok rooster is a prestigious ornamental bird in Indonesia. Zinc and shell have an aromatase blocker effect that results in testosterone elevations. Additionally, fishbone contains rich protein for optimum biological functions. Serum testosterone regulates comb size in the chicken. This study aimed to investigate the effect of natural aromatase blockers and protein in the comb of Bangkok roosters. This experiment divided thirteen Bangkok roosters into control and treatment groups with zinc, fishbone-shell, and fishbone supplementations. The weekly comb lengthening and widening were intervals between week 0 and the measurement week in this study. The results suggested that fishbone and fishbone-shell supplementations escalated the comb lengthening. Fishbone–shell treatment significantly increased the comb lengthening in the second and fourth weeks (p < 0.05). The significant elongation change in the fishbone group only appeared in the second week (p < 0.05). Otherwise, the treatments produced lower comb widening in the roosters. Fishbone and fishbone-shell supplementation significantly caused a lower widening in every measurement week (p < 0.05). This study uncovered the effects of zinc, shell, and fishbone supplementations on reproductive phenotype in Bangkok roosters.

The albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio can be an immunological indicator of sheep which can be influenced by reproductive status such as pregnant and lactation conditions. However, a study of A/G ratio during pregnant and lactation in thin-tailed sheep is still lack. This study aimed to determine the levels of A/G ratio in thin-tailed sheep during pregnancy and lactation. This study used twelve of ewes thin-tailed sheeps (seven pregnant sheeps, and five lactating sheeps) rearing in Berbah, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Blood samples were collected through the jugular vein and filled into the EDTA tube and then albumin and total protein were measured. The levels of globulin were calculated by subtracting the total protein with albumin. The mean of A/G ratio in pregnant and lactation thin-tailed sheep was 0.72±0.18, and 0.57±0.15, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significantly difference in A/G ratio between pregnant and lactation (P>0.05). In conclusion, the difference in physiological status (pregnancy versus lactation) had no significant effect on the A/G ratio in thin-tailed sheep.

Thin-tailed sheep are the most widely kept sheep species in Indonesia. The neutrophils and lymphocytes (N/L) ratio can be a stress indicator for sheep. Stress conditions can cause animals to experience impaired growth, productivity, and behavioral changes. However, the study of thr N/L ratio during pregnancy and lactation in thin tailed sheep is still lacking and variations in physiological status such as pregnancy and lactation condition can cause differences in the N/L ratio. This study was conducted to determine the stress level on the physiological status of pregnant and lactating thin tailed sheep by looking at the difference in the N/L ratio. The blood samples used were seven pregnant sheep and five lactating sheep rearing in El Farm Ternak Domba Kambing dan Pendopo Sawah Kunden, Berbah, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The data obtained were analyzed using the Independent T-test method with the help of SPSS software version 16. The result of statistical analysis showed that the ratio N/L of pregnancy and lactation in thin tailed sheep was no significant difference (P>0.05). However, the average N/L ratio in pregnant conditions was higher, it was 0.61 ± 0.95, while in lactation conditions, it was 0.23 ± 0.30. The conclusion obtained from this study showed that the difference in the physiological status of pregnancy and lactation had no significant effect on the N/L ratio in ewes and the two physiological conditions of the studied sheep were still within normal limits.

This study were aimed to determine the dry matter and organic matter intake, nutrients digestibility, body weight gain and physiological status of male Bligon goats treated with feed restriction. Six Bligon goats average age of 12 months and an average body weight of 23.6 kg were fed 40% of peanut raughages (rendeng) and 60% concentrate. Goats were divided into two (2) treatment groups. Control goat treatment were fed diets based on dry matter (DM) requirements 3.5% of body weight, and feed restriction goat treatment were fed diets with 50% reduction of DM requirement. Feed restriction was conducted for 35 days. The variables measured were dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) intake, total digestibility nutrient (TDN) intake, body weigh gain, dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) digestibility, rectal temperature, respiration frequency, and heart rate. Data were analyzed by independent samples T-test. The results showed that the feed restriction significantly decreased consumption of DM (676.07 ± 14.76 into 372.30 ± 53.08) and OM (639.38 ± 15.89 into 349.88 ± 49.35), consumption of TDN (461.60 ± 10.23 into 253.99 ± 36.17), DM digestibility (74.39 ± 1.60 into 71.27 ± 0.89) and OM digestibility (79.42 ± 1.54 into 76.34 ± 0.24), but had no significant effect on body temperature, respiration frequency and heart rate (pulsus) of male Bligon goat. Value of ADG was 55.24 g/day (P0) then increased to 131.43 g/day when the feed was filled back. A feed restriction up to 50% decreased goat production performance, but did not interfere with the health status of livestock (can be indicated from physiological status of goat still in the normal range).

The objective of this research was to evaluate metabolism of inorganic phosphat (Pi) and calcium (Ca) in kacang goats subjected to 60-d feed restriction and 60-d full feeding (refeeding). Nine adult male goats were divided into three groups used in this study. Restrictions include 40% (group I), 50% (group II), and 60% (group III) of the ration of dry fodder. To obtain the baseline all animals from all groups were fullfeeding from the start of the study (day 0) to day 60 then followed by restriction stage on day 61 to day 120. The next stage is refeeding from day 121 to 180. Pi and Ca levels were analyzed on days 60, 120, and 180, respectively. The results showed that restriction followed by refeeding decreased Ca levels in all three groups and Pi of animals in groups II and III was below the baseline. The level of Pi reach above the baseline were seen only in animals in group I following restriction and refeeding, although there was a tendency to decrease after refeeding. Based on the results of the study it is concluded that the restriction followed by refeeding decreases the level of Pi and Ca in adult male kacang goats. ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji metabolisme fosfat inorganik (Pi) dan kalsium (Ca) selama 60 hari restriksi (pembatasan) pakan yang diikuti dengan 60 hari pemberian pakan kembali secara fullfeeding (refeeding) pada kambing kacang jantan dewasa. Sembilan ekor kambing kacang jantan dewasa terbagi menjadi tiga kelompok digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Restriksi meliputi 40% (kelompok I), 50% (kelompok II), dan 60% (kelompok III) dari 3,5% bahan kering dari bobot badan. Tahap awal sebagai baseline dimulai dengan pemberian pakan fullfeeding pada hari ke-0 sampai hari ke-60 dilanjutkan dengan tahap restriksi dimulai pada hari ke-61 sampai hari ke-120. Tahap berikutnya adalah refeeding mulai hari ke-121 sampai dengan hari ke-180. Level Pi dan Ca dianalisis pada hari ke-60, 120, dan 180. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa restriksi yang diikuti refeeding menurunkan level Ca pada ketiga kelompok dan Pi kelompok II dan III di bawah baseline. Level Pi berada di atas baseline hanya pada kelompok I setelah restriksi dan refeeding, meskipun cenderung menurun setelah refeeding Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa restriksi yang diikuti dengan refeeding menurunkan level Pi dan Ca pada kambing kacang jantan dewasa.

Over the recent years, villagers in the countryside havefaced the problem of limited resources for livestock and crop productions. Decreased land quality and agricultural land areawith respect to the increased need for housing landhas resulted in economic and environmental problems for livestock farmers in this area. Most livestock farmers have poor standard of education, limited ownership of land and livestock, and are not capable of managing the natural resources in sustainable ways. The present services for small livestock farmersare aimed to transform the unintegrated livestock and agricultural farming into a sustainable integrated system in the marginal community. Some efforts were conducted to improve knowledge and skills in zero waste system in livestock and agricultural farming by livestock farmers in marginal areas. The present community development programs were conducted using farmer-centered learning methods (participative learning) and mentoring by professionals on the implementation of sustainable integrated farming system (learning by practice). Furthermore, institutional development and cooperative networking with related parties were carried out. Results showed that the livestock farmerswere able to adopt integrated farming practices and the community was capable of independently producing organic fertilizer from livestock wastes and converting agricultural byproducts into animal feed. Both farmers and villagers have come together to cultivate fruit and vegetable plantations in vacant lands and back yards which were previously unused. The farmers’ group has successfully networked with the related partners to ensure sustainability of environmental conservation efforts and improvement of livelihood. In conclusion, active participation of farmersin the marginal area throughout the development process and mentored-practice are key factors for successful agricultural transformation in the marginal community. Implementation of the sustainable integrated farming system will ensure food security, environmental protection and safety, conservation of natural resources, and better quality of life.

The study was aimed to investigate the effects of restricted feeding for four weeks on some bloodchemistry and seminal parameters in kacang goats. Six adult clinically healthy male kacang goats wereused in this study. Each animal was kept in individual box for 12 weeks. Animal was fed with aerial partof peanut plant and concentrate with ratio of 60:40. The experiment was devided into two feeding periods,fullfeeding and restricted feeding. After four weeks adaptation (week 1-4), each animal was fullfed formaintenance plus medium activity (a quantity of dry matter at the level of 3% of body weight) for fourweeks (week 5-8) and then was fed only 50% of the fullfeeding nutritional level for the following four weeks restricted feeding period (week 9-12). During the experiment, drinking water was supplied ad libitum.Each animal was ejaculated at weekly intervals by means of standard artificial vagina for small ruminant.Blood and semen samples were collected at the end of the ad libitum and restricted feeding period for bloodchemistry and seminal parameters analyses. Statistical differences were determined by paired t-test. A0.05 probability level was used as criterion to describe statistically significant differences. Restrictedfeeding at the dry matter intake level of 1.5% body weight for four weeks did not result in significantchanging of serum glucose and total protein concentrations as well as seminal parameters. The level ofblood chemistry and seminal parameters during the feed restriction period were within the values reportedfor clinically healthy goats. It is concluded that feeding with a restricted quantity of dry matter at the levelof 1.5% of body weight for four weeks is not detrimental to health and reproduction in male kacang goats.
