A Just Transition aims to develop capacity for a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy while maximizing benefits and minimizing hardships for working communities.1 The ideation and implementation of such a sweeping, intersectional policy framework requires thoughtful conversation, collaborative action, and years of dedication from community members and policy makers alike. On November 3, 2023, the Natural Resources Journal, through the University of New Mexico School of Law, and the New Mexico Speaker of the House, Javier Martínez, hosted the Symposium on New Mexico's Just Transition.2 Students from the law school and the Natural Resources Journal had the opportunity to collaborate with community groups and workers, members of the Legislature, and professors to develop the Symposium's fundamental topics. They were guided by members of the Center for Civic Policy, Somos un Pueblo Unido, Naeva, the University of New Mexico School of Law, the Sustainable Economy Advisory Council, and the Office of the New Mexico Speaker of the House, and this work culminated in an event with over 120 people in attendance.3 We provide the following summary of the discussions to memorialize the event and the ideas explored there.
