The article describes a subsystem of exercises and tasks for the formation of English language lexical competence in professionally oriented active reading for students of the field of knowledge 19 Architecture and construction, specialty 192 Construction and civil engineering. The stages of the formation of English-language lexical competence in professionally oriented active reading are determined and characterized: 1) acquaintance, 2) automation, 3) application. To form this competence, we consider effective the following methods of active reading: Know- Want-Learn (KWL), SQ3R (Survey, Questions, Read, Recall, Review) and examples of exercises and tasks performed at each stage of working with authentic texts. The subsystem of exercises and tasks is described and implemented at the pre-text, text and post-text stages of work. All educational information for the formation of lexical competence in English reading is accompanied by an authentic visualization which we understand as conditionally technical (drawings, figures, photographs, diagrams, charts, graphs, videos, etc.). Authentic visualization of educational information is developed as a supplement to textual material for better understanding and perception information on the specialty and complements it. The organization of the stages of lexical competence formation is taken into account during the developing the exercises and tasks.

This research is conducted to describe the effect of SQ3R method toward students’ activeness and achievement in English subject of students at SMPNegeri 06 Lebong. This research was classroom action research and quasi experiment. In this research, an action research conducted collaboratively between researchers themselves as teachers of the school in question, and another teacher as an observer. In the action this study using SQ3R method to increase the activeness and achievement of students who have find still very low. The subjects of study were students of class IX.1 for action class room research and students of class IX.2 dan IX.3 for experiment research SMPN 06. The data was collected using activeness questionnaire, documentation, field notes and test results to learn. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis, which describes the data by using the phrase to obtain a clear and detailed description. The results of this study indicate that (1) the use of SQ3R method couldincrease the students’ activeness; (2) the use of SQ3R could increase the students’ achievements; (3) the effectiveness of the SQ3R method could increase the students’ achievement in English subject.

This research was motivated by low ability in English subject, reading comprehension in particular among students in Mechanical Engineering study program. Politeknik Harapan Bersama. Based on some related studies, SQ3R technique is as one of learning techniques that proved to enhance reading skills. This research was conducted with the assumption that the technique was able to improve reading comprehension. Therefore, the purpose of the current study was to determine the effect of SQ3R technique on students' reading comprehension. The research presented 2 variables namely SQ3R technique (X) and reading comprehension (Y). Pre-Experimental method of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design was implemented with one class of Mechanical Engineering consisting 26 male and 1 female student involved during the study. Data were gained through cloze test and observation sheet. All data were then processed and analyzed quantitatively to determine the effect of the SQ3R technique on the students' ability to comprehend the passage. The results showed that tcount (5.001) was greater than ttable (2.080). Thus, this can be concluded that SQ3R technique has positive effect (54.4%) on the students' reading comprehension.

The objectives of the research were to investigate whether there was a statistically significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension achievement after the implementation of DRTA strategy and SQ3R strategy. Furthermore, the approach used in this research was quantitative. The subjects were 32 students for DRTA group and 31 students for SQ3R group of Junior High school 9 Bandar Lampung. The reading tests were used as the research instrument. In addition, the data were analyzed by using Repeated Measure t-test. The result showed that there was a statically significant difference of students’ reading comprehension with the significant level 0.05. From the result, it is suggested that SQ3R strategy can facilitate students better to improve their achievement in reading comprehension. Ideally grade 4 elementary school students should have understood the contents of the reading well, but in reality, there are still difficulties in understanding the main points of a text. This is marked when students have enabled to determine the main idea of a particular paragraph because of a lack of attention in learning. If this problem is not followed up, the learning objectives can be difficult to achieve. By conducting this research, the researcher wants to know whether reading by applying the SQ3R method can work effectively so that the level of student understanding will increase. Researchers used a qualitative approach in their research, then Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kemmis and McTaggart models as research methods. The place that has been determined by the researcher is SDN Karodangan which is located in Taktakan, Serang. The main points discussed by the researcher were students who were in grade 4 which consisted of 9 students. The action that has been carried out has proven an increase in students' reading comprehension skills. Before the action, the average value of students' reading comprehension skills was 43.3 and 22.2% as a percentage. When the first action, the average value of students' reading comprehension skills obtained was 60 and 44.4% as a percentage. Then the second action, the average value of students' reading comprehension skills increased to 85.5 and 88.8% as a percentage. Based on the description of thedata, it concluded that the SQ3R method has proven to be effective in capturing students' attention so that their understanding can increase.

This paper presents students’ ability in reading toward TOEIC score. SQ3R method was used to improve LP3I students’ reading score in TOEIC test. In LP3I, students have to reach score 450 minimally as a consideration to conduct their final project and to be a job applicant when they are promoted by LP3I after they graduated from LP3I. The data were taken from students’ pretest and posttest of TOEIC test. Then, the data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman analysis. SQ3R method was implemented in order to guide students in reading a text by following some steps; survey, question, reading, review and recite. Through giving motivation and keeping practice using SQ3R, students would improve their reading score in TOEIC test.

This study examines the effect of SQ3R methods on Chinese reading comprehension for Year 3 pupils and determine pupils’ perceptions toward using SQ3R methods. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental design. The sample were 68 Year Three pupils from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) in Tangkak district. The sample were pupils from two classes and divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was taught using SQ3R method while the control group was taught using the conventional teaching methods. Quantitative data were collected through pretest, post test and questionnaire. T-test was used to test the hypotheses. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan metode SQ3R terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik kelas IV SD Negeri Karanglo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah True Experimental Design dengan desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Sedangkan prosedur penelitian yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan model penelitian dari ahli Sugiyono. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian berupa tes dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan metode SQ3R lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan metode diskusi bagi peserta didik kelas IV SD Negeri Karanglo. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dari hasil t-test angket dengan taraf signifikansi 95 % (0,05) diperoleh t hitung (2,575) > t tabel (2,037) serta hasil t-test hasil belajar dengan taraf signifikansi 95 % (0,05) diperoleh t hitung (2,963) > t tabel (2,037). Berdasarkan nilai t hitung tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode SQ3R lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan metode diskusi.

Low activity, student creativity in the learning process can result in the teaching and learning process being less than optimal so that the material presented is incomplete according to the expected completeness criteria. From the results of observations and discussions with the history subject teacher, information is obtained that the learning system has not fully involved students as the subject of learning consequently the final result to be achieved, namely individual and classical learning completeness with KKM (minimum completeness criteria) has not been achieved. One of the efforts made to improve the process and student learning outcomes, a learning method is used that makes it easier for students to compile and understand information or the content of the lesson text in increasing understanding of social studies subject matter so that learning outcomes are expected to increase, through the use of the SQ3R method. Based on the background of the problem, the formulation of the problem in this study is: "How are the students' learning outcomes increased through the SQ3R method in history learning for students of XII SMA Negeri 1 Tembilahan Hulu Indragiri Hilir? "The purpose of this study is to determine the activities of teachers and students as well as the improvement of student learning outcomes in history subjects through the SQ3R method for class XI SMAN 1 Kateman Indragiri Hilir. The conclusion of this study is that the student learning outcomes, before CAR the average daily test was 64.3, after the CAR based on the daily test cycle I increased to 81.8 and was included in the good category. In the second cycle of daily tests, it increased again to 92.8 and was included in the very good category. Thus, the use of the SQ3R method can improve student learning outcomes in history learning for class XII at SMAN 1 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency

Identifying learning of the information in explanatory text requires creativity in its implementation. One of the things that affect identifying learning of the information in explanatory text is the students’ reading intensity. Therefore, it takes the most effective learning method to be applied and the learning method chosen is the SQ3R method. The purpose of this study was to explain the effectiveness of identifying learning of information in explanatory text by using the SQ3R method based on the reading intensity of the XI grade students at Madrasah Aliyah. The method used in this study was an experimental research design with a quasi-experimental factorial. The sample of this research is students of class IX MAN 2 Kudus. The collection of data uses identifying learning of the explanatory text information and reading intensity test to determine high or low reading intensity. Non-test data collection uses observation and photo documentation. The results of this study were (1) The SQ3R learning method was effective in identifying information in explanatory text for class XI students of Madrasah Aliyah with an increase of 12.23, from an average of 66.51 to 78.74. This study aims to determine differences in reading comprehension skills in Indonesian subjects before and after using the Method Question Read Recited Review Survey (SQ3R) for students in the SDN 05 Pemuar. This research was conducted based on the background of the problem of teacher-centered learning processes, this is what makes students less active and look passive in the classroom, therefore students have difficulty absorbing the material and causing students' reading skills to understand the story text is less. Through this research the researcher hopes to be able to improve students' reading comprehension skills, especially in learning Indonesian in class III SDN 05 Pemuar. This research is an experimental study using thePretest-Posttest One-Group Design. The population in this study included all third gradestudents of SDN 05 PEMUAR with a sample of 14 people consisting of 9 male students and 5 female students. The sample used in this study is a saturated sample, therefore all members of the population are sampled. The preliminary data of this study usedavaluepretest with an average of 61.75 and an averagescore of posttest70.35.Based on the results of research tests of reading comprehension of students' understanding shows the value of t count of 49.571 and t table of 42.048 so that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted because t count> from t table. So it can be concludedthat with the Method it Question Read Recited Review Survey (SQ3R) has been proven effective against students' reading comprehension abilities, especially in class III SDN 05 Pemuar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman siswa tentang konsep minyak bumi hasil pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe SQ3R (Survey-Question-Read-Recite-Review) di SMA Negeri 4 Palangka Raya Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas XI MIA-3 SMA Negeri 4 Palangka Raya Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018 sebanyak 24 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes pemahaman konsep berupa essay yang Diberikan saat pretes dan postes, lember pengelolaan pembelajran dan angket respon siswa. Data pemahaman konsep siswa diperoleh dari hasil tes tertulis berupa essay yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe SQ3R. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Rata-rata pemahaman konsep siswa kelas XI MIA-3 SMAN 4 Palangka Raya tahun ajaran 2017/2018 adalah sebesar 84,3 %.Pemahaman siswa setiap konsep adalah sebagai berikut : (i) sebagian besar siswa (84,3 %) dapat menjelaskan teori pembentukkan minyak bumi menurut teori Duplex. (ii) Sebagian besar siswa (89,1 %) dapat menjelaskan komponen-komponen utama minyak bumi. (iii) Sebagian besar siswa (78,9 %) dapat menjelaskan hasil fraksi minyak bumi yang mempunyai atom C11-C14 dan kegunaannya. (iv) Sebagian besar siswa (82,2 %) dapat menjelaskan hasil fraksi minyak bumi dengan titik didih terendah dan kegunaannya. (v) Sebagian besar siswa (88,6 %) dapat menjelaskan kualitas bensin berdasarkan bilangan oktan. Langkah-langkah model pembelajaran SQ3R yang paling berperan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa adalah pada kegiatan Question, Read and Recite.

SQ3R is a method to get knowledge from reading sources. Thus, the contents of a reading source will become effective as a knowledge, in this case the knowledge instructed by the lecturer in the "English for Specific Purpose" Course. The desired knowledge obtained is the knowledge of "ISO" (International Organization for Stadardization) . After getting the contents of a reading about the "ISO", the lecturer will form a group for a conversation simulation in a company meeting by using the "Role Play" method, where students in the group will act as managers in a company. The limitation of this research is to only focus on the role of the SQ3R method on the "Role Play" method as one of the methods for teaching students' Speaking Skills at STIA Banten, especially students of the "English for Specific Purpose" class. In conducting this research, the author used the Action Research method or take certain actions or treatments to see the success of students to be able to communicate. Then, the data used is observation data with recording techniques and also the value of student learning outcomes. The results achieved in this study are that there is a close relationship between SQ3R conducted by students to find out about "ISO" and then practice it in the classroom using the "Role Play" method. From the results obtained by students, there is also visible progress before using the SQ3R method with students' speaking ability after using the SQ3R method.

Peserta didik membutuhkan bahan ajar yang dapat digunakan secara mandiri dimanapun dan kapanpun ia berada. Penggunaan LKS matematika berbasis SQ3R ini dapat membantu peserta didik dalam melatih kemampuannya untuk belajar secara mandiri dan dapat digunakan kapanpun sesuai keinginan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas dari pengembangan LKS matematika berbasis SQ3R untuk peserta didik homeschooling setara SMA kelas X. Kriteria efektivitas yang dinilai adalah kelayakan, hasil uji tes LKS sebagai produk pengembangan dan respon peserta didik dalam penggunaan produk pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Model Dick and Carey yang meliputi, identifikasi tujuan instruksional, identifikasi analisis instruksional, analisis karakteristik peserta didik dan konteks pembelajaran, perumusan tujuan pembelajaran, pengembangan instrumen penilaian, pengembangan strategi pembelajaran, pengembangan dan pemilihan bahan ajar, perancangan evaluasi formatif, revisi produk pembelajaran dan perancangan evaluasi sumatif. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan menunjukkan bahwa kualitas pengembangan LKS berbasis SQ3R pada materi satuan sudut dan perbandingan trigonometri untuk peserta didik homeschooling setara SMA kelas X dikategorikan sangat layak dengan rata-rata persentase keseluruhan sebesar 86,06%, dikatakan efektif karena hasil uji coba tes dan respon peserta didik mendapatkan rata-rata persentase sebesar 86% dan 87% dengan kategori sangat baik.

The ability of students to read comprehension is relatively low, especially in understanding the reading text of the report of observations, so we need a learning innovation that can improve students' ability to read comprehension through the application of the SQ3R strategy. The formulation of the problem in this study are (1) How is the ability to read text comprehension reports on students' observations? (2) What is the ability to read understanding text reports of students' observations after using the SQ3R strategy? (3) Is the application of the SQ3R learning strategy effective in learning to read the text of the observation report? The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the ability of students to read the understanding of the text of the observation report. (2) describe the ability of students to read the text of the observation report after using SQ3R. (3) describe the effectiveness of the use of SQ3R in learning to read the text of the observation report. This study uses the Pre Experiment research method with the One-Group Pretest-Postest design. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the ability to read comprehension in the text of the student's observation report. This is indicated by an increase in the average reading comprehension value of 15.98 from the average results before the implementation of the SQ3R learning strategy by 55.83 and after the implementation of the SQ3R strategy by 71.81. So that the SQ3R strategy is effectively applied to the learning of reading comprehension of the observation report text.

This study aims to describe the implementation of SQ3R in teaching reading comprehension and to identify students' responses to the implementation of SQ3R. This study uses a qualitative case study conducted at one of the state vocational school in Purwakarta. It involves 4 students. Data were collected through observation and interviews. The data from 2 instruments were analyzed qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of SQ3R helps students to understand English words. According to Apandi (2011), SQ3R helps the students to understand English words. The students also responded positively to the implementation of SQ3R. Therefore, SQ3R is recommended to be implemented in teaching reading comprehension.

Dokkai or reading understanding in Japanese is one of the lessons that combines several skills such as kanji, sentence pattern, translation, and culture. From all those several skills dokkai is a lesson that need accuracy. The obstacles in learning dokkai as the error understanding and error translation is a problem that must be overcome. This research is using the method of SQ3R, that are survey, question, read, recite, and review. These stages can describes reading or discourse into several part that can be easily understood. This research is the action research that using two cycle, each cycle consists of 2 meetings. The object of the research is the students of the 7thsemester that took Jyoukyuu Dokkai as the lesson. The result of the research from the action that using this method is the skills of the students in understanding discourse become increase, finish is study and the activities become better than before. The student has the new method in understanding new reading and discourse.

This research was conducted to improve the reading comprehension ability of the students of Economic Department at STIS Nuruddhalam, Sumenep through SQ3R strategy. Due to the problem found that the reading comprehension ability of the students to comprehend the text was unsatisfactory. This research employed two –cycle’s classroom action research and implemented in the 20 students of the first semester of the Students of Economic Department STIS Nuruddhalam, Sumenep. The instruments to collect the data were observation sheet, field notes and the reading comprehension test. The result of this research dicated that SQ3R strategy improved the student's reading comprehension ability that can be seen from the student's score in post test through their gain compare with their score in pretest. In cycle I there were 10 out of the students (50%) achieved 10 points greater than their score in pretest. While in cycle II, there were 15 students out of 20 students (75%) achieved 10 points greater than their score in pretest. Besides, the implementation of the SQ3R strategy was successful in improving the students' participation.

This research is motivated by the poor ability of mathematical reasoning and student motivation.The research is Quasi Experimental research. The research design is used NonequivalentControl Group Design. The population is class VIII SMP Islamiyah Weru Cirebon in academicyear 2016/2017. The technique in the research is Sampling Purposive. Sample involves eighthgrade students, the 33 class VIII A as an experimental class and class VIII B of the 36 studentsas the control class. Based on the result of the difference of the average of post-test using the testof Independent-Sample T Test equals Sig. (1-tailed) score 0,000 < 0,05 means Ho rejected, showthe ability of students learning mathematical reasoning using models SQ3R betterthan students whose learning conventionally. Then the difference of the average using ofN-gain using the test of Independent-Sample T Test equals Sig. score (1-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05means Ho rejected, show increasing the mathematical reasoning skills students arelearning to use the model SQ3R better than students whose learning conventionally.Keywords: SQ3R and ability of mathematical reasoning

The objective of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of SQ3R strategy on students’ reading comprehension at State Junior High School 2 of Bululawang. The study used quantitative method with quasi-experimental design because there were two different groups for the samples namely experimental and control group and also the researcher gave different treatment for both experimental and control group. For experimental group the researcher taught by using SQ3R strategy while for control group the researcher taught by using skimming-scanning strategy. The researcher took VII A as control group and VIID as experimental group by using flipping coin. The instrument of this study was a reading test conducted twice as a pretest and post-test and the supporting instrument was a questionnaire. The results of hypothesis test showed that significance value was 0.000. So, there was a significance effect of SQ3R strategy on students’ reading comprehension at State Junior High School 2 of Bululawang. In other words, SQ3R strategy was effective and applicable for seventh grade students at State Junior High School 2 of Bululawang specifically on descriptivetext. Indeed, this strategy is recommended for teachers and students in learning English especially in reading skill to increase the students’ reading comprehension and stimulate the students’ activeness during teaching-learning process. The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method in reading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method. This research took place at SMPN 1 Mila. There was1 class chose as the sample with 24 students in class. The class was taught by using SQ3Rmethod.The instrument used to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test and post test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that post -test was higher than pre-test Key Words: reading, SQ3Rmethod.

This service aims to increase reading interest in tsanawiah madrasah students or equivalent to junior high schools (SMP) with SQ3R reading techniques that can be applied in reading textbooks. The method of activities used in this service in the form of training/workshops and training results are simulated directly to each student through stages (1) Survey (2) Questions/questions (3) Read/read (4) Recite/Recall/Repeat/Retell and (5) Review/review/review. The trainees were 26 students from Tsanawiah Raudhatusyuban Madrasah and involved two teachers. The results of this service show that the reading ability of students of the Tsanawiah madrasah or equivalent to junior high school is still deficient so that the existence of reading training with the SQ3R method is expected to increase students' interest and reading skills.

This study aims to determine the effect of learning to read students using SQ3R method with student who don’t use the SQ3R method. The problem in this research is the difficulty of students in identifying a problem in a narrative reading text to determine the character, character, and setting in a story. In this study using a true experimental design research design with two classes in the control class and experimental class and two different treartment namely using treatment and not using treatment. In the control class in order to determine the effect on the two classes of researcher. On the result of the calculation of the classes in the control and experimental class there is a significant effect of students reading learning after being taught using the SQ3R method. Thus Ha: there is no significant effect of students reading learning after being taught using the SQ3R method. Ho: there is a significant effect of students reading learning after being taught using SQ3R method. In this explanation, it is evident that there is an influence of learning to read using the SQ3R method.

The article deals with the applying of active methods in reading and the formation of linguistic competence for teaching English for specific purposes (ESP) to future bachelors in the field of Civil Engineering.Purpose of the research is to describe linguistic competence as an important component of the process of teaching active methods in reading to future engineers, to define some active methods in reading that can be implemented in the teaching of ESP in the process of training future civil engineers.Methods. Reviewing the studies on linguistic competence in reading in the process of teaching ESP and methods of active reading.Results. Prospects for teaching methods of active reading (KWL and SQ3R) to future engineers in the ESP teaching process are described. The definition of lexical competence and its components in the process of teaching methods of active reading is given. The difficulties of teaching active reading in ESP for students of technical specialties are determined.Conclusion. Taking into account that creativity and active participation are important factors in motivating students to learn ESP, we consider it appropriate to use methods of active reading (KWL and SQ3R) in combination with other intensive methods and technologies to train future engineers. We believe that exercises and tasks with different forms and models of authentic visualization of educational information (AVEI) for learning English vocabulary in professionally oriented reading are effective. AVEI, taken from professional articles and other authentic materials in the field of civil engineering, can contribute to the formation of lexical competence of students.

This study is based on a novel conceptual framework, precision education, and takes a blended Python programming course as an example to explore how to implement precision education that includes diagnosis, prediction, prevention and treatment. Precision education follows the principles of personalized services for precision medicine. Its purpose is to strengthen the learning risk prediction and early intervention mentioned in emerging learning analytics through big data, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, thereby improving teacher teaching quality and student learning efficiency. This study is based on the design of the e-book learning dashboard, so that teachers can quickly understand students’ learning status, and improve the e-book through students’ feedback on the dashboard to achieve precision diagnosis. Next, this study uses machine learning algorithms to predict students' learning performance, and thus determine whether students are at-risk to achieve precision prediction. Finally, through the correspondence between reading strategy and reading sequence, and then clearly distinguish the types of students by grouping, and use it as a treatment target for precision treatment and prevention. It is hoped that this empirical study can be used as a case study for implementing precision education.
