The purpose of the present study was to analyze Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly (APAQ) publications over the journal's fourth decade (2014–2023) and compare them with previous documentary analyses of the first 3 decades. Consistent with prior documentary analyses, publications were coded and analyzed based on the use of theory, research participants, topic, whether the study was an intervention, first-author country affiliation, and research method. The total number of published research papers increased substantially (n = 61) from the third to the fourth decade. Similar to prior documentary analyses, most of the research was quantitative (n = 140; 57.5%), followed by qualitative research (n = 96; 39.5%). There were far more qualitative-research publications in the fourth decade compared with the third decade (n = 34). This may reflect the continued acceptance and growth of qualitative research compared with 10–20 years ago. It may also reflect the value of rich in-depth exploratory research using small samples. Additional trends included more review papers and meta-analyses, possibly reflecting the increased knowledge base in particular areas requiring synthesis. The diversity of topics also increased, with papers on dignity, classification, coaching, and the Paralympics playing more prominent roles. The number of international publications also grew substantially. Purpose: Dental implants are an established treatment option for varying edentulous conditions that has grown in popularity since the 1990s. This increased clinical application has shown a parallel increase in implant-related research. The objective of this paper was to perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of five dental implantology journals from 1991 to 2023. Materials and Methods: A search was done in the Web of Science database between 1991 and 2023 in five journals with a focus on dental implantology: Clinical Oral Implant Research, Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, Implant Dentistry, The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, and International Journal of Oral Implantology. Results marked as a correction, retraction notice, retracted article, meeting abstract, or withdrawn publication were removed from the analysis. The time period analyzed was divided into four time periods, organized by decade: 1991 to 2000, 2001 to 2010, 2011 to 2020, and 2021 to 2023. Additionally, the top 100 cited papers were also exported separately. Authors and countries with most publications were tabulated from the Web of Science database. VOSviewer software was used to create network maps of keywords and title word occurrences for each of the time periods. HistCite software was used to analyze the number of publications and citation counts. Results: Network maps of keywords and title word occurrences suggested an early focus on osseointegration and titanium implants between 1991 and 2000. Publications between 2001 and 2010 saw a focus on in vivo studies, implant surface, and peri-implantitis. Publications from 2011 and later saw a focus on bone regeneration, complications, and zygomatic implants. The USA ranked highest in total number of publications in all analyzed time periods. Conclusions: Within the limitations of the present study, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis from 1990 to 2023 was reported. Purpose: The purpose of this survey was to create a list of essential historical and contemporary readings for undergraduate and graduate students in the field of exercise physiology. Methods: Fifty-two exercise physiologists/sport scientists served as referees, and each nominated ∼25 papers for inclusion in the list. In total, 396 papers were nominated by the referees. This list was then sent back to the referees, with the instructions to nominate the "100 essential papers in sports and exercise physiology." Results: The referees cast 4722 votes. The 100 papers with the highest number of votes received 51% (2406) of the total number of votes. A total of 37 papers in the list of "100 essential papers" were published >50 years ago, and 63 papers were published since 1973. Conclusions: This list of essential studies will provide a perspective on contemporary studies, the "giant's shoulders" to enable young scholars to "see further" or to understand where they have "come from." This compilation is also meant to impress on students that, given the (lack of) technology available in the past, some of the early science required enormous intuitive leaps on the part of historical scientists. Institutional discovery environments now serve as central resource databases for researchers in the academic environment. Over the last several decades, there have been numerous discovery layer research inquiries centering primarily on user satisfaction measures of discovery system effectiveness. This study focuses on the creation of a largely automated method for evaluating discovery layer quality, utilizing the bibliographic sources from student research projects. Building on past research, the current study replaces a semiautomated Excel Fuzzy Lookup Add-In process with a fully scripted R-based approach, which employs the stringdist R package and applies the Jaro-Winkler distance metric as the matching evaluator. The researchers consider the error rate incurred by relying solely on an automated matching metric. They also use Open Refine for normalization processes and package the tools together on an OSF site for other institutions to use. Since the R-based approach does not require special processing or time and can be reproduced with minimal effort, it will allow future studies and users of our method to capture larger sample sizes, boosting validity. While the assessment process has been streamlined and shows promise, there remain issues in establishing solid connections between research paper bibliographies and discovery layer use. Subsequent research will focus on creating alternatives to paper titles as search proxies that better resemble genuine information-seeking behavior and comparing undergraduate and graduate student interactions within discovery environments. Despite ongoing efforts to improve database accessibility, aggregated database vendors concede that they do not have complete control over document accessibility. Instead, they point to the responsibility of journal publishers to deliver articles in an accessible format. This may increase the likelihood that users with disabilities will encounter articles that are not compatible with a screen reader. To better understand the extent of the problem, a document accessibility audit was conducted of randomly selected articles from EBSCO's Library & Information Source database. Full-text articles from 12 library science journals were evaluated against two measures of screen reader compatibility: HTML format (the optimal format for screen readers) and PDF accessibility conformance. Findings showed inconsistencies in HTML format availability for articles in the selected journals. Additionally, the entire sample of PDF articles failed to meet the minimum standard of PDF Universal Accessibility of containing a tagged structure. To study library guides, as published on Springshare's LibGuides platform, new approaches are needed to expand the scope of the research, ensure comprehensiveness of data collection, and reduce bias for content analysis. Computational methods can be utilized to conduct a nuanced and thorough evaluation that critically assesses the resources promoted in library guides. Web-based library guides are curated by librarians to provide easy access to high-quality information and resources in a variety of formats to support the research needs of their users. Recent scholarship considers library guides as valuable resources and as de facto publications, highlighting the need for critical study. In this article, the authors present a novel model for comprehensively gathering data about a specific genre of books from individual LibGuide pages and applying computational methods to explore the resultant data. Beginning with a pre-selected list of 159 books, we programmatically queried the titles using the LibGuides Community search engine. After cleaning and filtering the resultant data, we compiled a list of 20,484 book references (of which 6,212 are unique) on 1,529 LibGuide pages. By testing against inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevancy, we identified a total of 281 titles relevant to our topic. To gain insights for future study, citation analysis metrics are presented to reveal patterns of frequency, co-occurrence, and bibliographic coupling of books promoted in LibGuides. This proof-of-concept could be adopted for a variety of applications, including assessment of collections, public services, critical librarianship, and other complex questions to enable a richer and more thorough understanding of the information landscape of LibGuides. The Executive Council of the International Society of Biomechanics has initiated and overseen the commemorations of the Society's 50th Anniversary in 2023. This included multiple series of lectures at the ninth World Congress of Biomechanics in 2022 and XXIXth Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics in 2023, all linked to special issues of International Society of Biomechanics' affiliated journals. This special issue of the Journal of Applied Biomechanics is dedicated to the biomechanics of the neuromusculoskeletal system. The reader is encouraged to explore this special issue which comprises 6 papers exploring the current state-of the-art, and future directions and roles for neuromusculoskeletal biomechanics. This editorial presents a very brief history of the science of the neuromusculoskeletal system's 4 main components: the central nervous system, musculotendon units, the musculoskeletal system, and joints, and how they biomechanically integrate to enable an understanding of the generation and control of human movement. Background: The search for neuroprotective treatments for Parkinson's disease (PD) still relies largely on motor disability scales. A limitation of these tools is the strong influence of symptomatic dopaminergic treatment effects. Drawing on a wealth of published information, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of motor progression in PD and its relationships with dopaminergic therapy. Methods: We searched Medline, Embase, and Central to identify 84 publications with adequate serial motor scores to calculate progression, expressed as an increase in the percentage of maximum disability. Results: A random-effects model showed motor progression at 2.0% p.a. (95% CI 1.7–2.4%). There were no significant differences by baseline age, sample size, or observation period. However, untreated patients, in 8 publications, progressed at 4.5% p.a. compared to 1.6% p.a. in 76 studies containing individuals on dopaminergic drugs (p = 0.0004, q = 0.003). This was supported by research on phenoconversion in prodromal PD, where motor progression exceeded 5% p.a. in the 2 years before diagnosis. Starting levodopa improved pre-treatment disability by 40.3 ± 15.2%. Practically defined off state measurements increase faster than on scores by a modest degree (p = 0.05). Conclusion: This survey suggests that accurate long-term measurements of motor progression to assess disease-modifying therapies can be conducted despite the sequential commencement of dopaminergic drugs and sample attrition over time. While study designs involving prodromal or untreated PD avoid confounding effects of symptomatic treatment, different assumptions about motor progression may be needed. Single-case designs substantiate the effectiveness of interventions for people with disabilities and other populations through the repeated measurement of behavior over time. Consequently, employing accurate and reliable systems of measurement is critical to the validity of single-case designs. Much of the data in single-case research are collected through systematic direct observation. Direct observation often involves the use of time sampling, wherein an observer indicates whether a behavior occurred during a specific period. Although scholars have highlighted the potential for time sampling to distort the results of single-case design, targeted reviews indicate time sampling continues to be used in literature involving people with disabilities. The current study reviews literature from the field of special education, in which single-case designs are frequently used to evaluate the efficacy of practices. Using a large, representative sample of 1,425 randomly selected single-case design articles from 33 special education journals, we coded articles to determine the type and features of measurement systems employed by researchers. Findings indicate one-fifth of articles feature some form of time sampling. In addition, time sampling is more prevalent in journals pertaining to individuals with emotional/behavioral disorders. To improve outcomes for youth who do not respond optimally to existing treatments, we need to identify robust predictors, moderators, and mediators that are ideal targets for personalisation in mental health care. We propose a solution to leverage the Individual Patient Data Meta‐analysis (IPDMA) approach to allow broader access to individual‐level data while maintaining methodological rigour. Such a resource has the potential to answer questions that are unable to be addressed by single studies, reduce researcher burden, and enable the application of newer statistical techniques, all to provide data‐driven strategies for clinical decision‐making. Using childhood anxiety as the worked example, the editorial perspective outlines the rationale for leveraging IPDMA methodology to build a data repository, the Platform for Anxiety Disorder Data in Youth. Objective To evaluate the reliability of three artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots (ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Chatsonic) in generating accurate references from existing obstetric literature. Study Design Between mid-March and late April 2023, ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Chatsonic were prompted to provide references for specific obstetrical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in 2020. RCTs were considered for inclusion if they were mentioned in a previous article that primarily evaluated RCTs published by the top medical and obstetrics and gynecology journals with the highest impact factors in 2020 as well as RCTs published in a new journal focused on publishing obstetric RCTs. The selection of the three AI models was based on their popularity, performance in natural language processing, and public availability. Data collection involved prompting the AI chatbots to provide references according to a standardized protocol. The primary evaluation metric was the accuracy of each AI model in correctly citing references, including authors, publication title, journal name, and digital object identifier (DOI). Statistical analysis was performed using a permutation test to compare the performance of the AI models. Results Among the 44 RCTs analyzed, Google Bard demonstrated the highest accuracy, correctly citing 13.6% of the requested RCTs, whereas ChatGPT and Chatsonic exhibited lower accuracy rates of 2.4 and 0%, respectively. Google Bard often substantially outperformed Chatsonic and ChatGPT in correctly citing the studied reference components. The majority of references from all AI models studied were noted to provide DOIs for unrelated studies or DOIs that do not exist. Conclusion To ensure the reliability of scientific information being disseminated, authors must exercise caution when utilizing AI for scientific writing and literature search. However, despite their limitations, collaborative partnerships between AI systems and researchers have the potential to drive synergistic advancements, leading to improved patient care and outcomes. The authors share examples of local contexts that could contribute to the shaping of neurodiversity paradigms and movements in East Asia, complementing examples in other non-Western regions. Cited are the complexity of the linguistic nuances of the translated terms about autism in the historical and social-cultural contexts, the contribution of linguistic differences to the shaping of autism identities, and the difference of autism advocacy efforts by linguistic and social-cultural contexts.

Social sciences are increasingly recognized as significant for building a sustainable world since the social perspective can assist researchers in other fields in navigating public controversy and designing more responsible interaction mechanisms between the natural and social systems. However, the question arises: to what extent do natural sciences rely on social science research in their studies? Examining life science publications from seven PLoS journals, this paper attempts to characterize the volume and trajectory of citations from life sciences to social sciences. We explore three core questions: To what extent do life sciences cite social sciences? What actors in the life sciences are citing social sciences? Which actors in the social sciences are being cited? Our analysis estimates social sciences influence 15%–19% of life science publications, contributing to 1.1%–1.5% of references in 2018. Social science citers are found across peripheral and central topics of life science disciplines. Cited social science publications exhibit various levels of interdisciplinarity and achieve the greatest citation impact among peers. Citations to social sciences are prevalent in both theoretically and methodologically oriented sections. Background: Active Support is a staff practice that aims to increase engagement of people with intellectual disabilities. This study seeks to: (1) identify the outcomes of staff using Active Support and how these are measured; (2) identify how the views of people with intellectual disabilities have been included in Active Support research. Method: A scoping review was conducted of peer‐reviewed articles about Active Support published between 2009 and 2023. Results: Sixteen articles were identified. Outcomes included engagement, the quality of staff support, choice and challenging behaviour. Structured observations were the most frequently used measurement method. Only two studies explored people with intellectual disabilities' perspectives about Active Support. Conclusions: Consistent use of similar measures is a strength of Active Support research. Including perspectives of people with intellectual disabilities may provide insight into dimensions of support not been measured and assist in further developing these measures and Active Support practice. As Training and Education in Professional Psychology (TEPP's) outgoing editorial team ends their term, the authors reflect on the journal's contributions to health service psychology (HSP) and suggest potential priorities and opportunities as both the journal and the science of education and training continue to mature. TEPP's aim is to serve as a forum for thoughtful and rigorous conceptual and empirical investigation of current issues in HSP education and training, and for candid self-reflection about strengths, shortcomings, and growth opportunities in HSP education. The authors review the journal's contributions to this aim through three primary goals established at the beginning of their editorial term: (a) engage the broad training community in sharing its best conceptual and empirical work relevant to education and training across training levels, settings, and focus areas; (b) advance the science of education and training through strong empirical research; and (c) expand emphasis on the sociocultural context in which education and training occurs (Bell et al., 2019). The authors conclude with recommendations to the incoming TEPP editorial team and prospective authors for next steps in advancing HSP education and training. Background: Delirium leads to prolongation in intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital length of stay and an increase in ICU costs andmortality. As a result of this, the number of studies on deliriumin ICUs has recently increased significantly, and many articles have been published. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the articles related to "delirium" in "critical care" field in the Web of Science database and the first hundred most cited articles on this subject. Methods: TheWeb of Science database was searched for articles relevant to "delirium" in the critical caremedicine field published between 1980 and 2024. Text analytics and network models used in bibliometric mapping were used for prolific authors, annual trend, citation, and countries. Results: In our study, it was determined that a total of 1834 articles in the field of delirium in critical care medicine were included. It was determined that the annual citation average was 42.79 and the H-index value was 134. There is a general upward trend over the years, and it was observed that it has intensified in the last 5 to 6years. With the Reference Spectroscopy analysis, it was determined that the most intensively cited studies on delirium were the studies of 2013 and 2010. The distribution of keywords in recent years has focused on analgosedation, acute brain injury, older patient, COVID-19, and fragility. When examined for the top 100 cited articles, it was seen that mobilization, guidelines, pain, activities of daily living, anesthesia, sedation, and haloperidol have become prominent in recent years. Conclusion: In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the volume of research focusing on delirium studies within the field of critical care medicine. Staying current with trends, incorporating findings from frequently cited studies, and customizing interventions to suit modern difficulties can all improve the quality of care offered to critically ill patients and lead to better outcomes. Background: A challenge to implementation is management of the adaptation-fidelity dilemma or the balance between adopting an intervention with fidelity while assuring fit when transferred between contexts. A prior meta-analysis found that adapted interventions produce larger effects than novel and adopted interventions. This study attempts to replicate and expand previous findings. Methods: Meta-analysis was used to compare effects across a whole-population of Swedish outcome studies. Main and subcategories are explored. Results: The 523 studies included adapted (22%), adopted (33%), and novel (45%) interventions. The largest effect was found for adapted followed by novel and adopted interventions. Interventions in the mental health setting showed the highest effects, followed by somatic healthcare and social services. Conclusions: These results replicate and expand earlier findings. Results were stable across settings with the exception of social services. AbstractThe history of the origin and transformation of the ISSN Register is considered, and all publications available through Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar on the number of ISSN records and their dynamics are collected together. Data on the number of entries in the ISSN Register by country for 2014 and 2021 is presented, along with the seven-year increase in these entries in comparison with similar data for 1991 through 1998. From these data, the top ten countries were analyzed based on the maximum increase in records over these two seven-year periods. It is shown that the first list of countries with the maximum increase in the number of ISSN records for 2014 through 2021 included exclusively developing countries, and the second list (1991–1998) included mainly developed countries. Similar increases in the number of ISSN records were analyzed for the languages of serial publications and it was shown that in both language lists there was only the Turkish language and the leading European languages were absent. It is shown that the total contributions of ISSN records of leading countries and languages to the total number of ISSN records satisfy the Pareto principle for all years studied. The calculations were made on the indices of linguistic liberalization of the information space of states and information and linguistic influence (or language expansion) according to ISSN indicators. It is shown that aggregating countries by language has made it possible to significantly reduce the discrepancy between the total ISSN records for countries in which a particular language predominates and the ISSN records for a given language. These differences for calculations for 2014 and 2021 levels did not exceed 9% for English, Spanish and Portuguese, and 14% for French, which corresponds to the languages of former colonial empires. In conclusion, a linear regression relationship between ISSN/10 thousand people and GDP per capita with moderate values of the correlation coefficient was obtained in two versions, which indirectly confirms the Constancy Hypothesis. Objectives: This study aims to reveal the current knowledge map, research hotspots of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies on depression, as well as identify the brain regions associated with depression. Methods: CiteSpace was conducted to analyze the publication outputs, country, institution, cited journals, author and cited author, references, keyword cocurrence and burst keywords of fMRI studies in depression from 2010 to 2024. And a meta-analysis of fMRI was used to identify brain regions associated with depression using Neurosynth. Results: A total of 4,049 publications were included, and Gong Qiyong was the most prolific authors. Neuroimage, Biological Psychiatry, and Human Brain Mapping were prominent journals. Default mode network (DMN), prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and anterior cingulate cortex were the popular keywords. The fMRI studies on depression have mainly focused on major depression, especially the DMN. Functional connectivity and regional homogeneity of brain regions were research hotspots. The meta-analysis revealed significant differences in brain regions between patients with depression and healthy controls, including the Amygdala_L, Insula_R, Frontal_Inf_Oper_R, Cingulum_Post_L, Putamen_L, Thalamus_R, Angular_L, Precuneus_R, Frontal_Sup_R, Occipital_Inf_L. Background: Depression is a common mental disorder in children and adolescents, with a global prevalence of approximately 33%, severely affecting their physical, mental health, and academic performance. This study aims to identify and assess the 100 most-cited articles (T100 articles) on depression in children and adolescents. Methods: The T100 articles in the field of depression were retrieved from the SCI-E and SSCI databases. A comprehensive analysis of the T100 articles was conducted, including the number of citations, countries, journals, keywords, authors, and topics. Results: Between 1981 and 2021, T100 articles in child and adolescent depression received 423 to 3949 citations. Most articles originated from the USA, with Kovacs M as the top-ranked author. The University of Pittsburgh and Columbia University published the top two T100 articles. The T100 articles were published in 36 journals, led by AMA Psychiatry. Co-occurrence keywords analyses reveal six key foci: Pathogenesis of Depression, Treatment of MDD in Children, Early Childhood Treatment, Adolescent Depression Manifestations, Gender and Depression, and Primary Care Considerations, with pathogenesis as a future trend. Conclusions: Our research presents an exhaustive list of the most highly cited articles on depression in children and adolescents. Our findings not only underscore the significance of international cooperation but also reveal a pressing need to prioritize and bolster preventive research, particularly the development and refinement of early screening and intervention programs. Assessing the quality of journals in the realm of health care science and services is an intricate and vital pursuit, especially given the swift evolution of health care research amidst global challenges and technological progress. Bibliometric indicators have emerged as indispensable instruments for quantifying and comparing the impact, reach, and significance of scholarly contributions. In this study, a range of bibliometric indicators, including Impact Factor, Eigenfactor Score, Cite Score, and h-index, were utilized. We curated a list of 105 health care science and services journals using data from the Journal Citation Report (JCR) within the Web of Science (WOS), journal metrics from the Scopus database (Cite Score and SNIP), and h5-index from Google Scholar. Additionally, the SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR) was obtained from its official website. Subsequently, Bivariate Pearson's (r) and Spearman's (ρ) correlation coefficient tests were conducted to evaluate ranking correlations. The findings revealed strong Pearson's (r) statistical correlations between JIF and CS (r = 0.908) and between JIF and SJR (r = 0.875), while moderate correlations were observed between JIF and H5-median, H5-index, and SNIP (r = 0.769, r = 0.730, and r = 0.645, respectively). Spearman's rho analysis indicated high correlations between JIF and CS (ρ = 0.907) and between JIF and SJR (ρ = 0.863), with lower correlations among H5-median, SNIP, and H5-index indicators (ρ = 0.798, ρ = 0.763, and ρ = 0.750, respectively). As digitally enabled information systems play an increasingly central role in culture and economics, their negative consequences have become apparent. This guest editorial addresses the urgent need for information scientists to take a more deliberate stance in designing and guiding the evolution of these systems. We propose a framework for conceptualizing "healthier information ecosystems" by drawing on theories from complex systems and ecological research, grounded in a value‐oriented approach. The article reviews key concepts from systems science, complex systems, and ecology, with a focus on ecosystem and adaptation research. These perspectives offer analytical approaches for decomposing information ecosystems and provide a foundation for understanding "health" in the context of evolving, open systems. Unlike natural ecosystems, information ecosystems must be evaluated according to human values; thus, we articulate a set of values as a starting point for defining health in this context. By introducing insights from beyond the field of information systems, we aim to instigate scholarly dialog, connect prior work in new ways, and reveal new opportunities for research and intervention. Mendelian randomization (MR) is a flexible analytical tool that has been widely applied to strengthen causal inference in observational epidemiology and is now gaining attention in many areas including periodontal research. The interpretation of results drawn from MR is based on a series of assumptions, which can be unrealistic or difficult to meet faithfully in some settings. However, we argue that with care, this does not necessarily prevent valuable deployment of the approach. We argue that clarity of presentation as well as careful assessment of specific analytical conditions is a fundamental part of all MR analyses. To that end, awareness of its limitations should also guide the design of MR investigations and the presentation of results rather than rule out its use altogether. Notably, considerations similar to those known to be important in conventional epidemiological settings apply to MR. While MR studies are valuable in their contrast to other study limitations, the application of this technique must be carefully cross‐examined. Specific considerations include possible confounders, recruitment strategy and phenotypic measurement and differential analysis properties across studies. In the case of periodontal research, current MR applications are limited by the available evidence base for genetic contributions to periodontitis; however, this sets a specific scene for the strategic use of MR and shines light on a need for greater research emphasis on the genetics of the condition and intermediaries.
