The deviation equation of Synge and Schild has been investigated over differentiable manifolds with contravariant and covariant affine connections (whose components differ not only by sign) and metric [[Formula: see text]-spaces]. It is shown that the condition £ξu=0 for obtaining this equation is only a sufficient (but not necessary) condition. By means of a nonisotropic (nonnull) vector field u [g(u,u)=e≠0] and the metric hu, orthogonal to it, a projected deviation equation of Synge and Schild has been obtained for the orthogonal to u vector field ξ⊥ and its square L2=g(ξ⊥, ξ⊥). For a given nonisotropic, auto-parallel and normalized vector field u this equation could have some simple solutions.

The Lagrangian formalism for tensor fields over differentiable manifolds with contravariant and covariant affine connections (whose components differ not only by sign) and a metric \([(\bar L_n ,g) - spaces]\) is considered. The functional, the Lie, the covariant, and the total variations of a Lagrangian density, depending on components of tensor fields (with finite rank) and their first and second covariant derivatives, are established. A variation operator is determined and the corollaries of its commutation relations with the covariant and the Lie differential operators are found. The canonical (common) method of Lagrangians with partial derivatives (MLPD) and the method of Lagrangians with covariant derivatives (MLCD) are outlined. They differ each other by the commutation relations the variation operator has to obey with the covariant and the Lie differential operator. The covariant Euler–Lagrange equations are found on the basis of the MLCD. The energy-momentum tensors are considered on the basis of the Lie variation and the covariant Noether identities.

The notions of the Fermi covariant differential operator with its corresponding Fermi derivative and Fermi-Walker transport are generalized for the case of differentiable manifolds with an affine connection and a metric, -spaces. The generalization of Fermi-Walker transport is not unique and depends on the structure of the covariant antisymmetric tensor of second rank in the construction of the Fermi-Walker transport. The existence of such a type of transport over -spaces allows the determination of a proper non-rotating accelerated observer's frame of reference, if an -space is used as a model of the spacetime.

This study aimed to review the epidemiology and economic burden of varicella, and to perform a critical analysis of available data in LA. MethOds: A comprehensive literature review was conducted in major databases and government websites to identify published data on epidemiology and economic burden of varicella in LA. Study data were extracted systematically including incidence rates, lifetime prevalence, mortality, type and rates of complications, as well as use of health care resources (hospitalizations, physician office visits, others) and both direct and indirect costs associated with varicella. Critical analyses of study quality and data availability are performed for each country. Results: Published studies were identified from ten countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Annual incidence rates ranged from 20 per 100,000 in Uruguay up to 381 per 100,000 in Mexico. Incidence was highest among children < 10 years of age, bearing increased utilization of healt health care resources. Bimodal seasonal patterns of varicella were reported in Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay. Most frequent complications among hospitalized patients were skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory infections and neurological complications. Patients hospitalized for varicella stayed generally between 1-5 days. Critical analysis suggested that most published studies had limitations including data representativeness and study design issues. Data gaps in the epidemiology and economic burden of varicella were also found on the country level. cOnclusiOns: Currently there is limited information available on burden of varicella in Latin America, potentially due to the lack of mandatory reporting and active surveillance systems for varicella in the region. Country-specific epidemiological information and varicella-related health care resource utilization data are needed to elucidate the disease burden for developing appropriate immunization recommendations and informing decision makers about the value of varicella vaccination.

The invariant projections of the generalized canonical, symmetric, and variational energy‐momentum tensor and their divergences are investigated in spaces with affine connection and metric. Connections between the obtained quantities are found on the basis of the generalized covariant Bianchi‐type identities and the covariant Euler–Lagrange equations. It can be shown that the weak principle of equivalence can be considered as a corollary of the Euler–Lagrange equations for a given field theory.
