To evaluate the impact of preterm birth on bone health in preschool children. A total of 166 preschool children (aged 7–8 years) born preterm (n = 86, <37-week gestation) and at term (n = 80, ≥37 weeks of gestation) in our hospital were included in this prospective cross-sectional study. Data on antenatal, perinatal, and early postnatal characteristics and maternal obstetric history were obtained from medical records. Bone densitometry data including total bone mineral content (BMC), bone mineral density (BMD; total, lumbar, and femoral), z-scores, and bone loss were collected for each participant. Current height, weight, and BMI values were significantly lower in the preterm group (p <.001). Serum calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels did not differ among groups, whereas VitD3 levels were significantly higher in the preterm group (p =.039). The mean total BMC, total BMD, lumbar (L2–L4) BMD, femur BMD, total z-score, and L2–L4 z-score values were significantly lower for the preterm group, whereas the total, lumbar, and femoral bone loss were significantly higher (p <.001), regardless of the severity of prematurity. Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) and retinopathy were significantly associated with lower total BMC (p =.004, p =.012, respectively). Fortified breastfeeding was associated with lumbar bone loss (p =.043), and formula feeding was associated with both femur and lumbar bone loss (p =.006, p =.012, respectively). Our findings revealed long-term adverse effects of preterm birth on bone health, with significantly lower anthropometric values (weight, height, and BMI), lower scores for total BMC, BMD (total, lumbar, femoral), and z-scores (total, femur), along with higher bone loss (total, lumbar, femoral) and higher rates of osteopenia and osteoporosis in preschool children born preterm (whether moderate or very preterm) compared with those born at term. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious infection disease, which may cause respiratory, physical, psychological, and generalized systemic dysfunction. The severity of disease ranges from an asymptomatic infection or mild illness to mild or severe pneumonia with respiratory failure and/or death. COVID-19 dramatically affects the pulmonary system. This clinical practice guideline includes pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) recommendations for adult COVID-19 patients and has been developed in the light of the guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 provided by the World Health Organization and Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Health, recently published scientific literature, and PR recommendations for COVID-19 regarding basic principles of PR. This national guideline provides suggestions regarding the PR methods during the clinical stages of COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 with its possible benefits, contraindications, and disadvantages. Objectives: This study aims to compare the handgrip strength values of fibromyalgia (FM) patients and healthy individuals and to demonstrate the relationship between clinical factors and FM disease severity. Patients and methods: Twenty-five female patients (mean age 34±9.2 years; range 20 to 50 years) with FM and 23 age- and body mass index-similar healthy females (mean age 35.3±9.2 years; range 26 to 46) were included. Demographic characteristics of the subjects were recorded. Tender point count was noted in the patient group. Also; total myalgia score and fibromyalgia impact questionnaire scores were calculated. Handgrip strength was measured with Jamar® dynamometer. Patients who had fibromyalgia impact questionnaire scores >70 out of 100 were considered to have severe FM, while those who had scores <70 were considered to have moderate FM. Results: There were no significant differences between the patient and control groups in terms of age, height, weight, and body mass index. However, patients' handgrip strength values were lower than those of the control group (p=0.011). In the patient group, positive correlation was only present between handgrip strength and body mass index values (r= -0.510, p=0.037). There was no significant difference between moderate and severe FM patients in terms of handgrip strength values. Conclusion: Fibromyalgia patients had decreased handgrip strength when compared to healthy subjects. Handgrip strength values of moderate and severe FM patients were similar. Aim: The purposes of this study were to evaluate the activities of daily living (ADL) of Turkish children with cerebral palsy (CP) using the Turkish version of the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) measurement, and to investigate the functional changes during inpatient rehabilitation. Materials and Methods: A total of 90 consecutive children with spastic CP, aged between 6 months and 7 years, were included in the study. The Swedish classification of CP syndromes was applied. CP severity was classified with Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS). ADL were assessed in children with CP using the Turkish version of the PEDI measurement before rehabilitation (BR) and after rehabilitation (AR). Paired sample T test was applied to investigate whether there was any significant difference in PEDI subscale scores BR and AR. Results: Types of CP in the children were spastic diplegia (n = 38), spastic quadriplegia (n = 35), and spastic hemiplegia (n = 17). Symptoms were grouped by severity according to the GMFCS; 18.9% were classified at level II, 21.1% at level III, 30.0% at level IV, and 30.0% at level V. Limitations in self-care, mobility and social activities increased progressively with GMFCS level.
