Abstract: Присвячено аналізу ефективності експортного потенціалу, який значною мірою визначає фінансову стабільність держави. Доведено, що посилення зовнішньоторговельних позицій і поліпшення становища в системі світового господарства має важливе значення для економічного розвитку країни. Наголошено, що проблема є особливо важливою для сільськогосподарських товаровиробників, оскільки сучасні процеси глобалізації світової економіки забезпечили зростання конкуренції як на зовнішніх ринках, так і на внутрішньому ринку зокрема.Обґрунтовано і систематизовано показники експортного потенціалу агропродовольчої продукції. За допомогою індексу чистого експортного потенціалу визначено види продукції, які можуть забезпечити конкурентні переваги у світовому вимірі.Здійснено порівняльний аналіз показників відкритості економіки України та окремих країн світу, встановлено, що торгівельні партнери України перебувають на значно вищому рівні за показниками ВВП та експорту на одну особу. На основі проведеного аналізу ефективності українського експорту виявлено основні проблеми експортного потенціалу України та обґрунтовано шляхи їх розв’язання., This study was dedicated to the analysis of the efficiency of export potential, which largely determines the financial stability of the state. It is proved that strengthening foreign trade positions and improving the situation in the world economy is important for the economic development of the country. It is emphasized that this problem is especially important for agricultural producers, as modern processes of globalization of the world economy have increased competition both in foreign markets and in the domestic market in particular.The indicators of export potential of agro-food products were validated and arranged. Authors in the article identified types of the products that can provide competitive advantages in the global scale based on the index of net export potential.As the instrument of this study, the comparative analysis of the indicators of openness of the economy of Ukraine and other countries showed that Ukraine’s trading partners are at a much higher level in terms of GDP and export per capita. Based on the analysis of the efficiency of Ukrainian export, the main problems of Ukraine’s export potential were identified and as the result, ways to resolve them were justified., Посвящено анализу эффективности экспортного потенциала как аспекта, который в значительной мере определяет финансовую стабильность государства. Доказано, что усиление внешнеторговых позиций и улучшения положения в системе мирового хозяйства имеет важное значение для экономического развития страны. Отмечено, что данная проблема является особенно важной для сельскохозяйственных товаропроизводителей, так как современные процессы глобализации мировой экономики обеспечили рост конкуренции как на внешних рынках, так и на внутреннем рынке в частности.Обоснованы и систематизированы показатели экспортного потенциала агропродовольственной продукции. С помощью индекса чистого экспортного потенциала определены виды продукции, которые могут обеспечить конкурентные преимущества на мировом рынке.Осуществлен сравнительный анализ показателей открытости экономики Украины и отдельных стран мира, установлено, что торговые партнеры Украины находятся на более высоком уровне по показателям ВВП и экспорта на человека. На основе проведенного анализа эффективности украинского экспорта выявлены основные проблемы экспортного потенциала Украины и обоснованы пути их решения.

Abstract: Establishing a mechanism for commercialization of the results of scientific and technical activities created at the expense of budgetary funds or funds of individuals and legal entities, ensuring its functioning and attracting intellectual property to the economic turnover can ensure a significant increase in additional revenues to the budget and facilitate the expansion of innovative processes in the country. Intellectual property contains the notion of exclusive right to the results of creative work; accordingly, labor, as appropriate human activity, must end with remuneration, including financial ones. It is proposed to distinguish the specifics of the financial aspects of intellectual property from a number of differential characteristics of the subject of study in two directions, depending on the understanding of the product movement: the aspect of financial security, which heads the specificity of forms, approaches, sources of funding for research (as one of the conditions for the creation of intellectual property) the commercialization of intellectual property as an effective indicator of understanding the meaning of creating an innovative product. The dynamics of gross domestic expenditure on research, as a share of gross domestic product, in the countries that are members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and separately in 28 countries of the European Union have been analyzed. A typology of existing forms of intellectual property commercialization as a range of innovative product realization opportunities for economic benefit has been developed. The process of intellectual property commercialization is modeled, in the form of a generalized visualization of its movement to an innovative product, which involves four successive steps (the path to the market), choosing one of the forms of commercialization typology that provides the maximum possible variability for choosing the optimal strategy., Аналитически исследована динамика валовых внутренних затрат на научные исследования как долю валового внутреннего продукта в странах, которые являются членами Организации экономического сотрудничества и развития (OECD), и отдельно в 28 странах Европейского Союза. Разработана типология существующих форм коммерциализации интеллектуальной собственности как круг возможностей реализации инновационного продукта с целью получения экономической выгоды. Смоделирован процесс реализации коммерциализации интеллектуальной собственности в виде обобщенной визуализации ее движения до инновационного продукта, что предполагает четыре последовательных шага (путь к рынку), выбирая одну из форм типологии коммерциализации, которая предоставляет максимально возможную вариативность для выбора оптимальной стратегии., Побудова механізму комерціалізації результатів науково-технічної діяльності, створених за рахунок бюджетних коштів або коштів фізичних та юридичних осіб, забезпечення його функціонування i залучення об’єктів інтелектуальної власності до господарського обороту може забезпечити істотне зростання додаткових надходжень до бюджетів та сприяти розширенню інноваційних процесів у країні. Інтелектуальна власність несе поняття виключного права на результати творчої праці, відповідно праця, як доцільна діяльність людини, повинна закінчуватися винагородою, фінансовою в тому числі. Запропоновано специфіку фінансових аспектів інтелектуальної власності виокремлювати з ряду диференційних характеристик предмета дослідження у два напрями, залежно від розуміння руху продукту: аспект фінансового забезпечення, який очолює специфіку форм, підходи, джерела фінансування наукових досліджень (як однієї з умов створення інтелектуальної власності) та аспект фінансової комерціалізації інтелектуальної власності як результативного індикатора розуміння сенсу створення інноваційного продукт. Аналітично досліджено динаміку валових внутрішніх витрат на наукові дослідження як частку валового внутрішнього продукту у країнах, які є членами Організації економічного співробітництва та розвитку (OECD), та окремо у 28 країнах Європейського Союзу. Розроблено типологію наявних форм комерціалізації інтелектуальної власності як коло можливостей реалізації інноваційного продукту з метою отримання економічної вигоди. Змодельовано процес реалізації комерціалізації інтелектуальної власності шляхом узагальненої візуалізації її руху до інноваційного продукту, що припускає чотири послідовні кроки (шлях до ринку), обираючи одну з форм типології комерціалізації, яка надає максимально можливу варіативність для вибору оптимальної стратегії.

Abstract: A method for studying the expected traffic flow distribution between toll and alternative roads based on user behavior principles is proposed. It is assumed that the user’s behavior is rational: he always chooses the most suitable option. The proposed model takes into account the cost of fuel and lubricants, the time and toll of toll and alternative routes. This means that if the cost of toll and alternative roads is the same, the user will not care which route to choose. By changing the toll for 1 km, it is possible to affect the cost of the “expenses for the toll route” component and the corresponding traffic flow. Saturation of the road with vehicles will occur until, due to the complication of traffic on it, the total costs exceed those when driving another road.Analytical models are developed and proposed for:1) toll determination;2) traffic flow distribution between toll and alternative roads.The models provided information on the expected traffic flow distribution between toll and alternative routes. It is necessary for:1) economic justification of project attractiveness for private investors and project feasibility under concession;2) determination of traffic intensity, below which it is impractical for the authorities to set concession payments under the concession agreement.The use of the models proposed by the authors is presented on the materials of the project of the construction phase of the Great Kyiv Ring Road (Ukraine), Предложен метод исследования ожидаемого распределения транспортных потоков между платной и альтернативной автомобильными дорогами, в основе которого лежат поведенческие принципы пользователей. Предполагается, что поведение пользователя является рациональным: он всегда выбирает наиболее выгодный для себя вариант действий. В предложенной модели учитываются: стоимость расходов на горюче-смазочные материалы, затрат времени и расходов на оплату за проезд платным и альтернативным маршрутами. Это означает, что в случае обеспечения одинаковой стоимости затрат при движении платной и альтернативной автомобильными дорогами пользователю будет безразлично, какой маршрут выбрать. Меняя тариф за проезд 1 км платной автомобильной дорогой, можно влиять на стоимость составляющей «расходы на оплату движения платным маршрутом» и на соответствующий транспортный поток. Насыщение автомобильной дороги транспортными средствами будет происходить до тех пор, пока, из-за осложнения движения по ней, общие затраты не превысят такие затраты при движении другой дорогой.Разработаны и предложены аналитические модели:1) определения тарифа за проезд по платной дороге;2) распределения транспортного потока между платной и альтернативной автомобильными дорогами.В результате использования моделей получена информация об ожидаемом распределении транспортного потока между платным и альтернативным маршрутам движения. Она является необходимой:1) при экономическом обосновании привлекательности проекта для частных инвесторов и целесообразности реализации проекта на условиях концессии;2) для определения интенсивности движения, ниже которой органам власти устанавливать в условиях концессионного договора требования по оплате концессионных платежей нецелесообразно.Использование предложенных авторами моделей представлено на материалах проекта очереди строительства Большой кольцевой дороги вокруг г. Киев (Украина), Запропоновано метод дослідження очікуваного розподілу транспортних потоків між платною та альтернативною автомобільними дорогами, в основі якого лежать поведінкові принципи користувачів. Передбачається, що поведінка користувача є раціональною: він завжди обирає найбільш вигідний для себе варіант дій. В запропонованій моделі враховуються: вартість витрат паливно-мастильних матеріалів, витрат часу, витрат на оплату руху платним та альтернативним маршрутами. Це означає, що у разі забезпечення однакової вартості витрат на рух альтернативною та платною автомобільною дорогами користувачу буде байдуже, який маршрут обрати. Змінюючи тариф за проїзд 1 км платною автомобільною дорогою, можна впливати на вартість складової «витрати на оплату руху платним маршрутом» і, відповідно, на транспортний потік, що буде ним рухатись. Насичення автомобільної дороги транспортними засобами буде відбуватись доти, доки вартість складових «витрати часу», «спожиті паливно-мастильні матеріали» через ускладнення руху нею, не призведуть до перевищення загальних витрат користувача при русі іншою дорогою.Розроблено та запропоновано аналітичні моделі:1) визначення тарифу за проїзд платною дорогою;2) розподілу транспортного потоку між платною та альтернативною автомобільними дорогами.В результаті використання моделей отримана інформація про очікуваний розподіл транспортного потоку між платним та альтернативним маршрутами руху. Вона є необхідною:1) під час економічного обґрунтування привабливості проекту для приватних інвесторів та доцільності реалізації проекту на умовах концесії;2) визначення інтенсивності руху для платної дороги, нижче якої органам влади передбачувати сплату концесійних платежів в умовах концесійного договору недоцільно.Використання запропонованих авторами моделей представлено на матеріалах проекту черги будівництва Великої кільцевої дороги навколо м. 4. Devising a procedure for the synthesis of electromechanical systems with cascade-enabled fractional-order controllers and their study

Abstract: An approach to the synthesis of automatic control circuits has been proposed, based on a fractional characteristic polynomial, which makes it possible to ensure the desired quality of a transition process under condition for implementing a certain structure of the fractional controller, which depends on the transfer function of a control object. The use of fractional desirable forms extends the range of possible settings of fractional-order controllers in the synthesis of circuits for electrical-mechanical systems, ensures better quality of transients compared to the full-order controllers, and thereby improves the efficiency of synthesized systems. Based on the obtained results of research, it becomes possible to recommend, in order to adjust the circuits for electromechanical systems, using the proposed fractional desirable forms that could meet the desired requirements to the systems of control over electromechanical systems. Construction of electromechanical systems on the principle of control with sequential correction has a significant advantage over other systems, owing to the simplicity of setting each contour, as well as a possibility to implement control coordinate constraints. A procedure for the structural-parametric synthesis of fractional-order controllers has been devised, on condition of their cascading switching in multi-circuit electromechanical systems; the synthesis algorithm of fractional-order controllers for appropriate control circuits has been given. We have synthesized an electromechanical system with cascade switching of controllers by applying the improved method of the generalized characteristic polynomial to choose the structure and parameters of fractional-order controllers and applying the desired form of fractional order. A two-circuit system of subordinate regulation has been considered as an example, in which a control object is the electric drive "thyristor transducer (converter) – engine (motor)". The influence of the synthesized, Предложен подход к синтезу контуров систем автоматического управления на основе дробного характеристического полинома, который позволяет обеспечивать желаемое качество переходного процесса при реализации определенной структуры дробного регулятора, которая зависит от передаточной функции объекта управления. Применение дробных желаемых форм расширяет гамму возможных настроек регуляторов дробного порядка при синтезе контуров электромеханических систем, обеспечивает лучшее качество переходных процессов по сравнению с регуляторами целого порядка, и тем самым повышает эффективность синтезированных систем. На основе полученных результатов исследований для настройки контуров электромеханических систем можно рекомендовать предложенные дробные желаемые формы, как удовлетворяющие желаемые требования к системам управления электромеханических систем. Построение электромеханических систем по принципу управления с последовательной коррекцией имеет существенное преимущество перед другими системами, благодаря простоте настройки каждого из контуров, а также возможности реализации ограничения координат регулирования. Разработана методика структурно-параметрического синтеза регуляторов дробного порядка при их каскадного включения в многоконтурных электромеханических системах и приведен алгоритм синтеза регуляторов дробного порядка соответствующих контуров регулирования. Проведен синтез электромеханической системы с каскадным включением регуляторов путем применения усовершенствованного метода обобщенного характеристического полинома для выбора структуры и параметров регуляторов дробного порядка и применения желаемой формы дробного порядка. В качестве примера, рассмотрена двухконтурная система подчиненного регулирования, в которой объектом регулирования является электропривод «тиристорный преобразователь – двигатель». Исследовано влияние синтезированных регуляторов дробного порядка на динамические свойства электромеханической системы «тиристорный преобразователь –двигатель». Проведенные, Запропоновано підхід до синтезу контурів систем автоматичного керування на основі дробового характеристичного поліному, який дозволяє забезпечувати бажану якість перехідного процесу за умови реалізації певної структури дробового регулятора, яка залежить від передавальної функції об’єкта керування. Застосування дробових бажаних форм розширює гамму можливих налаштувань регуляторів дробового порядку при синтезі контурів електромеханічних систем, забезпечує кращу якість перехідних процесів, порівняно з регуляторами цілого порядку, і тим самим підвищує ефективність синтезованих систем. На основі отриманих результатів досліджень для налагодження контурів електромеханічних систем можна рекомендувати запропоновані дробові бажані форми, як такі, що задовольняють бажані вимоги до систем керування електромеханічних систем. Побудова електромеханічних систем за принципом керування з послідовною корекцією має суттєву перевагу над іншими системами, завдяки простоті налаштування кожного з контурів, а також можливості реалізації обмеження координат регулювання. Розроблена методика структурно-параметричного синтезу регуляторів дробового порядку за умови їх каскадного ввімкнення в багатоконтурних електромеханічних системах та наведено алгоритм синтезу регуляторів дробового порядку відповідних контурів регулювання. Проведено синтез електромеханічної системи з каскадним ввімкненням регуляторів шляхом застосування удосконаленого методу узагальненого характеристичного полінома для вибору структури і параметрів регуляторів дробового порядку та застосування бажаної форми дробового порядку. Як приклад, розглянуто двоконтурну систему підпорядкованого регулювання, де об’єктом регулювання є електропривод «тиристорний перетворювач – двигун». Abstract: Purpose of the article. The purpose of the article is to reveal the key ideas and principles of animation of culture in the historical and theoretical perspective, refinement of its etymological and semantic foundations as a socio-cultural phenomenon. Animation of culture is a socio-cultural phenomenon, a dynamic process of the formation of social relations connected with culture. The methodology of the research is based on an integrated combination of analytical, historical, culturological and comparative methods and generalization, which enables exploring historical theoretical origins, paradigms, and models of animation of culture as an important foundation for the construction of social and cultural capital. Scientific novelty lays in defining the essence and significance of animation of culture as an effective tool for combating exclusion of personality from the socio-cultural space, cultural activation, and social participation. Conclusion. Animation of culture at the present stage is becoming the more and more actual and popular method of activity in the cultural and social sphere, aimed at developing the creative potential of the passive part of the society. Анимация культуры - это социокультурный феномен, динамичный процесс формирования социальных отношений, связанных с культурой. Методология исследования основана на комплексном сочетании аналитического, исторического, культурологического и сравнительного методов и обобщений, позволяет исследовать исторические и теоретические истоки, парадигмы и модели анимации культуры, как важного фундамента построения общественно-культурного капитала. Научная новизна заключается в том, что определяется сущность и значение анимации культуры как эффективного инструмента противодействия исключению личности из социокультурного пространства, культурной активизации, общественной партиципации. Вывод. Анимация культуры на современном этапе становится все более актуальным и популярным методом деятельности в культурно-социальной сфере, направленным на развитие креативного потенциала в пассивной части общества. Методологія дослідження ґрунтується на комплексному поєднанні аналітичного, історичного, культурологічного та компаративного методів та узагальнень, що дає змогу дослідити історичні та теоретичні витоки, парадигми та моделі анімації культури, як важливого фундаменту побудови суспільно-культурного капіталу. Наукова новизна полягає у визначенні сутності та значення анімації культури як ефективного інструменту протидії виключення особистості з соціокультурного простору, культурної активізації, суспільної партиципації. Висновок. Анімація культури на сучасному етапі стає все більш актуальним та популярним методом діяльності в культурно-соціальній сфері, спрямованим на розвиток креативного потенціалу у пасивної частини суспільства. Abstract: The inhibitory effects a range of synthetic and natural antioxidants on lipid peroxidation of egg yolk and erythrocyte membranes induced by a free radical generator 2,2&prime, azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH) was compared, with significant differences being found between both systems. When the protection by selected antioxidants against the effects of AAPH on erythrocytes (hemolysis, oxidation of hemoglobin and glutathione (GSH) and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS)) was studied, most antioxidants were protective, but in some tests (oxidation of hemoglobin and GSH) some acted as prooxidants, inducing oxidation in the absence of AAPH and enhancing the AAPH-induced oxidation. These results demonstrate a diversified action of antioxidants in different systems and point to a need for careful extrapolation of any conclusions drawn from one parameter or experimental system to another.

Abstract: International audience; A photosensitive medium based on amorphous equichalcogenide thin films containing germanium and antimony is proposed with characteristics promising for applications in all-chalcogenide photonics, sensors, and photovoltaics. Optical properties, temperature, and exposure wavelength dependence of DC electrical conductivity are shown to be comparable with those for halide perovskites, which potentially makes amorphous equichalcogenides a very attractive alternative. The change in dark resistivity with temperature is found to follow exponential decay, covering 2 orders of magnitude over a 70 K temperature interval. Light exposure leads to several orders of relative changes in a current when compared to its dark value. A strong photocurrent response is observed under low power (milliwatts range) exposure across the entire 400-1000 nm range of the investigated wavelengths. An increase in temperature leads to a decrease in the photoresponse of the developed material, which is found to vanish at temperatures higher than 120 degrees C when only a few milliwatts of exposure power is used.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2022-03-01 The prime objective of this research is to explore the impacts of import and export diversification and renewable energy on environmental footprints. In doing so, the authors employ the data of trade diversification, income inequality, renewable energy, and ecological footprints for 17 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries covering the period of 1995–2019. In econometric framework, the authors use two baseline empirical models based on key indicators such as trade (exports and imports) diversification index, income inequality, renewable energy, and globalization. The empirical analysis from both specifications suggests a cointegrating relation between the key variables of interest. The Long-run empirical estimates from FMOLS, and DOLS methods indicate that income inequality and import diversification increase ecological issues while globalization and exports diversification abate it. Further analysis through Granger causality highlights unilateral causal relationships running from renewable energy consumption to imports diversification, and from ecological footprint to imports diversification. The conclusions of this study stress the importance of harmonic policies, synchronization in trade, energy and resource consumption in achieving sustainable development goals. Abstract: Phase-change materials, demonstrating a rapid switching between two distinct states with a sharp contrast in electrical, optical or magnetic properties, are vital for modern photonic and electronic devices. To date, this effect is observed in chalcogenide compounds based on Se, Te or both, and most recently in stoichiometric Sb2S3 composition. Yet, to achieve best integrability into modern photonics and electronics, the mixed S/Se/Te phase change medium is needed, which would allow a wide tuning range for such important physical properties as vitreous phase stability, radiation and photo-sensitivity, optical gap, electrical and thermal conductivity, non-linear optical effects, as well as the possibility of structural modification at nanoscale. In this work, a thermally-induced high-to-low resistivity switching below 200 °C is demonstrated in Sb-rich equichalcogenides (containing S, Se and Te in equal proportions). The nanoscale mechanism is associated with interchange between tetrahedral and octahedral coordination of Ge and Sb atoms, substitution of Te in the nearest Ge environment by S or Se, and Sb–Ge/Sb bonds formation upon further annealing. The material can be integrated into chalcogenide-based multifunctional platforms, neuromorphic computational systems, photonic devices and sensors.

Abstract: International audience; Multiple sclerosis (MS) is associated with an impaired immune system that severely affects the spinal cord and brain, and which is marked by progressive inflammatory demyelination. Patients with MS may benefit from exercise training as a suggested course of treatment. The most commonly used animal models of studies on MS are experimental autoimmune/allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) models. The present review intends to concisely discuss the interventions using EAE models to understand the effectiveness of exercise as treatment for MS patients and thereby provide clear perspective for future research and MS management. For the present literature review, relevant published articles on EAE animal models that reported the impacts of exercise on MS, were extracted from various databases. Existing literature support the concept that an exercise regimen can reduce the severity of some of the clinical manifestations of EAE, including neurological signs, motor function, pain, and cognitive deficits. Further results demonstrate the mechanisms of EAE suppression with information relating to the immune system, demyelination, regeneration, and exercise in EAE. The role for neurotrophic factors has also been investigated. Analyzing the existing reports, this literature review infers that EAE is a suitable animal model that can help researchers develop further understanding and treatments for MS. Besides, findings from previous animal studies supports the contention that exercise assists in ameliorating MS progression.

Abstract: Background: Pediatricians’ clinical practice and health interventions in youths require instruments with adequate psychometric properties to assess physical activity (PA), sedentary behaviors (SB), and their subdomains. Objective: To assess the psychometric properties of the Children and Adolescents Physical Activity and Sedentary-Questionnaire (CAPAS-Q) in healthy French children and adolescents. Methods: The CAPAS-Q has been developed through a rigorous collective procedure and consists of a 31 items self-administered questionnaire evaluating children’s 7-day PA and SB dimensions and subdomains. Participants (n = 103, aged 8–18 years old) completed the questionnaire twice (7 days apart) and wore an ActiGraph GT3X+ accelerometer for 7 days. Anthropometric measurements and body composition were assessed. Results: Cronbach alpha for PA and SB dimensions were 0.71 and 0.68, respectively. Reproducibility was found moderate to good, with Lin’s coefficients of 0.69 and 0.68 for PA and SB dimensions, respectively. Reproducibility was higher for adolescents compared to children. PA dimension was positively correlated with moderate PA, vigorous PA, moderate to vigorous PA, and total PA times and negatively correlated with SB time (p < 0.05). SB dimension and screen time were positively correlated with SB time and negatively correlated with LPA, MPA, MVPA, and total PA times (p < 0.05). Spearman correlation coefficients were fair to moderate, ranging between 0.23–0.45. Conclusion: The CAPAS-Q proposes a reliable and valid evaluation of French children and adolescents’ PA and SB, providing clinicians with potential intervention levels to improve youth movement behaviors.

Abstract: International audience; Cocconeis dapalistriata, first described as a member of the genus Cocconeis, is re-examined due to its unique ultrastructure. Both valvocopulae of this taxon show significant differences compared to those found in the genus Cocconeis. They are expanded and show some similarities with those found in Amphicocconeis. On the other hand, terminal parts of the raphe valve (RV) in C. dapalistriata are simple and the raphe valve (RV) striae are composed of small round areolae with a hymenate occlusion with radial slits, similar to those observed in Cocconeis. Campyloneis and Xenococconeis also have expanded valvocopulae but with numerous morphological differences compared to those found in C. dapalistriata. Furthermore, the areolae of the sternum valve (SV) in C. dapalistriata are occluded by a concave velum with no apparent internal slits, and externally ornamented with irregular silica crystals. Upsilococconeis Riaux-Gobin, Witkowski & Risjani gen. nov. is proposed to accommodate the latter taxon. First described from the Western Indian Ocean (Mascarenes), it was subsequently listed from the Western Pacific Ocean (Guam), the South Pacific Ocean (French Polynesia and New Caledonia) and from the Eastern Indian Ocean (Indonesia), and thus may qualify as pantropical.

Abstract: International audience; Species turnover is ubiquitous. However, it remains unknown whether certain types of species are consistently gained or lost across different habitats. Here, we analysed the trajectories of 1827 plant species over time intervals of up to 78 years at 141 sites across mountain summits, forests, and lowland grasslands in Europe. We found, albeit with relatively small effect sizes, displacements of smaller- by larger-ranged species across habitats. Communities shifted in parallel towards more nutrient-demanding species, with species from nutrient-rich habitats having larger ranges. Because these species are typically strong competitors, declines of smaller-ranged species could reflect not only abiotic drivers of global change, but also biotic pressure from increased competition. The ubiquitous component of turnover based on species range size we found here may partially reconcile findings of no net loss in local diversity with global species loss, and link community-scale turnover to macroecological processes such as biotic homogenisation.

Abstract: International audience; The efficacy of weight loss interventions might be affected by the metabolic profile of adolescents with obesity. In this study, we hypothesized that the initial diagnosis of the MS, or its persistence after an intervention, will not reduce the efficacy of a 16-week multidisciplinary weight loss program. Ninety two adolescents (12-15 years; 62 girls) with obesity completed baseline anthropometric and body composition evaluation (DXA). Lipid profile, insulinemia, glycaemia and blood pressure were measured and metabolic syndrome (MS) diagnosed. The adolescents then followed a 4-month inpatient multidisciplinary weight management program. All measurements were performed before (T0) and after 4 months of intervention (T1). Body weight, body mass index (BMI) and percentage of fat mass (%FM) decreased significantly between T0 and T1 (P < .001), with no difference in fat-free mass (kg). All metabolic variables (except blood pressure) were improved. 47.6% of the whole sample presented with MS at baseline against 35.7% at T1. Body weight (P = 0.006), BMI (P = 0.0261), %FM (P = 0.0211), hip circumference (= 0.0131), BMI percentile (P = 0.0319), and diastolic blood pressure (P = 0.0365) showed a time x group interaction and their deltas (variations between T0 and T1) were significantly different between adolescents with and without MS at baseline. There was no significant difference between adolescents with persistent and nonpersistent MS except for Delta BMI percentile that deceased significantly more in the non persistent group (P = 0.0115). According to our results, the efficacy of weight loss interventions is not reduced in adolescents initially diagnosed with MS or different between those who present a persistent or nonpersistent MS after the intervention.

Abstract: International audience; Thermosyphons are heat transfer devices characterized by high efficiency due to simultaneous phase changes occurring in the evaporation-condensation cycle of working fluid. One of the most promising solutions to enhance their heat transfer capacity of the device is the use of nanofluids – suspensions of particles with at least one dimension below 100 nm. It was determined that nanofluid does not influence the work of thermosyphons condenser section and the focus should be put on the boiling process in the evaporator section. During boiling, nanoparticles tend to deposit on the heater’s surface, what alters characteristics of this surface and near surface hydrodynamics. This changes the appearance of nanofluid, but the precise effect on how the deposition of particles affects the properties of nanofluid is unknown. Changes in surface tension and wettability affect boiling regimes (e.g. reduced surface tension reduces the size of departing bubbles and inhibits geysering), and efficiency of heat transfer through the device. Understanding of those parameters is crucial for the development of appropriate models describing heat transfer in thermosyphon working with nanofluids. The main goal of this study is to determine surface tension and contact angle of nanofluids based on silica nanoparticles and nano-sized graphene oxide flakes before and after the experimental boiling cycle in the thermosyphon. Results show that, in comparison with water, silica nanofluid (2 vol.%) is characterized by lower surface tension and contact angles on both analysed surfaces. After-use silica nanofluid exhibited noticeably higher averaged surface tension and smaller contact angles in comparison to the fresh working medium. The change was most likely due to the decreased concentration caused by the deposition of nanoparticles during the thermosyphon operation. Still, the differences between before-use and after-use samples were smaller than the measurement uncertainties. Before-use graphene oxide nanofluid already showed surface tension and contact angle similar to water due to low concentration of graphene flakes (0.1 g/L). Consequently, the properties of after-use graphene oxide fluid were also not much different from water. Additional measurements of surface tension for graphene oxide nanofluid with and without addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactant allowed to differentiate the effects caused by graphene flakes and surfactant. The surfactant reduced the surface tension of the nanofluid, but the change was smaller than in case of surfactant addition to pure water.

Abstract: This paper presents the preparation and thermal/physical characterization of phase change materials (PCMs) based on poly(ethylene glycol) 400 g&middot, mol&minus, 1 and nano-enhanced by either carbon black (CB), a raw graphite/diamond nanomixture (G/D-r), a purified graphite/diamond nanomixture (G/D-p) or nano-Diamond nanopowders with purity grades of 87% or 97% (nD87 and nD97, respectively). Differential scanning calorimetry and oscillatory rheology experiments were used to provide an insight into the thermal and mechanical changes taking place during solid-liquid phase transitions of the carbon-based suspensions. PEG400-based samples loaded with 1.0 wt.% of raw graphite/diamond nanomixture (G/D-r) exhibited the lowest sub-cooling effect (with a reduction of ~2 K regarding neat PEG400). The influences that the type of carbon-based nanoadditive and nanoparticle loading (0.50 and 1.0 wt.%) have on dynamic viscosity, thermal conductivity, density and surface tension were also investigated in the temperature range from 288 to 318 K. Non-linear rheological experiments showed that all dispersions exhibited a non-Newtonian pseudo-plastic behavior, which was more noticeable in the case of carbon black nanofluids at low shear rates. The highest enhancements in thermal conductivity were observed for graphite/diamond nanomixtures (3.3&ndash, 3.6%), while nano-diamond suspensions showed the largest modifications in density (0.64&ndash, 0.66%). Reductions in surface tension were measured for the two nano-diamond nanopowders (nD87 and nD97), while slight increases (within experimental uncertainties) were observed for dispersions prepared using the other three carbon-based nanopowders. Finally, a good agreement was observed between the experimental surface tension measurements performed using a Du No&uuml, y ring tensiometer and a drop-shape analyzer.

Abstract: International audience; Nanofluids containing titanium oxide nanoparticles are one of the most often investigated by researchers and their properties such as viscosity or thermal conductivity were largely reported. On the other hand, electrical conductivity of this type of nanofluids are often omitted. Therefore, this paper reports experimental data on the electrical conductivity of ethylene glycol based nanofluids with three types of titanium dioxide nanoparticles dispersed in it. Samples of all nanofluids were prepared in mass fraction between 0.01 and 0.20, and for this purpose well known two-step method was used. The electrical conductivity was measured in temperature range from 10 to 45°C. The results show effect of TiO2 nanoparticles content on electrical conductivity of ethylene glycol as well as the influence of nanoparticles phase. The highest enhancement has been noted for anatase at lowest tested temperature. Finally the experimental data were compared to available models and a new theoretical correlation was proposed.

Abstract: International audience; Nanofluids are recent nanomaterials with improved thermophysical properties that could enhance the efficiency and reliability of heat transfer systems. Relevant properties for heat transfer calculation, thin film flows, droplet impingements or microfluidic are surface tension and wettability. However, to date, the understanding of those properties in nanofluids field is at the beginning compared to transport properties. At this stage, this review focus on the effect of nanoparticles and base fluid nature, temperature, use of surfactant, nanoparticle concentration, size and shape as well on the surface tension and wettability of nanofluids. After the presentation of heat transfer processes involving the influence of surface tension and wettability, this paper is organized according to the nature of the nanoparticles dealing with oxide, carbon-based and metallic nanofluids as well as unusual or less considered nature of nanoparticles. The factors affecting the surface tension of nanofluids are relatively well identified, but concentration and surfactant effects present some inconsistent outcomes. In any case, the dispersion of nanoparticles have an effect on the surface tension of base fluid significantly lower than that on transport properties. Based on results available in the literature and existing empirical correlations, a comprehensive assessment, challenges and future works are suggested. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd

Abstract: International audience; The non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of novel BixGa5Ge20Sb10-xSe45Te20 (x = 1,3,5,10) glasses are studied with differential scanning calorimetry method, and analyzed using Frazer-Suzuki fitting function. The applicability of Johnson-Mehl-Avrami (JMA) model to describe the crystallization kinetics in these materials is verified, and JMA exponent is determined for the relevant crystallization processes. It is found, that substitution of Sb with Bi in glass composition leads to a decrease in optical gap and thermal stability of the glass, and increase in the density and crystallization activation energy for glass-ceramics formation.

Abstract: The possibilities surrounding positronics, a versatile noninvasive tool employing annihilating positrons to probe atomic-deficient sub-nanometric imperfections in a condensed matter, are analyzed in application to glassy arsenoselenides g-AsxSe100−x (0 < x < 65), subjected to dry and wet (in 0.5% PVP water solution) nanomilling. A preliminary analysis was performed within a modified two-state simple trapping model (STM), assuming slight contributions from bound positron–electron (Ps, positronium) states. Positron trapping in g-AsxSe100−x/PVP nanocomposites was modified by an enriched population of Ps-decay sites in PVP. This was proven within a three-state STM, assuming two additive inputs in an overall trapping arising from distinct positron and Ps-related states. Formalism of x3-x2-CDA (coupling decomposition algorithm), describing the conversion of Ps-decay sites into positron traps, was applied to identify volumetric nanostructurization in wet-milled g-As-Se, with respect to dry-milled ones. Under wet nanomilling, the Ps-decay sites stabilized in inter-particle triple junctions filled with PVP replaced positron traps in dry-milled substances, the latter corresponding to multi-atomic vacancies in mostly negative environments of Se atoms. With increased Se content, these traps were agglomerated due to an abundant amount of Se-Se bonds. Three-component lifetime spectra with nanostructurally- and compositionally-tuned Ps-decay inputs and average lifetimes serve as a basis to correctly understand the specific “rainbow” effects observed in the row from pelletized PVP to wet-milled, dry-milled, and unmilled samples.

Abstract: The aircraft maintenance processes play an important role in a safe operation of an aircraft. Maintenance services organizations take responsibility for the maintenance process and approve the airworthiness of an aircraft after undertaking the maintenance activities. International law determines the quality of aircraft maintenance processes by setting requirements concerning, among other, a quality management system, a safety management system and operators’ competences. As a consequence of the rising number of aircraft in operation, the volume of maintenance activities grows. However, the customers increasingly pose requirements concerning the minimization of the maintenance service lead time. In order to remain competitive, the maintenance service organizations have to reduce the lead time of their services. However, this objective in not easy to attain, since the complexity of aircraft maintenance operations require specific skills and pose a number of organisational and technical constraints to be respected during the maintenance process. In the paper, a mathematical programming model is developed in order to help decision makers in managing the operators’ skills during the operators assignment to the activities to be performed. In particular, the Hall’s marriage theorem is used to formalise complex restrictions of operators assignment to maintenance activities. The objective of the optimization problem is to minimize total makespan time. The model is applied to a case study.

It was presented that ash content in nanofluids changes significantly rheological properties of nanofluids containing graphite/nanodiamonds mixture nanoparticles. While the variation in ash content does not affect thermal conductivity of nanofluids, a big impact on electrical conductivity is reported.

Nanofluids contain three types of nitride nanoparticles: aluminum nitride, silicon nitride and titanium nitride with various particle average sizes. Surface tension of nanofluids was investigated at a constant temperature of 298.15 K with two different techniques: du Noüy ring method and pendant drop method. It is presented that experimental values obtained with both methods are in good agreement with each other. Also, results obtained during this study show that the addition of this type of nanoparticles does not have a significant impact on the surface tension of base fluid for the concentrations and diameters of nitride nanoparticles considered.

Abstract: International audience; Recently, many scientists have been making remarkable efforts to enhance the efficiency of direct solar thermal absorption collectors that depends on working fluids. There are a number of heat transfer fluids being investigated and developed. Among these fluids, carbon nanomaterial-based nanofluids have become the candidates with the most potential by the heat absorbing and transfer properties of the carbon nanomaterials. This paper provides an overview of the current achievements in preparing and exploiting carbon nanomaterial-based nanofluids to direct thermal solar absorption. In addition, a brief discussion of challenges and recommendations for future work is presented.

Abstract: International audience; The paper summarizes results of experimental studies on thermophysical and electrical properties of ethylene glycol based nanofluids containing carbon black nanoparticles. Two types of nanoparticles differing in size and specific surface area were used to develop nanofluids. During the examination thermal conductivity, isobaric heat capacity, mass density, nanofluid-air surface tension, dynamic viscosity, refractive index and electrical conductivity were measured in strict controlled temperature 298.15 K. Obtained results indicate that the specific surface area has great influence on these fundamental properties of nanofluids developed with carbon nanoparticles. Finally, the enhancement of electrical conductivity described in the paper is one of the highest reported for the nanofluids in available literature.

Abstract: Positron annihilation lifetime (PAL) spectroscopy was applied for the first time to study free-volume void evolution in chalcogenide glasses of Ga–Ge–Te/Se cut-section exemplified by glassy Ga 10 Ge 15 Te 75 and Ga 10 Ge 15 Te 72 Se 3 doped with 500 ppm of Tb 3+ or Pr 3+ . The collected PAL spectra reconstructed within two-state trapping model reveal decaying tendency in positron trapping efficiency in these glasses under rare-earth doping. This effect results in unchanged or slightly increased defect-related lifetimes τ 2 at the cost of more strong decrease in I 2 intensities, as well as reduced positron trapping rate in defects and fraction of trapped positrons. Observed changes are ascribed to rare-earth activated elimination of intrinsic free volumes associated mainly with negatively-charged states of chalcogen atoms especially those neighboring with Ga-based polyhedrons.

Abstract: У статті описано цікавий випадок підсилення прямокутного залізобетонного резервуару. Через помилки в розрахунку армування, довгі стіни резервуара серйозно тріснули і починали протікати під час випробування водою. Як альтернатива повному демонтажу резервуара, було розроблено та застосовано простий та ефективний метод посилення. Оскільки основні дефекти виникли в довгих стінах конструкції, система тяжів була спроектована і побудована. Група точно розташованих тяжів, закріплених на зовнішніх поверхнях стінок, зменшила напруження в цих стінах до рівня, який може сприймати конструкція з існуючим армуванням. Тяжі та їх кріплення були зроблені з нержавіючої сталі, і під час проектування особливу увагу було приділено фактичному технічному стану конструкції резервуара та його навколишнім умовам. Успішне підсилення дає резервуару змогу експлуатуватися лише з невеликою затримкою часу без видимих проблем. The paper describe an interesting case of rectangular reinforced concrete tank strengthening. Due to errors in reinforcement design, the long walls of the tank were seriously cracked and starts to leak during the water test. As alternative to total tank demolition, a simple and effective strengthening method was developed and applied. Because the basic defects occurred in long walls of structure, the tie system was designed and constructed. The group of precisely located bar ties anchored on the strengthened walls outer surfaces reduced the stresses in these walls to the level, which could be carried by structure with existing reinforcement. The ties and their anchorages were made of stainless steel, and during design special attention was paid to actual technical state of the tank structure and its environmental conditions. The successful strengthening allow the tank to start the operation with only small time delay and any problems actually noticed

Abstract: The bulk-boundary correspondence establishes a connection between the bulk topological index of an insulator or superconductor, and the number of topologically protected edge bands or states. For topological superconductors in two dimensions the first Chern number is related to the number of protected bands within the bulk energy gap, and is therefore assumed to give the number of Majorana band states in the system. Here we show that this is not necessarily the case. As an example we consider a hexagonal-lattice topological superconductor based on a model of graphene with Rashba spin orbit coupling, proximity induced s-wave superconductivity, and a Zeeman magnetic field. We explore the full Chern number phase diagram of this model, extending what is already known about its parity. We then demonstrate that despite the high Chern numbers that can be seen in some phases these do not strictly always contain Majorana bound states., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures

Compositional variations in Tg against molar volume Vm are plotted for g-AsxSe100- x taken within (0 ≤ x ≤ 65) domain assuming preferential cohesive Van der Waals (VDW) bonding between network-constituting entities. The Tg values are found to vary as inverse-αth power of Vm, attaining distinct values for different networks, in part, 0D-molecular (α=6/3= 2), 1D-chained (α=5/3), 2D-layered (α=4/3), and 3D-spatial (α=3/3=1). Abstract: © 2014 The Authors. Nests are structures built to support and protect eggs and/or offspring from predators, parasites, and adverse weather conditions. Nests are mainly constructed prior to egg laying, meaning that parent birds must make decisions about nest site choice and nest building behavior before the start of egg-laying. Parent birds should be selected to choose nest sites and to build optimally sized nests, yet our current understanding of clutch size-nest size relationships is limited to small-scale studies performed over short time periods. Here, we quantified the relationship between clutch size and nest size, using an exhaustive database of 116 slope estimates based on 17,472 nests of 21 species of hole and non-hole-nesting birds. There was a significant, positive relationship between clutch size and the base area of the nest box or the nest, and this relationship did not differ significantly between open nesting and hole-nesting species. The slope of the relationship showed significant intraspecific and interspecific heterogeneity among four species of secondary hole-nesting species, but also among all 116 slope estimates. The estimated relationship between clutch size and nest box base area in study sites with more than a single size of nest box was not significantly different from the relationship using studies with only a single size of nest box. The slope of the relationship between clutch size and nest base area in different species of birds was significantly negatively related to minimum base area, and less so to maximum base area in a given study. These findings are consistent with the hypothesis that bird species have a general reaction norm reflecting the relationship between nest size and clutch size. Further, they suggest that scientists may influence the clutch size decisions of hole-nesting birds through the provisioning of nest boxes of varying sizes.

Abstract: International audience; We demonstrate that shot noise in Fe/MgO/Fe/MgO/Fe double-barrier magnetic tunnel junctions is determined by the magnetic configuration of the junction-the P-state with the magnetic moments of all three ferromagnetic layers aligned parallel, the AP1 state with the central electrode magnetized opposite to its neighbors, and two different AP2 states with the magnetic moment of the upper or bottom electrode aligned opposite to the other two. We also show that the asymmetry between both MgO barriers is another important factor which affects the shot noise. Some voltages present an enhancement in both conductance and shot noise, which indicates that resonant tunneling through quantum well states formed in the middle magnetic layer is taking place. When the junctions are heated to 60 K, the resonance tunneling anomalies in the shot noise smear out, but they survive in the differential conductance. On the other hand, at low voltages (below 200 mV) and low temperatures (below 4 K) the shot noise tends to decrease, probably due to multi-step tunneling via localized defect states in the tunnel MgO barrier. The theoretical model of sequential tunneling proposed for this system, which takes into account spin relaxation, successfully describes the experimental observations in the bias range between 200 mV and 500 mV, where the influence of tunneling through barrier defects and resonant states inside the central electrode is negligible.

Abstract: During the conference entitled Spatial Econometrics and Regional Economic Analyses, which took place in Lodz in 2014, there was a proposition to introduce the spatial coherence property into the Ward method, which is applied to group administrative units [1]. At each stage of agglomeration in the modified Ward method, there are included only those aggregates which are adjacent to each other. This work is an extension of this concept based upon other methods of hierarchical clustering, in particular the single and complete linkage method. The study highlighted the benefits of clustering methods with the coherence property, also emphasizing the limitations of these procedures. First of all, the introduction of the restricting condition during the procedure of the hierarchical clustering reduces the homogeneity of isolated clusters. Spatial constraints may also lead to a situation where the distance between the clusters linked at a later stage is smaller than at an earlier stage (graphically, we can talk about the dendrogram “backflow”). The method of complete linkage is free of these aberration where the distance between the clusters is defined as the maximum distance between their elements. The modified clustering algorithm was implemented as an extension of STATISTICA software. Examples of an application of the hierarchical clustering method with the coherence concern sector changes in the European regional space. The aim of the analysis was to isolate spatially coherent areas that demonstrate a similar direction and intensity of structural change in selected areas of the labour market. Na konferencji „Ekonometria przestrzenna i regionalne analizy ekonomiczne”, która odbyła się w Łodzi w 2014 roku, zaproponowano wprowadzenie warunku spójności przestrzennej do metody Warda, stosowanej do grupowania jednostek administracyjnych. Na każdym etapie aglomeracji w zmodyfikowanej metodzie Warda uwzględniane są tylko te skupienia, które ze sobą sąsiadują. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi rozszerzenie tej koncepcji na inne metody grupowania hierarchicznego, w szczególności metodę prostych i zupełnych połączeń. Zwrócono uwagę na korzyści płynące z zastosowania metody grupowania z warunkiem spójności, akcentując jednak także pewne ograniczenia tych procedur. Wprowadzenie warunku ograniczającego podczas procedury grupowania hierarchicznego powoduje przede wszystkim zmniejszenie jednorodności wyodrębnianych skupień. Ograniczenia przestrzenne mogą też prowadzić do sytuacji, kiedy odległość między skupieniami łączonymi na późniejszym etapie jest mniejsza niż na etapie wcześniejszym (można tu mówić o graficznym „cofaniu się” dendrogramu). Od tej aberracji wolna jest metoda zupełnych połączeń, gdzie odległość między skupieniami jest wyznaczana jako maksimum odległości między ich elementami. Zmodyfikowany algorytm grupowania zaimplementowano jako rozszerzenie programu STATISTICA. Przykłady zastosowania metod grupowania hierarchicznego z warunkiem spójności dotyczą europejskiej przestrzeni regionalnej (w układzie NUTS–2) w latach poprzedzających i następujących po kryzysie finansowym 2008 roku. Celem analiz było wyodrębnienie spójnych przestrzennie obszarów, które charakteryzowałyby się podobną wrażliwością na zjawiska kryzysowe w obszarze rynku pracy.
