Abstract Patients carrying mutations in polymerase epsilon/polymerase delta have shown positive responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors. Yet, prospective trials exploring the efficacy in those with polymerase epsilon/polymerase delta mutations are still lacking. A phase II clinical trial was initiated to evaluate the efficacy of toripalimab, a humanized IgG4K monoclonal antibody to human PD-1, in patients with advanced solid tumors with unselected polymerase epsilon/polymerase delta mutations but without microsatellite instability-high. A total of 15 patients were enrolled, 14 of whom were assessed for treatment efficacy. There was a 21.4% overall response rate, with a disease control rate of 57.1%. The median overall survival and median progression-free survival were 17.9 (95% CI 13.5-not reach) months and 2.5 (95% CI 1.4-not reach) months, respectively. For patients with exonuclease domain mutations, the objective response rate was 66.7% (2/3), with a disease control rate of 66.7% (2/3). For those with non-exonuclease domain mutations, the rates were 9.1% (1/11) and 54.5% (6/11), respectively. Notably, patients with PBRM1 gene mutations exhibited a high response rate to toripalimab at 75.0% (3/4). This study showed that neither the exonuclease domain mutations nor non-exonuclease domain mutations could fully predict the efficacy of immunotherapy, urging the need for more investigations to clarify potential immune sensitization differences within polymerase epsilon/polymerase delta mutation variants.

Abstract Objective Pregnancy care can improve maternal pregnancy outcomes. Cluster nursing, an evidence-based, patient-centered model, enhances pregnancy care, can provide patients with high-quality nursing services, has been widely used in clinical practice in recent years. However, most previous studies evaluated cluster nursing program only for a single clinical scenario. In this study, we developed and implemented a antenatal cluster care program for various prenatal issues faced by puerpera to analyze its application effect. Methods This is a historical before and after control study. 89 expectant mothers who had their prenatal information files registered in the outpatient department of a grade III, level A hospital from June 2020 to September 2021 were finally enrolled in observation group, and received prenatal cluster management. Another set of 89 expectant mothers from January 2019 to December 2019 were included in the control group and received traditional routine prenatal management. The effect of cluster nursing management on maternal delivery and postpartum rehabilitation was evaluated and compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the observation group had a significantly higher natural delivery rate, better neonatal prognosis, higher rates of exclusive breastfeeding, lower incidence of postpartum complications, shorter postpartum hospital stay, better postpartum health status, and higher satisfaction with nursing services. Compared with before intervention, the SAS and SDS scores of the observation group showed significant improvement after intervention. Conclusion Antenatal cluster care is beneficial to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes, and can have positive effects on natural pregnancy and breastfeeding, while improving the multimedia health education ability of medical care and emphasizing the importance of social support.

Abstract Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) causes porcine pleuropneumonia (PCP), which is clinically characterized by acute hemorrhagic, necrotizing pneumonia, and chronic fibrinous pneumonia. Although many measures have been taken to prevent the disease, prevention and control of the disease are becoming increasingly difficult due to the abundance of APP sera, weak vaccine cross-protection, and increasing antibiotic resistance in APP. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel drugs against APP infection to prevent the spread of APP. Naringin (NAR) has been reported to have an excellent therapeutic effect on pulmonary diseases, but its therapeutic effect on lung injury caused by APP is not apparent. Our research has shown that NAR was able to alleviate APP-induced weight loss and quantity of food taken and reduce the number of WBCs and NEs in peripheral blood in mice; pathological tissue sections showed that NAR was able to prevent and control APP-induced pathological lung injury effectively; based on the establishment of an in vivo/in vitro model of APP inflammation, it was found that NAR was able to play an anti-inflammatory role through inhibiting the MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway and exerting anti-inflammatory effects; additionally, NAR activating the Nrf2 signalling pathway, increasing the secretion of antioxidant enzymes Nqo1, CAT, and SOD1, inhibiting the secretion of oxidative damage factors NOS2 and COX2, and enhancing the antioxidant stress ability, thus playing an antioxidant role. In summary, NAR can relieve severe lung injury caused by APP by reducing excessive inflammatory response and improving antioxidant capacity.

Abstract Background Plasma microRNAs act as biomarkers for predicting and diagnosing diseases. Reliable non-invasive biomarkers for biochemical pregnancy loss have not been established. We aim to analyze the dynamic microRNA profiles during the peri-implantation period and investigate if plasma microRNAs could be non-invasive biomarkers predicting BPL. Methods In this study, we collected plasma samples from patients undergoing embryo transfer (ET) on ET day (ET0), 11 days after ET (ET11), and 14 days after ET (ET14). Patients were divided into the NP (negative pregnancy), BPL (biochemical pregnancy loss), and CP (clinical pregnancy) groups according to serum hCG levels at day11~14 and ultrasound at day28~35 following ET. MicroRNA profiles at different time-points were detected by miRNA-sequencing. We analyzed plasma microRNA signatures for BPL at the peri-implantation stage, we characterized the dynamic microRNA changes during the implantation period, constructed a microRNA co-expression network, and established predictive models for BPL. Finally, the sequencing results were confirmed by Taqman RT-qPCR. Results BPL patients have distinct plasma microRNA profiles compared to CP patients at multiple time-points during the peri-implantation period. Machine learning models revealed that plasma microRNAs could predict BPL. RT-qPCR confirmed that miR-181a-2-3p, miR-9-5p, miR-150-3p, miR-150-5p, and miR-98-5p, miR-363-3p were significantly differentially expressed between patients with different reproductive outcomes. Conclusion Our study highlights the non-invasive value of plasma microRNAs in predicting BPL.

PurposeRefractive errors, particularly myopia, constitute a significant global public health concern, contributing to morbidity and disability. A more comprehensive understanding of the determinants of refractive errors and the differences between urban and rural areas is essential to develop effective preventive measures for youth. This study aimed to compare the prevalence and risk factors of refractive errors among youth in urban and rural Tianjin, China.MethodsThis school-based cross-sectional study was conducted in 2022. Elementary, middle, and high school students aged 6–18 years from both urban and rural areas of Tianjin were included. All participants underwent visual acuity testing and refractive measurement and completed comprehensive questionnaires.ResultsA total of 346,146 participants (176,628 boys) were included in this investigation (50.36% for urban and 49.64% for rural, respectively). Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and anisometropia were present in 56.8, 9.7, 56.64, and 21.3% of urban students, respectively. Similarly, rural students had a prevalence of 57.6, 11.5, 56.48, and 22.0% for the respective conditions. Summary: The maternal skeleton experiences significant bone loss during lactation, followed by rapid restoration post weaning. Parathyroid-related protein (PTHrP)-induced acidification of the perilacunar matrix by osteocytes is crucial in this process, yet its mechanism remains unclear. Here, we identify Cx43 hemichannels (HCs) as key mediators of osteocyte acidification and perilacunar-canalicular remodeling (PLR). Utilizing transgenic mouse models expressing dominant-negative Cx43 mutants, we show that mice with impaired Cx43 HCs exhibit attenuated lactation-induced responses compared to wild-type and only gap junction-impaired groups, including lacunar enlargement, upregulation of PLR genes, and bone loss with compromised mechanical properties. Furthermore, inhibition of HCs by a Cx43 antibody blunts PTHrP-induced calcium influx and protein kinase A activation, followed by impaired osteocyte acidification. Additionally, impeded HCs suppress bone recovery during the post-lactation period. Our findings highlight the pivotal role of Cx43 HCs in orchestrating dynamic bone changes during lactation and recovery by regulating acidification and remodeling enzyme expression.

Abstract The clinical implications of extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) in cancer therapy remain largely elusive. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis of ecDNA amplification spectra and their association with clinical and molecular features in multiple cohorts comprising over 13,000 pan-cancer patients. Using our developed computational framework, GCAP, and validating it with multifaceted approaches, we reveal a consistent pan-cancer pattern of mutual exclusivity between ecDNA amplification and microsatellite instability (MSI). In addition, we establish the role of ecDNA amplification as a risk factor and refine genomic subtypes in a cohort from 1015 colorectal cancer patients. Importantly, our investigation incorporates data from four clinical trials focused on anti-PD-1 immunotherapy, demonstrating the pivotal role of ecDNA amplification as a biomarker for guiding checkpoint blockade immunotherapy in gastrointestinal cancer. This finding represents clinical evidence linking ecDNA amplification to the effectiveness of immunotherapeutic interventions. Overall, our study provides a proof-of-concept of identifying ecDNA amplification from cancer whole-exome sequencing (WES) data, highlighting the potential of ecDNA amplification as a valuable biomarker for facilitating personalized cancer treatment.

Abstract The 2023 update of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) Clinical Guidelines for Gastric Cancer focuses on standardizing cancer diagnosis and treatment in China, reflecting the latest advancements in evidence‐based medicine, healthcare resource availability, and precision medicine. These updates address the differences in epidemiological characteristics, clinicopathological features, tumor biology, treatment patterns, and drug selections between Eastern and Western gastric cancer patients. Key revisions include a structured template for imaging diagnosis reports, updated standards for molecular marker testing in pathological diagnosis, and an elevated recommendation for neoadjuvant chemotherapy in stage III gastric cancer. For advanced metastatic gastric cancer, the guidelines introduce new recommendations for immunotherapy, anti‐angiogenic therapy and targeted drugs, along with updated management strategies for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)‐positive and deficient DNA mismatch repair (dMMR)/microsatellite instability‐high (MSI‐H) patients. Additionally, the guidelines offer detailed screening recommendations for hereditary gastric cancer and an appendix listing drug treatment regimens for various stages of gastric cancer. The 2023 CSCO Clinical Guidelines for Gastric Cancer updates are based on both Chinese and international clinical research and expert consensus to enhance their applicability and relevance in clinical practice, particularly in the heterogeneous healthcare landscape of China, while maintaining a commitment to scientific rigor, impartiality, and timely revisions.

Abstract In recent years, remarkable breakthroughs have been reported on antibody‐drug conjugates (ADCs), with 15 ADCs successfully entering the market over the past decade. This substantial development has positioned ADCs as one of the fastest‐growing domains in the realm of anticancer drugs, demonstrating their efficacy in treating a wide array of malignancies. Nonetheless, there is still an unmet clinical need for wider application, better efficacy, and fewer side effects of ADCs. An ADC generally comprises an antibody, a linker and a payload, and the combination has profound effects on drug structure, pharmacokinetic profile and efficacy. Hence, optimization of the key components provides an opportunity to develop ADCs with higher potency and fewer side effects. In this review, we comprehensively reviewed the current development and the prospects of ADC, provided an analysis of marketed ADCs and the ongoing pipelines globally as well as in China, highlighted several ADC platforms and technologies specific to different pharmaceutical enterprises and biotech companies, and also discussed the new related technologies, possibility of next‐generation ADCs and the directions of clinical research.

Abstract Guinea pigs are often used as models for myopia studies. However, the imaging structure and vasculature of the optic nerve head (ONH) in guinea pigs are tentative. This study investigated morphological parameters and vascular characteristics of the ONH in guinea pigs with form deprivation (FD) myopia before and after scleral crosslinking (CXL), using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA). Refractive error, axial length (AL), intraocular pressure (IOP), and OCT-based structural parameters of the ONH were measured at baseline and 3 weeks after the FD + CXL procedure in guinea pigs. Background It remains unclear whether intensification of the chemotherapy backbone in tandem with an anti-EGFR can confer superior clinical outcomes in a cohort of RAS/BRAF wild-type colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with initially unresectable colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). To that end, we sought to comparatively evaluate the efficacy and safety of cetuximab plus FOLFOXIRI (triplet arm) versus cetuximab plus FOLFOX (doublet arm) as a conversion regimen (i.e., unresectable to resectable) in CRC patients with unresectable CRLM. Methods and findings This open-label, randomized clinical trial was conducted from April 2018 to December 2022 in 7 medical centers across China, enrolling 146 RAS/BRAF wild-type CRC patients with initially unresectable CRLM. A stratified blocked randomization method was utilized to assign patients (1:1) to either the cetuximab plus FOLFOXIRI (n = 72) or cetuximab plus FOLFOX (n = 74) treatment arms. Stratification factors were tumor location (left versus right) and resectability (technically unresectable versus [greater than or equal to]5 metastases). The primary outcome was the objective response rate (ORR). Secondary outcomes included the median depth of tumor response (DpR), early tumor shrinkage (ETS), R0 resection rate, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (not mature at the time of analysis), and safety profile. Radiological tumor evaluations were conducted by radiologists blinded to the group allocation. Primary efficacy analyses were conducted based on the intention-to-treat population, while safety analyses were performed on patients who received at least 1 line of chemotherapy. A total of 14 patients (9.6%) were lost to follow-up (9 in the doublet arm and 5 in the triplet arm). The ORR was comparable following adjustment for stratification factors, with 84.7% versus 79.7% in the triplet and doublet arms, respectively (odds ratio [OR] 0.70; 95% confidence intervals [CI] [0.30, 1.67], Chi-square p = 0.42). Moreover, the ETS rate showed no significant difference between the triplet and doublet arms (80.6% (58/72) versus 77.0% (57/74), OR 0.82, 95% CI [0.37, 1.83], Chi-square p = 0.63). Although median DpR was higher in the triplet therapy group (59.6%, interquartile range [IQR], [50.0, 69.7] versus 55.0%, IQR [42.8, 63.8], Mann-Whitney p = 0.039), the R0/R1 resection rate with or without radiofrequency ablation/stereotactic body radiation therapy was comparable with 54.2% (39/72) of patients in the triplet arm versus 52.7% (39/74) in the doublet arm. At a median follow-up of 26.2 months (IQR [12.8, 40.5]), the median PFS was 11.8 months in the triplet arm versus 13.4 months in the doublet arm (hazard ratio [HR] 0.74, 95% CI [0.50, 1.11], Log-rank p = 0.14). Grade [greater than or equal to] 3 events were reported in 47.2% (35/74) of patients in the doublet arm and 55.9% (38/68) of patients in the triplet arm. The triplet arm was associated with a higher incidence of grade [greater than or equal to] 3 neutropenia (44.1% versus 27.0%, p = 0.03) and diarrhea (5.9% versus 0%, p = 0.03). The primary limitations of the study encompass the inherent bias in subjective surgical decisions regarding resection feasibility, as well as the lack of a centralized assessment for ORR and resection. Conclusions The combination of cetuximab with FOLFOXIRI did not significantly improve ORR compared to cetuximab plus FOLFOX. Despite achieving an enhanced DpR, this improvement did not translate into improved R0 resection rates or PFS. Moreover, the triplet arm was associated with an increase in treatment-related toxicity. Grasshoppers, as pernicious pests, pose a formidable threat to the advancement of agriculture and animal husbandry. Their presence can elicit a cascade of environmental challenges, underscoring the pressing need for effective control measures. However, grasshopper development is an intricate process influenced by diverse environmental factors with varying weights across regions, making it difficult to prevent and control. Therefore, this study focused on the prevalent infestation region, Xilingol, and selected Dasyhippus barbipes as the research subject because of its highest density and largest damaged area. Initially, according to the development mechanisms of D. barbipes, 31 habitat factors from five categories (meteorology, vegetation, soil, topography, and ecology) were selected; then, difference tests, correlation analysis, importance tests, and principal component analysis were applied to construct representative indicators for monitoring the habitat of D. barbipes (HDB). Subsequently, employing the occurrence data of D. barbipes from 2018 to 2023, a spatial pattern analysis was conducted to explore the hotspot aggregation area (HAA) and spatiotemporal characteristics of D. barbipes. Finally, considering landscape and spatial heterogeneity, the Landscape-based Geographically Weighted Logistic Regression (L-GWLR) model for HDB was constructed to achieve adaptive changes in factor weights across regions. The indicators included minimum temperature during the egg stage, precipitation, and soil temperature during the spawning stage, slope, fractional vegetation coverage in the nymph stage, soil moisture in the 1st to 3rd nymph instar, patch area, and gyration radius. Abstract Background Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is a promising biomarker for predicting relapse in multiple solid cancers. However, the predictive value of ctDNA for disease recurrence remains indefinite in locoregional gastric cancer (GC). Here, we aimed to evaluate the predictive value of ctDNA in this context. Methods From 2016 to 2019, 100 patients with stage II/III resectable GC were recruited in this prospective cohort study (NCT02887612). Primary tumors were collected during surgical resection, and plasma samples were collected perioperatively and within 3 months after adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT). Somatic variants were captured via a targeted sequencing panel of 425 cancer‐related genes. The plasma was defined as ctDNA‐positive only if one or more variants detected in the plasma were presented in at least 2% of the primary tumors. Results Compared with ctDNA‐negative patients, patients with positive postoperative ctDNA had moderately higher risk of recurrence [hazard ratio (HR) = 2.74, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.37–5.48; P = 0.003], while patients with positive post‐ACT ctDNA showed remarkably higher risk (HR = 14.99, 95% CI = 3.08‐72.96; P < 0.001). Multivariate analyses indicated that both postoperative and post‐ACT ctDNA positivity were independent predictors of recurrence‐free survival (RFS). Moreover, post‐ACT ctDNA achieved better predictive performance (sensitivity, 77.8%; specificity, 90.6%) than both postoperative ctDNA and serial cancer antigen. A comprehensive model incorporating ctDNA for recurrence risk prediction showed a higher C‐index (0.78; 95% CI = 0.71–0.84) than the model without ctDNA (0.71; 95% CI = 0.64–0.79; P = 0.009). Conclusions Residual ctDNA after ACT effectively predicts high recurrence risk in stage II/III GC, and the combination of tissue‐based and circulating tumor features could achieve better risk prediction.

AIM: To investigate the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and apoptosis of human lens epithelial cells (HLECs). METHODS: Flow cytometry was used to assess ROS production after transforming growth factor β2 (TGF-β2) induction. Apoptosis of HLECs after H2O2 and TGF-β2 interference with or without ROS scavenger N-acetylcysteine (NAC) were assessed by flow cytometry. The corresponding protein expression levels of the EMT marker α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), the extracellular matrix (ECM), marker fibronectin (Fn), and apoptosis-associated proteins were detected by using Western blotting in the presence of an ROS scavenger (NAC). Wound-healing and Transwell assays were used to assess the migration capability of HLECs. RESULTS: TGF-β2 stimulates ROS production within 8h in HLECs. Additionally, TGF-β2 induced HLECs cell apoptosis, EMT/ECM synthesis protein markers expression, and pro-apoptotic proteins production; nonetheless, NAC treatment prevented these responses. Similarly, TGF-β2 promoted HLECs cell migration, whereas NAC inhibited cell migration. We further determined that although ROS initiated apoptosis, it only induced the accumulation of the EMT marker α-SMA protein, but not COL-1 or Fn. CONCLUSION: ROS contribute to TGF-β2-induced EMT/ECM synthesis and cell apoptosis of HLECs; however, ROS alone are not sufficient for EMT/ECM synthesis.

Despite cisplatin has been widely used in the treatment of various cancers, the noteworthy nephrotoxicity greatly constrained its clinical value. For this reason, finding novel targeted therapies to attenuate the nephrotoxicity of cisplatin should be pretty significant. Our previous study found that histone deacetylase sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) could be an ideal target for the treatment of cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury. In this study, we explored the protective effects of ellagic acid, a natural polyphenol compound that activates SIRT6, on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity. Pre-treatment of ellagic acid attenuated cytotoxicity of cisplatin in primary renal cells and TCMK-1 cells. Moreover, ellagic acid ameliorated renal dysfunction, apoptosis and fibrosis induced by cisplatin in mice. Furthermore, ellagic acid reduced nephrotoxicity-associated inflammatory factor interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6 expression both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, ellagic acid reversed cisplatin-reduced SIRT6 expression and diminished cisplatin-induced tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α expression. And SIRT6 knockdown abrogated the protective effects of ellagic acid on cisplatin-induced cell apoptosis, indicating the renal-protective effects of ellagic acid are mainly dependent on ellagic acid-mediated SIRT6 activation. Our results provide preclinical rationale for using ellagic acid as a feasible and promising agent to ameliorate cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury, and support ellagic acid as a potential adjunctive therapy for future cancer treatment.

Abstract Introduction A pan-genotypic and effective treatment regimen for patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection remains an unmet medical need in China. Alfosbuvir is a novel potent HCV NS5B polymerase inhibitor in development for the treatment of chronic HCV infection. We conducted a phase 3 study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alfosbuvir in combination with daclatasvir in Chinese patients with HCV infection. Methods All patients received 600 mg alfosbuvir tablets plus 60 mg daclatasvir tablets once daily for 12 weeks. The primary endpoint was sustained virological response 12 weeks after the end of treatment (SVR12). A follow-up visit was done at week 4 and 12, and those who achieved SVR12 were followed up at post-treatment week 24. Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with liver metastases usually obtain less benefit from immunotherapy, and the underlying mechanisms remain understudied. Here, we identify that fibrinogen-like protein 1 (FGL1), secreted from cancer cells and hepatocytes, facilitates the progression of CRC in an intraportal injection model by reducing the infiltration of T cells. Mechanistically, tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) activate NF-ĸB by secreting TNFα/IL-1β in the liver microenvironment and transcriptionally upregulate OTU deubiquitinase 1 (OTUD1) expression, which enhances FGL1 stability via deubiquitination. Disrupting the TAM-OTUD1-FGL1 axis inhibits metastatic tumor progression and synergizes with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy. Clinically, high plasma FGL1 levels predict poor outcomes and reduced ICB therapy benefits. Benzethonium chloride, an FDA-approved antiseptics, curbs FGL1 secretion, thereby inhibiting liver metastatic tumor growth. Overall, this study uncovers the critical roles and posttranslational regulatory mechanism of FGL1 in promoting metastatic tumor progression, highlighting the TAM-OTUD1-FGL1 axis as a potential target for cancer immunotherapy.

Abstract Background The efficacy of anti‐programmed cell death protein 1 (PD‐1) immunotherapy in various cancers, including gastric cancer (GC), needs to be potentiated by more effective targeting to enhance therapeutic efficacy or identifying accurate biomarkers to predict clinical responses. Here, we attempted to identify molecules predicting or/and promoting anti‐PD‐1 therapeutic response in advanced GC (AGC). Methods The transcriptome of AGC tissues from patients with different clinical responses to anti‐PD‐1 immunotherapy and GC cells was analyzed by RNA sequencing. The protein and mRNA levels of the major facilitator superfamily domain containing 2A (MFSD2A) in GC cells were assessed via quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Additionally, the regulation of anti‐PD‐1 response by MFSD2A was studied in tumor‐bearing mice. Cytometry by Time‐of‐Flight, multiple immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry assays were used to explore immunological responses. The effects of MFSD2A on lipid metabolism in mice cancer tissue and GC cells was detected by metabolomics. Results Higher expression of MFSD2A in tumor tissues of AGC patients was associated with better response to anti‐PD‐1 immunotherapy. Moreover, MFSD2A expression was lower in GC tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues, and its expression was inversely correlated with GC stage. The overexpression of MFSD2A in GC cells enhanced the efficacy of anti‐PD‐1 immunotherapy in vivo by reprogramming the tumor microenvironment (TME), characterized by increased CD8+ T cell activation and reduced its exhaustion. MFSD2A inhibited transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) release from GC cells by suppressing cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2)‐prostaglandin synthesis, which consequently reprogrammed TME to promote anti‐tumor T cell activation. Conclusions MFSD2A potentially serves as a predictive biomarker for anti‐PD‐1 immunotherapy response in AGC patients. MFSD2A may be a promising therapeutic target to potentiate the efficacy of anti‐PD‐1 immunotherapy by reprogramming the TME to promote T cells activation.

AIM: To investigate time trends in myopia and high myopia prevalence over 6y among young university adults in China. METHODS: This is a 6-year series cross-sectional study from 2016 to 2021. Totally 4910 freshmen were enrolled and completed a questionnaire concerning age, gender, and disease history. Students with eye diseases were excluded after a detailed eye examination. The refractive status was measured by non-cycloplegic objective refraction and ocular parameters were measured by Lenstar 900. The examination followed the same protocol each year. Trends over time in myopia and high myopia prevalence, as well as ocular biometry parameters, were analyzed. RESULTS: From 2016 to 2021, the axial length (AL) and corneal radius (CR) increased significantly (P=0.002 for AL; P=0.04 for CR). However, the spherical equivalent (SE) and the ratio of axial length to the corneal radius (AL/CR) did not change significantly (P=0.59 for SE; P=0.24 for AL/CR). The frequency of AL ≥26.0 mm increased from 26.6% in 2016 to 29.3% in 2021 (P=0.05 for trend). The prevalence of myopia and high myopia did not change significantly in our study (P≥0.18).
