Cryotechnologies become even more important when donated milk has to be preserved for the feeding of hospitalized babies or when, in the form of milk probiotics, it enters the realms of scientific research and industrial production. However, attention to cold only offers one side of the picture, as thawing and heating are essential processes in human milk circulation too. Drawing on research on milk banking practices in Spain, we present three instances where technologies of cold and heat are applied to human milk or its components: hospital banks that collect milk from donors; the practices of lactating women who donate part of their milk to hospital banks, share it informally with other women, or participate in clinical research; and biopharmaceutical companies developing cutting-edge nutritional products employing microbial strains obtained from breast milk. This paper critically examines hybridity and complexity in human biobanking, focusing on current forms of human milk banking in Madrid (Spain). We present and analyze three practices where human breast milk is stored and circulated: the “12 de Octubre” human milk bank, set in a neonatology unit and based on altruistic donations; informal human milk sharing among mothers; and drug-development practices that use donated human milk as a source of probiotics. Our analysis show that these practices rely on complex socio-technical assemblages, which are also characterised by hybrid zones and points of intersection between them. By understanding bacteria as a boundary object, we analyze the entanglements, disentanglements and re-entanglements of microbiota in the mechanisms of human milk bio-objectification that each of these biobanking practices entails. Este Trabajo de Fin de Máster pretende ahondar en la representación de la diversidad por orientación sexual y/o identidad de género que se muestra en las imágenes utilizadas en la difusión publicidad de las acciones de sensibilización y difusión de los servicios de empleo LGBTI. Siguiendo con las aportaciones de Butler sobre el carácter performativo del género, en esta investigación se entiende que la imagen cumple un lugar fundamental frente a la producción y posterior reproducción sistemática de un conjunto de actos normativos, a través de la cual los propios cuerpos sexuados se materializan, y van adquiriendo la apariencia de una esencia inmutable de forma reiterativa. Para ahondar en los mencionados aspectos, se apostó por recoger las reflexiones y opiniones de seis personas sexogénero disidentes sobre las imágenes publicitarias y los discursos LGBTI creados para el fomento de la inclusión de dicho colectivo en el ámbito laboral español. Las entrevistas desarrolladas fueron de carácter semiestructurado, es decir, realizadas con un guion de preguntas centrado en identificar la percepción que se tenía sobre las imágenes seleccionadas, con la posibilidad de abrir in situ sobre ciertos tópicos que fueron abordados de forma personalizada en cada entrevista. La estructura capitular se inicia con un apartado sobre el estado de la cuestión en materia de la situación de las personas LGBTI en el empleo, a partir de la que se problematiza y formula la pregunta de investigación que se recoge en el apartado segundo. A continuación, se recoge la base teórica que fundamenta la presente investigación, desde el recorrido por algunos estudios de diferentes ámbitos disciplinares asociados a los estudios filosóficos, sociológicos y antropológicos sobre la diversidad sexual y de género; así como investigaciones sobre el análisis de los discursos y la imagen en los estudios de género. This research is the results of complex debates on a conceptual and methodological level, but also a product of my political implication. My own trajectory as an antiracist, decolonial, sexual dissident and non-binary gender activist, deeply shapes the tensions and questions at stake in this research. Indeed, this Ph.D. research is strongly entangled with my own personal life, geo-political displacements, activism and theoretical thought. Little success over the past decades has been observed in reaching and maintaining wellbeing of people in conflict regions across the world, both in terms of securing sustainable development and improving quality of life, despite shared efforts of both national governmental, and non-governmental agencies within those conflict regions, and from the outside international community. This doctoral project examines the critical issue of wellbeing and quality of life of people in continuous conflict regions, by holding forth on Palestine: known for its long-standing conflict and Israeli occupation, as the research case study.The subject of well-being of Palestinian people was regularly discussed within different resolution agreements with conflicting parties, and foreign policy agendas of key international players, in order to guarantee that these agreements and policies are complied with, and provide adequate attention to the rights of minorities, indigenous people, and other vulnerable groups, such as children and women. However, the current difficult circumstances that Palestinians face daily, and the negative indicators on their well-being status, as well as their health conditions, especially within a forementioned vulnerable groups, postulate that national and international efforts in this regard, remain deficient in achieving their objectives...

In our article we want to explore the plastic dimension of objects, their relationality. We use the well-known notion of “boundary-objects” (Leigh Star and Griesemer, 1989) to study the way in which the relationships in which an object is inserted modify its own status, and that of the people with whom it is connected (Winance, 2019). To do this, we turn to a case we have been studying for some time: altruistic donation of breast milk to hospital biobanks and other related practices of shared or "distributed" breastfeeding. We focus on three objects that have had a significant presence in our fieldwork: breastfeeding cushions and other similar tools, such as towels or blankets; breast pumps –popularly known in Spain as sacaleches, “milk extractors”–; and new probiotic drugs. Each of these three objects redefines, through its assemblages with breastfeeding practices, the boundaries between the nursing mother and the world –the relationships with pain and the body itself; social, family and friendship networks; and even the difference between the living and the inert, between body and medication. Each of these objects also participates in a peculiar way in what we call care or intimacy. An intimacy that, contrary to what is usually argued from “naive” humanist positions, is not constituted in opposition to the technical/“artificial”, but arises instead as an effect of the way in which heterogeneous –and always more-than-human– relations are materially mediated (Mol, Moser and Pols, 2010; Latimer and López, 2019), En nuestro artículo queremos explorar la dimensión plástica de los objetos, su relacionalidad, su ser más bien “objeto-frontera” (Leigh Star y Griesemer, 1989), y la forma en la que las relaciones en las que se inserta un objeto modifican su propio estatus, así como el de las personas con las que se ve conectado (Winance, 2019). Para ello, recurrimos a un caso que venimos estudiando desde hace un tiempo: la donación altruista de leche materna a bancos hospitalarios y otras prácticas de lactancia compartida o “distribuida”. Nos centraremos en tres objetos que han tenido una presencia significativa en nuestro trabajo de campo: los cojines de lactancia y otros utensilios similares, como toallas o mantas; los extractores de leche –comúnmente llamados “sacaleches”–; y los medicamentos probióticos. Cada uno de estos tres objetos redefine, en su forma de ensamblarse con las prácticas de lactancia, las fronteras entre la madre lactante y el mundo –la relación con el dolor y el propio cuerpo, las redes sociales, familiares y de amistad, la propia diferencia entre lo vivo y lo inerte, entre cuerpo y medicamento–. Cada uno de estos objetos participa también de forma peculiar en aquello que llamamos cuidado o intimidad y que, al contrario que lo que suele argumentarse desde posiciones humanistas “ingenuas”, no se constituye por oposición a lo técnico/ “artificial”, sino que surge como efecto del modo en el que relaciones heterogéneas –y siempre más-que-humanas– se ven materialmente mediadas (Mol, Moser y Pols, 2010; Latimer y López, 2019)

Resultados del proyecto "Hacer aprendiendo, aprender haciendo: comunidades de aprendizaje-servicio en torno a los malestares de género en la Universidad" en el que a través de las metodologías que aparecen en el título se generó un co-laboratorio/Asamblea de Facultad de diagnóstico, apoyo y acompañamiento en los malestares de género y acosos en el ámbito universitario. El resultado final fue la promoción de un espacio horizontal en el que las ecologías de saberes de sus integrantes (docentes, estudiantes y PAS) se puso al servicio de la propia comunidad para articular formas de denuncia y acompañamiento.

La producción colaborativa de conocimiento puede liberar tiempo y recursos que reviertan en una mayor especificidad y adaptación de las asignaturas introductorias de sociología en diferentes grados y en una docencia y un aprendizaje más prácticos y significativos. Las comunidades de aprendizaje que se han puesto en marcha en el proyecto son una estrategia metodológica particularmente adecuadas para ello, como se pone de manifiesto en esta experiencia.

En el año 346 a. C. el orador Esquines pronunció un demoledor discurso acusando de prostitución a Timarco, uno de sus enemigos políticos. A través de este discurso se ha procedido a llevar a cabo un profundo análisis sobre la masculinidad, el homoerotismo masculino y la idea de ciudadanía en la Atenas de este período, así como de las relaciones y dependencias que se establecen entre dichos elementos, observándose, de esta manera, cómo el desempeño de determinados comportamientos, en este caso sexuales, contribuyeron a formar un modelo concreto de masculinidad sobre el que se asentó la idea de ciudadanía. Todo ello nos ofrece una visión particular, en primer lugar del fenómeno homoerótico en la Atenas clásica, y, en segundo lugar, de la forma en que se construía la ciudadanía ateniense y de los elementos que contribuían a sustentarla., In the year 346 a. C. Aeschines delivered a devastating speech accusing Timarchus, one of his political enemies, of prostitution. Through this speech we proceeded to conduct a thorough analysis of masculinity, male homoeroticism and the idea of citizenship in the Athens of this period, as well as the relationships and dependencies that exist between these elements, observing, thus, how the performance of certain behaviors, in this case sexual behaviors, helped to form a particular model of masculinity; above this model of masculinity is based the idea of citizenship. All this gives us a particular view, first of homoerotic phenomenon in classical Athens, and, secondly, the way Athenian citizenship was constructed and the elements that ontributed to sustain it.

In this article we intent to reflect on the concept of articulation in its theoretical and political potential. In that direction we have been following its particular uses in the critics, both in Marxist and feminist traditions, to a monolithical political subject (particularly in the debates on the unity of the "Left" and the "fragmentary threat" of the Politics of Identity). Using as pretexts the works of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe, Stuart Hall, Bruno Latour and Donna Haraway, we delimit the content of this theoretical artifact that intent to speak for the conformation of political practices and subjects as "moments of contingent closure" result of "partial connections".

El artículo es un conjunto de reflexiones teóricas sobre las formas en que el hecho de la diferencia sexual (y cultural) cobra dimensiones de desigualdad implícita y explícita, así como genera un sistema de exclusiones, en el dominio del sentido social del trabajo. De ahí la importancia de incorporar la variable de género y las diferentes configuraciones de lo habitualmente considerado como cultural como categoría analítica, en los estudios sociales y políticos del trabajo, ya que introducir esta categoría puede posibilitar la transformación del concepto de sujeto histórico entendido tradicionalmente sólo como sujeto occidental masculino, y con esto producir una nueva conceptualización de lo social, incorporando la dimensión de la relación entre grupos sociales diferenciados, partiendo de que la relación entre tales grupos no es un hecho natural sino una interacción social construida e incesantemente remodelada, consecuencia y al mismo tiempo motor de la dinámica social. El concepto de diversidad, pues, es una categoría de análisis imprescindible, tanto para articular el de clase, etnia, género, sexualidad, nación o generación, como para permitir la revisión del mundo del trabajo como un conjunto de roles sociales excluyente, así como para trasformar el sistema de pensamiento o de representación que define culturalmente el mundo del trabajo como un sistema de exclusiones.

En este articulo pretendemos reflexionar sobre el potencial teórico-político del concepto de articulación, realizando un particular rastreo de su uso en las críticas a un sujeto político monolítico desde el marxismo y el feminismo (particularmente en los debates sobre la unidad de la izquierda y la ¿amenaza fragmentadora¿ de las políticas de la identidad). Para ello acudimos a los trabajos de Ernesto Laclau y Chantal Mouffe, Stuart Hall, Bruno Latour y Donna Haraway como pretextos para delimitar el contenido de este artefacto teórico que pretende dar cuenta de la conformación de prácticas y sujetos políticos como ¿momentos de cierre contingente¿ efecto de ciertas ¿conexiones parciales¿.
